Hated every second of this class during the semester. Quizzes were so hard for no reason, wording made no sense and was confusing, everything was made more difficult than it needed to be. Do not waste your money on this class or professor.

I would not recommend this course if you do not have an interest in history/international relations. There are multiple pre-recorded lectures a week, but I found them interesting and informative so it was not a struggle for me. Yes, the quizzes can be a bit hard but read the chapter and watch the lectures and they are passable.

Dr. Hallock is one of the best professors I had at HCC. She is intelligent and knows the course material like the back of her hand. In addition, she has no shame in discussing current events after class. If you want to develop a broader understanding of politics or international relations, take one of her classes!

Dr. Hallock is a great professor! She is incredibly well educated, and serves a role on the Council on Foreign Relations. Her lectures are entertaining and an environment is fostered for all political views to coexist without judgement. PS205 uses a game called statecraft, adding a fun element to the curriculum. She's also very understanding.

I took 3 classes with Professor Hallock, and Urban Government and Politics was thought-provoking. The course is primarily graded on papers and journals, but the instructor provided excellent feedback on each assignment. Yet, I do not recommend taking this class if you are not interested in urban politics because it has a lot of reading material.
