It's true that she isn't a great teacher and that she is basically our book in human form. BUT she is getting better with experience through this semester. And the course is pretty easy. I would probably recommend someone else though.
she is a very boring teacher, mostly all of her tests come from the book, if you want to learn anything in the class stay home and read the book, all she does in her lectures is talk about paintings. i use to like art before, but she just makes it so boring taht it's unbearible.
When you walk into class with her, its a given that she'll be perverbially reading out of the text book to you, its also a given that it'll be tedious work just to sit in her class, if i were aneibreated and went to her class, i'd probably learn more
wooster is off on her own planet, and a lot of times she messes things up and kinda expects us to just be able to read her mind so we know what she is talking about
she is the worst teacher i have ever had. she expects way too much from her students. she never looks up from the book she is reading. if you want to do well in this class dont go. ive done better in this class by reading the book and taking notes myself. as a bonus you dont have to listen to that stupid voice she has.
I dont like this teacher at all. This class is my HARDEST class, yes, ART is my hardest class. ridic.
there is way too much infromation on the exams to know for only three chapters. she also isnt very clear on what we need to know for the exam. dont take this class if you can its super hard. like 400 level class hard
Wooster is a moron. She doesn't cover all of the material which is on the exams, and half the material which she DOES cover ISN'T on the exams! I stopped going to class after a few weeks because you can learn the material better by just reading out of the book. By far the worst professor I have, and I can't believe she is still employed.
Horrible.
My class with Professor Wooster was her first class teaching in America. Her lectures are dreadful to sit through and her exams contain much more material than should ever be expected from a level 100 course. I would never take another course from her nor do I recommend anyone else to.

GET OUT! worst class you could sign up for. find a different class to satisfy the gen. ed. lectures are absolutely useless and frustrating, no notes or outlines are supplied. She rambles on without clear organization. If you are smart enough to be on rate my professor, hopefully you gave yourself enough time to get out of this class.
She is such a horrible teacher! She is by far my least favorite teacher. she is not helpful at ALL. If you have her i would recommend switching professors now.

I stopped going to her lectures because I was better off reading the book by myself. The material isnt too hard but there is ALOT of it! She spent time on bad info and skipped through her own notes, didnt put any notes online, wouldnt accept a late paper by one day. despite her being useless I read the book,took my own notes and got B's on exams.
Ms. Wooster is a very boring teacher. She primarily reads from her notes and the slides are very hard to follow. The tests are difficult. I emailed her questions a few times and she took a long time to respond. Plus, she was pretty rude in her response. I thought this class was supposed to be art appreciation, it was art history though.
The tests are very difficult, she is boring/ useless, and she is a horrible teacher. i haven't learned anything in this class. She is so vague about what is going to be on exams. It's basically a guess as to what is going to be on it.
Do not take this class. After this class, you will become worthless, and you will have no value on this earth.
She's incredibly confusing, unclear and a horrible instructor altogether. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS TO FILL A GEN ED....take film or something, i hear that's good. if you're interested in art at all, this is not the class for you...she's horrible! even on blackboard, she manages to confuse people! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I'm not even kidding. I took it to fill a gen ed... DON'T DO IT. It's NOT a good idea. She's seriously the worst teacher ever. She's confusing, her voice is obnoxious, and you will not learn ANYTHING.
VERY DIFFICULT CLASS! If you want to be lazy and not put in the work this class is not for you. I passed and did decent but her exams are very hard and the discussion class thats mandetory is a pain to go to but she's a nice lady though.
I mean this class was boring, but not that hard. She gave an extra credit quiz to help the first test score, and a study guide that covered everything on the second exam. It wasn't the traditional 101 level class though, id switch to like theater 101 or something.
All she does is lecture the whole class and her lectures often come right from the text. Very boring class, hard to pay attention. You really need to read the text book to pass. Test are very hard and has a lot of material on them. Goes through a lot of stuff very fast.
Horrible. She does not make the class or the material we're learning interesting at all. She also talks through her nose so I couldn't stand the sound of her voice. She lectures straight from the book but it's all hard to absorb so in order to get the material, you have to read the book before every exam. I would not recommend this class.
I hated this class, and I think it had mostly to do with her teaching style (or lack thereof). She went directly from powerpoints and the book, which was so mind-numbingly boring, I slept through most of the classes. I would NOT reccommend her AT ALL to anyone, no matter how much you like art.
zzzzzzzzzzz....oh sorry... wow shes boring, and the voice is guarenteed to go up your back. I liked art before I came to this class and now... well lets say my opinion has changed! Take someone else if you want to get anything out of it...
RUN IF YOU LIKE LIFE... She is the worst prof i have ever had! Her voice is so god awful, it drives me insane! Her voice waivers all the time and it sounds like she's going to cry half the time. Every class she stands at the desk, flips through slides, and reads directly from her notes...
Oh my god...so so boring! Unless you want to hear the phrase "and what have you" about 15 times per lecture and listen to her talk through her nose...wouldnt recommend her. Her tests basically had nothing to do with what she said in lecture anyways.
Hands down the worst professor I have ever had. Very dull, monotone, rather listen to nails screeching down a chalkboard, voice. Do yourself a favor and don't take her.
This class was by far the worst class I ever took at GV.Not only was she completely BORING, but her tests were very random and hard. Attendance was not manditory (I hardly went) and she posted her slides on BB. The only grades she had in the class were from the Exams, luckily the discussion class brought up my grade a lot. NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS!
Seriously this class will ruin your life. It's not hard at all, in fact, you really don't even have to go if you don't want to [just make sure you go to your discussion section, that's where your grade pretty much comes from, anyways]. She is an extremely annoying professor, if you can even call her that. Her favorite phrase is "what have you".
Basically you have to memorize the book and her slides for exams. There is no learning involved. Reading the book isn't really necessary if you actually go to class. I'd have to agree with everyone else, her favorite saying was, "what have you."
I would recommend switching out of this class if you alreday signed up. She is a nice lady, but bad teacher. Class is boring and tests are hard.

Wooster makes this class really boring! The huge amount of material covered and boring sound of her voice makes this class almost impossible! Her standards greatly exceed the level of an introductory class. If you are not interested in art history, don't take this class! I studied ALOT and struggled to get a B in this class!
I love art but she really made it as boring as possible to learn about it. She's probably really good at teaching it but it was just hard to stay focused. The tests were tricky at times and you really had to have the individual eras down pat. Her lectures were very organized though, so you could clearly follow along.

Professor Wooster is not very professional. She frequently cusses in class. Classes tend to be quite boring. However, she is good at letting us know what we need to study for exams, and she covers the information well.
This woman will drive you crazy if you take her class. She fades in and out of the microphone and blames everything on technology. Her lectures will put you to sleep, but you will be shocked into consciousness when her voice occasionally shouts things, and then other times it sounds like she is crying... I wouldn't do it if I were you.

Wooster is an ok teacher is you are good at math, she picks her favorites and sticks with them. If you are at all questionable about your ability in math, don't take her..she is not one for helpfulness at all.

Although her class was boring, as long as you went to class, took notes, and studied the test were easy... she was extremely helpful during office hours. Class wasn't interesting but going is the only way to pass the class.
This teacher has a terrible way of teaching. She teaches way too many things at once and expects every one to remember every piece of information for the exams. I could not get better than a C on her exams! Terrible class/teacher!
Overall not the worst gen ed. ive had to take at gv. Honestly attending the lectures were pointless and i used my lecture notes almost never. However, she does post a study guide for each of the three tests on bb which completely lays out everything from the exam. Read the book on what she tells you in the study guide and you will have succeed.
Seriously not even CLOSE to being as bad as everyone makes her out to be. Speaks very clearly and lays out all you need to know. Anyone who complains/can't succeed in her class probably won't do any better in another class; this is about as basic and straight forward as it gets. Give her a break, just read the book and put a little effort into it
Wooster was entertaining, to say the least. "Sassy" is a good word to describe her. Her tests weren't really easy, but if you go to class every day and study the notes, you won't have a problem. I thought she was funny when she yelled at people. :-P
She is ok. She isn't terrible but she isn't the greatest professor. It's a lecture so you can't expect too much. She can be pretty boring but somethings are a little interesting. I wouldn't go out of my way to have her but I wouldn't avoid her either...
Awful awful teacher. I stopped going to her lectures because i couldn't stand her snobbish condescending attitude toward others. She once said, "you can usually tell when something is amateur art because it isn't very good"... which really irks me. Comments like that made it hard for me to stand her at all. She's not easy, though i managed a B+.

I was surprised that we didn't learn about more artists especially architects, but it is just a very broad art appreciation course. She only covers a fraction of the artists that are in the book. I love classical and medieval art and she didn't cover those chapters! Take one of the art history survey courses if you want more info on artists.
This was a straightforward introductory class. Take some notes read the book. Easy A actually more work involved in the discussion sect than the lect.
She talks a lot and is very excited to teach this class, can be very annoying.
Her annoying voice made it hard to focus sometimes during class. Notes were basic and easy enough to follow it seemed. Tests were all over the place with subject matter and you never knew what needed to be studied and didn't. She gives off a condescending attitude towards the entire class in general. Don't take the class period if it's just gen ed.

The class is easy enough. If you attend class and read the textbook, its pretty much a guaranteed A. However, if you can't stand an annoying voice or a limited vocabulary, not a good choice.

Terrible teacher. She is very boring and the amount of work required for her class is ridiculous. She requires you to know a large amount of information you wont use or will use very little amounts of. I do not remember almost anything from that class.
Overall the class wasn't horrible. If you take notes on everything in class, and read the chapters, you should be fine for the exams. I made flashcards before the exams and that seemed to help a lot. She gets mad about people talking, which is understandable, but she needs to understand that it's a gen ed class.

She gets really into the lectures and seems like she knows what she's talking about. If you want a good grade definately read the chapters and make flashcards for the tests. I wouldn't recommend her, but I dont know what the other ART 101 professors are like
She is very into what she teaches, which can be REALLY annoying at times. If you listen to her talk, you can become very annoyed with her. The class itself is okay, takes notes on every detail discussed in lecture, but i never read the text book
Avoid this class! Do not buy the book either. She thinks all of her students are Art majors, and the tests resemble that. She is not worth the Gen. Ed. credit, take MUS 100 or CTH 101 (Theatre) instead.
She lists everything thats going to be on the exams on blackboard.The exams aren't bad.To the people complaining about doing bad on her exams, I can't imagine them doing much better in any of their other classes. This is pretty straightforward.This is college people.step it up a notch. Just because it's a gen-ed doesnt mean you don't have to study.

LIke other comments have indicated, her voice is kind of annoying. Luckily, my roomate took the class last year and gave me notes so I havent attended the last 6 lectures. Other than that, its an easy class if you study and know the terms and such. THe exams are straight forward and pretty easy.
Lectures were kind of dry, but mostly because there were 200+ people in there, so there wasn't any real room for interaction. I thought her voice was fine, don't know what the others below were complaining about. You do need to pay attention, though, the exams are pretty comprehensive. Overall I enjoyed it, though the discussion section was better.

This professor was very unclear and went off on rants the majority of the time. The first exam was the easiest. The rest have slide identifications, you must know time periods, and the specifics of those time periods. It didn't appear to be taught like a 100 level course, or a gen-ed.
Awful. She is terrible at giving lectures! The way she mispronounces and messes up with speaking is kind of funny sometimes, but mostly annoying. She talks about how hard you have to study all the time, but I didn't even buy the book and I got an A. Easy class but obnoxious professor.
She had a terribly annoying voice and her lectures were pretty boring. You can still go to lecture half the time, take down the terms she puts on slides and play games all class and not pay attention and get an A.
