Dr. Brewer (her maiden name) is an exceptional professor. I have learned a lot from her, and have been helped a lot by her. I recommend her, though her 122 final was the hardest I ever took.
Tests are difficult, but there is a lower grading scale and in-class assignments. Relates things to everyday life...mostly food examples or examples about her husband.

Shes moody, and tough, not a pleasant combination.
By far she is a workaholic! I have taken multiple classes with her and she is a tough person to learn off of for me. Very intelligent and funny. I think my run is finished though!
She is much tougher than nearly all other IUP professors. She is friendly and knows her stuff, but prepare to work like there's no tomorrow. Her tests are longer than the Boston Marathon.
I know more about her husband than I think she does sometimes. She never shuts up about him. Oh well Love will do that to you!
She is VERY nice, but VERY hard!! VERY VERY HARD!
A good teacher, however this is college and she gives busy work. Students in college should not be graded on study habits, and giving them homework problems does not constitute good teaching, it means the students teach themselves.
Dont take her! Her tests are soo hard no matter how hard you study!

nice teacher but she is hard, especially the tests.
DO NOT TAKE HER ... hard tests, lots of work, and will keep you in class for the complete hour and a half every since time, and sometimes even longer, when people are just getting up and leaving on the normal time. She never cancels class, has a horrible
Lecture is boring and VERYsimplistic. Very screechy voice, talks about food a lot - making me hungry. Tests are extremely hard. Large essay portion with poorly written, very generalized questions. Not many chances to improve your grade. Avoid if possible.
Knows her ****, is amazing at Econ. tough, but worth it. Is lenient on turn in times for those of you in uppers. Gatekeeper for major. :-D Love her.
She's a nice lady but...tests are really hard, homework is stupid, classes run the FULL hour and a half, sometimes longer, and lectures are pretty boring...if you're looking for an easy A, take her husband apparently...but stay away from her :/
If you want to actually LEARN economics, take her. If you don't, maybe you should take another liberal studies course. Seriously, she is great and the only complaints about her are from people who just wanted an easy A.
Amazing prof. Always has a real life example or movie clip to explain a concept. Always really excited about the subject. Very honest with students, doesn't talk down. She's the reason I'm an econ major, she makes the subject real.
Very nice!! The course is hard but she does a great job of trying to make it easier for you. I highly recommend her to non-traditional students. Oh, she gives out candy to help explain principles! Great professor!
I took her in the summer for Econ 122 and got a B. She does keep you the whole time, but you actually learn. Isn't that what we are paying for? Tests are hard, study for them. She is very caring and uses lots of examples. Take colored pencils!!!!
DO NOT TAKE HER. I always went to her office hours for help and she never did. She's very unclear and tells too many stories about her husband instead of the material. If the tests were on her husband, I would've gotten an A. Stay Away!!!!!
She's awesome--always pleasant in class and takes time to explain material. She gives great examples and makes the math easy (and I suck at math). Her exams aren't easy, but if you study, you're fine. She also offers multiple extra credit opportunities.
She is hard but not impossible. She always comes to class pleasant and tells funny stories about her husband. We got candy one day in class. If you're looking to learn a lot like you should be at college then take her. Easy A people should look elsewhere.
absolutely horrible...do not waste your time i tried extremely hard and barely got a C. Do not take her...favortism of males.
Her tests are very hard. And her final is long and cumulative. I never missed a class and tried very hard but ended up with a B.I would recommend taking someone else.
Her test are very hard but everything on the test is from her lecture. She's ok but wouldn't be my first recommendation.
Her tests are very hard and very long. No matter if you study or not you either no it or you don't. She gives way too many personal examples and is very unclear about what points she is trying to make.
one word...TERRIBLE
Great prof. Teaches everything very clearly. Expects students to work hard, but rewards it. Not an easy class, but you will learn a ton.
Dr. J is awesome. If you are really intersted in learning economics, take her! If you are lazy, and want an easy out, don't. She has high standards for her students and isn't afraid to let you know about. Go to her office hours, always willing to help!
She is possibly the best professor I have ever had here at IUP. I hated Econ before taking her micro class and I now am minoring in it. She is a little tough but if you go to class and study a little you should get at least a B. Talk to her, shes always willing to help.
Hard Class. She is always willing to help. But it is still hard. Mult. choice questions worth 3.5 pts. So, you miss a few you are done. I just can't get over how hard her test are.
Her tests are hard. She's really nice, but she needs to not give such hard tests to people who dont care about Econ and only take it because they have to.
she's not that bad. yeah, you're going to have to work a little bit; that's what we're here to do. i'm glad i didn't buy the book; you don't use it. if you do all the homework, study before class for a two question quiz once a week, and can pull c's on her tests.. you're golden. got a B in the class
Amazing prof, explains everything really well with lots of good examples from real life. Not that hard a class if you just GO TO CLASS everyday. Don't skip out on lectures, you will not keep up. But if you go to class and study a little, passing is easy and As aren't that hard.
She makes the material a lot harder than it needs to be. Her tests are ridiculous. I go to all the classes and get full credit for homework/quizzes, and study and still do poorly on the tests...wtf.
makes the material way to hard and the tests are impossible. try not to take her at all.
She's a really nice person but this was a tough class. She was willing to help when you needed it and made the class very interesting. You really need to know what you are talking about on the tests be/c they are tough. Mostly short answer and essay and they are tough questions, especially if you dont study. If you put forth an effort you will d
Lecture often does not follow exams.

One of the best. You will learn in this class. To understand the concept is to earn an A.
This class is ROUGH! The lectures are really boring, but you HAVE to pay attention if you want to do well. She only asks application questions - no straight forward stuff - on the exams. Unless you want to study your butt off for a class you don't care about, don't take her.
She is a great teacher, she's fun, and you can learn a lot from her. Her classes are harder than some, but it's well worth it for what you get out of them. Don't miss class, pay attention and take good notes, and do the practice problems and tests, and you should be able to do well.
Really good prof; harder than some others in the dept, but if you attend class and pay attention, you should do fine and learn a ton. Really great if you're a major, but might not be worth the work if you aren't.
This lady is the most boring professor, I have ever had to sit through. She is only helpful in office hours where she slows down enough to understand what she is saying. When she ask questions, she is greeted with stares because she must be speaks a hyperactive language. I wish I would have taken Julian instead.
She is very boring. Nice, but boring. She was very hard in my opinion. If your not an economics major..do not take her. I was failing her class so i withdrew from it. I retook with another prof and got a B.
Very hard professor. Explains things, but not in the best manor, monotone voice, get bored very easily, dont take her unless there is no one else. Hands attendance sheet around at end of class so you have to stay for the whole thing. gives pop quizes when attendance is low. Only get 3 test and a final, questions are pretty straight forward but you
Amazing teacher. She makes economics really fun and interesting. While her tests are difficult, if you come to class and pay attention, they're not bad.
Omg!! I so can not stand this lady. She is boring and I can barely pay attention in her class. The way she explains things are so unclear. I didnt use my book that much though, because she makes you print out these annoying notes from a powerpoint. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone. I choose her as a last resort. :-/
She expects a lot from her students. She is very fair and willing to help you whenever you need it. She definitely cares about her students and wants to see them succeed. Don?t take her if all you want to do is memorize material for an easy A. Take her if you learn the material and be challenged, because she most definitely knows her stuff.
you dont need the book if you print out her powerpoints she makes. her class wasn't that easy, but i def. learned a lot. homework is easy, there are 4 question quizzes every week&the exams aren't that difficult if you pay attention in class. i passed my first two exams with B's and did all the work&i only need to pass half the final to keep an A
Professor was very willing to help. It was a challenging class for me but I studied hard and learned alot from this class with the help of this professors teaching.
I am in her class right now. She is nice and knows her stuff. She makes her tests way too tough tho, on the first exam the class average was a 62. I thought the stuff on the first test would be review, but with the way she taught it, I had to learn it all over again. I am a consistent A/B student, and I studied my butt off, but I only got a 67. BS
i mean i don't like the class. i had an F at first, started going to SI sessions and ended up getting the highest grade on the next test. it's not that hard if you understand it but the way she words questions is really confusing
This teacher is very nice, but her tests are so hard, you think that some tests are hard, think again, these are 10000x worse. the final sucks, i cant stress enough how hard her tests are.
SO HARD, SHE MADE ME THINK I WAS GONNA GET A C BUT I GOT A D
Dr. J is a very amazing teacher. These people are rude that said these awful comments about her. She explains things SO incredibly clear with a ton of examples. No, it's not an easy A, but it's definitely possible to get one. Her test questions are similar to our homework questions. No book necessary. Awesome professor... learned a ton!
She's very clear in what she wants you to know. She builds slack into the grading to give you a hand up. --uses real world examples to help you understand what you are learning & how it is applied. You have to study & do the work, but she does EVERYTHING she can to TEACH you.-not just memorization but learning and understanding. very approachable
She knows her stuff, and she's excellent at taking obscure definitions and terminology and making it understandable. As long as you keep up with the homework, the tests should be mostly easy.
Hate it!!! save yourself now!! I repeat save yourself now!! sure she knows her stuff but she is very hard, and she does not break things down properly...This class is for econ majors or math majors not for students who are not good at math...If you are great at math you will do great if not...YOU ARE SCREWED!! Hard test hard quizzes! :-(
Simply AMAZING
This class will be very difficult if you dont show up! it is very easy to not go considering it is in an auditorium setting and she will never know if you are there or not. the quizzes are hard. the tests are even harder. study study study, then study some more!
Her tests are unreal, not that they are extremely hard it is the way she words the questions.
Awesome professor. A lot of people say she's bad but I think she's amazing! Her tests were fair and she gave assignments to even things out. Her writing intensive class barely had any writing in it. You do have to do the work, but there is not a lot of it (at least in 345). I cannot see why people dislike her.
Tells a lot of pointless stories that don't relate at all. Her tests are really hard and she has the most annoying voice ever.
She tells random stories that have nothing to with economics. Also I didn't find her to be helpful when I asked for assitance. She prejudges students based upon attendance. Test are difficult and she adds extra points from her mistakes so she wont have to curve. One of the worst teacher I have had in my 4 years.
Imagine Marla Singer from Fight Club and add 20 years of age. This is Jozefowicz. She has an incredibly annoying voice, she judges students based on attendance (even though it is not mandatory), and goes off on tangents rather than teaching. Never again, Stephanie. Never again.
Lets just say that I am not happy with the way she talked to me and also the way she words things is very confusing. Apparently everyone else works harder than me, in an easy entry level online class with all there struggling and whatnot... Its easy just DO NOT
Her voice volume is always at a scream. The class is generally easy. With minimal studying you'll at least get a C. The homework has unlimited attempts and those really help your point total. Few bonus points given out. Quizzes once a week. Read the powerpoints, do the homework, show up for quizzes and tests, and bring earplugs.
I think she is just as nice as the Mr. Dr. J. Her tests are definitely lengthy and you have to know what you're talking about or you will not finish, but she presents the material very clearly at a modest pace. She is always willing to go over material again for clarity. You actually do need the book for this class though, be warned.
She is nice but this class is hard. If you are not amazing at test taking dont take this class. tests are long, 75% of your grade, have so much info on them and are graded very hard. Hardly any extra credit is given. Tests are all graphs and essay/short answer. No mutiple choice at all. She expects you to be a genius.
Great Professor!! She was very thorough and had an obvious passion for the subject. There is a TON of points in the class and if you just do all of the work it really is an easy grade.
I love her class, the exams ARE lengthy and have a lot of material in them but she does give you a practice exam and if you can study the practice exam and know what its about, you'll do fine on the exams. There are also a lot of take home assignments and article readings(current events)
She's a really nice lady. Her exams are really long and she doesn't really give you enough time to do them, but she also curves them if people don't do well. You do not need the text book. Teaches straight from a powerpoint that she puts online so if you miss class, nbd.
Before this class I had her husband in Econ 122. I got an A in his class. I take her class and get a low C. She is extremely boring and doesn't explain things well at all. I suggest taking her husband and not her.
Such a good, clear, concise teacher! really cares about you and cares about teaching you about the world. take her and her husband if you get a chance. helpful kind and such an interesting class! do the homework because there is a lot but it is easy. tests are on the stuff you learn. a lot of writing essay tho
Tons of online assignments, but they are easy and boost your grade. There's also a weekly quiz, so you can't miss class. However, she is super nice and tries her best to make things 100% clear. She curved all of the tests my class took, and it helped me out a lot. Not much individual attention, but you probably won't need it- the lectures are clear
Attend class, do the online HW and you will at least get a B. Tests are not easy but even if you do bad there are a lot of homework and quiz points to boost your grade. If you need anything explained just ask shes more than happy to help.199
Dr J is awesome! She genuinely cares about her students and really knows what she's talking about. There is a good amount of online homework but earning an A in her class is pretty easy
Dr. J. was great to have for an ECON prof. Extremely nice, uses great examples in class. Lectures can feel extremely long sometimes. Exams take most of the class time. She uses news articles and you must interpret what the article is saying based on what you learned in class. I heard mixed feelings before taking her class, but she's worth taking.
Harsh grader, and if you don't study hard you won't pass, but she was always fair.
Definitely recommend. If given the chance to take another Econ class with her I would definitely do it! If you study and pay attention in lectures you're bound to pass
My main complaint is she goes a little too fast with lectures and doesn't give enough examples for math related material but she does post the powerpoints on D2L which is helpful. Homework is on a website we had free access to. Do the homework and you'll keep a good grade to help make up for her tests which can be rough so study the book and notes.
Class notes, examples, and everything she provides really helps. She is very involved and hands on. Very fair.
Uses good examples & makes sure everyone understands material.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken. I have never gotten anything lower than a b overall in a class except this one. Unless you plan on making this class your whole priority you will not do good. Lecture was boring and you could not find the notes anywhere. Do not take this if you want an easy class because it was not easy at all.
I took this class online and thought I was going to get an easy A, but that was not the case. Test and quizzes are very hard and challenging. If I were going to do this again I would just take it in class with a different teacher and get an A.
Awesome prof, really helpful and reviews a lot. Lots of room for extra credit.
I was going to do a business minor so this would have counted but changed my mind due to disinterest in the subject matter. Dr. J made this class bearable, and I was able to understand this even though I don't care for econ. Lots of hw with unlimited tries that boosts your grade. Put in the effort you'll do well. Take her if taking econ 122!
Dr. J is one of the most amazing professors I've had. She cares so much about her students' learning and goes to great lengths to make sure everyone understands what's going on in class. The homework on My Accounting Lab is extremely beneficial and is similar to the quizzes/exams.
She is a really nice teacher. If you come to class, pay attention, and read over the notes after class you should do fine. She has you print out powerpoints with places to fill in the blanks. She uses pearson and assigns usually 2 to 3 assignments per week (Tuesday Thursday class). Lots of points in the class so it helps a ton though.
This instructor is very nice, but her lectures are hard to understand and she does a poor job of explaining lessons we go over in class.
I thought the instructor was a very nice lady, but her tests were extremely difficult. I also think that this instructor could have done a better job at explaining the curriculum. I found that the lectures did little to improve my understanding of the material throughout the course.
She's a very thorough professor, which is good. However, there is tons of homework required for class and it was actually a pretty hard class for it just being ECON 101. I also felt that some of the questions were much harder than what we went over in class, so you really had to study and use the book for help. She's not too bad though.
Dr. J is one of my favorite professors! She cares about her students and genuinely wants you to succeed. Excellent professor! Econ 356 requires you to do a lot of work- you get out what you are willing to put in. If you are willing to work hard, do the readings, and do the homework you will be fine. If not, expect it to be hard. I loved this class.
As a person, she is a wonderfully nice professor. But her class is a nightmare to take if you aren't an Econ Major or interested in economics. Understanding the work is easy but the quizzes and exams are very difficult and often cover more of the topics than the original readings did. Don't take this class for an elective!
I took the online economics course which was the only way I was able to fit it in my schedule. It was hard to find a way to teach myself the criteria, although I would figure it out through the homework. The exams usually don't have much to do with the homework for the lessons. I wouldn't take this course unless you are sufficient in self teaching.
Gives quizzes every week, relies heavily on notes. She does not explain math very well (in my opinion) & makes you spend $170 on an access code for Pearson Lab & a book (you don't even need the book but you use PL constantly). She is a nice lady but I wouldn't take again. She does offer quite a bit of extra credit but does not accept late work
Honestly, probably the worst professor I've ever had. Grading scores are all over the place with no clear reasoning. Effort to grade ratios are terrible at best. She posts your assignments as "Responses" without consent to other students as examples to do better. Very condescending and becomes agitated very easily. Seriously, don't take her class.
She's very nice and doing her best to adjust, post-covid. The lectures can move pretty quickly but everything's in powerpoints online so you can just catch up after. Too much homework for me though
She's a nice lady overall, but she assigns a bunch of dumb busy work. Her PowerPoints are like 100 slides and she just gives a bunch of busy work overall. Her exams are very hard too.
Dr. Jozefowicz is such a nice person but can be a hard grader. Her lectures are very important but sometimes goes through them fast. Exams are a little difficult but she does offer extra credit before the exams. I would recommend taking the class with her, just be ready to really study for exams.
I think that she was a good professor, however she did my teach this like it was a 100 level class. I think she is very smart but her teaching style is much to advanced and fast paced for beginner level required courses. I also think it is extremely unnecessary for us to purchase the $170 person vue because it was similar to d2l.
Most difficult tests I've had, which would be fine, but gives NO time to study. 2-3 written assignments due EACH week, semester-long 30+ page journal analysis focus on, FULL essay once that's done while still getting your other 3 assignments/week from her, and still somehow expected to study for her own finals while keeping up with other classes.
Not a good professor for this class. just save yourself the trouble and the failed grade and take someone else.
Have her now, really nice but doesn't finish her lectures and makes you finish them outside of class to be ready for the quiz next class. Lots of math and hard quizzes given once a week. Treats it like you're an Economics major and should already know how to calculate things. It's week 3 and I'm already overwhelmed. Be ready to study alot!
She is a good teacher when it comes to having examples in lectures, however, she does give a lot of small quizzes, opportunities for extra credit, and in-class assignments. I did not like how everything she did was electronically on Pearson because it got hard to navigate and the assignments seemed difficult and hard to retain info.
Overall she is good at explaining what is covered in class. She has good examples to go with lectures and explains concepts you need help with. Put effort into studying throughout the semester to get a good grade. She does sometimes require you to teach yourself after class based on her slides. She provides a notes outline for each chapter as well.
Professor Jozefowicz is a knowledgeable but demanding instructor. The class has frequent quizzes and a heavy workload, including an expensive Pearson access code. However, she offers plenty of extra credit opportunities. With regular study using resources like unstuck ai, you can do well in this challenging but rewarding course.
She is a very good professor and gives you quite a few resources to help understand the material. But overall, the class is very hard. There is a quiz every week, multiple homework assignments, and the pace of the class is very quick. Plus, the textbook is very expensive for this being more of a beginner's course. Great professor, very hard class.
She already teaches at a rapid speed...and still doesn't always finish what she needs to in a 75-minute class. So, she has us 'teach ourselves' the stuff she didn't get to. Weirdly difficult for a non-major class, especially when compared to her husband's ECON121. Do not recommend.
What doesn't kill you, will be the only professor at IUP to make homework due at 10:30 in the morning.
She is super nice but lots of work. Personally i found this class very hard and dreaded it. There was homework every single day but she is a sweet person
