Ingber is one of the best professors you can possibly take. He quite clearly knows his stuff and forces you to think critically. The work can be tough, but you will learn the material AND come out many times smarter at the end.

He might be kinda hard at first, before you get the pace of the class, but he is really good teacher. You think you know the answer, then he gives a slightly different situation and you have to think in totaly new light.

Ingber is a professor that you will not understand. He jumps around and your answer in class in never enough. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS... YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!

OK at explaining the basic concepts, but does a POOR job of explaining his comments on papers and exams and his reasons for the grade he gave you so that you can do better. A stickler for students being on time, but frequently keeps the class late. A very harsh grader.

Make no mistake, this prof is not easy. On the other hand, you will learn. He teaches via Socratic method, so come to class prepared. If you want to get the education you paid for, take his class. If you want some cutesy prof who gives easy A's, then don't. This is what college should be.

I loved Ingber. Ingber is the reason I went to law school. He does teach using the Socratic method, but if you want to go to law school, take him and get an idea. Not for the faint of heart...hes not an easy A and he can be abrasive but I loved the hell out of his class. Hes the best.

One of the best professors ive had in college, exactly what the college experience should be like. Tough grader but those who are really in school to learn should expect teachers such as him. Ive taken all his classes and would highly recommend him.

This professor was the best. I learned so much from him and i still continue to use the analytical skills he taught me. For anyone who is interested to go to law school he is perfect to help you prepare. He's not easy though so you have to have your**** together

I left his class understanding less about law than when I began. He confused me, refused to answer any questions at all. If I were trying for a PH.D maybe his style of teaching would be helpful. For undergrads his nonsense is useless.

his call is "interesting but difficult," i got a c+ in his class, but learned more from his class than from the rest of my profs that gave me a's. classes are all lectures, random court case reviews due almost weekly, a lot of reading, overall, if you like law, it's a great class

I am taking this class right now and I am not happy at all. This teacher is hard with the midterm, final, two papers, and a lot of reading and his lofor each major case. I would advise you not to take him. Avoid this class all together because he is the only professor that does not give easy A+.

I am taking this professor right now and oh my god stay away from this class. This professor is a one man show who loves to hear himself talk. He gives no one a chance to answer any questions and rambles on and on for his own listening pleasure. Word to the wise AVOID THIS MAN.

He sweats all the time and class and doesnt try to remember your name. He is an ****. If you give an answr to one question, he ask another one with different circumstances and if you feel different and say another answer he will shut you down and tell you that you are contradicting yourself. Also if you take long to answer him, he will get mad.

This professor is borring, not helpful, not interested in his students. He gives you a lot to read and a lot to write. It is very heard for students who just came to this counry as myself. I pass the class with D-, but who give you a D-? Never got a D in my life. Do not take him or you will regreed.In his class in is imposible to write an A paper.

Very difficult man. Its like as if he does not want anyone to pass the class. On every homework/term paper, all you see is red ink all over, critizing just about every damn thing you write! Class is somewhat interesting but he gives too many damn hypotheticals. He does make you think though, I'll give him that. Overall, not recommended.

Can't recommend him because he made do things like read and write, which i'm not good at and that's fine because no one needs to know how to do those things to get a job. I like professors who make no comments on my paper besides "A"

I am taking this prof. now (spring '06). Whatever you do stay away; do not take him. He is not helpful, his exams are hard, he always gives "what ifs", but never explains. You have to write a case log for every reading and he does not explain how to write a case log. In his class, you are on your own in his class, alot of people have dropped out.

Prof. Ingber is very rude and makes all the students feel as if they are in second grade. According to hinm all your answers are wrong and he is always right! His tests are super hard and he is very unreasonable. Is in no mood to help and brushes you off. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! YOU WERE WARNED!

When i first read his comments last semester, i thought the students were lazy. boy was i wrong. this professor can be interseting and i did learn. But i still failed. he does'nt answer questions, and says dont worry about the exams, but every one fails anyway. he doesnt review and is not very clear. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU WANT TO FAIL!!

PLZ.. fellow classmates, don't take him. You have alot of reading to do, one top of that he makes you read 25 pages ahead. Seriously we're all full time working individuals, we don't have that much time. You have to put up a name plate everytime and you better be ready because he will embrass you. Don't take him!!!! If ur GPA means anything to you.

HE is a very hard prof. If you're looking for an easy A don't take him because your not going to get it. You have to do work in his class, a lot of work, but in the end its all worth it. I've been in John Jay for 3 years and he is the best professor I had so far. I learned a lot in his class!!

He will make you think a lot in his class. You will learn in his class and he does make it interesting. But you cannot pass his class. No matter how hard you try, you are always wrong. When participating, you are always wrong. Nothing can satisfy him, and he use to be an editor for books, hence the reason why he is such a hard grader. Beware!

One Grade extra credit for doing the homework and one grade extra credit for participating in class how can anyone complain. He is the only teacher who would assign a 7 page paper and have it grade and corrected by the next class. He is an amazing teacher

Oh come on! Professor Ingber is a GREAT professor. He is very helpful when asked. He gives two 3-5 page papers, a midterm and final - two page scenarios (you figure out the convictions) thats all. He clarifies his concepts with great stories and examples. He asks for name tags just as it is done in law school. HELLO, THIS IS COLLEGE. GROW UP.

He doesn't explain any of the cases from the book. Rather, he gives hundreds of hypothetical situations, none of which he will answer or even express his own opinion about. He will call on you in class, intimidate you, and will expect an answer everytime. If you dont have an answer, he will try to humiliate you by making some rude comment.

Professors way if splitting up his grading policy is unfair, 50% of your grade is based on the final, so with that said if you do not pass the final, you do not pass his class.

A very demanding but worthwhile class. Be prepared for the Socratic method. Do the work, never come to class unprepared and you can get an A. 2 3-5 p. papers a final and a midterm based on hypotheticals and weekly case logs...lots of work but you will learn a lot.

Hard professor, DEFINITELY encourages you to think! Not easy at all but you will learn a lot. Very thorough in his teaching. Sometimes unfair in his expectations, but very clear in his lessons.

Professor has no sense of humor, is a abusive to his students, and has an annoying tone. The socratic method is fun to play with, but is irrelevant when it comes to the tests. Somewhat of an easy grader, though he buries anything you write in term papers

the guy warns all students the very forst day of how the class will be. he lets you know to make sure you come to class prepared other wise expect the unexpected. all you have to do is learn from his ideas and come up with you own hypothesis. he is a very tough grader, which teaches you to learn or go to writing center.

very strict. doesn't help you throughout the course. just expects you to do the work. must hand in case logs, 2 papers and read 40 pages a day. not an easy class. he likes to teach and knows his stuff, but doesn't put it in words that we understand. puts kids on the spot in class!!!! Wouldn't recommend him

Very hard class, a lot of work, so if you're looking for a laid back class, dont take him. prof is strange but very intelligent & knows he stuff. He forces you think, use your brain & participate. I hated all the work, but in the end I learned alot & was glad I took him. If you are interested in crim law or plan on going to law school, take him.

He is a brilliant teacher and is a tough but fair grader. He is clear in his expectations and does raise grades two levels for participation and for turning in case logs. (Just have to read). He is better than law professors at top schools and just as demanding. Those with a sincere interest in learning and the law, take this class.

Challenged me and the other students to read the material for every class, didnt take many notes but i was very involved in classroom discussion. He requires every student to do a short case log every week.. which isnt that hard.. i found his 2 papers for the course a bit challenging.. I learned a lot in his class though.

I'm going to give him a fair rating considering I'm a level headed student. I'm not going to lie this was one of my first law classes ever and I was not used to this format of a class but don't go in expecting it to be easy, you have to work and be able to understand the concepts of what he wants and yes he does put you on the spot.

Professor Ingber, is a difficult professor. He will introduce law to you,as if your in law school. I dropped his course because I could not keep up with the amount of work. if you are planning to take a class with him make sure you dont have any other classes on your plate,because he will overload you with work.

DONT TAKE HIM IF YOURE A FULLTIME STUDENT OR WORKING FULLTIME!!! he expects you to know your stuff even if you have never been taught the subject before. You will learn in his class but you earn your grade, its not easy to pass. I passed barely, thats because I did assignments and participated "Briefs and exams are def not the easiest".

Professor Ingber is a brilliant mind.Those who want to learn and better themselves at thinking effectively will appreciate and see his greatness.He sure challenges his students,but with their best interest in mind.If u do not have any interest in the field or in upgrading your thinking processes,u won't be able to appreciate him or enjoy his class.

first off if your reading this I think you should drop this professor, he's extremely difficult compared to other JJ professors, anal with lateness and even going to the bathroom, unclear when it comes to case logs which is why I ended up doing about 5 of the wrong case logs, overall not a good professor to take, trust.

If you are looking for an easy A don't take his class. His class is very demanding but if you never took a law class before take his because you will learn alot. He requires you to do case logs, 2 critique papers, final and a midterm. if you do all of your case logs and only fail two he raises your grade and the same with attendance

Would not recommend this professor even to my worst enemy. very unclear from what he wants from you, does not belong in CUNY. Over loads you with work at a 101 or 201 course, teaching methods are very strict, very challenging; beyond normal standard.

The professor is very nice, BUT the course is hard. He's a very smart, knowledgable person. Expexts students to participate & have discussions on what the topic is that day. Cases must be brief for every class, he collects them. The exams are somewhat hard, not very hard if you understand the class, make sure 2 ask Qs. VERY strict on attendance.

excellent professor. for those people complaining about how hard/confusing his class is they are the people you who just do the bare minimum to get an A and dont pay attention. dont take him if thats you because you will fail. he is a very good prof and is very knowledgeable. he does give alot of work but you will easily benefit in the end.

Just finishedthis Fall2011 semester withprof Ingber and let me tell you...it definitely was not easy. This class is very demanding of your time. You be required to do allot ofcase logs each week along with 2 MAJOR term papers, a midterm and a Final. Hes a tough grader (since he was an editor) and has no problem failing u.

Overall, this professor was very difficult being that i never took a law class before.He's an extremely hard grader and gives two term papers as well as midterm and final which are hypotheticals. He is very knowledable and demanding. this is not a laid back course being that he puts you on the spot always. He is helpful if you ask but hard course.

Ok, I have been reading how hard this teacher is. I tell you, His class is not hard. If you pay attention in class you will do well. Try to participat and please do not say "I don't know?" as an answer to a question. He would ask WHat do you think and people would answer I don't know. Obviously he doesnt know what you think...

I don't think he is a bad prof. per se but he is kinda boring. I was a bit disappointed that this class was not more interesting. He doesn't let you talk sometimes which is rude and will clearly ignore your hand raised. He is not really hard but the material is difficult. Decent class but prob. wouldn't have taken it.

I never thought I would drop any of the classes. Never say never. My first experience. VERY TOUGH class, VERY!!! 2 major papers, midterm and final + each single class you have to be ready to discuss at least 3-4 cases.... Don't take if you are full time student or work!!

This professor is very intelligent. Requires a lot of reading but its interesting. People are always complaining about the work but its not really hard, just time consuming. This class requires you to think and really helps you learn how to analyze situations from different points of view. Other professors acknowledge the fact that he is brilliant.

It takes a certain kind of brain to digest the complexities of law and translate it into a meaningful lesson. While exposure to the Socratic method is helpful, I think Professor Ingber could have done more to help his students make sense of the course. Constitutional Law is important and half of my class dropped, which is a red flag in my opinion.
