Go captain calculus!
This guy is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He'll teach the subject after you turn in the homework. Then he'll contradict what the book has wrote. If any other teacher is teaching the class take the other teacher.

He is very knowledgable. He will work with students if they show an interest in the course and attend class on a regular basis.
amazing guy, very helpful
Teaching okay, goes rather fast. But if you ever need an incomplete due to hardship, forget it. He'll fail you before giving you an incomplete.
Great teacher. He will go over the conceptual stuff more than most teachers, which some people find a little hard. But the man's got a solid passion for teaching and you'll rarely find anyone that's as dedicated to seeing students do well as he is.
I would never want to enroll in any calculus course unless he was teaching it.
He is incredibly passionate and will spend great amounts of time to assist you but his tests are very hard and 100% of your grade.
“..reason it’s called College Algebra..take the course before attending college..” (he’s also the College Algebra Director). “..throw away your book..I’m teaching my way..” Regarding tutors: “..if you really need that crutch.. Honor student need adult “friend” take Brady; else take a teacher
Was very helpful and accessible. You can stop by his office anytime or call him at home when you need help. He made a difficult class less difficult and was a great professor. If you take Math 555 take it with Brady.
Not very clear. The test's are what make up the grade, and the test's are very hard and not consistent with the book's way of teaching the material or consistent w/ previous tests. Not highly recommended.
The grade in the class is based solely on your test scores. What a dumb idea! One of the worst teacher I've ever had!!!
If you're good in math, you'll do fine having him as a teacher. But, if you can't learn by sometimes having to teach yourself, don't take his class. You get 2 pts extra credit per week for having perfect attendance, which can ultimately increase your grade by 10%. His tests sometimes come from end of the chapter reviews. He's random & tells stories

Down to earth. Great guy to get help from
Good guy who likes what he is doing and knows Math. BUT good luck following him he is all over the place. stops and tells stories about Africa and everything else. Can not read the board writes to soft and skips around on board as well. No homework counted towds anything so do well on the tests or you are doomed.
Awesome teacher. Takes occasional breaks from the "same ol" to tell stories about traveling when he was younger, and now. Tests are tough but he is willing to help you on your own time.
It doesn't take long in Dr. Brady's class to know that he speaks and breathes mathematics. He is very experienced and friendly, and patient with those who don't quite get it. To a point. He intends to show his students the path to a greater understanding, and if you can keep up, it's a great class.
This guy is awsome! You will not fall asleep in his class ever! Though you may drift off when he does proofs cause those are boring anyway, but other than that this guy is random, tells jokes, and is one of the best teachers ever. A COLLEGE EXPERIENCE!
One of the best teacher in math departments. His exams are reasonable, you should do fine if you studies and do your homework. He also tell jokes and make his class very interesting, willing to help you after class also.
Dr. Brady hilarious. He also knows his calculus. He holds nighttime study sessions before tests and stays up all hours of the night with his honors classes. I learned the material, but his tests are ridiculous. Intense amounts of studying and using office hours barely got me a B. HW's not mandatory. 2 points ec for each week of perfect attendance.
I had Brady for Honors 242 and now 243. He's a handful if you're not prepared for how his class is structured. It offers the greatest leniency but the most intense schedule toward the end of the semester. He's always available if you need him.
I had Dr. Brady for honors calc 3. The class was hard, but he is extremely helpful and funny. He was willing to stay for hours until I understood a concept. If you're willing to do the work to study well then it's worth it. I have learned a lot, but it was a lot of work.
Dr. Brady is the best math teacher I have every had. His lectures can be long, but he breaks it up with a lot of stories. I have never had a professor so willing to help a student outside of class. If your in honors, TAKE TESTS! Without him, I wouldn't have made it through Calc 1,2, and 3. Strongly recommend him for honors.
I had Calculus in high school, but after the first couple weeks with Dr. Brady, I was glad I stayed in Calc I. Attendance is not required, but it helps with tests. Near the end of the semester, he makes himself available as long as there are students near his office. I have stayed until 330 in the morning. Great professor; be ready for a challenge.
Sure Brady is a nice guy, but he has no idea how to teach effectively. He doesn't teach what's on the tests and doesn't plan the class schedule out ahead of time. We spent the first half of the semester on Chapters 1& 2 and had to rush through everything else. Be prepared to teach yourself from the book. And good luck not procrastinating!
A VERY NICE professor. he is the first one that actually willing to help student study, and wanting us to pass. I call him at 5 am to ask about question on my hw, and he is happy to help. I suggest you to take this dude for all your cal class.
Think twice before taking Honors Calculus. You WILL procrastinate, and you WILL fail tests as you continue throughout the semester. Dr. Brady is willing to help you outside of class, but in class, watch out for any notes he may have handed out as they are usually incomprehensible by non-math majors.
Terrible. Dr. Brady is extremely smart, but has no idea how to teach at calc I level. Do not recommend! Did not learn a thing!!
The best math teacher I've had! His class is tough, but it's worth the extra work. He is the most helpful professor you'll find, regularly staying up late in the night to help students. Sometimes the lessons go too deep, but he always keeps it interesting with a good story. But if you take his class, do NOT procrastinate, it'll kill your grade.
This guy is tough. Probably most difficult calc teacher in department. There's always a line out his door with students waiting to ask questions. Only upside is his stories. There are some pretty funny ones. If you take this course go prepared.
Very nice guy, extremely funny aswell. His smug-ness towards the textbook author is quite humorous as well. He kind of let the class get behind and the later chapters were harder to understand because of that. His explanations can be pretty hard to understand at times. But i recommend him for sure
Great Professor!!! If you don't understand something, all you need to do is ask him outside of class. When he starts using his incomprehensible, multi-dimensional math terms, simply like a terrified deer caught in the headlights; if you follow this simple instruction, he will almost instantly begin to dumb it WAY DOWN just for you.
Great teacher. Really knows his stuff and VERY willing to help (gives home phone number, stayed until 2 in the morning). Taken all the way to calc III with him and have not regretted it at all. Tough class, but if you want to learn math and not just how to solve problems, take him.
First test given in calc 1 and 2/3 of the class received a D or below. Brady hardly uses the book and tests on barely related material with no homework reinforcement. Be prepared to learn the material on your own or to stand in line ouside his office with the masses of others who are completely lost.
Had him for Calculus 3. Nice guy and had a sense of humor, but had no idea how to teach. Always kept us in class 5-10 minutes late too. Never did a single problem in class but expected us to do difficult ones on the tests. Don't take his class unless you can apply poorly-explained theories to extremely hard problems.
Awesome guy. Supper funny and tons of interesting life experiences and stories. He teaches tough material that takes a lot of time to learn, but if you take the time will give you a much more solid basis for future calc classes. Willing to help you in almost any circumstance. Best teacher you can have. With some work you will get an A. Take him
I attended his Calculus 3 Honors class. It's advanced. But he's extremely helpful, helping us with issues we have. During the finals week stays late into the night helping us out. Do not slack off. And do not PROCRASTINATE.
Brady is an incredibly kind and funny teacher, and he is willing to make an extra effort to see his students pass. I disagree with the idea that his class is harder, but I do think it requires much more effort.I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who didn't want to put out the extra time.
Experienced, engaging, and always willing to help. This course is tough but he knows what he is talking about and will do almost anything inside/outside of class to help the student out. Fantastic teacher and person. Quite comical too.
Brady was actually helpful to me. Most of the stuffs I learnt from him helped me allot in Differential Equations. To me, he is very exceptional in everything, friendly, kind and understanding not forgetting his lovingness. I'll miss him and his lectures. He made me enjoy my calculus 3 honours class and recognize the use of a textbook.
Most of the course was done in the last month. Brady spent the first month teaching us rings, fields, binary operations etc. He puts out a ton of effort to teaching students everything they could ever want to know about math and then some. Good instructor; his class is best for those who have an independent streak and want to teach themselves math.
Dr. Brady is a great teacher. He keeps your attention.
Dr. Brady is an amazing teacher. THEY PROCRASTINATE! Even I, of all people procrastinates on his tests. :( He is willing to help you no matter what. Believe me. He offers you chances to retake tests, but it is always best to pass it the first time. Don't ever procrastinate! Take tests early and seek help immediately. Brady is there!
Honors Calc 3, pretty tough overall. He definitely takes a lot of time to go over everything in depth, plus a lot more. His own notes were very theory oriented, probably at the graduate level. Tests were hard, but 80% got you an A. Would recommend if you really love Math.
he allows test retakes, which is good, dosent require homework, which is also good
Dr. Brady really knows what he is talking about, there's a reason he is the head of the math department here at WSU. However, it sometimes seems that he forgets that his students have not all been researching mathetmatics for +50 years like he has which can make the class very difficult. He also likes epsilon-delta proofs and theory.. Also TANGENTS
Dr. Brady's classes aren't easy. But he's very helpful and he really wants you to learn the material. He's not trying to fail you. He's not trying to get by and collect his paycheck and be done with the class. He will LITERALLY stay on campus till 1 AM and help students with math. He really wants you to understand and learn the subject.
Dr. Brady is very passionate about math. I took him for Calc II as my first math course at WSU. I was a little overwhelmed with the work load to begin with, but he told the class that he puts more on webassign than he would expect you do. Do enough for you to understand and get at least a 70 on his tests, and he will like you.
Dr. Brady is brilliant. If you have questions you've got to ask him, he won't know unless you speak up. He is dedicated to his students and will stay very late on campus to provide help and test retakes. His lectures can be long but if he notices he's losing the crowd he'll draw you back in with a joke or a story from his super interesting life!
Dr. Brady is a brilliant man, no doubt about it. He understands his content and is passionate about it. Although, sometimes he just has trouble conveying it to students. Although he may have trouble, he makes up for it in his effort to help students. There have been many nights where I've stayed until midnight or later with him helping me!
Dr. Brady is a great professor! I took him for Honors Calculus 1, 2, & 3. Also Honors Diff-Eq. He always wants his students to understand the material and pass the class. He will stay up very late with students just so they can either take more tests or ask him questions. I would recommend Dr. Brady to anyone needing to take Calculus or Diff-Eq!
Dr. Brady is a really nice person and will work with you. The problem is that you must essentially learn all the material in class by yourself. He tends to procrastinate on tests until the very end of the semester and it is hard to do well when you have 4 tests in 2 weeks.
Very passionate about math but not the best when managing time. Spent half the semester on chapter 1 and 2. Be ready to teach yourself from the book. Took 6 tests in the last week bc we were so behind. Go over each chapter and make sure to know how to do most type of problems.
If you want easy math classes, Dr. Brady's might now be for you. If you're wanting to learn and better yourself as a student and person, take Dr. Brady's classes. He's the kind of guy I go and see now and I don't even have class with him. He's the kind of guy that will give you his phone number if you need help with a problem at 1am. 10/10recommend
I am an alum. I had Dr. Brady for Calc 1, Calc 2 and Honors Calc 3 (he let me in the class even though my grades didnt reflect the honor) back in the late 1980s. I have forgotten the names of 95% of the teachers I had. But I will never forget Stephen Brady. He is a gem. WSU is lucky to have him.
Has decades of experience, so he knows what he is talking about.
This is one of the better instructors I have had so far at WSU. His tests are difficult, and he does expect you to learn most of the material from the book. He will help you during office hours, but don't just rely on the lectures. The only bad point about him is how we spent the first month or two on chapters 1&2, then rushed in the end.
He puts a lot of effort into making sure his students understand math. He really stresses knowledge over getting an A. Because of COVID, the tests were take home, open anything but no calculator. He allows retakes on every test. You can get 2 ec points for each week you come to class. Homework isn't for a grade, but doing it really helps you learn.
Highly recommended! Dr. Brady is amazing! He really cares about the students and is passionate about math. Cares more about students' grades than they do, but emphasizes knowledge and understanding over grades. His lectures are really interesting, and he gives helpful feedback on tests! He gives generous partial credit for work and offers retakes.
Probably my favorite professor ever. Dr. Brady is hilarious and has a wealth of great personal stories. He constantly encouraged us to focus on learning as much as we could, and he explains everything thoroughly. A gifted teacher and a joy to learn from! His class is very challenging, but if you're willing to work hard, it's worth it.
Calc II is a very hard class, but Dr. Brady gives 110% in trying to make sure everyone understands the concepts. He really pushes students to explore math - to not just rely on a calculator for everything. Each homework assignment was 2 extra credit points. The homework does take a long time to complete though. I wish I could have him for Calc III.
Dr. Brady is brilliant and truly cares about helping students learn the material. Lectures can be difficult to understand. If you don't pass the test the first time, go to office hours before taking the retake. Very difficult class, but only requires 83% for an A (80% for A-). The class goes slowly at first, but we had 4 tests in the last 2 weeks.
I took Brady for Calc I, II, and III. Favorite professor at WSU - tells great stories, and has a deep knowledge of math. Content is super hard, and classes get rushed at the end of the semester, so be ready to work! He offers retakes for tests if you fail them, grading is very fair. Amazing office hours, interesting lectures - will blow your mind!
Very good at teaching pure math, but class can be hectic. Be prepared to cover almost all of the material in the second half of the semester.
Super brilliant man! He teaches so students will learn the material. Very lenient in grading and allows retakes on tests. Actively interested in student success and will meet anytime outside of class to help. Super heavy content and lectures are difficult to understand because his method is abstract and goes right to the heart of the theory.
Dr. Brady is clearly knowledgeable about math. However, he hesitates to gives tests which causes the class to fall behind. His lectures and exams are very heavily theory based. So, if you struggle with purely learning theory, his class will be a struggle. However, he does offer a retake for exams that score below an 80%.
I had Dr. Brady for Calc I-III and he has got to be the most interesting person I have had the chance to meet. He teaches based more on theory than just equations, which can be confusing at times. His tests are hard, but he is a fair grader and offers retakes. He always has funny stories to tell the class. He's my favorite professor I have had!
He was pretty decent but his teaching style is definitely not for everyone. His class is pretty difficult but if you study and pay attention during lectures it isn't too bad. He offers retakes on tests and an 80/100 is considered a passing grade. He has very funny stories and if you get to know him he is very nice. If you study you will learn lots
We took the first exam after 6 weeks, and the average was a 42. If you get an 83 then he bumps it up to 100, but if you get a 42 then your score is 42. You have a retake on tests. I had to drop the class, because the lectures are hard to follow, and the tests are super hard. He helps students after class though, and he said he cares about our grade
Brady wastes a lot of lecture/class time. The tests are extremely tough, and people who have taken Calculus 1 and higher also don't understand his notes, lectures, and tests. When he teaches his lectures are unorganized and very unclear. He teaches us his own version of Calculus stating that every other calculus teacher teaches it incorrectly
I had Dr. Brady for HCalc III and had a really tough time. His lectures aren't really organized and he mainly relies on his notes as a guide. His notes take a lot of time to read and understand; the best strategy I found to do so was annotation. The #1 most important thing to do in this class is to start reading the textbook on day 1
He is an amazing mathematician. He tells great stories and tries to make us laugh. That being said, the expectation is that you do 2 hours of math outside of class every day. He is always available to help students. He gives a retake for every test, but as an honors class we had a lot of scores in the 40s or lower for first attempts.
Very knowledgeable professor regarding subject matter. Tests can be retaken. Very hard to follow lectures. More of an artist than a teacher. Always contradicts the textbook. Gives excessive reading material that is hard to interpret. Expected 3-4 hours a day of extra studying. Wish he made topics easier to understand. Frustrating class overall.
He really is a great guy but I couldn't learn with his teaching style. You will fail the first test but he offers retakes and is super flexible he wants you to learn and do good.
Dr Brady is a heartwarming and interesting fella I met! His jokes and honestly is what makes him so memorable! Anyway, his lectures/notes can be difficult to comprehend. I advise you to do the homework ahead of time so you can understand the concepts. His tests can be hard, but I advise you to study a lot. His exam retakes help me thru this class.
Dr. Brady is a clear and effective instructor. He explains complex calculus concepts in a way that's easy to understand and always encourages student engagement. His teaching style is structured, approachable, and supportive, which made learning calculus much more manageable and enjoyable.
If you have read any positive reviews, they are either written by him or lying to you. His notes consist of dense packets of complex mathematics that require a degree in mathematics to read. While it is true that he offers retakes, the original test and the retakes are only similar in name of the chapter. His tests are often back-to-back each week.
Brady is a character for sure, and he really wants people to learn. He does very few problems in class leaving you to do almost all the work outside of class, and he gives MANY handouts that are very difficult to read. He does give lots of oppertunities to improve your grade throughout the semester but he wont ever tell you what your grade is
Definitely teaches way differently in comparison to other professors. Hesitates to give tests, mainly focused on logic the first two months of the semester. I had taken Calc I at a community college before this class and I felt that I didn't know the content from a class that I already passed.
I may have gotten an A in the class but it took a lot of pain. Dr. Brady started off way too slow, then had to rush and have 2 or 3 (of 4) tests in about 3 weeks (for different topics). He gives you lots of notes (almost 200 pages when I took) but they're very dense & difficult to understand compared to the text.
