WOW - hardest class ever! Her idea of review - EVERYTHING! Know the book, notes and practice problems or ELSE!
this class is so easy. you just gotta go everyday and take notes, which she puts on the overhead. everything makes sense if you just think about it and dont try to memorize a bunch of b.s.
Difficult to follow and very tempermental. Definitly have to go to class, pay attention, take notes, study and review - on your own since she does not.
Although she is a challenging teacher, she has been one of my favorites while at TCC. She is willing to go above and beyond for her students if they just ask.
Great teacher! Very challenging, she doesn't test you on memorization but on applying what you have learned into real situations. Though a bit tempermental she is just a big teddy bear.
Sucks!
She is ok. She tries to throw in some humor and is pretty young so you can relate to her examples. Not hard to pass if you go and dont ****her off.
I really liked her! She is very challenging, which is good b/c you can learn much more. You don't really have to follow the book, just take good notes and study them, study all the problems that she gives as well, and attend all the time.
very clear, gives very good lectures and note. go to pass everyday and pay attention and get A's on the tests. never had to study more then 20 minutes for test because she prepares you so well.
Do NOT take this woman if you not majoring in economics! No No No..
Yeah more like a grizzly bear! Take her if you want, but she is here to fail you ("her and the math department, according to her)-I found her to be very confusing. She tries to be funnny, but she is not...and if you do decide to take her...dont EVER go to class hungry b/c all she talks about is food
Miss Sheffield is an excellent professor. She provides you with all the TOOLS NECESSARY in order to succeed - it's up to you to pass or fail. She bridges the gap between economics and realy life application. I enjoyed her sense of humor, her tenacity, and her dedication to her students. She's smart and funny and that helps tremendously.
Her class is challenging. If you like economics & are determined to do well, you will learn a LOT. However, she definitely doesn't realize that eco2023 is an INTRO level course. But what I disliked most was her personality. She talks down to her students. And as she put it, "I'm an economist. I purged myself of morals and values a long time ago."
She does not round! If you have an 69.9 she will give you a D!!!! She is very smart and likes to make you feel very dumb, she needs to go easier on the tests.
Her test are impossible and she dosent like it when people make A's. She really likes it when you fail so she can remind you how smart she is.
AWFUL TEACHER! if you want your GPA to fall, take her class... because she is sure to help you do it. i make all A's and i couldnt pass her class.. i went everyday and took notes. this is no lie, dont waste your money and time
had her for macro and micro. best teacher i ever had. very good teacher. gives you all the tools you need to pass. go to class everyday and pay attention, take notes you will pass. everything is in her notes. everything
She is a GREAT TEACHER!!! If you go to class she gives you all the info you need to make an A!! Did not need to study more than 20 mins. if you go to Class and take the notes! She does try to be funny and sometimes she is. But over alla great teacher and puts eveything in to way you will understand! I would take her again
Good teacher. Warning: NO NOT GO TO CLASS HUNGRY!! All she talks about is pizza and beer and you will be so darn hungry if you don't eat before class. She does a good job of giving you the tools you will need to pass, but, it is a very hard class. I would not suggest it if you are not a serious business student or majoring in economics.
I liked how her lectures were very thorough and she spread some light on the subject by throwing in a few jokes. I thought she was a good teacher and would take her again for macro economics. If you want an easy class....don't take her...she makes you earn your grade!
She sucks
I took excellent notes and still did not pass her class. I didn't like the fact that the tests you take cannot be given to you.
SHE WAS FREAKIN RIDICULOUS! she gives u 3 tests and a final, and no chance of letting u help your grade out with anyting else...if she wasn't finished lecturing on something, it was still on the test, and she does not curve
She is a great Teacher! If you go to class you should get an easy A! The people that dont show fail!! She knows what she is taking about. And puts it in way you can understand!!
Yeah right....she tries to trick you on every question on her tests, makes you study ALL the notes just to turn around and make each question a "scenario" and give you 4 similar answers to choose from...doesn't finish lectures/post the rest of the notes, she makes you dig up the info, oh yeah...and she has essays on all her tests which hurt grades
Don't think about taking this Professor. She enjoys watching students fail. Even if you go to class everyday you will still do poorly.
She is a good teacher. She gives you note outlines that you can print up before class (very helpful). Test is straight from the notes. She is funny and makes the class as interesting as economics can possible be..
To pass you must go to class and study very hard. Very good at teaching. When taking test you must know the material inside and out. I wouldnt advise taking her if you dont want to work very very hard.
I felt that she really knew her stuff and could actually relay it to the students. She supplied lots of helpful materials to practice the more challenging course work.
Prof Shefeild knows her stuff. She gives you lecture outlines, than during class there is an over head with the information to fill in the notes, and than on her website she has practice problems. If you read the book, take the notes, and do the practice problems you will be fine, but if you dont want to do those three things dont take her class.
NEVER EVER take her!!!! i needed macro to graduate, so i thought i could gut it out despite the things i heard, well i was wrong! this class is super hard. her test are just to confuse you. shes the worst!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just because a professor knows her stuff doesn't mean she can convey it well. She is not helpful at all. I am confident in saying that she like to see her students fail. And I quote, "the more economics students I fail the higher I get paid, because failing economics students don't get jobs as economists."
She is a character which to me i thought was refreshing to have a teach with a personality. She gives these outlines on her web page for each chapter and you fill them in during class. If you miss the notes then its hard to pass her tests. Her tests are Hard. but if you study the outline packets and extra problems you should do fine
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! she is probably one of the worst teachers ive ever had. she is not helpful. her tests are designed to trick you. they can be quite confusing. she loves to fail people. the majority of the class usually fails all the tests, which she could absolutely care less about.
Worse teacher ever!! her test are hard and confusing....do not take her
good teacher...gives all the notes u need for the test but if u dont take the notes or dont go to class often ull probably do very poorly
This teacher is very hard. Whatever her syllabus says she sticks to it. Let's say you earn a 79 in her class and all you need is an 80 to pass. She doesn't give you that point. You earn what you earn.
shes a wonderful teacher! not easy at all but go to class, take good notes, read the book, do the homework (she gives tons of it!), feel free to ask questions and you'll do fine. shes got spunk and even makes you laugh quite a bit.
Please, save yourself while you can and DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! she doesn't tell you what is going to be on the tests, so you don't know what to expect. She has the worst sense of humor of all time, and she doesn't do much at all to help anyone.BAD
I'd rather listen to her scratching her nails on the chalkboard than hear her speak (speaks like a used car salesman or flight attendant). She is very condescending and disrespectful to her students. She doesn't give any extra credit or any type of rounding. I will avoid her at all costs for micro.
Overall, the class was not as hard as people mention. It does involve critical thinking as well as some common sense. The extra credit is given with her take home quizzes.I managed to get an A out of the class, but I never missed a day and always read the book. If you really want to learn, I suggest you take her
Terrible teacher does not help at all even when attending class...do not take..she enjoys failing her students and even says so...avoid her
She's an interesting teachers and there is nothing wrong with her. Very interesting class, take the notes she gives and you'll pass the class. Questions on exams are worded horribly thats the only thing.
worst teacher ever. hard class because of teacher and the tests are worded terribly, with question answers like a&b, both a,b,c, none of the above, all of the above, which is confusing with everything you need to remember for test! avoid her at all costs if you need to pass this class!
anyone can stand in front of a class and read a power point. teacher was awful!!! she would run out of time to cover chapter sections and they would still be on her horribly worded test! I wish i wouldnt have wasted my money or time taking her class! i think she needs to be re-evaluated by how many students do poorly.
You must attend class daily and take notes. Do those two things and study a lot and you can get a C or better. Skip a lot of class and you'll fail unless you are an economics wiz. Do not take this class if you won't show and if you won't take notes or won't study. Talks about pie a lot.
A lot of students complain that this professor is too difficult or unfair. Almost all of the students who say this are the ones who NEVER come to class. If you are not intelligent or hard-working do not study business or economics because they are very competeive fields! She has been one of my favorite college professors. Great powerpoints/notes.
If you want an easy class, study an easy major so you make can pennies with your college degree! This teacher only prepares you for the realities of life in the business/economics sector. Its not easy. If you want to get treated like a baby go study elementary education!
Very tough class you MUST STUDY,COME TO CLASS TAKE NOTES AND READ THE BOOK. The test are pretty hard, but overall she knows her stuff and she tells you like it is!
It is not as hard as people mention. True no extra credits, but you can earn a LOT of bonus points on her multiple choice exams. 3 exams and a final. No homework, no projects, just that. People say you must show up, take notes and read the book. OK WHAT PART OF BEING IN COLLEGE IN UNCLEAR? by the way... i never touched the book. you really dont nee
This teacher is horrible. One of the worst teachers I've had at TCC yet. She wasn't helpful at all. Her tests are impossible. I got a D in the class. I even asked her for advice on how to study for tests and she didn't give me any advice. She has a bad attitude towards students and doesn't care if they fail her class or not. DO NOT TAKE HER.
I really enjoyed her class. I thought she was very friendly and explained the subject very clearly. She's very experienced in her field and she makes the material accessible to students who've never heard of this stuff before.
Don't be tricked by her posted powerpoints. You may think you can just print them out and bring them to class to fill in the blanks, but you won't learn that way. Take your own notes and you should get it all.
She might "know her stuff" when it comes to economics but as a teacher she SUCKS!!! She will not help you in anyway. She obviously lost them memo about using blackboard because she never uses it. I can't stand her as a person or a teacher, half the class drops by the 2nd week. I feel bad for her.

Every negative thing said about Sheffield is true. Wish I had believed it. She thrives on scare tactics by showing students the test results and percentages of students passing/failing her class. Too bad she gets more satisfaction on failing her students then helping them. Some people are professors for the right reason not just for a paycheck.
HARDEST teacher ever. Economics is a hard subject to learn but she only gives 4 test and no assignments or quizes to help with your grade. The powerpoints she has posted on B.B. do not help at all. I got a D in this class and tried so hard. I should have dropped it when I had the chance.
Make sure you do the study guide and look over all definition you should be good! i did not learn this till too late.good luck!
What a great teacher. If you like economics even a little bit she is a great teacher to take. Tests are challenging but if you study the powerpoints and do the reviews then its smooth sailing. She is also a very humorous teacher and a joy to be around. To add she is hot with that great blonde hair. Definitely recommended!
Ok...gross to the comment below mine....and she is a horrible teacher!!! If you have her for fall I suggest your drop ASAP Save yourself $750 of out of state tuition I am paying because if her!! And how did I get an "A" in micro but got a "D" in macro 2 times? Because I took her for Macro 2 times and was smart and took someone else for Micro!
This is a lecture course. The Professor is very articulate and explains all material very clearly, providing excellent real world examples. She is VERY professional. Take good notes/read your book/use the online text resources/study for tests and you will do well. It's just a challenging subject....
Hardest test ever
I have never studied so hard in my life and knew the material and understood it and still never got anything higher than a D on all the test. really hard impossible test!
I took her for Macro, and I am taking her for Micro. Her class is hard and I studied more then ever, but this is a hard subject so I didnt expect it to be a breeze. I think she is a great teacher and she is willing to help on office hours. Her test are hard, but if you study and read the book there is no question that you cant atleast get a B.
WROST TEACHER EVER. seriously,so annoying. tests are impossible, and I actually studied. She's decently nice. Just not a good teacher at all. I would suggest finding someone else if your grade is important to you!
To those who thought that studying and reading chapters is all you need to do to prepare for the test must be honor students. I read and reread chapt, knew the material and applied it to real life sit-HAD A ECON MAJOR in his last year study with me- and still made a D on every test. She teaches at an honor student lvl-not a genius-don't bother.
Completely fair in her grading, following her syllabus exactly. She curves test grades so you have a chance at extra points. You don't need the book, but you have to come to class. She gives outlines to fill in the blanks. You pay attention you'll do fine. Read her test questions carefully, she tries to trip you up. Class was my fave that semester.
This class was extremely hard, but economics is very easy if you don't get the gist of it to begin with. She does curve the test, which saved my grade. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but should be. If you don't go and take notes, you will fail. Make sure you do the practice test and study the notes numerous times. I never used the book.
Fairly decent professor. She knows her stuff, however what was expected in her exams were not clear to me prior to those exams. Built in class curve based on performance.
no good. used classroom to preach her conservative republican b.s. she loves nascar too.
I enjoyed this class! It is easy to listen to her lectures, & puts perspective more on a college student's level by comparing things to beer (If the price of Miller increases by $4, would you be more inclined to purchase Miller or Bud?) She also provides outlines for you to use to take notes & you basically fill in the blanks. MUST STUDY FOR TESTS!
She knows what she is talking about but I wouldn't recommend her. Her tests a hard to me.
I definitely recommend this instructor. Her lectures are interesting, thought provoking, and applicable to life. She modulates her voice well. You do need the textbook & you will have to study, but at least you will know you earned college level credit for the class. She follows syllabus exactly, is never late, & communicates well. Friendly, funny
What a great class. Would highly recommend her. She is not up there preaching her conservative values either, she rails against the government and Pelosi every now and then. But who wouldn't. Study hard for the Exam, it's kind of a doozy. She's a fit chick too.
Ms Sheffield is an excellent teacher. She is well organized and communicates her subject with enthusiasm and clarity. If you attend class, pay attention, and do your due diligence in studying- you will get a good grade. I have only one criticism: Too much talk about drinking and immoral behavior and using crude words like suck.
She is a good teacher. You have to study hard to do well on her tests, but the concepts aren't that difficult. Attendance is 10% of your grade, if you don't go to class, don't take her class. Be prepared to hear her talk about stuff she thinks is "cool" (beer, pot, pizza, etc).
Explains things using everday examples so you understand. I wouldn't reccomend buying the book; just look over it at the library. Do the practice problems online cause they'll be on the test. Easy to take notes cause she makes the note outline for you to print for every chapter. Only bad things are her voice is annoying & she talks the whole class.
Must attend this class in hopes of passing. Be ready to print out lots of lecture outlines and listen to bad jokes about weed, beer, and 5 day old burritos. Do not take this class if looking for an easy grade. I recommend taking someone else if at all possible. Her voice gets old very very fast.
The tests are extremely hard, the homeworks are extremely hard and on top of that you are NOT allowed to get help from a tutor, or able to get help from another student in the class. There are 4 homeworks and 4 tests. It's NOT an easy class if you are looking for a easy grade I recommend taking someone else. I've studied and still not passing.
DO NOT TAKE HER MICRO CLASS!! SHE LOVES TO TELL HER STUDENTS WHAT SHE KNOWS ABOUT MICRO BUT IS NO WHERE NEAR WILLING TO TEACH YOU MICRO. SHE WANTS YOU TO TEACH YOURSELF. DON'T TAKE HER IF YOU WANT TO LEARN MICROECONOMICS YOU COULD JUST WATCH UTUBE VIDEOS THAT WILL TEACH YOU MORE THAN SITTING IN HER CLASS!
Horrible Teacher! doesn't explain anything and all she talks about is Beer and Pizza! don't take her!!!
If you like it when a professor gloats about half her class FLUNKING, and if you like a professor that makes tests harder than they should be, take her. If you like 75 question multiple choice tests, take her. If you like to study hard for hours and hours just to pass the class with a C-, take her.
Hated this teacher. I got a C on the first test because the test consisted only half of what she talked about in class.....very frustrating, and she does revel in the fact that students fail her tests (that shouldnt be that hard) If she is reading this....HEY! Students shouldnt have to teach themselves half the material on the tests!!!!
I liked the class and took a lot away from it. You have to be willing to do the work and read the chapters to pass the tests.
um... u think u knw wats goin on during class then wen u get home to complete the take home quiz....ur insanely confused! wat she talks about in class is irrelevant to the quizzes. hardest class ive ever taken. but she is pretty funny.
Makes you learn half the stuff on your own. Does only talk about beer and pizza.........
DO NOT TAKE! DO NOT TAKE! hER CLASS IS REALLLLLLYYYY BORING. She is completetly monotone. You must have a book and if you wish to pass learn half the stuff on your own. I studied my a** off and still got a C and I'm an A/B student.
I took her Macroeconomics class this summer (2010). You really need to study hard in class and out of class to follow this course, but it is rewarding. I can understand better when I watch economic news on TV after taking her class. She knows how to teach, and her curriculum is very organized. I studies hard and got A.
DO NOT TAKE HER! I wouldn't say she is the worst teacher but all she talks about is pizza, beer, and weed. Half of her lectures is based on stories that have no relevance to economics. I am an A/B student and barely passed. She gives no extra credit and test are super hard and confusing.
Do not pick this professor what ever you do!This is by far the most rediculous teacher i have ever had.If you take this class it will be as if you are taking an online class but you have to show up everyday! She teaches nothing you need to know, and is the only teacher i've ever had that wanted her students to fail.It makes her feel smarter!WILLFAIL
OMG!! Her voice is the most irritating sound Ive ever had to endure! Shes very passionate about what she teaches but her jokes are super lame and the class is mad boring! Attendance isnt mandatory BUT you must come to class to get the notes. Teaches directly from powerpoints. Only gives 3 tests, no extra credit so its a must you study hard.
I'm not sure why everyone is ragging on her. Her tests come directly from the notes she gives in class and the outside material you can print from her website (doesn't use Blackboard). As long as you stay with the class and actually attend it, you'll pass with probably an A. (I got a 103 on the first exam-she gives bonus points.)
If you show up and use the note she gives you, you will pass. She gives you the notes already, all you do is fill in the blanks. So just study those pre-made notes, and you will pass every test. Pretty easy.
She's not as bad as everyone makes her seem. She's got an annoying voice but she knows what she's talking about. She makes the outlines for you, all you have to do is fill in the blanks. Her tests are really hard and she's really strict but she just wants people to LEARN and not cruise through every class.
DON'T TAKE IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR AN EASY A. Super boring pre-scripted lectures with painfully lame jokes. Gives you an outline but also expects you to read the entire chapter and 10-20 pages of other material from her website per test. Awful. Asks horribly specific questions on test so you MUST READ EVERYTHING.
Literally the worst professor I have had in college. I am now retaking her class at FSU with 4 other people that I know of who had her and failed. Your entire grade is made up of 2 exams. A midterm which is worth 40 percent of your grade, and a final that is worth 60 percent of your grade. Her tests are impossible. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!!
She is a great teacher. She makes outlines for you, practice problems, AND she gives you learning objectives and pages numbers of where to find those objectives. She isn't easy but college isn't supposed to be easy. She makes you work hard, but God forbidden you have to earn your grade. She's awesome and helpful. I HIGHLY recommend her.
She is very loud and makes way too many South Park references. All her talk about pizza and beer will make you wish you were somewhere else, eating pizza and drinking beer. Aside from that she's a good teacher but you will have to do a lot of reading and studying to get an A (I got a B). I took her for ECO2023 also; her teaching style is consistent
LOVE HER! She is an awesome teacher. She is strict and seems a little scary at first but you will get used to her. She is a fabulous teacher & makes things SO easy to understand. I had another professor for Mirco and got a C. I took her for Macro & got an A. Challanging class, you have to put it the effort! But I would absolutely recommend her!!
If you want a professor to understand Don't take her class.
I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!! SHE TEACHES OUT OF THE BOX! You'll never get bored in this class! She has binder check every quiz which is long and time consuming but it helps a lot to study! TAKE HER!
do not take this class!!!!!! SHE IS THE WORST PERSON I HAVE EVER MET. i seriously wouldn' take an econ class if i had to have her. disgusting to look at. tests are hard, have to get the book, never take this class. ever.
TERRIBLE TEACHER!!! I got an average grade of 78% and she told me it was a good grade. I am usually a high B or A student. She likes to play mind games.
don't ge tme wrong, she is really a very good teacher but damn, she is tough. very hard tests, about 5 grades altogether, and has no sympathy to excuses. i would recommend this class is economics is a strong suit for you, but if you are like me, and are only taking the class because you have to and don't have a clue about econ, i wouldnt take her!
Really is a strict teacher, not evil or crazy or anything, just has 5 tests, and homework with each. You listen, show up, take notes, and do the homework and the class should be no problem, she also has 4 after hours review sessions as well. Its her class, do what she says basically
Sheffield is extremely hard. I attended all the classes, did all her homework and went to her office hours. Did everything a normal person would do to get an A. At the end of the semester I needed a 79% on the final to get a B in the class I got a 78% and my final grade was a 79.85% I received a C in her class. She is just a terrible person!!!
Ms. Sheffield is awesome!!! Make no mistake! She is STRICT--no nonsense, pull no punches strict, but she is GREAT!!! Do what she says, how she says and when she says. You should be fine. She Does NOT curve under any circumstance so give everything your all.
She was an easy teacher if you did her internet supplements and came to class. I got an A in the class but it did require studying and a book. She lets you use an older version of the book so its really cheap. I did not like this class because Mrs. Sheffield is very particular and rude most of the time.
I would NOT recommend taking this class I have never struggled so much in a class before! She gives extra credit that is very time consuming, if you are taking other classes this one is a MAIN focus! Its easy to follow along in the class, but there is so much to study, and she does not give any study guides except for the extra credit assignments..
Expect to fail this class, her average test score for my class was a 58. I am a straight A student and I had to drop her class. She is very rude to her students, she called me mentally ill for asking a simple question. Worst experience I've had in a class in college period. Taking this class is a BIG mistake.
she make this class more difficult than it should be. she doesnt answers during class and does provide any out of class help unless you can catch her in her set office hours only. shes good at explaining her lectures but her test are complex.
Extremely RUDE to all of her students, very mean and merciless when it comes to being understanding. Some people were just not meant to teach. All of the positive comments below must have been written by her because only 6 out of 30 people passed my class. Class test average was a 57% and she blamed it on us being bad students. She is a bad teacher
Ok this was a rather very challenging class i must say but she is very particular but i enjoyed her class. She personally brought life to the class with her lame jokes. I would retake her class if i could. She dont allow calculators on test also she domt care if you come to class but its in your best too Just study your lectures notes and exceris
Ms. Sheffield is very knowledgeable and provides a lot of information about economics. I enjoyed her class and found her to be very nice and personable. She is very strict but not unreasonably. She was always available to help and she had special study sessions before exams. I studied hard and made an A. I would attend any class she teaches.
This class is not hard, if you are willing to put in the time to study. You must show up to class every day, sit down, shut up and take notes. She puts up review work sheets that are nearly identical to her tests, although i think most of the class doesnt take advantage of them, which is why she has a low test average. she is a very good teacher.
Well.... She's not an easy teacher. This class will require extra work outside the classroom but that's college. In her defense, she is very clear about what it is she expects from her students. No homework assignments. Few extra credit opportunities. You must go to class and stay off your phone. DONT BE LATE AND DONT LEAVE EARLY. STUDY!!!!!!!
She lectures, no interactivity, but her expectations are up-front and accurate. Talks about food WAY too much and I always left hungry. Strict, fair, a little full of herself, but not a bad teacher.
This class was very difficult for me because of the lack of participation. The professor lectures only and it seems she doesn't like questions. Attendance is mandatory for your grade and a lot of extra work is required outside of class. Overall, I think I could have passed macro if I had chosen a different instructor.
I thoroughly enjoyed ECO2013. Professor Sheffield does require you to read the book, come to class, and work hard. However, it is not unreasonable and you will learn a lot. If you show that you are a good student, she is willing to help you with any questions or concerns.
WORST TEACHER EVER. her test are hard and have nothing to do with her study guides, her class ruined my chances of transferring to a University. DO NOT TAKE HER YOU WILL REGRET IT
This class is not as horrible as the others raters a making it seem. Study the study guides she puts online, read the book, and look over the Powerpoint notes and you will do fine. This class requires a lot of outside effort.
Great teacher. She expects students to act professional. An alarming amount of students act like baby's. Attend class, take notes, and study. If you can't pass her class rethink college. She is honest, upfront, and fair. Great teacher.
Go to class and you will pass no problems.
Attended every class, took all the notes, studied all she provided, read and reread chapters, went to her for help, looked over all my tests-still barely have a C. She is painfully unfunny and difficult to listen to. 4 tests and a final, no other grades. No participation in class she just reads useless power points. Don't know how anyone passes.
-Evident that she didn't like me. I spent the course attempting to change her opinion and preform at my best . -Relationship was not ideal, but I respect the fact that it encouraged me to thoroughly learn this important material. I wish her policies suited my learning style, but I DID learn the material and that's important. -A student; not today:(
Very hard, lots of stuff to print, shows no mercy on grade, you may not like her BUT if you go to her during office hours, I PROMISE you'll do so much better in the class, wish I knew that sooner or my grade would have been different.
just, don't take her
I gave a 1 to Mrs. Sheffield because that is what she earned. I had given good on clarity like many others here because she is clear on lectures but that doesn't matter because her tests are what count for grades. The questions on her test are convolutedtortuous made to confuse students to fail. It doesn't matter how well you know the material.
Agree she words tests to fail students. Imagine the class is a simple ABCs class. You go through lecture learning the ABCs, memorize the ABCs, even able to recite it backwards. Test rolls around and the questions are: Which letter is antecedently the penultimate vowel but preceding a second consonant notwithstanding any words already passed over?
This teacher is the devil. She seems very mad she has no progressed in life to be more than an economics teacher for 20 years. Hates the world. Do not take her.
I am trying to save every other student out there that needs to take Economics: DO. NOT. HAVE. SHEFFIELD. AS. A. TEACHER. By FAR, the worst teacher I have ever had. Her grading is ridiculously hard and she is the reason I lost my scholarship since I ended up FAILING her class, which I am usually an A or B student. I repeat: DO NOT TAKE HER.
Professor Sheffield is a legitimate college professor! She does not take crap from students. She gives visual lectures, and is very precise. Her word usage on her exams is designed to make you double think, so that you really understand the material. She may intimidate you at first, but you can be sure to receive quality education in her classes.
She is extremely difficult. I studied her material and the book. Her test is nothing at all like the book. IF YOU CAN, DON'T EVER TAKE HER. I'm failing her class going to have to take this course again. Never from her.
She spends the whole class lecturing and barely makes it through half a chapter. She EXPECTS you to go home and teach yourself so when you come to class you can take a pop quiz. There is a quiz every single class. Exams are long and on material she does not teach in class. PREPARE TO TEACH YOURSELF! I retook online with a diff professor and passed.
I really regret taking her class. She is not helpful at all, and when taking quizzes and tests: they are timed and you can't go back and review your answers. Once you've selected, it's done. The quizzes and tests are nothing like the material your studying. I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! She clearly hates her job
Economics classes at TCC are very difficult, especially Sheffield's class. She gives open notes and open textbook quizzes almost every single day, so if you show up to class everyday and take notes, you'll be fine. The tests are tough, but not impossible. Overall, she's not a bad teacher, just show up to class everyday and you'll pass.
Just don't take her
Terrible. Did above class average, still received a D. Doesn't give any helpful materials or help apply anything learned in book. You read the chapter take a quiz and then take a test. NOT HELPFUL WHATSOEVER.
Hard. I don't struggle with college courses often and her teaching style is difficult. You better get ready to learn it and learn it all by yourself. No answers are given and you don't get to review Quizzes or Tests. Also, tests make up 80% of your grade and there's only 3. Screw up and you're not passing. If you can find ANY other prof, do it.
By far the most terrible teacher I have ever had. Im not one to even rate professors but I would never wish the experience I have had with this teacher for anyone else. DO NOT take this class. Beyond difficult, no mercy, no heart or soul. Tests are all 120 questions and cover an extreme amount of information. NO study guides. Never helpful.
I took Mrs. Sheffields online ECO2023 Microeconomics class. After taking Macro with a different teacher i can honestly say that Mrs. Sheffields teaching strategy was the worst for me. She did not help with any questions I had and never gave any study guides. Study for tests was a cluster of confusion without a study guide. Would not recommend!!
I enjoyed this class and the Professor, but this is by far the hardest class I have taken at TCC. Her lectures are very entertaining, and this teacher is very approachable if you need help on a concept. But be warned, her test are difficult and she is quick to upset if you don't fallow the class rules on her syllabus. DO THE EC. IF YOU WANT AN A!!!
She is not going to give you any breaks, so if you're looking for an easy A look somewhere else. However, she is passionate about her subject and is an excellent instructor. This class gives zero hw and you will have 4 tests.
Horrible and that is all I can say. Do not take her online because she expects you to teach yourself from the book with absolutely no guidance from her.
This teacher was AWFUL. Not understanding at all, and if you ask her a question she doesn't answer correctly. She talks down to students, her tests are long and dragged out. Definitely would recommend to take another teacher
I took micro with Dr V last semester and that was the first class i have ever failed... I retook this course with Sheffield knowing it would be difficult but if you show up to every class, take notes (which she clearly provides on the board), and study for her exams then you should get and A or B. People who rate her bad just dont show up to class.
In summary, she's a horrible professor. If you remember any of the comments, THE QUIZZES, THE STUDY REVIEW SHEETS, AND THE SUPPLEMENTAL HANDOUTS DO NOT REFLECT THE TEST! Her tests are just dragged out and really overboard. You will study 2+24 and then get to the test and she's asking trigonometry questions. Doesn't match up at all. Not worth it.
by far THE WORST teacher I've had at TCC. she is not only rude to students but staff members as well. i took her class and dropped it because she made me cry for not understanding a graph. she substituted for another teacher in a class of mine for the day; and in one class time everyone was talking about how horribly rude she was.
This woman is not a good teacher! She is very rude and ramblers on about nonsense. Her tests are hard , and she does not prepare you for them! I would not recommend her to anyone! The only Pro she has is she offers extra credit to drop a few low assignments that she graded very harsh....
Maybe she's better online, because I really had no problem with her as a teacher. Each unit has chapter quizzes which have precise study guides. Do these and you're good. But when you do a quiz you can't go back to previous questions, & each unit exam is 5 chapters/pencil-paper/avg 120 questions. No cumulative final. NOT an easy A.
She seems to know the material, however, she cares more about getting the students to attend her class rather than learning. I say this not because shes a tough grader but because if you miss a class(with a valid excuse)she does not reply to emails although she'll acknowledge that she received it. NOT ENOUGH CHARACTERS FOR AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS.
Great teacher. Extremely fair about class and is very direct. She's open about what she expects and is in constant communication with her students. A great woman who cares about her students learning. I didn't study once and passed with ease. She does give a skill assessment on the first day but it's just to see what you need to work on.
I'm not the best when it comes to economics but this professor was just way too difficult and she could care less if you were doing bad in her class. I never missed a class, took good notes, studied very hard, did all the homework and somehow still got a C. If you are good at economics then you will be fine but if not...i would re think it.
She is very rude and this is the worse class I have taken. She has no compassion and always talking about how much she loves her beer.
Professor Sheffield absolutely sucks! As people have said up above she cares more about showing up to class rather than passing the class. She is rude and all she loves to talk about is her love for beer. Shes very odd and i dont know how shes married lol, moral of the story do not take her because youll hate it.
Don't get me wrong, she knows what she's talking about but has no idea how to explain it to students. You have "in-class assignments" every single class that are basically very tough quizzes (no partial credit, you will get a 25% at least once) but she drops the 4 lowest. READ THE TEXTBOOK & take notes, its your only chance.. doesn't post ppts.
This is the hardest class I have taken in my life. I would not recommend it to anyone.
In her online class - every quiz she gives is like 40+ questions. And half of it basically a vocab quiz that you have to put word for word what the textbook says for credit. But, the quizzes you can only few for a four hours on certain days. Like why? On her tests if you don't circle your answer and write it in - you don't get credit.
She is the worst teacher i have ever dealt with! I took her online class and it was nearly impossible to pass. She really dosent care
I understand you get what you earned but she is very rude. Not enough time for quizzes. Grading system is very crazy and hard to understand. I wouldn't suggest anyone taking her course.
The online class is basically a quiz every three days and she makes you read a lot of exercises including the book before each quiz. Quiz due dates can be on a Sunday/Saturday whenever. I do not recommend this class to anyone.
Please please do not take this class. She is the teacher I ever had to give out 55 question quizzes that do not even move your grade up a point if you pass. If you can try and seek this course somewhere else with her.
She's gives out a lot of assignments so you always have something going into the grade book. Your online quizzes are basically test b/c they're 50 questions! The class itself is somewhat challenging so if you want to pass show up & read the textbook & go over your notes & you should be fine. 3 exams and a final. Not my favorite teacher. GOOD LUCK!
I feel like to an extent she realizes that her teaching style doesn't work, as she will offer copious amounts of "extra credit" (extra lowest grade drops) simply for bringing food in for the homeless shelter food pantry. If you want to go to a class and basically have the textbook read to you the entire time, this one's for you.
great teacher!
Moves off topic from PowerPoint lectures, thats the reason why its tough because when youre taking your at home quizzes she doesnt teach the material you have to teach yourself
Horrible teacher. Boring classes and teaches through packets that do not relate whatsoever to testing and quizzes. Do not take her, the extra credit is barely enough to give you a passing grade. NOT WORTH IT. LOOK FOR ANOTHER TEACHER.
Terrible teacher overall, i've never disliked a teacher more, her jokes are the opposite of funny and her teaching method is legit awful. If you plan on taking this class please bully her into quitting her job because she sucks and doesn't know how to teach
DO NOT TAKE THIS LADY!!! I AM WARNING YOU NOW! Unless you like listening to the most cheesiest lady lecture everydayyyy alllll dayyyyyy about nothing that is relevant to your test/quizzes, then you have to go home and teach yourself then she is the one for you. If you're looking for an easy A look the other way. One pro is she offers extra credit.
NO NO NO NO NO! is all I have to say... You will truly regret taking this professor. Save yourself the stress I promise.
TERRIBLE TEACHER! Every single study guide has NOTHING to do with the test. She doesn't teach you ANYTHING on the test which is why everyone fails them. She tries to make it up by giving some extra credit which really doesn't help. Find a better teacher. She needs a new job.
STAY AWAY! Ridiculous that shes pretty much the only teacher you can take for Micro and Macro at TCC. Her cheezy lectures cause you to never want to go to class. Her study guides make the test actually harder for you. & lets not forget the fact that she tries to act nice and helpful but wouldnt even bump my classmate up a point Corona Semester
Okay so listen up if you like economics you'll be fine but her class is so hard. The tests are long multiple-choice and her lectures are long and she is hard to listen too. She doesn't want to help you at all and I legit failed her class... I am an A and B student too so ya I just wouldn't even bother with her because she doesn' care to help you..
I took Sheffield during the corona virus pandemic via zoom. I think most of the negative reviews for her are unwarranted shes by far the most friendly economics professor I've met while at TCC. The class is just difficult but if you put aside the time to study you'll be fine. Sheffield is not perfect but shes not a bad professor either.
I took professor Scheffield's course and I was more dependent on myself to learn the concepts on my own, rather than actually learning from the very tedious and monotonous lectures. The lectures themselves are a struggle to get through as she talks in a way that tends to leave a headache and an annoying echo of her voice in the back of your head.
She really wasnt bad at all. the work was the same each week so it was easy to keep track of. Not a lot of hwk at all!! only 1learning assigment&1 quiz a week. you have to study for quizzes bc the content is hard. She doesnt give hard work at all. not a stressful class. i recommend for a basic college class. 8/10. lectures are just kinda boring
Not great tough grader
Stay the hell away from this professor. She expects everyone to know the topics, doesn't teach them, then gives you assignments. How does she expect students to learn anything when she reads off a power point that your supposed to fill in and doesn't explain material. I taught myself everything in this class. Worst Prof I've ever had.
Lectures were very vague. The study guides helped a little bit. The tests and quizzes were hard, had to study a lot.
Lectures ramble way off topic too often and the material is being read to you rather than concepts truly being taught. From high school, to Dual Enrollment classes, to a year of college classes, she is genuinely the worst "professors" I've ever had and I truly try hard to do well. It was just so difficult to teach myself the class.
The comments are definitely exaggerated lol. Just do the ch readings, take notes, and the study guide for extra credit and it easy. Yeah the quizzes and tests are long but not impossible. Dont cram though! make a study plan and its an easyyy A! only studied the quizzes and got A its mainly memorization. I took online, maybe shes dif in person.
Worst teacher ever. Don't even bother taking this class, it's almost like she wants you to fail. The quiz answers are mainly in the textbook but by even getting a 90% on them it would bring my grade down. Homework brings u up .2% and you have 3 exams on honor lock. Find a different professor she doesn't help if you have questions.
The hw is easy but you have quizzes every chapter with 50+ questions and you cant look back at questions you have to keep moving forward. 3 unit exams on honorlock, such a tough grader when it comes to hand written assignments. Quizzes are on quizlet but the exams are impossible I barley made a C, doesnt round up grades even if u end with a 69.99
She has one of the most organized online classes I've taken, her expectations for coursework are clear. We had about a week to complete one chapters question, a chapter quiz and an extra credit crossword puzzle each week. Definitely a bit more thorough than the other intro economics professor I took but I enjoyed that because economics is my major
do not take her if you want to pass this class. extremely time consuming and hard class for absolutely no reason. she does not care.
This is by far the worst professor I've ever had. If you're taking her for an online class, good luck. All you do in her class is read and take exams, no lecture. You have to teach yourself the material. She gets paid for you to read a book and take tests and quizzes. A joke. There is a reason why she has over 60 1 star ratings. Avoid at all cost
HORRIBLE! please dont take her you will regret it so badly. midterms have 150 QUESTIONS??? and only give you 2 hours to finish it! the funniest part is the tests are worth 100 points and the extra credit she gives (WHICH TAKES LIKE AN HOUR) only is worth 3-5 points???? like what how does that even make sense. LOADS OF HOMEWORK, SO TIME CONSUMING!!!
She's okay... Way too much overload of information in lectures and puts 70 questions on something and calls it a "quiz". Puts 150 questions on a midterm... Puts information that wasnt even gone over in class on tests and quizzes. Offers extra credit but at the maximum only 5 points extra.. Would not take this professor again.
Absolutely ridiculous... Had her for an online class and the quizzes were 60+ questions, with midterms having 150+ questions. Workload is extremely heavy and you will need to teach yourself every single bit of it. Please do yourself a favor and not take this class!
class wasnt bad but the tests were very hard. barely finished with a B
For each chapter she gives extra credit, a quiz and an assignment through McGraw Hill online. Class was pretty boring and we just took notes while she read from a PowerPoint. I would have preferred to take the class online since everything we do is online and I mostly spent the class doing work for other classes.
Although I do understand the bad reviews I must say that despite the hard quizzes and reading to be done. I did retain information and I did learn from this course. If that interests you and you like to study, take her. However, it was way more demanding than any class I have ever taken, and it is an introductory one, so that says a lot.
DO NOT take this professor! She doesn't care about you failing, she responds to you like you're stupid when asking a question. She gives a quiz every Tuesday with 50-55 questions that's not even in the textbook, she has "practice exercises" due every Sunday with a max of 60 questions, and 2 other assignments with the SAME AMOUNT of questions.
Way too many quizzes which were 50 or more questions. Her lectures have almost nothing to do with what is on the quizzes. The amount of work overload is ridiculous. I would never take this class again.
This teacher is very poor I don't recommend taking it unless you want to fail
Enormous Amount of work was assigned. Whenever I asked a question or pointed out how I should have got a point when I did not, she was very dismissive and demeaning in her responses. I ended up earning Ani in the class and did learn a lot, but it was a struggle and her personality is very polarizing. I would never take a class with her again.
When you ask her a question or ask her to explain something she doesn't explain to very well at all and gives no help at all. And her test and quiz have over 50 question on them and not enough time to answer them and you can't use your notes at all. She gives attitude when you ask her a question. I would not take her class again at all
The only reason I was able to get a B in this class is because I studied for hours every single day and had to teach myself the material. Her lectures and the homework aren't even related to what's actually on the test. Horrible.
doesnt care if you fail. workload is insane. 1 star accurate
Professor Sheffield is a nice women and is very knowledgeable in her subjects, she knows what she's talking about. However, her lectures make me want to quite literally scrape my eyeballs out with a spoon.
She gives lots of homework (overwhelming amount), her tests are insanely long, and she lectures the entire time.
Insane amount of homework and extremely boring lectures
She is one of the best at getting students to retain and understand the content. Giving full lectures with easy to understand presentations and notes. She does talk slow and often beats topics to death. I don't like this at times because when I understand a topic well, and she keeps talking slow and explaining the topic more, I find myself bored.
good prof, talks slow & elaborates a lil too much. gives good notes sheets to follow lectures & attendance is based off in class assignments (only like 10 the whole semester). hw sucks cus its mcgraw hill but for completion credit. tests kinda long. final wasnt bad considering i barely studied. pretty easy class, just turn in hw & you should pass
Tests are 100 questions. 1pt a question
Took her class online and the class structure is awful. Each unit is a 50 question quiz, you cannot skip a question. When you are done with the quiz you could never see what you got wrong, which made it more difficult to study for the midterm which is 25% of your grade and the exam worth another 25% of your grade.
This professor isn't as bad as as the reviews say but there is a lot of work and you must ready to read in order to understand and pass the quizzes and exams. You automatically get 100 on the home work which is what kept my grade up. The quizzes are different especially with the math and graph questions. For the most part I had no issues with her.
The class is extremely challenging with lengthy tests and an overwhelming amount of homework. However, engaging with the material and using resources like Unstuck ai can help manage the workload.
She is the worst teacher you could get. Her lectures make my ears bleed, and she is the slowest reader. It would take the entire 90-minute class to get through her already half-written notes. She is a tough grader, and the only grades that matter are her 100-point tests. Mcgraw Hill takes at least an hour, and you get multiple per week. Good luck.
Theres a lot of homework but its not bad, just time consuming. Her lectures are painfully boring to sit through. The tests are long but if you study they aren't too bad.
Worst professor ever
Be prepared to studyyyyyy. 4 big tests and they are 5o questions each. Cool teacher and very nice if you show up and take notes. Painly boring lectures and reads super super slow. Homework takes forever at least an hour or so and you get up to 1 or 2 a week. Wouldn't recommened but I'm sure theirs worse
I would not recommend anyone to take her for Macro Economics. Tests are in class, she does not care about her students i have asked her for help and she tells me to read more carefully, if your looking for a good grade for this course look somewhere else because she is not the one to help you, she is my first bad grade, regret taking her!
