Great teacher. Young and passionate about her work. We are actually around the same age and were taking another class when I met her. She caters to the students and does her best to make sure everyone is given a fair shake at a great grade. She challenges you to think in and out of the box, and if you put in the effort, you will be rewarded.

She is an amazing English teacher no doubt about that. Her class is challenging and you really have to do your homework...if not than you don't deserve to be in her class. She doesn't accept lazy people. You will not regret taking her class!! Again she is AWESOME!

Her class is doable, we read four books and write a different type of essay on each. We also have a lot of class discussions. I recommend you take her its very easy to get an A. She's also very nice :)

Simply put , she makes you wanna show up to the classes and actually enjoy them while learning. How many professors can do that? She isn't an easy grader however she gives you an opportunity to fix and resubmit your work .Lastly,she respects her students and her students respect her back.

Dr. Setka is an amazing professor!!! She follows her syllabus to the T, but will work with you if needed. She knows what she's doing so don't try to play her. I think that if you put the effort in, she will help you produce the grade you want. She is well respected for a reason. (I don't like English too much but she actually made me want to learn)

I took Dr. Setka's English 102 class online and it was a great experience. The course was well-structured, expectations were clearly stated, and reading assignments were very interesting. She also gave really great feedback on each assignment.

Professor Stella is by far the coolest professor at West LA college! Her material is straight forward and she is not stingy with marks, if you work for them, you get them. I took both English 101 and 103 with her, she is by far the best professor I have ever had. Respect!

I loved taking Dr. Setka, she is amazing. Her lectures are fabulous. There are only 2 major papers, in-class journal entires, and peer reviews. Just follow the directions and listen to her feedback and you'll get an A. We read short stories and watch movies. This class was the best. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Setka, By far has been the best professor online or in person! You cannot fail her class. The resources that she provides gives you what you need to set yourself up for success. Dr. Setka is an amazing professor. She gives excellent feedback and will return emails within 24 hours. You can ask her anything and she is there to help. The class is not an easy A. You can not miss one assignment. She uses American Gothic Genre to teach, so it is fascinating and everyone seemed engaged.

The professor was great and laid out all the course work very clearly from day one, all with reasonable due dates. The weekly quizzes are easy enough if you read the short stories and the weekly discussion posts are not bad either. Professor Setka grades quite generously and as long as you don't leave anything to the last minute you will get an A.

Professor Setka is a good professor. Her quizzes are pretty easy if you read the stories she assigns weekly. Discussions/Response Essays were the hardest to tackle but I managed to do well. There's also a guide called InQuizitive which helps you learn about common misspelled words, comma errors, and many more. Responds to emails quickly. Take her.

I took English Gothik with Dr. Setka and it was the absolute highlight of my college experience so far. Dr. Setka took the time to teach me how to formulate a thesis and write scholarly articles. I was apprehensive when I read the syllabus as the topic we would focus on was Gothic, and it is not something that I am interested in. However, Professor Setka chose very good material (short stories and films) for us to analyze. I actually ended up enjoying this class a lot. Make sure to do the discussion boards as it is the bulk of your grade.

Loved gothic lit with Professor Setka! There were a lot of assigned readings and even a few movies, but never a dull moment. The discussion posts are short essays, so be prepared to write. Follow the rubrics, and you'll do well.

The care Professor Setka has for her students is evident in her video/audio lectures, her quick grading turn around time and her thoughtful feedback. By the end of the term, I felt like I had a good foundation in African-American Literature. I have already used the knowledge I gained in this class, in subsequent classes.

I've taken three classes with Dr.Setka throughout my time at West LA and I've never felt more cared for and inspired by a professor. ENG 207 and 208 helped me explore new content and I feel that the discussion + quiz based class helped me understand the material better as opposed to writing several papers. I highly suggest any class w/Dr.Setka!

I took English 219 with Professor Setka as well as English 208 and really enjoyed both courses. I appreciate a professor who makes the class work as interesting as possible while also giving the student room to be creative. The coursework isn't light but its reasonable and since I found the readings interesting I looked forward to completing work.

Ms. Setka is a wonderful professor. I've had the pleasure of having her for English 101 and 102, and I can say both semesters were full of meaningful and thorough work. She truly has a talent for creating lesson plans in a respectable way that makes it impossible for the student not to be able to follow! I hope to have her again for English 103!

I enjoyed my semester learned new things in this class, she gives us good examples and lectures on our assignment and most of all she is amazing at helping us if we struggling with any assignment we may have.

Very manageable class and a great teacher! Surprisingly really enjoyed the short stories we read. Professor Setka gave me lots of good feedback, and gave me extensions whenever I reached out. Work is straightforward - a few short essays, and each week has a quick discussion post and a quiz that you complete until you get 100%.

I am happy I had a chance to take Dr. Setka's class because she is a knowledgeable and caring professor. The material she had us analyze was so relevant and informative, but I appreciated how she challenged us to be critical thinkers while also being empathetic towards the subjects we were reading.

Heavy reading for an 8 week term, but it was manageable. Every week we had a mini essay in the form of discussions (8~ total) with one big creative project at the end. Not hard, but good information and a great lecturer. Really liked her class, even if I'm not an English major.

I took Dr. Setka for both English 207 & 208, and I know my literary cognizance increased significantly. While she covers a swath of American literature, she presents it so students aren't overwhelmed because she wants her students to unearth the gems of literature that another professor might overlook. Ohhh I truly enjoyed this professor! She actually gave feedback on assignments and it was good, clear feedback that helped me improve in some of my problem areas. I haven't taken an English class in over 5 years so this professor and this class helped me fall in love with reading and literature again.

She is AMAZING! The focus is on gothic literature and media. She provides feedback and help if needed. There are two essays, but the concepts are easy to grasp and write about. Discussions are typically a paragraph each, but again, the topics are enjoyable. I would take this professor again and will be having her for English 102! Take her class!

This professor is very understanding. I was having difficulties with buying the book you need for the class and they gave me extra time to complete the assignments. The reading assignments are also very engaging and easy. The homework is not a lot and easy to manage. Only 2 papers which are engaging and fun. As someone who doesn't like essays.

Great professor! Some weeks are heavy + harder due to archaic nature, but the teacher is very approachable and open to questions paired with wonderful lectures. Assignments are stress-free, and plenty of time is given for the midterm/final (+open book and note); just pay attention to the lectures and actually do the readings and you'll do great.
