Class is very hard, be prepared to brief lots of cases. But she keeps it interesting, and you will actually learn a thing or two. Don't take her if you want to slack off though!

This was a hard class, lots of work, but possibly one of the best in my college career. I learned a lot, and I don't think it would have stuck without briefing all the cases. Take this class if you're not afraid to work hard for the rewards.

She is strict on attendance. You must apply yourself and study the material-know it backwards and foward! A great professor with a plethora of knowledge.

Great Professor. She is very intellegent, and one of the funniest teachers that I have had. I had her for 2 classes, and wish I could take more. She is tough, lots of work, but well worth the effort. She really cares about the students, and would stay after class to help or talk to you.

Very helpful and works the class HARD but you learn lots. Don't take this class unless you are ready to put in lots of hours. Don't be afraid to go to office hours. She is strict about being prepared but she is always willing to answer e-mails and explain legal concepts.

Her classes are hard as hell, but you really learn a lot. For any business professional, knowing labor law is essential and you will certainly learn your stuff in her classes. She is also always willing to help out her students. Great class.

Very helpful and notes are very clear and straightforward. Class is hard, but I learned a lot! Exams are difficult, but if you do all of the cases you'll do just fine. She has a weird sense of humor, so it's not too boring.

This class is by no means easy. Prof Swift really explains the concepts so that you'll understand them. Don't take it if you're not willing to go to class everyday and be prepared!!

Prof Swift is what a professor should be. She knows what she is teaching, makes the class interesting, clear, and really wants you to learn the material. Yes the course is challenging (lots of material), but if you come to class everyday, read the material, and do your cases - you'll really learn!

She is SO incredibly hard!! If you think that you can skate by in this class you are sadly mistaken. You do learn a lot in this class but the homework takes forever. Be prepared to put forth a lot of effort to get a decent grade in her class.

I have worked for years but it was well worth my time to take this class for my MBA. I started using the information right away as a supervisor. You work hard but you also laugh hard.

This is possibly the most interesting class offered in the business school. You will work hard and really leave the class understanding what Star was teaching. All work is done in groups and Star guides you every step of the way!

Don't take this class unless you need it for your major. I made that mistake! Lots of case summaries and exams were very tough. I studied my butt off for a B and never missed one class. Although I learned more than any other class I've taken at GV. She's a really good prof

I was nervous about taking a class related to law, but after the first few weeks, it was easy to see she cares about what she does and knows what she is talking about. In the end I aced the class, she elected me her favorite student and gave me a jersey that her dog either peed on or wore, I can't remember which :)

One of the best classes I've ever taken! Intimidating at first but so helpful! Almost dropped after reading sylabus but deffinately worth staying in it!

Very intensive class, be ready to work harder for this class more than ANY other, BUT, if you want to walk away with a wealth of knowledge about HR specialties like Arbitration and Collective Bargaining, take this class. I certainly feel ready to impress my profs in grad school because of her.

Brilliant, funny, tough. One ofvery few profs who uses lots of technology and truly knows the field she teaches. Do not take if you do not want too work harder than any college class. Too much work for me. My lowest grade ever!

I am blown away by Star. Amazing professor at Grand Valley. By far my favorite and I've been here a while. I will dearly miss her and her wealth of knowledge as I move on to grad school. Please take Star! NO PAPER IN CLASS! EVER

Star is INCREDIBLE. My favorite professor hands down. Im going to miss her quirkiness and fun in class. Do your work though, otherwise you'll be so behind, you'll have no choice but to drop the course. Def not a freshman class!

The funniest woman I have ever had the privilege to know. Extremely knowledgeable in more than just her field. Stories to tell home about. Hard but very rewarding. Planning on taking two more of her classes. No paper ever used!! Makes you feel apart of your learning process and she truly listens to your opinion on cases.

Swift is one of the best professors I have ever had. She makes the class fun and you learn a lot. If you are not interested in participating, the subject of the class or working hard this class is NOT for you. If you want to actually learn TAKE Swift! Also she puts everything online so no textbook is required which is nice.

She is hard but you learn a lot! You will work harder than any other class but the time goes by quick. No paper allowed in class and you can meet with by ooVoo instead of going to her office. You have GOT to see her office. It says so much about Swift. Scary smart lady but she can make you laugh too. Her board drawings are terrible! Text is DB.

Get ready to work like you never have before. No textbook. Only Dropbox and oovoo. Huge arbitration and CBA project. Teaches class like a grad school class, and really prepares you for grad school!

The best professor I have ever had. Classes are very interactive and she listens to all opinions since she understands that there are different ways to interpret the law. Challenging, but incredibly rewarding. If you have to take this class, take it with Swift.

Makes you work but it is worth the time. Class goes by fast and she is very funny. When she makes a mistake she talks about it with the class. She is different but in a cool way not a weird way. Will take her again. Learned lots.

Professor Swift goes above and beyond. While the classes are extremely hard you will do fine if you do the reading and pay attention. She will make it very interesting. Be prepared to try new things! She will embrace new technology and bring it into the classroom. This is the best professor I have ever taken at GVSU. Great job!

She is passionate and she works towards making her classes technologically advanced, and it was not an easy A. However, you will learn a lot. There was not a textbook, everything was done through a computer and her sarcasm and humor made learning about law enjoyable. Loved her.

I am senior and have three classes to go to graduate. I have never met such a great prof. @ GVSU. No text, test are based on purely lectures. Put in some effort, you will get a straight A. I am a family man, with full time job and was able to get an A. Prof Swift understands students workload. Great prof. to take... I love prof. Very professional

First part of class we met 2x per week. Then we voted to go hybrid. one day of lecture one day of week no class & she gave us written notes and audio to go with them. worked great for me. she does in class quizzes for no credit to let us see our progress. she answers oovoo text quick. class gpa b. Her fav term no worries. DB for text free.

This class is very applied. You work in teams. Very little lecture. Lots of real world experience. Like you negotiate a full contract. You investigate a bad employee. NO textbook but uses Drobox and ooVoo. i wish i had asked her for help before i did. she is glad to explain stuff.

Our class met at Blue 35 and used the new Bluescape. It is this huge wall that allows you to put up info on the wall and on your computer screen. The class went fast but I learned so much. Bluescape allows you to the the see whole picture by the end of the class. Swift works hard to provide tech with legal studies. Lucky us.

Prof Swift is one of the best instructors I have had in my time at Grand Valley. This course is difficult and time consuming, but she is more than willing to help if you ask. Uses Dropbox for everything and Oovoo for communication.

I took MGT 334 as an online class. Professor Swift is a great professor and doesn't waste your time with busy work. The class is focused on learning and pushing yourself. I highly recommend her as a professor.

You actually arbitrate a case and negotiate a contract. She has lots of real world experience so that helps. Would take again but graduating.

People say Swift is tough but it's not that bad. Just keep up and listen to the lectures and you will be OK. She is funny yet she expects you to be prepared. She uses a lot more tech than most profs but that helps you too. I will take her for arbitration because she talks about it ALL the time but also because I heard it is hands on totally.

I had her for 432. All practical hands on stuff. Unusual to have a prof who let's you actually prepare and do an arbitration in class. Or negotiate an employment contract where you research wages and sit across a bargaining table. I wish I took her for 334. It was fun but I learned a ton.

Star Swift is my all-time favorite professor at GVSU and choosing her as a professor is a no-brainer. Slackers beware.

Swift is very passionate about law, and this passion is very infectious. Rather than lecturing us, class is generally a discussion, and everyone is expected to actively participate. Rather than a textbook, she organized news articles and other sources to effectively teach the material. If you participate and work hard, you will earn her respect.

Star Swift is a wonderful professor that goes above and beyond for all students who are willing to put in the effort. You knew exactly what was expected of you on the test and she has a lot of great experiences and knowledge to share. She is well respected in the business field and has many connections to help students with. Plus she's a hoot.

TESTS ARE TOUGH, but she allows an index card so that's helpful. She is very clear about her expectations on tests and that's very appreciated! Her notes/youtube videos are extremely helpful in understanding the materials as well. Be familiar with each case and definitely watch the movies, they're always on the test. She's a prof who cares!

She is great. A lot of outside work, but never graded or turned in. Very interesting class and you really learn the material.

Take her if there is room in the class and you have the time to study. Not much lecture mostly practical work that you would need to know for any job in management of employees. She does not waste your time.

Professor Swift is among the best professors I have ever had. We used the Bluescape cloud program for our online class portion, but it was very easy to use and straight forward. She is incredibly knowledgeable and has so much working experience and stories to contribute. It was a difficult class, but the work was engaging and interesting.

Uses Bluescape. Also lightboard lectures for review of material. Funny. Honest. Hates to waste time - ours or hers. Knows we all have jobs. Will take Swift for hybrid 432. Up to date reading and video but no text. I learned a ton.

Took hybrid as freshman and it was night class. Wish she had day class once per week. Now she does. Good grade but did lots of reading. She makes up free text. Read it. If you get the chance take her class. You will be ok if you read her stuff. We all laughed lots. Made me think about stuff I can use once I decide on major

Really good class. You do not have to buy a book. The work load is totally accessible. There are just a few assignments though, so not there is not a lot of room to mess up.

I took the honors section and it was a ton of work, but I think that should be expected with an honors class. Super knowledgable lady and she's always there to answer any questions. Exams are tough, but again, in an honors course you should expect that. All in all she was super cool and I really liked her class!

She is great. The grading scale is rough and you better start out strong from the start. I really enjoyed having her as a teacher but, I didn't get the grade I wanted. She is more like a boss then a teacher. Great person though. Highly recommend her.

Uses Bluescape instead of Blackboard. So you need to learn new tech but not really youth. It's a hybrid class so do NOY miss the one day per week it meets. Reading you must do on your own will be on ex.m.

It is a hybrid so she expects you to read material from her websites before class. A lot of students do nothing before class. But they think Swift is going to lecture on it in class. She doesn't. So group work is tough. Plus everybody works so they claim they cannot meet after class. I did most of the work for my group and learned a ton.

It was an honors law class. It was also hybrid. My online classes were never this hard. Way up to date cases. Lots of reading but I let myself get behind. I learned to arrange my time because you have to keep up. High school online was easy for me and I Googled the exams. I needed to study for Swift. But I did ok. Just not high school at all.

Honestly, the class was whatever. I didn't do much of the work but passed perfectly fine. The tests were difficult but if you put forth the effort in studying before it, you'll actually do fine. The class used Bluescape, which was cool. I actually just love her as a person, she's hilarious and really relatable.

Despite the difficulty of the BUS201 class, Star Swift is my absolute favorite professor. She's reasonable, helpful, and one of the funniest people I've met. Her lectures include examples from her personal experience, and they make understanding the material much easier.

Hybrid class so we met once per week. She uses a thing called Bluescape so you can see videos, notes, other stuff all on a virtual wall. She is good about giving class very recent cases. You have to do the work or it shows in your grade but the work is not too much. Thing I learned is half the class time does not mean half the work.

We arbitrated case in front of a real arbitrator. Swift walks you through each step but she is not happy if you do not read and watch videos. The workload is not crazy but if you have a bad team be ready to do a lot of work on your own. Liked Swift. Totally applied class.

She grades you on quizzes, a presentation, and exams. You have to keep up with the reading and you will do OK. At first, I just skimmed the reading and learned the hard way, from my quiz score, to read the stuff carefully. I am going to med school but I wish I took this class earlier. Everybody should know this stuff for their work life.

I took Swift's hybrid class, and it was one of my favorites. She may seem intimidating at first, but Swift is an awesome professor who knows what she's teaching. Don't procrastinate the work until before class, and if you don't know the material, don't try to pretend you do. I learned so much from her that I'll be able to apply to my career.

Swift is one of the best profs I have had so far. The amount of knowledge I have learned in this class is incredible & is also very applicable to the real world. I took the class as a hybrid so we met once a week. Lots of cases to read which will be on pop quizzes, also likes to call on random people so be prepared to answer questions on cases.

Swift integrates technology into her classes more than most professors. So be open to learning the law and new tech. Brilliant and funny. I will take her again if I can get into her class.

Professor Swift is an amazing professor. She is very caring in addition to being extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the law. She has a great sense of humor and makes the lectures very entertaining. Due to this being a hybrid course, there is a lot of reading assigned for outside of class, which you will be asked questions about.
