Prof Issac is a great teacher and really tries her best to ensure all the students understand whats going on. She has a wicked sense of humor and is easy on the eyes!
She doesn't know how to teach properly. She gave us a review for the exam, and it turns out the exam didnt' cover hardly any of the material that was on the review. She's one tough Kookie, and not helpful at all! I suggest you don't waste ur time with having her class!
doesn't allow calculators during class or on tests which is ridiculous in upper math classes and is not helpful. she should be teaching calculator skills on top of everything else, not banning them. not everyone is rainman. she's very strange and over the top hard about grading the pages and pages of hw she requires.
Issac isn't a great teacher, she doesn't allow calulators on quizzes or test, and doesn't even teach how to use the calulators correctly. Her teaching method is like we are in middle school.
Didn't answer questions clearly at all.
Isaac is friendly and humorous, but an extremely poor teacher. Her grading scale is uneven, rushed, and WILL effect your overall grade. I would avoid taking another class with her at all costs.
I think she is a good teacher, however i can see where someone does not like her. She talks down to you but at the same time it makes you understand. I think that she has helped me personally.
If you take this class-Plan to teach yourself or go to the learning lab.
I had Prof. Isaac for MAT161 and MAT162. Many people dislike her for her restriction on calculators. By teaching you to do the work without one, she prepares you for later calculus classes properly. This gets her a lot of bad feedback though with comments like "she's too hard." Enthusiastic and always helpful.
She has NO business teaching! She assumes you know what she is talking about and when you ask her questions she talks down to you. She also likes to tell you to "go to the learning lab". Her "encouragment" is "well, worst case scenario is you will have to repeat the class", which I have heard from her three times now!!!!! Don't waste your time!
I liked her style of teaching, she treats you like you're in elementary school and honestly I'm not strong in math, so I didn't mind it, but she does not prepare you for the final exam well at all. The no calculators thing is terrible and unfair, considering that all of the other MAT011 classes used them. Overall-she's frustrating.
She is a great teacher. She shows you how to do the problems in class but it is up to you to figure them out at home. Yes...you should use the learning lab if you have problems, your success is up to you. They provice wonderful assistance. You can use calculators on homework...you don't need them for exams.
ah...! never again and i like all professors. very unclear, confusing and if you have something that you need minor clarification on something dont bother asking or you'll end up more confused then when you started. positive- she allows you to retake tests, after going over the material with her(really cool there).
AWFUL...treated you like the world's dumbest person if you didnt understand something the first time. Has a bad attitude, and by the end of the semester our class had six or seven people left in it..i do NOT recommend her.
She made me feel so nervous. She failed me on a pop quiz because I didn't write the whole problems out to her liking, even though I came up with correct answers. She screamed at someone for bring a calc. into her room. I dropped her before I gave her the satisfaction of failing me. Obviously she has problems and takes it out on her students.
Awesome instructor. If you want to be coddled even though you don't want to do any of your own thinking/learning, then you will not like this instructor. If you are looking to actually be prepared for future math classes, you will appreciate this instructor. I hated the way she answered my questions until I understood why! Love her!
answers your questions with a question leaving you more confused. Your best bet if you take her class is to attend class and go straight to the learning lab because that is the only way you will learn anything. If you have problems with people treating you like you are ignorant I highly recommend staying away from this class.
I Loved her!!!!! I took mat 161 during summer with her. I loved that we couldn't use our calculator because that way you learn where everything comes from and I loved how she connected the problems to everyday things. I really do not understand why she has such a low rating! She's been one of my favorite math teacher and I hate math.
The lower-level math classes must be hard to teach, since there are so many math-hating students who are only there because it's the only math class they'll ever need in college. Isaac can be vague, and she could definitely make greater use of classroom technology, but the loud Snooki-type students glued to their cell phones were my real problem.
Poor at teaching, ruin your interest level..hard to follow... Would never never again sit in one opf her classes.
Not a helpful teacher at all. She doesn't care or take the time to help you with the concepts. I will never take her class again
She is a true teacher. The one thing you want to be aware of is that if you are a quick learner and good at math, you might want to get someone who's on a faster speed. She makes you understand so you are able to apply knowledge. Never talked down at anyone(people are making up things, i think). She does answer yr q-ns w/a q-n, but it only helps yo
What a terrible teacher! Her work load is impossible, she spends times on the most minute details and doesn't help at all with the obnoxious amount of homework problems. She likes to say, "Worst comes to worst you'll have to take the class again." I was always good at math until I got to this class. There are three tests and a TON of homework.
Great professor! Struggled with her teaching style a bit, but if you use the tutoring center, and go over the homework BEFORE class you will get more out of it. Never thought I could ever get a B in math, but Sthephanie showed me I could!! Oh and she's scary smart!
Professor Isaac is a fair teacher. I hate math before her class and now I love it. She does give a lot of homework but it counts as an exam. That helps take the pressure off you on the actual exams. She is available if you need help you must put the time in to her class. If you do you will get a good grade.
She teaches well, however she presents certain questions which can be interpretted as demeaning, though I'm sure she doesn't mean to come across that way. For instance, she will ask the class why 0.39¢ is different from $0.39, which I see the point of being concise and to label, but we are not idiots.
Horrible teacher. All my friends complain about her. She gives out homework and vaguely goes over the material. She looks like Peter Griffin.
Teaches like dora the explorer. Shes very rude. LOTS OF HOMEWORK. Just a overall know it all that doesn't know how to teach it. loved math until I took this class. Waste of your money and time. Highly not recommended
Their aren't enough characters for me to properly express my hatred of this lady. Frankly, the fact that she still has a teaching job thoroughly astounds me.
This woman is the worst professor on the planet. First lets stay Im taking precalc and she doesnt allow calculators. the problems we do in class are so easy, but when it comes to a test it takes 45 min to do one problem and there are 25 problems on the test. She does not know how to teach at all. All she does is ask the same question over and over.
This professor won't help the students at all and expects them to solve the problem(s) on their own while in class. Plus, this professor expects the students to not be able to use a calculator while in class even though it's required in the syllabus and to help get ready for Calculus. Lastly, the professor skips around the chapters in the textbook.
Worst professor I've ever had the displeasure of being taught by. She teaches by asking the class what we should do next (which should be good). But there were multiple classes where we spent an hour doing a problem the WRONG WAY. She also teaches in a very derogatory manner, in such a way that you feel more stupid when you leave than when you came
Worst math professor ever! Not fit to teach. She guides students in the material rather than teaches it. Doesn't allow calculators when it is required in the syllabus and expects students to solve everything themselves. Doesn't give answers directly, almost like a guess if its actually right or not. Makes you feel like you might learn something.
Professor Isaac is an excellent math professor. She is a true teacher that expects you to think for yourself. She does not allow you to use a calculator, so you can truly learn the mechanics of mathematics. If you do your homework and study you will do well in her class. If you need help she is available during office hours and at the tutoring lab.
The best advice I can give is not to take her class. She teaches by asking vague questions about a problem that has already been solved. She expects the students to provide the proper names of all the aspects of the problem rather than understanding how to solve it. Her lectures do not prepare you at all for her tests. Calculators are prohibited.
You must be open minded to learn new things. Professor Isaac's teaching style makes you think for yourself instead of following math rules. She's incredibly intelligent and respectable. I would recommend her to anyone interested in expanding their learning capabilities.
She's kind of friendly, but definitely not personable. She doesn't even teach, she goes over one math problem a class and solves the problem by using riddles. She CLEARLY talks down on students, anytime you ask for help, she'll pretty much make you feel stupid. She also makes it clear that you have to commit 25-30 hours a week to her class.
Good luck passing. She will repeat the same thing over and over again for a good 20 minutes. Its an achievement if she accomplishes two problems in an hour and half. She will make you feel stupid for asking questions or not understanding. It's also her way or the highway.
The best advice I an give someone is to drop the class right now. The only possible reason this "teacher" is here is because of her tenure. She makes the students do all of the work during the class and when you ask a question makes you feel like a dumbass for even asking the question. DO NOT TAKE.
Avoid this Professor at all costs. She cannot teach, she's rude, and she looks down on everyone. She basically called me a liar when she said we had learned something WE NEVER WENT OVER. Her quizzes are insanely hard. The HW is ridiculous. A teacher that depends on her students going to tutors to pass her class is clearly not doing her job. Worst!!
do not take her, she will ask the class to do a problem on the board and she won't anything if you make a mistake until its 5 minutes late then she will fly through how to do it, not very helpful. Your better off with Ukazime, he is way better and fun.
Think about it this way. I would get Fs on the homework because I wouldn't do things her way I guess? but A's on the tests. How does that make sense? Worst teacher I've ever had.
If you don't do everything her way, you're wrong. She's rude and answers questions so sarcastically to the point where no one even wants to ask. She grades homework by skipping around and picking random problems to grade so if you got only one question wrong you could still only get a 60% on the homework. Awful professor.
Absolutely terrible worst teacher ever you will fail
Worst professor I've ever had. She will embarrass you in front of the class if you fail any of her tests. Dropped the class immediately and took it again with a better professor.
She is a terrible teacher; her teaching makes no sense and you will not understand the material. If you ask her a question, she gives you "riddles" to get to your answer. I retook the class and received a B, so there is more empirical proof that she is an abhorrent teacher.
the professor is horrible, she teaches her way and that's it, she doesn't teach well. she doesn't make material easy if anything she makes it harder, her terminology is weird and you'll just be confused. ask a question she'll make you feel like your stupid , shes not open to different teaching styles which is horrible. need to go back for training
worst teacher iv ever had took her class for a month and droped it ended up getting a full refund because she was that bad retook the class with Robbie pellman WHICH I HIGHLY recommend or mark McFadden both ARE EXCELENT TEACHERS WILLING to work with students. she will also refuse to answer any question and tell you to look at the syllabus or notes
Dont take her. Shes rude, wont answer questions, her way or the high way, doesnt teach with the text book but its the only source of review you have (doesnt teach w/ book but its used for hwk), test she gives you an hour to complete, oh tutoring better get it from her bc the others dont do it her way therefore not correct.
She doesn't teach what's in the book, but still expects you to do the homework in the book. Her test questions are vague and unclear as to what she wants you to do. Her teaching methods are awful. She's rude and condescending. She is without a doubt the worst teacher I've had in my entire life. I did poorly because her class is so poorly structured
Professor Isaac is clearly intelligent, but I find that her teaching techniques do not work for me or many of my classmates. She is quite condescending at times and makes material more difficult to understand. If you have ever struggled with math - this professor is certainly not for you.
Her class was the hardest thing I've done. Her tests are a combined total of 75% of your grade. Your not allowed to use a calculator at all. I would not recommend this professor to anyone!
I wish that I had read these comments prior to taking her class. Clearly she is a smart woman; she'll let you know that time and time again. All the comments on this page are true, she is a very hard instructor to relate to. I've seen another student in tears because she couldn't grasp the problem and the Prof was talking down to her. Don't do it
She is extremely condescending. It takes her about 2 classes to complete one problem. She doesnt teach to the book. The answers for the homework are in back of book so even when you check for accuracy you will still most likely receive a failing grade on it. The homework makes up 20 percent of your grade so this is terrible. SHE IS AWFUL.
I took this class as a refresher before moving onto Calc at a 4-year college and it was a big mistake. In my (and many of my classmates') opinion, Professor Isaac is rude, unclear, and backwards as a teacher. If you volunteer your take on a problem she will outright embarrass you in front of the class, and I always left feeling worse off
Unclear and condescending during class. Instead of answering questions she expects you to search out for all answers for the questions you have.
makes math you learned in 8th grade feel like the hardest thing youve ever done. also makes you feel dumb for not understanding when it seems like her personal goal is making us feel stupid. if its not done exactly what wants it done (depends on the day) than good luck. save your sanity, time and money; dont take this class.
Mrs. Isaac was actually a fantastic teacher. She makes you work hard by emphasizing making you figure out how the math works for yourself, which can be slow at first but really pays off toward the end of the semester. Study. Her exams test everything you've learned but aren't hard, as long as you know the material. Overall, difficult but fair.
She is the absolute worst professor I have ever taken. She is beyond condescending and takes points off for a grammatical or spelling error even if the mathematical answer was correct. DO NOT TAKE!!! She should not be allowed to teach classes at all. She will make you leave class either pissed off or in tears. Does not want you to succeed.
I wish I would have read all her reviews and talked to former students before I took this class. She is hands down the worst professor I have had in my LIFE. She spends most all of her class time on one single problem. She didn't even have a clear textbook, just a link to a different source where she assigned homework not related to classwork.
i'm not excellent in math, but i can tell you that 350 characters is not enough to explain how terrible stephanie isaac is as a professor. you don't get taught in class so have fun using the internet to figure things out yourself!! quizzes are like half the time you actually need to do them so you will either be sloppy or just not finish.
She is the worst professor ever. She takes a whole class to teach one problem and assigns so much homework and most topics we havent covered.I do not recommend.
Professor Isaac is someone that made everyone feel like she didn't want us to succeed in the class. I would tell anyone who struggles with math in the slightest to avoid, because she also does math in her own personal way which is inaccessible. She cops attitude at every question asked, making things MORE confusing, rather than clarified. Avoid...
I took online precalc 2 and her videos were great (long but they made sense). Too bad she never taught how to do the graded hw (65+ questions took me 4 hours cause I had to teach myself everything). Beyond frustrating and disappointed. Lost money. Had to withdrawal cause she cannot teach.
Currently taking Professor Isaac for an ASYNC class. She gives you videos to help learn how you will be doing the homework and quizzes but it is up to you to practice how to apply them. Do the ungraded assignments every week as well as the graded and you will do well in this course.
Just don't take her. None of her videos line up with homework or quizzes or exams. Just not a great teacher. She understands what she's saying but she cannot relay it for the life of her. I just kept saying Cs get degrees this whole semester.
I would not recommend her. Other people have said all I wanted to say.
I really hate her videos, they meander and take a long time to get to the point while not covering some topics that are present in the homework. That being said, the homework does thoroughly prepare you to move forward in mathematics, and I especially feel as though I retained concepts very well through this weekly HW and self-teaching on Youtube.
Never again. 0/10.
The worst professor dont take her class at all. All the bad reviews are truthful.
literally just horrible, doesn't teach, and is disrespectful. if I asked a question it was answered with another question, and disrepectfully, and at the end of the day my questions were never answered. your gonna be learning English and writing essays the first few weeks but your going to have homework and quizzes based of what you didn't learn.
super condesending, rude, disrespectful. if you ask a question prepare for attitude and no answer, its like she doesn't want us to succeed, so why is she a proffesor if she doesn't want to teach and help us learn
Do not take her class words cannot express on how bad of a professor she is she does not answer any questions is very rude in disrespectful to students and would move fast her homework and test grading is very heavy and she takes points off for the smallest reasons overall not great she made me drop out of college.
If you struggle with math at all, do not take any of her classes. The lectures are a joke and no one ever knows what shes talking about. if you ask her any questions, she will either give you attitude making you feel like a fool, or its answered with a question that makes no sense. Everyone in my class dropped it and i wish I did too.Waste of money
Please avoid her. I needed to switch to online classes towards the end of the drop period so I didn't have much say in what classes I was put into. She has attitude for no reason. Every well constructed and respectful email I sent her came with a snappy reply. Overall a difficult and unwelcoming class with no kindness towards those who pay for it.
I am not a math person, but words cannot describe how awful my experience with Prof. Isaac has been. The notes she gives are complete gibberish, it takes a whole period to solve one problem, and she's awful about guiding us through said problem. Easily one of the worst math classes I've ever had the displeasure of taking.
You will regret it.
Do not take her class — words cannot express how bad of a professor she is. She does not answer students' questions clearly, often gives vague or dismissive responses, and is consistently rude and disrespectful. She speaks in a condescending tone, making students feel uncomfortable asking for help.
She's also extremely passive-aggressive. If someone gave a wrong answer, she'd make sarcastic remarks or sigh loudly instead of helping us understand what went wrong.
When no one knew the answer to something, she would just tell us to ask our partners. But when everyone was confused, we'd sit in awkward silence for 20 minutes with no guidance, until someone randomly guessed the answer correctly. It was humiliating and completely unproductive. If I were the dean,I would seriously question how she still has a job.
To put my experience in perspective, in the time it took her a cumulative 4 hours of videos on one topic; I can read for 15- 20 mins in the textbook and achieve a far superior understanding of the the contents. Simply a waste of time, and effort. Do not watch her videos!
I decided to take prof. Isaac biggest mistake ever even it's online nope she's the WORST her video lectures take TOO LONG to solve ONE SIMPLE PROBLEM also she's very tough on grading one mistake POINTS OFF and my experience emailing prof Issac she is VERY RUDE to the point where she doesn't REPLY BACK TO MY EMAILS this is a warning DO NOT TAKE HER!
Her lectures are a Joke. First of all there's only like 6 or 3 people left in the class prof. Isaac is the worst it takes an entire class period to solve one simple problem and she still will get it wrong no matter what when we try to correct her she will get really angry and she going aggressive this is the worst professor I ever had DO NOT TAKE.
Do not take her at all even the courses she does as well.
Prof Isaac is the perfect example of everything a teacher should not be. Unhelpful when teaching material, repetitive homework taking too long to complete and feels like punishment, very liberal use of negative points on tests, and an awful attitude for those who cannot understand her teaching method. 350 characters cannot describe how awful she is
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR Precalculus I this is a warning to drop or switch to a different professor I took her for spring 2025 SHE WAS NOT HELPFUL VERY RUDE AND SNAPS BACK AT YOU I EMAIL HER ONCE AND SHE GIVE ME THE NASTIEST REPLY EVER. ALSO VERY TOUGH ON GRADING AND HER VIDEOS TAKE FOREVER TO understand please avoid her 350 words isn't enough.
MAT161 Precalculus I words cannot describe on Prof. Isaac at all she horrible her notes are gibberish TERRIBLE HAND WRITING AS WELL VERY RUDE AND Passive Aggressive also tough on grading TAKES OFF POINTS FOR SMALL MISTAKES SHE TAKES A HOLE VIDEO TO FINISH ONE PROBLEM TEACH THIS COURSE YOURSELF MAN SHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH AVOID HER!!!
This is the worst professor I ever took in my life as a non degree student there's lots of homework her recorded lectures are USELESS they take the entire video to make also she's passive aggressive as when I email her she reply back in a snappy way I regret taking her but I pass her with an A I should've took the other one online.
Stephanie Isaac is by far the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. Most class time is spent in silence, while she tells you to teach yourself the info. the rest of class time, she speaks to you in riddles. She even treats you like you are in preschool. I'm serious, we spent half a class counting from 1 to 10 out loud. We did this 12 times. Run!!
Inspiring teachers should not use her as a role model.
She's a horrible grader. Each quiz and exam you have to submit your work, which is fine, but the issue is how you show the work especially if it's not done the way she wants it despite CLEARLY showing how you got the answer. I've had to teach myself because her lectures are also bad. As long as my work leads to the answer I shouldn't lose points.
Save yourself the trouble. Yes, I took this course asynchronously online, but there was little to no instruction at all. I learned through a team of online sources I found myself. If you email her she gets back to you pretty quick, but in a cryptic, completely confusing, worse off than you started way. Weirdo and not a teacher at heart.
Rude, sarcastic, IMPOSSIBLE to pass even with hours of effort and self-teaching. Learned to always check rate my professor.
She is genuinely the worst teacher I have ever experienced in my life, she is rude, every question you ask will be followed with a question you will never get a clear answer. She teaches you like you are two years old, most people dropped the class or stopped showing up and overall i don't have a single nice thing to say about her.
Honestly do not be like I and think this class can't be that bad. She cannot teach, one problem per week, her tests have literally no grading scale its insane. Homework often has like 50 questions + quiz, half of which you will struggle to answer because it doesn't line up with the one problem, she taught that week. She's also super snarky, Run.
Grading sucks!!! She gives too much homework each week and this was a 15 week course!!!
Around 60 homework questions every week, which felt excessive for the credit value. Three major exams; failing even one has a huge negative impact on your final grade. Quizzes contribute very little to the overall grade. Despite earning B/A grades in my other classes, this one was significantly harder and not a good use of my time.
