Great guy!! If you have a chance to take him do so!!!
Simard is a great prof, but thinks that we should all be on the same page as him. So, he may drill you a few times, pay attention and expect him to expect a lot from you.
boring as dirt. Unfortunately, some of his courses are requirements... I pity you if you are in any of his dry and lackluster courses
have you seen this guy work out? wow! intense! he knows what is going on. He is a little rediculous in his expectations of 1000 and 2000 level students. his slides are practical. If you can avaoid it, don't have him for knes 2200 lab.
He is a great prof, he makes things clear and understandable. His slides are very informative but if you plan to just take the notes off the web and not go... don't expect to get a good grade. He adds more slides and side notes.
as far as knes 2200 lab goes, this guy is ridiculous. He expects everybody to understand every the first time and if you do something wrong on your computer, its a bother for him to help you... isnt that the point of teaching?
He is a boring professor, who is full on himself. Not much of a people person, tests are very hard, too bad his class is a requirement!
A really boring prof. Not very helpful at all, makes you feel dumb when you ask a question, and acts like it's a pain when you ask for help.
Makes you feel stupid when you ask for help, his Knes. 2200 lab is terrible. His class lectures are ok, although he has very high expectations from everyone.
This guy is a small man with a big ego. He takes joy in being an ass when marking assigments having given no warning as to what he expects on the assignments!!
Shitty instructor he is not even a prof!! He is an arrogant ass!!
Don't take his class if you don't have to, he is mean and yells at people with broken arms who can't keep up with the typing, and then doesn't help them afterwards, OR apologize.
Extremely knowledgeable but, although I can't put my finger on why, I just don't like him. But he is knowledgeable, fair and approachable.
he's pretty nice, its just hard to listen to anyone at 3 in the afternoon on a friday when all you want to do is go home and sleep.
This guy knows his stuff, but he's just all about himself.. he thinks that he's great, but im pretty sure he's the only one....
he's good very knowledgable.
this couse doesn't require a pre rec but it should. Don't take it until you have KNES 1000, 2110, and an anatomy couse. Pretty technical and requires alot of studing
Tough course, but use the office hours to ask questions and he will gladly take the time to clarify. Every other sentence seems to involve some sort of knock against bodybuilding and how 'disfunctional' that training regime is. Exams are fair - know your notes and practical applications. KNES 1000 and 2600 recommended.
Boring class, decent prof. He does know his stuff, but doesn't make it incredibly interesting for us listening. A little more enthusiasm would be appreciated and might make the course more interesting. Exams were okay, make sure you attend class as it really helps to understand the material vs. just reading it out of the text.
hes pretty good for a lab instructor, really knows his stuff. however, make sure you study everything for the lab exam, like all the models and posters, he'll test you on everything! nice guy, tries to makes jokes once in a while. kinda cute
He's a really smart guy, knows his stuff for sure, but kind of a snopoze fest. His voice makes for a good lullaby and is inaudible if he dopesn't wear a mic. Tests were pretty tuff and manditory is a must if you want to do good. +++Take his class with caution.+++
This was a fairly hard course. You really need to attend and pay attention during lecture. Ask him questions. He is a really smart prof. Knows his stuff. Just make sure you sit at the front so that you can hear him well. His voice is super easy to drown out.
Very tough course, you must keep up with studies. Wait until 2 3 yr to take. Simard is extremely knowledgeable in the subject but is fairly monotoned and long winded. Great class if u want to learn about it though
Makes you feel incredibly stupid when you ask questions. Very knowledgeable but not very helpful.
Not a very good teacher, tests do not reflect the course concepts fairly
Smart Prof, super boring class, and have to memorize pretty much everything in the notes and for what is said in order to do okay on the tests
Boring classes. Tough tests. No textbook but gives you powerpoint notes on webct. Will throw in slides in lecture that you don't have and won't help you out of classroom or if you miss a class (even if you miss a class because of a uni sports team)
Don't take a class with him if you don't have to. Studying for days hours on end will still only get you 60's if you're lucky in his class
Very smart, not a good teacher though. Tests are impossible to ace.
Terrible professor. Knows his stuff but has no interest in helping you learn it which is his job. Saw him during his office hours and he couldn't be bothered to help me. Seems proud when he announces on the 1st day that his class average is 65%. Shouldn't be teaching if he is not willing to make the effort to help his students do well in the class.
Shouldn't be teaching. Unfriendly, arrogant, and never willing to help you. Won't let you see your tests so for all you know he is grading them how he wants just to keep his class average low...doesn't matter if you are right or wrong. Don't take his class unless you absolutely have to. I spent days studying for the final and it destroyed me anyway
Simard knows his stuff but has a terrible teaching style. Studying for his tests is almost impossible. This class is difficult enough without him pulling test questions out of nowhere. The class average for the third exam was 40%. Really listen and even record what he says in lecture because questions on the test might be from an odd side note tha
Really smart but super boring lectures, at least half the class is snoring by the end of class. Tests are on irrelevant information for the most part - more questions on little nitpicky unimportant things than the big ideas. Would not take any courses taught by him again!
Smart guy
His tests are extremely difficult to study for. He does not give helpful study guidelines. Midterm class average was 55%. Bad.
He speeds through his lectures, not giving time for you to write down all of the info he spurts out and doesn't post all of his slides. Second half of the lab was ridiculous - based on memorizing models, not testing your knowledge of the human body. In my 5th year, 2nd degree & this is the first prof I've had who tries to sabotage his students.
In the world of science based Kinesiology, the man is a god. He knows his stuff, and will answer any question you throw at him, during or after lecture. He is going to push you and make you work for every percent, he's a hard ass and if you don't like it, go take an english class. His tests will kick your ass if you don't study, but it's worth it.
Doesn't post notes, goes fast, tests on little things he might only mention in passing. He is known as the toughest prof in KNES. TONS of people take anatomy at the college and transfer it just to avoid him. Class avg. is like 50%. You will need to memorize ~800 flashcards worth of material to ace this class. Be prepared to work harder than ever.
Sure, the class is tough, but there is a lot of material to cover. He pushes you to really make you know your stuff. I think he's really fair; you have to be prepared to work your butt off, but I loved the class and the labs.
Study lots.
This class is quite interesting, but very difficult. If you do go to his office to ask a question or review an exam, he is very belittling.
He is too smart for his own good and it should NOT be a required course for KNES BA students. Also, should be an equivellant to at least a 3000- 4000 level class. He should stick to research!
The worst prof I've ever had. Will test you on literally anything mentioned even in passing. Offers absolutely no help outside of class. Told me I received a 0 on a quiz with a smile on his face. Take anatomy anywhere else and transfer it over if at all possible, I'm having trouble understanding why he is a teacher when he clearly hates students
This class will kick your butt if you do not put in 110% effort. Attend every class and write down everything he says. He will test you on anything, and make sure you study LOTS!! That being said, you will do fine in the class. As a 4th year student, I did find it very tough for a 2000 level class with no prereqs :/
Genius. Classes are hard but if you make sure you keep up and know what your talking about when you go ask him questions you can learn a lot from him. Course load is heavy with extensive memorization (its anatomy DUH).
I don't mind this class. Make sure you understand the curriculum well before exams - his tests are quite extensive and SHOW UP TO CLASS. He goes over a lot of in depth info that is missed in just the powerpoint slides, and occasionally he gives out exam q's. Overall, I enjoyed this class. he has a strange sense of humour, but it's refreshing.
He does not understand that these classes are 2000 level classes. Tests are beyond what is actually needed to go further in knes. Enjoys seeing students not do well. Very frustrating prof, puts trick questions on tests.
In my 5 years at the U of L, I found Simard to be the most boring, hard-to-listen-to professor of all. His tests were excruciatingly difficult, his lectures were a huge dump of info with no guidance on what to focus on for tests. I am a near straight-A student and I got a B- in this class. TRANSFER AN ANATOMY COURSE IF YOU CAN!
Be prepared to give this class all you've got, and don't take 4 other classes and 3 labs with it like I did!!! Simard is a friendly professor when approached but his lectures will put you to sleep, only after you get frustrated from missing 12 of the info on the slides as he goes way too quickly through it. Used tons of outside resources to pass.
Tough grader and it's not very helpful when he's not clear in what he wants you to do. He's very smart but tough to please. The texts he gives you seemed irrelevant to the course and questions on the test. Quite boring to listen to. Be prepared to type fast and hard, he speeds through the lectures and power points in class, he doesn't post online.
Anatomy is not an easy class and simard definitely makes you work for a good grade. Make you write down everything he says in class, as he tests on little random things he may have mentioned in class. He does seem intimidating but when you ask for help, he helps a lot. Also get to know him on a personal level, makes class a little better.
Stephane is tough, no question about it. It's all memorization. If you do the work (daily review) it really isn't that bad. He is really helpful if you seek the help. Attend class and take notes-- he does ask for things on tests that he only mentions briefly in class, but it's not impossible to do well. Don't expect it to be handed to you.
His exams test on random factoids. Expect very specific fill in the blanks. All memorization. Be prepared to put in an A+ effort and be lucky to get a C..
Worst teacher I've ever had. Hands Down. Horribly boring but incredibly hard tester. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Incredibly boring and also hard to follow during lectures. He tests on random little facts and the quizzes often left out main concepts for these little facts.
monotone lectures where its very hard to follow along. The class is a 1000 level but he treats it identical to his 2000/3000 level classes. The first midterm had a 51% average. Read the slides and memorize them and every picture on them and you will do fine. Would highly recommend taking this class with any other professor.
This class is super boring, he speaks monotone the entire time. Be prepared to read the textbook front to back as well as memorize every single slide. The tests are really hard as well, fill in the blanks are really specific. Be prepared to put a bunch of effort in and not get a high mark.
Monotone, and reads straight off slides. Test are heavy with information and you basically teach it all to yourself
This teacher is the worst teacher I have ever had in my entire life. He makes the class so boring by being completely monotone, be prepared to go to class every day even though you probably don't want to. He makes the hardest tests and then grades them harder. Be prepared to read. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! (Take it at the college if you have to)
Avoid this professor at all costs, unreasonable grader and difficult exams. Just because you go to class, read the textbook and study does not mean you will even get a B. Treats students with expectations that would be expected at the end of graduate school not as a second year undergraduate course. Tests on questions asked in class he can't answer
If you don't have to take his class DONT. Extremely hard tests and boring lectures be prepared to do a ton of work and studying for his class to get hopefully a 60%. He's a smart guy thats no doubt but he expects you to be at his level of intelligence on the exams.
Stephane is an incredibly smart man however he is one of the worst profs i've ever had at this university. I though anatomy was hard with him until I took human phys with him. He constantly corrects himself making it hard for the students to know what is the correct answer. DO NOT TAKE HUMAN PHYS WITH HIM.
He is smart but he is very boring to listen to. He talks very fast and doesn't repeat anything he says.
Very good at teaching, he sure knows his stuff. But his tests are ridiculously hard and long. A lot of memorization. Be ready to study.
Very smart, but not a very good professor. Lectures are boring and goes into significant detail, especially for a 2000 level class. Some of the most difficult exams I've written so far. Would recommend avoiding if possible.
Lectures are beyond boring. Makes it hard to attend, but they're mandatory; after missing 1 class you're docked 2% of final grade each time. Tests are hard + long, assignments marked ridiculously and pop quizzes always seem to line up with every other classes midterms (3 worth 5% a piece). Give 100% or he docks during workouts. Do not recommend.
If this is your first time taking this class be prepared to fail. Test questions are based on what he says in class. He corrects himself in class which makes it hard to know whats right. Ive heard he is under review, why hasnt the school done anything about it.
Smart
Simply just rude and disrespectful to students
Not a fair test giver, you can study for days and still fail his tests. He blows through the slides, barely letting you write anything down. Disrespectful and unfair ro students, ive had multiple classes with simard and its worse overtime. I honestly dont know why he still teaches at UofL, not one student i know of has had a good expereience
Stephane knows his stuff inside and out. BUT, he includes every single detail in his lectures, and then tests on those details more than the bigger concepts. It's a hard course, so don't take it unless you need to, and then be prepared to study literally every single day.
By the time the final rolls around, half the class will have withdrawn. It is tough. If possible take this one with 1 or 2 other classes that don't require much, and attend all labs (they are a booster) Simard likes to test on random little factoids that were a one off mention in class, and won't usually ask big picture Qs. Got to put in the time.
Stephan is one of the worst profs Ive ever had during university. He told our class the first day he knows most kids will fail, and doesnt care one bit. He is rude and doesnt seem to realize students actually need to do good in his courses. Avoid him at all costs. Hopefully the university will get there stuff together, and get him out soon!
Was nervous for this class, but if you're willing to work you are OK. This class is HEAVY, but thats a given with the nature of anatomy/physiology. Its lecture heavy, show up for class. Type notes onto slides, read the chs (twice if you have to) and start flash cards after day one. Keep up and you'll do well. Studied a little every day and got 80%
This is university, do the work and you'll get the grade. He tests on things he says in class, and textbook information. Be there to get the notes and read the chapters. Use WileyPlus, take the quizzes and prepare yourself.. Stephane is fair, and extremely smart. Pay attention! Take during an easier semester.
Stephane is the worst prof ever. He legit doesn't care if you fail . I went to see him and he was not helpful at all , basically told me I was stupid. Our midterm class average was a 50%. Honestly worse professor ever and would not recommended him to anyone.
Although he is very smart his lectures are very boring and he adds in random unimportant notes. His tests are the hardest things Ive ever taken and our class average after the midterm was below 50% and over half the class dropped out. That being said if you start studying for tests three weeks in advance for many hours a day you might be ok.
He really doesn't seem to care about his students, and gets frustrated when no one answers his questions. He doesn't take enough time to go over things, and tests really hard. The fill in the blank notes are helpful, but be ready to study a TON! The class average was pretty low on all exams, especially the second one.
okay at teaching theory, but terrible at the biomechanics math section of this course. My grades were okay going into the last exam and I almost failed, it was so hard. Extra help during his office hours doesn't really help either. Overall, just not a great professor. heard he's under review. Sorry if you have to take this class with him! good luck
Very rude, does not care about your mark. Office hours do not help. Only reason I passed was because of the lab with Natalie. Good luck y'all.
Ive heard lots of bad things about this prof, however I think he has really improved. He is very nice. He gives you practice questions to help with exams which really help. He is a little boring to listen to, but if you do pay attention, his stories and examples do help to clarify the material. Have to go to class otherwise you will not do good.
Not really sure why everyone complains about him, he's one of the best profs I've had so far and he flows through lectures as he clearly knows what he's talking about. Obviously you're going to have to put a little bit of effort in, but his tests are fair. If you don't pay attention it's going to be a struggle but its really not that bad.
First year of University, he's the best professor I've had so far. I'm disappointed at some of the feedback on him. He's without a doubt one of the smartest people I've met, knows his stuff from back to front. Tries hard to involve students and creates his tests fairly based on lectures, so, show up like you're supposed to do and you'll do great!
bad professor marks very hard and when you go to ask him questions in person is answers are very broad and not helpful at all. tests were very hard and his notes help a little but he's not very helpful when it comes to telling you what to study. the course consists of 3 quizzes, 1 midterm, and 1 final and 2 assignments. can be rude at times!
Unless you have to take this course for you major, do not take it. There is only tests so options for making up grades. Tough marker and it doesnt seem like he cares about the success of the student.
It's really sad to see all the negative rates for Simard. He is BY FAR my favourite professor. It is very clear he is extremely knowledgeable in this field and he's always willing go over questions ! It's definitely not an easy course but thats not his fault, he makes his exams very fair, so if you show up and put in the effort you'll do great.
Timed Test every 2 weeks up to about 30 question. Labs every week or biweekly. Used textbooks for the ch questions before test to study. He was actually pretty kind and knew alot. Clearly answers questions and very patient when it came to trying to explain topics.
Very horrible, his lectures are very unclear and very hard to pass the class
