This is an overall easy class. You have unlimited attempts on the homework, which may take a while but you are guaranteed an A if you put in the time. There are 2-3 quizzes a month but they arent too hard. Exams are easy if you study. Only bad thing is she occassionally talks to the class like they are in middle or elementary school.
Very helpful, really cares that her students understand the material and helping in their success. Will be taking her again for 170 and 260. Assigns graded homework which helps a ton, goes over the HW to check for understanding. Uses mymath which is excellent for learning. Excellent professor.
Absolutely TERRRIBLE!!! She had the sweet yet rude attitude and treated you like you were retarded. She acted as if you did not know how to add or subtract let alone divide and multiply. Wanted to yell at her and leave at every class. The exams were very easy but her rude, better than everyone else attitude made me truly hate her.
Going into the class I thought it was going to be a great class. However she is not clear and does not fully teach all of the information. DO NOT TAKE
Really nice professor! incredibly outgoing and had names down right away. I knew all of the information taught from high school but 50% of the test was without a calculator. If you are reliant of your calculator this is not the class for you! But if not you will do fantastic and love the class. The homework grade is an easy 100 w/ unlimited tries
She's really nice! But if you don't understand algebra, you won't learn it here. She doesn't explain problems very well and doesn't have much patience. Homework is online and easy, quizzes are open note, and she gives you study guide for tests. I recommend her she really is nice.
Great teacher if you listen and study for the tests. I usually dozed off in class but wrote all the notes down then studied before the tests and ended up with an AB. If I put in more effort I could have achieved an easy A. In my opinion tests are straightforward and easy if you know the material
Explained the material very well and was very helpful. Would highly recommend her.
stephanie is super duper nice probably one of the sweetest teachers ive had. this class can be kinda tough but if you pay attention and do the homework the tests arent too bad! highly recommend taking her
Took Prof Branham for Precalculus my sophomore year. She's a really great teacher, especially if math isn't your strongest subject. I'm decent in math and I'm doing really well in the class. If you're not strong in math, take her class, she's really helpful. There is homework online but nothing terrible, easy points. Overall really sweet and nice!
The class she teaches is very boring, but professor Branham tries her best to be clear and generally keeps everyone interested.
She's a good teacher. Everything is very clear. My class didn't participate much and people didn't show up a lot, so she'd get frustrated. She walked around the room to see if anyone needed help. Tests were do-able the only reason I didn't well was my own fault, I didn't bother to study. I would take her again for sure. She wants you to understand
i wish i could have her as may teacher for calc 2 and 3
This class was a joke, I basically took this class in high school and it was the exact same.
Super sweet. Explains things clearly.
I had her for Calculus I, and even thought I hate math Calculus was the exception probably because of her. She gives a review at the beginning of every class, therefore you won't be lost. She gives homework but not for grading, only for practice (DO IT). The quizzes and test are with problems from HW or done in class. Best math professor!!!
She is one of the best math professors. I have done math all my life so I know a good math prof when I see one. Gives extremely clear and detailed notes that takes you step by step. Her tests contain no surprises and only come from the material that we have been taught. She is always alert, positive, and ready to teach. Amazing!
She's very helpful and really wants you to understand the material. There are a few quizzes but she lets you know ahead of time. The class is hard, but she's not making it impossible as long as you do the work. I would totally take her again.
She is super great! Teaching math can be hard, but she definitely gets the job done. She looks for feedback on what you know or need to go over and always has review sessions before tests and has a very clear syllabus she hardly waivers from. Would definitely take her again she's awesome.
Professor Branham is a good professor. Her test are extremely hard if you're not excellent at Math. They consist of T/F, MC & short answer. There's 3 test 7 quizzes and a final. She drops the lowest quiz grade and if you score higher than your lowest test grade on the final she replaces that grade. She is NOT an easier prof. but she is considerate.
I thought the material was easy. All her test have true and false which I don't think is needed for a math test. Her style of teaching doesn't make it better I thought I was back in 9th grade Algebra class instead of a college classroom learning environment. HIf you have to take her . Take her but I would recommend another teacher.
She is amazing, if you have the opportunity to take her, please do! I've had very few great math teachers, so I know a great math teacher when I see one. She explained things step by step, and really cares that her students do well. If you don't do well, it's because you didn't show up or didn't care to try. She is one of the best professors at UT.
If you're not the best at math, she's the professor for you. Seriously the best lecturer for math I've ever had, and I took calc at 8 AM. She's also super nice. Weekly MML hw, no projects, quizzes, very clear on what will be on exams. She gives tons of partial credit on exams, as long as you try. 100% requires showing up for class though.
Be prepared to do a lot of homework and participate.
If you usually don't excel at math, Professor Branham the professor for you. She carefully explains all material, and treats all questions as a good question. We had weekly hw, no projects, quizzes, and very clear exam requirements . She gives partial credit on exams, as long as you show that you know the given concepts.
Branham is a very nice teacher. She is very understanding and easy to work with if you need to make something up. She cares about her students and makes sure they understand the material. Quizzes are easy but the tests can be difficult. She reviews for tests the day before but it seems like the tests are way harder than the review was. Study
Her lectures are really thorough, the way she explains the material really helps when doing the tests and the homework. There is a lot of homework but its all online and due at the end of the week. If you take detailed notes and study the tests are manageable. Definitely one of the best math professors I have had.
She's very enthusiastic. The lectures are helpful, but the exams are very short and hard to do well on. The homework is all online and is pretty easy. If you don't do well on the exams, you won't do well in the course. She is very helpful, but you definitely have to practice A LOT on your own outside of the class to do well.
Look for another professor
No extra credit. exams are hard. good luck
Professor Branham explains concepts extremely well in class. (4)Tests count as 85% of grade, (6) in class quizzes as 10%, and homework counts as 5%. This is a very difficult class to begin with, but as long as you show up and spend lots of time practicing on the homework, you'll pass.
Mrs. Branham is very loud and bubbly. If you take her class in the morning it will be quite... awakening. Shes good at explaing but she goes so slow sometimes it gets really boring. Youll have an online homework due every Monday along with occasional quizzes in class. Calc is a difficult subject so be prepared to go to every single class.
Professor Branham is very bubbly and overall a good teacher. There were a lot of homework assignments online but she went over everything in class, so if you pay attention the homeworks are easy As. I would definitely recommend her to anyone taking college algebra!
I highly recommend takin any other professor for Calc besides her. She gave 1 extra credit assignment the entire semester worth 10 points on a homework which only counts as 5%. Her tests are so hard and she doesn't make a review or anything for you. Very hard to get higher than a B in this class. The final was hardest test I haven taken in college.
Her tests count way to much and they are extremely difficult. Do not take her for calc! She's nice but she uses complete different examples on test than she shows us and gives so much homework online every week.
She is the best math teacher I've ever had. If you put a little effort and review the quizzes, you'll do amazing on the tests. For the final, the only study you have to do is review the previous tests. Easy A if you at least try.
Homework assignments due weekly, I dont know why people complain they are really not that hard. The test are very similar to the quiz and there is always a review. She is super nice and taught the material well. I am normally not good at math and I got an A and put minimal effort in and skipped classes occasionally.
Minimal effort will get you a good grade but no effort will get you a bad grade.
Awesome person and teacher!
I suck at math, literally so much. Fail all my math classes, failed college algebra. This professor is literally a GEM! She is super sweet, easy to follow, and makes everything clear. I am not a try hard and this class was a breeze. Just show up, and actually pay attention. Homework due every week on Monday. SHE'S THE BEST! Very helpful and honest.
She is great at explaining different topics and is extremely easy to follow. Also, she is a great person and cares about her students and wants them to understand everything! Best Math teacher I have had.
Class is pretty much review of algebra in HS, homework is easy and quizzes/tests are very fair. Just do your homework, pay attention in class and you will be fine!
this professor knows the material well but she teaches pretty fast. you can tell she wants you to do well but sometimes she makes you feel dumb by the way she responds to questions. it makes students less likely to participate in class and go to her office hours. there were 3 tests but quizzes are at least once a week so those tanked my grade
Cares about her students and is willing to help and take the time to make sure you understand the material. Explained concepts really well and in a way, that was easy to understand. Would definitely take again.
She's super nice and is very good at teacher. She gives quizzes that are similar to the test. I would definitely recommend Branham.
Absolutely love professor Branham. Teaches the content very well and will let you drop your lowest quiz grade at the end of the semester. She's always in a good mood and will love to help you even with the smallest of issues. Quizzes about every 2 weeks. 3 exams over the semester. Would def take her again!
Professor Branham is a really good professor and she cares about her students. During the online schooling she is super accessible and she will call you out if you slack in her class but its just because she wants you to succeed. The class is easy but it is exam heavy. There are only 4 exams but they are about 85% of your grade.
She makes you feel so dumb if you get the question wrong. Thinks her class is the most important. But she's always around to "help" you if you need it.
Professor Branham is good at teaching calculus, but she is a bit passive aggressive and shady. Will insult you while smiling in your face. I learned a lot in her class with calculus but has a mean high school teacher personality that makes you not want to take her.
She is a really good choice as she is willing to help you with any question you have, you just have to ask them. There are weekly homeworks but they really aren't that bad. There are about 8 quizzes but as long as you pay attention to the lecture and do examples you'll be fine. There's a review before each of the 3 tests and tests aren't too bad.
Prof. B is very easy to follow and tries her best to clear up the material as much as possible. She gets kinda mad if you arent prepared in class or dont know the answer to her questions but if you just get past that she is a nice teacher and very helpful.
Professor Branham is a terrible professor. Her quizzes and homework are worth 20% of your total grade. The exams are very tough. I have never ever been close to failing a class in my entire life, and this is the first time I have been. She moves way too fast through the material and is overall a bad professor. Nice lady, bad teacher.
One of the worst god damn teachers I've ever had flys through lessons and is passive-aggressive not to mention gives no consideration to the times we are in and will force you to be in person. Unless you are mathematically inclined and already are good at calculus do not take her 3 test are 60% of your grade and they're insane no study guide given.
Calculus is already tough, and combine that with a tough professor and you got a real pain in the ass. Class is very test heavy, with little to no extra credit. You have 9 quizzes, one basically every week. Flys through the materiel with no consideration for those who are not mathematically gifted. If you do not know calculus already, stay away...
I used to think Math wasn't my thing until I had her. Although it is true that sometimes you view a lot of materials in class, if you play attention and participate I guarantee you will understand everything. She explains really well and somehow puts everything in the simplest way possible. I really like how she teaches!
She is helpful at the beginning of the semester. Once you get past mid-terms she starts to flake out. She is not understanding outside of the classroom. If you don't understand a concept she will out you in front of the class. Honestly is not there to help, just there to lecture. She will fly through the material and expect you to know everything.
This professor was good until the drop period for classes. She had really good lectures and was very passionate about calculus. But now she hardly teaches and half the time she is walking around to see if you are doing the examples after barely teaching the concept. She will embarrass you if you are confused in front of the whole class. Stay away!
This teacher does not care about you or your grade. Will try to do anything to take point off or fail you. Covers twice the amount of content as other classes. Avoid at all costs.
Would never recommend her class to anyone. I would actually cry out of frustration in her class. I had to withdraw due to the difficulty. She does not care about your grade at all. She is not a help when you ask for help. You learn 5 lessons in one day, and a quiz the next class. To me that is not enough a time to learn and practice content.
Literally I would never in a million years take her. She does not care about her students in any way. She thinks that you are a mathematician, and teaches so many lessons in one day. You basically have a quiz every week, even if you have the class twice a week. Don't know how someone can get a good grade when there is barely no time to practice it.
Prof B was very a good professor in my eyes but I had friends that did not like her. The class was just taking notes and most stuff I already knew from High School algebra classes. She was there to help whenever you needed and you could use an index card on the exams. We had weekly quizzes and homework due every Sunday and before quizzes.
Professor B made Calculus very easy to understand. Quizzes every week, but they are not difficult, and she drops your lowest quiz grade. Always responded to emails, and is easy to meet with during her office hours. As long as you do the homework and go to class you should be fine.
Professor B was amazing! There is homework each week and you get multiple attempts, so it is super easy to get a good homework grade. You get to bring a flashcard of notes to each exam and she does review before. She is really kind and clearly cares about the students. As long as you show up and make sure you understand the content, it's an easy A!
She's a really good teacher and breaks down all the material well for algebra. She's kind of particular about a lot of things like going to the bathroom. There's a quiz every week that you can't make up if you miss and you get an index card cheat sheet for the tests. Homeworks are heavy and take a while but help in the long run
Professor Branham was overall a good professor. If you miss class, however, it's hard to understand the notes sometimes because she goes really in-depth with note taking. You should do fine if you study the notes and do the homework for any quizzes and tests. Biggest tip: don't skip her class if you want to do well.
Prof B is GREAT! Her class isnt hard but she is condescending sometimes so I understand why ppl dont love her. I like the way she teaches and her notes are very clear. The hw is annoying but that's pearson & not her. She gives us test corrections after every exam and TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OFFICE HOURS! It's so easy to individual get help from her
I was nervous after seeing Professor B's reviews before taking this class, but she's actually really sweet. She can be a bit sassy at times, but as long as people answer her questions and follow along, it's not bad at all. She frequently gives quizzes, but she explains them before you take them. Lectures are heavy, but thats to be expected.
She is simply one of the greatest math professors I've ever had. She really cares about her students and she's passionate about making sure everyone understands what she needs us to know. She provides really good feedback on everything and grading was fair. Only bad thing was the online homework but that's a Pearson problem, not her.
Took her for algebra and business calc and she's a really good teacher. Breaks down material and is always willing to help students. You have to participate in class but it helps. There's a lot of quizzes but it helps you get ready for the tests. There's a lot of online homework but it's all due right before the exam so you have a lot of time.
She's not the worst professor but not the best either. Her teaching style is alright, gives you a pretty good understanding, and would let us use a notecard on the test. My biggest issue was that she was extremely passive-aggressive and treated her students like high schoolers.
I love professor branham! She can be condescending at times but all she really wants is for her students to succeed! If you go to class, answer the questions (so participate) the class is super easy and manageable
One of the meanest teachers i've ever had in my life, will make you feel dumb when you don't understand something. If you're a bad test taker you will do bad in her class. So much homework and it plays barely any part in your grade. So passive aggressive, avoid at all costs.
She goes very quick and tests are HARD. You have buy pearson which is $80 but its online so you can cheat. I did everything I could to pass this class(sat in front, took notes, went to every class, attempted to meet with her) but she did not make it easy to understand. If math comes easy to you take this prof.
She is a good teacher and always tries to be extremely nice. The quizzes and tests are not cummulative except for the final. She can be passive agressive but overall is just a good teacher. The homeworks are all online and besides that it's just tests and quizzes.
this prof does not want you to succeed. if you miss a quiz she wont let you retake it. she is rude and wants you to fail. i have never rated a prof before but she sucks
She has an attitude if you do not understand the content in her VERY rushed lectures. She puts on a fake smile until she shows her passive aggressive attitude. Many quizzes, 4 exams.
Unless you wanna suffer dont take this class. Takes points off if she feels like it, no sense of understanding either. Horrible professor.
Professor B. was great! The pace of the class was slow and boring, but that is like any math class. The slow pace helped though because she made sure everyone knew the content well. Make sure that you put yourself out there and make her know you because she likes that. She will help if you ask for it. I Recommend!
not nice, she isn't understanding and likes to give quizzes and pop quizzes. tests are very hard and even if you go for extra help, it doesn't help at all. don't take her class.
Although she acts very nice she is very passive aggressive. Overall, if you need to take her she's not terrible and that is coming from someone terrible at math. Just be prepared to be in her class the hour and 50 minutes and to put in a lot of effort. She is available outside the class but will make you feel stupid and worthless.
She was great! I was not good at math in high school but her slow pace and thorough notes helped me succeed so much. I participated on the first day of class and sat in the front, this matters. About 4 exams and 7 quizzes throughout the semester. Homework has unlimited attempts, great grade booster. Always helpful and great at explaining.
If you suck at math, don't take this class. She gives so much hw that is due right before the test. Tests are hard and she often attempts to trick you on. Gives you condesing looks if you don''t know the answer. Don't expect ever not have class. Also, if you skip more than one, it'll be hard to pass.
Class was very easy for me. Taught at a very slow pace so if you aren't great at math, I would take her. Some things she makes confusing for a new learner but very easy to look up the simple concepts online. Many people in my class struggled.
I got a C/D in all my other classes except in her class I got an A because I tried really hard. She's so charming I loved listening to her explain things to me. It is what it is.
I had professor Branham for her Spartan 100+ class. She seems caring and positive on the outside, but when it comes to communicating with her (especially in regards to out-of-class matters), she often responds in an unprofessinal and rude way. I would personally not reccomend her, simply because she makes classes and meetings seemingly unenjoyable.
This teacher is very nice but she's horrible at actually teaching. I'm usually so good at math and succeed by the end of the semester but omg I couldn't understand anything. I barley passed this class even when I put hours of studying in and went for extra help multiple times. If you can get someone else do it!
I took her for two semesters. As someone who was never great with math in high school I dreaded taking business calculus but her curriculum was easy to follow along with, she was very professional. Her quizzes are very easy and her study guides are always harder than the tests.
Don't understand why her ratings are low. Professor B is the best. She is so chill and he lectures are so dumbed down. So, if you are stuck she starts from the very easy stuff. As long as you do the homework and go to class, very easy class. Just be responsible. Such an easy grader too. 4 exams, 6 quizzes with lowest dropped, and easy project.10/10
5 tests total in this class. It's a relatively easy class, the only thing i have to say is she moves fast. If you miss one day you're probably going to be pretty behind.
Ignore the bad ratings, she makes this class so easy. Starts at the very basics and her lectures are very easy to understand. I wouldn't recommend skipping because you will miss a lot. She is so nice and helpful when you have questions and makes sure that everyone understands. You will get an A as long as you go to class and do minimal studying.
It absolutely baffles me that this professor has good reviews. DONT TAKE HER
I promise you.. ignore the bad ratings. Prof B is so nice and so chill. Just go to class and pay attention. If you miss you will be behind so just go. She is on your side and doesn't want you to fail. I hate math but I've just gone to class and done maybe 15 mins of studying and got an A. THE PRACTICE TESTS ARE BASICALLY THE TESTS
She is a great teacher and makes you understand the material differently. There is a lot of hw but it is beneficial. I would take her. Only thing is she can be a little passive aggressive but most of the times its understandable. Great professor
This class was very tough, there's a lot of assignments that lead to a big project at the end of the semester. She does not take mental health seriously at all and she thinks it's funny. She will not help you if you are struggling in the class or outside of the classroom. I would not recommend this professor to anyone.
she's chill, show up, do the work, study = success
She is usually nice and goes slow to make sure everyone gets the material class is easy and each units hw isn't due until the test. The work isn't hard, just prepare for exams and sumbit all ur hw, not a hard class just do the work and you'll be fine
She has been my favorite math teacher. Before, I was not good at math but she is such a good teacher that I completely understand everything. I took both MAT160 and MAT225 with her because I liked her so much. Class is easy if you pay attention. Missing class won't affect your grade, but you will miss notes. practice exam is exactly like the test.
I am terrible at math, and this was the last class left for registration, so I went open minded. I actually enjoyed her as a professor. She takes the time to teach you the concepts, and she moves at the pace that you need to go. I took her at 8 a.m. which was not bad at all. I recommend her fully! She also lets you use an index card for tests!!!!!!
Only if ur challenged, you'll get anything below an AB in this class. Algebra is so easy, and she explains every little step. Do your homework and practice tests and pay attention in class, and this lecture is an EASY A. Unless ur from Florida and never took a math course in ur life.
Literally if I could give a 0 I would the worst math teacher I have ever had She is passive aggressive and treats you like you are not capable if you don't understand a concept right away only positive is that she gives a note card on exams where you can write formulas also she has projects that have nothing to do with the lessons we are learning
The best math teacher I've ever had. Explains things so clearly, and always willing to help if you have a question or are struggling. Good balance of work - HW for every unit, 6 quizzes, 3 tests, and 3 mini projects(tiny assignments). These assignments helped me learn, but didn't get in the way of my other classes.
She's fine. She's a sweet person, but I'm personally not a fan of her teaching style. And I got sick during the school year, and she didn't give me any guidance, and made me teach myself. I'm very good at math and have never had problems, so it speaks volumes that I ended this class with a C. If u can find a different professor, I would.
genuinely the worst professor i've ever had. the way this class is set up is so insanely stupid. i'm not good at math, but i try hard and have gotten a's in all 4 college math courses i took before this. she doesn't want you to pass. notes will not help you on the MUCH more complicated questions on the exams that are 60% of your grade.
If a course can't be taught in 6 weeks, don't offer a 6 week course. This was such a convoluted and poorly structured class. The video lectures you are required to write EVERYTHING down from are like 4 different people who all explain things differently. So many hours of work that you get barely any credit for. 4 Exams are hard and 60% of grade.
idk how her in-person classes are, but her online courses are awful. take anyone else.
each week there's 6 discussion posts, 2 module hw that take about 2 hours each, 4+ hours of videos to copy word for word into ur notebook(cannot skip unless u want to lose 20 points on each exam for not having whatever specific example she decides to make u show), and 2 40 minute quizzes that will be way more difficult than any of the hw or notes.
Dropped so fast.
If you don't know the material before hand your cooked your not learning anything
I don't know why she has bad reviews, she is an excellent professor, to do well all you have to do is actually pay attention during class, if needed take advantage of her office hours and the math tutors, during exams allows a flashcard, hw is all online and not due before the exam, have to work with excel sheets for small part of class
Guys TAKE HER!!! Ignore all the bad reviews. The best professor I have had here so far. She explains everything extremely clear and thoroughly. There are a lot of quizzes and exams, however she lets you use a flashcard on each exam to refer to. Homework is easy if you get it done on time, she makes each chapters hw due before each exam. Love her
Stephanie Branham goes out of her way to grade extremely hard. She isn't a professor who is on your side (grade-wise) to see you move on to the next steps of life; she wants to grind you down with extreme arithmetic and algebra, to the point of failure. She looks to mark anything wrong on a quiz or test. Unless u love math, don't take this class
She explains things easily, but keep in mind there is a quiz or exam every week and she does keep u for the full class time, which is very annoying when you're spending 2 hours strictly taking notes on math. She likes u if u participate, and I liked her, just not how many tests and how much time we spent in class.
Any positive review about Stephanie Branham was written by herself. She hands out Fs like it's candy at the fair. So evil and crude. Stephanie be a better person, kids are here for a college experience and to pass classes. This is Utampa not Harvard, stop being so tough with everything. Students beware this class is way tougher than it should be. F
Enjoys seeing kids fail and suffer Very controlling, not kind Have talked to multiple people who have had very negative experiences with her. Both grade wise and as a person. Feels like evil hs teacher.
Stephanie Branham evil witch, here to ruin your grade and joy for life. Utampa students hate Branham. She talks in class about how no guy wants to date her in her 30s, and now we are all failing because iof it, its very embarrassing
The reviews are not exaggerating. And yeah, the good ones are by her. I've had hard professors before, but what sets her apart is how she genuinely does not want her students to succeed. Don't expect the hefty amount of work in this class to help on the much more difficult tests that are worded to trick you. PS, no one cares about your love life.
