At first I despised Volpe. Once I figured out how her tests are the class became easier. You will STUDY - A LOT - but all questions come directly from her PowerPoints. Must go to class, you get points for it. She doesn't like people who ask too many questions and will make you scared/embarrassed of asking them. Know when all your quizzes are!!!!!
Professor is strict and keeps to the syllabus. Assessments are difficult. Study Study Study. Lots of extra credit is offered - the extra credit assignments are not easy. Extra Credit presentation opportunities are offered to students who ask interesting questions. Does not curve. No partial credit.
Probably the best professor Ive had thus far. Her lectures are long but informative, she never made a lesson feel overly complicated or boring. Her tests are straight from the PPTs. Id take her for BSC1011 if she taught it.
Makes you feel stupid for asking questions. On one of our exams, 80% of the class failed, so she called us stupid and stopped curving. The only good thing was that our exams were 100 questions and 50 were straight from the quiz. Study the quiz and youll get at least a 50%. Class was from 10 to 11:45 and she lectured until exaxtly 11:45.
made it easy for me to understand an extremely difficult class. I actually liked learning for a change.
Best class ever
Teacher who knows how to teach !!
Teaches clearly with a caring attitude. Makes you use your brain!
Happy to finally learn. She makes it easy. This class was the best. More please
Very passionate about the material. Encourages class discussion and offers alot of extra credit opportunities. Makes learning anatomy easier than most, definitely glad I chose her.
Volpe is an exceptional bio teacher. She allows u to gain extra credit opportunities at every angle. In addition u get 50 questions for ur quizzes n those 50 questions are repeated on each 100 questions u exam u take making it possible for u to pass this class n impossible to fail (making sure u study). she also allows u to really learn biology.
I love this professor! She gives extra credit every chance she can, she has office hours to help if you are struggling, she really motivates students to do more with their lives and then actually aids you down the path you want to go rather than just verbally saying "you can do it". You have to study to pass but if you want to learn then take her.
She offers soo much extra credit that you could pass simply on those points alone. If you don't pass this class then you might want to consider being like a Trump rally security specialist or uhh ya know the Marines are always looking for exceptionally bright candidates.
I took Professor Volpe for both A&P1 and A&P2 (Lectures). She has changed her format but not her teaching, pay attention to the lectures and actually visualize how things work. The extra credit she gave this semester alone was enough to change your grade if needed. She's fantastic, I really couldn't ask for a better teacher.
She was an awesome teacher. I recommend paying attention and asking questions. She makes things very clear and she is a very sweet woman. If she asks you to do a powerpoint based off of questions you asked, do it. It's worth the extra credit points. She gives alot of extra credit.
You do not get to change your answer on homework assignments and cannot even review the right or wrong answer between quizzes which makes getting a good grade very difficult. There is no room for error and I don't believe that is fair when it comes to grading, considering its an online class and you basically have to teach yourself.
I loved prof. Volpe. She gave so much extra credit that I was able to pass with flying colors. But get ready to work for that pass! Shes super fair, if you work you pass. Shes super sweet and understanding. Shes there for you when you need her. I would take her again!
Professor Volpe wants her students to do their best. She has plenty of extra credit opportunities to help buffer a failing grade. The extra credit is not easy but doable. I would recommend her class and this is my second time taking her course. I took AP 1 lecture and lab with her last semester. Best teacher at pbsc
Took Volpe for ap1 lab and lec and it was a doable course. Going to take her for ap2 lec and lab in fall. Would recommend
She teaches this class perfectly. She gives a lot of extra credit and has a solid schedule of lectures all powerpoint, a quiz, student presentations for 2 days, and then your exam. Once you learn a lesson and are tested on it, you will not be tested on it again. She really wants you to pass and succeed. study the powerpoints for your tests and quiz
Professor Volpe wants her students to do well. Everything on the quizzes & exams are from the lecture/powerpoint. She offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. I will be taking her for A&P2, I really enjoyed her class.
Gives lots of extra credit opportunities. You will have to study the PowerPoints she gives you in depth to pass the quizzes. Test are very similar to quizzes but double the questions. Lots of test/quizzes, and four group presentations. Took her for Anatomy and psychology 1 and 2.
She is a great teacher, but her lecture it's a lot. Be prepared for a pop up quiz after every completed chapter, plus the bonus quiz. Her questions in the exam can be very complicated and confusing. 100 questions plus 15-20 questions in the bonus test. No makeup in her class, a lot of extra credit, and be ready for presentations.
Great for an Introduction Lab class. She was super caring, offers some extra credit if you need it, but overall just made an otherwise unbearable class for me passable with a B. Definitely recommend if you need to take Gen Bio Lab for non majors, and she's teaching it.
horrible experience don't take her class
She is the worst professor. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
No textbook needed. she gives the powerpoint that she goes over in class and pulls her questions directly from the powerpoint. Also likes to give extra credit for all sorts of things at random so its not hard to fail
I took her for anatomy 1 and 2. She will be a good teacher in the future, but she is just so young. She takes FOREVER to put grades in. Be ready to teach yourself. The only way you pass is by taking every EC opportunity which there is a ton of. Her lectures are mandatory, but all she does is read from slides. Print out the slides and study before.
Bad experience ever. She can come as late as she wants, when a student come 1 minute late she will lock the classroom door.
She is Awful.. She doesnt go in depth about anything. Her PowerPoints are 30-45 slides and youll have a quiz every class (right after she reads off of the PowerPoint) which is 25 questions. She has an SI and she does all the work. I DO NOT RECOMMEND if you do take her make sure you can do the work on your own.
Be prepared to teach yourself! You dont know what is going to be on the midterm and final, even when you ask she doesnt want to tell you. You basically have to guess whats going to be on there. For the quizzes she let us make up our own questions. Dont take this professor!!! I literally passed with a C due to the extra credit honestly.
i absolutely do not recommend taking her class. By far the worst professor i've had. Her tests are hard and never gives you insight to what will be on there. Her exams were completely different format from the book and overall made the course way harder than it had to be to pass. DO NOT RECOMMEND HER.
Best professor for Biology!! First online class and it was a breeze!! 12 quizzes total and they are split up 25q each! Self Reflections took me literally two seconds to do, and the lesson discussions were easy. Quizzes were cake! I didn't look at the lessons at all either. I recommend this class online 100% ! First class I didn't cry over.
Do not take Professor Volpe Online class. Anatomy is a very intense course to take online if you dont have a good professor. She does not give any lectures and everything is on slides. The 12 quizzes are hard and dont Match the content on the slides. Not enough time to complete quizzes. She doesnt teach you anything and takes forever to grade.
I took professor Volpe for both Anatomy 1 & 2 lectures and labs and I think she is fair and gives clear information on what needs to be studied. Her labs and lectures are both very different and I will say her labs were by far my favorite. This is not an easy class but I learned SO much and feel more confident because of her classes.
Everything this teacher assigned and gave us to learn was so beneficial. The amount of help offered was great to!
The teacher was the most effective in helping me learn. The way she structures her classes keeps me from procrastinating, and her power points piecewise the information well. Her power points are well written, clear, and help me digest the information better than reading from the textbook. She is also really good at lecturing, staying on topic, and
Professor Volpe teaches in such a way that the student must also do extra research on the topic, this helped me to learn.
Dr. Volpe goes above and beyond with her extra credit, which she doesn't have to do so I sincerely hope students appreciate it. Dr. Volpe is also a very caring professor. and is always making adjustments to help her students and further their knowledge, like go out of her way to host an autopsy tour at FAU medical college
Overall Professor Volpe is a legendary teacher and a good person. She has high expectations, but it pushes you to try hard and not slack off. She is fair and reasonable as long as she knows that you are putting effort into the class and not taking things as a joke. She is awesome and I'd recommend her to anyone taking anatomy.
Professor Volpe is an amazing professor. She truly cares for her students, explains her powerpoints well and has test questions that prepares us for the future.
This is my second time taking Professor Volpe for AP lecture. You can tell that she cares a lot about her job and her students. More professors on campus need to be more available like Professor Volpe.
She's a Genius, her genuine interest in science drives me to learn more.
This class is very intense but well worth it if you really want to know about anatomy for future courses. Some very helpful parts are the SI sessions, the powerpoints and the in-class discussions.
I enjoyed the discussion questions. Particularly, I enjoyed the ones that dealt with the pandemic we are all facing. It was helpful to research it as we were going through it in real life. So, I appreciated the flexibility. She was available when we needed her.
I loved professor Volpe, I wasn't sure if she'd be a great micro professor in the beginning but 2 weeks into our classes I had no regrets about taking her class. She's very smart and even organised a cadaver lab tour for us for which I'm really grateful.
Great professor, learned a lot from her.
Terrible professor. Too busy to engage students. Material is not organized. Quizzes reflect some content not on PowerPoint. Teacher was non communicative. Late on an assignment? No credit. Took forever to grade items. The same person in June 2020 gave her good ratings to try and improve her score. You'd do well to find another teacher.
There is a lot of work to do. All lectures are prerecorded, I can learn at my own pace. its so easy to get an A there is lots of extra credit. If you cant get an A in theis class then you are not a good student. Easy A, would recommend.
The extra credit helped me pass. She gave us a month to do the quizzes. I didn't have to rush each week to finish. The lectures are prerecorded and SI sesssions suport the lectures. ZGreat class.
there is so much work to do. the mastering assignments are lame, because they are timed, but i finshed them all stressed out while doing them. did the extra credit my avergae went up and I am happy that we have the option for making up points. took for ap1 online now AP2 online is harder cus content but passed
There is a lot of work to do. Feels like busy work. The discussion board questions are for completion and the quizzes are not. extra credit is available throughout the semester. The final exam and journal entry were best assignments.
Professor Volpe offered a structured due dates list in which to aid us in creating a schedule. She really helped me learn on my own time.
The clear directions that the professor gave early on in the class. She gave us the schedule and I just followed it throughout the semester
this class was easy becasue the profesor provides a clear schedule and grading cirteria. I will take for ap2.
learned a lot despite online - course expectations are clearly identified in the syllabus.
there is a lot of work to do, lessons are prerecorded and i can complete assignments at my own pace all assignments due at the end of the semester. even though i never met the teach from our emails i can tell she is nice and understanding. answers emails quickly.
she does not all any make up assignments. WHich is not fair but extra credit is offered instead. I made up 30 points doing the SI sessions. worth it cus the SI is great.
the SI is the best part about this class. she offers a lot of study tips and tricks. this SI leader only works with prof. volpe. the prof has a real clear schedule and outlines the course expectations. I took her for both AP 1 and AP 2 labs and lectures.
Her class i took online and it was pretty straight forward. Do the labs and discussion and its a easy A. I was just a last minute person and got lazy. But this definately a A class
I don't advise to take Prof Volpe unless you want to be belittled. She is unclear on what is expected from the beginning & she doesn't care at all. Second day of class she asks everyone to turn in their assignment from a group project, only 4 students out of 25 knew what she was talking about, everyone else got an F. Her communication is terrible.
Great online lecture, I took Prof. Volpe for both lab and lecture, the assignments for both courses are the same, she lets students submit the same assignments for lab and lecture. Mastering is very helpful, at first I didn't want to do all the assignments but the variety of assignments made it easier to understand the content.
Professor Volpe is extremely condescending. Do not ask her for help, because she simply will not even try. She e-mails back late, even though it is an online course. Her communication with the entire class is terrible. Do not take her unless you are okay with these things. She is very strict on deadlines and does not care to fail her students.
Easiest online course I've taken. The majority of the assignments are through Mastering Pearson and the rest are Blackboard disucussion board questions. The course schedule is easy to follow and the Mastering assignments are all due at the end of the semester so I can pace myself at my own schedule. Attendance is not required to the online sessions
Professor made this class easy, most assignments are due at the end of the semester, there are a few weekly assignments to do, they are easy discussion board questions. My favorite assignment is the final exam, I really love photography and incorporating an art based assignment into a science course made the course more fun. Will take AP 2 with her
This course is created to complete asynchronously meaning, attendance is optional to office hour sessions. She records weekly reviews of each chapter. the mastering portal is the best reference, the assignments are easy and there is practice, the grading scale makes is nearly impossible to fail and the extra credit allows me to guarantee my grade.
4 zoom meetings and with that she had a clear record of those in class she still made us write a 400 word essay for proof of being in class! Covid situation dont think she cared. You got 1 extra point for those essays no lie please take another teacher! she takes her time with grading. Often threaten to drop you for absents or not doing essays
For the lab we were required to attend four Zoom sessions, for attendance we wrote a 400 word summary of the lesson content. To study I read over the summaries posted. The quizzes were straight forward and we had a review for the midterm and final, the review included images from the exam making it easier to study and to know what to anticipate.
4 classes mandatory zoom meeting but she's very nice and I was very accommodating. extra points on the attendence essays please work ahead this really helped me big time.
Doable course. Has Pearson assigns. due at the end of the semester so plan well; about a chapter a wk/ 4 assign a wk. Has non-course related work thats easy and is essentially extra credit due wkly. Also, extra credit opportunities. 1 essay easy and no cumulative exams just an easy project. SI vids and her PPTs posted help a lot. Use DSM in portal
This was by far the worse professor ever, like does she even do her job? Apparently not. She doesnt answer emails, she doesnt communicate with students, she doesnt like grading her own assignments. You mind as well drop out now if youre taking her or thinking of taking her. Youll be teaching yourself the whole time in her class.
The teacher was the most understanding and gave us work to helped us develop as students. The work wasn't overbearing and the professor was very kind to everyone she understood that we are in the middle of global pandemic and she did not make the lessons and assignments absolutely brutal, She's a great teacher!
She doesn't have no lectures of her very own then you using the mastery on pearson to teach yourself, furthermore theirs three or four questions per module or mastery that require you to write 500 words or essay. Theirs roughly 25 modules or mastery. The professor do not again,I repeat teach any of the lecture then you applying the effort on pearson
No due dates other than weekly discussion made for less pressure
I really enjoyed professor Volpes class. It is a lot of work as you would expect from an A&P class. But as long as you get it all in on time, shes not a harsh grader. All assignments were due at the end of the semester so there wasnt due date pressure you are responsible for pacing yourself. There are weekly discussion due once a week.
Lots and lots of busy work in the way of weekly discussion posts that are just going over the PBSC student handbook, on top of discussion posts for each chapter summary and questions, on top of the Pearson mastery course that is test heavy with several different modules within one test question. No lectures from the professor herself.
This is an incredibly lazy professor. She does not have any lectures and expects you to teach yourself by reading the textbook. She clearly does not care at all about her students learning. Do not bother emailing her because even if she responds it is obvious she didn't read your question. I am shocked that they pay her for doing nothing
I absolutely adored this teacher and was so excited to find out I can take her for BSC2086! All of her work is due at the end of the semester and that can either be a good thing for some or a bad thing for some. As long as you are self disciplined, you should have no problem getting an A. I did all the assignments and ended up with a 98%.
Original format of her class was great now its trash. Shes disorganized and made many errors that we had to point out to her. It took a while 4 her to make corrections which messed up our schedule. WAY too much work. Pay attention to quiz qs. Slow response to emails. Doable but horrible for 6wk class. But no time limit or camera for all assgns
Professor Volpe is a great teacher. She definitely prepares you for medical school or nursing school. You will do a lot of assignments. You will need to spend 12 hours a week on the class. Overall I like Her because she prepares you.
This Professor is very kind and helpful. She was quick to respond to messages sent to her inbox through Canvas. She is not a tough grader, but she Gives a lot of work both on Mastering Pearson and on Canvas. On each chapter you have to do the Pearson assignments which can be very lengthy as well as answer questions and write a summary on canvas.
I forgot what we purchase but we purchased something and Like most of the tests and quizzes are easy. It was open book but for some you can't find the actuals answers in the book or anywhere else so you had to guess. This class is okay. I've taken hard classes and this class wasn't one of them. It was just nerve-wracking
A lot of work but still an easy class. Unlikable if you hate writing which I do but there are 11 chapters that need a 200 words summary and 3 discussion questions (200 words total) for each chapter. Lots of Pearson assignments in addition to a 1000 word essay about yourself. You will get tired of writing boring summaries.
Professor Volpe was very organized, her instructions were clear and to the point, gives a lot of extra credit and cares about her students. you learn at your own pace, she does do a lot of discussion boards but are super easy, as well as her weekly quizzes are super easy. she made a&p easy and helps you if you may need it. 10/10 would recommend!
This professor was very good her weekly quizzes are easy if you study there is mastering Pearson a lot of discussion some was easy and some was eh not bad her project are very understanding and easy again she gives a lot of extra credit that was not hard at all just do your work and you will pass her class
I aint gone lie it was a lot of work I almost failed her class I found out I need the Pearson abscess code the day before it was due on a Monday and it was due on Tuesday at 11:59pm but I finished it you will have assignment due on canvas and Pearson . Which is 1,000 points do all the assignments I end up getting a B in the class but be careful .
DO NOT take her! It's very easy to miss due dates because it is online and that is a part of your responsibility however she barely communicates and the answers for her quizzes are always hidden. She is going to have you do TWO SETS of discussions for EACH chapter. 12 chapters = 24 discussions total (chapter summary disc & short answer disc.)
the class is layout is terrible if you procrastinate. there is a quick every week very easy just 3 questions. the classwork on person is given the beginning of the semester and due the last day, if you are on top of everything you will be fine and there are quizlets for everything.
No lectures at all the whole course, you are expected to read the textbook if you want to learn anything. Assignments are all busy work and she probably won't get back to you if you try to email her.
I took this class online. The class itself is easy but she assigns so much homework. The professor also never answers emails so beware of that. The class isn't bad at all it's just a lot of busy work and the professor never answers emails, but other than that, easy to pass.
Everything is due on the last day; there were no tests, mainly just weekly quizzes. The final is all of the attendance quizzes, so if you do good on that, then you're set. She is very easy to reach as she would quickly respond when I contacted her. Just don't procrastinate as I did, and you'll be fine. Retaking her this semester, rlly good teacher.
don't expect to actually learn anything because she doesn't teach, assignments are easy they're just busy work. easy class overall but unfulfilling
The only downside was all assignments were due at the end of the semester, and the Pearson portal we used was so annoying and took forever to complete. Other than that, we had weekly "attendance" quizzes that were very easy. The assignments that are due on canvas are also straightforward and simple.
The class isn't crazy difficult to get through, but there is an insane amount of writing that has to be done. You'll be asked to write 200 words minimum every chapter for the chapter summaries on top of a short discussion writing assignment for every chapter. There are also clinical studies which make you type an insane amount of words sometimes.
I would not recomend this professor. If u do ur work youll get an A, but an assignment can take up to 3 hours, and you cant go back into it, it has to be done at once. Not hard, just time consuming and tedious, when I have other classes and tests to worry about in lab. Wish i took a different teacher, I would have learned more and saved time.
This professor puts in grades at the last moment, and barely answers emails. to be honest, i dont know how her rating is so high, there are much better professors who answer emails and enter grades on time or even early. things were also opened extremely late. the actual course at the begining wasnt opened on time, save your time and energy!
Very hard to get in contact with over class concerns. Not responsive to emails. Not willing to make accommodations for students. Extensions are impossible to come by regardless of the situation. Do yourself a favour and pick a professor who cares about their students.
Took Microbiology Lecture 6 weeks Summer 23' course with Volpe. She does not respond to her messages, she gives a lot of assignments, if you have time on your hands, go for it. Its not a hard class. Just get ready to put in the work. She also offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. & you have to purchase the book and master lab for assignments.
Volpe is the type of professor that doesn't respond quickly to emails. BUT the course is designed well, I prefer having until the end of the term to complete all assignments. Grades are completed at the end of the term but the mcgraw assignments are graded automatically. There is an over abundance of work which helps buffer the mcgraw assignments.
I took this professor for AP1 AP2 w/lab and MCB. I earned an A in each class that is a total of 10 credits worth of A grades. Taking these classes with Volpe helped my GPA, I knew from other students that her courses are doable and was pleased to earn A in all 4 courses I took with her. Solid professor - lots of extra credit easy A good for GPA
this course was well laid out and easy to achieve an A. there is a lot of extra credit points and a lot of assignments. I don't see how it would be possible not to get an A in one of volpes classes. will take her again for micro
Love her and her classes.
I took her for A&P 2 Lab. She gives TONSSSSS of extra credit so even if you are failing, which you shouldn't be because she teaches the material very well, you can still 100% pass with the amount of extra credit she gives. Unfortunately, she takes about 24 hours to respond to emails.
Would take professor again. A lot of assignments incl. 2 presentations, 1 paper, & participation required during online class meeting. Professor is understanding. Extra Credit during lecture and assigned. All assignments due by end of term, but there are so many you can't wait until last min. I preferred the end of term due date.
i took this prof for ap1 and now ap2 with lab. I plan to take her for micro, the extra credit helped me get an A and give me peace of mind. there is a lot of work and all assignments are due at the end of the term. Also her courses have a tutor associated with the course, extra credit for tutoring sessions. her courses are easy just a lot of work
Lots of work but easy A if you do it all. Everything is due at the end of the semester. Case studies are mostly graded on completion. Overall I recommend her to everyone. No deadlines everything is due at once. McGraw takes forever but it's impossible to not get an A. Most of the assignments are rated on completion. Take AP1 & AP2 with her.
Amazing professor! I took this professor for AP1 and I highly recommend to take her for AP1 Ap2 and Micro. Very caring and easy to connect with. Truly a gem at pbsc.
I am taking this ap2 lab with lecture, the online course is easy to complete and balance with a fulltime job. I was nervouse about an in person lab but prof volpe is very understanding to students needs. She makes a tough subject easy to understand I like how she breaks down the information
7 modules (5 assignments each) + cumulative final on McGraw hill. All the due dates are for the end of the semester. firm. no extensions. There's 10-15 or so case study assignments that are plagiarism checked by Turnitin. Wont known your grade until after the deadline, currently have a 0% in canvas. Some extra credit + 2 "projects". I only did 1.
Professor Volpe's class has a lot of work, but using Unstuckstudy for study prep made it manageable. She's slow to respond, but the course is well-designed. Overall, it's an easy A if you put in the effort.
Easy A, not sure why she gets a bad rap class is a lot of work but it's doable!
This is my favorite professor, make sure you show up and do the work she provides and you're basically guaranteed a good grade. She explains things so well, wish she taught micro I would 10000000% take her again
Take this professor for AP 1 lecture, Ap2 lecture and LAB, and micro lecture. Don't miss out on the opportunity to strengthen your knowledge for science and your GPA. I really love this professor ap2 lec in person with her, she actually cares about students. Truly she loves us. Wish more teachers were like ber too
6 week online express class. There are 72 total assignments for this course (w/o weekly attendance quiz maybe around 60) due at the end of course. Readings are necessary to do work, theres a 1000 word essay and a project. If broken down into 10-12 assignments/wk it's excessive. Do not recommend at all if u work, have a family, or take other classes.
I heard from students that this is the professor to take and I do not regret that advice. The professor made this course passable by the point distribution, she is not a gatekeeper. I do not believe it is possible to not pass this course. It is a lot of work but doable....
it isn't possible volpe dont have a 5! do yourself a favor take volpe for ap1 2 and micro. Dont be taking it with some other dump... I am clearly telling you all...... Volpe is the best decision you will make in your life.
This is my 4th class with volpe. I already know I'm gonna get an A so I put it already. Took Anatomy 1 and 2 and lab 2. Now taking micro this summer. Wish I could take all my credits with her.
Lemme tell you that this teacher give so much work. Assignments are a lot....but lemme tell you that I only got a 73 average on those McGraw assignments and still passed the class with a A bc of the extra credit and regular canvas assignments. It is work but it ain't difficult.
You know What sets volpe apart from others????....is that it is all doable and nothing has to be perfect to still get an A. For those folks complaining about the work...be honest we know you still got an A. All the work is due at the end of the term. No complaints folks just take her courses, get your A and be good
All assignments were due at the end of the semester. I procrastinated and completed everything at the last minute and still got an A. It's not hard, just time-consuming. The assignment instructions are very clear, I didn't need to email her at all throughout the semester.
If you want to pass A&P take her. The only thing about taking her online is that is time consuming so be prepared for a lot of homework assignments. Amazing professor, she answers emails fast and she sends reminders whenever you have a missing assignment so you can catch up. I took her for the summer so it was easy to get everything done with time
This class was an easy pass. No tests or quizzes, but a lot of homework that takes at least 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. HOWEVER, if you need a professor who communicates clearly, regularly, sends updates/announcements often, and need questions answered do not choose her. absolutely zero communication whatsoever. You will be on your own here.
