Nice,interesting teacher. Notes/Test based off of oral lecture. Outline written on board. Small book report given. Fairly easy.. take good notes. NO CELLPHONES or COMING IN LATE!!!!

Dr. Dyer's pretty easy and he's realy nice too. You dont even need a book in his class because you get everything off the board. I dont think I've used my book once this term!! lol

He's full of information, and will be flexible when it comes to assignments.

Very funny man. He's understanding. His tests are straight from his lecture/notes. You do not need a book in this class unless you really need help. If you have questions about anything, he loves them.

Dr. Dyer is an enthusiastic teacher; you don't need to purchase a book, just pay attention in lecture and take good notes. The book report (or museum report) is very simple, and the class is very enjoyable.

Funny and easy. As long as you take good notes in class and listen, you should be fine. The "project" that he has you do is semi-fun and you learn too. He'll definately work with you. Hes a great guy.

he's great everyday when you come in phrases are on the board he lectures on them the next class time he asks questions about last times lectures as long as you know those answers you'll do great on the exam

History is a class that I DREADED! No interest whatsoever in the subject. However after 1 week in Dr. Dyer's class I was thinking that class is too short and I craved more! Makes a HUGE difference when you teacher loves his job & knows his stuff! I will be taking another class with him although I don't NEED it, I WANT it. (Hi Dr. Dyer! :)

Class is extremely intresting, but lots of notes from his lectures. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended over all other history teachers!

I would not say that Dr Dyers class was easy, however, the way that he presents the material makes it seem that way. He just has a way of teaching that really helps students take it in.

Take good notes. Notes written on the board are on the test. You will love to attend his classes. He makes history interesting! The book is rarely used.

I have taken him for HIST 1301 and 1302 and GOVT 1301. He is an awesome teacher who really knows how to relate to you and the material during his lectures. Take notes and ask questions if you're unsure of what he reviewed. Make sure you attend his classes as often as possible. I wish there were more teachers like him! :-)GOOD LUCK !!!!

Dr. Dyer covers all the material on the examinations in the lectures, and organizes the information for you clearly with outlines. I felt the information was a bit too heavily spoonfed, but the class is one I highly recommend to most people. You know what to expect, and you don't have to waste money on a textbook you don't want.

Stan Dyer is an amazing instructor. I like history before, now I love it. I wish I could have had him for all my classes. Don't read the book, you will waste your time. He tells you everything you need to know.

Book report is 2 pages he gives a handout telling how to do it. The report is a summary of the main idea, and your opinion of the book. I will take him fo 2302

Great prof. He is the epitome of a college professor. Take good notes, and dont buy a book! The only time you need it is to look over a section in the Constitution.

Don't even bother buying a book. All I did was buy a recorder, recorded every class, & took notes afterwards on everything he said. If you study this, you'll be sure to make an A. ALL of the material on his tests are what he lectures on, he even tells you this. The only thing I hated was how picky he graded the book reports, but good professor.

Dr. Dyer is a pretty laid back guy but he gets off subject alot so you might want to read your book if you miss too many days.

Cool teacher Easy class

Hey is a fantastic history teacher for those not very interested in History. I never liked history and always had a hard time in this class, but for the first time EVER I am getting a high B and loving history! He NEVER uses the book, but it is good to have if you missed a lecture. His papers are EASY if you do what he says you will get an A.

I LOVE this professor! I didn't have to take the second part of history but his lectures are so awesome, that i didn't want miss out! Love History, very intelligent and knows what he is talking about. If you love history, you'll love his class. Even if you don't like history, you might after you take him.

If you regularly attend his class, you could make an easy 'A'. All of his questions are from his lecture, So you don't have to buy a book. </p>I would highly recommend him

Great professor. Doesn't show up some days, so you're in a panic about making it to class on time and then the doors are locked and lights are off. Don't buy the book, I didn't even use mine. Take good notes and follow all his rules for writing the book report, (Have someone else proof read it.) I enjoyed listening to hislectures.

This class is an easy "A". Professor is very clear and helpful. His lectures are very boring reads the lectures notes to the class and then watch a documentary every single class. Easy but very boring.

I been in CTC for 2 and 1/2 years and Mr. Dyer a has been one of the BEST professor I have pick. This man know his history!!! the book we didnt use but all you have to do is study the notes he gives you and do well on the book report(that you have PLENTY of time to due) and you will di great. PS if you take him in the summer there is no book report

Great teacher. EXCELLENT. 2 exams, 1 book report were the only grades. I loved the class discussions. A white african american history teacher but he is very knowledgeable in that area.

Dyer is fantastic! His class is all lecture, and the test questions come from his lectures not the book. Take his class if you are a good not taker! Very friendly, and fun. I've never liked history, but I didn't mind taking his class. Don't buy the textbook, you won't need it! Would highly recommend everyone to take him.

Dr Dyer Rocks! all of the test come from his outlines on the board. He is real funny and knows what he is talking about. You have 3 grades which are 2 test and a final. Hey Dr Dyer! :)

Professor Dyer rocks. I came into this class with very little knowledge of American History. Dyer know what he is talking about. There are only 3 test. 2 test and a final. He gives you the notes to study so you don't have to use the book. All the answers come straight from the notes. I highly recommend him as a professor.Really snappy Dresser.

He made history interesting. Ask ?'s at the start of class. take good notes( all the ?'s on the exams come from the notes) NEVER OPENED THE BOOK. no hw, 3 exams, an a easy book report.

He is an easy A just take REALLY good notes and you will do good. I did not open the book once in his class and i had him for the 5 week course. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr Dyer does a good job at teaching the "history" required by the state. As a teacher, he is great and easy to follow. As long as you take good notes, you probably will never need to use your book. His tests cover everything he lectures of in class, so there are no surprises. He's a funny, quirky man, saying "howdy, howdy" as he walks in each day.

I took Dr. Dyer for American History 1 and 2. I did not have to buy the textbook for either class and made and A in both of them. You have 4 grades in the class which consist of 3 exams and one book report. Read the book, choose a book that interests you so it is easier. Write down the subjects that he puts on the board and you'll be fine.

He is the best teacher i have ever had. Yes you need to go to class and listen to his lectures, but he really gets your attention. Do not buy the book just go to class everyday... HE IS GREAT!!

Took summer 5 week session. 3 tests. 50 multiple choice questions each and all based on class lectures. easy A. Unfortunately, teacher makes comments about current events and clearly shows his liberal beliefs. Using a pulpit to push beliefs on a class that hardly knows enough to be critical of his asides is unprofessional.

TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! If history 1301/1302 are required this is the instructor you want!! He makes history interesting and engaging, and at times... presents it with humour! He is fair, but no nonsense, which is a relief. If you want to walk away feeling more informed about our nations history, Dr. Dyer is your best bet :)

I loved his class, He does asray from the book. However he makes the class enjoyable. I used to hate History but now I think it is intersting. He is the HARDEST on the book report though... Other than that what he writes on the board goes on the test. "BRING a Recorder" He talks fast. We had 3 tests and a book report.

I took Dr.Dyer for Hist 1301. I never touched the book and I got B in the class. Dyer is toughest when it comes to the book report. Copy everything off the board, leave space for lecture, and you will do fine. Definitely taking Dyer for Hist 1302. I enjoyed his class immensely.

Dr. Dyer is wonderful. You will love him. I took him for History 1 and 2. He makes class interesting and you will look forward to coming there. YOU DO NOT NEED A TEXTBOOK so dont waste your money buying one. However, YOU DO NEED A RECORDER. Everything he says in class WILL BE ON THE TEST.

Excellent teacher. Bring a recorder or prepare to take a lot of notes. His book reports are only two pages, but he is a stickler for grammar. He has a wealth of information to share and enjoys teaching. One of the greats!

awesome teacher. fun atmosphere, learned alot. dea gawd have your book report looked over a 100 times, he counts hard for little mistakes. get the do and dont paper BEFORE you write the essay so you know what to do. test are easy and straight from his notes. highly recommend

Had Him for history I and II. He is awesome, never gives homework except the book report (1 per semester). If you listen to his lectures you could pass because he isn't a boring history teacher he is like Mrs.Frizzle from The Magic School Bus! If you take notes their is no excuse to fail he's so easy. But is serious about cell phones.

I was not interested in history before this class but he makes it very interesting. There are three exams, which are easy. And there is a two page book report on a 250 page book of your choice. I would recommend this teacher.

Dr. Dyer has been my favorite professor thus far. He is a great instructor, he tells you exactly what you need to know. You have four grades per semester, and opportunities for extra credit sometimes. Not only is he very intelligent, but he is funny and makes the class enjoyable. Plus he doesn't just lecture, he gets the class involved as well.

His classes are strictly lecture. He shows some videos to visual learners which helped me out. He is VERY knowledgeable in what he teaches. He answers every question, and if he doesn't know the answer he gets back to you. His class is somewhat difficult for tests, because it's strictly lecture...bring a recorder.

Dr Dyer was a very good instructor. He made sure we understood the material, by giving students time everyday for Q&A. He is strict, but the only students that complain are the undisciplined ones. He genuinely cares about his students. I would recommend this professor for a mature student that has been out of school for a while.

Dr. Dyer is by far one of the best educators of our time. He is extremely knowledgeable about his subject which is unmatched. He is tough but very fair. Take good notes, record his lectures and pay attention in class and care about what you are doing and you will do great. Took him for both HIST and loved every minute of it. Highly recommend him!

I LOVED THIS COURSE! His lectures were interesting and very valuable. The test were primarily from his lectures. He told you exactly what chapters to read and what information in the chapters was pertinant to the tests. He was a no non-sense instructor, but his class was fun and eduacational. I wish I had taken him for History 1301.

Dr. Dyer is one of the best history teachers I've ever had. History is not my forte, but I really enjoyed going to his lectures and even looked forward to going. I'm sad to say that I've finished my history requirements so I won't be taking him anymore :(.

Dr. Dyer is a no nonsense straight forward instructor. Especially at the very beginning of the 1st day of class he lays down the rules, procedures, & expectations of all of his students. He also is a wonderful lecturer & encourages his students to ask questions by becoming involved with the topic discussed.

At the start of every lecture, he will ask if anyone had questions from any previous lecture. Raising your hand to ask a question is very much appreciated in his class. He is not boring and has the ability to make everyone interested in history.

I took this and his Hist 1302 class back to back this summer and I'm glad I did. History is dry subject at times but Dr. Dyer made it very enjoyable. Tests are completely on his lectures and he has 'key phrases' he uses in class that are on the test. Good notes and attendance will be your best friends, but the material is not difficult at all.

I love being in this class, I look forward to it and never want to skip. He makes his lectures interesting and all you have to do is show up and take notes and you are guaranteed to pass this class with an easy A. Don't bother wasting money on the book, you will not need it. Definitely taking him again for Hist 1302.

Dr. Dyer's class was incredibly easy. He lectures for about an hour and all of the test questions come directly from the lectures. As long as you take good notes, you're set. There are three tests and a two page book report. He doesn't grade for content, just grammar.

Dr. Dyer is the ONLY instructor I remember by name during my tenure in Central Texas. I retained more information in his class & was inspired to "prove all things" when studying historical events. Dr. Dyer was by far one of my favorite professors at CTC. His class is easy as long as you take good notes and show up to class. His test come straight from his lectures. He's also a great storyteller and quite entertaining.
