His class is very interesting, the most interesting history class I've had. He is a very chill professor. He posts terms on blackboard that will be on a test and only half or less are on the test. Most of the terms come from lecture notes and the rest(which are a few) come from the book which you need. I highly recommend this class.
Perfect teacher for History :D, however the term paper is the biggest concern for most the student. overall, he's perfect. his lectures are capturing and interesting. Love him
Interesting class; professor is a good storyteller and shows video clips frequently. Note: read the textbook, even though you won't hear much about in class! The tests are based on both lecture and textbook. Note: start term project early!
Pffft worse professor ever the guy is the worse attended every class and took down all lecture notes and they weren't even on the test it all based on the reading. It better not to show up since his lectures have nothing to do with test or final. This a teach yourself class so yeah and plus the paper sucks. Idk y people say he the best he sucks!
Worse Professor ever people ramble on and on how great he is well he the worse prof CSUF has to offer. His lectures are pointless since it nothing to do with test. All done from READING. Second Term paper is the worse and his final is 5 essays question. Honest to god this guy should just die worse professor ever.
eh not the best professor but not the worse either. His class was okay but be aware that reading is required class is good but his final and paper kill! test isn't important since it only worth 20 percent. This guy in my opinion sucks i agree with the two guys below me. IDK why i took this class :(
This guy is a great teacher. Though on the study guides he will give you more than is on the test, just to learn. But it's alright. He is clear and a gentle teacher to approach if you have questions. Shows video clips that made the class interesting. Just show up and read some sections of the book and you are good for the test. Good speaking voice.
Did not like the style of this class and found the professor rather unapproachable. The final is brutal, 5 essays in one sitting. Would not take him again.
He doesn't utilize outlines of any sort, so if you're not an auditory learner, you should opt out. He tends to focus on the most irrelevant details, information that hardly correlates with the textbook. The term paper instructions are vague, as are his overall expectations. He's just awfully incompetent. I would never recommend this class. :)
He's an exceptional speaker and his exams are multiple choice and 20-25 questions. He never puts anything on the exams that aren't on the study guide. The term paper was the hardest thing for me, so start it as soon as possible. You can show up late but don't walk in front of him or he'll get really mad. Same goes for repeating questions.
Stefan is an overall good teacher. His tests are really easy as he gives study guides prior to the test and everything we need to know are on the study guides. I barely even had to read until I had the study guide. His final is a bit hard (5 essays) but if you pay attention in class you should be fine. The only bad thing is the paper which is 20%
He's cool. He isn't the greatest, but if you take notes and do the review guide at least a week before the test then you should be good. The term paper was confusing and he wasn't real clear so make sure you get on that quick. His final seemed easy, but that's only if you payed attention. I just like stories, and he's a really good storyteller.
Good storyteller, easy tests but long study guides. He is a great lecturer and not too bad on the eyes.
He's really good at telling the stories, and he makes it sound interesting. It does get a little difficult because it's all auditory. Make sure you take really good notes. The study guides he gives are super long so it's hard to know what you need to study. He's a nice guy and kind of attractive.
I personally loved him as a professor. Everything he tells you in class will be on the test so make sure you take notes. He talks slow so everyone can keep up and will answer all questions. He's very approachable and very good looking. I plan on taking him again and would recommend him to anyone!
Good lectures, dreadful tests. First 75 pts are during the semester, 3 non cumulative tests. Remaining 125 in the last week: final and term paper. Makes it scary bc you can't ever really determine what your grade will be. Shows little interest in Student's grades. Make sure you are taking good notes and CONSTANTLY reviewing them. Don't take class
Great teacher and very approachable. I bought the book and never opened it and I got an A in the class and perfect scores on all the tests. The final makes your hand hurt other than that its pretty easy. Term paper is daunting but I started the night before and got an A so I'm assuming he isn't that hard of a grader. If you fail, you're a jackass.
easy class, show up because most of the stuff on the tests are from lectures. his study guides are very straight forward and what's on the guide ends up on the test, you can be sure of that. interesting lectures, good sense of humor, knows what he's talking about. very laid back guy
The best part of the class was he was hot. Other than that, I would not recommend taking him as a professor. There is only the tests, final, midterm, and the essay towards the grades. So if you bomb one test, it will be impossible to even out. Reading is mandatory, he doesn't check, but its on ALL of the tests.
3 Tests, midterm, paper, and and a final. You should read the book to ace the test and know everything on the final
He does not take attendance but going to class will help you! make sure you do the study guides and read. Sit in front of class and it will not seem boring. He is very helpful!
super easy class. Make sure to attend every class, even though he doesn't take attendance, everything from lectures will help on the exam. The hardest thing is the midterm because its not multiple choice and the final because there are 5 essay questions (one page per essay). Besides that, exams are extremely easy and straight forward.
Awesome class and he makes history interesting. His tests are hard and dont under study you will regret it. Final sounds hard but the format makes it easy and the midterm is super hard. You will fail if you dont attend class or study his study guide.
This class was easy. He's a great professor and lectures history like a storyteller. Also, study hard for the tests and do well on the term paper. Both the term paper and the final exam could lift your grade up.
History is boring but he made it very interesting. Cool guy, lectures are more of stories and very intriguing. Don't buy the book, but lectures are mandatory to pass because its identical to tests. 3 tests. 1 final. 1 paper. No homework. Highly recommend.
I did not like this class at all. I prefer Mark Walia, personally. I asked him for advice on what should my term paper should be about and he says 'it has to be about anything before 2013', like that really helped. Lectures were cool, but the stuff he said wasn't even on the test, so you have to buy the textbook. -Good luck!
Great professor. I have never took interest in history, but this p guy MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH IT. He lectures as if it's storytelling time lol. I took his 8AM class and it was a good experience. His exams are straightforward. Just (briefly) read and study your notes.. Pay attention and you will, most certainly, do well.
Great Professor! Lecture seems plain at first but they are interesting and all up to your notes. Take detailed notes. He is very knowledgeable and at times funny. Has 1 test (multi choice) , 1 midterm , 1 paper (easy) and 1 final (easy). Made material memorable. and very handsome!!
You might learn a bit but don't expect to get a good grade unless you dedicate your entire semester mostly to this class. The lectures are somewhat interesting, but mostly meaningless as the tests hardly cover the material. The textbook doesn't help that much either. The tests are ridiculous. This class was a grim, meaningless experience.
I cant believe this is a 100 level class. His multiple choice tests are extremely difficult and the paper at the end of the semester is unncessary for a 100 level class. As a sophomore taking this class I have a low C although I read AND take notes on the readings in addition to his lecture notes. Most of his lecture is useless..
he's a good teacher kinda tough but the lectures are interesting, he's pretty clear and will help you if you need
This professor is straight forward. His lectures are old school-it's all auditory so make sure you write really good notes. His class is 200 points so if you don't pass an exam, it'll be really hard to raise your grade. His midterm was really hard and his final was essay format. Those were by far the toughest . If you attend and study, you'll pass.
This class is mandatory. His lectures are auditory, long, and dry. The class was consisted of two exams, a midterm, written final exam, and a term paper. The exams involves with a lot of memorization. I recommend taking this class with a friend. His exams are not easy, so study hard. If you put your utmost effort you will surely pass the class.
Loved this professor! Usually hate lecture classes but he made everything sound so interesting and made it easy to take notes. Attending class is crucial to know the material. Grade is based off midterm, research paper, and final. All of which are not too bad. Received an A & would definitely take another one of his classes.
Love this class! I fell in love with history because of this class, teaches in a storytelling way so it makes it more interesting. You don't need the 2 books, I got them but never open or used them the entire semester. The test are easy if you study, multiple choice exam, midterm that is fill in the blanks, and final essay exam. Also, 1 paper.
I loved this class. If you take his 3 hour class though it's pretty long and he never lets the class out early. Attendance isn't required but go to every class for the notes because it's crucial for exams and the final. The exams are pretty easy they are pretty much like quizzes and are only about 20 questions. Don't buy sources you won't need it.
He is an incredible lecturer and although lectures are long you won't be bored. He makes a dull subject very interesting and his history channel like narrations makes super awesome. You will have 2 non cumulative tests(multiple c), a midterm (fill in the blanks & short answer) and a 5 essay final. Also you will write a term paper. Awesome Prof!!!
He made you work for your grade, although his lectures are tough to keep up with. You'll enjoy this class (if you're an auditory learner) you'll learn a lot! 2 "quizzes" a midterm and and final along with a 5 page paper. Awesome professor!
Best class & professor. He's very knowledgeable. I learned so much about Greek, Roman, Chinese, and Incan History... You have to really study hard. There is too much info & so little time. There are 3 tests 1st test is easy peasy and the two remaining tests are super hard. Overall, despite the fact that the course was hard, I loved it!
hard if you don't come to class
This guy is awesome. I remember taking this guy years ago and he's one of the only professors that I still remember easily. I never liked coming to any of my classes my Freshman year, but his lectures MADE me want to come and listen. Highly recommended.
Great class!! Awesome professor. You must show up to class however or else you will not pass the class. Textbooks are needed more for the midterm. That's about it. Makes it easy to take notes. Would take again!!!
Prof. Chrissanthos was really nice and very willing to meet and answer any questions. 3 tests primarily on the readings, 2 2-page papers, 3 short presentations and 1 10-page term paper (only worth 10% of your grade). Classes don't meet every session so you can talk to him one-on-one. *we were the guinea pig class, so he may change things up.
Amazing lectures he does them all by memory (at a pace that's easy to take notes and u can ask questions)and tells them like stories, each class is a different time period. My grade got messed up and he stayed in touch for 4 months after the semester ended to make sure my grade was fixed!
Love this professor. he tells the lectures BY MEMORY and tells it like a story it's amazing. He messed up by grade on the paper and spent so much time helping me fix it. I went to class everyday and you cover one century (or so) every day. i struggled with the tests because they are pretty specific.
One of the only classes I looked forward to attending. The only homework was reading from the source book and textbook. Since there is a ton of information that we have to learn in just one semester, he cannot go over everything so you MUST read.
Very nice and chill guy. I like the pace of this lectures as they are easy to follow and not confusing like other profs. Essay is not due until the near the end of semester. You DON'T need to buy the sources book unless you want to use it for the essay.
Holy this guy should have a 5-pt rating tbh. I love going to his lectures after a long day of accounting /cough/hatton.. He is the perfect storyteller, you actually feel like you're experiencing events first hand. Very approachable, exams are easy if you study(not that hard or time consuming). Dont leave the paper last min, its a pain lol great guy
Amazing professor!!! Makes you want to come to class. His lectures are very clear and are done in a way you are able to easily copy down into your notes, as well as remember for exams. Very approachable and is willing to help you. As attendance is not mandatory, coming to class is a MUST to pass. Would take again. Makes history enjoyable!
This class was okay. 2 Quizzes (25 pnts -mult choice),1 Midterm(50 points all fill in), 1 research paper(5 pages-50 points ), and the Final( 100 points - 5 page essay).Does give great lectures. The class is challenging. Class is only 250 points and half the questions on the tests are in the book. You have to work very hard for a 100 level GE Class.
He is straight forward with his class and somewhat funny. His lectures are basically all the notes that you need. If you just want to get by then get someone else's notes and don't read like I did.
History is not one of my strongest subjects so I was a bit nervous for this class. Going to class is mandatory to do well on tests for the lectures are basically everything you need to know for tests. Study your notes & you will do more than fine. No hw. I would totally advise everyone to take this class. Dr. Chrissanthos is extremely passionate!
While his lectures were interesting, the 3 tests do not seem related to much of that info. Your only grades are 3 tests (1 midterm included), a term paper, and a final. You basically need to memorize pages and pages of information to pass because his questions are so specific and seemingly random. Very difficult for non-history majors.
lectures are story's lengthy/interesting TAKE NOTES of everything! Theres 1 paper at end MUST DO don't procrastinate you will get stressed out, study well for test on study guide, midterm is harder but was mostly about 1st half good notes and review them you'll be good to go! btw he color codes whats on the board he forgot to tell us till the end
2 tests (25Qs), 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 essays to write. You should show up his class and take notes. He does not have ppt. He teaches verbally. Good luck..
Even though I passed this class with a high A, this prof requires a lot of work for a lvl 100. 2 Exams(25 qs), 1 midterm(fill in the blank), 1 final(5/8 essay qs, 1 pg each), 1 paper(5-7pg). USE YOUR STUDY GUIDE! Half of the material on test are on your notes and book. If you cant find some terms on the study guides from your notes, use your book!
If you do your readings then this class will be an easy A. You do not have to read everything, just read the portion that is listed on his study guides and you'll be pass with an A. 2 Exams that were multiple choice(half on book¬e). His midterm was fill in the blank(use study guide). Final was 5 pg essay, 5/8 qs, 1pg each, mainly from lectures.
Graded only by a couple quizzes, a midterm and a final. Read the book if you want. Good lectures but boring and dry personality. There's better professors to chose from. Don't agree with the comments about him being amazing and worth coming to class for.
A lot of work required for this class. There's other professors who don't require as much and you won't have to put up with this professor. He sucks when it comes to grading, never puts anything in the grade book and overall isn't worth it.
There are better 110A professors. This class wasn't worth it by the way your grade is made up. Choose another professor.
U wont know ur grade till the semester is over. never updates anything. dont know how this professor has a 4 on here and disagree w the comments on here about how amazing he is. hes not so just pick another professor or waste ur time
No homework but test heavy, and he wont post all the grade until the end of the semester. Have to pay attention every minute in the class. Not recommend.
He is amazing. you actually learn the material, not forced to memorize and then its forgotten the next day. I believe the reason for that is the way he teaches. He teaches by story telling so you feel like your going through history itself. IM actually taking him for 110b and i cant wait.
His lectures are ok but his tests are harder. The tests are so specific and the paper is a pain. Friends have had other history professors that sound better than this one. only took this professor because the other classes were full and my grade paid for it
Very hard class, the professor reads notes to you in class and you have to write it down. Have to focus really hard in class. Almost all the things on the quiz are in his lecture notes. Midterm and final tests are in the form of paragraphs. No homework but there is a paper due by the end of the semester. I would not recommend him.
This professor is probably the best professor I've ever had, lectures are basically stories, which makes everything interesting and easy to remember. Have to take notes, almost everything he says but he does it in a way that makes it very easy to keep up. No homework, 2 tests, 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 paper. Not an easy class but definitely worth it
He's a really great and nice professor, but this class is unusually hard for this level. There is no homework so your grade is entirely made up of 4 tests and 1 research paper. If you're not good at history, I wouldn't recommend this class to you. I'm sure there are easier professors out there that you can take.
this class requires a lot for this kind of class. lectures are good but so many specific details for tests make it hard and the 5 page paper sucks. doesnt put in any of the grades so u wont know your grade at all until the end. cares a lot about names and dates whereas other profs dont and want u to just understand what happened. pick different
Everything you need to know is on the syllabus. He answers emails pretty fast and is helpful. Very lecture heavy. Does not take attendance. Super into history. Decently funny. Pretty chill, has movie days for extra credit on tests so go. Chile pepper....
This professor is the worst professor I've taken so far at Cal State Fullerton. He is very rude and when you ask questions in class he responds with a sarcastic answer rather than helping you out. He is very knowledgeable and conducts his lectures very well. He is not helpful outside of class and you are basically on your own.
He's amazing!!! Best lectures ever, made me love history!! He's funny and amazing at telling stories, makes history interesting, you'll learn a lot from this class. Not easy but worth it. I really want to take his class again! He's so great
Professor Chrissanthos is amazing at what he does. I truly felt eager to attend every class, and could not skip a single one because of how much I loved it. What a concept. I'm no history buff, yet I found every lecture to be very interesting, especially because of how professor Chrissanthos teaches. 4 tests, 1 essay. Wish I could take him again!
Not the best but you learn the material. Even if you know the material tests will prove challenging. There is no curve, take a different class if you are looking to maintain a decent gpa. Im at straight A student and sadly this class will most likely ruin that trend, unable to know because he does not enter grades.
Professor Chrissanthos is a great lecturer, he makes history somewhat fun even if you don't like it. It's a plus he's good looking, but beware he can be rude. The thing that sucks is that there's only a few things your grade is based on. The exams are somewhat difficult, make sure to STUDY.
this professor is one of the worst I've ever taken. he doesn't input grades, answers questions sarcastically, and the tests are hard for being a 100 level class. he doesn't grade the final papers, he just has you upload the paper into turnitin and gives you a grade based on the percentage of plagiarism. avoid him and choose a better professor!
He gave 2 tests, a midterm, a final, and a semester paper. His lectures were interesting but it was a lot of information to study for. He never posted grades however so I had no idea what I had until the end of the semester. Never read so I did struggle a little on exams. If you're willing to put in the time, take him.
If you're not a fan of history you won't be a fan of this class, however if you do enjoy history this class can be very enlightening. Write down everything he says, absolutely everything! He lectures in a way that makes it easy to do. Don't buy the sources book. Study nights are intense. Study everything. Do NOT wait until the last minute!!
If you have trouble staying awake in class, DO NOT take this course. He turns off the lights and lectures for the entire class period. You're only graded by 4 tests and 1 paper. 2 of them are quizzes and the midterm and final are cumulative. Lectures were good but information was heavy. Suggest getting the book to help study all the terms.
He gives awesome lectures and knows his stuff!! He slows dow to make sure all students are on track.
A good teacher & knows his stuff. I was not a fan of history but this class made me. It's a big story time in his class, BUT WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING HE SAYS IN LECTURES. GRADED BY A 4 EXAMS SO MAKE SURE TO STUDY. STUDY NIGHTS ARE INTENSE. HE SAYS YOU DONT NEED TO STUDY THE DATES BUT YOU DO TO PASS THE TESTS. ALL TESTS ARE A KILLER FOR A GE CLASS.
Class is based ON LECTURES. Your hand will literally want to fall off. He jumps around sometimes and it can be VERY confusing when looking back at your notes to study. I don't get why teachers think lecturing only is a good way to get students to learn. All we're doing is struggling to copy down all the info and not even listening sometimes.
he's a good professor if you study. READ, READ, and READ. Read the book and copy down everything he says. He slows down for the class to understand what he was lecturing about. Its an interesting class. Dont take it if you are lazy. There is no homework except one paper and 4 exams.
This is the rudest and most disrespectful professor I have ever met. I am a straight A student and I worked very hard in this class. Just to end with a C!!!!!! I was a student who went to office hours, read, wrote everything down, and studied for days. Its like he gets hard to people struggling in his class. Avoid him.
Write down everything he says. 1 hour and 15 minutes of writing down information. His lectures are really interesting if you are into history. 2 quizzes that were multiple choice, comes mostly from the lectures. 1 midterm that was really hard (fill in the blank). 1 final that was 5 short essay questions. Heavy study nights for every exam and quiz.
One of the chilliest professors you will ever have. His class is all lecture so get ready to write. He goes at a slow pace so it's easy to keep up. No homework except for one paper. I never read the textbook and I got a B but I didn't do so well on a couple of the exams. If you want a higher grade, read! It will be on the tests.
Basically, organize your notes WELL. The class is based off a few exams. Most of which ask pretty specific questions. That being said, start on the study guide that Chrissanthos gives u ASAP. load each term with the important info and study EVERY term. Although this professor is unnecessarily rude, ask questions if u rlly need to.
I took Professor Chrissanthos two different semesters for 110A & B. He has no PowerPoints, but as along as you show up to class and take notes it shouldnt be too bad. 2 tests and 2 exams, all which he gives a study guide for. No homework all semester except for one term paper & the reading assignments. Lectures are very interesting!
All over the place. Study guides and lectures seem straighforward, but the tests ask for things you won't remember going over in lecture. Readings are haphazard and you won't know what to expect, despite what he says. Take good notes and remember them well when you review. Unnecessary amount of work for a base level GE.
All lecture, no powerpoint. He assigns reading but I get by fine without it however, on tests, there are things in the readings that aren't in lectures. He talks slow and with the lights off so you might fall asleep easily. You have to study for tests but they're not too difficult. Lectures are structured like a story almost, making it less painful
The lectures were actually very interesting, just be prepared to copy down everything he says in your notes. And MAKE SURE TO DO THE READINGS based off of the terms he gives you for each test. Kinda tough for a GE class but overall very doable.
Ahh.. Professor Schrisssanthos.. he is cool, chill, and charming professor. My rule is if the class is interesting and fun, I will work hard for getting a good grade. Professor Schrissanthos makes history interesting. His lectures are verbal only. it feels you're experiencing historic events. You do have to memorize, 2 tests, a final, and paper.
I hate history with a passion, but this prof had me interested the whole time. His lectures are verbal only but he goes slow so you can write everything down. His tone is great as well, does not bore you at all. Especially since I took a 7am class. Keeps you interested in the material and the notes you take are helpful. Feels more like storytelling
He is a good profesor. He assigned 4 exams (2 multiple choice exams, 1 open ended exam, and 1 short essay exam), some extra credit, and 1 5-7 page term paper about anything US involved in history from 1619-the current year. He is able to help outside of class but you need to ask because he can't help if you do not ask. EXTRA: cool 49ers fan.
His class feels more like story telling rather than boring lectures. Its better if you take notes on laptop since he speaks fast. 2 quizzes (multiple choice), 1 midterm (written), 1 final (5 short essays) and 1 paper. His multiple choice questions are a bit tricky but he has a helpful study guide. I dont read the textbooks and still got an A
Don't ever take his class. Why? Because his class lecture does not have slides. How can you learn without slides? His study guides and lectures are horrible, I can't spend much time taking notes by listening to him. It is really hard to follow his lecture because he talks way too fast.
This class is easy if you watch his lectures and take notes. Lectures are long and can be boring but I love the way he teaches it, almost like storytelling. There is one term paper but lots of time given and it isn't too heavy. There are a couple quizzes but if you took notes you're good. Final and midterm are written format so kinda hard.
Failed this class. He gives no guidance even though he's genuinely really nice. His lectures are kinda boring and the quizzes, tests and finals are extremely difficult if you don't watch the lectures and actually RETAIN information. There's no hw , 1 paper due at the end of the semester on the topic of your choice. Good class if you like history.
This class is way too difficult. Why? Because his lecture is a storytelling, no slides at all. There are two tests with multiple choice, 1 written exam, 1 term paper, and 1 essay final exam. He makes it hard for you so you can't even pass his class. Trust me, you will be suffer in his class. You need a study group to help you pass his class.
This professor has been really difficult for no reason. If you are planning to take a GE on history. I highly suggested not this teacher because he will give you 1-2 hours lectures with no slides. Test/Quizzes are difficult and very detailed. You need like two-three textbooks for his class which is pretty expensive and a lot to ask for.
This is probably the worst class Ive ever taken. His lectures are super long, with NO SLIDES so its super boring. He makes it super hard to pass his class. He made us write 5 essays in 3 hours for our final, which is impossible. He also doesnt give out extra credit. Would not recommend, and probably wont take this class ever again. So terrible.
This professor is so difficult. His tests are super detailed and specific, and the study guide (which is just a list of terms) is no help at all!!! He literally wants you to write down everything he says in his lectures, and you have to because his tests are very specific. Keep in mind, these lectures are 2-3 hours long. He makes it hard to pass.
This class is too hard to be a GE. GEs shouldnt be this hard, its not a prerequisite. My advice? If youre going to take a history class, dont choose this professor. Unless of course, youd like to watch 3 hours of lecture (no slides), fail all of your tests, and essentially not learn anything because its so boring that you get distracted.
Very detailed professorhe wants you to know very specific things he said in his lectures. Although he responds quickly through emails, he disregards some questions. The study guide for the tests are just terms
I looked forward to his class and I love the way he teaches. I don't get distracted when he is teaching. Overall, great professor I would definitely take his class again.
Not the worst prof, but def not one meant to be teaching 300B. He made us buy 8 different books, then scrapped half of his syllabus because he couldn't stay on track with his lectures, so I wasted a lot of $. Feedback he gave was subpar, and he's a tedious grader. Gave us the rubric like two weeks before a 15 page paper was due. Mediocre at best.
Difficult class to pass because there's nothing to grade. Didn't allow for quiz retake for an excused absence. Subsequently got a C in the class because I wasn't allowed to take the 1 quiz. Terrible grading policy
Professor Chrissanthos is an amazing lecturer! There is not much to go off of credit-wise in the class. All you have are 3 quizzes, one big essay, and an essay final. I won't lie, the essay final is not the easiest thing, it is essentially writing 5 small essays. As long as you study and don't procrastinate on the final essay, you will do fine.
I think this would've been a good class if it wasn't GE. If he did an advanced history class for a small group I think he would shine. I personally did not like his teaching style. The lectures felt very slow and when I'd ask a question he'd respond condescendingly. He was a bad fit for me, and I think this is not the class he should be teaching.
Gives you the outline the day before a lecture so you technically don't have to attend class. doesn't show grades on canvas so you have to do the math urself. a bit boring. gives a 15min break. just make a story out of the lecture. 1 paper. you'll have to use the library which i hated bc of the dewey decimal system. lots of research. 1 textbook
Okay so this class was alright. I mainly got high B and C on the quizzes and tests. I did not read the book at all but relied more on my notes. So make sure to take good notes. You have to study bc they study guides are meh. But the paper was a little difficult not too bad. I honestly do not know how I got an A. Honestly mid professor.
Mannnn I do not mind watching this professor talk. He is not hard on the eyes and could listen to him talk about World War I any dayyyy. Just listen to his lectures and read the book and you'll be fine!
lectures (no slides) would be from 1-3 hours. he's a good storyteller and responds to emails fast. final term paper is 5-7 pages with a lot of specific sources. hard grader for writing and exam time limits are short but open book. final exam is 5 short essays about the whole course. def going to be my lowest grade this yr. not an easy A.
This class is probably the worst class at CSUF. The learning material provided were hour long videos of his face rambling on and on about the subject, like a zoom call. Only 4 things graded, so no chance to raise your grade if you had a 1 bad test. Mind you this is a 100s level course and its this rigorous thats insane. Worse course I've ever taken
Good storyteller but a terrible teacher. Felt more like a class for history majors than a ge class. You would probably spend as much time in this class as you would on your major classes, not to mention the fact that your grade fully depends on the tests. He never tells you what you got wrong on the tests, which just goes to show he cant teach.
Not easy at all for 100 level class. Final is 5 multi-part essay questions with each being 300-400 words.
Avoid at all costs, all I can say.
He's very lecture heavy, has super long lecture videos. No slides or visual aid which can suck if you are a visual learner. There aren't any assignments, you get graded based on the exams (multiple choice+short-answer). 2 exams, 1 midterm, 1 final, and a term paper. Paper requires physical copy and a digital. Changed final review sheet last minute.
Professor Chrissanthos' lectures can feel long, but he's engaging and responds quickly to emails. Use Unstuck study and the textbook to prepare - the exams are tough but doable with effort.
Please don't take this class if you want an easy G.E. You are graded only by exams and one paper. Lectures have no slides so you must follow along with his voice and take notes. There are two exams, one midterm, one final paper, and one final. The final is to write one page long five essays within two hours with pen and paper.
I have never done so much work for a 100 level course. This class is perfect for history majors, but terrible for those that are not. He grades the exams heavily and does not tell you what you did wrong. He does not post on canvas and emails you the videos, assignments, and announcements which you can miss if you have lots of emails.
Overall, his class is pretty decent as long as you watch the video and take some notes during his class. Since I did an online, he provided small study guides, but they weren't that helpful cause it's just the topic name you should study, and you have your midterm, and a paper that's 5-7 pages long at the end of the semester, and then a final.
Great teacher who clearly knew the material inside and out—almost like he was reading it from memory. Lectures were engaging and easy to take notes from. That said, some test questions felt like curveballs not covered directly in lecture. EXTRA CREDIT EXTRA CREDIT EXTRA CREDIT HELPS. He had some for going to Nixon Library. Great experience ngl.
