Great Professor, teaches well. Study her notes for the exams and quizes
She's nice, but she teaches too fast. She just "lecture" you, and she gives too much information at once. Her tests are quite a challegend.
She is one of the most boring teacher u can ever get. Very very unfair, because she just "LECTURES" you. U just don't get the material at all. A lot of readings and hards tests. If u can't stand the boreness and hard exams. DONT TAKE HER
The most challenging class I've ever had but so worth it. You've got to stay on top of the readings and the NYTimes in order to not feel overwhelmed... She lectures really fast but if you do the homework you'll get it - I promise. Take this class.
great professor! you can see that she just loves teaching, goes in depth in all topics, plus she loves it when you ask questions. Don't take her if u just wanna sit back and relax; you gotta read the book and ny times, but its worth it
interesting class with good discussions. She talks too fast, though and may be a bit unclear at times.
Great Prof. You will definitely learn in her class. She is a fair grader. However, only 1 paper at due at the end of semester with final. Can be tough be aware. Overall, you'll enjoy the class immensely if you are into politics.
The course itself was not very interesting (3rd world politics), however, she made the class interesting. She loved the subject and loved to teach and it showed. There was a final and 1- 15 page paper due on the last day. She is a fair grader.
she's a good teacher, however, he project is extremely long! she just wants too much info for it. you have a lot of time to do it however, its still too much if you have other hard classes to manage at the same time
VERY BORING, TALKS TOO FAST. THE MATERIAL IS BORING. SHE DOESN'T USE A TEXT BOOK SHE HAND PICKS LONG A*SS ARTICLES AND PUTS THEM INTO TWO VOLUMES OF SPRIAL BOOKLETS (YOU HAVE TO BUY IT AT COPY CENTER). ONLY A MIDTERM AND A FINAL. TOO MUCH READINGS.
She's just horrible, she can't teach!! She talks way way way too fast and that made her really boring. HOw did she pass her speech course in college??? She talks in a monotone level that will put u straight to sleep.
A must avoid. She is just unbearably boring
Excellent professor, if your really into political science. If your not into it and are just taking the class as an elective, don't take her. She is a fair grader. You must do readings and work, so its not an easy BS class. but great for poli sci mayors, and if your really want to learn. Jade
If u can keep up with the readings, take this class. She is very clear, she gives detailed notes, and even an outline for every class. Great Professor! A must take if u like Political science, she knows what she's talkin about!
Here's the deal: she's not an easy teacher but, then, why should she be? The readings can be hard to understand but she does a really good job in explaining them. She's extremely genuine and open to opinions. Her tests can be a little difficult depending on how much of the material you understand.
Boring is the first thing that comes to mind. Very authoritative, even for a teacher, and offers way too much work. Test reviews are hardly reviews. Made me lose interest in Pol. Science as a minor.
Terrible professor, speaks way too fast in class. She makes the class harder than it should be, she's from harvard herself, and she expect us to be like her, and how could we, we're at baruch!!! All she does is lecture you in class, and you can't learn much. AvoidDDDDD
Intellectuals professors such as Golob raise the academic bar at Baruch. Classes are not meant to be easy. In this increasingly competitive educational environment, we should embrace challenges which increase our academic capabilities..I learnt more from this class than in any other class. A++++++++
Compulsively interested in her subject, but fails to make it interesting to others. The atmosphere in class is apathetic, often somber. But she repeats herself a lot & gives class outlines so you have to be an utter retard not to get an A. Avoid making partisan comments. It irks her.
She can't teach!!! All she does is lecture you, and put u to sleep.
It's true that she is very passionate about what she teaches. Yet, if you sign up for her class you also have to be interested in the subject as well. There a two exams and one written and oral report. We also have discussions and discussion leaders. It's a pretty intense class and most of all yo
(1)She speaks way too fast.(2)She speaks in monotone(3)She is very boring(4)Give more workload than you can handle(5)Unless youre caucasian there's no way that you can really understand what she's saying--it is so unfair!! CONCLUSION=She can't teach so just don't tak her!!
If you are interested in the subject, she is the professor to take. She has an ivy league degree and really knows her subject well. However, there is a lot of work so you should be prepared for that. She is an easy grader and her exams have no surprises. Just do the reading, participate and you'll be fine.
Excellent, resourceful, knowledgeable and challending professor. Not an easy class, if you're choosing this for an elective, don't bother...this is a class for persons who have a vested interest in the subject
althought i, too, find the professor boring, if you cannot understand her then you do not belong in college; caucasian or not,or should our professors teach in ebonics?
the ones who said they were interested in the subject but gave her a poor grade are lying and have a personal problem with her because they couldnt handle her class. she is knowledgeable and thorough.her class motivated me to work in the third world.
Alrite, lets be honest, she's boring, extremely boring. Nobody says she doesn't know her materials, but her teaching method is just overal biased. Her way of teaching is too technical w/ all those terms and just "lecturing you", comon its only a 2000 level class she's act like she's teaching phd kids
If you want to learn something, take her. Knows her****. If you want to be entertained and get an easy grade. Don't. I'm glad I did, and I can't believe her rating is so low.
She is the best. teaching, exams and her attitude ...all contribute to her being one of the best professors.
very learned professor. knows her subject and she is a sweatheart.
She is really nice, but her way of teaching makes the class seem extra long. She doesn't give much assignments, but she expects you to read a lot of materials. Honestly, it's really hard to stay awake in the class. The subjects are really boring, but she gives great lectures. I think she has the ability to make the course a little more interesting.

The best thing about this prof is her passion for the subject matter.. One of the more challenging teachers at Baruch but after a class with her you feel like your money was well spent. Come to class.. take notes and do the readings and you will get a good grade..Baruch needs more teachers like her.. she earns her money!
She knows her stuff, but she can defently put you to sleep. The class seems longer then what it really is. There is only a midterm and final. TOO MUCH READING!!!
She knows her stuff. Make sure you attend her lectures and keep up with the reading if you want to do well. Sometimes it does get a bit boring but other times there are interesting heated debates during disscussion day. There is no HW, just midterm and final. Gives good reviews. Know the key concepts. Highly recommended if you enjoy world politics.
This professor is super intelligent, dedicated and most of all, it seems as if she cares about her students. She is passionate on the subject matter. That said, I found myself falling asleep sometimes. She can definetely talk! Her way of teaching is lecture-based. Class discussions are assigned. Just a midterm and final, lots of reading.
Super intelligent, caring, and has a sense of humor. There is a lot of reading in the class. The class discussions are interesting, and you learn a lot in the class. It is kind of hard to know what type of grade you'll get. There are only two tests: a midterm and a final, and lots of reading. Hard class but you learn a lot, and she's super smart.
This Lady Rocks! Smart & Intelligent, Enthusiastic to teach and with a good sense of Humor. Takes you to a journey of Political Thinking about things you didn't even know existed. Creates a good environment in the Class. Though those who can't stand lectures - don't even think about registering. If you a polisci Junkie - She's the Best of the Best!
Posts detailed reviews for all tests, everything is straightforward - you have to be dumb not to do well. She needs to stop being nice to students who like to BS, otherwise they feel too comfortable telling the whole class what their grandmother thinks on FTA w/Peru.
Super smart~~ The best POl professor in Baruch. The test is easy, but you have to read a lot of materials every week. For the final, I read over 100-150 pages of articles + text book(100-150 pages also). Midterm is a bout the same. I got A for the term. If you like internatinoal relation, it`s a must take class.
Readings aren't that difficult; sometimes the CH. can be long. Exams, depending how she formats 'em, can be EZ to hard (gives extra credit). Looks for clear facts on it & will take points off on certain key things. Discussion groups can really boost ur grade. Term papers also EZ but long. ALWAYS takes attendance! Just do some work & U will be fine.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT AND TOO GOOD FOR BARUCH IF YOU ASK ME
She is the most professional professor in Baruch I had. Agree, she is too good for this school.
i hate politics. but she helped me understand it. i didn't do so well but mainly b/c i didn't read the material. (if u dont read, MAKE SURE u pay attention in class. its impt). very nice + intellectual lady. i learned A LOT and would take her again for learning purposes but not grade-wise. she makes it easy w/ online notes and only 2 tests. big :)
The grade is based on 2 exams and a softball 5 min oral presentation. It's key to know the author names well for the essay questions. You'll probably need some coffee for each class. Expect a ton of hyphenated terms and claims with almost no evidence to be thrown around. Pretend you know what she's saying. About 300pp of reading. Expect to cram!
If you like politics, this class is for you. Really intelligent, nice professor but the class is basically extremely long lectures where she talks for an hour and a half straight. Tons of reading.
Her approach to teaching the course is soooo amazing. It's crazy how she breaks such a hugh subject matter down. Seriously you have to be really lazy to not find the work manageable, because there is a lot of reading. But she provides lecture outlines and an outline for basically everything. She makes sure that you're on top of what you should be g
GREAT class...but make sure you take this course if you love politics and want to major/minor in it. I have never met anyone who knows so much about their own subject matter. She is a true intellect and its clear she loves all things exotic. Expect to WORK though....she constantly reminds you that this is a "3000-level" course..am taking her again!
GREAT PROFESSOR. If you like Political Science take care. She is very passionate about it. Always helpful and friendly when needed. Would consider going for Political Science Major only because of her. A lot of readings. No MC exam, so be prepared to write. Loved her!!!!! No text book, but have to read newspaper and articles everyday.
She is one of the smartest professors I have ever had! This class is not very interesting, but as long as you read everything she assigns and participate it's not too bad, and her grading is fairly lenient.
Best Pol. Sci. professor at Baruch. If you're interested in International Affairs she's the go to gal.
There is no questioning her passion for the subject matter. Very well versed on international politics. The challenge for a professor with such knowledge is appropriately conveying it to students - a challenge that Golob needs work on. She also needs to respond to her students emails. Midterm & Final and way too much material for each exam.

Midterm & Final and way too much material for each exam.
She is the most knowledegeable, professional, and devout professor I have ever had at Baruch. NO doubt, her class is difficult, and expects a lot of readings and study on your own for the exams. Yet, as you get to talk to her and put in time to literally memorize the whole notes, you will be GOLDEN. I personally loved the class- and I got an A!
Interesting class, learned a great deal about globalization. Requires a great deal of reading, and exams are all written (midterm & final only). Do not be intimidated by her review sheets, it implies you need to become an encyclopedia for the exams but its just not the case. Take good notes and you will do great, but do not miss a thing she says.
Great class, but the grading is tough as nails. Exams are written, so she can give any grade she wants. Every student I spoke to felt they deserved a better grade on their exams.
Prof. Golob is fantastic at what she does. She is extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about her subject. Be prepared for heavy reading. Her midterm and final consists of essays. Do the readings and show up to class and you should do fine.
She's one of the most knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful professors that I could imagine. Well versed in a variety of topics, worldly, and cultured. I very much appreciated the opportunity to have her, and will be taking her again next semester for her Third World Politics class (which truly seems to be a passion for her). HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Great Professor! A little quirky in her extreme enthusiasm for the subject but hey THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT FROM A PROFESSOR!!! Don't let the readings intimidate you- just being prepared for one presentation and having one week of readings commanded for each exam (Midterm & Final) as well as paying attention in class will get you the grade you want.
Professor Golob is great. She loves this stuff, and teaches very well. You have to study a lot for her midterm and final though! But, put in the work and you will be rewarded.
took her grad course in GC, she is amazing. she loves what she does, makes it interesting, even though the reading list is very long, you get by if you read abstracts and intro-conclusions.. she is a nice lady, that's a huge plus since most professors are stuck up and sometimes insensitive. she is a real human, loved her class.
Class was interesting at points. Sometimes it just gave me a headache but that's politics I guess. Sometimes she spoke way too fast or just said way too much at once which made things hard to absorb. She assumes people know certain historical events. It would probably be a good idea to take this class and a history class in the same semester.
Too much reading! She gives course packets, dense course packets, and then expects you to read the NY Times everyday along with your choice of a second newspaper or journal. And, and, and, then expects you to do online readings as well, the ones marked with a star in the syllabus, which are posted on Blackboard. However, not a bad professor.
Took her for globalization and third world politics. she's a great professor! Poli Sci's my major so i find it interesting. Super knowledgeable. Lots of reading tough essay grader but fair. If you you're looking for a challenge and wanna learn take her. gotta work for an A though
Teacher talks too much. Course material seemed to cluttered. Strict on essay grading, so the grade entirely depends on her. The course material is extremely easy--in my opinion--but the professor makes it more difficult than it has to be. Waste of time and $$$. But what else is new.
intensely motivated and obviously concerned with her classroom role. detail driven! but works very hard @ well-planned lectures. Fair, responsive, funny, considerate, with a heartfelt show of responsibility to students. True: she is packed w the facts & provides the occasionally overwhelming answer to a question. But, a gold standard of teaching.
The Class is pretty much easy however, when the professor grades the grad its one of the worst and I would recommend not to take her at all. All she does is talk to much, and give bad grade especially the Essay. she has her own way to grade which is worst I ever seen in Baruch
She is an amazing professor. She knows what she is talking about and is very objective in her teaching, which is required in a political sciences class. Lots of readings to do prior to class, sonic you don't like reading, don't take her. If you really want to learn and are really interested in political sciences, take her.
A ton load of reading. At least 40 pages of article reading assigned each week. You don't really have to read it. I didn't read them, and only paid attention in class, looked at the lecture outlines, and she gives very detailed notes (12 pages) before midterm and final explaining the articles. Hard class but still got A- without reading articles
Boy, what can I say; her knowledge on the subject of politics is unmatchable. A lot of reading but that is inevitable. Politics is all about understanding complex topics and then writing them down to comprehend them. BE BRAVE and take her class. A humble request from my side.
I imagine this is what a professor should be. Intellectual, engaged with the subject, connected with the students. Make no mistake she knows the material and is passionate about it. There are really no surprises on her exams. Just take the notes, participate and study and you will get your A.
She is an amazing expert professor. She loves educating and loves politics. She is very clear with her expectations and if you attend class regularly you will do fine. If you are in College to learn or if you a political animal this class is for you. She lectures in one of the classes and there are class discussions in the other. AWESOME CLASS
Poly sci is life. Yea she is very knowledgeable on her subject matter and the lectures relevant, but the course load for a general ed class is just absurd. Not only does she take attendance the minute class starts, she talks for 80 minutes by herself. It's good to love what you do, but for a gen ed class? Way too much work
She is horrible with getting back grades in a timely fashion. She grades to her opinion. She teaches pretty vague and grades too hard and looks for specifics. It is not a horrible class just would appreciate my grades in a timely fashion.
If you are into political science i would say go for it, if not stay away. She talks on and on barely asks questions, takes attendance right away, assigns WAY TOO MANY readings (as if we don't have a life) and explains stuff in HER view and wants you to agree with her yet wants your own words on the midterm.
What a great professor. I enjoyed every class, and the best part about the class is that you keep up with current events. She is also very understanding when it comes to conflict that prevents you from getting your work done on time.
Tells you what she wants on a test after you've taken it, returns first grades weeks after drop period, gives only her point of view and states it as fact, talks in ultra-bombastic terms so you never quite understand her. She's amazingly smart and very passionate, just an awful professor
Professor Golob is an incredibly knowledgeable lecturer. Her lectures are long but informative and while there is a multitude of assigned readings, these are essential to proper understanding of topics at hand. Her tendency to ramble notwithstanding, she presents the material in a clear manner. She can be a little late with returning grades.
Professor Golob is incredibly knowledgable in regards to the world of politics. He lectures, while extremely complex (its college get over it), are substantially useful not only in the course, but in developing your own personal view on the topic. She was VERY understanding of any personal situations affecting class work, just tell her the truth.
Just focus on the reoccurring themes that she repeats ten times over in every lecture. Exams are fair. A few fill in the blanks/define terms (4), and one essay. The readings prior to the midterm are nearly impossible to understand, though after the midterm readings are much easier. Very fluid speaker as well.
I actually didn't really enjoy the class that much because it was literally her speaking for 1 hr 15 min rarely asking any questions. Also she returned our midterm a MONTH late and her notes look like random phrases jotted down. Besides that if you study her review sheets before midterm and final and focus on a specific week, you should be good.
Amazing introduction to Political Science. Golob is very knowledgeable and will expect you to read the assigned chapters. Texts are a little dense but nothing you shouldn't be able to handle. Midterm and Final are graded very fairly, would even say easy for 2001. Just pay attention to the main themes she repeats and you'll be fine. Would take again
Professor Golob is very knowledgeable and passionate about political science. She assigns TONS of readings and expect you to read all of them. Her class is basically her talking non-stop the entire time, so you can get bored and lose focus sometimes. One midtern, one final and an individual discussion leader project.
Loved her. She's so passionate about the subject and it makes the class much more interesting. There's a lot of reading but it's usually interesting and no textbook. No papers, just 2 tests, discussion, and a short activity. Gives very detailed review outline for tests. Fairly easy class if you read and show up. Very fair grader. Take her
Grading criteria was: midterm 30%, Final 40%, participation 30%. There are a lot of readings for this class but at least they're free. Her lecture is literally just her talking your ear off for two hours. She is a fair grader. Read the assigned articles, participate , try to pay attention and you'll get a good grade.
Do not take this class. I repeat, do not take this class. You have to do about 50 pages of reading every week and the reading material is not always clear and easy to understand. She talks for 1 hr and 15 min straight and her notes are difficult to understand. The worst part: midterm and final. SO EXTREMELY HARD and time consuming and makes you cry
