The guy needs to be a little more realistic when it comes down to preparing students for tests. He offers no reviews and no study guides. Take this course if you like to read the text book front to back. He's a new teacher and has a lot to learn.
I'm a psych major so I must take this class for my lower division credit. He is VERY hard. Tests are VERY hard. He doesn't offer andy study guides which are NEEDED for a class like this. Please be prepared to read a lot and study for hours. He's a new teacher too.
He is such a nice guy but not the greatest teacher. His lectures are very interesting and he cares about making sure all everyone understands it, but the only points you get are from the exams which are EXTREMELY HARD. Great guy...not so great teacher.
Very difficult class. Nice guy. No variation or deviation from overheard slides and lectures for the entire time every class. Intense and almost impossible to do well in.
He's such a sweet guy, totally wants to make sure that everyone knows what's going on, but he rarely does anything besides overhead slides and his exams/midterms are ridiculous-so hard: i think that the class average was a 60%...
This TCHR has a lot to learn about communication skills outside of class. If you are not on his good side WATCH OUT! His tests don't match lectures and questions are ambiguous & then he says he'll give credit for ones he screwed up on & then doesn't. If he doesn't like you he will grade your final project lower so you can't get the grade you deserve
He's not the GREATEST teacher. The class itself is very difficult and there's a lot of material to cover. I think he's good for this type of class because he knows his stuff. Helpful hints for midterms: he'll give you a study guide - focus on the CONCEPTS not terms. Read through the chapters...that's CRUCIAL along with the study guide.
Mr Bursten has a strange sense of humor, but he tries. And he wants you to do well. Not the easiest, but if you want to learn, take him.
Dr.Bursten's powerpoint notes are great but you pretty much have to teach yourself as the class progresses. He's a friendly guy & always makes sure the class understands what he's lecturing. Ask the class if anyone has a question ALL the time. Keep up on the reading & take good notes bc there's a lot of information that will be needed for the class
A very clever man!Knows what he is talking about; if you ask him a questin he will give you the answer, always!!!It is a bit hard, but once you have finished the class you will appreciate the way he poured the material in your head:)An intelligent and understandable person!
without a doubt the worst teacher I've had in a while, pedantic, overbearing, pointless assignments that lead to nothing but endless busy work. the vast majority of the project invovles learning apa formatting rules. If you don't care about psychology and you love busy work, then this clas is for you.
Knows the subject well, good teacher if you're more interested in physiological psych.
Dr. Bursten is a sweet person and his bunny smile is simply irresistible, but this class is horrible! I love psychology but this class was as dry as a desert. I wish the lab was designed differently with the time used more efficiently. People who have Dr. Bursten in other classes say he is really good. I only had him in this one so I can't tell.
No real homework assignments. Just read the required chapter each week, I suggest taking notes over that yourself and pay attention to his lectures and lecture notes and you will get an A although sometimes studying harder areas is necessary. I got A's on everything but one test I got like a C I think because it was over complicated processes.
I was a psych major, then I took this class. I ended up dropping it and changing my major. My advice to others....If you are really serious about psych take this class RIGHT after you take stats. Get ready to write, research & create an experiment. If this class is not a requirement for you STAY AWAY FROM IT!!!
Took his Psych100 class and thought it was too much for just a GE class. His test were complicated and he doesn't curve. Requires a lot of studying for his midterms and final.
I took his Psyc110 class and it was extremely difficult. Be ready to attend every single class and study ONLY from the notes (book is useless). He's kind of boring and expects way too much from his students. Tests are hard.
hes a sweet heart but this class is difficult, its just a difficult subject that is very time consuming and just a lot of work dont take this unless you have to, i almost got an A but i slacked off on the final but its very possible to get one
Even though it's a hard class, it's possible to get an A. I disagree with the person that said that the book was worthless...believe me it's not. His test are from lecture and from the text. He curves the class depending on the student's performance. Great teacher.
Bursten is a nice, approachable, and funny guy. His midterms are insanely difficult. We have 4 Huge midterms a semester consisting of 10 chapters and 60 questions. He doesn't give small quizzes along the way so we have to memorize so much at once and do not learn along the way. To prepare for the tests you have to read a lot. He goes off topic alot
Tests are near impossible. A lot to memorize or the tests, but he does give out a fair amount of extra credit and grades on a curve
I am in Stanley Bursten's Psych 110 class. I would have to say he is a wonderful teacher, and although, his mid-terms are difficult, he is able to make the material interesting!
Bursten is such a nice man, but his class is a pain! He says the same phrase over and over "so far so good?" or "how we doing so far?" I never said anything but each time I wanted to scream "NO!" Class covers so much material that it is impossible to be interested and I found myself watching the clock A LOT. Bursten is nice but the class isn't.
Funny and smart teacher HOWEVER!!!, the tests he gives are very subjective, ala, there is no "right" answer, just a "best" answer, I talked to him about 2 of the questions and I proved him wrong. all in all, lets just say I wanted to be a psych major before taking this class, this class totally killed it for me. psych 100. hardest B I ever got.
bursten has no passion for psychology his class is very boring. Unless you get A's on the test you cant get an A in the class. he gives literally 3 homework assignments. they are very few assingments to make up points
Im taking his Psy110 class, and its pretty awesome Prof. Bursten is pretty chill and likes to joke around everynow and then,as far as the tests go be prepared to read alot, the book and his lecture, if you actually read the material there is no way you can fail
Stan is a really good teacher. Everyone is giving him a hard time but honestly if you read the text and listen to him in class this class isnt that hard. He conveniently puts all the notes online for you. he wants to make sure you understand the material and does a really good job at teaching it. GREAT teacher really interesting class! take it!
This was one of the first TRUE college classes I've taken @ SBCC. The material is interesting, the lectures can be long, boring and way more indepth than is necessary. But he gives out really nice study guides on his site that when done right give any student an A on his tests. He leaves it up to you to do everything and it works well! I Love Him!
just to warn you-psyc 110 is more of a bio class than a psyc class! I LOVED it,and got soo much out of it! however his tests are HARD!! dont even look at the study guide online..just memorise everything and every detail. also take the prac tests online @ the book website. He is a sweatheart tho and really smart!!
His lectures are mostly boring however his tests are pretty fair. It's clear he enjoys hearing himself talk and speaks to his class as if they are his colleagues and not his students. This class was not as difficult as expected however it is not easy.(do not take this class unless you must: 15-20 pg research paper is about 35% of your grade..)
Dr. Bursten has a great deal of knowledge of his subject. This was a challenging class (phys psych) but if you take notes, listen carefully to his lectures and read, read, read the text, you will do well. Great class-great Prof!
Im in psy 110 and he is very nice and loves what he does but the material is so extenisive and new that it can be extremely time consuming to learn. There are good extra credit opportunities. If you dont think it sound interesting then DO NOT take the class because it takes a lot of effort to do well
I feel like this is your stereotypical college instructor that loses you after the first sentence. I got lost after day 1 and it got worse after that. I feel that he speaks to his students as if hes talking to some other psych professor. Take this class at your own risk!
Hard to talk to in person. I always felt rushed when I would go in to seem him. Exams were hard. Attendance is mandatory in order to receive participation points. He is very knowledgeable and seems like a nice guy, but this was not my favorite or easiest class.
The tests are fair and the class is relatively easy. However, it seems that age is getting the best of him as he's constantly forgetting names, mispronouncing words, and getting off-track. He knows the material well and is really nice, but he might be headed for retirement at this rate.
He really knows what he's talking about, so much that sometimes I think he forgets he is teaching the students new material. But his knowledge really helps if you get confused and he is willing to explain things in a different way. The tests are somewhat hard but he prepares you with all the information you need to know beforehand!
Bursten is a great teacher but the class is really hard. He really cares about the subject though and makes it interesting to learn. His midterms and finals are really hard though.
I took Bursten for 110 I believe and 200. I was scared at first, and as other people mention he forgets names, yes. But if you are involved and active in class then he remembers your name. I will say that taking his classes better prepared me for my university than probably any other class I took at CC. Read, go to class, and read again if necessary
Cont: if you read and go to class and do extra credit you will do fine. I was a C when I started at CC and thought it was going to be impossible to even pass his class. But after applying myself I believe I earned 98% in one class and 102% in the other, so it's very possible to get an A.
pretty hard class. LOTS of reading for this class. like 6 hours a week and its very complicated material. more like biology of the human body and somewhat about the brain.actually its more like biology of the human body attempted to be circled around the brain. he knows a lot about psych but doesnt explain it in a way that most people could get
I did not find his teaching style to be very engaging. He more has you memorize the material than engage you in it. I love the subject, but his teaching style was a huge turn off for me. Not a good teacher for the critical thinker.
He has an outline for each lecture, print it out, follow it with him, and to the text reading and you are guaranteed an A. There are 4 exams, lowest of which is dropped, and a final. A couple in-class excercises which are a joke and thats it! Ive taken 100 with him and it was just as simple. These are introductory classes and he serves that purpose
This was an interesting class but was hard. If you want to do well you should read the book and I found the Cengage online website for the book(provided in book) very helpful it provides practice tests for each chapter n he uses some of those questions.
Not a hard class. If you're intimidated by reading the text book, taking notes on your own, taking notes in class, reading again, and studying, then don't take this class. It's not an easy A, but it's definitely achievable if you're willing to apply yourself. This class prepares you for REAL college courses.
Last comment is meant for PSY 110 and not PSY 150.
It is a easy B class. Really Boring. Dont take this class if you are not required.
I found that his lectures weren't the easiest to understand most likely due to the way he words things. Often I felt no matter how focused I was in the class I didn't fully grasp the concepts. While is personality is pleasant, I found his lectures to be on the dull side and harder to understand for new psychology students.
He means well, but he is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. His class lectures are very boring and they're very difficult to follow. If you do bad on the exams then you pretty much fail the class because you don't do other activities where you can earn points. If don't want to be lost for most of the semester, TAKE A DIFFERENT TEACHER!!
Professor Bursten is such a sweet guy and really committed to helping his students. You definitely have to take good notes and do the readings if you wanna get a good grade, but Bursten is super fair and a good teacher. He is entertaining and knowledgable, and there are lots of opportunities for extra credit.
I took physiological psychology and experimental biology. Bio psy was really easy, but a lot of people had a hard time. Experimental was more difficult and he grades the project without mercy (even if everyone else in your group drops). Lecures tend to be dry.. straight from power point. Makes some dorky jokes. Nice guy in general.
I strongly advice you not to take s.bursten's class, you'll end up hearing "we good? cool" when you are alone because that's all he says, his outlines and power points sucks the book makes sense his classes are just a torture of time. This class made me want to change my major unfortunetely.
He is a really nice guy and very smart, but is not very good at explaining things. Usually the explanations are very long and difficult to follow. He reads straight from the power point, but is always willing to answer questions. He is a great person, and a decent teacher. I wish I could have given him a better rating.
Strongly recommend not to take this class with Professor Bursten. Psychology is an extremely interesting subject and he manages to make it horrible. Lectures a very unclear and he is not on top of the material what so ever. His tests are horrible, full of questions that do not reflect what you should actually know, besides being unreasonably tricky
He reminds me of a grandpa. Lectures were really slow. He really likes ground squirrels and talks about them a lot. Test revisions were ridiculously difficult. I don't recommend him. However boring it was, I still love psychology.
Really great teacher!
Stan is definitely the man. He loves his career and doesn't mind talking all about it. His midterms are kinda hard since he bases them more off lectures rather than material from the textbook. If you go to class you will do good. He also offers a lot of extra credit. 100% take Stan
Really boring teacher. He loves psychology but he does not teach the information well. There are three midterms during the semester and they are extremely hard. I would not recommend his class unless you have 20+ hours to study before each of his midterms.
As long as you attend class and read the textbook you will be able to pass his class. He allows midterm revisions to improve your grade.
Very un interesting style of teaching. Exams are hard, hard to engage in the way he instructs the class.
His tests are hard but if you study and do the revisions you'll do fine. He loves psychology and will try his best to help you. You just have to talk with him during business hours. P.S. He loves ground squirrels!!!
Double up on your caffeine intake prior to class!! Stan is a good person and enjoys what he does. However lectures are extremely boring and midterms are very hard. Do your reading and extra credit and you should be fine. He also offers midterm revisions which are hard but help
His lectures are based off of PowerPoints but you don't have to take notes because he allows you to print the notes he has on moodle. He is willing to help his students and is open to answering any questions that you may have. You are expected to read each module before class so as long as you attend class and study you will pass the class.
So heres the truth: Take bursten. You get a lot of online quizzes, but 3 chances to get the A. 4 tests, so if you mess up one youre ok. HE HAS A TUTOR. use her for test prep: a two hour session that gives you an A. She is so helpful. lazy: C willing:B extra credit:A He gives 25pts of extra credit and they're easy, just dont pick the writting ones!!
His midterms are beyond rigorous and the class is slightly difficult. Wouldn't recommend
Thinks he's being clear when you ask questions but isn't. Loves the subject but is condescending in the way he teaches and talks to his students. Would not take again.
His lectures are pretty much useless. You will have to study a lot in the book to prepare for the exams because his lecture notes do not suffice. He also skips a lot of material during lecture and makes you read up on it on your own. You also have to do A LOT of studying for the exams as they are very hard. Would not recommend this class with him!
Hardest class I've ever taken. GO TO EVERY STUDY SESSION WITH THE TUTOR. The tutor is a life saver. One term paper which is very hard. Went to office hours to get help with my paper, he said it was great and then gave me a C. Tests are very tough. Use his study guides he posts to study for the tests. Don't recommend taking this class.
The class is boring and most of the time you'll find yourself trying to not fall asleep. The tests are tough because he incorporates info from the textbook (read on your own) , lectures and any videos that are watched in class. The tutor is a life saver make sure to go to her study reviews before tests. Don't take this class it's terrible.
Do not take this unless you want to study every day all day. His tests are extremely tricky and tests you on short radnom videos you watch in class so you have to go and pay attention. His lectures dont teach you anything for his tests, basically had to read the entire textbook. I barely got a B, the tutor is the only way to pass.
Worst proff I have ever had. The textbook is vague, his lectures are long, boring and also vague. But his exams ask specific and trick questions. Tutor was no help either, she just goes over the same lectures. He was condescending to students who asked questions and made it clear he does not care about student success. He made me hate Psychology.
His teaching style is just bad. You will be listening to his lectures and understand everything, but once the test comes around you feel like you've been in a different class this whole time. He has a textbook that you HAVE to read because ALL of his quizzes are from the book, and tests too. Lectures are pretty much pointless.
His lectures are horrible and the material taught is not on the tests. So be prepared to read the online textbook and study a lot on your own. I often felt like I was teaching myself psychology because his lectures were not what was on the tests and quizzes. Not a psychology teacher that I would recommend.
He's sweet, smart, & wants to impart his knowledge! He measures how well you're processing the information by making the tests difficult. Dr. Bursten will prepare you for the field. He's informative & challenging; you know how they say a good teacher won't give you the answer, but he'll tell you where to look? That's Dr. Bursten
Incredibly difficult class. For exams, make sure to re-read notes from class (attendance is mandatory) and read the textbook over and over to fully comprehend physiological processes. I always hated sciences and thought I was no good at them but I studied a lot (a LOT) and got an A, so if I can do it so can you. Good luck and happy reading.
Dr. Bursten no matter how much you complain to remove reviews YOU SIR are not a professor! Focus more on your teaching and maybe just maybe students wouldn't complain. For heaven's sake it's a COMMUNITY COLLEGE, not a University, having a PhD doesn't make you a teacher. Some students actually want to learn from this class. HORRIBLE TEACHING SKILLS!
I can't speak for the Physiology class but I'm currently finishing up an honors Psychology course with Stan and my impression of Stan is far different than the reviews I see on here. He's a super down to earth teacher who is understanding and knowledgeable about his field. Stan teaches at a comfortable pace and makes sure everyone is on thesamepage
A lot of people complain about this class and I understand it's hard but it is a really good class. The topic was interesting and so is the textbook. Honestly if you follow the study guides and see the tutor you will pass. The people who fail just don't put in the work and truth is will be screwed when they transfer.
Stan is awesome! You should definitely get to know him he's pretty funny and cares a lot about psychology and his students. The honors class is a great choice because you have a smaller class and more oppportunity to get to know the teacher and students. Make sure to go to the study review sessions! Overall great class and learned a ton!
I had Stan for his psych100h class. I love him, he is passionate about psychology as well as about teaching. He cares about making connections with his students and encourages participation. Not to mention has great music taste, if you're lucky he might pull up a few of his favs and do a sing along. Lots of papers, but the tests aren't too hard.
He's a genuine guy, who has fun in class with the students. Stan is very knowledgeable in his field of psychology and can help you understand the content by relating it to you.
Stan is one of the nicest professors I have ever had. I had him for an Honors Psychology class and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Be patient with Stan because he honestly tries so hard to answer all questions and really makes an effort to help you understand the material. He also gives a lot of extra credit and makes lecture super fun.
Do your reading and the tests should be easier. Some questions are from lectures so make sure to go to class, his tests are pretty easy if you just look up all the terms in the book or from your notes you should have a solid grade. The lectures were a little boring but he's a sweet guy.
Honestly, he's a great guy but a horrible prof. I felt like I was reviewing my Bio class in his more than anything. He hardly teaches at all. Most boring class ever. DOES NOT TELL YOU WHEN THERE IS AN ONLINE QUIZ so no one ever knew about them. Text book is confusing and boring (it's online) No essay which is nice but not worth taking at all.
hard to pass if you don't read a textbook, and sometimes he gives a group disccussion that also part of the point.
I took this class hoping to actually learn something about Psych. He is the MOST BORING PROFESSOR EVER!!! Plus he does nothing more than read bullet points off his endless powerpoint every day. There's a weekly online quiz that you can easily pass if you look up the questions in the online textbook. The tests are heavily reliant on the textbook..
First, ditch the textbook. Go to his lectures, because he will drop hints for material that will be on the test. Stan is very passionate about teaching psychology and really wants to make sure all of his students understand the material. Also, going to the test review sessions are SUPER helpful. The TA tells you things that will be on the test.
Please for the love of god go to EVERY lecture. His quizzes are on the textbook but the tests are on his lectures and the textbook because he adds in his own information. He gives a good amount of extra credit so do all of it if you want an A. This class requires at least 2-3 hours of studying every day, so be sure you are able to do that.
Get ready to do A LOT of work. As long as you do the assignments, you will get a decent grade in the class. Just be prepared to hear some of the least helpful feedback ever. Most of my frustrations in this class came from the fact that he just points out all the negatives but does not do anything to actually help you fix what you did.
Worst professor I have ever had. Do not take class. Does not teach. Does not give clear homework. Flys through information. Have learned absolutely nothing from him. Prepare to study about 6 hours a day just to fail.
i have always loved school and psychology, this professor changed my mind about that. Be ready to not be told about homework assignments, and have them due on dates that were never mentioned. Besides that, he doesnt even teach. Just tells you to look at the book and gives aweful feedback.
Great teacher as long as you have the effort for it. Need to focus in lecture and read ALL of the textbook. Great class but difficult would suggest taking another teacher
Good teacher if you put in a lot of effort, read the text book. study everything on study guides and you will do well. expects a lot from his students, but means well. take if you're good at studying and have good work ethic. funny guy as well
In the beginning I struggled to keep up. A lot of information during lectures but keep up with the readings and you will get it. Requires studying, you can't slack and pass this class. Sometimes talks like you are supposed to understand things already, but happily takes questions! Good study guides and if you use them you will pass the tests!
The homework is easy, but the tests were hard so be sure to carefully go over the study guide provided. Tons of extra credit opportunities, but he neglects to mention that its capped at 30 extra credit points. Not an exciting class, but not the worst class Ive ever taken.
While Prof. Bursten was extremely nice, his lectures was incredibly boring. He had a tendency to overcomplicate things, but he happily answers questions. Read the chapters before class, it'll help a lot. 4 exams, group review questions in class, and online quizzes every week. If you read the book and do the study guides, you will pass. Take notes!
Gives great feedback, but he can nitpick at times. Don't procrastinate - the posts require lots of thought. Answer the questions directly. Group project in this class - be wary of classmates and try to start on it very early.
His grading system is detailed in his very long syllabus, however when he provides the grade and feedback his comments are arbitrary and inconsistent. He will mark you down 5 points if you leave off a "Hello ---" in your online discussion. He uses Wikipedia pages as a learning tool which is unhelpful and he does little to help during office hours.
He is unbelievably inconsistent. He forgets to mention assignments and they pass by with a MAJORITY of the class missing them. He tests on minute details that seem insignificant. You have to not only read the text book but reread it and memorize it if you want a perfect grade. Oh, also all of his online quizzes are copy pasted from quizlet.
Get ready to teach yourself 50-75% of the material from the book because he will not cover it in his power points and he WILL test you on it. Study guides are pages long and doesn't specify what will for sure be on the exam. lots of online quizzes, 3 exams, final, and an lengthy research paper.
Professor Burston lectures from his desk and everything on the quizzes and exams are from the textbook. He makes really weird jokes and can't remember a students name to save his life. Often doesn't cover all of the material so you'll be doing a lot of extra work on the side just to get by. I recommend taking any other professor but Stanley.
Stanley is a good teacher and anyone that says otherwise just didn't put in the work. He doesn't go through a lot of textbook material in his lectures, but it should be your job regardless to read the text and take notes. He offers a lot of extra credit that really helps your grade. You do have to work to get a good grade, but not extremely hard.
A solid teacher, not much to say. I almost dropped out after a few weeks but I stayed and I do not regret it. Make sure you read everything in the textbook at least twice and youll be fine! Give him time!
I reached put to him to see what I could do to improve my grade was willing to do what I could, and he was not very understanding or willing to give me anything to get a few extra points. Do not seem caring at all.
He is a really nice guy just stay on track with the work like any other class. It's not an incredibly large amount of work but you do have to earn your grade. He gives a study guide for each exam. There are 3 exams and a final. All of which are based off of the study guides AND the lectures.
Stanley is a very polite profesor. His quizzes are online but exams in class. The exams are very difficult and he did warn my class about that at the beginning of the semester. There is a couple of group assignments throughout the semester.
Dr. Bursten was an excellent professor and I'd highly recommend the class. That is, if you're a good student who's willing to put in the very little effort required for getting an A in psych 100. I was in a large lecture and a lot of kids complained about him, but they were just that... kids.
Stanley is a wonderful professor who has a real passion for psychology and biology. If you attend each lecture, take notes, and keep up with the online quizzes, you'll almost certainly get an A.
Good Professor... will make you work for an A but he makes it well worth it. Study the study guide and show up to class and you will have a good time.
this class will make you work for your grade. the quizzes are online and super easy, but the tests do not compare to the online quizzes. there have been maybe 2 instances where the quiz questions transfer over onto the exams, but for the most part, study the study guide and read the chapter on your own and practically teach yourself the material.
Would not take him again or recommend anyone else to. Had a 69.25% and he refused to raise it to a 70% even during a pandemic.
This course was a challenge but resources provided by Professor Bursten helped with this along the way. He offers extra credit. Lots of reading to understand the material in preparation for weekly the discussion posts and quizzes and the midterm and final.
Extremely specific and nitpicking grader. No compassion for personal issues, very dry and black and white. Textbook does not have nearly enough detail to answer his discussions, use the internet to teach yourself the material. Doesn't except late work. USE QUIZLET for quizzes, midterms, final. Discussion answers are most important.
Professor Bursten's online class wasn't bad at all! I'm not the smartest in psych, but I definitely feel like he was a fair grader and gave opportunities for extra credit too. All in all, put in the effort and you'll be fine in his class.
This man has no compassion for students especially during the pandemic. Do not take his class. I am taking BASIC psychology and yet he seems to make it more complicated than it is and expects perfection to a T from everyone. His directions compared to how strict he is with everything does not add. Was rude over email.
Because he wants us to really learn the material and think critically, I find his discussion questions and papers most challenging. You have to use external resources and do research because the textbook will not be sufficient. He does care about your learning so go to his office hours. I find him very nitpicky and strict with grading.
He's knowledgeable about the topics, although most of the work needs the textbook. Discussions were easy and the grading criteria are clear, you just need to do your research and answer the prompts correctly. Be detailed! This class was a breeze for me, although others may think otherwise. You just need to put in the work and reading into it.
If youre taking this class online during the pandemic its super easy if all you want to do is pass. If you want to actually learn you could probably do that too theres a lot of info just it isnt necessary to do work in order to pass
Mr Burtsen overall was a good profesor. The only stuff that were difficult was the discussions and he was a tough grader on those. You need to put a lot of effort in those and research about the topic. If you did write something that doesnt make sense he will deduct points. Another thing he gives extra credit too which helps boost your grade!!!!!
Overall this professor definitely expects for you togo above and beyond the requirements for assignments. if you don't you will not pass.
The tests are easy, the videos are really short, but discussion posts are where it matters. He doesn't grade easy, but he will allow you to send him a rough draft so he can point you in the right direction before you post for grading. His speciality is animals so we only learned about actual human psychology in the last 4 weeks. Disappointing class
Burnstein is very smart. However, he is not a good teacher. He speeds through lessons. Before our class started he sent out an email that suggesting we drop our Thursday lecture. He holds students to very high standards while sending out announcements with typos. His grading is not clear. I will say that he gives a ton of extra credit.
He finds mistakes where there are not mistakes, so you better check your own work to see if he is right. He includes info from future classes on the quizzes and exams. The class is definitely very interesting but he makes it very difficult and stressful because he acts like a mistakes hunter. If on ch.1 read also ch.2 he loves surprises.
I enjoyed my time in professor Bursten's class, his lectures were easy to understand and interesting. He was very enthusiastic and kind and there was not a lot of work assigned in his class.
You're going to need to put in more effort than on the rubric to get full points. It was somewhat difficult and time-consuming, but not impossible. The textbook is free so that's good I guess. He's old, so I'm not going to complain. Also to survive this class don't leave things at the last minute. Some of the material is actually interesting.
I enjoyed Stan Bursten's lectures. They were really interesting, the first two-three weeks were a little slow but after that, it got really interesting. He knows a lot about his subject and is enthusiastic about his subject. There is not a lot of work, only a quiz a week, and three exams during the semester.
Professor Bursten is a great professor and tries to make the material interesting. He is kind and funny and wants to help his students succeed. It is vital to read the textbook and study the lectures to prepare for the tests because I found them pretty difficult. Also, make sure to follow the study guides on Canvas.
Prof. Bursten is a great guy, he's passionate about psychology and his assignments help you learn via situations and juxtapositions of the past vs todays world. As long as you do your work in this class you'll do great.
Professor Bürsten is so sweet and caring!! Just one quiz every week on canvas and only 2 test and the final is just like a regular test. Easy A
Professor Bursten makes the material engaging. The lectures are interesting, but the tests are challenging. Using unstuckstudy and the free textbook helped me stay on top of the content and do well in the class.
Dr. Stan Bursten's class is pretty chill and doesn't require much effort. He spends most of class time reading off a powerpoint with an occasional group activity. He gives 3 non cumulative exams which are challenging, but only worth 25 points each. Do the extra credit and you'll be fine. He's funny, easy to talk to, and cares about his students.
I absolutely loved this class. I felt it was very little demand but understood the information at all times. Each class period was a lecture with very little tests and no homework. One 10 question quiz a week with two attempts. Lots of extra credit offered. He cares! Class was the best psychology class I could've imagined. 100% take this class.
One quiz a week online and you get two attempts. Very rarely has homework and if he does it's usually extra credit. 3 exams and the final only covers the last units not the whole semester. He usually adds extra credit to the tests. Exams are hard but if you pay attention and use the textbook it's an easy A. Super nice caring guy!!!
