She is very helpful even on tests and quizzes. Usually gives out a study guide for tests. Very nice and tries to get you out of class a little early!! I would reccommend her!
She is not a good teacher at all. I could not pay attention to her and she didn't assign any homework or anything for extra points.
she is a boring teacher.. the class is really hard. even if you show up to class everyday and study your ass off for tests, you may end up with a C. do all your homework. she is willing to help you. this class takes up a lot of your time.
This class was very easy. All test questions came straight from the homework. Do the homework and suggested problems and you will easily get at least a B. Class can be dull, but she is an excellent teacher.

Good teacher, knows what shes talking about. Though the material isn't the most interesting, she is clear and thorough and as long as you do the suggested problems and go to class, you should do great. Over all, great teacher
Great professor. Gives detailed notes & is always willing to help. Gives homework/quizzes for extra points. Takes attendance & your attendance grade can replace your lowest test grade. I'm usually awful at Math but I didn't open my book once all semester and still got a B. She's very straight forward and knows what she's talking about. I liked her.
She was really good about getting us out early every day. It was just one section a day, and that was really managable. Her tests are fair, and lectures clear. One of the better math teacher's I've had at ISU
Finite Math 120. Shes a really nice teacher, answers questions with no problem. Very laid back & lets us go early everyday. Attending class is optional but you get 2 pts per day you show up & it goes in for lowest quiz grade. I recommend going & taking notes, then you wont have to do the suggested problems or study & do awesome.
The teacher is nice, and easy to understand! It's just a little boring and the tests are sorta hard.
Attendance is not mandatory but if you go to class you get 3 points each class and then that grade will replace you're lowest test grade. Very nice and organized professor. She offers a lot of points class wasn't to bad for a math class.
She is very helpful if you go in for test reviews. If you miss anything, she will not let you make it up, and she is very hardcore about that. relativley difficult material in some chapters, and i didn't think they were explained to well. She typically drops the lowest quiz or test.
She is a really nice teacher and i loved her teaching style. Homework isn't mandatory, but it deos help to do it. You can replace your worst test/all your quiz grades for your attendance score which is very nice. I recommend trying to get her as your teacher.
This woman is the best teacher at Illinois State University. Math is hard, but she can teach. She does not go on till everyone understands it. Attendance policy is awesome because you can replace your attendance % with your lowest test grade!! I replaced at 78% on a test with my 97% attendance! Always reviews before tests also...loved her!
She is an okay teacher. She does make sure everyone understands and has a great attendence policy, but the lectures are boring. The review worksheet can be a little misleading. I would study the whole sheet and there would be something on the test that I hadn't reviewed, and the problems on the test were usually harder versions of the review ws.
Great teacher, easy to understand lectures and fair grader. She lets you replace your worst test score with your attendance score so while it is not mandatory, it is recommended.
She is an awesome teacher. She gives you all of the tools that you need to succeed. If you do the practice problems and the reviews for the tests you will be fine. This class is not a joke though; you really have to put forth effort and ask her for help to be successful. She is always around to help, whether it's through e-mail or her office.
She was a great teacher. She clearly went over everything you needed to know. Attendance is not mandatory but your attendance grade will replace your lowest test score or all quiz grades or all lab score. I got an -A
IF YOU GET THIS TEACHER I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU TRY AND GET ANOTHER MAT 120 TEACHER. I went to class everyday, studied for tests and did the assigned practice problems. She speeds through the material and expects everyone to know everything on the exams. I was lost for finals and went to two other Finite teachers and they helped me so much more in tho
seriously, i have been in her class for 4 weeks now and shes probably the worst math teacher ive ever had. she gives no explanation or reason behind anything we do. she shows us these problems and just talks like we already know what the fck shes talking about... she was just not meant to be a teacher..
This teacher does fly through the material but that's a good thing for two reasons: 1. This class shouldn't be hard for you at all if you tested into it so flying through it is nice and 2. you get let out 15 minutes early everyday. I would recommend this teacher. Plus, she has a hot TA right now.
Easiest math teacher I've had. Attendance is worth points, which you can substitute for another grade. Clearly explains everything and will explain it if you ask. Always lets you out 5-20 minutes early. Labs are easy because the answers are there and the TA will help you. Take this teacher; she's so nice!
Great, easy teacher. Your attendance % replaces your lowest test or combined quiz score, so go to class and get those easy points. Explains things well, and labs are easy points as well because you get to check your answers. No reason you can't get an A or B
I studied for 3 + hours a day in this class;being the third time taking it, and I still failed. My last professor helped me immensely;Brodnick didn't seem to care that my graduation status relied on this course.I was sick with a sinus infection, missed class one day, and she would not let me make up the work Dont take this class for your gpa's sake
Stephanie is a good teacher. she gives out a packet that is VERY helpful for learning the info. She gives you all the calculator functions that others professors do not. If you go to class you should have no problem getting an A or B.
She was not helpful at all.
Ms. Brodnick is off the chain!
For teaching a lecture class she does a very good job at making sure that the material is easily understood. You'll work out of a packet that she has you buy at the beginning of the semester. There is assigned seating in the class and she does take attendance. No mandatory homework, but there are some practice problems from the book.
GREAT teacher. I hate math but I didn't mind this class. Sure it's boring, but she is really good at explaining things and is always willing to go over something again. Go to class because your attendance can replace a bad test grade. Buy the PIP packet and take good notes, and do a few problems from the homework (not mandatory) and you'll be fine.
she will not round for anything. no matter how hard you try or what you do or what you say. she is stubborn and does not care once she gets your money. do not take her!
I really liked her. She explained things really well and always asked if anyone didn't understand the material before moving on. I thought it was a good class and if you show up every day and take notes and go to the labs you should be fine, and if you're not she tells you what to do and is available by email.
if you went to class you would be fine on all the tests. She is a good teacher and explains well. If u dont mind mandatory attendance i would take her
She was very helpful! always there for the students. always asked if students understood the materials in class. she always recommended the different practice problems in the book. they were helpful. you could also go into her office hours for extra help!
She is a good teacher. Very clear and after each section she will ask in class if anything was unclear and she will go back over it with the entire class. You should come b/c you will get clicker points and may get a bump if you are close to a grade by the end of the semester by seeing how many clicker questions you got right. overall good prof.
nice lady
She is a good teacher. Explains things well and is very helpful. You need to go to class because she takes attendance and there are clicker points. She gives lots of quizzes and you cant miss a lot of questions because they aren't worth many points. Overall I would take her if you can.
Boring class and boring professor. Overall, she is nice, but just shows no enthusiasm in class at all.
I took Mrs. Brodnick's Math 120 class and I found the subject extremely challenging. However she did a great job explaining the material and was very clear during class. This class isn't fun but then again math rarely is. Friends of mine who were in the same course with different instructors had problems I never had with Mrs. Brodnick.

This class isn't fun but then again math rarely is. Friends of mine who were in the same course with different instructors had problems I never had with Mrs. Brodnick.
She uses guided notes which is really nice and if you pay attention in class and go all the time you should be perfect because it is not that hard of a class. but if you don't go to class you will have problems. One problem with her is that she is so unenthusiastic about teaching and it is so boring but she always asks if anyone has questions.
I hardly ever used my textbook which costs $215 if bought outright. She is probably the most UN-enthusiastic professor i've ever had. One problem with the course is that attendance is basically mandatory but if you go you should be fine. She teaches off of guided notes which is the best thing ever. Take her if you dont mind being bored like hell
Brodnick is very unenthusiastic but she is a pretty good teacher. She uses guided notes and will answer questions if you do not understand the material. Doing the suggested but not collected book homework and reviews help so much on the tests.
DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK! Homework is optional and NEVER collected. It is only for your practice, so borrow the book from a friend if you wanna do it. Allows you to miss up to 8 classes. After 8 classes missed, you forfeit her bonus 2% addition to your grade. DO NOT TEXT IN HER CLASS EITHER!! Otherwise, good teacher and easy A if you pay attention.
She makes it almost impossible to do poorly in class. She drops the lowest test and quiz, if your final score is higher than your lowest test it gets replaced, and you get an extra 2% at the end of the semester just for missing less than 9 days. That being said, she's not very exciting. But who cares, it's math.
This teacher is very boring and class is very uninteresting. She however does do a good job teaching and put together a good note packet. The textbook isnt necessarily required, but good to have to work on practice problems. You get extra credit at the end if you passed the attendance number so it is important to go to clas
Very good teacher. She gives you an awesome note packet to fill out and is very clear. I suggest doing the book problems because they DO help!
Definitely one of the best math professors I had. Sadly, she ended up leaving for maternity leave. She was helpful and was willing to go over any problems you had. Her assistant though didn't speak good English which made labs more difficult. I recommend Professor Brodnick!
Hands down best math teacher I have had since grade school. Take her if she's available!
1st mistake, I took this class online. She was inaccessible enough BEFORE she went on maternity leave. The online textbook was too technical to understand, and the prof who replaced her had no experience teaching the course in unit-circle format, yet was responsible for most of the grading! Never again.
Take her. You will not regret it. She is so easy and all you need to do is go to class and understand the problems and you will pass the test. She is so clear on everything and doesn't go to fast.
Excellent teacher! Was just like I was in high school, or even elementary school math again. Very easy and super helpful. Book is optional, and so far I haven't even opened mine. Almost impossible to not get an A if you're responsible. Go to class for mandatory attendance and do not use your phone in class. Take her, you won't be disappointed!
WORST CLASS IVE EVER HAD. she talks in a whisper and barely helps with anything. Her tests are scaled poorly, if you get one question wrong it already knocks you down to a B. Hard to stay alert in class, voice is monotone and boring. Doesn't prepare you for tests. STAY AWAY
The material is not easy, but Brodnick is a good teacher. Sit in the first few rows because it is very hard to hear what she is saying or even focus. Hard to stay alert in class, voice is monotone and boring. Your grade won't show in reggienet so you don't really know your grade until right before the final. Class isn't mandatory, but GO
Worst professor I have ever had! She has no interest in teaching or her students. She will not help you if you go to her office.
She is not a teacher! She just posts quizzes and gives tests. She will not help you!!! DO NOT TAKE HER!!
Is an ok teacher but it's strictly business with her. Doesn't get personal or anything math and that's it. Didn't like her that much.
Just to prove how amazing she is, I took this class with a different professor and got a D. I didn't want to retake the class because I generally suck at math, but I wanted to improve my GPA. With Professor Brodnick I received an A . She makes sure you understand the material and is always willing to help.
Good professor she gives a lot of examples do the homework it helps on the quizzes and tests. If you go to class you will do fine.
She doesn't give out homework. She has a mic so you can hear her. All my friends in other MAT120 have a hard time. She teaches MAT120 the best. Just go to lectures and you should do pretty well.
Ive taken mat 120 twice and shes the best there is. shes good at explaining things and gives you notes to follow along with. But you still have to teach yourself things here or there because its fast paced .but its college so its expected. avoid mersch at all costs.
If you need to take MAT 120, take it with Brodnick. She explains things clearly and if you have any questions, she's happy to help.
Best teacher I have ever had for math. I'm horrible at math and she made it so easy to understand. She's also always available to help.
Really good at explaining the concepts. I have other friends who took different professors for MAT 120 and they all agree that my notes and her explaining id by far the best. Strongly recommend her. But don't have your phone out in class she really hates that
Stephanie is a very good teacher and is super clear when teaching. She doesnt have much emotion and is sort of blah, but the class is only 50 minutes long so its not too bad. Gives multiple choice quizzes and tests with each question being 5 pts which sucks cause 1 wrong on the quiz is a B. overall good teacher to have
She is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. She makes the material really easy to understand and doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions. Her tests are easy but you need to study. The quizzes are harder than the tests but they don't count for much. She drops your lowest quiz and two lowest labs. PHENOMINAL TEACHER!!!!
Hands down one of the best math teachers that I've taken at ISU. Professor Brodnick is extremely thorough and easy to follow along with. She explains things so well and if you get lost, she's there to help. Her notes are very easy to follow along with People usually struggle with Math 120, but she makes this class very easy.
Stephanie is one of the best math teachers in the department. She does a great job of explaining everything and answering questions clearly. She has office hours for extra help. The material isn't too difficult, but doing the homework will help you on the tests, which shouldn't be bad if you put some effort into the class. I recommend taking her.
Best math teacher ever. She makes everything so clear and teaches everything perfectly. Don't get me wrong the class is tough but I ended up with an A because I actually studied for each test. Got A's on all the tests. TAKE HER!
Stephanie cares about her students as you can tell if you go to her office hours. It is a big lecture class so you have to make sure you are understanding what she is explaining otherwise go in for help! Attend labs and lectures and study for examsquizzes and you will do fine!
Great professor. Very clear cut in what she teaches and on homework, tests, etc. You will always know what is going on in class. Sit in the front and you should easily get at least a B. Tests can be a little tough. Labs are very helpful go to every single one.
Love Stephanie. Really wants you to get a good grade in her class. Gives you all the notes and you have to just fill them in. Explains everything well. Probably wouldn't be getting as high of a grade if it wasn't for her
VERY good math teacher here at ISU. Make sure you do all the practice problems otherwise you wont get near an A. Should get at least a B if you study. Very clear notes with the packets she makes you get.
Great professor for MAT120. As long as you attend lecture, participate, and ask questions you will be fine. Labs are easy if you bring your notes. As long as you practice the material and study, her tests and quizzes arent difficult. Very helpful if you as questions. Easy A or B with effort.
Her lectures are great because she goes along her note packet with you. Tests are hard if you do not study for them, same with the quizzes. No homework is assigned however there are practice problems she recommends you do.
Stephanie Brodnick is such a hard grader, she never explains what will be on the test. 2 wrong on the test is already a B. Each of the questions is worth 6 points each and there are is no partial-credit on the tests. She always chews her gum very loudly as well.
Pretty good professor. Always has office hours and is willing to help. Tests can be difficult, as there aren't many questions per test. The amount of extra credit is insane, so definitely take advantage of that.
I loved having Prof. Brodnick! Her class was pretty easy for me, based on the math I had taken previously, but she was very good at explaining new topics. I would definitely recommend her for anyone taking math 120. She also offers extra credit if you miss 8 or fewer classes and get clicker questions correct. I ended with 18 ec points
This professor is AWFUL. LITERALLY THE WORST at grading. Don't take this class. You'll certainly regret it and if your aren't great at math as it is, you'll loose confidence to pass future classes. TERRIBLE.
Prof. Brodnick is great at helping her students understand the material. Whether it's during office hours or right after class for a quick question, she's sure to help you understand. The workbook used is super helpful since a lot of things are already written in and you just do the work. She also provides extra credit and drops the lowest test!
Stephanie is a great professor! If you don't struggle terribly with math, I recommend not buying the book. Otherwise, Mrs. Brodnick sets this class up for you to do well. Drops 3 labs, final can replace lowest test, extra credit for clicker points. If you have to take MAT 120, I 100% would recommend her. She explains things very thoroughly.
Multiple choice exams, normally 17 questions, not a bad teacher and has guided notes. DONT BUY THE TEXTBOOK just dont miss class, go to the first 10 labs and have the TA grade your work before you turn it in and you wont have to go to the last 3. Doesnt cancel class, likes to be called Steph, you need a clicker
I hate math & thought I'd do terrible in this class, but she was super helpful & explained everything really well. The textbook was only used for studying which I highly recommend doing at lest once before a test. There's also lots of opportunity to boost your grade. I bombed the first to test & got a B in the class
I suck at math and she is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. Lectures are slow, but she really walks you through everything and helps you understand it. She drops lowest grades and gives you extra credit opportunities. Attendance isn't required but if you miss less than 8 classes you get extra credit and it's worth it to go!
Honestly, a very boring professor overall. There is no homework, only labs and tests. Very monotone and unenthusiastic. Would not recommend if you have trouble staying focused in class. Her extra credit opportunity for clicker points is taken away the instant the TA catches you looking at your phone once.
Great professor, cared about subject and students. Need to put effort in this class. Study to pass.
Teacher blew me off when I was desperately asking for help. Was forced to try and learn out of textbook on my own.
First of all, no homework during the semester. She recommends doing practice problems that help, but thats about it. 5 tests during the semester, and a lab once a week (easy 10 points). As long as you fill out your PIP Packet, youll have no problems in class, just follow along, and pay attention in class and youll be fine.
She was a decent professor. The class itself was difficult and it didn't help that all she did in her lectures was fly through the notes and not really explain how to do the problems. You need to go to every class unless you want to get a poor score on your tests. If you pay attention in class, then you should be fine.
DOES NOT GRADE HOMEWORKZERO MOTIVATION. Constantly has two TAs walking around the room to see if you are on your phone. If you are caught on your phone, you will lose points. We are adults, NOT children. She chooses the hardest problems from the PIP packet and puts them on the tests, which make them almost impossible to pass. She doesn't help you.
You buy the workbook, and go to class as she speaks at the students. She doesnt really go into depth on problems, and if you are behind it will be difficult. Going to class isnt mandatory, but she does use clicker questions everyday. Not the biggest fan of her teaching, but if you go to the classes and get the notes down, youll be fine.
She explains things well but talks really fast. The tests are really weighted like 6 points per question. Attendance counts for a grade and allows you to take the final. The material isn't terrible but to succeed you should do the practice problems. Ask the TA for help in labs it will help your grade if you get 10/10 on the labs.
Brodnick was very organized and good at teaching. The classwork and tests were doable. Labs were easy points. I got A's on everything. The final did not reflect the class at all. I studied a lot and knew very little on the exam. I got a D on it. I recommend the course just know she might throw a curve ball final at the end.
In lecture she speaks very fast and goes over the material really fast. I felt like she wouldn't go into depth with the problems. The test were heavy weighed. If you struggle definitely get help from TA or go to tutoring. Just attend class it's worth points & there are clicker points which is the extra credit and go to labs!
Brodnick was very tough. Refused to make her class synchronous and only ever recorded herself doing the guided notes. Felt like I was teaching myself all on my own and the content is not easy. The tests were always hard. She was never empathetic or understanding. Never gave half credit on exams where it was deserved. Lots of people struggled
Class is an easy A. Brodnick is quite rude. I had a zoom call with her one time and she was helpful but felt like she was speaking down on me for not understanding some things. Her class has a very heavy workload but she does explain everything very well in her notes and her homework is easy. Can use notes on all tests so that convenient.
Online class. Definitely the worst professor I have had. She is never flexible. She is lazy. Online she never gave partial credit, so for tests if you didn't get the exact number, you didn't get any points. Our class requested to have zooms because we were so lost and she said no. All we had were videos weekly and assignments that were easy.
Extremely difficult. Tests are hard with each question being at least 6 points with 0 opportunity for partial credit. Meeting with her outside of class gets you nowhere, as she's pretty rude and talks down to you a lot. You can use notes on the test but it doesn't even help that much. Strongly recommend you don't take her.
Terrible terrible I felt as if the professor was always talking down to me. I received a good grade in the class however it was just a very uncomfortable experience and on one of the zoom meetings she stated something very personal out loud during a public zoom class. I would not take this professor again not understanding and so rude two students
Professor Brodnick was very rude and unprofessional. My area had a major internet outage where a telephone pole was knocked over the week of finals, and when emailing due to Wifi fail I get told that I "passed the class and earned credit towards my degree". C's get degrees may have been her motto, but it most certainly is not mine. Went from B to C
I was able to take this class in person and she was very robotic/monotonous in her lectures. She didn't really seem to care about the individual student and the class had a heavy workload of online assignments and weekly quizzes. The tests only had 13-16 questions on them so if you missed one, it heavily impacted your grade.
Professor Brodnick's class is well organized and straight forward. If you have a solid math ability I don't see why you couldn't get an A. She explains everything clearly and the examples in class are very similar to what you will see in exams and homework. There are multiple assignments and a quiz every week but they are not long, take her.
always check your announcements she puts practice questions that are similar to the quizzes. Quizzes every Tuesday, try your hardest to get 8 or high it will help later on. To review for the test rewatch every video of those chapters the test will be on and redo every problem if possible. Sign up for a tutor in the beginning. She is no help.
Professor Brodnick is very organized. She is a very traditional college professor. MAT 120 was a very hard class, you had to put in a lot of work. I never met with her personally but I was still able to get an 86 in the course because I studied really hard on the final. Just do well of the final and try to ace quizzes and get 100s on assignments
If you already have a good grip on finite mathematics, Prof Brodnick is a good professor who will jog your memory of how to do it. However, if you are shaky in math, I would say try somebody different as her explanations are not always clear. She provides plenty of practice problems before quizzes and tests. I'm good at math, so it was an easy A.
Attendance is not required because she doesn't care if you attend or not and the online videos are great. The lowest test, two quizzes, and five homework assignments are dropped. Pay attention to the lecture and do the WebAssign (easy points) and the class is pretty easy. The only complaint I have is that the final is weighted pretty heavily.
Professor Brodnick does not explain the material correctly and doesn't like when others have a nspire calculator. She pretty much gives you a packet for the nspire calculator and expects YOU to learn everything by yourself. Also she says get help with the tutors, the tutors don't really know what they are doing: changes the whole way.
tests made or break your grade, if you rounded incorrectly just by a single decimal it was counted wrong, whole tests and finals were worth 10-20 points. If you missed anything you would already be at a low grade. Homework and online lectures weren't helpful + tutoring wasn't available for this class. just retake aleks and avoid this professor
Stephanie is a very good professor. She will answer your questions during class if you have any. She will drop 1 exam, 3 homework, and 2 quizzes. She also posts lectures online if you aren't able to make it to class.
Super nice You get a note packet which ic super helpful
I loved Professor Brodnick so much. She is the best professor I've had by far and made the material really easy to understand and offers help whenever you need it. She does assign weekly quizzes but if you go to class and do the WebAssign homework you will be fine. If you can't attend class, she has all the videos and notes posted on online. 10/10
Great professor. Highly recommend for math 120. All lessons are posted online but I recommend going to class. Don't fall behind and make sure to do homework. The tests and final test are worth almost all of your grade, so if you are not a good test taker, I would recommend tutoring or studying hard! The class is an easy A if you pay attention.
Professor Brodnick is an amazing professor who makes sure to thoroughly explain concepts for the students to understand. There is a lot of homework, but it's very easy if you go to class and pay attention.
A good teacher overall, teaching style is pretty good and gives good resources when needed. Only complaint is how test-heavy she is on all exams ESPECIALLY the cumulative final. Quizzes are not the worse because she provides similar examples. She drops grades which helps but the course itself is pretty difficult and fast-paced. Lectures are online.
Great professor. Drops lowest test puts lecture videos online weekly quizzes. Overall super great be prepared to take notes.
The professor is the best Highly recommend but the class is difficult so take tutoring or don't fall behind
Always had trouble with math, but I needed this class for my biology major. I struggled very hard over the summer with this class and thanks to Professor Brodnick I was able to pass. I wish I could do more than this remark. Highly recommend.
Brodnick is one of the best math teachers I've had. If you can take her class, do it. She gives clear instructions on all sorts of problems that she goes over. She gives lots of homework and practice opportunities to boost your grade. There are quizzes once a week to help with that as well. Its a hard class because of the material, but she helps.
Prof. Brodnick is one of the best math teachers I've had. She went over example problems very clearly during lectures. Online quizzes once a week but they were fairly easy. She's super helpful and if you can take her class then take it.
Prof. Brodnick was a great teacher, but the amount of work and stress that this class puts on you is a lot. You have a quiz every week and 4-6 assignments every week, all due on different days. She also moves very fast in lectures and doesn't allow you a lot of time to comprehend the material or ask questions before moving on to the next thing.
Terrible. Would email her about anything and wouldn't receive an answer back until I approached her in class about it. She also is not helpful at all, if you are struggling or anything don't expect her to help you. I tried having a conversation with her and she is the most dry, curt and rude professor at ISU. Don't take her, save yourself time.
She assigns 4-6 homework assignments every week, some due on different days while others due on the same. Not to mention the the amount of quizzes she gives out, and its always due at 5:00pm! Why even is that? She drops the 3 lowest quiz grades and oh how nice of her! if only she didn't give 30 quizzes then maybe it would actually do something!
Show up to class and you will do fine. Weekly quizzes and often they are not multiple choice, but exams are. offers extra credit quiz at end of the semester.
Professor Brodnick was great & and will provide you with resources to succeed in this course. 4-6 assignments weekly, 1 quick per week, 4 exams (lowest dropped & a few lowest quiz scores dropped), extra credit quiz at the end of semester that majorly bumps grade, and ofc final exam. Fast-paced class but you can succeed, attend all lectures!!!
Brodnick is amazing at teaching math. She has you purchase guided notes packets which is extremely helpful. She gives you a chance at 20 points extra credit. Her tests are similar to practice tests. About 2-4 homework assignments and a short quiz once a week with practice questions. week. If you go to class and do the HW you will have no problem.
Better go to class. Your exam grades are 1000000% based on your attendance for that unit. Great teacher and explains things very well, but if you don't go don't expect any lecture videos or anything to help you understand the material because the cengage homework is a headache to understand as they explain online.
Professor Brodnick is great at teaching and explaining things very well. While attendance isn't mandatory, show up if you want to do well in the class. There are weekly quizzes which aren't multiple choice but all the tests are. The lowest test grade, 2 lowest quizzes, and 4 lowest assignment grades also get dropped at the end of the semester.
Brodnick is a great teacher, but the workload is heavy. Lots of weekly quizzes and assignments, but she drops the lowest scores. Attend all lectures and use unstuck AI for extra practice - it really helps in this fast-paced class.
This professor was so bad , all we did in lecture was copy everything she wrote down she didn't even explain the work because of how fast she goes , also study guide doesn't even help you in the test . It was impossible to get my grade up no matter how hard I studied , by the middle of the semester half os the class dropped this class.
Do not listen to any of the good ratings. I am fairly good at math and this class was so hard, she talks so fast and tests are like 90% of your grade. Half way through the semester over half the class dropped the class.
Overall she was great, she tried to engage even though it though it was a 100+ person class and was very helpful during her office hours. She drops your worst test and homework is helpful. Her only cons were that her review guides were only kind of helpful and it was easy to fall behind if you missed lecture because she doesn't post notes.
Professor Brodnick was the best math professor I have had. She was very good at explaining the problems and walking through each step clearly. She had a packet that we used for class and it was super helpful. If you don't go to class I feel like this class would be difficult, but if you attend the lectures there will be no surprises on the exams.
I don't understand how she has so many good reviews. Most of the students I sat with were also failing. I've always been good at math but this class is fast paced. Doesn't post notes. Study guides kinda help. hw/quizzes were easy. She wasn't attentive when I asked for help outside of the class. Every time I thought it got better it got worse.
She is not terrible, I would say she is one of the better mat120 professors as she gave a few opportunities for extra credit, attendance is not part of your grade however DO NOT SKIP HER CLASS it leaves you so behind. The material sucks but that's not really her fault so I would recommend.
She is good at explaining things, but it's so much material that it's virtually impossible to memorize everything perfectly by JUST doing the notes packet, quizes, and homework assignments. You would need to use your free time, unfortunately. SHE ALSO HAS A SEATING CHART FOR A LECTURE HALL, which is absolutely ridiculous.
She teaches too fast and content isn't fluent with what she teaches, be ready to do outside of class studying to keep up.
The class was extremely lecture heavy and would overcomplicate all of her notes. I would not recommend her at all. During lecture she only briefly explains things and just rushes through her notes. Has a weird attitude when trying to communicate with her. Her tests are also not like the study guide. Expect to be studying countless hours.
This class is so fast paced and all you do is write down notes and she goes so fast that by the time your almost done writing down your answer she probably already done with the other problems. I went to class everyday, yet their so much things I have to catch up because of how fast she goes and I still did not understand.
She's a great professor. I wouldn't hesitate to ask her a question and she'd answer everytime. When you actually do the homework (don't cheat), go to class everyday, go to her office when confused about ANYTHING, and maybe even get some tutoring… u should do very well in this course. she does write fast though 😂
If you are the type of student who goes to class and reviews your notes / does the hw without cheating you will have no issues getting near a 100% in this course. I finished with over a 100 and my attendance was 52%
Beware if you have a part time job or anything to do outside of class. There is just SO much content and no time to be perfect at it unless you study A LOT in your free time. She's good at explaining things, but WILL try to trick you on tests. She also has a seating chart, which isn't great.
MAT 120 is fast pace (new topic every 1-2 days) which can make it slightly difficult but she gives you ways to help through the appointed time with the GA on quiz days or the various tutoring clubs offered on campus. During review days she opens it up to student suggestions which helps too. Does drop some stuff at the end and offers an EC quiz.
She was nice and the lectures were good and she has the class participate throughout the lecture so it's easier to understand.
I understand why people feel overwhelmed with how Prof Brodnick runs her class but she keeps her class in line and running smoothly. Any math class is going to be tough and out of all the math teachers here I'd rather take her than anyone else. She has a lot of review sessions and even offers an extra credit quiz at the end. She's a good professor.
Like many students within this course, I went to tutoring for help. The TA for Brodnick told me that a majority of the class was failing and that Brodnick was surprised that only 40 students from my class alone dropped out by the end of the semester. Do not take her. These bad reviews are warnings.
she has the most monotone voice and expects you to know what to do after the first problem. her exams are all multiple choice and there is a quiz every week on a "no class day", and the GA has lots of hours to help on the quiz day. if you took AP stats in hs, this class will be a breeze, trust (coming from someone who ended with over 100%).
I was VERY hesitant coming into this class, but don't let the reviews scare you, she is an excellent professor. The workload is a lot, but she drops the lowest test score and the 4 lowest quiz scores at the end of the semester. Definitely would take this class again and I was never a fan of math.
Her lectures are very understandable and she gives lots of practice to do outside of class. She grades attendance and also drops a lot of low scores so as long as you go to class and do the work you should get a good grade.
