He says a lot of "um"s in his lectures. He has a really good personality and likes to joke around with his students. But, for exams he tests a lot of unnecessary details from one chapter and tests the general ideas from another chapter. The lectures don't correspond to the textbook and you don't know what you'll be tested on. Hes pretty chill tho.

I took his PSYD20 and he was BY FAR the best prof I've ever had. He was extremely knowledgable and really made the topics come to life in a way no prof i've ever has. He's tough but fair when it comes to grading and really inspires students to have meaningful discussions. I felt a lot of personal growth in this class.

The prof made this class very stimulating for students and always made sure they got the best knowledge/understanding from each lecture. He explains concepts using real-life examples, helping understand the course content better. However, his exams are hard, so read/study the TB. Overall the, first, best psychology professor I have taken so far.

With COVID, he was not the great teacher that most say about him. The midterms were only 60 minutes, with around 55-60 questions. On top of that, questions were long and very much application based, meaning you would need to re-read the questions/answers. He was not accommodating to the general population of the class and didn't seem to care.

The content of the course is very simple and the topics are very interesting. If you don't like forensic psychology, you will hate his three hour lectures. There was a lot of content, the best way learn it was to read all the textbook chapters twice. He tests on small details but since the exams were open book, all the questions were very basic.

If you want to go through hell then take this course. His midterms are so easy that you think you would end up with A+ in the course. However, he tears you into pieces with his final exams. None of practice questions nor the midterms reflect the difficulty of the final exam.

He is an uninterested professor. His final exams are 60% and he makes sure you do not do well on it so that he can pull the average down. He is one of the worst professors I have had at UTSC.

His lectures were live and were 3 hours long, so the information was quite a lot. His midterms were mostly lecture based so just watching lectures and studying the slides was enough. However, for the final exam it was mostly textbook based so make sure to read it and take detailed notes to do well. The course is interesting and the prof was nice.

Awful instructor. Finals tested on information that he didn't even teach and composed of over 100 questions in the span of 3hrs. Have to set up appointments for his office hours which is fine, but he doesn't respond to emails. Do not take his class, is definitely a regret.

All the reviews here are right about the final being textbook heavy, whereas the midterms are all focused on lectures. He never states this in class which is very annoying. I had the benefit of doing the exams online, so they were all open-book, and ctrl+F carried me through the final. Great lecturer though.

Had open book, online exams. Midterms are fairly easy if you have VERY detailed notes from lecs, ESPECIALLY the textbook. He creates questions on very specific things. Written assignments are a freebie. The final exam was okay, but some questions seemed like they had typos, and some seemed very vague (weren't really from lecs or textbook).

Unless this is a mandatory course (like me) do not take this course. 2 midterms, 1 exam = 100 of your grade. too much content for one class. He expects you to read the textbook, and attend/watch lectures but also goes off the book for additional information. Luckily, he curves the grades by a decent amount but that says a lot about the difficulty.

There are only three exams in this class (tt1, tt2, final) that count towards the course grading, but professor puts out very difficult and detail-oriented questions, including the final which says that pre-tt2 knowledge is 1/4th, resulting in final question being 50% of the final. If you don't memorize very carefully, the score will be very low.

He asks a lot of analogy questions on his tests which can be hard to understand and complicated for no reason. Very application based. Must read the textbook AND watch the lectures for this course.

A unique and fun course. His lectures are essentially a re-iteration and sometimes an extension of the textbook, so as long as you make detailed notes on the textbook chapters, you will do fine in the exams! The final was much tougher than the midterms though. Great course overall!

I loved the lectures, he explains the subject pretty well. The textbook was interesting to read. The assignments are very easy grads to get. The 2 mid terms were very fair but I felt the final exam had a lot of Qs that needed memorizing instead of applying your knowledge, that's the only thing I didn't like. In general I recommend it.

Just study and do the work then you'll be fine. People expect the course to be easy but he makes the exams hard so that you can think and show that you understand the material.

Suprised by how many people dislike him. He is not a bad prof but I didn't like his exam structure. A lot of the material studied was not covered and instead we needed to answer the more obscure parts of the readings. The essay portion of the exams will 100% get you. And then he acts surprised when he sees a majority of the class failed the exam

I don't know why this prof has a bad rating. I have had him for two classes and love his class style. He always has two midterms and a final and gives you a complete list of what will be on each exam. He is funny and lectures slowly in a way that makes concepts easy to understand. Overall he is a super nice prof and I highly recommend him
