She has a different way of teaching the class but it gets you very involved. I would definitely recommend this class to all who wants to take a Comp class at all. I would definitely take her class again.
Great teacher because it ins't the everyday lecture. Teaches in different ways, for the Honors class you get to go on field trips instead of coming to class some days. Form what I can tell the Honors is actually easier and one on one is better.
Stephanie is the BEST English professor I've had. She is funny, relatable and easy going. She does assign work & you do have to try for a good grade. If you're into comp& writing, then definitely take this class! If you hate it, I would keep looking. Papers are interesting and she is super helpful with revisions. I would take this again for sure.
GREAT TEACHER!! Honors comp 2 is easier than regular comp 2 so take it. Wouldn't take anyone other than her for comp 1 or 2
Honors comp 2 is a very fun and laid back class to take. It may seem like it is harder than the average Comp class, but it's really not. In Honors you get to go on field trips and you get to miss 2 classes the week of a trip. The work comes off as easier because it is a more of hands on class and you get to see the information itself.
Stephanie Youngblood is a great teacher, her lectures are interesting and she really cares about her students. She had us read a wide variety of fiction from a diverse set of authors. Her feedback on essays was detailed and clear, so I was able to improve my writing over the course of the semester. Definitely would take her class again.
Because it was an online class, there is a lot of writing to do. We have a discussion board that we have to participate in, a short essay, and reading material to do every week. Fast paced, and you should only take it if you can keep up! If you can keep up then you will do great in this class!
Dr. Youngblood makes Comp II fun. This was the first online class I have ever taken that I really truly interacted with my peers. You don't have to be good at writing, you just have to write. There is a lot of work, but it is split up into three units and is essentially the same for every unit. Do not take if you are not familiar with Blackboard.
Dr. Youngblood is one of the best teachers I've had. Not one class was lecture, it was all discussion and requires only that you are willing to participate. A lot of writing though, but i mean what do you expect? She's extremely helpful, engaging and gives excellent feedback and advice. Simply show up, give it your best effort, and you will pass.
This was my second online course at TCC. And Professor Youngblood is a great professor! She is very kind, and she responds to e-mails quickly. Also, she grades fairly and gives excellent feedback. My only complaint is that the workload was tough- it is comp 2 though. The projects were fascinating though and centered around each student's interests.
American Literature is the second course I've taken with Stephanie, and it is just as enjoyable as the first, which was Comp II. Stephanie is a great teacher and makes the class fun and comfortable for everyone. There is a lot of work, but it's doable! The classes are very discussion based as well and she makes it an open environment for talking.
I had her for Comp II and American Lit II. Her classes aren't easy, but they are manageable. Her Blackboard site is full of helpful handouts and links. She has also made a YouTube channel for her students (Comp). Go check out her various scarves! Also she's really easy to talk to, so if you have a question just ask. She responds quickly.
The assignments include 6 novels, 14 discussions, weekly responses, a presentation, and 3 essays. Be sure to research the books before signing up for Discussion and Presentation. If you are not religious then I would not sign up for The Grapes of Wrath or The Sparrow. If I could change one thing it would be to switch days of Discussion & Response.
An amazing Comp 2 professor! Relatable and easy going. You will have tons of work but its college you should expect that. Very clear instructions and if you are confused you can always communicate with her! Would definitely recommend.
Good teacher but a lot of homework. Overall learned a lot and I would call that a win!
She is really cool at the beginning of the semester, but as time passes, she becomes less and less clear and gets upset if you don't completely understand increasingly vague directions and criteria. She tends to talk AT you, but not WITH you.
I took the honors comp class and I learned so much, BUT if you plan on carrying a heavy load, don't add this class to it. There is a ton of homework and it can be time consuming. However, I do not regret taking this class. She is awesome and really knows what she's doing. Plus, she responds to emails fast. :D
Amazing teacher! Took her for both comp 1, and comp 2. About to take her literature class also. She tries very hard to make you want to be there, and make the class interesting. She's very clear in her lectures and will gladly help you if you need it.
First of all, I transferred to TCC from OU (not cause of grades though) and I consider myself to be pretty smart. I wasn't looking for anything too hard (just needed credits) and I heard that this was a blow-off class. I took it and it was absolutely terrible. NOT EASY. if you're looking for a blowoff or at least an easy, good course, this isn't it
This class was very difficult. If you do the work you will probably get a good grade but she works on a portfolio system with no clear grading criteria. I got an overall C on one portfolio after having only 2 C's and 6 B's on the rubric but it doesn't tell you how the overall grade is calculated.
Do not take this class if you have a Job, family, or other classes. She does not accept late assignments for any reason, you wind up doing doing volunteer work that has nothing to do with the class, and she is under the impression hers is the only class that matters.
This Professor rocks my socks, she makes you enjoy class because she knows how to make things interesting and hilarious. It is a lot of work, but the experience you get out of taking this class is priceless and unforgettable.
Gives great feedback, and is always willing to help you out if need be. A lot of work but well worth it in the end if you end up passing.
One of the best instructors I've ever had! Absolutely hilarious, speaks her mind and encourages her students to do the same. There is a lot of homework assignments, but they aren't super difficult, and most of them are only worth a point or two a piece. Her class over all is about developing your sources and ideas. Great experience.
Stephanie was the best English teacher I've ever had. Her online layout for class is easy to follow and she always includes clear directions, examples of what is expected, announcements, and even video postings. Participation is a must. She responds to emails within 1-2 days, which is great. By the end of the class, you'll have learned a lot!
I took Intro to Lit online w/ her. Each week we had to read a different genre & post on the discussion board two times a week. We also had a weekly reader response due. I liked how organized the class was. I felt like everyone was involved. Sometimes online classes are isolating, but this one isn't. This is the best online class I've had so far.
I took Intro to Lit online with Stephanie. The class was organized extremely well, and easy to navigate. The instructions are extremely clear, and she is very good about responding to questions. There is a writing assignment due every week that correlates with the reading assignments, and discussion posts twice a week.
Stephanie is great to work with. She wants her students to improve and an A is easily manageable if you do the work on time and revise your work based on feedback from your peers. I would definitely take her class again!
Stephanie is very funny and cool. Definitely take her class! Gives very detailed instructions, literary tells you how to write an essay sentence by sentence. Very helpful, will explain something til you understand it, responds to her email very fast! There is quite a work load but its not hard and it is college so expect that. Participation matters
Great teacher. uses a portfolio grading system that makes everything a lot less stressful. all you have to do is complete each assignment and know how to revise and you will ace this class. there are a lot of smaller assignments tho so be ready to work.
I highly recommend this professor. Out of all of the professor's I had, she is definitely on my top list. She goes by a portfolio grading system which definitely helps keep you focused on certain projects only. She is quick to respond to questions and she gives excellent feedback. Lots of work to do, but easy to pass if you just complete the work.
I absolutely enjoyed taking this class as well as getting to know Stephanie! She is an amazing professor, extremely organized and willing to help and understand. You definitely have to stay on your game, and do not get behind, but if you stay punctual with your work, you'll pass, and learn so much along the way!
Took the 8 week course online. Was very well organized and clear on grading criteria. There was something due on Wed, Fri and sun every week. Straight forward course. Teacher was very accessible despite it being an online course. Definitely not a fluff class but if you do the work and put some effort into it, you should make an A.
Shes an awesome instructor that takes the time to understand students and didnt just see us as her job but as her passion. Lots of homework but its really helps! Shes a wonderful instructor and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone !
She is a good professor overall. There is a lot of homework in which she grades kind of hard. She is good about emailing back fast but is not clear on her responses. You have to really work if you want to get an A.
I took her online Comp II class. It was my first class back in college after several years out of the game. I was nervous about this class, but I'm glad I took it with this professor. Yes, there is a lot of writing, be prepared for multiple assignments a week. But if you do the work, you will do good in the class.
I took the 8 week online Comp II course. I work full-time. While I lost a lot of sleep trying to make sure I made these assignments on-time, it can be done. You will not have much of a life outside of school and work, but it is possible to pass. I think if she sees you apply yourself and take the course seriously, you should do fine.
Professor Youngblood is a very tough, but great teacher! Do your homework on time and show up to class, and you will do ok. She is very personable, and knows her stuff.
Such a great teacher! Her class is based on a portfolio system, meaning that all submission is for participation points and all your work is put into a portfolio and graded all together at the end of the portfolio. Absolutely necessary to stay on top of your assignments and not get behind. Highly recommended!!!!!
Lots of peer review, which I found very helpful. Her class is completely manageable if you stay on top of everything (participation grades). We used two books; I bought one off Amazon and did those assignments first (about 4) and then returned it for my money back. She's a tough grader, but she's approachable if you need any help or have questions.
She was an excellent instructor for online English Comp 2. I recently had to drop English Comp 2 last semester with a different teacher. She tells you exactly how you need to complete your assignments step by step. Very manageable as long as you stay on top of due dates and lots of peer review.
Dr. Youngblood is very young but teaches like she has been doing this for twenty years. I still maintain contact sometimes but she is great. Lots of papers; three a week and a big research paper. She will correct anything on your papers. Make sure you actually make her corrections on final draft; she watches for this. Big on class participation.
Stephanie saved my soul.
Stephanie was a very good professor. She has a portfolio system which sounds hard but Isnt bad! She grades good and you are aloud 2 absences no matter what or your grade drops.
It was a somewhat difficult class.
Professor Youngblood's 8 week Online Composition II was one of my favorite TCC courses yet. The class is an easy 'A' as long as you participate and keep up with assignment submissions. Everything is mostly completion but there will be two portfolios that must be submitted @ end and will be graded on quality and projection of growth. Great class.
Stephanie is the best professor I have ever had. She makes the class enjoyable, as she is very funny and relatable. Her class isn't one that you will dread attending. In fact, you will probably look forward to it. There are no tests, but there is a lot of work. However, if you put effort into your work, you're almost guaranteed to get good grades.
Stephanie was best professor. She is so funny and makes learning fun. She cares about her students and knows what she is talking about. There is quite a bit of work, but she makes the process of writing actually enjoyable and understanding. As long as you put effort into your work and show up to class, you will be good. 10/10 recommend
Do not take this teacher!! I took her for Intro to Literature. She grades SO hard. I have busted my butt in this class, haven't missed 1 assignment or even been late on anything and she gives me 70% and 75% on all papers. She does NOT give A's. Super hard grader. Would not take her again. She doesn't give clear feedback so you can improve either!
I really, really enjoyed this class. Not only did I have so much fun in it but, I also learn so much about writing. I would definitely recommend taking her if you can. She's very smart and funny. One thing is that participation does matter very much .
I took Stephanie for the online 8 weeks course and I had an amazing experience. There is something due every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday so she keeps you busy but grading criteria is very clear. Sends out reminders often so you shouldnt forget about an assignment. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to get there comp credit over with!
Work is fine, she is very non understanding & believes he opinion and her problems are the only ones that matters.
I just finished the 8-week course of Composition II with this professor, she is so kind and understanding but she enjoys reading other's writing. I have become a better writer because of her. There are no tests just quizzes from a certain book which are easy points. I got a B because I didn't turn things in on time but she was great :)
Dr. Youngblood is a great teacher. Her class does require you to spend a lot of time doing homework, but the majority of the assignments are completion based. Just do the work and turn it in and you will be in good shape!
I would 100% say take Professor Youngblood! She does a portfolio style class and it makes it so much easier and not so overwhelming. Everything was online and I never once had to show up to a class. She is also willing to work with you if you let her know ahead of time.
This class has assignments every class, twice a week. Dr. Youngblood is a wonderful teacher! Put the work in, it is worth it. The class is amazing. Participation is mandatory, you get a completion grade for turning in each assignment.
Dr. Youngblood is AMAZING!! She actually cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She does assign a lot of homework and expect to write a ton of papers (!!!!), but most are completion until the final draft. She gives GREAT feedback, is so helpful, and is always available outside class. Attendance is mandatory. I wish I could take again.
Lots of small grades, be prepared for lots of peer review.
Took her for 8 weeks online. Her assignments are for a completion grade, but then you put them into a portfolio for her to grade on accuracy. There is something due every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The "textbook" we used was a free PDF and her open book/open note quizzes are based on the readings in it. But get ready for a lot of peer review!
I took her eight week course for the fall semester. While there were several assignments due every two days, they were not hard as long as you followed the instructions and kept up in class. She is very easy to talk to, gives great insight and is always willing to help. Probably one of my favorite college professors.
I took her 8 week class and highly recommend it. Work is mostly graded on participation. There is a lot of papers to do but they are very easy to get As on. It is almost impossible to not get an A in this class.
When I read the reviews on this site for Dr. Youngblood to choose which professor I wanted, they intimidated me but I love a challenge. After taking theclass, I realized that the people stated her class was difficult because of how much we write. I loved this class and how much we had to write. It made me successful in this class. Shes awesome.
I took this course online due to the pandemic but I think that Professor Youngblood would of provided a great in-person learning experience. Dont be discouraged about the amount of peer review, just do it and get the easy participation points. Do not fall behind though, or else you will not be able to successfully catch up.
Professor Youngblood's class no doubt made me a better writer. She rewards critical thinking, and challenges her students to get comfortable with the writing process. I definitely will use the tools I gained in her class throughout my college career. She's definitely a talker, but I always looked forward to stories about her plants.
I took the 16-week online course. Other than the 2 portfolios, all assignments are only participation points. There are a TON of assignments, but it's super easy to get an A as long as you turn everything in. Only gives feedback on really big essays, but good thorough feedback. If you're ok with doing a lot of work, I would recommend this class.
The class was easy overall. Just participate and youll pass. Although, the professor is rude and not understanding. There were things going on and I told her but she never responded and cared. Instead, she made you feel dumb. So much assignments! Its crazy how much she makes you work!
Hers was probably the most work heavy class I've ever taken. I like her, but I hate writing so this class was torture. Just don' t let yourself get behind and you'll be fine.
I took her eight week comp II course, so the work load was much more than if I would've taken a sixteen week course. The course is separated into two sections where you have about a six page paper due at the each of them. I wouldn't say this class is hard, but there are a lot of assignments. I do recommend her, but be prepared to write quite a bit.
If you take this class be prepared to be confused about her vague instructions for an assignment. if you ask clarification then you get a vague answer. All of the assignments appear to push an agenda. She grades by a portfolio system. I learned the hard way. SAVE EVERYTHING. even though you submitted the docs previously- it will make you do it aga.
I had a hard time with this class because we spend so much time on the same book I had already worked through forever in comp 1. It was a lot of reading and writing every week, a lot of work but not impossible.
Great professor, easy class. Just keep your head down and trust the process. Lots to write but that seems to be the point. Install Word and Grammerly and get to typing and this will be an easy A.
Stephanie was a great teacher. She assigns a lot of work Don't get behind or you will regret it. She uses portfolio grading system She is understanding of things and will talk to you. Always responds to emails and explains things. You do have to proof read others papers which was uncomfortable but overall a great class and I would take her again.
Dr. Youngblood is a great professor. Her class is not a blowoff but the work is easy. Do the work and you will be fine.
I recommend taking Youngblood, as long as you devote time and effort you will do well.
She gives so much homework it's insane. She usually gives around 6 assignments a week. Don't take her if you're taking other hard classes.
Professor Youngblood is a great professor. She assigns a lot of work to help you learn how to write correctly. If you pay attention in class and use her assignment sheets, then you should pass with an A. She also encourages you to use the writing center during her class. I would recommend her class. She answers her emails in the allotted time.
very good and easy grader, but very political assignments.
She is truly the best and taught me actually how to improve my write. Best Teacher EVER
Really good and reasonable teacher, she may give out alot of homework but they are not time consuming if you know what is required.
Stephanie is a great Comp2 professor if you like research & writing. It's quite a lot of work, but it's rewarding in the end. I'm a full-time student and still managed a high A. She only cares that you write well, and she'll help you in doing so. There's an interview project too which was pretty fun.
Doctor Youngblood has to be the easiest professor that I've ever had, she was very laid back in class and even let me make up an assignment that was worth over %30 of my grade.
I LOVE Dr. Youngblood. Her blackboard is organized so well. Clear instructions. Easy to get in touch with. She's really funny and laid back, but at the same time is firm and gives good feedback. She's the best professor I've ever had. Take her comp 2 you will LOVE it.
This professor clearly loves her profession and the subject she teaches...but dang I'm not going for my doctorate in English!!! Ridiculous the levels this class goes to as a "beginning" English class. Not a good choice if you are a working adult actually contributing to society and taking classes online (!)
I would not recommend this teacher if you have work or a life outside of school. Very unforgiving and is slow at responding to emails and grading work. There is an absurd amount of reading that is required. Very hard grader so unless you really love English and a lot of work, your best bet is to find another class.
The assignments are very complicated and spread out over multiple areas. Each question has multiple sub-questions within them and I asked others to see if her assignments seem complicated and they agreed. Overall, would not recommend taking this class.
There is a lot to read, not a lot to learn. Most of her assignments are not beneficial for learning and instructions are vague.
Professor Youngblood was a great teacher. She is very organized and has her requirements laid out clearly. She is also quick to respond to questions but has a ton of information online to help students. There is a lot of writing and reading but if you stay active and participate, you will pass. Definitely recommend taking her course.
Although I got a good grade in this course, she was very unorganized unlike some of these reviews say. She overloads and assignments with instructions and hidden due dates and assignments within the assignment. She responds to questions after a couple days. She doesn't really explain things and there are many assignments due every three days
She is a stickler for small grading details and will bring your grade down for small things that may be missed. She also does not allow discussions to be edited so good luck if you format something wrong, when I emailed her about this she said it was to keep kids from cheating, and that is the type of teacher she is.
I had a great experience in my online ENGL 1113 & 1213 courses with Professor Youngblood. Although the workload was somewhat heavy, the assignments were pretty interesting & thought-provoking. If you put in the effort and use your time management well, you can succeed in this class.
If you are working full time and going to school, I wouldn't enroll in Professor Youngblood's class. There is an assignment due about every three days, which can get hard especially if you have other classes. The class is very disorganized as well; it is very easy to miss a due date or an assignment. At least two essays due a week.
