She's great. She makes you learn, keeps you interested, and is willing to help.
Great teacher. Very hard. Her classes are not for the 'go through the motions' student. She makes you think on your own and is very funny

Interesting teacher, although she will definitely make you earn your grade...no matter what it is
Great teacher! She knows her stuff and makes you think. Her tests are easy as long as you study for them, and she is always willing to help.

No, she's not easy... but aren't there enough uneducated folks in psychology? Do yourself a favor, take a course from Dr. Andersen and learn something. After grad school and a year in the field, I still use my methods notes from her course. A++++
Yes, she's tough, but she's not as impossible as some of these reviews make her out to be. She's also very fair and reasonable, amazingly engaging and entertaining, and passionate about what she teaches.
I've had some hard classes, but nothing like this. Asked for help, told me there was nothing she could do. Goes off on tangents during lectures, does poorly in explaining theories. Tests fail to reflect on lectures. Labs are irrelavant to material.
she clearly doesn't want to be here
Worst teacher ever. Rude, unhelpful and mabye one student in 300 will get an A. I am a psyc major and she turned me off of psychology, luckly I got another teacher. She needs to be let go. She is terrible. Nothing she teaches are on her tests. Awful!
I think Dr. Andersen is a great professor. Sure her tests are difficult, but that is just in comparison to all the other easy classes at FGCU. I thought she kept class interesting. I'd reccommend her if you're interested in getting a real education!
awful!!!!!!!!!!!1
can teach and loves to fail half the class
She is an excellent professor, she makes you actually learn the material. Not to mention, she keeps classes interesting. She is always late to class though.
Very hard, told too many personal stories, tests were not clear and very hard.
she is a horrible teacher
She was a hard teacher & was rude to students. Tests were hard but she obviously wants students to learn the material.
she is horrible i dont think she should teach i left the school because of her
I loved her class! She is an awesome teacher!!!

she sucks

At first i was nervous cuz i heard bad things but she seems pretty bad ass to me.
HORRIBLE TEACHER!
Always late to class, tests are crazy hard and neither her or her TA's are any help when it comes to studying for or passing the mad weird tests.

I love Stacey. But she doesn't teach a Mickey Mouse Course. You better be ready to study and read!
she sucks
Shes AWSOME! she is laid back and obviously loves her job.
She's is negative and is a little high strung. She tells you how to fail the class, not how to pass. She was not very personable either.
if you sit up front you'll do amazing- if not you're screwed!!!!
She sucked! Was rude, and a total hardass when it came to tests. She loves psychology, but sure made me hate it!

She just skips around a lot
I loved her! The only crappy thing? 3 exams and thats your grade folks!
She was pretty difficult, but class was interesting. Make sure to study hard for all of her exams.... entire class is based on just 3 exams (at least that's how it was when I took it 3 years ago).
WORST PROFESSER I have ever had!! Took her class twice and Failed both times went to Another scholl got an A with No problem. She should not be a Teacher she does not care about her students what so ever
I heard she was a really hard teacher for psych, but she wasn't bad at all for human sexuality. At first I didn't like her because all we seemed to do is watch movies and I felt like I wasn't learning anything. The class was interesting however as I got into it. I think she does better on the more psych speciality classes cuz she knows shes usua
Even if you think you got what she was talking about in class, you will be surprised at how much your not ready for that test of hers. She will make the test much harder then needed, even if you understand something. Sometimes she will add assignments that are not even on the syllabus. Shes really not a cool teacher.
She is a horrible professor. Test questions do not refelct what she lectures on in class. Never on time to class. Does not want to explain why you got certain questions wrong on her exams. I would never reccommend this professor to anyone.
she is very hard to hear in the classroom
If you take good lecture notes and actually read each chapter and take your own notes off of them, you will do fine. Believe it or not, she is not that difficult or unreasonable. That aside she is also very interested in the course and as a lecturer is very attention holding and down to earth- excellent class.
Bad professor, not eloquent (how she has a degree is absolutely beyond me); DO NOT TAKE, waiste of time. Down to earth is an average ranking she has, its also very polite. Some people shouldnt be teaching.

She is a difficult professor but she is very intelligent. If you listen to her lecture and take notes you will do fine. You also have to take into account that the class offers SI and I would recommend using it!

Heard horrible things about her in gen psych but when i had her for human sexuality she was nice and enjoyed teaching. I would take her for human sex but not gen psych.
She's not as bad as everyone makes her. Yes she comes late for class, yes her lectures are boring and irrelevant, and yes you must attend each and every class because there is a quiz at the beginning and even if u miss one it can screw your grade. However everything comes from the book, there is no guessing about how her exam is UNLIKE BOURGEOIS!
she's nice. a little weird. big class. if you miss it's not a big deal because she talks about nothing during the lection. she sometimes gives pop quizzes. only 4 tests though so you must study the chapters.
She knows what she is talking about and she really seems to love it. She is unorganized, but I learned A LOT from the class. I think the way she taught the class made it interesting because she really emphasised on what happens in our daily lives. It's very important to read the book.
Worst teacher yet. Never is on time to class, even the day of exams, which takes away from testing time. Very hard tests. Lectures are useless, goes off topics. Very unprofessional!!! If you can avoid this professor, please do! Don't give her part of your tuition money, she doesn't deserve it! She cancelled at least 4 classes! HORRIBLE!!!
Had her for methods and she was awesome! I now teach methods and many of the things that she did are part of my repetoire. She is much better than the ratings here suggest, she just does not "give" good grades, she makes people earn them. Guess some folks don't like that. But if you want to LEARN, she's a great teacher
She is a great teacher.Knows subject, makes herself clear, explains everything very well. Funny! Always jokes around!Tests are hard but if you study you will be fine. It is not an easy class, and it helps if you love psychology. Overall, you learn a lot about life. Taking her again for other class.(There is no final, only 4 exams).
SI helps alot in this course. Lectures tend to drag on.
She does a lecture that has a strong correlation to the book. She gives you a study guide. Never spoke to her outside of class. She is quite the character. Carries a giant mug filed with sprite, sucks on a nicotine stick while she speaks, and has a rag to wipe her sweat on. Class got canceled a few times. Once because her car was on fire...
She is a very interesting lady but you can tell she really has a strong passion for the subject. She's very helpful and her lectures are interesting. Her class was only based on 4 tests so it's pretty important to attend each class. The test are hard but you have to study and I suggest getting the study guide book because that helped a lot!! :)
WORST TEACHER EVER! i was so excited to take this class but after 2 weeks i dreaded the days i had to wake up fir her class. i probably would've liked it better with a different professor.
She's an interesting person but the class is difficult. the lectures are long. wouldn't have her as a teacher again. she gives you notes for the test. goes along with book. get the study guide too. class is canceled often. she loves the subject.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSSSS!! she is not helpful her test are hard and she is always chewing on what looks like a straw. NASTY ! SHE SWEATS like crazy which is very distracting
i highly suggest not taking this class. Shes missed alot of class and is not helpful. The tests are on nothing taught
She is a terrible teacher. I do not recommend this class. She sweats and swears and talks about how she likes to read "MAXIM" I was excited to take this class, and I absolutly dreaded taking her class. Her exams had nothing to do with anything she taught.
I had her for sexuality. The material spoke for itself and no added interest came from her sweat and swear ridden lecture. Her tests are hard because she pulls small details from the text. Cancelled class often and was late frequently, with barely any notice or apologies.
4 tests for the semester. Does not curve grades much. Review book is not like test questions
pretty straight forward. there is alot of information to learn and it needs to be memorized. so there is alot of studying involved. info not covered in class that's in the book is fair game in exams. but extra credit opportunity is available. NO CELL PHONES!
If you read the chapter you will be fine. Compared to the other ratings here, I must've caught a good semester because she only missed class once. Interesting subject but lectures are long - go incase she gives a quiz but otherwise read the book and you will be fine.
better study hard!
Extremely challenging professor. The tests cover the subject matter, however they are application based and extremely subjective. You absolutely must read the textbook and know the key terms. Even then, I found it hard to get an A.
This teacher was horrible! it was my first professor at college and she was very trashy. very mean. 4 tests. all studying is done in the book. no guides..
very trashy. Rude too. All studying is done out of book. Notes are very limited compared to whats on the tests. never take her. there are so many other better psy teachers!
EXTREMELYYYY difficult. However if you study the book and go to the lectures and take in-depth notes you will do fine. I studied hard and got an A!
She is AMAZING!!! She's extremely funny and makes class super interesting! You'll actually find yourself wanting to pay attention during class and having fun. Plus the class is SUPER EASY!!! There are only 4 tests... and for each test 2 chapters. NOT ACUMLATIVE either. other teachers make u do 3 chapters per test and its super hard
She's a really good teacher!!! Don't listen to anyone else who makes fun of her they're just judgemental. She's really funny and makes the class fun n interesting. I hated psych in high school and because of her class I love it now
I mean, she's a funny teacher and all.. but honestly, her tests are the most difficult tests I've ever taken. I would suggest not taking this class.
I have also had her for PSY 2012, and she is a wonderful professor. Her tests are difficult, yes, but they are 100% based on the text. If you have not read any of the material, you will do poorly. Providing you read the material, the tests are just a matter of recalling what you've read. She is very knowledgable. And SOP 2770 is a great class!
Take this class! Dr. Andersen is really interesting and leads really great discussions. You're expected to read the chapter on your own and then watch a video about it in class. If you're planning on slacking, think twice about taking this because if you don't read the chapters, You WILL FAIL the exam. It's 100% out of the book.
One of my favorite professors. Class isn't difficult at all so long as you put a little study time in before each of the exams. no HW or class assignments. Really interesting class
Amazing professor. makes things easy to understand. very blunt and straightforward but compassionate. She will bend over backwards to help you out if you ask her. 4 exams not cumulative heavy use of text and lecture. does not except excuses at all
Worst prof at the school. Every clas she ends up off topic. Often times her lecture ends up giving you no additional information that can be used towards the test. has medical issues and sucks on some sort of medicine stick in class (basically its liek shes **** or high while teaching).
This class really isn't as bad as people make it seem. If you read your text do the study guide and pay attention in lecture you will do fine. I passed the class with an A jus by doing by study guide before the test. Most test questions came from there. If you work for the grade youll get it.
Professor was pretty good. As long as you read the material and take the quizzes and tests, you should have no problems with this professor. She is opinionated and not as tactful as other professors, but I believe she does her job well in that she is here to bestow her expertise of course material upon the students.
Don't listen to all the lazy complainers. She is an excellent teacher that understands the material. She's super funny and keeps things interesting. She is also always willing to help. Get the study guide and put in some quality tim studying and you will do fine.
She is not a horrible teacher, but her class is tough. As long as you go to the lectures, get the handouts, do the study guide tests, and actually open the textbook you should do fine. Her only 4 grades are exams, so I hope you are a good test taker. She's funny and will explain anything you are confused about.
AMAZING! She makes boring lessons fun. She's hilarious!
Anderson was a great psych teacher, she was animated and make the lectures fun, she was also very helpful to me after class if I had any questions, I would recommend her
To be fair, I had her not for research methods but for Cognitive Psychology. Worst teacher I have ever taken in my entire BA. It is not that she is hard but that her tests were obscure, her lectures were confusing. Seriously a waste of anything. Probably the only teacher I have ever had anything negative to say about ever.
She's a little quirky but overall a good professor.
Amazing professor. Her classes are really interesting and she makes it fun. She's really motivated and shows us many example to make her point clear. She answers any and all questions and her exams are not extremely difficult. I look forward to attending her class although she does not take attendance
She is nice and helpful. Teaching Research methods, she combines part lecture and part text book. The big problem, the questions on the exams are nothing that appears in the text or lecture. No way to practice scenario used in tests. Also quizes are taken before professor lectures on them and the grades are final. My 3.94senior GPA was affected.
Kept class interesting. Class had a lot of work, but if you go to class, take notes, and do the assignments, its an easy A.
Class is EXTREMELY easy. The lectures in class, and sections from book correlate. You just have to make sure you really understand the subject matter and not just know vocabulary words. Definitely an easy A and the class was interesting!
General Psychology is an interesting class and takes work but with the online assignments and lectures, Dr. Andersen gives, the class is definitely bearable.
awesome teacher, easy class!
The course has minimal assignments, you get quiz points just for reading the chapter, shes clear and concise with her lectures, and even lets you out early. The tests do require critical thinking, ie. actual understanding and then applying the knowledge to the test. Overall great class and easy if youre willing to try.
Great Professor! Makes the material very easy to comprehend. Class never lasts the entire time, if you pay attention and your homework there's no way you will fail.
Great professor really enjoyed the class. Plus she is funny!
i never showed up to class, did all the homework and studied the notes that she gave us to print out and read the chapter, ended up with a B+. Tests arent too hard as long as you understand the material.
On the first day of class she is quite intimidating. But don't let that fool you. She is the BEST psych teacher I've ever had. Not an easy A but if you glance over the chapters in the book, pay attention during lectures, do the homework, and UNDERSTAND everything, it's near impossible to receive less than a B. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend her.
Best teacher I have ever had. As long as you are clear on the material you will succeed. Pay attention in class and read and understand the textbook and you will do great. She is involved, loves her students, and is interested in what she is teaching. I would recommend her to everyone!
Great teacher. Really enjoyed the class. I had no interest before taking it but she is extremely well prepared and passionate about it. Take this class if you can!
Very confusing professor.
Makes class very interesting. She has guest speakers come in, makes group in-class projects, and shows interesting movies/ videos. Definitely not an easy class but its worth taking
She keeps this class very interesting, it is extremely entertaining. However, it is not easy. The tests are very hard and it's a lot of work on your own, outside of class.
Didn't like this class! Tried hard and wrote notes but you have to have everything super memorized for tests! And there's only 4 per semester!!! DON'T RECOMMEND!!
She doesn't make lectures clear and she tends to ramble a lot. Also another thing, no matter how much you study the text book and the lecture notes there are still questions on the exam's that have nothing to do with what you're learning. I'm a psychology major and I had to try to even make a high B.
She's a super cool teacher. I never went to class and she never took points away, but her test were SOOOOO hard! like there is plenty of easier teachers to take. I do not suggest this teacher at all.
Do not take this class! She has a great passion for the subject but her lecture is pointless. She rambles on a lot of randomness that doesn't show up on the exam. Best part of the class is the final is only on one chapter. Oh and the assignment, connect, sucks majorly!!!
I was very disappointed with this class. I ended up getting a B+ in this class no matter how much effort I put in studying. Reading the textbook only bumped my test average up a few points. I still say go to class, you get decent notes from her. I don't recommend since there are other Psych teachers that give out A's. This class is not worth it.
She seems a lot more strict up front than she actually is throughout the course. If your phone goes off in class you lose 10pts off your final grade, although that hasn't happened yet. Some light reading required, but if you're an UL Psych student the material is familiar. Mandatory attendance and a pop quiz every class. I'll probably have an A/B+.
Horrible professor. Tests have nothing to do with anything in the book or what she teaches. They are also insanely hard. She will never answer your emails. She doesn't even have office hours. If you take her you will regret it.
For those individuals who find this course tough.... Get out of town. You are some stupid business major freshman. If you don't get an A in the class, you have must've not read the book and did the assignments.... Essentially you gave no effort. GREAT PROFESSOR - READ THE BOOK FOLKS
I made pretty much all A's in highschool but bombed in here. I dropped this class. No matter how hard I studied, I couldn't get above a low C. Don't take Andersen! She's hilarious but wicked hard
I actually don't understand why she has such a mediocre score on here. She keeps class interesting with funny stories and walks around with no shoes on almost every class. Read the book and you'll do fine. But if you don't go to class don't expect an "A." Make sure you take good notes and study hard for her tests and you should pass with "B" or up
She makes lectures really interesting. She does tell you upfront that if you don't do the connect assignments, read the chapter, or attend class, you will fail. She does make lectures really funny and makes them worthwhile. Her tests aren't that hard if you study over your notes, handouts, and book chapter. She puts a lot into class.
Its a pretty easy class even if you don't show up for lectures. Only homework is the read and do an easy online assignment once a week. She makes her lectures very interesting and loves to use sex jokes. Also probably the hottest teacher at fgcu
I am also surprised by her grade. She is great. I took her twice and didn't pass the second class but it wasn't due to her; it was my being unhappy with the material. I still respect her immensely.
I took her class only on Monday and I thought her class was absolutely awful. I do not recommend her. She makes you do connect assignments online to "prepare" you for the test. The questions are nothing like her test. I love psychology and have taken several psychology classes and got an A but this class was terrible!
She is very passionate about teaching this class, and expresses that her sole purpose is to help you learn, pass and enjoy the class. She canceled a bunch of classes during my semester with her, but was very fair to when assignments were due. She keeps class very interesting and I highly recommend her as a professor and this course as a gen ed.
I took Human Sexuality with her my sophomore year, and although it was extremely difficult due to her grading and testing style, I thought her classes were really interesting. She uses a lot of videos, but also incorporates guest lecturers. Be prepared for difficult grading but also be ready to learn a LOT.
Her lectures consist of her reading from her notes, she has poor communication skills. You can ask her a question and she will not understand it and just repeat what she said over and over. Her test questions are hard because they make no sense to anyone but her. She can't teach and she doesn't get it.
Overall, Dr. Andersen was completely awesome, and I would take another class of hers in a heartbeat. However, the only grades she gave for general psych were tests, connect homework, and a research requirement. The latter 2 were really easy, but the tests really required a lot of studying.
Pretty easy class. There are only 4 tests, no quizzes, no final. The research requirement is easy and other than that the only assignment are the connects which are due the day of each test, and they help you study. Just study for her exams a day or two before and it's an easy A. Also take good notes an GO TO CLASS even though it's not mandatory.
She definitely knows her stuff and it shows in her lectures. I fell asleep a few times (only because I took her early 3 hour class block) but taking this course with her as a freshman re-taught me how to take notes. My recommendation, re-type your notes in a format that's easy to read because the homework takes a toll on you. Not way hard, but long
This was an 8am class so if you are not a morning person don't take it. You will study about 4 or 5 hours a week or you will not pass, must show up for every class, she gives quizzes before every class on reading assignments, you want to get good grades on the quizzes because her tests are hard, but I learned much about research and the labwaseasy
Had her for research methods after this class, that class was harder than this one. You must take this class! She is more fun and relaxed than the research class. No textbooks required The whole grade is dependent on one lecture you give about anything related to sex. You must prepare for your speech and give a good presentation. No tests!Funclass
Despite the ratings I had this professor for 3 classes . She is a fair professor . Reading of the book is required. She takes her time to explain things.
Professor Anderson is passionate in what she teaches. However, she is not good when it comes to instruction. Organization is horrible.
The entire class is graded based on quizzes and tests, if you're not a good test taker, YOU WILL NOT PASS. The lectures don't make sense, she doesn't post on canvas so you won't know your grade. I have never worried about passing a class until this one. If you can avoid taking her, do it, don't give yourself the anxiety.
Take this class if you want to fail!! She's a cool lady, but makes the class way harder than it needs to be. Only 4 exams make up your grade, and the Connect assignments have nothing to do with the material on the exams. Definitely not easy, be ready to put hours and hours into studying just to get maybe a D.
Easily the worst teacher I have ever had. I wouldn't take her class again if she paid me.
DO NOT TAKE if you are a BAD TEST TAKER. You have 3 excruciating tests, 10 little quizzes, and the research paper. No other homework, so if you do poorly on the tests, you're going to have a hard time. She "lectures" us for 30 minutes and then says she's done. Can't keep a train of thought to save her life. My class has barely learned anything.
At first she may seem very difficult but as long as you do the connect activities and study the night before you will do fine. Her lectures definitely help and she gives good real life examples on many things.
The class itself is difficult. She lectures without any aide so be sure to read the chapter she assigns (bc you'll have a quiz on it) and you will do fine. There are 3 exams, 10 quizzes, and 1 research paper that makes your grade. Not too hard if you put in the effort to study! She's in class super early if you need to meet with her too.
WARNING: DO NOT TAKE (unless you hate yourself)! Andersen is the WORST professor I have EVER had! She contradicts herself and I never knew what I was actually supposed to do in her class. She confuses herself in her own lecture and then cusses. Horrible tests! So confusing. Told me to study 24+ hrs before exam and I still did bad on tests!
Full class lectures. 4 exams & about 100-150 questions on connect to go with each exam. If psychology doesn't come easy to you it could be challenging as only exams and connect assignments make up your grade. Exams were fairly easy and everything on exams are on the connect assignments, I barely showed up and just went off the connects & got an A.
Took her for sexuality. No tests, quiz, or homework. Mandatory Attendance. Only 1 project, you have to lecture for 65 minutes on any sexuality topic, if you don't meet the time you fail the course. if you don't meet all requirements you fail the entire course.
The entire class (psych of sex) is based off one, YES ONE, presentation. So basically if you fail the one presentation, you fail the class. The presentation has minimal guidelines (pick any topic that has to do with sex) & it has to be over an hour long. She asks that you print out the entire article for every source u used; my printer almost died
Worst professor Ive ever had to deal with. Her exams are pretty difficult and almost everyone fails the final research paper. Lectures arent helpful whatsoever. This is the second semester I take Research Methods with her and I barely passed the second time around. Save yourself!
Overall she is a nice professor. The class is mainly based off of test there are four exams worth 100 points each and connect assignments worth 90 points 15 points for each one. There is a research requirement that you must do or she drops your grade by a letter. If you are a bad test taker take a class with other work involved instead of just test
Worst class I have taken so far. Her lectures have no structure whatsoever. She confuses herself as much as she confuses the class. She does not upload any power point lectures on canvas only extra papers we are told to print and then do not even use. Best part is she does not have study guides for exams, her best study advice is to "read".
Professor Andersen was a really good professor! Attendance isnt mandatory but suggested. Her lectures were good and we got out of class early almost every time. The final research paper is pretty simple and she helps you with it a lot so you don't cram to get it done the last minute. Overall good class and professor!
You will need the textbook AND code to do the homework. What sucks about this class is the grade is just 4 exams and 2 homeworks for each chapter (100-120 questions each) and trust me it's not a lot. Be ready to read and attending class will help because sometimes the tests are lecture-based.
If you want to pass Research methods in Psychology and Lab do not sign up for Stacy Andersen class. She has no idea about what she is doing and will confuse you up until the end of the semester. She is never clear on what she wants you to do and loves to give failing grades. She should not be a professor.
Absolutely one of the hardest online classes I have ever taken. Her syllabus is difficult to follow and her instructions are terrible. The group project is ridiculous and a waste of time. I had to take the U for the class because I absolutely cannot stand this professor. DO NOT TAKE WITH HER!
Do not take any class with this professor. She spent one class discussing diets. I do not pay thousands of dollars for her to tell me about how her diets don't work. She teaches like we are in a PhD program and just didn't care if we truly knew the subject. I recommend to take with any other professor for this specific credit. Not worth the time!
I have so much resentment for this teacher. I took this elective as an easy A because I loved psychology. But this teacher will make you hate it. She put the wrong book on the syllabus and made me return it (waste of money and time). She gave me a 0 on a test (the whole coarse was graded on 4 tests, nothing else). And she was unorganized.
At first I was intimidated by her strict syllabus. She posted weekly lectures and assigned chapters to read in the textbook. There are 4 tests and a research project. The only cushion for your grade is the online connect assignments. She gave extra credit on the tests if a lot of students missed the same questions which was nice, overall shes good
She was by far the hardest professor that I have ever taken. She never explains things clearly and when you ask her, she makes you sound dumb. She gives you SO much to do. When you don't get the greatest grade, she won't tell you exactly what you did wrong. I personally hope you take this into deep consideration before choosing this professor.
I thought Dr. Andersen was a good professor. I took her class during COVID so it was all I online. The class is demanding but Dr. Andersen has clear module sections for each week. I was rarely ever confused about what was going on but I was attentive. Definitely email her through outlook, not canvas, she will respond faster that way.
Dr Andersen made this course way more difficult than it needed to be. She contradicts herself, is unorganized, and gives very unprofessional feedback. She does not care about her students. I have never experienced more stress and anxiety over a class. If you can take this class with any other professor, do it.
She stated that our research paper was a group assignment, and then gave confusing criteria in the syllabus. Come to find out 2 days before the due date that the group members are not supposed to write the same paper just the same topic. Whats the point of having a group, if we dont work on the same paper? Otherwise fine if you keep up with work.
THESE COMMENTS DO NOT LIE. Please if you can take research methods or statistics with any other professor DO IT. She is so un-organized, degrading, expects everyone to know what she's talking about yet does not explain anything thoroughly, her assignments/tests do not align with what she's teaching us?? She does not give feedback on anything
She doesn't give you any opportunities for extra credit. I currently have a 59 in the class and have no way to improve my grade and I have one test left.
This is the worst professor ever. Not only is her grading extremely tough, but she does not teach. Her lectures are about a research paper and if you don't have the paper perfect, you can expect to fail. Does not teach, help, or assist in any way. She is there to basically criticize everything you submit and do. Do not take, you've been warned.
I have never had such a terrible experience with a instructor in my life. She is the worst teacher I have ever had. She gave us an OUTDATED pdf link for the book. The book had incorrect formulas and broken links. Her homework assignments did NOT match the book at all. Her video lectures were poor quality and it sounds like she was reading.
This is the worst experience I've ever had with a class. Throughout the year, Dr. Andersen would review our work over the year for a "constructive peer review" from her and they were anything from constructive. Rather than constructive criticism, it was negative criticism. The tests are "from the textbook" yet the ovr class exam avg of 2021 was 61.
You only have 4 tests that are 100 point and 2 homeworks per test that are 15 points each for the entire year. I did bad on an exam due to technical difficulties and she reopened the exam and let me retake it, but she was really hard to reach and I needed to call the psychology department just to get ahold of her.
She makes me want to quit school. She gives no guidance and her instructions are so vague. The only reason I barely passed is bc a girl in my group failed this class with her already and knew what we needed to do. Her tests are awful too, 75 questions and 65 minutes. Questions were multiple paragraphs too and doesn't give study guide
Dr. Andersen is by far the worst professor I have ever encountered. She is lazy and narcissistic. Her class is a complete waste of time, you will not learn anything. She refuses to do her job or grade so expect peer reviews and vague instructions. If you want to be miserable all semester take her class.
I'm a 4.0 student and this class ruined it. During lectures, she just sits behind the computer, shows 3 slides, and then a bunch of ted talk videos rather than actually lecturing. She doesn't cover HALF the material that is on the exams. The tests are very hard (65 questions in 45 min). I would take literally anyone else.
DO NOT TAKE HER! The discussions are okay but the exams which include PARAGRAPHS for 75 questions and only 65 minutes to complete it is ridiculous. You cannot even read things correctly if you are worried about the timer. You dont even have a minute per question. Her feedback is ALWAYS negative and makes you feel stupid. Take ANYONE else.
Do not take this professor. She is a very hard grader and only tells you what you are doing wrong, not how you can fix it. The exams are very hard and you get about 60 minutes to answer 75 questions so I felt like I was racing a clock to finish and it made it hard to even concentrate on the questions. Course load is very heavy as well.
Dr. Andersen was a great introduction to Psych for me. From day one I got the impression that she enjoyed what she teaches and wants her students to feel the same way too. As for work it was all online chapter reading and answering questions. As long as you did it before the next exam you got full credit. Overall would highly recommend!
She never had anything good to say. Every assignment was filled with mean/ rude comments. We also had a group project where we had to write a research paper on something random? Everyone was stressing and she didn't put final grades in until last minute. Literally take ANYONE else for this course. Research methods should not have been this terrible
Professor Andersen was a great professor. She always explained topics thoroughly during lectures. Make sure to do the reading and the connect assignments, they help tremendously on the test. Although it is a long lecture, go to the lecture and stay because some information she teaches is not covered in the textbook or on the connect assignment.
Only two assignments in between exams, and they take 2 1/2 hours each and are only worth 15 points. The tests are worth 100. The tests are extremely difficult and ask very specific questions.
There are 2 hour connect assignments worth only 15 points so pretty much only the exams matter. they are 65 questions in just 45 minutes so it is really hard to answer everything. also have to do 4 hours of research participation. there is absolutely no extra credit.
The class is pretty easy as theres only about 8 assignments and 4 tests. the lectures are boring and honestly you could skip them if you really wanted to. The test aren't hard but they have a lot of questions and not a lot of time. Take her if you plan on studying a lot as she teaches pretty well, don't take her if you don't need the class.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU WANT TO FAIL!!!! The professor is awful and reads straight from the powerpoint. The lecture is not engaging and this is a 3 hour class!!! I would not this class again! She just reads off the powerpoint and assigns test that are 60 questions and only gives 40 minutes for the test!!!! You can't use notes on the test!!!
Dr. Andersen was a great professor. Her lectures are not as boring as some other reviews are saying. She did a couple Jeopardy review games for extra credit on the exam. There is a lot of reading for the course, and the Connect assignments take a few hours (you can split it up over a few days) so plan accordingly.
Exams are weighted heavily. Boring lectures. A lot of time consuming homework.
She almost never provided any positive feedback on any assignments. Would encourage asking questions, but was NOT approachable in response. Probably one of the most disappointing experiences I've had in college. The research paper brought my grade from a low A to a C. She'd give bits of feedback throughout, then at the end drop a load of criticism.
You'll be doing 2.5 hours of homework a week and taking exams that determine your entire grade every 2 weeks on a lockdown browser that watches your eye movement to detect cheating. She posts assignments and emails at 1 and 2 AM but is rude when you email after hours. Would not recommend.
Exams are worth 100 points and require hours and hours of studying. No wiggle room as there are very few assignments worth 15 points each. Make sure to listen to lectures. Great communicator!
this class was the first class that made me wonder if I was going to pass or not. I think Professor Andersen is a great professor for certain people. I dont think she was necessarily the right professor for me though. I suggest if her terminology is confusing, PLEASE WATCH OTHER psy101/general psy lectures on youtube, this is how i passed!!!
The professor was difficult to get ahold of, the only assignments were the exams which took 2 hours on a complete lockdown browser and McGrawHill assignments that took 2.5+ hours. Although there was only one assignment a week i was difficult to complete. Lectures are 2+ hours long although they are split into 3 recordings for each week.
Andersen was a eh intro to psych teacher. Her lectures were ok but I learned things I was able to apply to my every day life. Its a self taught course. You have 1-2 assignments every week and 4 exams. The content you learn is difficult, but she throws out a bunch of questions each test giving you a better grade. You could find a better professor.
Andersen's intro psych class is tough, but manageable with Unstuck ai and other study resources. Exams are challenging, but she offers a curve. Lectures can be dry, so supplement with outside materials.
Dr. Andersen's psych course LOT of reading and homework, but as long as you complete the homework assignments on time you receive full credit. You will compete for up to 10 points of extra credit for each exam. Attendance is imperative. Under Dr. Andersen's instruction, it's a straightforward class that is easy to succeed in if you apply yourself.
If you have the option, take with any other professor. She is very strict and not understanding at all. Textbook is required and she has an attitude in emails. No extra credit and no makeup exams at all doesn't matter the excuse. TAKE WITH ANYBODY ELSE
The exams in this course are terrible, she will give large paragraphs for each question but still only give you 65 min for a 60 question exam. When she grades the big paper she is incredibly strict and will take points of but not tell you why or how to fix it. She says her communication is great but her feedback is awful.
Genuinely, do not take this professor at all costs. Rude in tone/is not caring about student understanding and success.
2nd time taking this prof for Psy. I've noticed her curriculum is designed for both her and us to have an easy, laid-back semester. Plenty of extra credit. Teaching style makes class feel extremely light since she uses programs like InQuizitive. You just have to be able to direct yourself in a course and manage your time. Would take 100 times over.
This class is fine. Every chapter you'll have a smartbook assignment to do and then an exam for every 3ish chapters. She posts a lecture for each chapter and as long as you listen to those I think you'll be fine for the exams.
Probably the most utterly demoralizing educational experiences of my life. Communicating with this professor for this course was like pulling teeth. I never got a morsel of positive feedback from this professor. Spoke to multiple other PSY3213 students with different profs, and none had this experience. Save yourself a long, long headache. Please.
take literally any other professor. Difficult to reach, and when she does answer, it is cold, rude replies with no empathy or understanding. I worked hard all semester, never turning in a late assignment, always working on things early. She gave terrible homework grades with no feedback, just handing out Cs, Ds, and Fs seemingly for no reason.
