The assignments are easy for the most part. The hardest part would be the tests probably.
Lots of work, but I've never seen history taught like this - lots of images and powerpoint and other stuff that keeps me interested
Loved Loved Loved
Interesting teaching style, very down to earth - she's even on my buddy list. Unforgettable woman and she's very passionate about history and how it applies today. Great professor! She and her class will spark an interest in you and make you want to learn more. Good stuff! Hey stacey! :)
Boring. Too easy. Easy A, though. Her dress would be cool, except she's sloppy. Nice teacher, just not very inspiring.
I never thought I'd like history - she proved me wrong! I'd DEFINATELY take her again!
If your planning on taking history... take it with Kowtko!!
I adored her so much, I took her a couple of times. The class was a bit slow at times, but a lot of fun and pretty interesting. She has such a neat personality, too!
Stacy is one of the best teachers I have ever had, she has a wonderfully unique syle of teaching and an even better personality!!
Really nice person; but often seems like she doesn't know what she's doing or where she's at. It's easy to get lost and stay that way.
Had to post after reading that last one, maybe they got the teacher wrong? She repeats so much about assignments and what's coming up, the only way to get lost is to not be there. The lectures jump around in time, because she teaches different, but I liked that the best. Made me feel like I actually learned something. Take her classes!
thanks for a great class Stacy. If I had the opportunity, I would take another; very helpful
Stacy is a great teacher. She is an extra credit hound which can really help. If you want a good grade in this class you can get it. She also makes the material fun and enteresting.
I loved taking history from stacy. She makes it really interesting and even though her junkies seem lame at first, after you complete them you realize that something was learned. I love the way she lectures.
She is very helpful, you can email her any time of the day and she will be there to help you through antyhing! She explained things very well, and she had fun at the same time. I thought she was a very interesting person and very compassionate about her job. I would love to take her again! :>)
Absolutely the best teacher ive ever had. She really does make learning fun! Really creative, especially with her junkies! I loved those! I came into that class knowing nothing about history and with no interest to find out anything and i learned alot and enjoyed every minute of it. I loved the fact thats she always there to help you, 24/7.
this class was harder than i excpected, but she gives A LOT of e/c. writing intensive, so be prepared. theres a lot of reading to do one your own, and must have email. good thing is if you forget to do an assignment, you can go home that night, do it, and email it to her by midnight, but not recommended.
very fun class to take and the professor was a great help
Is just a bit wierd and somewhat negative.
Way weird... but not negative, I don't think - cautious, realistic, but very interesting.
this was a very interesting class...it got you thinking and she made history very interesting. love being able to email the assignments if i forgot, but not recommended. very reading intensive, and lotsa writing and discussions...but it all has a point. shes good with e/c....recommended to those who are willing to put the extra work!!!!
Best teacher i've ever had. I've been fortunate enough to have good history teachers and it's led me to love the subject even more.
Excellent Professor!!!! Stacy makes learning history exciting and interesting! You won't regret taking one of her classes!! She keeps it real and fun! The class I took, she let us use notes on the test and was very fair on grading!!
You have made me realize how much I have to look forward to in my future. You are really inspiring me to want to reach my goal. You have helped push me over the hump I was stuck on. I love your teaching style...I will definitely take you again...and maybe someday I can be your work study!!!
online hisoty. i can't stand this class. i have other class homeworks that i need to do to but can't get to them cuz my time is consumed by this damn class. ITS NOT ENGLISH!!!! this is what she said, and i quote, "if you don't know what it means then research it cuz i'm sure you have nothing better to do this summer!" how ignorant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mrs. Stacie is a great teacher. She not only knows what she's talking about, but Sshe's really cool. I really like that she is available online at all times, and always accepts homework even if it's late. She has such a passion for history. If I had more teachers that loved their students as much as she does, I would have a 4.0 GPA overall.
By far one of the best teachers I have taken in my life. She is more than welling to make sure you pass. You can talk to her anytime by email, msn or aim, or even going to her office. She offers a lot of extra credit and she gave out a study guide for the midterm and we got a take home final. Did an excellent job in teaching you everything you need
Stacy is the BEST teacher in SCC that iknow of. She is fun, her classes are extreemely easy to pass and i mean EASY!!! If you can have her as a teacher dont think twice, register for her class. I mean she gives you candy, thats sweet.
Amazing, simply stated professor Stacy is able to capture minds. She is somehow able to make boring material into a fun and exciting project. Stacy is very helpful and makes herself available online, despite her busy life. Remember this keep a portfolio of your corrected essays, you can build on your past mistakes.
A great teacher, helpful and keeps the expectations clear.
Took this class online, & mostly enjoyed it. She's easy to work w/, very accessable, & provides plenty extra credit. Lots of writing, but her expectations are realistic -really cares that you just understand the concept and make the effort to show! Non-intimidating. Wished she'd post assignments on dates where she expects you to start..not finish.
Stacy is a great person, really interesting. She's extremely unorganized and doesn't make her wants clear. we spent half the class everyday going over "housekeeping." waste of time TONS of extra credit and very easy class to pass if you just show up.
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! very nice, helpful, intersting and A LOT extra credit points, it your own fault when you don't take the opportunity and do them! it's a writing intensive class so there is a lot work to do but still easy! Stacy is an awesome person!
I am currently taking Western Civilizatin online with her. I would not recomment it! It is easy work, however extremely time consuming and somewhat useless...she is an easy greader, however it takes her forever to grade and it seems as though she doesnt even read the time-consuming assignents you worked hard on! Also, has many assignments
She is an amazing person! The class was soooo time consuming though! She gives so much work, but gives you full credit if you just try. Tons of extra credit saved me.
Other raters are not kidding when they say this class has a lot of work. Her online class sucks. Her few lectures are on ppt's that are mostly full of tangents and totally hard to follow. Don't take this class unless you have a lot of time to devote to it. There's a lot of writing involved...
Stacy is unorganized, crazy, and AWESOME. She is absolutely adorable. Some days end up being very little lecture, and more talking about what is coming up, but overall, you learn so much about history, and the world. She challenges your views and makes you reconsider the world as you know it. This class was incredible, so glad I took it!
I just love her! Great instructor, great person. love the class. i have had history in the past,, nothing has stuck. she makes you get in their shoes and not stress over names and dates..this helped me to remember more and actually learn more way better to take in class rather then on line.
Great teacher, best I've had all year. She's pretty organized, and is very clear about assignments. There's a lot of writing, like the 6 page final essay, but she organizes it in such a way that makes it not seem so bad. Plus, if you get behind, there's a crapload of extra credit that you can use to bring your grade up.
HIST 116 online is terrible. This is the worst class I have taken in college. Stacy is unorganized, takes weeks to grade work, and her feedback is worthless. Most of the time, I knocked out the papers in about 10 minutes because I figured she doesn't read them anyway. I learned NOTHING about history in this class. WORTHLESS. Take someone else.
I loved her class- taught a lot and was very informative!
Stacy is an AWESOME teacher! She is very interesting to listen to, she rants a little, but in a good way. She makes you rethink your views on everything, and reminds you that its okay to be opinionated. You learn history, but you also learn about life in general. I would even go listen to her lectures outside of class if I could. Shes swesome!! :)
She is very personable, loves to talk, and is always available to help. However, when it comes down to *teaching* she falls flat. Her class lectures are rants, she NEVER stays on topic. Her HW is SUPER easy, she doesnt have tests, and I can safely say that I learned nothing from her. I BSd all the assignments and ended up with over 100% in the clas
Her assignments are meaningless. Her feedback is worthless. She calls in sick to half her courses. She's smart, but has zero teaching skills, and never does what she promises. I can't believe she's still employed, but then it is SCC. I learned NOTHING from her and consider her class a total waste of time and money, though I got over 100 percent.
An interesting course overall. Prof. Stacy does rant and her lectures are not very good. She is disorganized. She makes up for this by caring about her students' success and she's very accessible. I learned a lot, but my learning was largely self-directed. Do the busywork and read the books and you'll come away from her class happy.
Took this class on-line. Her grading was easy, but the workload was to the moon and back again. If you make an effort you will be rewarded. She was very helpful and very knowledgeable. In the online format she was very organized, but grading took a long time. Worthwhile class if you can handle the workload.
Super writing extensive class.. Requires an extreme amount of work. You might as well take this class on line because you leave virtual nothing in class.. Would be a great instructor for someone who doesn't mind doing tons of tedious work. Definitely one of the easiest graders I've ever seen..
I'm in one of Stacy's online classes, and it's incredible! I feel so much more involved in the material and assignments than I've felt with any of my other online classes. Prof. Stacy will truly make you work hard, (def. earn your grade!), but you'll learn so much. Love it! I'm absolutely looking to take another class from her next quarter!
She expects a lot of work, but is lenient with grading.
Very good teacher. Most of the class work is online. No tests in class and she offers a lot of extra-credit. Easy 4.0. I would recommend her.
She is a teacher for all seasons, I love her teaching style she can help and replay your email really fast, her computer skill is amazing. If you need to learn history she is the one.
She is an amazing teacher.I took her for2quarters&i'm planning on taking her again. I learned a lot in that class in such a little time period. Her assignments are very do-able&I found very easy. She is extremely clear&very understanding. She puts her students1st in any circumstance. You can tell she loves her job&cares about her students.IRecomendher!
4.0 CLASS. You can attend class only a week for the whole quarter and you still will have A if you try good. I had over 100%. I did not read the second book that she assigned, I just underline what I thought is most importanat and I still got A from those assignments.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!!
She is disorganized and all over the place almost 100% of the time, but easiest class. I got well over a hundred percent without reading a page in the book. If you want to learn then read it if not you don't have to. Your in community college don't expect more than you should. Pick her.
Professor Kowtko is AMAZING! Would definitly recommend anyone take her classes. She is a wonderful teacher and overall interesting person to know... doesn't hurt that she is really easy on the eyes either. FANTASTIC Professor!
The workload is alot, But this IS College. I still really enjoyed this class, online. And learned alot. Shes super nice and you can tell she really cares. She will email u about ten times a day because shes that devoted to her students. AWESOME teacher. Ill be taking her again.
Her teaching was very different, but it made learning US history very interesting. She tends to go on rants, but she is still a great teacher.
AVIOD IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! I learned nothing from her and she just gave us tons of busy work that was about researching, NOT HISTORY! I only learned from reading the book (you don't need the online code) and her instructions aren't usually very clear. The group project was okay, but class time is useless, but she gives points for attendance.
SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She is such an amazing teacher, she is very clear and precise, she gives you such clear guidance and directions.
Lots and lots of homework, but lots and lots of extra credit. Fun Class. Great Teacher!!!!!!
Professor Kowtko is a fantastic human and inspiring instructor. I have so much respect for her.
LOTS of homework, but also lots of extra credit opportunites (very small points offered).
I have taken 3 of her classes, 1 online the other 2 on ground. She rants a lot but in my opinion it really helps. There is a lot of work, but this is college so I don't really know what people expect. Overall she is a great teacher for me. Her teaching style is different so some people may like her and others may not. I would suggest her.
The beginning of the quarter was alright, I knew it wouldn't be easy because I was taking online. The last couple of weeks was really irritating for me because she assigned a massive amount of work, it seemed almost as much as I had done all quarter. My recommendations: DO NOT take her online.
Stacy grades fairly, communicates clearly and responds promptly to concerns. She assigns a LOT of work, though. Don't take this course with a mix of other hard classes. You will read and write a ton. Challenging and interesting assignments.
Gives way too much work, but a nice person outside of being a teacher.
She thinks her class is the only things you have going on in life. I wish I would have taken history at Eastern. I'm spending way too much time on stupid "busy" assignments.
Stacy is very nice and it pleasant to be around in class. My only problem with her is that she assigns a lot of assignments only a couple days in advance. She don't give students enough time to work and be human-beings.
I took classes with Stacy 3 times and loved it every time. I took one class online and it wasn't as good as the on ground classes (you get every Friday off) but that's just because she was very witty and nerdy and just a great person to be around. She is very kind and you can tell she likes what she's doing. Big group project and lots of busy work
She is a very easy teacher! It's an easy "A" if you do all the assignments. She doesn't believe in multiple choice tests. Her final is a big group project. If you like to a lot of easy assignments that get you an "A", you should take her. She is very easy to understand--she has an understandable vocabulary. Stacy is an extra credit professor!
Weekly assignments are posted in advance. Assignments are not impossible, but do take some time. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Course final is a large assignment and worth a majority of your grade. Be prepared to read the textbook and at least one novel.
Stacy was an awesome teacher. She was very helpful, she makes her office hours available for your needs. There weren't any tests in my class. There is a lot of reading but nothing hard. She has a lot of great material. I would defiantly take her again if I could. Assignments are clear and nothing was hard. Everything is posted on canvas in advanced.
I took Stacy for 2 history classes and I loved it! I liked her classes because she had a lot of busy work that cancelled of the test. She have not test which I loved! I got 100% in her class twice. All you have to do is just do a lot of assignments that include reading. If you want an easy A, then take her class! She gives tons of extra credit!
Don't do it! Yes, she is very nice and understanding. BUT there is SO much busy work and very little history. There is JUST SO MUCH HOMEWORK. Plus she's always making excuses for why she didn't grade when she said she would or be available. Canvas was magically always broken for her. Sometimes she's unavailable for days. Take a different teacher.
This class was honestly the easiest thing I have ever taken, just a lot of work. And sometimes she wont email you back for days even when she says she will, but will make up for it by giving you extra time.
The best professor ever!!! Stacy will always be there for you. She is funny, amusing and has her own sense of style. Gives tons of extra credits and assignments are schedule with plenty of time before due date. Show up do the homework easy 4.0 grade. I would take another class with her in a heartbeat.
I've had several classes with Stacey and she's honestly the best. lots of online work, but its not too tough. Very opinionated and rants, buts it was very entertaining inspirational.
She is a fantastic teacher even when life knocks her down she's always responsive to questions and if you have difficulty just reach out to her and she'll clarify. I took Hist 136 and 137 from her (I enjoy her teaching style) There are no clear cut answers her goal is to get you to really think about history.
Instructions very unclear, NEVER responds to emails, wants to contact though Facebook, but never gives her info. Assigned the wrong textbook, every week at least a 3 page paper due, ton of extra credit, but makes contacting impossible, assigns huge papers with little time, changes assign requirements and the due date after you have already started
Gets off topic during lecture. offers a ton of extra credit. doesn't do test but she does reading reflections. her assignments are time consuming but easy. shes a great teacher. show up. do what you need to do and its an easy 4.0
This was pretty much an English class. The only history I learned was from the book. She never shows up and when we do have class she just shows a movie. She would be a good teacher if she actually taught us history instead of just rambling on about assignments. I was initially excited for the class but have been very disappointed.
This was my 3rd class with prof Stacy and after watching her work thru chemo last yr and the aftermath this yr, while the class didn't cover as much as I wanted, her attention to the class and how much she cares about our success inspires me, especially with the migraines issue. She only missed 2 days even with all this going on. She is great.
Definitely take her out of all the options. "good luck knowing when something is due?" Whatever. The reason I pick her classes is all everything is on the online calendar. Even if something is moved that's where it shows and she sticks by it. Most classes are MUCH less organized. All you have to do is ask and she'll help. Definite my fav in history
Stacy had been my favorite professor so far throughout my college experience. She teaches in a way where everyone can understand history and enjoy it. I was never bored in her class. Despite a lot of small homework assignments that were graded easily, this class was easy and enjoyable over all.
Stacy was an amazing professor, she was easy to understand and she taught well. She doesn't give tests and grades every assignment quickly! A lot of group and online works well as online assignments. I would definitely take one of her classes again
At the beginning the class may seem like it will be over whelming because of how she describes the work load, but really it's not that bad. She gives tons of time as well as tons of extra credit. And she doesn't do tests but just pretty much asks you to summarize what you read about once every week. Super fun teacher & class. Easy A. Final not hard
There's a lot of homework & writing involved. Answers are in the back of the book;). As long as you write like the wind you can get an A. Super nice teacher and always responded to my emails right away. Everything's clear & organized. If looking for easy & you're lazy don't take. If you like writing and reading take. Lots of extra credit. Got 105%
Best teacher to take history! Lots of reading involved but that's a pretty universal standard for all college level classes. The quizzes are incredibly easy at the end of each chapter. They're just a couple of questions from different sections in the chapter that you write detailed but concise summaries. She gives good honest feedback too,
You will rarely read your textbook and for every test and assignment, you won't have to memorize names, dates or places. An easy class, technically you don't always have to be present but it helps your grade. The only part that mattered was the final presentation as there was no exam. Fun and easy class.
She was very friendly in her messages, there were a few assignments a week. It was very organized and clear. Assignments were not difficult, and I'm terrible at history. Lots of extra credit and also accepts late work.
Very understanding. Lots of reading and homework. Very understanding on the hard to grasp concepts. If you miss a day she has a discussion going on canvas that will help you keep up and also get a point for the day. Lots of extra credit. Great professor.
Great teacher
Stacy is amazing. I was inspired by history during her class. She does put you to work, but you take away so much from it. Definitely worth it. I'd take her again in a heart beat!
She gives lots of homework but it is really easy and is a completion grade.
very awesome teacher, super chill environment she creates. cares about students. i would take her class again
Prof. Stacy was hands down one of the best teachers I have ever had at SCC. There is a lot of writing going on but I was still able to live my life, get good grades in my other two classes, and have a 4.0's in both of the classes I took from her. To pass you have to listen to instructions, do the work, and have a desire to learn. Amazing Professor!
Be prepared to read, if you don't like reading, or your not a strong or fast reader, do not take this class, you won't do well. The homework is on the heavy side along with the reading. She doesn't give traditional test, they will be based off of your reading. On a more positive side, she is very kind, understanding, and will wrk with you if need b
Professor Stacy Kowtko's very amazing! I took her online class and passed with an A. The class's easy only if you spend time to read and do homework. There are lots of extra credits, and you must finish before its due. Highly recommended class!
Prof. Stacey was absolutely amazing! I took an online class from her and absolutely loved it. There is a lot of reading but the workload is not overbearing! Highly Recommend taking her if you can!
Prof. Stacy seems to be what she likes to go by. She is extremely clear about her instructions on assignments so its hard to mess up. She also offers a ton of extra credit and allows late work for a small penalty. You will have what seems like a lot of homework but its pretty easy stuff just time consuming mostly. I highly recommend taking her
Prof Stacy is a great teacher, she is very helpful and really attempts to be as clear as possible. If you don't understand something you can ask her and she'll explain it well. She does give a lot of homework. I took her online class and had to read two chapters of the textbook every week and there was often another assignment with reading and work
Great teacher. Homework is not hard, but rather time-consuming. However, I do not recommend taking this class alongside a writing-intensive English course and College Algebra course like I did. You'll probs get overwhelmed a bit.
Pros: AMAZING professor. Wants you to succeed. Clear instructions. Great feedback. Tons of extra credit. Down to Earth. Easy to contact. Kind. Interesting course content. Cons: NOTHING. I adore her.
Shes so nice and flexible with assignments! Especially if you take her courses online.
She was such a great professor! She really cares about all her students. She gives out a lot of extra credit and is really sweet!
She is an amazing professor and human really cares about what she is teaching. She is very helpful and is always available for students past, present. Lots of work but she does accept late work and will work with you. Gives lots of extra credit as well. I have taken her twice and would take, recommend people take her class. Very outspoken.
Professor Stacy is amazing, Great Human. She really does care about all of her students past and present. She is very easy to talk to and accessible during and after hours. She gives tons of extra credit and accepts late work ( for some deduction ). The homework is easy but time consuming. I have taken her class twice and recommend her to others!
This class work load was pretty heavy, that being said I learned a lot in this class and the teacher was very caring and not a tough grader!
Prof. Stacy is a great person in general. She was really helpful and gave out a lot of extra credit. There was quite a bit of homework but not too much. If I ever had a question or I didn't understand than I would ask and she would get back with me really quick. I would definitely take this class again! No complaints whatsoever.
There is a lot of reading and work involved, however it is not extremely difficult work.
This professor is amazing! Incredibly organized and thorough. She is very understanding and is reasonable with late work. She offers tons of extra credit. The course work is pretty heavy, but it is given in advance so it's all about time management. I would take her classes ant day!
This was a great class because Stacy was very organized and always answered every single question I had within a few hours. She gives very clear grading criteria and the work was not super hard. Some of it was time consuming, but what class isn't. I only had to do half of the final because of how much extra credit I had.
Amazing professor, super understanding. Lots of reading and writing though. I took this class online and all the assignments had at least a 6 sentence + answer required. But assignment and quiz questions were straight from the book.
Stacy is an amazing professor! She has her system nailed. I would recommend taking her online class any-day. Be prepared to read and submit many papers. There are many extra credit opportunities, use them ALL. The textbook is required, so be prepared to purchase one. This is a very easy class as long as you keep up with the work.
Stacy is super nice but you wont actually learn anything from her class. Its an easy A, IF you do the assignments. I took her on ground but it mind as well have been online. If youre actually interested in learn about history, dont take her class, but if you have lots of free time to do homework for an A, shes the one for you.
I enjoyed both classes with Stacy. It was a lot of work, but most of it was interesting. I really liked the stuff she talked about in class. It made me want to be there. She made me think about things she said in different ways. I recommend her classes if you want something different.
Stacy was one of my favorite profs, I loved that she was open about her own life and her beliefs and left space for other people to have their own opinions. She is very intelligent and gracious when it comes to grades. If you pay attention you will pass easily. She cares for her students and wants you to succeed.
There is a lot of homework for this class, she gives time to do the assignments though and she will sometimes change the due dates if you are struggling. She wrote her own history book and it is all online you will have weekly assignments to complete. Overall she is a good and understanding teacher
Stacy was the best! I took her online History 136 class. Yes, there is reading and a some writing for the assignments, but it's the best class to take for history. I wish she taught English or another subject too, I'd definitely take her. She is amazing and an amazing grader. Definitely would recommend if you suck at history like I do!
Stacy is an amazing teacher! Sometimes you might feel overwhelmed by the amount of work because I know I sure was. However, if you just take the time to look at the work, you'll realize that it's not even that hard. Just because it's an online class, it doesn't mean there is less work. Stacy also offers A TON of extra credit and she offers help!
Stacy is amazing! She truly cares about your success and wants you to do well. There is a bit of reading, but it took me no more than an hour to complete most of her assignments. Also, there are a lot of opportunities for Extra Credit to the point of which you only have to do half of the final (which is already open note).
She's wonderful! I didn't do a ton of reading because I knew how to look for the specific sections of the text I needed to get the right answers. I HATE History and I genuinely enjoyed her class and learned a ton! You'll get a good grade, all you have to do it try and talk to her if you're having trouble. HIGHLY recommend.
I just finished this class Spring 2020, and I have to say I absolutely adore her as a professor. She does assign a TON of homework. I did not believe the other students in their reviews about the amount of work. YOU WILL HAVE A TON OF HOMEWORK. She is wonderful though and has a few extra credit opportunities. You rock prof. Stacy!
Stacy gives good feedback, she is passionate about History and overall I learned a lot in her class. You do have to work for the grade though. Be prepared to read.
Online class, I learned a ton and really enjoyed the reading. Online has no lectures, but the assignments are weekly and require you to read and understand the material. Fairly writing intensive, but not difficult writing.
Professor Kowtko is the chillest professor I've ever had. She gives feedback on every assignment that's turned in and tells you why you got the grade you got. She gives a ton of extra credit in all the classes that she teaches and her assignments are clear so you'll know exactly what you need to do. She always available and always accepts late work
This is based on the online-only class, summer 2020: This course was reading and writing intensive. Be prepared to do a lot of time consuming reading/writing. No lectures, just assignments from book. Almost no involvement from Prof. Stacy. That being said, a good grade is achievable if you put in the work. Stacy seems pleasant, and is approachable.
Stacy was a great professor! She gave clear instruction for all assignments and was a very easy grader. I had to take the class online because of rona and even when I turned in assignments an entire day late I still got full marks. Had 100% for most the quarter without too much effort.
Super cool, super chill lady, but her workload was ridiculous. She makes students study her own book. Her assignments are not worth enough points for how much effort you need to put in to get a decent grade. It's similar to writing six short essays a week for only 10-20 points maximum for each. It's a shame, because her book is kind of interesting.
Honestly Prof. Stacy is awesome. Her workload is annoying, because it feels like writing five short essays a week, but as long as you spread the work out over the week, it's totally fine. She always accepts late work, so even if it's late by several months you can still get 50% credit on it. She's super sweet too, would totally take her again.
Stacy was an amazing teacher to have during these trying times. There is a decent amount of reading to do and at least 5 writing assignments per chapter. She is NOT a tough grader and you will do well as long as you thoroughly answer the questions. She offers A TON of extra credit too. She responds to emails extremely fast and is very helpful.
Stacy is the sweetest. She requires a lot of reading, but if you skim through, you can get an assignment done really quickly. Shes an easy grader, and as long as you put effort into your assignments, youll get an A!
I never missed a point in her class on anything including the final, she makes everything very clear and is so nice and very easy to communicate with and gives a lot of extra credit. i ended with 103.15% in her class and didnt even do all extra credit opportunities. i would highly recommend her, even though she does give a good amount of work.
This was the best teacher for this class. My first time in running start and she made it way better. She did not grade harshly and was always super kind. She always made sure that her students would understand the elements. I would strongly recommend!!
Stacy is an amazing professor who really cares for her students and wants the best for them. She offers tons of extra credit, so do it if you have the time! If you do the assignments and put in a little effort it's an easy A. I would totally take her again if I have the chance!
Each week there is a a decent amount of assignments spent a few hours a week on the class, work may take a little bit, but not hard at all and if you participate you will get a good grade. She is nice and understanding and not too harsh on grading.
A few assignments a week and they may take a little bit, but as long as you do the assignments and read some of the history book youll get a good grade. She is very understanding and caring. Definitely would recommend.
The best instructor out there! super sweet woman and she gives 10% extra for grading papers late. She's understanding and is always ready to help. Responds to emails asap and gives you detailed answers. Would love to have her for every class! She gives daily emails to all of her students about the day's work and announcements.
she has a pretty high work load but once you get in the rhythm this class is not hard. she gives tons of extra credit for late grading and is good about responding to emails. recommend!
Professor Kowtko's class was really great. Her tests were designed really well, and her expectations for our assignments were clear. If I had any questions about the material, she was often available not long after to help. She has her assignments divided into categories which makes it easier to understand what to expect from an assignment.
Professor Kowtko is very knowledgeable and wants all her students to succeed. Her syllabus and modules are easy to follow. She lays out exactly what she is expecting of you, so it is easier to understand and follow. Highly recommended for all history classes!
One of the best course I have taken here. She is a very personable professor and genuinely cares about students. She took time out of her schedule to help whenever I asked for it. She also provides a ton of extra credit. I did enough that I could skip a section of the final that I was struggling with.
This is hands down the best professor I've ever had. I took her History 105 course (not an opt. on drop down) and let me tell you, the class is so much easier with her teaching it. She's so understanding and actually helpful. I wish she could teach all of my classes.
Prof. Stacy is by far the best professor ive ever taken a class by! She is super kind & caring. There is a lot of reading in this class, but is completely manageable to complete if you manage your time okay! Also has TONS of extra credit & will give extra points on assignments she grades late. Wish Prof. Stacy could teach all my courses!
Professor Kowtko makes you purchase a very expensive textbook that she wrote. It was not a hard class, but she asked us to friend her on Facebook and gave lots of TMI updates about her life. I don't really care about learning personal details about my prof. She's a fine person but I will avoid her classes in the future.
I liked her classes. I took two. Yeah, I guess you could say shes TMI, but shes one of the few teachers I felt cared about me as a student and a person and that made it easy to talk to her. She offered Facebook, even, to make it easier and faster to get in touch with her. And her classes are interesting. Definitely worth it.
i really liked professor stacy! she has been so sweet to me and yes, she does share a lot about her life but it makes me feel more comfortable. this class has the least amount of work than any of my other classes currently. just turn your assignments in on time and you will be great! not difficult at all.
She's one of the nicest professors I've ever had. Maybe about 5 hours of work a week. Put in the effort and you will get an A on every assignment. She also offers extra credit and is not too strict with due dates. Just MAKE SURE TO NOT PROCRASTINATE, or else you will be buried in homework.
Overall a good teacher, gives you a ton of ways to reach out to her, and encourages communication
Don't do it! This class is a joke! You have to read through a huge timeline and long page every week and then you get 5 assignments and each one has 1-2 sources. Most of the assignments have 400-600 WORD requirement so you are writing the equivalent of a few essays per week. She's too loose with grading and due dates so it's easy to get behind!
This class was so much work, but Professor Stacy was always available for questions, for help, for leeway. She grades pretty easy too. It made the short summer quarter less stressful knowing I could ask her for help or support even about things that had nothing to do with the class
Professor Stacy is an outstanding professor. She is kind and caring and her love for human connection is transparent. She gives so much of her time and many ways to communicate. I see some rates say Tmi but I like when people humanize themselves. She is the most approachable instructor I have had. I feel comfortable emailing her for support.
Most in person class times are used for lectures, making work and assignments done outside of the class. The workload can be a bit much depending on the week as there are no tests, and late work has a grace period. There is also a surplus amount of extra credit that you can do to raise your grade.
Stacy is a great professor. She does give out a lot of hw each week (it's manageable), but there are times when we don't have assignments a certain week. She accepts late work with no points deducted and gives out a lot of extra credit. Days on campus were just lectures and we did our assignments, quizzes, and essay online.
This class requires a ridiculous amount of work. She's nice and its easy to get ahold of her, but the amount of busy work she assigns is genuinely ridiculous. An upside is that she doesn't give tests. But I still wouldn't take it again, simply due to the amount of work.
I would have liked to take the class and i might have liked the professor but i got way too much work to be able to do anything. It was one assignment per day with 3 parts of it to 5 each time and those parts had parts to it. Even with a great late turn in policy it was challenging. I do not recommend. It didn't feel like any history was discussed.
I loved this class. Shes very personable, and responds to emails quickly. People complain over how much work assigns however she has a very flexible turn-in policy that makes everything manageable. Shes very clearly passionate about her job and it shows in her lectures. Her class has a ton of reading though, and some of the text is hard to read.
Very lenient, only wants us to succeed in her class and is always accessible! Accepts late work a week from when the assignment was due, after only 30% is taken off final grade. Grades easy. The lectures don't ever correspond with any of the work that you do. Always 4 things due each week, SMR, other 3 are reg assignments. Not too much to handle!
Gives very lengthy descriptions of assignments, but not unnecessarily lengthy. Reading her instructions is helpful, I understood the assignments and material before jumping in. This made weekly planning smooth. Kowtko is very open with what's going on and what is expected. Extremely straightforward, easy to understand, and easy to work with!
This was one of the most awesome classes that I have taken so far in my degree! Stacy is a very inspirational instructor with very good content. Her class is set up for success but you have to stay on your work because its a heavy load class. I would love to have her as my instructor again because of how well she has developed this class.
This is honestly an amazing teacher. I took history 136 with her. Yes there is a lot of reading and a good amount of work. But Mrs. Stacy is honestly such an amazing teacher, she accepts late work, and she is so understanding. it is so easy to pass her class. She replies to emails very fast. And overall she is just so sweet and understanding.
If you need to take a History class, GET THIS PROFESSOR! Her late work policy relieves SO much stress especially with a tight schedule, and if you turn something in more than 8 days late no matter how far into the semester it is, she only deducts 30%. She's hilarious and super sweet, 10/10! Work is sometimes tedious but easy and pretty fun!
I loved Stacy! There was a good amount of work you had to do for her class but honestly its a lot less then most other college classes I've taken. She has the most relaxed late work policy I've seen and SO MANY extra credit options its crazy. All of her assignments were easy they just took a while to complete.
Loved the class. You will need to purchase 2 books.1 the entire class reads and then 1 she will assign a few weeks into the course. If you read the material and can discuss the information you will do well in the class. There is plenty of extra credit. Scroll to the bottom of the work to find it. Lots of credit for documentaries. Just start early.
Answers questions quickly and posts her answer for everyone to see in case someone's scared to ask. The workload can be kind of heavy and reading intensive but the assignments themselves aren't hard if you just buckle down and do it. She also gives a week grace period for late assignments and offers extra credit options. Highly recommend!
It is very clear from the start that Stacy is passionate about history. For those also passionate about it, you would enjoy this class much more than I did. Constantly reading and writing (or typing) for assignments. Some difficult-to-understand assignments. But overall, when you get into the rhythm of the schedule, it becomes easier.
love love love her. if she grades stuff late then you get extra credit. super flexible late policy, and overall she seems to have a pretty easy grading criteria. super nice lady and very clear with instructions
she's a very nice professor but you better be ready to read lots of words. by that I mean that she types out everything to the point where it becomes confusing so if you're good at finding the information you actually need from a long long paragraph then this is your class. other than that she is very nice and understanding.
Prof. Kowtko is super flexible and understanding. The workload is manageable if you stay on top of it. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for efficient study prep alongside the course materials. Overall, a rewarding class with a great instructor.
Prof. Kowtko is by far the best professor I have had thus far at SCC. Workload is extremely manageable, and instructions and expectations are clear. Work is graded fairly, extra credit assignments are available, and the late work policy is very flexible. She is easily reachable and is a very kind and caring professor. I would take her again.
This is the easiest history teacher you will ever take in college. She gives you an extra 10% on assignments she is grading late. It is usually 3 homework assignments due Monday then a 2-4 question test due Friday. If you are trying, it is impossible to fail her class.
Amazing teacher! Nothing bad to say, absolutely loved having them as my history teacher and felt I was able to learn so much. The assignments consist of a lot of typing and research but as long as you show effort and try you will do well. Very kind and very helpful whenever I reached out and will always clarify if you need it. 100% Recommend!
One of my favorite professors i've taken at SCC. This was my last class I needed to graduate this year, and I was so nervous to take history. But she has made this such a great experience. She's very thoughtful in responses and extremely attentive. I just enjoy her. TAKE her even if you're on edge about history. She is worth it, I promise.
Overall she was an amazing professor, always answered emails through CANVA, and grades more on your knowledge and less on your writing skills. For a student who has English as a second language will pass this class if at least trying. I recommend taking her classes.
As a person, I loved professor Kowtko As a professor, I also LOVED her. So many options for extra credit, she was a good lecturer, and she focused on the importance of history not just meaningless facts. You can tell she loves her job and history which is inspiring to watch. I learned a lot through her class and got to explore my bias with help.
This professor is great. There is a reasonable amount of homework to be done, but on the bright side, there is an absurd amount of extra credit opportunities if you get off track somewhere over the quarter. The professor worked with me when I had a hard time, nothing more to ask for. Excellent Professor.
i LOVE LOVE prof Stacy! Such an amazing teacher and shes sooo sweet. Sometimes her lectures can be boring but there's extra credit in about once a week (doesn't have a due date) her assignments are super easy but its a lot and they take awhile sometimes. I like how she emails back pretty fast and also isn't strict on grades
sooo much homework her teaching is okay she gets sidetracted alot but still okay
super nice! she is willing to help u with other classes too. only spent like 30 on books. we haven't had any actually tests so that's awesome. she wants you to pass and will help in any way to make that possible. she respects opinions even when she doesn't agree. only thing is its a bit work heavy but worth it for no traditional tests
Professor Stacy is an incredible professor! She offers a ton of extra credit opportunities (my grade was over 100% the entire quarter), is flexible, available, and thoughtful with her assignments. The reading can be extremely dense, so breaking them up over several days is what worked for me. I'd 100% take her again :)
shes an okay teacher i get preety confused when shes talking because i feel she gets side trackted often. but oh my goodness. there is just so much work its so draining while she does have a flexible late work policy its still the most work ive done in one class in like ever if you procrastinate do not take this class i struggle all the time
I highly recommend taking Stacy for History 136. The class is overall easy, with about 4–5 assignments each week. She genuinely cares about her students, provides helpful feedback, and responds to emails very quickly. I took this class online and had a great experience!!
Took the online class. Lots of extra credit. Lots of reading. Assignments take quite some time. These assignments aren't necessarily difficult or busy-work; they are just time-consuming. We were required to read one independent reading book, which we were able to choose from five books. She is really understanding, and I learned a lot!
