This professor is very unclear in his lectures. There is no help when a student goes to his office hours and can expect not to get their questions answeared.
This guy is what a teacher should not be. Disinterested, not willing to truly teach, only to speak about himself and then expects people to already know the class. Unfortunately, his class is a requirement so he won't have a shortage of students which is a real measure of a teacher's success.
HORRIBLE
This teacher is a good teacher if your willing to listen to his advice about seeing "the big picture" rather than just taking notes. If you do the practice homework and write down clear steps for what he does on the computer, the class really isn't that difficult.
Subject is extremely boring, but mandatory!! Prof does not make it any easier. Uses his own book which you print out from website. Book not very clear at all. You MUST attend every lecture or you will be lost on the exams. The only good thing about this teacher is that he offers practice exams before tests. The tests are like the practice tests.

Not a good Prof. Very arrogant and not friendly.
he just sucks, don't like the guy. He don't care about you at all. very unprofessional and self esteem.
DO NOT TAKE HIM>> HORRIBLE
Taylor refuses to give a straight answer. He is neither clear nor concise and his textbook sucks. He assigns homework that is vague and is not understanding with partial credit. His tests are based on practice tests which is good. I would choose another class if I had the chance.
Very self esteem!! don't care about students!! will not hesitate to fail as many people as he feel like! Have no class!
Good teacher as long as you attend class. Must show everyday and take all notes from lecture. The class is difficult but doing the practice tests will make all the difference in the world, GUARANTEED!
Material is hard but learnable if you attend all his lectures and do the case studies over at home.
Easy class, you just have to do good on the tests and do the practice tests.
Past reviews on him are not true. Prof. Taylor is a great teacher you just have to go to class. He gives you practice exams that tell you what is going to be on the test. You dont have to buy a text, you just print it off the web.
Prof. Taylor is a great teacher.Practice tests, homework are huge help in getting good grade. Do not be scared to go to his office and ask questions; he explains good. If you study, attend the class, and follow directions, you will do just great.
BEST DS TEACHER AT CSUS. DO NOT LISTEN TO PRIOR BAD RATINGS. Start the semester out with going to his office hours.ATTEND CLASS REGULARLY. DO THE HOMEWORK/REVIEW. GET A STUDY GROUP. Material is not easy. Pay attention, hes easy to follow, and super nice. Go to office hours. Notecard on test. GREAT practice exams help, almost like exam. Opt. final.
This was an easy stats class. Prof Taylor walks you through every step of each of the exams and makes sure you uderstand what is happening, if you don't understand you should take advantage of his ofice hrs he will explain everything to you.
Taylor is a horrible instructor!! He is not clear in his explanations when he is introducing something new or with the hw. He assumes you know what he is talking about; he doesn't break down the material to explain it on an introductional level. The text book is horrible, it also assumes you already know the material; not very helpful.
You must put extra effort into this class period if you want a good grade, no matter what teacher. But if you get into a study group, go over the material, do the practice exams, do the homework(mantatory or not), and attend class regularly, you will be okay. Go to the teachers office hours at the BEGINNING of the semester. He is EXTREMELY helpful.
NOT A GOOD INSTRUCTOR AT ALL!! He does not explain material well at all! Very difficult to understand what he actaully wants from you when doing hw assignments! This class takes alot of outside time to learn and understand and hw is time consuming! I would not recommend this professor, he is way too vague and not clear in explanations!!!!
Everyone who is saying that Taylor is a bad professor obviously never went to class. He goes over all the material until everyone understands it. The class is very easy if you go to class and do the homework. He gives you a pretest that is almost exactly like the exam and you get to have a cheat sheet. Best DS teacher there is.
not helpful to students
This is the worst professor I have ever had. He makes no sense, mombles all his words and assigns homework problems that he hasnt even mentioned how to do. Also if you ask him to clarify something he just gives you the same example that confused you originally. Take anyone else!
Contrary to what almost everyone is saying...this teacher is not bad. He goes over the concepts a million times! Do your homework, do the pretest and you will get an A. If you don't go to class, the material will be very difficult. In class he gives you examples and you just follow his examples to do the HW.
This class is really tough! If you read the book (he wrote it), go to class everyday, do the homework & cases, and ask for help when you need it you will be fine. It is a tough concept so be sure to ask him for help if you don't understand or you will never catch up. Not the most interesting thing in the world though.
This is one of the better DS101 teachers. He explains the content in an easy to understand way. He has an e-book, so you don't have to purchase one. Some people find his class to be hard, but if you show up and do the homework you will do fine.
The class was hard, especially if you did not attend regularly. He gave hw assignments that were time consuming. If you visit him in his office hours he is very helpful and breaks everything down step by step. The book was helpful in describing each section but not helpful with the Statgraphics program, which you needed to have a good grasp of.
Harsh comments! Prof. Stanley is a great prof. The material is not easy- but he explains concepts well and learn a lot from. Go to class (you will be lost if you miss), do the hw- turn in or not (helps a lot!), and don't miss review days- usually include 1 or 2 questions that he doesn't go over so study main concepts. Allow 3x5. Opt final.
don't miss class. hard but you will learn. easy b for lazy students if you learn the study guide and steps on how to do it. note card is very helpful. only way to pass this class really is if you had a friend who took it the prior semest and they give you their stuff so you have all potential questions on the exam. group project was stupid, but ok
easy if you understand basic stats... class wasnt as bad as i thought it was just put in the effort to learn and you will be alright
GREAT TEACHER, DOES AN EXCELLENT JOB EXPLAINING MATERIAL. It's definitely an application course though. He wants you to actually UNDERSTAND what you're doing and why. Exams aren't too difficult, he tells you EXACTLY what's on them and how to answer for full credit.
He tells you exactly what'll be on the exams. Makes sure students understands the big picture. If you don't study and want to learn, YOU WILL FAIL. Going to class is not enough, you'll need to UNDERSTAND the material. People who fail the class are the ones who just memorize the process in stead of understanding it.
He's a good professor. Do the HW / Practice Tests / ask questions! He loves that. Go to class and you'll be fine. Explains well, easily accessible after class. Overall he's a good prof. Remember to understand "Big Picture". Dont memorize and take time to understand concepts.
Good professor. I was scared of taking his class after reading rmp reviews, but glad I did. He's fair and helpful if you ask for help. Be sure to follow his instructions for the exams, he's very selective on wording you use, learned it the hard way. Also, we formed a study group, and that was a life savior, no one in our group got less then a "B".
Dr. Taylor is an excellent teacher. He really takes the time to be sure that you are clear on subject matter. He reviews everything the class period before exam. I encourage GOOD notes and close attention to word usage in exams. He is a bit strict with regard to word usage. If you're upto a challenge and want to learn something...take him!
He is one of the best teacher's I've had thus far! Very approachable & easily accessible. He gives great reviews before each exam. Come to class everyday, pay attention, take really good notes & form study groups. You will definitely learn a lot in this class. Think "Big Picture" & understand concepts, don't just memorize & u can get that A!
I can not speak more highly of this professor. He relates everything to the big picture and how it actually applies to the real world. He is very helpful and as long as you are prepared for class you will do great. Best teacher I have had at Sac State, there were 5 homework assignments 2 midterms and a final he made optional.
He's a hard professor. If you don't answer on the exams the way he wants you to...word for word his way, then good luck. I dreaded going to his class. Also we had a massive project due that was super hard and stressful. Worked all day and more on it and still only got a C. I'd say stay away.
He's definitely not as hard as the other reviews have made him seem. I was really nervous for this class because of his ratemyprofessor rating but I ended up with an A and barely studied. Just listen during class and understand the practice exam and you will do fine.
Thought this class would be a night mare after reading the other reviews. However it turned out not so bad! I took the adjunct class in addition to the class and ended up with a B. Only 5 homeworks, 3 quizzes, and 3 exams with one of those being an optional final. Project was confusing and worth lots of points. Not as bad as others make him seem!
Excellent teacher, tough class. Make efforts to go to his office hours and he'll help you until you get it... even if there is a crowd of people waiting outside to talk to him next.
He is the better DS 101 professor to pick from so far. However, it's not an easy A. He wants you to understand the concepts & think about the "Big Picture." The key to getting a good grade is practice, practice, practice. Make sure you REMEMBER how to do explain topics exactly how he says it in class & do the calculations exactly how he shows you.
Go to the tutoring center in tahoe hall it is really helpful! This professor is the only one who will actually teach you something that you will later use in life. He does not require you to buy a textbook which is a plus. If you do not go to class and really pay attention you will fail.
He is one of the better professors I've had. Willing to answer questions he does his best to help his students. The final project was rather difficult but my advise would be to start on it early.
I thought this class would be so hard I'd have to spend nights working overtime just to understand it. However, just attend class, LISTEN, use the book as reference, and go to office hours and you should be fine. He is very precise on what he wants done on exams and the project, no curve balls at all. Highly recommend.
Great professor! Not an easy A. Attendance mandatory to pass the class. No need to buy a book. Must understand the concepts. You will learn. Very helpful!
book is given. pay attention and come to class and youll pass the class with a good grade.
Great professor, you have to attend class. You can get An A if you do the practice Exams he puts out. Study the practice Exams they are most likely the same as the actual EXAM.
He's a decent teacher. Do all the practice exams because they are identical to the test, however the optional final is nothing like the tests. He's the kind of teacher that wants you to understand the bigger picture rather than small details. There's homework but no textbook to buy.
You download and print the textbook. Definitely do the practice exams and completely understand how to do them and you will do fine on the exams. His class isn't an easy A, but the tutors in Tahoe Hall will help if you're having a tough time. Class is hard, but worth it. Recommended!
The class seems hard in the beginning.Make sure you listen during lecture because you'll understand the "big picture" which he stresses often.Grades are based off 4 HWs, 4 quizzes, a project(which is confusing & difficult at first, he's very broad with what he wants on assignments)& 2-3 exams(final=optional). Go to tutoring in Tahoe Hall if you can
It's a hard class made harder by poor lecture style. He uses a lot of words to explain fairly simple concepts and is very picky on what he accepts as answers on exams. He's not a bad professor, and is way better than alternatives, but be prepared to stress out. You don't need to buy a textbook for this class.
His class was quite difficult. I liked the fact that we did not have to purchase a book. He is a cool professor but he can be intimidating. He likes to make you feel dumb sometimes. He is very picky with what he wants you to put on your test.
The class seems difficult in the beginning. If you attend class regularly, do all assignments, and go to his office hours you will get a good grade. He is very approachable and willing to help if you ask. Tests are not easy, but go to tutoring in Tahoe and you will do fine. Overall, class was pretty good.
This class is very hard. Lectures are very boring. If you do not put the exact words down on your assignments that he is looking for, he will heavily dock your grade. Not a very fair grader. Easy to understand, just presents the material in a way that is much more difficult than it should be.
Sure is pompous for someone that teaches at Sac State. Regurgitate word for word what he says in 'his textbook' for exams and you will get an A. Any deviation will significantly lower your grade. Go to the tutor to make sure you do EXACTLY what he wants for group project. Learning involves more than regurgitation so a hard class for nothing.
He's very vague, doesn't explain very well what he wants on the projects. If you don't answer his exams the way he wants, he'll dock the full amount of points. Doesn't respond to emails fast enough. Makes you feel dumB when you try to approach him. Is not flexible with his office hours. He's very quiet, try to sit in the front if you decide to take
He's a tough guy, but go to class and definitely use the business tutoring lab if you know you need help. Your Final is optional, after the 2nd exam if you like your grade you don't have to take the final. When he says if he sees improvement he will boost your grade, he will. I was suppose to get a C, ended up with a B+ due to improvements!
Not an easy class but I wouldnt say its a ridiculousy hard class. Read and refer to his txtbk online and work on the problem through the computer a few times to understand. Take good notes and you will do fine. Project was ehhh okay. My partner we chose something fairly easy so wasnt bad.
Hard class, but not impossible to get an A. He expects you to remember a lot from Stats. Go to tutor center to prepare for midterms and you will pass. Group projects will help raise your grade if you pick your partners wisely (get your proposal signed!). Optional final. Will give extra credit if he feels class deserves it.
Professor Taylor is amazing. I took him Fall 2014 and absolutely loved his class. Lectures are long but relate directly to exams. TAKE GOOD NOTES. Study guides are very similar to his exams also. If you like your grade, you DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE THE FINAL. Work hard, study hard and it pays off. Also visit him during office hours, gives great advice.
He is by far the worse prof I've had at Sac State. Very rude to students and not willing to help at all. Avoid him at all cost.
This is the worst teacher at Sacramento State. He doesn't care about any of his students. Hope you don't like to ask questions, because if you do he'll try and make you feel dumb. If you get one tiny part wrong in an answer he takes off all of the credit for that problem. He should quit teaching if he obviously hates it so much.
Great teacher. I don't understand why everyone is giving him such bad ratings. He posts practice exams on Blackboard which are almost identical to the exams and even goes over the answers (no excuses for not getting an A). A few hw assignments (4-7), 1 groupindividual project, 3 exams and 1 optional final. Class attendance crucial for getting an A
He's the best and worst instructor you'll ever have. If you want to be successful you should never miss a lecture. 2 exams and a project (group allowed). He's very difficult but very happy to answer any questions if you visit him in his office hours. If you take good notes and study those notes you don't need to read the book and will do well.
I found this course to be quite easy. There are a couple of homework assignments, 3 tests, 1 project, and 1 optional final. Before every tests he gives practice exams that are IDENTICAL to tests and gives you answers to it. What he says will be on the tests is exactly what's on it.
This class was incredibly difficult for me. I had to attend tutoring for clarity on lectures. He lectures very quickly and does not leave much time for questions during class. If you can't make it to his office hours it is very tough to ask him questions. Most test questions are short answer.
This class is impossible. Not only is the subject difficult, but the professor's lack of teaching skills made it more of a challenge. The only way to succeed in his class is to attend the tutoring center given that they have answers to the hw and exams, otherwise you will fail. I have approached the professor several times for help & got no help.
This is the worst class that I had ever taken at Sac State. The professor lectures really fast, and the tests are really challenging. Stay away from him if you can.
I didn't learn anything from his class. He is very confusing and he races through the lectures. He does like it when we ask questions tho. His tests are really tough, and he is extremely strict when it comes to grading. No quizzes, no papers, no group work. Just three tests, lots of homework, and an optional final.
Hardest Professor I've had at Sac State. He speeds through the material, expecting that you are a pro at using Statgraphics. The material is challenging and he speeds? You really have to put at least 3-4 hours per class period going over what he taught that day to really grasp it. No mercy when grading. No half credit points. Goodluck.
Not as bad as reviews make it seem. I'm not the best at math and did fine. Optional final. No longer assigns a group project. 3x5 card allowed on exams. Exams do have some off the wall questions. Prof always talks about "big picture" then puts a random question worth 10-15% of the total points on the exam to "separate the A students."
Taylor is the best. I learned a lot and feel I will use a lot of what I learned in my career. Not an easy class, but if you put in the time you will learn. He is very approachable.
He may seem tough when you first start the course, but he's a really nice guy who is willing to help you out, making sure you understand the material and wants to succeed, loved him! Tests are a bit tough, but if you study, not bad at all (can use a notecard on tests!) He got rid of his project as well!!! Utilize the tutoring center, really helps!!
A challenging class, but Taylor is an awesome teacher. Be prepared to put in a lot of time. Go to his office hours , he is very helpful. Don't skip class. Use tutoring center. Tests are easy , as they are almost the same as practice exams (can use 3 x5 card)
The first thing he told our class was that he failed 29 students the semester before. Text isn't helpful and the lectures are hard to outline. Some people totally clicked with his style and I know people who got As. What saved my grade was studying in groups and attending office hours. He's a really tough grader on test, homework not so much.
This class is difficult but you will have to work for your grade. I went to his office hours but did not receive help from him. There is always the tutoring center to ask for help. He assigns several homework to do and you can use a 3x5 card on the exams and final. I highly suggest studying with a group.
Taylor is one of the best I Have had at Sac State. He makes a tough subject interesting. Great class. Be prepared to do the work but if you need help, and you will, he is there for you. Tutors are great.
Best professor I have had at Sac State. Material is only difficult if you do not study nor put any effort to leaning. He is very approachable, and you can learn a lot from this class. He tries to make you learn concepts in order to become successful in your future career. Great class, great professor.
Promises that exams will be similar to practice exams, but it is a lie. Empty promises.
Awesome teacher
This class seems hard at the beginning and gets easier. Everything is explained clearly. If you are confused he is helpful at office hours and answers questions through email. He doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions. The final is optional. Dr Taylor designed this class and wrote book(free).
Extremely difficult class regardless of professor. The practice exams are very similar to the actual exams so do those at least a couple of times before the test and you'll be fine. Utilize his office hours and/or Business Admin. tutoring center in Tahoe Hall. Try to squeeze as much information from the practice exam on your notecard, it will help!
For sure makes you work for your grade. after the first exam you feel doomed but it does get better. Constantly go over the practice exams for the second part (Statgraphics part) its pretty much the same as on the real exam except for different numbers. Use your note card well! study a lot dont miss class/not pay attention.
He goes through all the material step by step and is more than willing to answer questions as he goes along or during office hours. His tests are exactly like his study guide. As long as you pay attention and get help when you need, this class is an easy A.
I don't think prof Taylor is as bad as people make him sound. The content itself is a little difficult, so I think thats why people rate him low. He tries to be as clear as possible and goes over problems and questions, if you ask. He lets you use a notecard on the tests, so that helps a lot. And his texts are almost identical to his study guide.
The concepts are hard to understand in the first place, but he is very patient to explain them again. Online homework and quizzes are easy points. There are two exams, and final exam is optional. His exams are mostly based on the exam study guides. As long as you don't skip any class, you will at least pass the class.
Horrible class. HW is nothing like tests. Class average on our first exam was a 40%. Do not take.
Take the sample exams seriously because the tests are exactly the same! Make sure you understand all the concepts on that sample exam and you will do great! If you like your grade then you don't need to take the final!
Prof Taylor is an amazing person and professor. He truly cares about his students passing and succeeding not only his class, but also later in life. DS 101 is a difficult subject in general. Exams are VERY similar to the sample tests. Do the online HW-it will boost your grade. Don't buy the book-only the code is fine.
Taylor is the best instructor I have had at CSUS. His class in very practical. I have used the material in the course in my current job. Highly recommend
Tough class but Taylor makes it manageable. Two exams and online homework. If you do well on the exams then the final is optional. Do the exam review because the actual exams are almost identical. Attendance is optional but definitely attend review days. The homework is easy and is a big chunk of your grade.
Sac State hires some very unprofessional people. This "teacher" makes life vety difficult for students. No accommodation at all. Self taught class. The exam is not like the practice exam. Can't ask a question without feeling like you're stepped on. He can't teach at all. All over the place do not take him.
This professor definitely makes you work for your grade. The practice exams are nothing like the actual test, and the final is definitely a joke. I took it to make sure I had the lowest test dropped, but he put in things we never cover in class. I left in the middle of it. The online homework is super annoying if you are off by a few decimal places
His tests are almost identical to his study guides. Im honestly not sure how people failed to get either an A or B in the class. He literally goes over every question on the study guide and shows you how to work out each problem. This subject is difficult sure, but its very hard to fail his test. Overall the professor cares for his students.
The subject is hard, but a good teacher can get the info across to students. He kept saying we just need to understand the big picture, but tests are not just on "the big picture." He failed to teach us how to use the JMP. He whizzes thru everything too fast. He assigned 3 chpt worth of HW to be done in less than a week then nothing else for weeks
Attendance isn't mandatory, but show up if you want to pass. All the homework was online. He had one final project, it was tough. He also had 2 exams, plus an optional final. He is a very tough grader on the exams and he loads them up so that most of the people in the class don't finish.
Homework is long so make time for it. Two exams and an optional final. The first two exams were almost identical to the study guide but beware for surprises. Also long so not many get to finish and he doesn't care. Project was confusing, most had to go to office hours in order to understand. Monotone, boring class. Make friends if you take him.
I honestly dont get how people do not pass the class. Sure the topic is difficult, but the professor is helpful if you ask questions during class and especially during office hours. Show up to class and pay attention. Do the homework and practice the problems from class again outside of class. Totally passable class if you put in effort!
This is an upper division class people! Meaning information is not going to be delivered to you on a silver platter. Put in effort! Do not miss class, pay attention, and ask questions! Dr. Taylor is willing to work with students if you put in the initiative. I honestly learned a lot and know Ill be utilizing the skills learned the real world!
DA is is not supposed to be easy, but Dr. Taylor actually make it very understandable and I got a solid grade on my second exam. Most of our class way-WAY over thought the final 'project', keep it simple and you'll get it. MyStatLab was an absolute repetitive pain and didn't teach me anything, so come to class and take good notes! Awesome prof!
The class is difficult but you have to work for it. Put in extra work&study ahead of time. Topic can get confusing so read, research&ask the professor for help. Do well on 1st exam bc it's easier than 2nd. He is nice but if you get on his nerve, he will be rude. Final optional but I took to avg out w/ 2nd exam only&was exactly the same as 2nd exam.
Basically, this is a class that you need to work on. It's applied statistics in a business setting. Practice tests are given a week before the exam, and you should study those religiously because the test material is usually based on the practice. TAKE GOOD NOTES! Write down the examples he gives you because those will be the reference points.
DS is a hard subject by nature, but professor does good job at explaining "big picture" items followed by detailed examples. Brush up on stat 1 skills and pay attention to review in beginning of course. Difficult material; consistently worked hard to get an above passing grade. Take advantage of office hours and ask questions/ get tutoring early.
I was originally optimistic about this professor, but unfortunately, after the two week deadline to drop passed, I realized that he was unhelpful. Multiple times I went to his office hours to ask for help, but he would look and talk to me like i was a complete idiot. This professor is not helpful, not organized, too smart for you & unhelpful..
He explains things well in class multiple times to make sure everyone understands. Homework is very straight forward if you paid attention in class with unlimited attempts. Provides thorough study guides that make taking the test a breeze.
Im so glad I took Taylor for DS101! He knows his stuff and is always willing to help you out in office hours. Online HW, 2 exams and an optional final. Try to phrase things in the same way he does for exams- take good notes! He gives out old exams and study guides that are almost identical to the new exams, so there are no surprises.
Passing this class is not very difficult if you complete the homework. Conceptually if you struggle with using computers this class is not for you. Come to every class because if you miss you get behind fast. The pro for this class is that his study guide is identical to his exam questions. Memorize the vocab terms based on his wording not googles!
Dr Taylor is a pretty intelligent guy; however, he will ask for things on his exams during lecture that are not asked for explicitly on the exam itself, so if you're a literal person, your grade WILL suffer. He uses very specific language for the vocabulary that he's picky about, yet asks you to focus on the bigger picture. Overall mixed feelings..
Do the online homework, ask questions if you don't understand, pay attention, and work hard. He's a tough teacher, he knows the material very well, but doesn't make it super easy to understand. really focus on the "big picture" as he says and why you use certain methods. He's tough but if you understand the material you shouldn't do too bad.
This class would be understandable and a great class, if there was more help understanding the software :JMP I've never used JMP before, neither was I taught in this class so it made it almost impossible to complete all homework assignments. If you plan to pass, study groups are recommended and make sure to pop in on every teacher work hours.
Makes the subject very interesting-class goes by quickly. Pay attention to lectures/exam study guides. Would give a higher rating if he spent 5-10min more preparing us for the homework before it is assigned, would save A LOT of frustration w/the more difficult problems. Allow plenty of time for this course, and make study friends-its a tough one.
Professor Taylor is an engaging professor and loves to teach his students. He understands that students have not taken stats in a while and is very accommodating for that. DS101 is not an easy class so don't expect to get an A easily. Be sure to work hard! Ask questions and you'll be fine!
This professor is very unorganized and unprofessional. Avoid at all cost.
His test consists of more verbal explanation of the subject. If you take exactly what he says verbatim during exam reviews you will do very well on the exams. Final is optional, so make sure you do well on the first 2 exams.
At first I was very worried about this professor but he ended up being a solid choice. He is very fair and gives you many chances to raise up your grade with HW which you have unlimited tries on. It's a pain to do the HW but it's worth it. PAY ATTENTION to his study guide lecture. It's everything that will be exactly on his exams.
This professor is very unorganized. You don't know what chapter of the book he is covering any day of the class.
I took him a few years ago and passed with just a C-, but retook DS101 with another professor and got an A. I never regretted taking Taylor's class. He is fair and teaches well. If you want an easy A, it won't happen. But in your future classes the forecasting techniques and various regressions he teaches will give you an advantage over others.
Taylor is an amazing professor. He gives HW on MyStat Lab, but there is a "help me solve this" button which really helped me get through the problems easily. He gave study guides that were identical to the 2 exams and allows cheatsheet. He gives partial credit for minor mistakes on the exams if you go see him during office hours. Final is optional.
Homework was online and repeatable. There were 2 exams plus the final, but the final was optional if you were happy with your grade. I missed 30% of class and didn't read the book but did all of the homework. He wanted everyone to pass and went out of his way to ensure that you understood the material. Study guides and sessions were provided.
Do the homework and go to class. You can retake the homework and quiz multiple times. Make sure to write down all the commands for JMP. He allows a cheat sheet for the computer portion and his study guides are very straight forward. There are two exams and the final is optional.
Pretty solid professor, one of the few that cares how you do and learn from the class. He is very respectful and as long as you do all the homework on My Stat Lab you should be good. His study guides mirror the exams almost to the t. The final is also optional so do well in the beginning to set yourself up to not take the final.
This professor assign a lot of homework but his class is very interesting. The material is hard but if you attend class and do the HW, you will do fine in this class. If you miss a lot of class, this is not your professor. If you like your grade after 2nd exam, you do not have to take final. Many people fail all because they give no effort.
Professor Taylor teaches a subject that is difficult in nature but he provides the necessary tools to navigate your way throught it. If you are not willing to study or put in effort outside of class you will not pass.
Took it in the summer modified workload, nice and easy, not too much. Only 2 written exams, EACH worth 15% of the grade. The course uses JMP, which I had never used before but his lectures guide you through how to solve the problems using JMP. I got rounded up to a C, I missed the midterm and didn't try my best tbh, great professor though.
LITERALLY DOES NOT TEACH YOU BE PREPARED TO TEACH YOURSELF PROF EXPECTS YOU TO TRY HOMEWORK BEFORE HE TEACHES YOU ANYTHING! LECTURES ARE FOR "QUESTIONS" IF THERE ARE NO QUESTIONS ABOUT THE HOMEWORK THEN THERE IS NO LECTURE THATS IT.
most disorganized professor Ive ever had. He expects you to either just know the material or teach yourself it and what he does teach you in class has nothing to do with the homework. He will go over a formula with the exception of you just knowing it even if it's the first time you're seeing it. He made this class way harder than it has to be
Actually the worst professor I have had. Does not lecture during class time. Does not care if students pass or fail. Can I give him a negative score?
Genuinely the worst teacher I have ever had. Makes you feel stupid for asking questions. Doesn't teach anything and expects you to learn it. Lectures were essentially a Q&A session where he complains when he gets asked questions (about things he never taught in the first place). The class is passable, but I wouldn't recommend him at all.
idk if he's coming back because he was replaced after our first exam. But he was so confusing, didn't really show good instructions for JMP, and I had to learn everything from the book. The exam was half stuff he "lectured on" which you had to sift through gibberish to find and the other half was homework questions. he left after he called us dumb
The worst Professor Ive had in my life. He was extremely unclear, disrespectful and not fit to teach. It was clear he was unfamiliar with technology despite this being an online course. He never taught subjects or went over chapters in class. He was replaced half way through the semester because of some things he said. Stay safe and try to avoid!
Dr. Taylor teaches in a clear and easy to understand manner if you are interested in learning.
