Larose, nice guy, but lacks fundemental teaching skills. He can not keep the class on schedual and fails to provide students with advanced warning about what will be omitted due to the class falling behind. I do not reccomend this class to any one who is seriously dedicated to learning.
BIRD COURSE.I skipped more than half the classes but still got an A.He doesnt make good use of class time; goes off tanget, fails to keep class inline(always interruptions).Do the text readings and youll do fine.Makes ignorant comments sometimes and hes suppose to be teaching about diversity of culture. Not the greatest prof but a really nice guy.
I found Prof. Larose extremely nice as a person, however I found his lectures lacked challenge. I read the textbook very leniently and managed to get and A with little effort. I was hoping that social class issues would be discussed but other mainstream topics I've already heard about were talked about instead. Easy grades but you don't learn much
I enjoyed Larose's class. It's such a comfortable atmosphere and you can learn as much or as little as you want. Of course, you get a better mark if you learn more ha ha. Very accommodating. This prof does digress about, but it's to illustrate a point. He makes me want to take more Sociology classes - especially ones taught by Larose.
TOO FULL OF HIMSELF. HE IS A NICE GUY BUT EVEN THOUGH HE MAY NOT DELIBERATLY BE PREDJUICE, HE SEEMS QUITE SO. NO FEEDBACK ON EXAMS TA'S MARK EERYTHING WITH NO COMMENTS SO YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHERE OR WHY YOU'VE GONE WRONG. HOWEVER, CLASS IS EASY. WATCH RUSSEL PETERS IN UNIVERSITY??? MONEY WELL SPENT???
Some of the comments below are puzzling... I found Prof Larose to be knowledgeable, witty, funny, and extremely helpful. He'll sometimes say something 'provocative' but as a way of getting our attention, or challenging conventional wisdom. Those who can't appreciate that should take gardening courses instead.
I felt that Larose neglected the class material and wasted lecture time. Very easy to get an A, but learning is minimle. His class has killed my passion for sociology.
Great professor. Keeps students interested. A very relaxed class environment. I would take another class with him.
Professor Larose is an awesome guy! It's definitely an easy class. He's really nice!
Larose is an excellent prof. Supports you without being a babysitter. If you show up for class and read the text, you get a lot out of the classes. If you skip, you can still get the grade, but you miss a TON of great stuff. The real value is the lecture. Super friendly, approachable, has steady office hours so questions can always be answered.
He is a very interesting teacher. He uses videos to help explain what we are learning in class. He gave us a take-home midterm and final. He tells you exactly what he expects for the exams and the project in class. Keeps the students captivated with interesting examples. I really liked taking his class!!! & woud like having him as a teacher again
Very nice prof. but tends to go on tangents. Likes group discussions and shows a lot of videos.
He is a great teacher. One of the best teachers in uottawa. His exams are really easy and they are not surprising. The lectures are really important. If u attend the lectures and study the parts of the book he tells u about, you can easily get a good grade. He is very helpful and supportive and I would definitely take a class with him again.
I absolutely loved this class. Larose is one funny, sincere guy. I have him again this year and I'm stoked! The material is so simple and he went above and beyond preparing us for midterms. You're lucky if you have him!
VERY easy class. Getting lower than an A almost seems impossible to me, especially with the simplicity of his tests. He tries to be funny, which in itself is sometimes funny. Has amazing stories to wake you up and you get to watch Russel Peters for some ethnically related stuff. Great prof, though sometimes his knowledge seems limited.
I hated missing his lectures because he gives a lot of valuable information and stimulates great group discussion.. and is just downright entertaining! Be conscious of his biases because he does make some clear, but so long as you recognize them you can make up your own mind. Show up to lectures and you'll see his midterms/exams are very fair.
I am taking this course now, and honestly I have no idea what is even going on in this class!!!! He shows photos of burnt toast that looks like jesus' face to describe science. I have had friends who took the course with other profs and they did not learn the same things. I have heard its easy but we will see when I hand in this assignment...

prof Larose was an amazing teacher. i know other profs teaching this class who assigned a lot of papers and had many quizzes. Dr larose gives 2 midterms (very descriptive of material on each exam), and a final (not cumulative, gives very detailed instructions). Overall i would definitely recommend him as a prof for this class.
Deadly.
Prof was a lot of fun and kept class very interesting by adding amusing pictures, videos, and personal stories related to the subject matter. Final was not cumulative which was amazing! Is very willing to answer all questions. Would definitely recommend him.
I took the soc 1101 with him as well and got an A+ in both classes. The textbook is useful but if you go the lectures you know what he wants and how to answers the very easy mid terms. he teaches you everything you need to know but tests you on whats useful for the following years. I would recommend taking his class if you want a fun prof!
After his teaching I actually became interested in such "boring" (as i thought previously) subject. Recommended.
Good prof
Awesome Professor! He really made each course interesting, and taught it in a way that was useful and related to day to day life. Highly recommended! I hope to take a few of his other courses. He really made a huge impact on my first year at University.
Très bon prof. Clair et précis dans ses attentes et son enseignement. Notre moyenne était de A- dans le cours.
I couldn't stand the way the exams were graded; I understood everything the first time around and practically failed because my definitions weren't copy/pasted from the book. The second mid-term I spent hours memorizing concrete definitions and then got an A-Does not make make the student develop any form of reasoning; Just memorize and pass.
Completely incompetent. may as well have watched teletoon to build the same information base. tries to be funny, but seems to be a ploy to distract from his lack of professional knowledge. sticks to what he knows, if you dont conform to his evaluation requirements he understands your rational argument no better than a four year old could
Best prof i had !!! Simply awesome! take this course and you'll love the course as well as the prof
Excellent. Memorize the text book, ad listin to what he has to say.
Amazing class, phenomenal professor. Larose is super interesting, very clear about midterm and final expectations and marking, and his marking is fair. Best class I've taken in first year. Great guy, great prof, great class. Enough said. Highly recommend.
I loved him. He was so funny and such a cute person! We barely used the textbook until it was time for midterms and exam. Multiple choice questions on the midterms and exam would come directly from the textbook while written answers were from his lectures. He gives sample questions during the midterm reviews and tells you exactly what you need :)
He is an excellent teacher, enough said. If you have even the slightest interest in science or the way that theories are constructed in science I would highly recommend taking this course. It was very laid back and easy going, only 1 midterm take-home, 1 group project and 1 take-home final. Prof. Larose is a super nice guy and is almost quite funny
HE ROCKS!!! Larose is so cool. He's very helpful and the tests are easy :) the textbook is an easy read, plus we never read a full chapter. You learn lots of cool stuff and he gives you hints on test questions/answers. Go to class, read the book = A+ guaranteed!!
Such a funny prof. The class was fun to go to, and also very easy. He always gave hints about what's going to be on the midterms/exams. Basically just memorize definitions and you're good to go. Easy A!
Such a beauty, great teacher. Dropped this course first year because of a horrible teacher, and stephan larose was way better. great class, and he's funny
If you want high mark, this prof rocks. Hes funny and his lecture is really easy and organized. Hes cool and really enjoy this course.btw, hes very patient to answer questions even some questions which are dull.
Good marks good prof aewsome lecture
Awesome prof, extremely funny, very nice and carrying, who is able to create a fun and interesting environment for everyone! Both midterms were easy and so is the final! This prof is the best! I wish every prof was like him :D Take this class and you will love it!
Prof has a fun approach to teaching, enjoys when students participate and always provides clear expectations for exams by dedicating a full class for exam review and sample questions that appear on the exam! (all multiple choice/short answers for this class). Great prof! Will make sure to take another class of his again!
Amazing professor! Had to make sure to leave a rating on RMP, because he's just that good! Funny, and really knows his stuff. Tells you exactly what you need to study for midterms and exams - do so, and you're guaranteed to get an A. Will DEFINITELY take a class with this prof in the future and is highly recommended!
the best prof i ever had in ottawau, i have been a student here for almost 5 years and he is by far the best. course and teaching is very simple got a B+ and i barely did any work or readings. 10/10.
Great prof! Make sure to attend the class before a midterm, HE WILL GIVE YOU THE A FEW QUESTIONS THAT APPEAR ON THE MIDTERM/EXAM AS WELL AS SOME ANSWERS!!! He also recycles midterms, EXACT same questions and order from previous exams are used on new exams. This is a bird course, make sure to take it with this prof though :)
At first I took this class because I needed an easy A, but throughout the course I found myself falling in love with sociology. The prof is amazing! He's a great teacher and his expectations are clear. I went to every class, payed attention while taking minimal notes. I didn't even study much for the exams and finished with an A+ again awesome prof
Amazing prof. Very funny. Expectations are clear. What more do you want?
Super nice, super funny. We didn't even have a textbook.
Engaging lecturer and fair tests. What more can we ask for from a professor? A++, will do business again.
He is super engaging - tellement fun! Il présente la matière d'un façon unique et drôle.
Best prof I've had! Super funny, engaging and clear. He knows and explains the subject material very well and the exams reflect 100% what he teaches in class. Also, there's no textbook/readings, his exams are ridiculously easy, the exams (including final) are non-cumulative, and you'll love going to class. BEST CLASS EVER.
This class is super easy it's awesome. The teacher is clear and concise.
Professor Larose is phenomenal! He gets his point across in lectures, he's very approachable, and his reviews for midterms and exams are fantastic! The course load is perfect for a first year course! I would highly recommend this course and this professor!
He is very clear and goes over the same material multiple times. A very nice guy.
Amazing prof! So interesting and funny! Really knows his stuff, and doesn't just read off the slides. I would take any class if he was the prof.
Easy class, but well worth going to since the lectures are so interesting. It's also a good way to determine what social sciences you are interested in.
EXCELLENT PROFESSEUR!
Took his class hearing nothing but good reviews and they were right! Real funny guy and he has a way of explaining things that make it seem more practical than what's in the textbook (which isnt necessary btw if you attend lecture). The exams were easy, he prepares you in advance so you know exactly what to expect. Def my fav class to date!
I got a C in this class but that's only because I never did any of the readings lol. He is very precise and clear and I did enjoy the lectures. I'd recommend this class if you want to bring up your gpa.
This class is the best class in Uottawa. He is a very good prof. I hardly went to class and finished with a B+ . Highly recommended
He is hands down the best prof I have ever had. I am going to take every class he teaches. He makes going to class fun! If you can take this class with him, DO IT.
Fav prof! Really nice and funny, and made the class material really interesting . Gives a lot of hints for the exams too, definitely recommend!
Great prof! Super funny, adorable, and the class is surprisingly interesting! Slides are very minimal, so you MUST attend class and take detailed notes... but with this you are SET for the tests (don't waste money on the textbook). Very easy midterms and final.
Favorite prof by far. Super funny and his material is easy to understand. Gives the best midterm/final reviews. Highly recommend this course.
Got a c in the class but that's because I didn't care nor study lol. Hess great prof and engages well with students. Definitely would recommend him
Absolutely amazing prof !! I would definitely do the class all over again. He is super funny and really engages with the class. I finished the class with an A+. If you do your readings with him it's actually achievable!
I am in immersion and my French sucks, but even in French prof. Larose made this class super fun and enjoyable! EASIEST A+ of university! Doesn't use textbook, and slides have minimal text, so you HAVE to go to class, but that's basically it. Go to class, review for 30-40 minutes the night before the exam, get a killer mark!
Meilleur prof a l'Universite d'Ottawa. Le plus facile A+ possible, aucunes lectures, 2 mid term et un final. Si vous avez un cours au choix a prendre, c'est celui-ci!!!!
Hilarious, makes everything relevant and easy to comprehend. uses simple examples to make complexed concepts easy to grasp. is very understanding and personable. Very good Prof. HIGHLY suggest taking one of his classes if ever given the opportunity.
One of the best profs I had this semester. Lectures are great; he's funny, has good examples, and is super clear. His midterm reflects course material perfectly. Was super helpful and friendly whenever I had questions. Would totally take a course taught by him again.
Great prof! Attend lectures and take notes and you're good. The textbook is unnecessary, all midterm and exam questions come from his lectures. This being said, the slides he posts are minimal so GO TO CLASS. Also make sure to attend the class right before the midterm because he give you some questions!
LOVED him and his course. Very hilarious and interesting. I loved attending his classes. Can't complain about anything!
OMG! best sociology professor hands down. Very interesting in his lectures, uses many examples and is always making funny jokes! Loved this course, if you can take it with Larose and it will be that much better! Ps. go to his midterm review class!! he gives you some questions that are on the midterm.. very helpful
This is one of my favourite classes to attend, because he just makes it so fun, and is always trying to connect with and engage the class. Exams are tough, but no more than should be expected for first year, with the main hurdle being time management. The only prof who didn't make us buy a textbook. Very approachable, he's just really fantastic.
One of my favourite profs this semester. He is hilarious and makes lectures fun to attend. He does post his slides on BlackBoard and gives sample questions for the Midterms and Final only if you attend! Must know the content for the exams, can be a tough marker. Overall a really fun prof and would definitely recommend taking a course of his.
Great prof! I really recommend him. He uses slideshows but puts minimal information on them so go to class and take some notes. The class before every midterm and before the final he tells you a break down of the marking scheme and also gives you one of the multiple choice, and 2 of the short answer questions. So helpful. Also he is funny!!
One of my favourite profs! Super chill, and his expectations are clear. Really important to actually ATTEND his lectures because he puts like two or three words and random pictures on his ppts and then recites the actual content in class. Great class to take as an elective too, super easy A+ if you study. Take this class with him if you can!
Good prof, funny lectures and fair tests. His classes are big, so I had to speak to TA's to fight to grades who honestly told me they did not read some of my answers. His lectures are good but he does not clarify much. He gives reviews without much detail, but if you go to all of his classes and study you should be fine. NOT an easy A!
Horrible communicator takes weeks to reply to student emails!! if at all! Very likable in person, keeps the class interesting even though most of the material is fairly dry. Beware if your not a fan of group work, wrote 2 papers with a group in this class.
Easy enough course, barely study and still pass. Not the most helpful prof, often lets students talk for far too long and does not cover as much info as he should. Not the best sociology course nonetheless it's interesting and relevant.
I can't say enough good things about Professor Larose. His lectures were entertaining, he made sociology so interesting and he was overall just a really nice guy. Very approachable and down to Earth. Wish I could take another course with him. Exams were extremely fair. Favourite professor of university so far.
Best social teacher ever! He's amazing!
This prof has been my absolute favorite so far. Lectures are interesting, he's very funny and interacts well with the class. He gives us sample questions from the exam and he's just a great prof overall. Always looks forward to this class
BEST SOCIOLOGY PROF AT UofO! His lectures are great! He's always interacting with the students and making jokes. When you go see him for help for assignments he always gives good advice and feedback :) Workload is not that heavy either. Try to take as many courses with him... It's an easy A every time.
Prof Larose is really laid back and funny. Most lectures end early. However the class has no tests, it's only essays. TA was a very easy marker though. No textbook for the class, only a book from doc u centre
Probably my favourite prof! Made me fall in love with sociology and makes you think outside the box. His lectures are easy and fun to listen to. Exams are easy if you're good at memorization.
He is the best teacher I had so far! Very funny and he is passionate about his topics. If you go to his class you will pass for sure. I absolutely recommend him!!! :)
Wow! Excellent prof!
The prof is awesome! He makes lectures on Sociology much more exciting with his sense of humour and visuals. He's passionate about the course. I find the course packtextbook really helpful and can be used as reference for assignments and take home exams. If you have a strong group for group assignments, you're good! Go to classes and you'll be ok
Prof Larose is the one who inspired me to take a sociology minor. Couldn't have asked for more from him. Amazing prof!
Amazing professor! Conveys material effectively, thanks to his funny and interesting lectures. Course material is very easy and clear, although attending class is essential for good grades as some important information is not on his slides. As long as you study the lectures notes, you should be more than fine.
Great prof! His exams come straight from the lectures, so make sure that you go to everyone. That may not sound good, but he is an amazing lecturer! Always made me laugh! Also, he answers any question you may have for him and is always welcoming.
Hands down the best professor you will ever get in university. He is captivating, funny, knowledgable, passionate, expressive and mind blowingly good at teaching. I wrote every single thing he said in his lectures and I found myself laughing while studying! Be present at every class, he gives away word by word exam answers, just take amazing notes!
Stephan Larose is easily my favourite prof. His expectations are clear, he is an amazing lecturer, and interesting, funny movies are common.
Captivating and interesting lectures. Hilarious and gives everyone opportunities to speak.
In Larose French socio class. He rambles a lot on class, too many tangents. He gives vague definitions that he wants you to memorize word for word but he won't tell you. Examples from society are out of date and bizarre. So many better articles to mention. Offers no feedback on exams. Not recommended
The prof is really funny and keeps lectures interesting. You have to take good notes because some of his midterms and exams are made up of stuff he says in class but doesn't include in his slides. He gives out usually 2-3 questions for each midterm and the exam that will be on the tests and the exam to give you a good chance at passing.
Good class, clear professor. One of the TA grades very hard(beware), don't be afraid to get a second opinion about the grades you obtain. Memorize the concepts and definitions by heart and you'll do fine.
The course material was pretty dry however the work load was minimal. Make sure that you attend lectures and memorize definitions word for word or you won't get full marks. TAs tend to mark tough..
Pros: Basically all you have to do is sit there, jot a few points down, and you'll pass his class. He is definitely more interesting than your average professor, his mispronunciation of certain English words kept me listening in a funny way. Exam was so easy I almost burst out laughing. Cons: He doesn't fact-check; Cool facts academic accuracy.
He was hilarious and he gave us questions to the exam which was sooo helpful! I absolutely loved this prof. Would take any of his classes again!
This teacher was the best teacher I've ever had. Funny, loves what he's teaching and wants to help his students succeed. His tests are extremely hard, wants specific answers but I'd take his class anytime, nonetheless. You need to attend his class to pass because his powerpoints don't contain all the information needed for the exams.
Even though he post the lectures online he ofter says very important key information in class and does not include it in the slides. His classes are never the full 1h30m and are enjoyable. He is very easy for seeking help.
Incorporates humour into lectures for easy understanding and a more interesting class. Make sure you go to class or get good notes from someone, as he often says important pieces of information during lectures that aren't on the power points. 10/10 would recommend. No required textbook.
I loved this class, and Stephan is most likely the reason. He made the class enjoyable and was always making jokes and starting discussions. The only thing i didn't like about him is sometimes if you said something wrong, he would treat you like you're stupid in front of the class. However, midterms and final are word for word what he says in class
Great prof! He uses sense of humour to keep the lectures interesting. The students respect him when he talks and he repeats the important matierial very well. Also he gives the students an idea of what could be on the midterms/final exam.
Great prof!
cours interessant, examen troop trop dur a reussir
great teacher!
MUST ATTEND CLASS he gives important hints & doesnt post anything on blackboard. The TA's for this class are out to fail you (dock marks for EVERYTHING). Midterms & final definitions and essays. My class's average was in the 50's. Such easy material and the prof is hilarious and chill, but dont take this as an elective thinking youll succeed
Great prof and super funny. His power points don't include a lot of info, they're mainly used for visual aids so if you want a good grade, attend his lecture and take good notes. Don't skip class! As for mid-terms, they're straight-forward and he gives a few hints on what's going to be on it.
He's quite laidback and is understanding of students. He makes the class really enjoyable. Although not required, I highly encourage class participation. It makes the discussions much more interesting. TA's are a little tough, grading wise.
Larose was great, but his TA's were terrible markers. If you know that you answered a question fully and didn't get the full marks go after them, he's pretty fair. He always tries to keep class interesting and doesn't have any required textbook and is always really clear with what's on the tests. Take good notes and you'll do well in this class.
He's a great prof, easy to understand. His lectures are interesting
Funny, few assessments, very easy course. No textbook, exams not comprehensive.
Amazing prof. Must attend class since he does not give out all the info required for exams. Wright all the exemples he gives they are very useful for mid-sessions. No textbook required i bought one but never opened it. For exams.... memorize the defintions and exemples by heart.. They are very specific in what they are looking for.
Very funny! Doesn't assign a textbook which is nice because it's one less thing to pay for. Interesting lectures, you have to attend because his PowerPoints are fairly basic and he adds a lot of info verbally. Would 100% recommend.
doesn't prepare students enough for exams
This teacher is amazing, he really is. His teaching is awesome, participative. But, if you don't go to class, prepare to fail. His TA's are out for blood, very very touch graders. Exams are hard, you need to know everything by heart, get ready to study. Would recommend this class to anyone who really wants to work!
Larose is one of the best Sociology teachers you'll ever come across. important to pay attention because he gives lots of info that isn't on the powerpoints. No textbook required. His exams are simple if you learn the definitions by heart. On top of that, on the last class, he gives out sample questions that will be on tests! 100% recommend!
Interesting & funny teacher. Knows how to teach a very boring subject ! DO take EVERYTHING in note because his powerpoint have barely anything on them ( mostly pictures). His midterms / exams are all from what he says in class and some of the powerpoint such as definitions, will give out sample questions ahead. Memorization is the key.
Although he posts the powerpoints on blackboard, a lot of what he says during the lecture are not on them. His midterms and the final exam are for the most part based on the memorization of definitions, and the applications of terms. Before the exams, he gives a clear outline of what is expected on them since they're also non-cumulative.
The lectures were really interesting but the tests are difficult. He gives one hour and ask you so many questions that you keep writing from the beginning to the end without even getting a C. One question equals at least four questions and requires at least one or two pages. Tricky questions!!!
He's really funny! Has lectures that keep you interested and subject material is also pretty good. There are quite a few quizzes but they aren't terribly difficult if you study for them. He posts the PowerPoints on Blackboard but most of what's on the test is stuff he said in class and not on the powerpoint.
Great prof! Hilarious and have alot of funny stories in class. Must attend because he's leaving alot of hints in class in preparation for exams.
Amazing prof, would definitely take again! Very funny, passionate, and caring, if you don't skip class and take notes its an easy A.
He's great, his class was by far the easiest and my favourite of the semester. His lectures makes sense and his exams were not cumulative. There was no required textbook for this class. He is also funny and enjoys classroom participation which makes his lectures engaging
He's a great lecturer and available to help. Found that the midterm questions would be vague, are expected to write very specific info. No textbook, and is really entertaining. Class always ends up to an hour early and you must attend class (power points posted on blackboard barely have any writing on them) need in-class notes to pass.
really depends on the exams... first midterm i got a 30% second one an 80% so just be sure you know your stuff lol
There is one big group project (worth 40 percent). If you have a solid group it is an easy A. The midterm and final were both take home (midterm was much easier then the final was). Did not learn a single thing in the course, but it was an easy A. There is a course pack; however, not mandatory to read (but helpful for the midterm and final).
Amazing prof. Lectures are interesting and would recommend going just to get a better understanding and to takes notes of examples that aren't on his powerpoints. He is very clear on what will be on the midterms so there are never any surprises. Would definitely take one of his classes again.
No workload - only had 3 exams throughout the semester. The reading list and questions he would give out were optional. Gotta pay attention in class because his PowerPoints are really vague. He would spend a class before every exam going through everything we had to study. Really, really funny. He gives a lot of examples to illustrate what he says.
Amazing lectures, a class you don't want to miss because it would be the only class you'd love to go to. Very clear and understanding. Funny and a prof I'd love to take another class with.
Stephan Larose is a greta prof! Super engaging with his students and he's always cracking jokes. There's no textbook for SOC1101, so lectures are mandatory. He literally tells you what on his midterms, and posts the class notes. If you show up, you'll get an A.
Enjoyed class very much, he's always cracking jokes and the content is interesting. Attendance is mandatory cause there's no textbook and the powerpoints aren't always complete. He's very clear on what to expect on the test. I wouldn't say the test is very easy, but as long as you know your stuff like the back of your hand, you're good.
Absolutely amazing, easy A if you're looking for a cgpa boost. Highly recommend. He has 2 midterms ; both midterms he gave us almost half of the questions that were going to be asked. He is amazing and very knowledgeable.
The best prof I've ever had. Definitely recommend. Not necessarily an easy A (you should still study) but if you listen in class you shouldn't have a problem with the midterms or the final because he explains everything so clearly and makes it easy to understand
He's a good lecturer - very engaging. His powerpoint are sparse and there are definitely exam questions that weren't covered on the power point so you have to go to class and listen. Looks for a lot on tests to get marks as they are only short and long answer questions. Wrote more for this final than for my english one.
I'm in french immersion and took the sociology class in french. Loved it, he is a great teacher and knows how to keep his lectures interesting. Recommend going to the lectures and paying attention, makes the midterms and final alot easier. He explains everything extremely clearly and prepares you well.
Excellent professeur!
LOVED him. Always very prepared and organized. If you attend his classes, you'll get an A. Highly recommend!
this guy gets stellar reviews but i have absolutely no idea why since this is the hardest class i have ever taken and this prof is the by far one of the rudest i have ever met. took this class as an elective and that was the biggest mistake EVER
Really nice and funny guy! Made the class entertaining, but you need to attend because the slides are not enough information, he says a lot out loud!
Im an immersion student and decided to take soc 1501. He was very helpful and knowledge that there was immersion students in the class. He is very kind and approachable so if you have any problem or you don't understand something he will be happy to help. A tip i would give is to go to class and make sure you listen. the sides won't cut it
Nothing bad to say overall good prof, also gives sample question for all midterms and final, these questions are always on the exam.
What a gem of a prof!! He's super funny and tells great stories about his life. Very clear lectures, super passionate about his subject. Makes himself available for questions, easy exams, no readings. You have to go to class because his powerpoints are sparse.
Prof Larose was awesome! His lectures are always very clear and concise and gives great examples to explain topics. His slides are very vague so going to class is a must if you want to do well. His midterms were very fair and reflected his class notes perfectly. Overall, great class and prof!
Great (and concise) lectures, two easy midterms, and a relatively fair final. Slides are not super helpful, so although the lectures aren't mandatory they are extremely helpful. Funny and entertaining prof who cares about his students.
Would seriously recommend Larose's SOC for immersion first years. His french is very easy to understand and he does a great job at conveying material. Make sure you go to class or get notes from someone because only about 20% of the material is in the slides. He'll give you exam questions which is nice, focus on studying definitions and examples
Prof Larose has to be one of my favourite professors! Very funny and entertaining, also very articulate and nice enough to give exam questions beforehand. The Power Points barely hold any of the content in the lectures, so I would definitely recommend attending class.
He ´s the best teacher ive had this session and I ´ve really apreciated. Thanks for this beautiful experience en
Boring class where he reads his notes off a paper and doesn't really explain the concepts. Easy class to take but boring as heck.
Great Prof! I absolutely loved going to his classes! Really funny but you need good grades you need to attend all his lectures because his slides on brightspace are very poor.
Overall, the professor was nice and funny, but the tests had very few questions that were all graded very highly. Almost impossible to get all of the points.
Funny guy. Tells you 2 questions that will be on his midterms and exams and the rest of the questions you can find online on coursehero and notebro. His slides aren't detailed enough to get by so go to his lectures
I LOVED his class! Seriously so interesting, conveys the material so well in a way that everyone can understand. His examples were super interesting, and he was absolutely hilarious!! No textbook either! Exams are short & long answers but easy as long as you listen in class! Take a class with him, hes the best!
Dull but straightforward class. He's a decent lecturer. Usually ends class early.
Larose was a really good time - super caring and fun! Didn't use a textbook - so no readings. Make sure to show up though cuz his slides make no sense without him explaining them. Also go the classes before the midterms cuz he shares one question from each category. Generally, not a really heavy class and you'll do well with minimum effort.
I took sociology as an elective and heard only good things about Stephan. Glad to say everything I heard was right! He is super funny and easy to understand. He also gives questions that are going to be on the midterms and exams so that's super helpful. I HIGHLY recommend him as a prof!
An easy A for SOC1501 if you just show up and take good notes. The midterms and final exam closely reflect the course material and he even gives you 2 questions that will be on the test before each midterm and before the final. He also has one bonus question on each exam. Has a good sense of humour too. Would recommend if you want a grade-booster.
Mr. Larose is a great prof, he's so funny and has a great sense of humour. There is not enough information in his lectures to do well in the class therefore, you must attend class and take notes. Listen to what he says and write it down. Beside that you will do well, his midterms are easy, he gives you two questions on each exam.
The best prof I had in first year. There is not a textbook all from his lectures which you must attend as his slideshows do not make sense without what he says. His exams are super fair and come from the slideshows word for word, but your examples are from what he says in the lecture. Very interesting and super easy class.
his examples make concepts easier to understand and you dont really need the course pack, take home midterm and final were super easy and the group project portion really depends on your group but very easy regardless
Prof. Larose is one of the most engaging professors I've encountered so far. He does everything he can to help his students succeed (he will literally explain most of the exam questions beforehand), and uses very interesting examples and explanations. I loved his class and highly recommend it!
Such a caring prof. He couldn't prep you for exams any better. Lots of memorizing but he gives you hints of what to memorize for exams. Make sure you show up to class or else you're gonna have a rough time. Overall, one of the best teachers out there. He's very funny and will answer any question you might have.
An entertaining Francophone. He makes a lot of jokes, and they are actually funny. Had two midterms and an exam. He seems to be a really caring prof for sociology so I would definitely recommend him to all. Presentations are posted online so showing up for class isn't always mandatory. You learn a a lot.
Only attended class for the midterms cause my friend gave me her notes from last year but i would recommend going to class. Pretty easy to get an A since he legit gives u 2 of the questions that will be on the exams beforehand so i reccommend going to the last class before the midterm to get those questions cause he only gives them out in class
One of my favourite profs! He really cares about your success and gives you questions that will be on the midterms/final. His lectures are quite interesting as he gives good examples. You NEED to go to class to pass. He gives hints, examples and a bunch of information that is required to pass the exams. Overall 10/10 for me :)
Honestly, he was one of the best professor I have ever had !! And he's super funny
I looked forward to his classes every week. He is passionate about what he is teaching, and fills his lectures with jokes and personal anecdotes that help you really remember the material. He was an excellent teacher all around, and I would absolutely love to take another class of his!
Loved him! There were no readings at all, so all you have to do is go to class and take good notes. No assignments. As long as you provide the definitions/explanations exactly as he taught them to you, you'll get an A on the exams. As an Anglophone student in a French class, I really enjoyed the lectures and understood them well.
Great prof at UOttawa! Highly recommend you take his class if youre taking an introduction Sociology class. If you show up to class and take proper notes youll do fine on the exams. No textbook needed for his class either opposed to other intro soc classes available.
Très bon professeur, il est drôle et donne de bons exemples pour s'assurer que les élèves se souviennent des concepts qu'ils enseignent. Les examens sont facile si vous révisez et assister au cours, car il donne quelques questions d'examen à l'avance.
Prof Larose is amazing. He is extremely funny and continuously makes jokes, and he is really kind. Lecture material is easy and straight forward, but you need to go to class to take notes. Midterms are very reasonable and he gives at least 2 questions that will be on them ahead of time during the review.
Stephan Larose is a very chill prof and is actually super nice. He is very funny and knows what he is talking about
He is a really nice and funny prof. There is not a lot of course material and it is easy to understand. That being said, I found that the TA's marked pretty hard... I'd recommend going to his lectures though because the powerpoint slides contain extremely minimal information
Yeah, he's cool!
Prof Larose is an amazing professor! He is really caring and his exams don't contain surprise questions (he even gives the class some of the exam questions beforehand). I would definitely recommend taking his class for an easy A!
He looks like a nice person, and answers questions out of class The professor speaks and posts awkward things
Such a good prof!
Great prof, very entertaining and understanding.
Yes this prof. is funny guy. However,"outlines" for the exams are sooooooo vague and he does not give the Ta's any instruction on how they are marked. To the point that the TA's are marking us inaccurately and the entire class is doing poorly because the TA's have all the power and the Prof. is "too busy" to care.
very infromative, interesting and even though its online he seems approachable lol. One of the only classes where I felt comfortable to unmute my mic to speak. Very engaging, workload isn't heavy and grades fairly
This was by far my best professor in first year. He was super accessible for questions and was the most understanding of our circumstances. All of our grades came from take home midterms which reflected the class material and didn't require extra research apart from what was covered in class and he is a super fair marker. Definitely recommend!!
Extremely good prof! Very personable! Although this class isnt the most interesting I still enjoyed it because of him! His TAs this year gave NO feedback on anything.
Dr. Larose is a fascinating professor. He makes sure students know what is important. The only problem is all you are graded on is essays, which means it's not even really mandatory to watch each class because most essays are only about one class. Also, his TA's don't all grade the same way which makes it hard to know what to write to get an A.
Professor Larose is an absolute beauty. Although there were three take-home papers as midterms the instructions were very clear and if followed it's easy to get an A. I would highly recommend taking any of his classes as he is also funny and his lectures are interesting.
Lectures are pretty chill and fun and so is the professor. Always set aside to answer questions about the midterms and final exams unlike some of my other professors. I would recommend taking this class the only thing is the marking done by the TA's is sometimes inconsistent.
Very energetic prof and engaging with his students during online lectures. He did have more technical problems than other professors this semester, but did his best. The take home exams were simple, & usually asked for info from a certain lecture. The TA's all marked differently based on the vague instructions, & used their own interpretations.
Professor Larose is a decent prof. His lectures are all through Zoom but he posts the slideshows and recordings on Brightspace. I recommend listening to his lectures because you can ask questions if you're confused. He's a funny prof too. No reading/textbook is needed. He gave us 3 midterms & 1 final. All essays were easy and self explanatory.
Sociology class with him online and he is THE BEST PROF. His powerpoints are kind of useless because there isn't that much info on them but if you go to class he goes into more detail. We had two mid-terms which were essays based on stuff learned in class and the final exam was also an essay. Super easy and fun topics!
This mans is SO funny. Powerpoints are useless so go to class... you won't regret it! He's so knowledgable too. And funny! Did I mention he's funny?
Long live the legend. He's my hero <3
It was a great class! Honestly, you don't even need to copy his slides down it's more of a "listen then write 4 simple essays class". He's passionate and willing to answer student's questions.
Dr. Larose is a very accommodating professor. I enjoyed my time in his class. For this semester there were three take home midterms (he gave us a week to complete each) and one take home exam (he gave us two weeks). Although the TAs mark the essays, the prompts were rather easy. Solid choice for a sociology professor!
The TAs are a bit hard in marking but you can always get your papers regraded buy other TAs which will boost your mark if you explain why u deserve a better mark. The prof is great, but I found it odd that the he never replied to any of my emails throughout the semester but would reply to everyone else in the class.
Solid choice. At first you get lost by how fast he speaks, but you get used to it. TAs weren't bad for me, but I know for others marking is quite inconsistent. Prof does take forever to reply to emails, but answers questions at the end of lectures. Overall, an average experience.
all-around good class taught by an all-around good prof. we had three midterms and a final, consisting of one essay each. i didn't do great on the first essay but then made it all back when i met with the ta and better understood the grading scheme. it's easy to get >80 in this class and reasonably challenging to get >90.
This dude!! Before I took this class, I hated sociology, but this prof is so good and makes his lectures so interesting that I actually like sociology now. This prof could talk about the most boring things in the world and will somehow make them interesting to learn.
Stéphan Larose was my all-time favourite first-year professor! His class was very fun, assignments were fairly easy and the criteria for them was very clear. He is hilarious and can go on for hours. Also, he adds his personal stories to lectures and it is just great. I enjoyed his class!
super nice and funny guy, all his students love him. lectures are interesting and engaging, assignments are easy, and he doesn't enforce participation or attendance.
Take classes with this professor. The assignments are super easy and not time consuming at all.
He really seems to care about students and is relatable. He is funny and if you take notes and listen in class you'll get a good grade for sure. The grading criteria is clear so if you do what it says it's easy. Lectures are not super long and they go by fast. No outside readings required. I would definitely take him again.
Great prof! He does his lectures "podcast style" which doesn't work for everyone, but the essays can be written with almost only external research. Everyone I've talked to also had easy As. Interesting content and the essays are easy to write.
Vraiment bon professeur qui sengage avec les étudiants dans la classe. Il donne toutes les informations dans ses conférences, qui sont faciles à suivre. Les AT suivent ses critères de notation. Professeur vraiment facile.
My favourite teacher by far. He cares for his students and his lectures are hilarious, I would 100% take his class again. The material is easy and understandable if you know the basics.
He is an amazing prof, I don't regret taking his class. Would 100% do all over again. If you are thinking of taking this class DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3
guys hear me out... i am literally so dumb and lazy i swear to you i have zero brain cells but this prof is actually a blessing from the heavens. i barely put effort in my essays and got all A's and his lectures are so easy omg. he's actually funny and talks to his students. Wallah if you take him you're gonna love him, trust me fam!!
Given the reviews this teacher has, I had quite some expectations for this course. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed as the teacher never showed his face on screen, was making his way in classes through monologues and was unavailable outside classes. The T.A were really picky in their evaluations and the course material was quite confusing.
The classes were good. No readings. Tests were easy. Overall great class and teacher.
True that his lectures can be a bit boring, but he always records his lectures for people who wish to view his lecture faster. Very straightforward midterms, entertaining, and easily MOST memorable prof for his personality that is a whole vibe
A crazy left-wing extremist. He is a dollar store version of Bernie Sanders who does not know what he is talking about. The aim of his class is to mainly indoctrinate clueless students into his agendas rather than teaching sociology. Very poor at debating. But he is a nice guy in general.
He is the most amazing professor out there! This class is a major average booster. He is so funny and genuinely cares. The assignments are not overly difficult and they are clearly explained. Attending the class isn't really mandatory if you are down to do a little research for the papers! OVERALL, TAKE THIS CLASS IT IS GOOD FOR YOUR MENTAL HEALTH!
4 short exam essay through the semester that are really easy and can be written in one day i like this class more then i thought i would of, interesting to understand society Prof tells a lot of his life stories and interacts with his students always finishes a few minutes late
His class does not require a textbook, but his notes are not comprehensive and not clear enough. There are 4 exams in the whole course, and the writing requirements are too high. Do not recommend this professor!
I'm a french immersion student that took this course, his lectures can be hard to follow the lecture since he rambles on and his slides have little writing to keep it minimalist. Being a french immersion student I had to go back to rewatch all the recordings since I was unable to understand the course with him rambling onto other things.
Prof. Larose is a great choice for this course! His lectures are fun and engaging as he seems to love the subject and the students. Your mark consists of 3 midterm papers and a final paper, so no testing. The papers are relatively easy and enjoyable. I was able to get several perfect scores on the papers. Honestly, my favourite professor so far!
It's hard to listen to his lectures as he rambles a lot. He gets annoyed when students ask questions. Overall decent because the midterms and finals are very straightforward.
He is funny and his exams are pretty straightforward and not difficulty; i have learned a lot. Not regretting been in his class.
Professor Larose is hands down one of the best professor's at the University of Ottawa. He's so engaging and clearly cares about his students, he is very clear about what he wants on the assessments. We were graded on three midterms and a final, all of which were take homes and were very simple and clear. I strongly recommend Prof Larose to anyone.
The lectures were simple and not too heavy on content. 3 midterms and a final that was take home. We got 1.5 weeks for each midterm and 2 weeks to do the final which was more than enough time. Expectations were clear and it was not super hard to do well on them.
This prof is absolutely hilarious and his lectures are incredibly engaging, if you have a chance, you should absolutely take Sociology with him.
This guy is great. Loved his class, he really engages with the students and you can tell that he really likes his job. If you have the chance take a course with him (this one in particular was very interesting). Nothing but good things to say in comparison to a lot of my other profs.
pretty good prof. very engaging lectures, but they're very low on notes and 90% just him talking. the midterms and final are easy, take home and you have tons of time.
He only has 3 midterms and a hand-in final, the grading criteria are very clear and very easy to get a 100% on all of the assignments. His lectures aren't too bad, I'd definitely show up as he usually tells you pretty much the exact key points to include on your assignments. No extra work, very easy assignments and semi-interesting class.
Excellent vulgarisateur passionn
This prof made me contemplate switching my major to sociology. He has a silly smokers laugh. He made the course material very interesting with personal stories and relevant exemples. We even watched a documentary on oil in class. It was 4 assignments overall (directly related to what was taught in class). Also, no required readings! Lovely prof.
This class was fine. I took it as an elective and found the content extremely easy for a level 3000 course. There's a big group project, you'll end up submitting two papers as a group together valued at 40% of the final grade. If you have a solid group, you'll be fine. Prof can come off a little rude in emails but you can tell he means well.
Honestly, I found his class to be boring. Yes, it was very easy (takehome midterm/exam + accessible PowerPoints) but I learned barely anything from his lectures. I learned more from reviewing the slides at home on my own/google. He's a nice guy and he's funny, but there was no direction in his lectures --> no motivation to go to class.
Honestly a great guy, loves to make other people laugh and made going to class worthwhile. While he does mostly talk in class, he does take time to answer any questions you may have, and you can find him outside of class time pretty easily.
Engaging professor, only take home exams, and no readings. However, your grade highly depends on the TA grading your work: mine did not justify the marks he was giving me, and when I went to his office hours to ask for clarification he informed me that he does not give grades above 85% (no matter what). You should hope to get a more fair TA.
Prof. Larose made the class really fun and interesting (often using personal anecdotes). Go to lectures as his slides are mainly outlines and he provides a lot more info during class. All midterms and the final were take-home and graded by TAs (mine was an extremely fair grader). Midterms/final were very straightforward and fairly easy.
A great class I enjoyed attending.
This guy is so nice and makes his classes fun and easy to understand. Also he's a dilf
Very fun class, similar to HHS4U Families in Canada from high school. If you like writing essays and hate quizzes then this class is for you. There were three midterms and the final but they were all take-home papers we had a week to write. Prof is a bit eccentric and told us about the time he had a 3some(?) back in the day lmao
This prof is absolutley amazing at his job! Super passionate about the course material and provides very good knowlege on the material at hand. Lecture are incredibly structured and all material is avaiulable on brightspace. Course consisted of 3 take home papers (graded by TAs) and 1 final paper (also take home). Easy grade if you apply yourself.
Dr. Larose was entertaining and witty. His lectures were never boring, and there were never any problems with him. That being said, you are at the mercy of your TA. Some TAs grade more harshly than others and are not aware of marking criteria set by the prof. I had to go unreasonably beyond expectations in order to even get an A, unlike my peers.
Such a good teacher! Super funny and chill!
Amazing prof. Gives very good lectures. Taking notes on the slides is basically all you need for this class as he does not use a textbook. Assignments were three take-home papers and a final take-home exam; as long as you follow the guidelines, you should be good. So far he's one of the few profs I've had in which I would take another class with.
I felt very mislead by the RMP reviews. I took this class in English btw, which I know Larose is a lot different/better in French. Literally okay is the only way to describe the class. I was really excited for some fun lectures but everything was meh. There was not anything you couldn't get from reading the slides. He is not very accessible outside
3 midterms and 1 final (all take-homes). Does not post much on Brightspace so be sure to attend the classes and take some notes. The problem is the TAs. We had 3: one was great, one was good, one was so severe. This class is unfair in this way. However, the prof himself, even if he does not mark exams, is great. He may seem rude, but he's kind
My TA was a very tough grader for a first year intro class with no feedback other than "you didn't understand the concept" especially when the prof seemed so cool and chill. He also told us to only interact with his TAs as he had "way too many students" and you couldn't switch your TA which made me lose all my interest and motivation for his class.
Make sure you attend lectures and take notes, if you do that you will be fine. I took his class in English and found that his lectures were very easy to understand and he times them very well (we got out of class early most days). His midterms and final were all take home and followed what was taught in the course. Really enjoyed the class overall
I loved this teacher. His lectures are so well organized and detailed. We can clearly tell he loves what he does and he's really passionate. The exams are all at home, and you have a week to do it, which is amazing for us busy students. Also, they are quite easy to do and interesting as well. Highly recommend.
honestly best professor i've ever had i wish i could take him over and over again. all his midterms and exams are take-home and the instructions are so clear. he posts slides on brightspace and i notice his slides regarding the midterms are always really detailed. please do urself a favour and take him
Stephan is a great professor.
He's super chill, the TA's are easy markers too. The slides provide everything you need and the midterms are all at home even the final. He's funny n lowkey yaps a lot but it doesn't bother me
He's definitely a talker but it's funny sometimes because he's entertaining and doesn't go off topic. I would take him again if I could, amazing class!
Be at every single class, and start all your assignments on time -- then you'll get at least an A. Prof. Larose is the funniest professor I've ever had. Just make sure you 100% understand course material and stay on time with readings/work.
Professor Larose gives really engaging lectures, and is good at covering a lot of material in a relatively short time frame. There are only four assignments, all in the form of take home exams in this class, and all the information you need to complete them is contained within the lectures.
Great professor! To succeed is very simple... 1. Go to the professor's classes and listen. Everything important is on the slides. 2. Ask TAs for help for every midterm and the final exam. The TAs mark your work and may have varying preferences regarding how they would like your essays to be written, getting such input is beneficial.
Prof Larose was amazing!! This is a very good intro to soc class. Graded on 3 midterms each worth 20%, and a final worth 40%. All assignments are clear and expectations are spoken of in class. TAs were reasonable and honestly very generous. Attend as many lectures as you can because the slides posted online are vague. 10/10 recommend!!
One of the most entertaining and enjoyable lecturers I have had so far. I actually wanted to attend classes instead of doing so to pass. Assignments were not overly difficult; however, some instructions weren't clear initially. He is always willing to answer questions to clear up any confusing instructions. Beware group work.
Really good teacher
Made me like going to class, lectures are funny and interactive. One of my favourite profs.
Very funny and laid back, he ended class early almost every time. All the assessments are papers, but only 2-4 pages double spaced, so not bad at all. His slides are a little bare, but he explains things well in class, so your notes will be enough to fill in the gaps.
This professor is AMAZING! By far my favourite professor I have ever had. His lectures are short and concise and he uses lots of humour to engage students. Assignments are very fair and it is easy to succeed. Would 1000000% recommend it.
As a non-social science student, the content of this class was pretty hard to get through, but the way the course is set up makes it much easier: three take-home midterms requiring little to no additional research typed out over 2-4 pages and one final between 4-6 pages all double spaced. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a lighter class!
As a primarily french speaker giving english lectures, professor Larose remains extremely well spoken. He is caring, impartial and isn't afraid to say the truth. He will happily discuss with you outside of class and refer you to external resources while taking much of his time to answer any questions regarding sociology in general. Phenomenal prof.
Professor Larose is an engaging lecturer who makes the material enjoyable. The assessments are reasonable, and the TAs are helpful. Attending class is key, and using study resources like unstuckstudy ai can make the course a breeze.
No exam. Only papers. Easy A
Good professor, only 3 short papers mid terms and 1 final paper, easy class.
Super chill prof. Funny and entertaining lectures. No exams, just short 2-4 page double spaced papers which can be done in 40 minutes but you have 1-2 weeks for them. The guy's pretty funny and very relaxed. Gives all info on powerpoints he makes. Easy grader. Super easy to talk to even outside of class and always has good conversations.
This prof is nice and interesting, attendance isn't really mandatory slides are posted.
the course work itself was quite interesting as well as the midterms (3 take home papers). he is a great lecturer, very funny and oftentimes we finished class early. very difficult to reach the prof over email outside of class however. also, difficult to stay within page rec. and fulfill all guidelines. take this class if you can though!!
He was okay, I didn't find his lectures helpful and he would often go on tangents. Overall it was an easy class though
Will forever recommend this prof to everyone!
tres gentil, drôle, patient. examen facile a comprendre sans pièges et en format take home. important de prendre des notes en classe par contre
Nice prof and honestly very easy elective! All the exams were take home (3 midterms which were papers and final exam was take home as well). Make sure to take notes in class since there is barely anything written on his slides. Would 100% take this prof again!
Great Professor, highly recommend, take him if you can and he's funny and very understanding if you actually chat with him.
rude wouldnt recommend
best teacher all I gotta say
3 take home midterms, one take home final. He is very kind, very funny, very accessible and understanding. can't believe he has some bad reviews. it's not necessary to attend lectures, but you'd definitely want to. they're short and straightforward. would take this prof again in a heartbeat. also, has a cute accent lol.
Basically pay attention, if you took a intro course for SOC1101 everything will be famillar, I had him for 1101. Funny teacher and went mostly for fun, ( yes fun ) so take that as you will
Nice and funny professor! I liked his teaching method although the class wasn't the most engaging (methodolgy and research class). He gives very good feedback on assignments and takes the time to explain. The content studied was pretty easy, just go over his slides and listen in class for additional notes. 2 group projects and 1 final (all at home)
Great professor but the marking for papers depends entirely on what TA marks it.
Larose is a decent prof. He tries to keep his lectures interesting by making jokes throughout the class. The PowerPoints don't have much information on them. I found some of the topics for the papers unclear at times, but the grading really depends on the TA.
3 take home midterm papers and a paper final which were all fairly easy but I think the grading really depends on your TA. He is a funny guy and makes his lectures fun he also posts the lectures online so you don't really have to go. AVOID EMAILING said we could email with questions on the final and I got a rude response even though I was polite.
Easiest elective class to take. 4 essay style assignments is the first plus ( no exams ). His lectures were super engaging which made it easy to take notes. No textbook which is also nice, just show up and you'll do well!
I really enjoyed Professor Larose's class, despite the content being dry. He made a great effort to keep things engaging! Our grade relied on 2 group projects and an easy ish take-home final. The class quite manageable and appreciated his teaching style. Make sure you get a good group for the projects: mine was great, which made a huge difference!
I had this class during my first year, first semester. He does paper assignments and they are simple to do. He is every students dream to have a prof like him. Only thing a recomend is to attend his classes because all the important information are gonna be presented as the powerpoints won't be only the resource for a good grade.
I had this prof last year, first semester. He does paper assignments. In this class you are gonna be in a team to do a paper together and the rest they are solo. He's very simple and on point. I recommend to attend his classes as the powerpoints aren't enough to put in the full grade. He is every student dream to have a prof like him.
Vrm bon prof, cours intéressant
Funny guy, and is really passionate. His grading is fine but you don't get feedback so you don't know what to improve. Otherwise, I recommend this class
Easy class if you take notes because there is not much writing on slides. Both midterms were not on all the material in class and he tells you the class before what the subject for the (one or two) question is gonna be.
someone give this man the students he deserves!!! all semester, he gave passionate, funny, informative lectures to classes of 25% capacity. the workload is very manageable, and he's a super generous grader. A prof that absolutely makes learning fun.
Funny guy, makes his lectures very engaging, but if you're talking make sure you're not talking very loud during his lectures.Only issue (Which is not his fault) is that the TA's are extremely harsh graders, had to get my mid term regraded by my TA who gave me an additional 2 marks and when he regraded it himself I got an additional 5. Do reccomend
Super engaging and fun. Would def take again :)
I enjoyed taking a second course with this prof. He's a chill and sweet guy. Great lecturer too; he's always cracking jokes during lectures. Many people found attendance mandatory but he gives you the exact information and content you need in your assignments and midterms during the lectures.
A very funny prof. His lectures are both hilarious and informative
