Super easy if you show up to class and copy the notes; he'll tell you exactly what will be on the test; not much extra work, just a few map quizzes; class is super easy if you can memorize definitions.
Dr. Hopkin's class were very well organized. Class is simply lectures, and the notes are posted online, but there are some blanks, so you have to go to class to fill them in. Pop quizzes are easy and are a grade booster (they are open-note!) The tests are straight forward: multiple choice, truefalse, and short essay.
Hopkins puts the notes on his website, but there are blanks you have to fill in using his lectures. Tests are fairly straightforward, just multiple-choice and a short essay. He has a good sense of humor which helps negate some of the dull material. He's a fair & quick grader as well. Pay attention, learn the key terms, and you'll do very well.
Stan Hopkins is a great professor. While I had no interest in Geography, I looked forward to his class. He is a quirky guy and his fill-in notes are super helpful as well are his test reviews. No textbook! He gives popattendance quizzes.
Easy and straightforward teacher. Go to class- he gives unannounced EASY open-note pop quizzes that really affect your grade. Notes are put on his personal website and you just fill in the blanks during class. Tests are hard due to amount of content, but the information is STRAIGHT from the notes. Fast grader and no buying a book. Take this class!
THE MOST BORING CLASS EVER
Hopkins gives an excessive amount of information which makes the test really hard. He provides power points, but they are so intense. His tests are super hard, and I am very studious. Very detail oriented. He does give pop quizzes so come to class to bring your grade up a little. Take someone else honestly. It was really hard.
Almost no homework. Notes are all online but you need to go to class to fill in blanks. You can use notes on the pop quizzes so they are really easy.
An average professor. Any class that he teaches would be an easy A. His powerpoints are accompanied by "fill in the blank" notes which he provides online. Honestly, his class is easier than a middle school level course. However, his tests are directly from the notes, but be prepared to be tested on irrelevant information. Dr. Hopkins is boring.
I took this class as a second-semester senior. It was interesting, and I enjoyed learning about the material. The tests are easy I got 100+% on the first three and never below a 95 (and you can drop one) although a lot of the lower classmen struggled. He's funny too, wearing a bathing suit to the beach lecture and his cowboy hat other every day!
The class is pretty easy. Some days the lectures are really boring but he is a really funny, quirky guy. He doesn't take attendance but he has easy open note pop quizzes once every week or two, so if you miss class, just hope it isn't on a pop quiz day. The tests are easy, just study the notes because it is a lot of material.
Love this guy! Easy class. He's really nice and quirky & always in a good mood. Lectures are boring but you need to go to complete the fill in the blank notes he provides online. The tests are directly from the notes & you only need to study what's bolded. Plus he tells you what to study in the lecture. Plus attendance based pop quizzes! Take Him!!
He is a cool guy, but lectures are boring. Class was just fill-in-the-blank notes, so you need to regularly attend it. The tests were a lot more difficult than anticipated because of 10 lectures worth of notes being on one test. Be prepared to study hard, but he drops a test and gives an easy project. Pop quizzes are also relevant.
Don't get me wrong Stan is great. He does his best to make it interesting, and he doesn't make anything complicated. Overall, he's a good teacher and a good person who really does want his students to succeed! BUT the class is a lot. You really need to go, there's pop quizzes, and tooons of info, which makes the class hard just bc of the material.
Nice guy, boring lectures. Tests are easy, only study the notes that are in bold. Easy A if you study the material a few nights before the test.
Hopkins is nice, and occasionally tells jokes. It's hard to not fall asleep during lecture. Pop Quizzes are basically "attendance" quizzes, but you MUST go to every lecture. Map quizzes are easy, tests are too hard if you study. There's bonus questions on the exams too. I recommend this for an easy Physical Science, and the book is like $5.
Hopkins is a great guy. The subject that he is talking about couldn't be more boring and his voice doesnt help with that, but he does what he can to make it interesting. Notes are fill in the blank, and tests are right from notes-- but there are a lot of them. Lowest test grade is dropped. He is always available for questions.
Show up to class so you get attendance credit for the 6 pop quizzes he gives. He has extra credit questions on tests and assigns extra credit opportunities on textbook assignments. DO THEM! I ended up with a 102% in the class. Take notes and do flash cards on the bolded parts of his notes. Take this class (& show up!) if you want a GPA boost.
Stan gives you fill in the blank notes that you fill in during each lecture and the tests are exactly from the notes. He gives pop quizzes but if you're in class its an automatic 100. Very little homework and when you do have homework you have a discussion session after it the next class so you can get more information from your classmates. Take it
Hopkins is an easy A and a great guy. He is a cowboy, so thats fun. Attendance is not mandatory but he gives pop quizzes randomly that account for who is there and are 60 points of your grade. You literally just write your name on it and turn it in and you get the full points. Take him, hes great.
If you go to class and pay attention, the tests will be a breeze. Careful though, it is really easy to fall asleep since he dims the lights. Good teacher though, and a good class.
Super easy class! He gives bonus questions on the test and he gave us another extra credit opportunity this semester. I highly recommend 1125 over other courses because I've found that his test fro 1125 are shorter, but we have discussion questions. They really aren't hard, and they often times have more opportunities for extra credit!
Pretty easy. You need to go to class to get the fill in the blank notes and every once and a while pop quizzes which are basically participation. theres 4 tests and a final and he drops your lowest test. one projec that takes maybe an hour. If you just study your notes you'll be fine he makes tests straight off of the bold print. Not bad. No book.
Mr. Hopkins is a great professor for an introductory course. He is very knowledgeable about what he teaches. Tests are straight from the notes, not hard if you study. He gives pop quizzes, they do hurt you if you don't show up, but they are really easy. The project is really easy and doesn't take much time. Great elective course, great professor.
He is so nice! His class is so easy. He drops the lowest test. He does grades based on points, and I think he gave like 20 points extra credit. The tests are pretty easy and come straight from the fill in the blank notes. He also offers a few extra credit questions on each test. Just show up for pop quizzes and get full credit for them. Take him!
I took this class as an easy A science class, but it wasn't as easy as I expected. You definitely have to put in effort. The tests aren't difficult, but the ones in the beginning are harder than at the end of the semester. Go to class because he gives open note attendance pop quizzes, which can boost your grade a lot. Not a bad class but boring!
Stan (Arthur) hopkins is a really nice guy! I had him for weather and climate and it wasn't necessarily hard- it's just a lot of information to study for a test but he helps you out with bolded notes so focus on the bolded stuff. Attendance pop quizzes so it'll help your grade to come to class most of the time (there's not that many)
He's like the chillest guy ever. He gives pop quizzes but you get credit just for doing them. The tests are pretty straightforward but it is just ALOT of information. I studied for days before exams just because there was so much material, but he helps you by giving hints about the exam. Def recommend him!
Boring lectures. Fun professor. Easy test when you study good.
This class is for non-science majors who need to get a science req. out of the way, & Stan knows that. He posts all the notes online, bolds what you need to know, & doesn't take attendance. However, he does give out pop-quizzes. Although he basically gives you the answers for the exams, there's still a lot of info & you have to work for an A.
super funny guy. come to class cause you have pop quizzes. study the night before on quizlet and you'll be totally fine on all the tests.
Stan is hilarious and he knows everyone is taking his class as the easy science credit so he doesn't make it hard. Tests are straight forward. He gives u notes but leaves blanks so u have to go to class to get the full notes. He underlines and bolds words/phrases u need to know for the test. He gives 6 pop quizzes but u can use ur notes. GET HIM!!
To everyone constantly asking "which physical science is best to take" it's any of the classes taught by this guy. Every science at UGA is either incredibly difficult(Chem) or incredibly boring, and the core forces you to pick your poison. Even though its eye-gougingly boring at times, it's a fill in the blank class that is solely memorization.
Professor Hopkins is a very humorous guy! His lecture is interesting! But if you skip one class you will miss bunch of notes which is very important in exam! To be honest, if u want get an A, you should spend some time working on the exam. Generally, great class!!
TAKE STAN HOPKINS FOR AN EASY SCIENCE SCIENCE CREDIT. fill in lectures everyday and the tests are all multiple choice. Just cram and study the lectures a few nights before the test and you should be good. he is very specific about what is on the test and is always there to answer questions.
This class is very lecture based but can be fun if you laugh at Hopkin's jokes. The first test is hard but once you get used to the way his tests are formatted should be a breeze. Pop Quizs are rewards for coming to class and there is no textbook so the only way to get the material is the lecture notes.
Stan is the man.
Everyone said to take this class for an easy credit but it wasn't easy at all and tests were nearly impossible unless you studied for weeks in advance. If you want to have a life or time to do other homework besides geography don't take this class. Tests were very specific details barely touched on in class and lectures were painfully boring
He's like an awkward but funny (Sometimes) dad. No textbook required the notes are fill in the blank and tests are DIRECTLY from notes. He highlights what will be on the tests. 6 random pop quizzes that count for attendance (not accuracy) so just go to class honestly. Study your notes 2 nights before the test and use quizlet and you'll be fine
Take Stan Hopkins! This class is only lectures and the material is really boring but he practically gives you the answers for the tests by bolding what you need to know in the notes. It's a lot of studying for tests but it's just simply memorizing. Come to class- he gives pop quizzes for attendance.
He lectures everyday, and you need to pay attention. Study your notes for the test and you'll do fine. There are also several pop quizzes, so you need to show up to class. Overall, this class was fairly easy.
Mr Hopkins is nearly the sweetest professor in UGA, he is funny, energetic and smart, the attendance is not mandatory, but you'd better show up, because so many information to take with you and pop-up quizzes, yes, I highly recommend this class.
Take this man! He is always in a good mood, super clear with what we need to know for the test, and is very passionate about this subject. Got out the class with an A. The class can get a little boring at times, but in the end it pays to stay up and focused.
He made this class as enjoyable as someone could make Landforms.
I first want to say I don't think I would've made an A in Hopkins class without working for it. I studied my butt off. The thing about Stan the man, though, is that he makes very clear with his notes and review guides for tests what I should study. I spent hours for each text outlining the notes. He is a super chill guy and awesome professor
Stan is the man. Just study the powerpoint that you fill out in class and you will do fine, tests are strictly over the material on those powerpoint. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are random pop quizzes that aren't graded for accuracy, but just to see if you were there. Lowest test grade gets dropped and exam isn't cumulative.
Super straight forward class. He gives you notes with blanks and you fill them in from his powerpoints. All of his exams are based off the notes- he bolds the stuff that will be on the exams. He gives pop quizzes that aren't graded for accuracy- show up, get 100 for pop quiz grade. Easy class, great professor!!
Easy map test at the beginning, you drop the lowest test grade. Occasionally pop quizzes, not hard u can use your notes. Test material is straight from the notes, comes from bolded or colored areas of notes. You fill in the notes from his website. Not hard, tests can just have a lot of info to memorize
Pretty easy and straightforward class! He gives you notes where you basically just fill in the blanks during the lectures. There are a few map quizzes, class discussions about readings, like 3 tests (including the final), and some pop quizzes that basically are your incentive to come to class! Overall not bad at all.
Stan Hopkins is just a happy guy who really likes geography. He's a funny man, which helps considering how boring his class truly is. The tests are easy if you study and he offers multiple different options for extra credit.
GREAT FUNNY PROFESSOR. His exams are based off his lectures, which you must attend for the notes. He bolds the stuff that are on the exam and if you just memorize the bolded, you will make an A. Always extra credit on the exams. There are 6 pop quizzes which is a big part of your grade but the quizzes are for attendance. DO NOT MISS THE QUIZZES.
This class is an easy A as long as you study for the tests because there is a lot of information on them, however he tells you exactly what will be on them. He gives fill in the blank notes and pop quizzes for attendance checks (not for correctness).
Great guy, I had him for GEOG 1111 and it was definitely harder than I thought. He gives you all the notes with blank spaces, you just have to go to class and fill them out. 6 pop quizzes so make sure you go to class.
Stan is indeed the man.
Stan is the man. No textbook means tests are predictable and he gives you all the resources to pass. Beware though, the tests cover a lot of information and you will need to study for them. Good news is that he drops the lowest test grade you have. Save yourself and go to class so you won't miss one of the six pop quizzes he gives (attendance).
I thought this was going to be an easy class, which in a way, it was. His exams are all off of the lecture notes- note from note. He bolds the things you need to know but when you need to basically memorize 10 lecture notes, each 2-6 pages long, it gets difficult. Got an A but had to REALLY study for it
Funny guy. He's not out to get you. There are pop quizzes, but they only count for attendance. Lectures are pretty boring, but it's fill in the blank notes that basically let you know exactly what will be on the test. You'll need to put in some studying, but it's more than achievable to get an A.
Lectures are boring, but he is a pretty funny guy. Go to class because he gives out random pop quizzes ( Graded for attendance, not accuracy). Tests are straightforward because they come straight from the notes you fill out. However, tests cover a lot of material so study a couple of days in advance. Pretty easy class, just don't underestimate it.
Hopkins is very funny, nice, and wants his students to do well. Lectures were clear, but you do need to study for tests. There are pop quizzes that can really affect your grade, and notes are fill in the blank. So go to class, pay attention, review anything he puts online, and you can definitely get an A!
Easy class.6 pop quizzes randomly throughout the semester, 4 tests including final. Posts most of notes online but leaves a few things out, and highlights everything you need to know for tests. The tests conisist of multiple choice and a short response.
Gives pop quizzes instead of attendance. But GO TO CLASS! all the notes are fill in the blank, with each chapter having 68 pages of notes. You take tests for every 46 chapters, the tests are straight from the notes, but the notes would be like 4060 pages. Had to work my butt off for my A-. Took it thinking easy A science requirement. Not Easy A.
Not an Easy A but if you memorize everything perfectly and go to class, you can't not make an A. Pop quizzes but if you put any answer, you get full credit. Don't miss these quizzes. They will make or break your grade. Exams are straight from lecture and what you need to memorize is bolded.
Good guy, he understands that its an intro class and that it should be easier. Gives you fill in the blank notes and 6 pop quizzes that only count for attendance. His tests are easy if you study, BUT it is a lot of material. Dont cram.
He is really passionate about what he teaches. His class does not have mandatory attendance, but he does usually give 1-2 pop quizzes per exam.
Cares about the topic. If you put the right amount of time into the class, you will get an easy A.
Pretty straight forward professor. Lectures can kind of be boring, yet he makes funny comments. Best professor for intro to physical geog, as the other is much harder. Random pop quizzes which are 10% of grade, but besides that theres 0 homework and no textbook. Tests are exactly from lectures, just cover a lot so study a week ahead.
all notes, the entire class is listening lectures and the test are purely memorization, totally boring
If you don't like lectures, maybe this class isn't for you. There are six pop quizzes, but he lets you use your notes. Also make sure to bring your own, full-page scantron! That being said, Mr. Hopkins is a great professor and is really passionate about his subject material, which is well-presented.
Hopkins is the nicest professor I've had and loves to make corny jokes. There's 6 pop quizzes, but do not stress about them because if you just fill the sheet out he gives you a 100. They're just for attendance. Only study bold stuff in notes for tests, and I recommend going to class so you can get the notes because they're fill in the blank!
Everyone says this class is an easy A but his tests are actually difficult. He gives 6 pop quizzes throughout the semester so attendance does count towards your grade. Previous students said he was super easy-going but this semester he was not friendly or helpful during office hours
Dr. Hopkins is very kind, but his lectures are super boring. He makes the class super easy, and his tests are straight from the notes. Make sure you look at the slides he puts on the website before the tests. Make sure you show up midway through a unit, so you don't miss a pop quiz.
His class was really easy. You have 6 pop quizzes in a semester. For tests just study the lecture notes and the review slides and youll be fine.
Get in the quizlet group, quizlet is key. Pop Quizzes are usually a week before the test if I had to guess. Make friends in the class.
This class was harder than expected. I came in thinking it would be easy, but the tests come solely from the lectures, and the lectures cover ALOT. Get ready to study. However, theres 6 attendance pop quizzes, which helped my grade a lot. The tests and final aren't hard if you study a few days in advance and study all of the notes.
Stan is one of the best professors at UGA. He's super funny and keeps his class engaged. The class was very easy, as long as you show up and pay attention, you should pass. It's a lot of information to learn but there is never any homework and it's not hard material. Amazing class and professor!
Stan is the man you wanna take GEOG1111 with. Funny dad jokes and many more. Pop quizzes will appear but they are open notes. His tests are lecture heavy. You stay focused in class because you have to fill out the blanks. Super easy and chill class.
He is a really chill guy, notes are easy, tests are easy. He does his best to make boring information less boring. Good Professor
Stan is a great professor. Really gets into lectures and is super funny. Tests come straight from his fill in the blank notes so you just have to memoize the info to do well in the class. He gives 6 pop quizzes, but they are open notes. Would definitely take Stan again!
he has 6 pop quizzes so people come to class. he gives us an outline of his power point and everyone copies the boded words word for word that is posted during his lecture. he is very passionate but the topic is so boring. The tests aren't easy and are over 200+slides
I really like him. He is interesting and helpful. If you are looking for an easy A, don't choose this class. Although there are many handouts, if you study hard, you will be fine. You really have to pay attention to all the handouts. As an international student, I really enjoy the process of knowing more mew things in English.
Literally just show up & be a living breathing person to pass. Fill in the blank notes & anything in bold is on the test. There's extra credit on every test. Yes you actually have to go to class because there are pop attendance quizzes but they're open note & not even graded for content. Bonus: Stan likes to play music videos from 2008 before class
Lectures every single class. He gives you notes that following along with his powerpoints and the the information on the test is bolded. Go to class because he gives pop quizzes to keep up with attendance plus some extra credit quizzes. The test cover alot of information so study hard!
Get ready for dad jokes. The material taught in class is super hard if you're not a science person. He only teaches by lecture on a powerpoint. He doesn't take attendance but will do random pop quizzes.
Very nice, friendly guy. Tests are all based on lectures and you take fill-in-the-blank style notes on your computer. Tests can be tricky bc there's a lot of information, but it's essentially just memorization. 6 random pop quizzes that just check attendance. He tries his best to make the lectures entertaining. Not as easy of an A as I was told tho
Good professor, made the class as easy as he could. Not really labor intensive, just have to be in class for pop quizzes. No homework, just tests that take a lot to study for. Not a geography person but he knows most people in this class aren't.
This class was a lot more difficult than I expected it to be. The material itself is not hard, but it is just a lot that's covered. Definitely go to class because he gives pop quizzes and these can boost your grade more than you would think (bumped me from a B+ to an A-). He's a good prof overall, but just be prepared to study in order to succeed
This class was harder than I expected it to be but it's not bc of Stan at all!! He's actually a really fun teacher at times, he really tries to make a more dull subject interesting. Tests are weighted really heavily, 75% of class, and cover a lot of material, but if you study you should be fine. 4 tests (1 dropped), 1 project, and a final
Very clear about what would be on tests, no surprises, easy to understand, great guy!
This is an easy A for anyone who shows up to class and fills in the blanks on the professor provided notes. It is literally just a vocabulary/definitions type course. You dont have to understand the material, just memorize the definitions or examples of things in bold (bolder by him) for an easy A.
Solid teacher, easy pop quizzes - if you show up you get a 100. Very passionate about the subject and he understands most of us aren't science majors and tries to make it interesting. Attendance isn't taken, but you have to show up to get the notes. Test comes solely from the lecture/notes and are rote memorization - but there's A LOT of info.
Stan is the man. He's really funny and tries to make this boring stuff more interesting. Attendance not mandatory, but it's fill in the blank notes so have to come to get them. Tests have a lot of info on them, but it's easy stuff. Definitely an easy A if you put in a bit of effort. I would for sure take this class again with Stan.
You must study at least a few hours his tests, or you will not make an A. His tests cover a lot of material, but the content is not difficult to grasp. However, to understand you need to come to class and pay attention. Prof. Hopkins is extremely helpful outside of class and explains material very well. He gives attendance pop quizzes, so show up!
Stan Hopkins is an overall awesome guy and professor. The material on the tests comes straight from his notes. If you study a few hours the night before, you should still make an A on the tests. He gives pop quizzes randomly throughout the semester, and he lectures during every class. He is a super funny and a nice guy!
While he posts the notes online, they are not fully complete which requires you to go to class. While the information can be a bit boring, just fill in the notes and you should easily get an A in the class by just understanding your notes. Now it is a ton of material but it all should make sense because you've heard of all the topics before.
Hopkins made GEOG extremely simple and an easy A if you go to class and put in at least a little effort. The lectures are pretty boring, but as long as you study the notes the night before, you'll do fine.
5 pop quizzes are given throughout the semester basically for attendance. Show up for class and study at least a little bit for the tests and this class is an easy A. No homework and no reading textbooks, only work is studying for tests that are usually common sense. Very nice guy too, very helpful if you have questions or concerns.
STAN THE MAN. Take him for literally any class you can. Although the random pop quizzes are annoying, they are only 5 questions and they are open note. Super easy class and he tells you EXACTLY what will be on the test. Super easy A and a really funny guy.
pretty good professor!!! make sure you really study for the tests though. i mean like study. if you want to get an a of course. also go to class!! he has random pop quizzes that are super easy but u need to catch all of them. a lot of info on every test but not a hard subject. i got a b+
Hilarious guy. Stan the Man is great, taking him again for another GEOG class. Tests aren't hard, study quizlets and get an easy A.
STANNNN! TBH the GroupMe was the best part, but stan was great! Easy A. Just show up and do the open notes quizzes (only 5, random). Tells you what will be on the test, just study that and you'll be fine.
he is a super nice man but his lectures are not that interesting and his tests are pretty hard but if u at least show up and take notes youll probably get a B if u go the extra mile and study a little more than i did im sure u will get an A. boring class about weather honestly
He is so so nice. You go to class literally just to fill in spaces in the notes, and then you study those notes, no textbook, no homework, thats it. He has this class down to a science.
I really enjoyed Stan, he is a really nice man and you can tell he cares about students. All you have to do is fill in the bolded notes and that is exactly what is on the tests. This class requires ALOT of memorization and lectures can be a little boring, but if you can get past the memorization then tests aren't terrible and you can get an A.
Hopkins is a nice guy who cares about your grade, but all he does is lecture & you have to fill in the notes he gives you. His tests are over TEN CHAPTERS & are crazy specific. It took me 3 tests to finally understand how to study for his tests (QUIZLET). He drops your lowest test grade and gives you a couple easy assignments to help your grade.
graded off of 4 tests. his lectures are boring but attendance isnt required and ur basically just doing fill in the blank notes in class. so if u and ur friends switch off going and getting the notes u wont have to go to every class. i have a B. tests are pretty specific and i have to study a lot tho.
Very hard to cram for this class. It is a lot of information and it's really easy to not pay attention during the lectures. He gives you notes that are fill in the blanks. There is a lot of information on all of the tests and the t/f are tricky on the test.
Professor Hopkins is the best. He is so funny and is very passionate about what he teaches. His tests aren't easy but he bolds everything that you need to know on the notes for the exam which is very helpful. If you study hard you will be fine. Definitely take him.
I took this class hoping for an easy a, but it was a lot harder than I expected it to be. There are only four tests, each with tons of information on them. The tests are straight memorization, however he puts up to 10 lectures on each tests. The information is mostly useless and class lectures are very boring.
Stan is the MAN. I struggled a little on his tests, but I also NEVER went to class. Just get the notes from someone and make a quizlet. The class is boring but the tests are PURE memorization and sometimes common knowledge. Also, your only grades are 4 tests. His T/F questions though are tricky though so watch out for those
For people who complain this was supposed to be an easy course, just keep in mind you have to put in the work first. I will say GEOG1112 required more memorization than I thought it would, but that is really all you have to do to get a good grade (and understand concepts, too). Come to class, do not depend on others for notes, and ask questions.
If you are looking for an easy elective and an Easy A, take this class with Stan. He no longer does pop quizzes so attendance is not mandatory, and to make A's on his test just wait for someone to make an online quizlet. You can honestly study 2/3 days beforehand and you'll make an A on all the tests.
Barely went to class and still did great!
Stan is the man!! The class is honestly pretty dry and attendance is optional. But if you study for the tests and go to office hours- he's incredibly sweet and you'll do just fine.
This class is basically 24/7 lecture, with around 5 tests, that's it. As long as you have all the notes before the test, and memorize them, you should be good. If you're not the best test-taker, def go to class so you can for sure get all the notes for yourself. Only what's bolded in the lectures makes it on the test!
If you put in some effort, then you should be fine. Notes are fill in the blank, but if you go to class then you'll see graphics that further demonstrate what's on the notes and it helps a lot. I studied the day before tests, but it was a lot of cramming. He also bolds the notes that could show up on the exam. Put in some effort and you'll be fine.
I love Stan! He is the sweetest man and makes his lectures so funny just by the random things he says. It is just all tests so be sure to study but no one ever came to class. Very easy class, great if your schedule is really hard. I always love showing up just because of his energy and enthusiasm for his class. Extremely lecture-heavy but enjoyable
really easy. Map test, 4 exams (lowest is dropped), final exam. and our class had a 2 point extra credit opportunity if we did a weather survey for his grad student. fill in the blank notes, nice guy
Stan's lectures aren't the most captivating, but he is funny and bolds everything on the notes that will be on the test. It's an easy A as long as you study. Just memorize the notes and there's no reason why you won't get an A.
Dr. Hopkins is a great guy with an easy course. I go to class and take the notes, but other than that, all the class has is tests. If you study the notes really well, getting an A is easy.
take him! nice guy. make a quizlet for bolded notes, memorize it, guaranteed A on test. he usually has 2 or 3 bonus questions too which helps balance out questions that may be confusing
Stan is fine. I never went to class and still made a decent grade. The class is dry and boring and the only thing we get grades for is 5 tests and the final. If you want an easy class that you don't have to go to, take this class with Stan.
Dr. Hopkins is a very nice guy, but his class was a tough one. I was told that it was an easy class, but it absolutely was not. His class is test heavy, so make sure that you study far in advance. He gives you study guides to fill out in class, and the tests cover what is on them.
such a nice guy, not the best teacher. he tries to be funny, and its so unfunny that its funny. he does his best to make boring material interesting. overall, the tests are pretty easy and youll pass if you know the basics of the material
Stan is the man. He posts all the notes and you fill in the blanks during his lectures. He bolds what you need to know for the test. It can be a lot of memorizing, but if you cram the day before you'll be more than fine. He drops one test and his tests are pretty easy. I highly recommend taking Stan, I'm taking him next semester b/c he's so great.
Stan is my favorite teacher ever. I only showed up to class on test days and made a 98 in the class. One person will always go to class and send the notes in the group me. Put those in a quizlet and study the day before the test and your guaranteed an A. If you do go to the lectures, he makes them funny but they are quite boring.
i cannot stress this enough TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!! I'm not one to EVER skip class (type A student) but let me tell you I only showed up for test days throughout the semester. Stan tests on the bolded terms straight from the notes, offers multiple extra credit ops throughout the semester, and is just a kind funny quirky dude. do yourself a favor
Legit easiest class ever. No textbook-just fill in the blank notes and the bolded parts of the notes are on the test. Memorize notes day or two before test and youll be fine. Funny dude, and easy to reach out to if you need help. I went only on test days and got an easy A.
3 tests and final. Literally never went to class, but had to cram study for like 12 hours for each test. It is ALL memorization. If you suck at memorization then do not take this class. Hopkins' lectures are boring, but he tries to crack jokes and make the material interesting as best as he can.
This class is deceivingly difficult. He gives fill-in-the-blank notes for lectures, so note-taking is easy. However, each test covers SO MUCH material, they require A LOT of studying. If you're looking for a no effort class for physical science credit, look around more. Professor is not bad though & there was some extra credit.
Stan is super knowledgable about Weather and Climate. Definitely wasn't my favorite class (not a science gal) but take notes (fill in the blank!), study what is in bold, and be pretty solid on a few things to right a short essay about and you'll be fine. Final is "Test 4" with two cumulative, longer essays of which he gives you 14 to study.
Hopkins simply lectured over a powerpoint and made his presentations interesting. There isn't really much to this class besides filling in the blanks to the notes he gives you and tells you what will be on the test.
His lectures are very boring, but you have to show up to fill in the notes because he doesn't post his powerpoints. Tests are solely from notes and lecture (no textbook), which means the entire class is pure memorization (including numbers). Easy science credit and he's passionate about the subject.
You only have 4 tests for the whole class and there are T/F, multiple-choice, and Essay Questions. He lectures a lot and very heavily, but give you an outline to fill out with the main information in bold which will be the only things on the test. The test isn't straightforward, so this is a very difficult class for those that don't like science.
Stan Hopkins is literally so nice!!! He is such a kind man and he genuinely cares about his students. The lectures can be a little long but the exams are easy as long as you study. Highly recommend.
Hopkins is great, but honestly don't go to class. He is very knowledgeable, but lectures (while sometimes humorous) are a drag. Talks in monotone. Really nice, though. Powerpoints are on blog and just let someone who goes to class help you fill them in. Tests have a lot of info, but they're all memorization. Final not cumulative. Take this class.
Dr. Hopkins was so great! His class was interesting and his tests were right off the notes from class. Notes are fill in the blank, and the test questions are always bolded in the notes. Our class asked for extra credit, and he gave us an easy quiz for extra credit, so it doesn't hurt to ask for it if you're struggling!
Class not mandatory, all lectures, tests are easy as long as you study the study guides and notes that he provides you with
Stan is awesome, but I did not like this class because it was memorization heavy. I spent over 12-13 hours studying for his tests. Your grade only consists of tests and the wording can be confusing on them. Overall, he is a super nice man and is willing to help anyone.
very nice and helpful if you reach out to him, makes concepts very easy to understand, test material is identical to notes and slideshows he provides so use those deliberately
TAKE HIM! The majority of the class was online. He gives GREAT study notes and resources for literally everything. Tests had no webcam or lockdown browser, said he doesn't see the point in it. The lectures may be boring but he's awkwardly funny and you don't have to attend if u don't want to. Only graded by 4/5 tests but you have to try to fail.
literally the best ever! take his class! the majority of it was online but he made his own website and uploads all the notes online and bolds all the information you need to know for the test! there is no textbook and all of his tests are really straightforward and from the notes. He is so nice take his class
He posts all the notes on his website and the tests are open note. Easiest class for a physical science although the notes are lengthy so you should familiarize yourself with them a little before tests to be able to find what you need easily on test days.
Hopkins is the most chill professor ever. you are graded on only 5 tests including the final and everything is open notes. if you need a science credit and want to take an easy class with little work and a funny professor, take this class!! as long as you are good at navigating notes and tests you will easily make an A!
I loved Stan's class! He was extremely understanding of our situation this semester and made this class accessible to everyone. He has a website with all of our lecture notes which exams come straight from. Just study at your own pace. Super easy as long as you look over them. 6 exams total I believe plus an extra credit quiz worth 20 points
The best professor ever! Test heavy but he provides you with all the information you need to study for it. Not confusing at all, very supportive and funny. I encourage everyone I know to take this class.
This class started in-person and synchronous, then became online and asynchronous. I definitely would not have done as well in this class if it were in person, since it's so detail-heavy, but it was super easy since it was online. Professor Hopkins is really knowledgeable and appears to care about is students a lot.
Professor Hopkins is a blessing! Everything in his class was online and lectures were optional. His tests were super simple and this year online and open note. He is a really nice and easy-going guy!
Not to be dramatic but I would take a bullet for this man. The nicest, sweetest man to ever live and his class is literally SO. EASY. I took it during COVID, and he gave us all the notes, zoom calls were optional (I never went to any), and we had 5 open note tests. Made a 95+ on every test and didn't study at all. Easiest A ever. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
Super easy A. None of his lectures are mandatory and he sends all the lecture notes out via email and have exactly what is gonna be on the test. If you go to his lectures they are easy to understand, he basically reads off his lecture notes. You are only graded by tests but they are super easy if you use the lecture notes. Control F is your friend!
5 Total tests were the whole grade. Hop is very relaxed while also being passionate about his field. His expectations are clear, and his class is a breeze, whether you do your due diligence or not. I would highly recommend this class for those not scientifically inclined.
I absolutely loved Stan and his class! He didnt take attendance, so you could come when you wanted to or not at all. All the lecture notes and powerpoints were on his class website and he sent out emails with study tips before each test. Only 5 unit tests and a map test - all super easy! Stan was also just so funny! Take his class!!
Stan is a G. Super chill guy with good lectures. Easy GEOG 1111 class can't recommend him enough
Easiest class I have ever taken. All you have to do is take an exam about once every six weeks which are so easy (I didn't go to class once and got an A on every single one). He's also really nice and if you actually want to learn you can go to the lectures. Perfect to get rid of the science credit.
just six tests for the entire class, no other grades. not required to show up to class. super easy and you can use whatever methods work
Only graded on 6 tests so make sure you but your best effort in! Hopkins is a funny guy & you will do great if you study up on the notes & review slides he sends out on emails. All test material is straight from the notes & lecture slides so if you study that, it will be an easy A. I went to all classes but I would say you can make an A without
I didn't attend Zoom lectures aside from the review sessions and got an A. There were 6 tests total, all online, and open note. As long as you looked at the notes on the lectures you would get a good score. Prof. Hopkins was very nice and emailed us review sheets and study tips the whole semester.
Nice and funny guy. Lectures every class where you fill in the notes. It is a little tough to get anything above a 96 on the tests, but still an easy A.
Very easy class. Attendance is not required and I wouldn't recommend going to class unless you enjoy the subject matter. There are 6 tests and his review Powerpoints do a good job prepping you for them. If you have them open during the test (which are open note) you'll get an A.
Professor Hopkins has 6 tests, all of which are open note and provides study slides that can be used to study beforehand. Tests are super easy, and he is a great teacher. Lectures are boring, but you just have to get the notes to be good in the class.
GEOG 1111 with Hopkins is super easy. Attendance isn't mandatory. Five tests that are all open-note and online. If you're taking Geography just for credit, TAKE HOPKINS!!
I love this man. The tests are so easy and ALL open note and online. He gave us an extra credit quiz to bump up our grades as well. If you need an easy science credit, this class with this professor is the way to go!
Super easy class and pretty nice guy! I totally recommend typing your notes so that you can just use control F as the tests are online and open note. I will say it is important to come to class because he doesn't post his powerpoints on his website, but you only have to pay attention to the words in bold on the slides.
Very easy going and kinda funny. No homework just online tests. Make sure you take good notes from his online notes and you'll be prepared for the rest. He genuinely seems to enjoy teaching the material and knows it well.
Class is only graded off of five exams but if you get the notes for each exam, you will pass. Tests are online and we are given notes that are very similar to the tests. He is a very chill and cool professor. He cares for his students and is very understanding. This class is so easy!
Dr. Hopkins really cares about what he teaches and genuinely wants you to pass, he tries his best to make it easy for you and gives lots of opportunities. He's pretty reliant on lectures but gives guided notes and the tests are open note. Good requirement filler.
Hes great, super funny, but doesnt care about you (or teaching) at all. All tests open note, but some questions are worded strangely to confuse you, and he wont offer help or explanations if you ask. Whole class was lectures and guided notes plus a big writing assignment at the end.
There's no homework and the tests are online. He gives you all of the information that you need to know for tests.
Dr. Hopkins is probably one of the best professors for human geo! He is very knowledgeable, funny, and a good lecturer. Your grade is based off 6 tests and an extra credit quiz towards the end of the course. The content is not difficult to grasp, just come to every class and take notes and you'll do well!
I really liked Stan as an instructor, even though the material was dry and boring he has a very deadpan dry humor that I found hilarious. Graded by a few tests, but fairly simple and cut directly from the lectures.
Super easy, stopped going to class after a month and still ended with a 98. Just fill in the fragmented notes before each test and you're fine. All open note, multiple choice or T/F
Love this teacher, an Easy A if you take notes and great lectures.
He offered Zoom so I never stepped foot in class, but it was an easy A. He doesn't take attendance but you should really try to go every time because his tests come straight from his lecture notes. He posts the notes online part filled in for you to fill the rest, and tests have no lockdown browsers. The 6 tests are the only grades/assignments
This class was very boring, but attendance is not mandatory and it's easy to get an A. Tests are open note and questions come straight from the notes. I'd recommend Professor Hopkins if you need an easy class to satisfy a science requirement.
Hopkins was great. as long as you take the lecture notes you'll be fine. A guys in our class would always send them so I never went and came out with a 98. Lectures are boring but hes a nice and funny dude. i would definitely recommend if you need a science credit.
There are 6 tests over the semester and they are your only grades, but they are extremely easy. I literally only went to the class on the first day and still got an A+. If you go to class, all he does is lecture for 115 min every single day. Take Hopkins' class if you are looking for a GPA boost or a class you have to devote little to no time to.
Dr. Hopkins is a pretty cool professor, and his class is really easy. His tests are all open-book, so as long as you get the lecture notes, you're set. At times the tests can be a bit difficult despite this, but I won't complain much since there's really no extra work to this class aside from getting these notes and taking the tests.
Best Class Ever! No idea why Stan has any ratings lower than a five (majority of the people did give him fives tho) Only graded on tests, that r easy & he encourages you to use notes on it- fill in the blank off powerpoint. Funny dad jokes. Easy-going guy. gives a great a extra credit quiz at the end. material was super easy to understand/remember
This class was recommended by so many people and for good reason. Every class is offered on zoom and not necessary to attend. Tests are open browser and he provides notes and study guides. Take this class, you wont regret it.
Literal easiest class ever! He provides lecture notes that you basically just fill in the blank from the PowerPoints in class. Had a zoom option for anyone that wanted it. Funny relatable guy. 1 map quiz 4 exams and a non cumulative final (basically 5th exam). Take Hopkins at every opportunity! He also wears a cowboy hat to class everyday lol.
Has his own website for his notes. The notes are fill in the blank and the questions on the exams are so similar to the notes. Allows students to join from zoom if you wish.
Professor Hopkins is an absolute king! He offers his class on zoom or in person and has his own website with fill-in-the-blank notes. Tests are all based on notes, but can be a bit tricky with the time limit (55 questions in 55 minutes). Lectures are entertaining and informative, I feel like I have learned a lot.
If you need a science credit, take him!! You are only graded on six tests over the course of the semester based on lectures, but they were online and open-note. If you attend class or get notes from a classmate, you'll do just fine. Highly recommend this course!
This man is an angel. I love him. The class is lowkey boring, however, he wears cool belt buckles which is fun. This is an easy A and as long as you have the notes you should make an A on every test.
Great professor, easy class. Does not make this class any harder than it needs to be. His website contains fill-in notes and useful diagrams. All tests were online and open-note, and were pretty easy. They were also easy to recover from if you didn't do well on a test. Overall, if you're looking for an easy gen-ed, HIGHLY recommend this class.
Very boring lectures but attendance isn't mandatory nor really necessary. I haven't stepped foot in this class since the first day and did well on all of my tests because they're open note and online. He's a really nice guy and has a dad sense of humor. I recommend his class just because it's so easy.
This man is awesome. If you have the chance to take him, do it.
Take any of Dr. Hopkins' classes for your physical science requirement. He gives you fill in the blank notes and bolds what will be on the open note tests. The lectures are pretty boring, but its just dull material. If you take notes (or even just get them from someone in the groupme) you will be guaranteed an A.
Very easy A class and he is a nice man. The only grades are tests but they're online, not proctored and fairly easy. 1 extra credit quiz that helps everyone's grade a lot. Highly recommend.
Stan was such a sweetheart. Also this class is such an easy A. Nuff' said
I was terrified to take a geo class because I'm an art major and haven't had a science class in like 5 years. Hopkins' class was so interesting and his notes that he provides are extremely clear and he highlights exactly what you need to know. Made me very confident in my learning/knowledge
Best professor I've had!
Great teacher. go out of your way to have him
Stan Hopkins is the best professor at UGA. Attendance was not required and he posted the notes after class. Grade was solely made up of tests so make sure you do well on those. Overall an amazing class.
Very easy class. Lectures can be a little boring, but Hopkins was a good professor. Attendance was not mandatory, notes needed for the tests were posted beforehand, and our grades came from those open note tests.
Taking this class with Professor Hopkins made it a total breeze. While the class is very easy, Professor Hopkins knows his stuff and will not hesitate to help you understand anything you are unclear on. He also injects humor into his lectures since the subject matter is fairly boring. Easiest class you will take at UGA.
I did not go to class a single time the entire semester was still able to pull an A. Attendance was not required by the way. He posts the notes after every class, so you do not miss anything. The tests are open note therefore you can just use his posted notes. There is a massive extra credit assignment where it brought my grade up a lot.
tests are online and intuitive but you'll need to try on them. he gives extra credit and they are not crazy hard. he is the boy
Mr. Hopkins is a very stereotypical lecture prof. He puts up a slideshow and provides fill in the blank notes to be filled in at each lecture. If you miss, he is accommodating if you email and request the power point from that day. For tests, there is no lockdown browser, but be sure to use his review slides provided on his website.
If youre looking for an easy class, take this. Goes over a powerpoint and fill in the blank notes. Tests are online and no lockdown browser. Hes a funny guy, and understands when problems arise.
Stan is truly the man. Havent gone to a lecture since the first month of school but still managed a decent grade. Get the notes from someone from class and you'll be fine. Only a few things make your total grade but still an easy class. I LOVE STAN THE MAN
All tests online and open note. Stan Hopkins is the goat.
Stan was a great prof. His class is one of the easiest I have taken. Grade is only based on tests, but the test content is directly from the lectures, which are fill in the blank notes. Attendance is not mandatory, but you need to show up to get the notes. Easiest physical science you can take.
Professor Hopkins was hands down one of my favorite professors. He was so nice and smiled at me every time I waved at him. Don't be afraid to approach him because he's always open for conversation! There are 5 main online exams, which were dependent on fill in the blank notes from lectures, and he even gave us extra credit opportunities!
Super easy and laid back class for anyone who is looking to fulfill their science requirement. 5 tests based off of in class notes, so make sure to show up to class to fill them out. It's a low stakes class if you are not good with the sciences, and he's a really nice guy.
Stan/Arthur Hopkins is a caring and understanding professor. Tests are all online and open note, no attendance policy, and will listen to your concerns if you need him to. Sweet and funny guy with an easy class. I would attend lectures if you have his class because he points out all the necessary information for your notes.
Super easy class and great professor. This professor clearly knows a lot about the topic. If you are not interested in Physical Geo, then the lectures will be boring. But if you take the notes, then you will ace the exams. He offers extra credit and help if you need it.
This is the best class at UGA. Literally do not have to do one thing outside of class for him besides a scavenger hunt in the Geology building. The only thing is that you have to actually go to class to fill in your notes unless you can get them from someone else. All tests online. Love this man the most.
Full honesty, I haven't been to his class since the first week of school, and I've gotten an A on every test. He gives you fill-in-the-blank notes and everything bolded is what's on the test, so as long as you get the notes from someone you're golden. Tests are open book and open note too.
If you're someone who isn't great with the sciences and needs to fulfill a requirement or really anyone looking for the easiest A of their life, take this class!! The lectures really just consist of filling out skeleton notes and the tests are online and open note, meaning there's no way to not get an A. The only grades are the 5 tests.
All lectures had corresponding fill-in-the-blank notes from the PowerPoints. There were 5 online exams, all open note, open Google, and test answers were straight from the notes. The lectures were pretty boring, but Professor Hopkins is a funny and pretty understanding guy. Highly recommend it if you need an easy science class.
If you need an easy science class take this with Hopkins! All the tests are online, and open note.
Professor Hopkins enjoys teaching this class and provides many memorable examples of Geographic features throughout this class. His notes are on his well-organized website and are fill-in-the-blank. His five exams were clearly worded, easy, and open-note. There was an Extra Credit quiz and an opportunity for extra credit for attendance.
Professor Hopkins is awesome. Lectures are moderately interesting. He is very into what he teaches so I think it's sweet. All tests online, no lockdown browser. Extra credit quiz and a "fieldtrip" (basically ec as well). I would definitely take him again.
This is one of the easiest A's you can get at UGA. Grade is based on 5 Exams and he offers extra credit. He does not take attendance and lectures are fill in the blank notes. He also provides lots of information on his websites for his exams and they are not proctored.
I am not a science person, but needed to fulfill my physical science credit and this class was perfect. Attendance is not mandatory and tests are open note with the answers in the powerpoints he posts on his website. There are 5 exams with 1 scavenger hunt project a map test at the beginning of the year - easy 100s. I would recommend 110%.
Stan Hopkins is genuinely one of the best and funniest teachers at UGA. The course was graded based on open-note online tests, but you'll do fine if you show up to class and fill in your notes. He also offers an opportunity for extra credit. No textbook is necessary, and he posts study guides on his website, so I'd say this class was an easy A.
Professor Hopkins is awesome. If you go to class and pay attention to his lectures, take notes, and study those notes, you should do well.
Super chill professor. Literally don't ever have to attend. 10/10 recommend to take for an easy A. Forgot to take the final and he emailed me about it. He is caring.
Such an easy physical science credit. 4 tests plus a map test but it's all open note. Lectures can be long and boring but you don't have to attend, he has fill in the blank notes, and he's funny.
Lectures can be dull but attendance isn't mandatory, although I would recommend still going. Graded by 5 tests which can be difficult due to the time limit (55 questions in 55 minutes) but it's open note and online. His extra credit assignment really helps your grade at the end of the semester. Not as easy of a class as you'd think, but not too bad
Lectures are sometimes long, but he keeps them interesting and often lets us leave class early. Tests are based on notes and are taken from home. Definitely would recommend.
Stan was a pretty decent professor; he's lecture heavy and his lectures are boring. However, the class itself is easy if you pay attention and use the fill-in notes he provides. My only complaint would be the tests; they're open note/open resource but heavily timed. I'd recommend Stan as a pre-rec, though if you need an easy physical science.
He was so nice and sweet! Class is very easy and tests are open note. towards the end of the semester he did an extra credit quiz that boosted my grade from a 94 to a 99. He is amazing!!!
Tests are all at home and open notes, but if you don't have the notes you won't do well. The questions come straight from the notes, but it can be tricky to find some of the answers. For my class he offered and extra credit quiz that boosted my grade from an A- to an A. Also, you should know to have an A you need a 95 which is a little insane.
GUYS I had a 93 and the extra credit quiz boosted me to a 96 (A+). TAKE THIS CLASS. Use chatgpt for help if you dont know the answers. STAN IS THE BEST!!! SO EASY!!! I legit took this class and never went to class and got an A. And he is so nice and answers emails quick. Just make sure to have ur notes open during tests. control F is key!!!!!!!!
Lectures are boring and he does not post lectures online so you must go to class to get notes unless you ask a classmate for them. The class is comprised of 5 unit exams and 1 map exam. Exams are alright as long as you have your notes but I highly recommend using chatgpt for the questions. 1 extra credit quiz that boosts your grade a ton.
Hopkins is the best. Take him for any Geography class if you can. Map test and 5 open note tests based off the lectures. Doesn't post his notes, but make a friend or get a Google Drive going with the notes and you don't have to go to class. Great guy that makes any geography class a breeze.
If you need a geography or related class, and want someone super laid back and easy, take Prof Hopkins! Notes are online on his website, you just need to fill in the blanks. Tests are open notes online, regularly scored high A's on them. Just show up to class and take the 4 tests + Map Test and you'll be fine.
If you need a physical science take him!! Posts the notes and you just fill in the blank (someone will make a shared doc if you miss). He does an extra credit quiz at the end that really boosts your grade and is willing to round up at the end of the semester. As long as you study a little for the tests and know the basic concepts you'll be fine
Please take him for your physical science. He has a 'field trip' that is really fun if completed with friends. He is a funny guy who cares about his students. He rewards students for attending class. Notes are posted and are fill in the blank. Review over your notes for the test and you should be fine.
One of the greatest and most interesting classes. Definitely take for a science credit. Stan Hopkins is funny and cool. The only bad thing about the class is that the exams have barely enough time for about one question per minute, but if you looked at the slides and took notes of the tings he said, it would be an easy A. cool guy 10/10
Prof Hopkins' class was fairly easy. You have to show up to class though to get the notes. All of his tests are online and open note. As far as studying goes, I would go over the notes a couple of times before opening the tests because you get a very limited time limit. Use google docs to take notes and then control F to find answers.
No homework and attendance isn't mandatory but you have to go to class to get the lecture notes. The first few tests are harder than the last few but if you take good notes you should be fine. Make sure not to slack off with notes or else you will be digging yourself out of a hole because there are no other fluff grades only tests.
I think this is probably the easiest class offered at UGA. Five open-note tests, one of which is a map test, spread out through the semester and based around fill-in-the-blank notes. While it helps to go to class and get the notes, if you have a class GroupMe, someone will likely send the notes. Also, Stan is hilarious, a true gem.
Stan the man, simplest most straight forward class I've ever taken. You have 5 Tests and a Map quiz and that's it, all taken online with questions straight from the notes which are pre filled out for you. Would take this class every semester if I could. Funny guy
Get this guy, he's the best. Gives you clear notes that will help the online out of class tests.
Easy A definitely recommend, also Prof. Hopkins is an amazing guy too who shows care about his students.
Professor Hopkins set an amazing example of what I want in my future professors. He is caring, makes a lot of dad jokes, and makes sure to lay out what will appear on the quizzes. Notes are fill in the blank and help a lot on the quizzes. I made 100's on 3/5 tests and a low 90/high 80 on the other two. Great professor and even better guy!
Dr. Hopkins is great. Your grade is 5 online tests. And if you actually go to class, I found his lectures very interesting.
He is so cool! I loved listening to Prof. Hopkins' lectures. He is knowledgeable but his teaching style is very enjoyable and he's a sweet guy. There are five online tests, but he posts half-done notes, so going to class ensures that you have all the information. I cannot recommend this class enough, I almost switched my major to take him again.
LOVE Professor Hopkins and his class!! Professor Hopkin's class is solely lecture based. And while attendance isn't mandatory, in order to get the notes for the exams you need to attend class. Your grade is based off of 5 exams, a map test, and extra credit quiz. All exams are open note and taken at home. HIGHLY recommend taking his class.
Truly such an easy, but interesting, class. Prof is funny and laidback. He doesn't post notes online, but class is so chill and if you can get notes from someone else, you can skip and your grade will be completely fine. He literally gives you a template to fill out as notes. All exams were online and open notes/internet.
Class is tests only. lectures can only be received in class (no notes online). class is basically only 7 test that make up your grade. no cumulative final
Professor Hopkins is one of the greatest people alive. This is my second time taking a class of his and they are so easy but so interesting. All test are at home online. Highly recommend, easy A.
Hopkins is funny and very clear about expectations. You are graded on 5 exams and the grading scale is 95+ is an A but rounds everything up (94.1=95). Exams are online and not lockdown browser. The exams can be tricky but not too bad. Also all notes are provided as fill in the blank, which matches the slides. He's very helpful in office hours.
Easiest class at UGA. All test answers are on chat gpt and you never have to go to class once.
There is no other way to put it, Stan Hopkins is the GOAT in every possible facet. He has the speed of Usain Bolt, the brilliance of Nikola Tesla, the bravery of Alexander the Great, the skating ability of Wayne Gretzky, and the fighting ability of Muhammad Ali. No man before has ever come close to the absolute greatness that is THE Stan Hopkins.
If you need a science credit this is the class to take. All the tests are based off the lectures and review slides. The Professor is also a very funny and caring dude. You can only get the notes if you go to class because they aren't online.
Easiest class I've ever taken. Tests are open notes and based exactly on the notes. If you find an old copy of the notes or make friends with people who take notes in class, you don't have to go. The tests are the only part of your grade, but there was one extra credit quiz.
Class was great and straight forward. Make sure you read his emails before taking the test, he tells you exactly what you need for each test. Attendance isn't mandatory but sometimes you can't get the notes if you skip, so either find a reliable friend, or search for them online before committing to skipping. ALSO he offers one extra credit quiz!!!
Professor Hopkins makes this class a breeze. Attendance is mandatory, but the notes are worth it. unstuckstudy AI was a lifesaver for test prep along with the review slides. Definitely an easy A if you stay engaged.
Stan is so funny! If he could be my grandfather I would love for him to be. His test are pretty straight forward. All I would say is take notes when you can because all test are open note!
He is great and it is an easy course. Go to class and take notes and you are good to go.
This class is an easy A if you get all the answers for the fill-in-the-blank notes! He is a funny guy, and I enjoyed his out-of-pocket jokes. Seeing him pull up in his cowboy hat every morning was the highlight of my day. Take him if you want an easy science class as a non-STEM major!
Attendance isn't mandatory at all, just make sure to get in the fill in blanks from someone. He rounds you up to an A+ if needed. 5 tests, including final. Easy if you have the notes and straightforward. Extra credit at the end of the semester. Definitely take this class if your looking for it to fulfill your credit for non bio/chem major.
Took Stan for 1111 lab. Quite easy. Tests q's come straight from labs. Ask for help, he will help. Email, he answers fast. He is very accommodating. +3 extra cred points on labs if you get them in the same day!!! Take Stan for lab, you'll do great! Most of the time we get let out after an hour or so.
Very sweet professor who tells great dad jokes during class, even though his are the most boring lectures in the world. Tests are open note and online, with an extra credit opportunity at the end of the semester. Easiest class ever!
He is super chill, but lectures can be kinda boring. You don't have to go to class, but I did bad on the tests if I didn't get the notes which he does not post so if you want the notes then go to class. Some people I know got good grades without ever going, but I was not able to do that. Overall, really chill science credit.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but notes are given out in class. Tests come straight from the notes, and tests are taken at home online.
He was amazing. All exams are open note and online. Easy A TAKE THIS CLASS!!
The only grades in the class are four exams and a map test. At the end of the semester, he gave us an extra credit opportunity. While class is not mandatory, I would still go every single day. If you do not go to class, there will be no way to access the lectures. All tests are online, have 55 questions, and 70 minutes to answer them.
Outstanding Professor who cares for students. Intro to Weather is a very easy A if you pay attention and do well on tests.
By far the easiest class I've ever taken. Lectures aren't mandatory, although they are very boring. The guy himself is very charismatic though. Literally, the only work you have to do outside of class are the 5 tests (no homework or anything) and one independent "field trip" which takes about an hour of your time. Take this guy he's so free
GOAT GOAT GOAT GOAT GOAT GOAT. TAKE HIM TAKE HIM. AMAZING PERFECT.
GOATTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take him tests are easyyyyyyy!!!!! Attendance not mandatory!!!!! GOATTT!!!!!!!! Take stan for 1111 so fire. go dawgs
MY GOATTTTTTTTT best class ever. I hope everyone who can take this class can take this class because it was AMAZING. Attendance is mandatory and no homework. TAKE HOPKINS!!!
take this class if you can!!! attendance not mandatory all the answers for the test are are on the study guide!!
Very easy class! All exams had no lockdown browser and were simple (questions are pulled directly from the notes). Attendance isn't mandatory but go to class for the notes - they help a ton!
Hop's the goat.
Very fun class, attendance is not mandatory. The professor is super funny & makes the lectures engaging. Lots of review opportunities and a bit of extra credit. We had one easy project. Exams are fairly lengthy but never have any tricky questions. Overall great professor and class
Yes, very awesome.
Best professor ever! Go to class for notes because they will help you on the exams.
Dr. Hopkins is great. Your grade is made up of seven online open-note exams, and if you go to class, the exam questions are directly from the lecture notes. This class is perfect if you're looking for an easy science credit. Dr. Hopkins makes class enjoyable- he's funny and super sweet (dad/grandpa vibes lol). Definitely take!!!
Graded on 5 take home, open note exams. Fill in the blank notes, but he does not post them so go to the lectures! Exam questions come straight from the notes- don't rely on AI because it will give you the wrong answers sometimes.
There are 5 open note tests. He gives fill in the blank notes, but doesn't post slides. There is also one map test and one activity(field trip). There is no attendance or textbook.
Super easy class. I was in a class of 300 and only ~30 people showed up daily. Average grade on every exam was 90 or above. No attendance, open-note exams, fill-in-the-blank notes but doesn't post slides. Would take again for easy science credit.
We stan Stan Hopkins.
KING I love him and his cowboy hat. If you have the notes, you will do well and he gave me extra credit for showing up the day before spring break. One tip: Chat GPT (which he lets you use bc he's a king) sometimes gets the answers wrong, so when in doubt I'd trust the notes
Not mandatory attendance but I showed up anyways bc the class was so enjoyable. Test is open notes + open internet and basically straight from the notes. No hw! Super light class
Actually took him twice because I enjoyed the class. you def dont need to go to class to get an A, but he gives extra credit for those who do.
Best professor I have had at UGA! Class is optional and tests are online, open note, and open browser. He also gives extra credit. He cares about his students and there success.
He's great. I encourage everyone to attend all of his classes even though attendance isn't mandatory. His way of teaching is very intriguing and actually keeps you interested throughout the lecture. The tests are easy as long as you study the notes that he gives out. He does give ec based on attendance and one on the very last test.
I loved Professor Hopkins. He was very willing to help out. Course material is to the point and all tests are online, open note. Extra credit at the end of the semester.
Great Professor, he is super enthusiastic about Geography. The whole course is like 6 online tests and then towards the end he offers up to 20 points of extra credit. You do not have to go to the class. If your looking for a laid back physical science credit, I would chose Stan.
he's a good lecturer. 1 map test and 4 tests. tests come from the notes so go to class for the notes unless u can get them from someone who aldy took the class.
Around 6 online tests based on lectures. The notes are fill in the blank, so try to go to class. He jumps around slides a lot when lecturing, so it's easier to listen to him rather than hustle to get the notes. This class is great if you have a difficult schedule and you want an easy class to fulfill your physical science credit.
Class was only a few tests and it was incredibly easy. No attendance was taken and he gave a lot of extra credit near the end. 10/10 would recommend.
Dr. Hopkins is an above-and-beyond professor. When I missed an exam by accident, he reached out and asked if I wanted it re-opened. He is also a funny guy and always sends email reminders regarding upcoming exams and study guides for them.
Hopkins might be the best professor at UGA. Stopped going to class after the first exam and made a 99% in the class still. Graded only by online and open note tests. The time limit (55 MCQ in 60 Min) can be a little hard for some but I found it okay as long as I used AI which is allowed. If you don't go to class, try to get the notes from someone.
Only reason you need to be in class is to get the fill-in-the-blank notes, so you can use the buddy system. Exams are easy, mostly straight from notes. He is a 95 for an A, but offers an extra credit quiz that can add 3pts on your final grade, so do not be timid of that. Boring, but can just chill on your phone in between him changing slides.
Genuinely the best professor in my opinion. His lectures are fill in the blank notes, and his tests are open note and online! But, he's not only great because his class is easy. If you go to class and pay attention, you will learn a lot by just listening to him speak. He is kind and willing to work with you on any deadlines!
Easy, open note tests. Just go to class once in a while but you can always ask him for notes over email and he'll send them to you.
Very chill class. There are no quizzes and his exams are all open note + he suggests using outside resources. I never went to class but was able to do well in the class.
Come to class because there might be surprise extra-credit. Overall very straighforward and simple class, lots of notetaking
All exams and tests online at home. Attendance not mandatory. Easiest class at UGA.
Prof. Hopkins is by far my favorite professor at UGA. He makes the lectures so easy to understand (with fill in the blank notes), and all of the tests are online, open note, and multiple choice. Even if you want an easy A, I would recommend going to his class, because he is truly passionate about what he is teaching. He also gave us extra credit!
Mr. Hopkins was a great lab professor! My lecture class for this subject was really difficult, so having him for lab was really helpful when I had questions. One lab each week and if you submit it the same day you get an extra 3 points added. Attendance is mandatory though!
Very easy class if you are looking for a science credit! He's really sweet and funny too. Attendance isn't mandatory but please go to class I feel so bad when no one goes. You are graded by few things so try your best on tests. Notes are fill in the blank. Overall easy course super nice professor!
Prof. Hopkins is a great guy and wants everyone to succeed. That said, the only grades are tests, which are open note and online. Attend lectures If you want to fill in the blanks to your notes because he won't post them before. Otherwise, a very very easy class and Prof. Hopkins is very funny. Lectures are boring. Extra credit is offered.
I took him for the lab of this class and the dude was phenomenal. If you get the chance take him! It is a guaranteed A if you show up and do the work and also just a chill class that you can actually have fun in.
