I took her in Spring 2020. Her quizzes are hard and I failed a lot of them, but at the end of the quarter, I got a chance to recover those at the final exam. Her grading is really reasonable and generous, you will never disappointed. But you have to spend more than 15 hours every week to succeed in this class.

Lecture quiz, lab quiz, and midterm question every week. Although only one question each, I was so stressed throughout the quarter. No solutions to uncollected hw, so go to office hours since quizzes and midterms can be similar. The difficulty of them can range. The final was not too bad though. Sometimes she gets irritated or ignores questions.

Good lectures but stressful. 2 1-question weekly quizzes (1 for lab) in 10 min. 1 midterm question weekly (15 min). Usually she's nice but she'll be annoyed at times. HW not required but you need practice. Questions aren't super hard but easy to lose A. You need to understand the concepts. Gives OK partial credit, B isn't hard. Didn't take Final.

The class is pretty easy to strike a groove in. Attend lecture, supplement with the textbook as needed, and definitely do the homework and you'll do well. It is a tough subject and her style of teaching is so you understand the concepts of physics more than applications which I personally find easier. She gives lots of partial credit too.

She is an awesome professor, focusing more on the concepts than the final answer. Attend office hours and make sure you understand all of the homework problems. Her problem solving is very systematic, and she grades leniently. Class is very difficult in the beginning, but stick through it, and you'll be glad that you did.

Her rating should be way higher! Came back nearly a year later after more experience, realized how much I appreciate her class in retrospect. She is a stickler about notation + process but for good reason. She tells you exactly what she wants from you, you just have to put in the work. Funny, caring but puts up a tough front.

You will learn a lot if you are willing to put in the work. Professor Dickson provide clear feedback on what you did wrong and was straightforward with the grading. Although her homework sets are not graded, it helps prepare for the exams. Overall, she is a very good teacher!

Gives lectures like an auctioneer. Stenographer during lecture to turn in notes then self-study and YouTube to understand the concepts. Flys through lecture and is extremely particular about what work to show on quizzes and exams. Only gives quiz and midterm solutions. Plan to attend every office hour and redo every lecture. She's funny though.

She often gets distracted during lecture and can come across as abrasive. She lectures at a fast pace. The class grading is based on 3 weekly quizzes, 2 midterms, final, lab write-ups, with midterms being significantly harder than quizzes. Office hours are strongly encouraged, and note cards are not allowed on tests.

Phys is a tough subject in general so you should be ready to work hard & she makes that clear at the beginning of the course. No HW to submit but there will be a quiz based on the HW questions. Usually 3 quizzes a week - lab, lecture, HW. Quite lenient on grading as long as you start from first principles. Always go for office hours.

This was the most difficult class I have ever taken. If you want to do well, always be prepared for practically a quiz everyday. Make sure to memorize equations, because you won't be given any. Attend office hours as early as you can, or you might get a rude surprise on exam day. Above all, just pray you can pass, because many will drop out.

If you're looking for an easy A, don't take her class! In order to pass her class, you need to get a grade of 60% or higher because her grading policy for a C grade is 60-77%

Professor Dickson is a kind professor but her class is tough. If you want to really be incentivized to learn all the material then take the class, but it's very easy to mess up one midterm and not get the grade you want. If you show up to lectures, read the textbook and do the homework you'll do well in the class and gain a deeper understanding.

I think she's an excellent professor. Keep in mind that electricity and magnetism is a BRUTAL subject, so this class is going to be remarkably difficult, no matter who your professor might be. However, I think Professor Dickson explains the subject well and makes learning about an, admittedly very dense and hard-to-follow subject, rather enjoyable.

Often I, or my peers, would have interesting questions which she would explore on her own time and answer concretely later. Exams heavy, yes, but she is a lenient grader and helps during exams.
