Wants you to do well. You obviously need to study a lot- it's anatomy! But with that being said, she makes the practicals as easy as possible compared to other professors I have had. Definitely take her
Professor Evans is an amazing professor! She makes everything as easy as possible and wants her students to succeed! She wants everyone to understand the material before moving on to something else. She's a fair grader. The class is hard so you will have to put in a lot of study time but it pays off. I definitely recommend her!
incredibly hard grader. you can answer an essay on the test one way, but she will take off for not answering it in the way she wanted (which she doesn't specify). study guide is useless, as barely any of it is on the test. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. lab wasn't hard. test around every two weeks, same with quizzes. never used the textbook.
One of the best A&P lab profs. She gives ton of extra credit, lets u go back&forth between stations for exams (i think she is the only one that allows this). There is a group quiz after every lecture but they are helpful. Go to open lab because she is always willing to help you and show you where everything is. LOTS of memorization.
I actually dropped this class, partially because I didn't manage my time well, which is super important, but also because towards the last day to withdraw, she would speed through the ppts so copying ANY of it down was impossible. Tests are hard and essays are worth half, but she gives possible ones to you in advance. Not fun.
Favorite professor ever! Biology is obviously a tough class, but she understands that and does whatever she can to help. A lot of tests and quizzes, but not too bad. Gives study guide for each unit which covers everything on test. 3 essays on study guide, one of which will be word for word for the essay on test. Wants every student to pass!
Evans is a very good professor for such a challenging class. I got a C, but it wasn't because of her. The course material is very hard to master so, be willing to put in as much time as possible and actually understand the material. Excellent professor though. She gives you the essays for the test in advance and that's why I got A's on all tests.
She does not answer clearly when you ask questions in the study guide. She responds to emails frequently and attempted to have online review sessions in the blackboard but not many students show up and she answers to the questions vaguely. She also does not give enough time for the quizzes and the questions cover unexpected materials in the chapter
People usually have better grades in lab so combined with lecture, it acts as a cushion to your grade, but on the other hand, it's a lot of work. Be prepared with the workload of test and quizzes every two weeks with lab posters. One lowest online and in class quiz get dropped in the end of the semester but hardly brings up the grade.
Bio 190 being a tough subject already, I feel like she was helpful with questions and assignments. She offered extra credit and understood that students had lives too. She was really nice and made the class giggle a few times. She gives study guides before tests which are extremely helpful!
Very knowledgeable about the subject! She is very welling to help and wants everyone to do well. The class its self is a lot of material, so definitely study and read the textbook! It will help dramatically! Also, do the study guides in their entirety; the final is based off the previous study guides. Prof Evans does take attendance occasionally.
Nice lady, not terribly exciting teaching style, but clear and occasionally funny. There to help and gives many opportunities for extra credit. I went out of my way to get her again for APII
This was my second time taking BIOL 190, last semester was with a different professor. Professor Evans provides you with study guides with all of the information you need, and gives you all the potential essay questions for the exams ahead of time. You don't need to study crazy to pass, but you do need to put in an effort. I recommend taking Evans.
One of the most helpful professors I've had. Throughout the semester, she did a lot of things that helped make anatomical parts and terms easier to understand. She's also well organized - no hurdles or surprise. Not the most enthusiastic professor, but that doesn't make her lectures boring.
This class is hard as it is but compared to other BIO 190 profs she is one of the easier ones. This class requires a lot of extra effort and study time so take it with some easier classes. The tests are difficult but extra hep and study sessions are offered. The textbook is not needed for class but i studied from there often.
Professor Evans is a great teacher. She is a little shy at first but is very down to earth and wants you to do well. She gives study guides and her powerpoint at the beginning of the unit. She's a very fast grader. I would take her again.
Professor Evans is a great teacher. She uses powerpoints for her lecture and keeps the content simple. If you have any question about any information she will help you. She makes you do a few group assignments in class which nice because she will put it towards extra credit. Also take her for lab.
She does what she can to help. She explains thoroughly but the lectures can get boring. She is very nice and will give chances for extra credit. She gives a study guide for every test which is essential if you want to pass the test.
I highly recommend taking her, she's awesome. Be ready to learn and develop good study habits because this class is no walk in the park. She posts the powerpoints and gives study guides. She is willing to always help and has study sessions occasionally.
Evans is awesome. Really layed back, willing to help you out if your struggling. gives a lot of short quizzes to boost your grade. Bio is never easy but she makes it possible to do well. I took her for bio 190 and I'm now taking anatomy with her and I'm so excited. Highly Recommend her
Exams are tough, but as long as you study the lecture material and read the chapters you will do fine. Evans provides study guides for each exam, and is always available for office hours, and by email. I would highly recommend her for 190! She is occasionally pretty funny, and really wants you to do well in her class. Very helpful for lab as well.
Hard class to take. Gives study guides but not helpful or specific for the exams. Her labs are super easy though but Lecture is VERY difficult with so much material to study for. She's very boring, shows no emotion, and takes points off for every little thing. She will even take off a ".25" for something small. TAKE AT YOUR OWN RISK
I would definitely take her again. Gives quizzes almost every class(group effort) which help boost your grade a little bit. Very bland personality but she's straight forward in what she wants. Take her if you want to pass with a B or greater
She gives clear, concise directions/help/etc, you just have to put in the effort. The workload is manageable and take her for lab! She's such a sweetheart, cares about students but still very firm in her rules.
She is a great professor! I have to retake lecture that I had with a different teacher and decided to take her. Her labs are amazing and it is very easy to get an A if you study. You do not need the book. I recommend taking pictures of the models the day you learn them and print them out to study with. Going over the words multiple times helps.
Best bio teacher. Tests aren't hard at all just make sure you study. No homework. Lectures are posted on blackboard, but they're explained in depth during class. Would deff take her again
She is good for lab and got an A- (she wouldn't round me .3 points to make an A) theres group lab quizzes . Lecture is a whole different story. Failed the class by one point which she wouldn't round but theres also quizzes each week. She skips and rushes through a lot of material. Take her for Lab
Evans is great face-paced professor for a much expected face-paced course. A&P is no joke so heavy studying should be dedicated to it. I recommend using the book to follow her lectures to help with better understanding and make sure your notes are on point. She's informative and helps with notes but if you have questions, definitely ask.
Evans is really great overall. She uses a lot of diagrams to help illustrate otherwise complex topics and functions. A&P is hard, and you definitely have to work hard to get an A, but it is definitely achievable! She does not try to trick you. Same goes for A&P lab, I had her for lecture and lab, loved her.
Professor Evans is an awesome anatomy professor for both lecture and lab. For lecture there are 4 exams including the final, each exam has an extra question for extra credit. There are also quizzes. She lets you know what you need to know for the exams, very straight forward. Lab is easy, there are group quizzes and 3 practicals. She is awesome.
Prof Evans is nice and straightforward. She lectures with outlines and I only used the textbook a few times. Her exams are all multiple choice, there are 5 point quizzes every week, she offers extra credit (and eventually drops low quizzes), and no hw or projects. If you just memorize and study a bit you'll get a B. You need more effort for an A.
Took this class 1st semester. Love this teacher. She draws things out for you to understand it better and tells you what you need to know for tests and quizzes. I even made sure that I got her for A&P lec and lab for Fall 2017. Please go to the SI sessions she tells you about even if you have an A. I went to every single one and kept my grade up.
Professor Evans is an amazing anatomy professor. She doesn't rush through the material and wants all students to do well. She is encouraging and will break down difficult concepts. She gives outlines of what is needed for tests and we add notes to the outline in class.
I took her for AP I lecture last semester and I wish she did lecture for AP 2. The lab was fairly easy in my opinion. I learned more in her AP 2 lab than in my AP 2 lecture. Graded based on 3 exams and group quizzes which had extra credit in (exams too). Sometimes went over material quickly but you can record her lecture and go over it at home.
Prof Evans is a great teacher. She really wants you to do well and will go over any questions you have and will explain it as many times as you need. She draws ALOT so if youre a visual learner, she will be great for you. She really tries to make the difficult content as understandable as possible. The content is pretty hard.
She is the best! This is NOT an easy class at all but she tries to make it as easy as possible. There is a quiz every other class typically and she gives a lot of chances for extra credit. Best thing about her is that she follows an outline every lecture that you fill out which helps so much when you study for exams!
Evans is probably the best teacher you can have for anatomy. The subject is hard as it is, but she makes it worthwhile and she's funny. I love her exams cause she just gets to the point and she tells you what will be on the exam. I had her for lecture before and I learned a lot from her!!
I was so pleased with my lab experience with Professor Evans. Although the class required a lot of time, effort, and memorization, she executed it very well. She explained everything we needed to know thoroughly, and was consistently available for questions. I wouldn't want to have had anyone else for my lab!
Professor Evans was an amazing professor for lecture. Her lectures was concise, she explained things very well, and gave lots of different tools for success. She always took questions, and spent time writing or drawing things out if necessary. She genuinely wants everyone to succeed, and gives many opportunities to raise your grade! She's the best!
Professor Evans was a great caring instructor. She was always available for help and her exams were pretty simple. The final was cumulative and was a little difficult but she offers a lot of extra credit. I would recommend taking her but there will be a lot of work so be prepared. There are quizzes pretty much every week and she does not curve.
Evans was an awesome professor. She takes pride in her job and teaches you everything that is going to be on the test. She does not give trick questions
She is a very good professor. She gives opportunities for extra credit. She gives tips on how to succeed in this class. She's very funny and very likable. Grade is made up of quizzes and exams.
TAKE HER!!! Amazing. Had her for lab and lecture. A&P is a hard class naturally but she breaks it down so well. She gives soooooo much extra credit. She really cares about her students. Just study a lot and you'll do great. She saved me. I don't know what I would have done if I had anyone else
I took Evans for Bio 190 (got a B+) and took Bio 221 (Anatomy 1 and got a 97). Evans won't test you on anything she doesn't say so you don't need to read the textbook! She keeps things simple but you definitely need to study to get an A!
I was extremely nervous about taking A&P. Prof. Evans did everything short of taking the quizzes/exams for us and did everything she could to make it less stressful. She would point out structures repeatedly if you were unsure and she would answer any questions you had. She gives plenty of time to study for the quizzes that are after each class.
The BEST a&p prof at Towson. Had her for 1 lecture and lab. Had her for 2 lab. If you take someone else you WILL NOT pass. I wish she taught lecture for 2. Do YOURSELF favor and take her for all ANATOMY CLASSES POSSIBLE!!!! Shes SO sweet. SO much extra credit. Hard class either way. You need to study WELL, but she breaks it down. THE BEST!!!!!!
Professor Evans IS THE BEST I wish she was teaching A&P 2 lecture for next semester, she explains concepts great and she is willing to help you break it down if you dont understand the concept. I literally studied HARD for this class, and I put the effort in and got an A, so it is possible.
She's a great teacher but has awful social skills. I've been to her office hours plenty its awkward and not helpful. Her lecture quizs are SO hard because she words them weirdly and there only 5 QUESTIONS based of 10+ pages of notes so you have to know EVERYTHING. Tests are written in a confusing manner as well. Not straightforward and challenging.
Had her for anatomy lab, she had group quizzes at the end of each lab. Choose your lab group wisely because thats who you'll be completing the quiz's with. She doesn't really do much but point to the structure on model, its pretty much on your self, your memory and how much you study.
I had her for anatomy 1 lecture and lab over the summer. It was a stressful class but for both lecture and lab she made sure her students understand the material. I recommend going to her office hours for extra help. She post grades on time and have in class quizzes. The book is not necessary but nice to have. I would definitely take her again.
I had Evans for BIOL 221 Lecture/Lab this semester and she is absolutely amazing! She never tests on information not covered in class, so make sure to attend all lectures and labs! She gives plenty of extra credit which is super helpful especially in anatomy. A&P 1 is hard work but it's not impossible! Definitely take her, she makes it really easy!
Prof Evans is the BEST ! Just like anatomy one there are 3 exams, no final, end of class quizzes. Basically the same lay out. I love Professor Evans, shes layed back and just wants you to do well.
One of my favorite professors she really takes her time with the class. The online videos are your best friend I barely studied and it was an easy A. Best lab professor guaranteed, so many extra credit opportunities as well and quizzes are in groups with other people.
I had Evans for lecture and lab. Her lecture tests are worded very hard and are tricky although she gives a lot of extra credit. Lab was my favorite. She shows you everything and for A&P 2 you do case studies for 24 points and group quizzes which helps your grades a lot. Not as much extra credit in lab but a survey and course eval points.
Professor Evans is by far my favorite lecturer at Towson, this was her first time teaching A&P 2 at Towson and I was super excited when I found out because I took her for A&P 1 and would not have gotten an A without her. She makes everything super clear and gives you many chances to succeed. But you have to put the effort in A&P, is hard so study!
Professor Evans explained things very well and gave you all the opportunities to succeed. She gave lots of extra credit! Was really approachable outside of class and made the lectures interesting!
Evans is a great teacher and her lectures are very straightforward. She gives a lot of extra credit but shes tough you're going have to work for a good grade and need a prayer or two lol. but forreal....
Great professor who gives clear instructions on what she is testing for and how the layout will be. Lots of downtime in class to learn the material. She gives a quiz at the end of every class but the students decide what questions are on it so its not difficult. Go to class and study and you'll be fine.
Anatomy at Towson is hard, period. But professor Evans makes Anatomy bearable. The class requires several hours of studying a week, you can't slack. But Evans loves when students come to her office for extra help. I don't think I would've passed this class with any other professor so take her if you can. She offers a little extra credit not much
I took Evans twice, first time I got a C because I never studied. She is a great lecturer and easy to follow, A&P is a lot of information but she explains it all clearly and does not make the tests impossible. She wants to help you. I got an A from studying, and theres small quizzes and EC which also can make/break the grade. STUDY STUDY STUDY
Great professor! Very understanding. She explains things well and will reexplain if needed. She made what seemed like a hard class much more simple. I'm going to have her as a professor next semester
Stella Evans is a good professor! While this class is meant to be hard, she made it seem easy. She doesn't assign many assignments. We had a quiz almost every week and she assigned a new lecture almost every week. She gave us up to 25 points in extra credit (take advantage of it!). She is good at explaining difficult topics in simpler ways.
Prof. Evans was amazing. I took her Fall 20 semester which was online and it wasnt overly difficult at all. She sends out weekly emails detailing what assignments are due and on which day and time. Virtual zoom meetings are "optional" but if you attend, you earn xtra credit. HIGHLY recommend! Gives soo many chances to earn xtra credit. EASY CLASS!
Anatomy is a hard subject no matter the professor. Professor Evans made it manageable. With online class, it was optional but very helpful. I recommend studying how she suggests and prepare well for tests.
I LOVE PROFESSOR EVANS! by far the best professor ive had at towson so far. im normally not strong in science, but i finished with a B. she makes sure you understand the material and wont let you fail but you have to work for it!
Sometimes her diagrams she draws can be confusing, but she is pretty good at explaining concepts and has review sessions. There is a lot of extra credit opportunities. There are no surprises on the exams, as everything is discussed in lecture.
I absolutely adore prof evans. She is super caring and is always willing to help. She explains every topic very in depth and her ULA Alanna is amazing as well. There are so many opportunities for extra credit and although the material is difficult, she is very transparent with all of the assignments. She is the best professor to take anatomy with!
Professor Evans is overall a great professor and incredibly understanding. Lectures can be kind of long or boring, but she is clear and her outlines are pretty easy to understand. Just keep up with the content and you'll be fine. 3 exams and a cumulative final, but she has extra credit. Records lectures and study sessions and gives good resources
Prof evans is really nice and gives lots of extra credit opportunities. I think this class is just destined to be hard. She lost a little bit of her spark from last semester, with giving up on attendance and making the tests near to impossible due to the spike in cheating with online. The class is extremely difficult but she is one of the best.
I took her based on these ratings and THIS WAS THE WORST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE ACADEMICALLY!!! She made her exams ridiculously HARD after our first exam (ALL APPLICATION QUESTIONS) bc the class in general did well! She got so mad at us thinking an ENTIRE class just cheated and clearly stated that in her email. DON'T GET IN THIS TRAP!SAVE URSELF
I thought this would be an easy class as I had her for A&P 1 lec.. boy was I WRONG. Exams were hard AF, all questions she made herself and required comprehension on how you would apply the material. She is very nice and gave T O N S of EC opportunities, which saved my grade. HW assignments are super easy and so are quizzes but exams? PLS S T U D Y!
Im not sure why her ratings are high. Evans should provide powerpoint slides like many other 221l professors do for their students. When she was asked to provide slides or basically any other resources she declined... It doesn't seem like she wants her students to succeed.
Professor Evans does not deserve the high rating she is given. She did not provide visuals like PowerPoints to aid her lecture, so it was hard to follow. Tests were HARD and if you dont study enough you will not pass. When I emailed her regarding questions, she responded in an unprofessional and almost rude way every time.
If you have to take A&P1 take it with Evans. I am not a stem major so theres no way Id pass with any other professor. She curved the tests and gave TONS of extra credit , take her.
Not sure why Prof Evans is rated well, though I suspect it's because positive reviews were written about her online classes (which are easier) but in person she is HARD. She means well, but doesn't provide study guides; lecture outlines are confusing; and she doesn't hand back exams to study from. Exams are ALL application q's. Avoid!!!
I had her for lab and lecture and it destroyed me. In lec she made all her exams overly hard, she did have some built in extra credit which is the only reason I got a b in this class. In lab she gave no support up for studying the material. The only way to survive is to go to all the 8 am open labs and put tons of hours into studying.
Prof Evans anatomy 1 class is the most difficult class I have ever taken. If you see all her green ratings they are by students who took her online during the pandemic. I unfortunately based my descision based off those ratings and huge mistake. HER EXAMS ARE IMPOSSIBLE class avgs were so bad. Take her if you want to be miserable. GPA WIll DROP!
Just dont. .. if u care about your gpa and sanity
Professor Evans is kind and patient, but extremely strict on grading and won't round your final grade unless you meet her specific criteria, even if you are 0.01% away from the next letter grade. I had her for lab and lecture but felt as if she was a lot better at communicating the lab material than the lectures. Quizzes and exams are really tough
Prof Evans isn't a bad teacher, she just goes through material super quickly, but u can always ask questions after class - she's open to answering any questions you may have. You have to be diligent about studying for her lab exams and lab quizzes. If you don't take time for these courses, your grade will suffer. But she's really fast at explaining
I taught this entire class to myself because her lectures were unclear, rushed, and extremely confusing. This class was a huge waste of my time. Not an understanding or caring professor
Hardest lab I've ever taken. Practicals were impossible.
Professor Evans was very nice but she is not very personable, you couldn't really ask her questions. Her exams are the hardest exams i've ever taken she would have study guides but none of that material would even be on the exam.
Dr. Evans is amazing! I had her for both anatomy 1 and 2 as well as lab for both! She taught at 8am for me, but trust me, it is so worth it!Her lectures are amazing and really informative, she's a really fair grader, gives ton of extra credit and is very available outside of class. Take Dr. Evans, esp. if you are in pre-nursing!
Awful professor. Practicals were impossible.
Awful. Practicals were impossible.
Professor Evans has been my saving grace. Anatomy is hard no matter what but Evans will make it as simple as possible. She tests you exactly how she teachers so if you are present and taking notes you will do just fine. You can tell she wants everyone to pass, lots of extra credit, and final is optional if you are happy with all exam grades.
She is absolutely amazing, super inspirational, and wants all of her students to succeed. If you are able to take her for any anatomy course please do so.
Absolutely love professor Evans. I took her for Anatomy and Physiology 1, that class alone is hard but having professors Evans made this experience great. She cares about her students and wants every single one of us to succeed. ABSOLUTELY would recommend.
Professor Evans is a great professor! She has been super helpful and really cares for her students. There are a lot of extra credit opportunities and if you're lost she doesn't mind explaining things in depth. Her lectures are also super easy to follow as she projects her notes as she writes them and explains things in depth. Great professor!
Evans is a great professor who cares about her students and genuinely wants everyone to pass. I loved how she conducted her lectures. The 8 a.m.'s are worth it! Dont know why there are negative ratings. Anatomy is going to be hard, so you have to do your part as well but she will really help you get there and break things down for you
I took her for pathophysiology, which is not offered on the list above. anyway, she did explain things well, but you really have to review your anatomy before beginning, because she does assume you remember everything. She was a really hard grader on the exams so provide as much detail as you can.
The exams were very difficult, as I did better on the final then any of the other exams. However, she provided tons of extra credit which allowed me to get my grade in a good place. Her lectures can be very wordy but she gave us outlines which helped. She truly wants her students to exceed and without her caring so much I would not have passed.
Proffer Evan's is by far the best Anatomy and Physiology teacher Towson has to offer. I took her for A&P l and now for A&P ll, she draws most of her Exam questions from the online quizzes, we have one Asynchronous day and a day we meet in person, for the day we meet in person she gives ec, if you want to pass this classwith a one and done take her!
One of the worst classes I've taken. I understand the class is asynchronous but the way she didn't try to help her students out one bit is ridiculous. No course content at all besides the work and textbook, so you have to teach yourself. The exams were so insanely hard and not realistic. No extra credit. And two chapters due on thanksgiving break.
Prof. Evans runs a tough class, but if you put in the work, she'll help you excel. The exams are challenging, but the extra credit opportunities make a big difference. unstuck study was a game-changer for my study prep.
Prof. Evans is very kind, she cares about the success of her students in her class. Often providing extra credit after exams, most of the questions on her exams are derived from her slideshows and online quizzes. However, if you don't like reverse learning don't take her. Lectures are posted on BB, then reviewed in class. Only meet once a week.
Since the course is asynchronous, there's not much interaction, but I really appreciated how she consistently reminded us of upcoming due dates—it's easy to lose track when you're not attending in person (at least for me). The course was also very well-organized, which made everything much easier to manage! Pretty hard course to fail i'd imagine...
Ms. Stella Evans was wonderful. She was very helpful and easy to reach during this online class. Lectures on tuesdays were in person and on thursdays were online. Anatomy lecture is a hard class but she made it easy to digest and was a great explainer if you didn't understand something. If you have a choice take her !!
Just Horrible. Your grade depends solely on 4 extremely difficult exams. She barely gives any extra credit and seems to be confused whenever you ask a question. The exams are beyond difficult; you must watch hour long videos before class, where she repeats the same exact information, BUT THEN THE EXAMS GO SO MUCH FURTHER IN DEPTH. DON'T TAKE HER!!!
5 exams lowest gets dropped. You don't have to take the final if you are doing well in the class; if you did take it and fail, it will not affect your grade. lab quiz every Wednesday (mostly labeling), so it's easy STUDY THO. I recommend her lecture videos and outline to study for exams. Sweet professor lecture is not mandatory
Easy A&P I Lecture professor but hard A&P II Lecture professor. Most things said from previous reviews are true, but A&P II exams are super difficult for whatever reason. She will include things she did not teach or state was in the textbook for us to study into the exams. While I appreciate her help over office hours, this class had me so stressed
