One of the best professors I've had at Baruch. Nice and funny guy. A little strict with the homework he asks you to do, but it's a good thing because the course material is quite difficult.
He can be very condescending and rude at times. Overall his class is pretty tough. He does not review for any of the exams or quizzes. If you can take another class I would do it.
He is the worst teacher!!! He stresses out everybody in class, does not review for any exams and picks on people in class.
This guy is hard but you really do learn something in the class, and even though he comes off mean at first, he really lightens up into the semester. Ask for help after class and he'll come through
may seem a little conceited and rough at first, but he's a really good teacher. his quizzes are easy multi-choice and his mid term is the same format as h.w questions. pretty strict about h.w but u'll remember business law for the rest of your life
Not really easy, but not hard. You learn a lot in class, but need to do work to get a good grade
He is tough but he teaches very clear. He discusses problems in every class.
As my first prof. in this course, I had to drop it: found him kind of abrupt, and too much to the book. Picked on me quite a bit, but he was HOT, in a Sopranos kind of way, so I didn't mind ;) Can't say I'd recommend him or not: c 4 urself like him tho:
Smart guy gives simple examples fairly simple exams if you understand the homeworks and the book, my suggstion is to get the study guide for his class, midterm and final, gives homeworks and always wants people to participate, he likes girls so if ur hot!
ONE OF THE BEST PRROFESSORS I'VE HAD. MAKES THE CLASS SEAM EASY, USES A LOT OF EXAMPLES, HAS A SENCE OF HUMOR, CAN BE A BIT SARCASTIC AT TIMES:) LECTURES ARE FUN AND VERY EASY TO UNDER, NOT BORING AT ALL.
He can really come across as rude and conceited. He tend to interrupt your questions, but he's a really thorough and good teacher, you learn a lot and he makes the material crystal clear. If you want to do wel in law and don't mind working hard, then definitely take him
Very rude, but if you do your homework, read chapters in advance, keep up with all assignments, it will not be any surprises on the test.
He likes to pick on people -- that's for sure. and can be sarcastic at times. In order to do great, you must do the homework assignments and participate in class. Exams tend to be on the hard side -- need to study. He made a girl in my class cry. He explains the material very well though.
He's pretty sarcastic and it takes some getting used to. But he is a very thorough professor. If you want learn business law and understand it..take him. Make sure you do all of the homework though, he tends to randomly pick on people ...you also have to participate alot.
If you do your homework and prepare for class then you'll be fine.Stanley is not HARD,Law1101 is. I don't know why people are intimidated.Stanley's teaching technique is awesome,he's extremely organized.2 quizzes(not a surprise)worth 10%,1 mid term 30%,and final 50% and 10% for class participation.
I love Sander. If only all the professors in Baruch are like him then my college life would be so much easier. He doesn't PICK on students, he'll call on people from the attendance sheet only if no one volunteer to do the hw problem.I think it's hilarious how some people were so intimidated by him.Geez grow up already...
Amazing professor.Higly recommended,it was quite an interesting course with Sanders. One of the most unforgettable classes at Baruch by far.I'll miss him.
Amazing prof. You gotta take him if you want to learn law and not get jerked around with profs who can't teach properly. The class is extremely easy if you do all your readings. He does give daily hw (which he usually doesn't collect), and a couple of non-surprise quizzes. Very competent and very helpful. His attitude takes some getting used to.
I think there are better prof. around. You are better off with Skou or Anderson. Not too much of a hard grader, but exams are hard. If you don't do well in the midterms is a bit harder to come ou with a good grade in the end.
Excellent professor!!! Even though he intimidates students, he is not a tough grader. He explanes material very well. A lot of work, do hw, read chapters, make notes and you will not have to study for final. Very very good professor, recomended!
He is a very good professor, he expects students to read the chapter and do the homework before he teaches, when he teaches, he will explain the material very clearly and understandable. If you study very hard, you will learn a lot from him. Highly recommanded!!!
No doubt, he is the best law professor
GREAT PROF...all you have to do is keep up with the work, if not u'll fall behind...gives daily hw (which he barely collects), 1 midterm, and two non-pop quizzes...very funny, but sarcastic at times. Very clear with his work, and very helpful. Makes class go by extremely fast. Just make sure you do the work!
He knows his staff
Great professor, who really cares about you and how you do in his class. All the information is on the slides, the book is needed for the quizzes since the questions are the same as the ones at the end of the chapter. Reviews are very helpfull. The classes are always fun and he teaches you stuff you will need in real life. Take him!
he is with out no doubt the best professor i ever had. you just cant get any better than this guy
If you want to truly ground yourself with a basis of Law understanding - this is the guy. Crystal clear teaching with the personality of an old fashioned gentleman, after adding a twist of wit. Amazing professor, highly recommended.
He is a good professor. His teaching style is very organized. He uses the book everyday. He remembers everything you do or do not do, so always let him know if you're going to be leaving early and whatnot. He loves students that actively participate and seem engaged in the subject. Do your homework and participate often !
The best professor I ever had.
Good professor. Well taught class. Expects students to volunteer for HW problems daily for participation grade. Participation 10%, 2 M/C Quizes 10%, Midterm 30%, Final 50%. Do your HW everyday and you'll have no problem getting an A.
He is good, explains the material very clearly and really interested me in the law. However, his midterm was way hareder than the departmental final, even though he grades fairly.Take him, but dont hope for an easy A.
Very tough grader. He explains material well and expects you to know everything(terminology must be used). Everyday HW or u'll be in trouble. Take anyone else, I'd say. He can mess up your GPA.
He is very detail-oriented and requires you to know AND understand(or probably memorize) all the chapters, which is a lot of information! It is a tough class.Interesting examples from his own career though.
For a Level 1 law class, it's a tough class. The material has to be understood. In my opinion, the professor's way of teaching is complicated. He puts you on the spot and can be rude. One time he said to a student "Speak like a man" That's rude and not necessary! I would suggest trying another teacher if possible.
This guy isn't easy going ( but show me an easy going layer :)) he explains the right stuff so thoroughly that u must be retarded not to get what he tests on exam. U MUST read the chapters before class. It is a tough course and tough final, so u have to study. I got an A, those who complain that he can't teach just did not made any effort to learn!
Very organised and clear about what he wants out of students. A fair grader His strategy of making students read the material first and do the HW before class makes slacker students(like me)get a good grade.Bottom line "If you are doing his assigned HWs you are gold for your finals."
Very good professor! You really learn the subject. Fair grader. And HILLARIOUS! I had so much fun! Just watch his moves, mimique, listen to what he says! It was both helpful and entertainning!
He's really way too hard.. teaches a good class though. Hardly a chance of doing well with his tests and hard departmental final. Prides himself on being a 'fair' grader who doesnt reward trying hard...
Take Prof Sanders and you will learn the material very well, if you take the class seriously. He demands too much work and is very strict! Not an easy class, but you walk away knowing a lot.
I had him a few semesters ago, but had to rate him again. Hes a very nice guy, who cares a lot about his students. Hes very clear, and grades homework/participation. He makes the class interesting, and fun. Do the work, and you'll be fine. he is highly recommended.
Good professor that jokes around with students and came in early to answer any questions we had. His lessons were crystal clear and pretty interesting. He'll give you partial or even full credit on tests, even if you got the answer wrong, as long as you explain the legal concepts and your reasoning. Take him!
Very good professor. Was very clear in his teaching. Pretty funny. I learned a lot in his class. He gives 2 quizzes and 1 midterm. Pretty straight forward about his grading. If you want to learn law, take him. Very good class.
He is the best professor that I ever had in Baruch. Make sure you do the homework problems daily so you won't be in trouble and you should have no problems with exams. His teaching style is crystal clear. He's highly recommended if you want to learn law. Very good professor.
Great professor. If only the other professors had interest in their subject matter like professor sanders does. Extremely insightful class, practical for the real world. Not the easiesr professor, but id def recommend him to any of those interested in law!
This is the best professor I've ever had. It's not easy to get an A in his class, but as long as you paying attention, read chapters, and go over problems, you will be fine. He is amazing, definitely take him!!!
Professor Sanders calls himself the easiest professor at the university. He is a great man, extremely kind. Allows homework corrections in class before handing it in (when/if it's collected), which is not often. Take his class. You will learn a lot if you put the effort. If you don't - you won't.
TEXTBOOK NEEDED. You will have homework and readings every class. There is alot of material in this class but I think Sanders does a great job make sure it is understandable. He lays out notes for you every class. Take notes and do the homework and you will understand perfectly. 2quiz 10MCQ, midterm and dept final(essays, JUST LIKE THE HOMEWORKS)
Class is a decent amount of work, homework's and readings for every class but I learned more in the class than any other. Take the notes he writes on the board and do the homework's and you should be fine.
Helps is there when you ask. Lectures the class but keeps it interesting by sharing his experiences. Must read to be able to answer questions. Doesn't always check homework but counts for a lot when he does. Class participation is important. Couple of quizzes, midterm and final. Has a good sense of humor.
There's a LOT of material, but his lectures are organized and thoroughly taught. You MUST read the book and especially do the hmwk cuz the open-ended questions on the midtermfinal are very similar to the hmwk problems. Otherwise, what he expects is crystal clear. If you don't put the effort in, you won't get a good grade.
This professor is amazing! I can understand not many students like hime, because he is strict and gives lots of homework. However, don't forget that Law is difficult. If you wanna learn something, you have to put into your efforts. Although it's somehow difficult, Prof. Sanders is always there for you, so he could help you to get ideal grades.
Pretty straight forward from day one, tells you what you need to do and how to do it. Those who don't listen or follow directions will obviously struggle. Participation and homework are important factors in grading so make sure you do both. Seems intimidating at first, but honestly he is pretty chill and understanding.
GREAT PROFESSOR! Not an easy A but if you want to learn something, I recommend that you take him.
Professor Sanders is a good professor. He is very direct about what is expected and how it is to be done. Read the text, put in effort in the HW, and build a report with him by asking good/thoughtful questions and you'll do well. Its a course with a lot of work but it's not overly difficult and despite his first impression he really cares about you
at the start, i thought he was rude and egotistic but i was wrong. he made it clear from day 1, if i didnt say it in class, its not on the test. do your homework (sometimes collected), come to class, study for tests. He is very smart. homework due every class. you need your textbook since HW content comes before its taught in class
Very, very straightforward. Everything that is to be expected is in his syllabus and course guidelines. Do not come come late, he will call you out, and pick on you for the rest of the class. I would come early, he goes over important stuff even before class. Overall, I think he's a very good professor, I learned a lot, and I would take him again.
Professor Sanders is great! He makes you work hard for your grade. He explains the materials in a way that's easy to understand. Study the material he covers in class and you'll do good
Best professor I've had so far. He's really chill and you really get to understand what you're learning. Homework is due every class but it's nothing too hard. Just be specific in your answers and you'll get a good grade.
Overall, the class was hard which is obvious because it's Business Law. Participation/attendance worth 10%, 2 quizzes worth 10%, midterm worth 30%, department final worth 50%. Midterm was harder than the final. Doing the daily homework prepares you for the final. Professor really cares that you learn the material, and values your participation.
One of my favs this semester. He CLEARLY explains the topics. As he always states, "We have a lot to cover." They're seemingly ENDLESS laws & statutes to learn & memorize. There's a MT, 2 quizzes, F, & COUNTLESS hw. The hw is worth 0% unless he collects which is rare, but do it!! It reinforces the topics & if collected you lose points! STUDY TERMS!
Good professor. Very organized which is one thing I really like about his course. He will try to work with you to help you get an A. It might be a lot of work but you will definitely learn a lot of useful information.
Best law professor I've ever had. At day 1, he seems intimidating at first because he tells everybody to get the textbook. Every day, you have lots of homework to do because it helps you prepare for midterm and final. But he is a very good professor because his teaching style is crystal clear. If you want to learn law, I recommend you take him.
Amazing Professor! Goes over EVERYTHING in such a positive and efficient way. Attending the lectures are a surefire way for you to ace the midterm and finals. Incredibly compassionate and runs a tight but VERY fun class.
Stanley Sanders is an amazing professor. In the beginning of the semester, I thought he was not that great and I disliked him. However, I just didn't like being called on at random. Participation matters in this class. You cannot be even a minute late. He really knows the material and knows how to teach! Love him now. You should definitely take him
The best law professor in Baruch. He can really teach and is so nice, you should definitely take him.
Do homework and reading before class, dont be late. Buy the book from the store not online. Your first impression will be a lasting one so dont bring food/drink the first day and bring the book.
I read the Review and thought he was great and enrolled immediately. Sanders Turns out to be one of the strictest and toughest teachers in Baruch. I had to drop the class after studying daily. Never missed a Class, homework, studied hard, but still couldn't get a good grade. Sometimes a Good Rating doesn't tell you everything.
Don't pay attention to those who gave prof. Sanders a bad review - keep in mind that those are the same students who did not care to study enough to do good in the course because they think they already know everything. Law can be hard but prof. Sanders is great at making it easier. Take him if you want to learn. Best professor I had this semester
If he doesnt like you, dont expect to get a good grade. Hes very rude and condescending. I got a 90 on the midterm. The 2 quizzes I got was 100 for both. I did very well on the final. He can interrupt you and yell at you and give you attitude. I was supposed to get an A but instead I got a D for the course. Stay away from this rude professor.
The course is organized and the lecture was organized with notes so that you are able to take notes quickly and effectively. Reading and homework every night. Not allowed to eat, call out, or arrive late. Do any of these things and he'll stop the lecture to scold you and then continue. Take this class if you have thick skin and ready to WORK.
Awesome professor. Kids are intimidated by him in the beginning because he seems super strict and calls on you randomly, but he is one of the best teaching professors at Baruch. He makes it very easy to understand the material if you pay attention. If you don't do the homework and don't pay attention in the lectures, this class will be difficult.
Do not take this professor if you want a easy semester. Lots of hw, grades very harshly, and always call on people randomly. Take him if you are willing to challenge yourself and do lots of work
Sanders is intimidating at first, but if you let that hinder your learning, that speaks on you as a student and not on him as a professor. He explains every topic clearly and in depth, so that your notes are the best way to study for the 2 quizzes and midterm. If you show up and pay attention, you should expect at least a B in this course.
The bad reviews im reading rn are all from students who cheated and never did their homework and never cared. I knew a few who would ask me for my hw everyday- dont do this or you wont pass. Law is a challenging subject but prof sanders makes it very easy to understand and very organized. He is also very lenient with grades and the best law prof.
He is the very toughest I ever had. He keeps asking you to answering his own questions. If you missed a few questions, it would cut your points off. The questions are somewhat basic but somewhat tricky. Always finish the homework and submit it on time. has to be present and hard working. I can't expect what I'll have. so mean. no second chance.
Professor Sanders is an incredible professor! He prepares you well for the final exam which is cumulative! He cares about his students and really wants them to go above and beyond. He does give out a lot of readings and homework so be prepared for that. However, he wants every student to have an A in the class!
He gives out outlines for every class . READ AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK! You must!! Participate and he'll love you and if you don't, be aware that he will randomly call on you. Do not be late for class.
Professor Sanders assigns seats to grown adults, and calls people out for certain things in front of the whole class. I saw him confront a student to the point where she had to explain herself for leaving due to getting her period and having to run to the store during class. The few females in the class were mortified. I wouldn't take him again.
Sander is a very easy to follow professor and I found his law course to be one of the most interesting I've taken at Baruch. He assigned daily homework so be ready to be put aside 1-3 hours to write up some good answers for the textbook questions. He's a lenient grader if you show effort and thought. Be prepared to read your answers and explain!
You learn everything from the textbook and the lecture is just for him to grade your attendance. He'll grill you for the whole class if you don't know the answer to his question and if you don't reply to him right away he'll mark you absent. Don't take him.
Sanders is the best professor Ive had at Baruch. Great informative lectures, explains stuff really well. Must go to class, a good amount of homework that must be completed well. He calls on people a lot, participation is big. Get ready to share your homework to the class. Textbook is very useful, must read it. Pay attention and read textbook for A.
Hes very condescending and he makes fun of us whenever we dont know the answer to questions or if we dont say it the specific way he wants us to (we spent 30 minutes trying to find the specific word he wanted us to us). I only took this class because of the good reviews, but they seem to be all lies. Do not take if you want to have mental health
Lectures always go beyond the time limit. Super strict about many things. Tough grader. Definitely will never take him again.
Do not take this class... How is it that I'm passing with flying colors, but I almost failed his class ( I dropped it)? The material is not insanely hard; however, I will admit one does have to put in the effort to connect the dots. He makes the class so much more difficult with his snide and condescending remarks instead of answering questions...
For the love of god guys please take anyone but him. Super tough grader, VERY LONG LECTURES. I was suffering in this class, which ruined my entire prestigious GPA as well. Definitely won't recommend it.
How does this prof have a 4.1 rating. Horrible horrible, avoid at all costs!!! Always calling on people, no chill super strict. Such a tough grader. Class always goes over time. Glad i got this done with but it was one of the worst classes I've taken. Takes everything so seriously like dude chill out. Do not take if you love yourself. :(
one of the classes i had to study for the most, but his outlines were lifesavers. do the outlines as you read the textbook , go to class prepared, and ask as many questions as you need bc participation is 15% of your grade. he is also more lenient w students that participate a lot, so that might help you stick out when giving curves. sweet prof.
Overall, if you do not want Law 1011 to be harder than it should be, avoid this professor at all costs! He is very methodical, but his work is very time consuming and can be challenging. He will definitely prepare you for the midterm and final but overall this class is tedious.
Highly recommend Professor Sanders because he is very knowledgeable in law. Definitely a challenging class and needs you to put a lot of work into it, but his outlines are AMAZING so take notes during the lectures as it is a life-saver for the projects, midterm, and final. He also gives many examples, making the concepts much easier to understand.
Rude obnoxious cant be late calls u out in class to embarrass u
Sanders is an amazing professor if you give up your time and dedicate yourself to the course material. He can be a bit strict, and participation is worth 15% of your grade, but if you come prepared to class and participate you will receive a good grade. His outlines were definitely a huge plus.
this guy is ridiculous. he will literally call you out and embarrass you in front of the entire class for no reason. seems like he enjoys being rude to students. he is an unreasonably strict grader and is very intimidating. participation is 15% so don't take if you're a shy person because he doesn't care and it'll hurt your grade.
Professor is horrendous. He will if you don't participate call you out and embarrass you in front of the class especially when it comes to homework questions. A very strict grader when it comes to every assignments including midterm and final. Heavy on participation, you'll have to participate in every class (15% worth your grade).
There is a lot of reading about 60-90 pages a week. He knows his stuff, but is not approachable at all. He WILL call you out in front of everyone in class, if he encourages you turn on your camera. There is a total of about 21 homeworks, he only grades 3 of them randomly, they do count towards your participation of 15%. AVOID!!!!!!!
Shocked to see all the bad reviews.I took his class and I am on the shyer side but he never made me feel bad about it because I did all the work necessary (which was not even difficult tbh). He gives you specific words to use because that's how the legal system works and that's how you do well on the final. This class was easy and usually i struggle
0/10 would not recommend.. Honestly confused how he has so many good ratings. Super tough grader, he doesn't care of you have the right answer he grades you how he wants to. Will embarrass his students in front of everyone any chance he gets. Incredibly rude. Has no respect for the students that are literally paying him.
The very outdated way of teaching and a very boring class. if you don't participate in class often it is likely he will be rude when you do. Overall the work itself isnt too difficult if you read the assigned chapters.
I would never take Sanders again he has this sarcastic persona where he laughs at students who answers incorrectly. ParticipatIon is 15 % of your grade you are likely to have a better grade and communication if you do so. He quote on quote doesn't like to repeat himself, he sometimes gets annoyed when students ask questions. Join at your own risk.
Don't know why there are bad reviews of this professor. I was for the majority of the class quiet, but he has never made a fuss about it. Yes attendance is mandatory. Yes the work is simple, and somewhat of a breeze if you actually put in the effort since its a difficult subject. Syllabus! Use it to your advantage. Overall, I recommend him 100%!
Absolutely the worst professor I've ever had. He treats students like they're in elementary school and has no respect for them. If you don't know the answer, he will put you on the spot and embarrass you in front of the class. Despite studying hard, I was shocked by my final grade. The entire experience was frustrating and unprofessional.
Best to show early to his class and not a minute later, to avoid being called out. He highly encourages participation as it is worth a good portion of the grade. learning material is not very hard, but is memorization heavy. all homework counts as a part of preparedness grade even though he does not grade all of them.
He is the best professor at Baruch if you didn't take him yet you have lived under a rock your whole life. If you work hard enough to prove him that you are making an effort you should be fine. There are multiple homeworks however it's not too much so don't be traumatized. He also loves taking about random stuff sometimes so just play along and fun
Pretty bad professor. Attendance is mandatory and you must participate. Has no respect for students, will call you out, and embarrass you. Has strict grading and very low leniency.
If the professor doesn't like you, don't expect to get a good grade. He's very rude and condescending. I got an 86 on the midterm. He really has an attitude problem. I did very well on the final. Instead of getting an A, I got a D-. Don't take him if you want your mental health to be good. Stay away from this rude professor as far away as possible.
Professor Sanders has a specific teaching style, but if you engage with it, the class is manageable. The workload is reasonable, and using resources like the textbook and Unstuck ai can help with study prep. Participation is key, so be prepared to speak up.
