Use the notecards, they work! Coccia is an awesome professor and you will not be bored, but you have to study hard. And if you goof off he'll call you on it, so don't.

Coccia is the man. He's not only funny in class, but he's knowledgable about the stuff he's talking about. You do have to read the book (or at least skim it), and if you do good on all the easy quizzes, you'll pass. Take this guy, you won't be bored.

Fun class, BUT... he doesnt teach much, you have to be your own teacher, he once called his teaching "A Dog and Pony Show". Take this class if u want to laugh, but not learn a damn thing. Tests are hard b/c he doesnt lecture about the stuff its on. P.S. Hi Mr. Coccia I bet ur reading this you loser!

Don't be fooled by all these negative reviews...I took Mr. Coccia for Psych 1 & 2 and learned a lot...if you're interested in the subject matter, and keep up with the reading, you will be fine. Yea he's opinionated but more than anything he's a very funny guy and he'll keep you interested in class

Coccia's cool...the text book for the class is a very good one...if you read it and study the 'hi-lighted' words, then the short Quiz' are extemelly easy....Read the TEXT and the mult choice tests are cake....lectures are not bad, he spends alot of time talking about folk music...YAWN

Developmental Psych. is harder than his Psych. II class (a lot of reading). However, he's still just as fair and helpful as ever, not to mention fun, as in all of his other classes. A great teacher all around. Would recommend to anyone.

A completely and only describable as a great professor. He is filled with great knowledge about his field, makes his class interesting, and knows how this area of study applies to daily life. He is the ideal professor to have in college, despite sleep deprivation to get to his class, I look forward to it every tuesday. Thank you.

I really enjoy this class. Although I find the quizes rather difficult. They are given straight from the text and told about the week before.The quiz has to do with things that u had to read and were not taught yet. You are taught the material from the quiz after you take the quiz.Quizes aside, Coccia is one of the best teachers at OCCC.

I have Coccia for two classes this semester, and he is by far the greatest! I hope I can find more classes to take with him. He is very energetic and passionate about everything he talks about. Quizzes are easy and quick. Getting and "A" in his class is easily obtainable.

I have had him twice now. There are a few things to know that will get you through the class. He gives weekly quizzes verbatim from the text. Quizzes are hard at first but get easier once you know what he wants. He tells you EXACTLY what is on the test, make flash cards you'll get a 80 on them (I never read a chapter). Had him for Psych II I think I need therapy after that class. Know's his stuff I guess. Take your own notes nothing is written on the board. Read the book and if you don't understand it read it again. Will meet with you but really doesn't help. Has a sense of humor which keeps you awake in class. Gives quizes every wk and extra assigments do them.

Overall he is a pretty decent teacher. He covers the topics that need to be covered. His class is not for the faint of heart, however. He talks about sex and makes immature and offensive jokes during every class period. Just be forewarned.

I took a hybrid class with him, and as someone else also mentioned don't expect to take in a lot from this class. It's easy, and his lectures are etertaining enough... but he goes on and on about trivial things, and we never even touched the last two chapters that we were suppose to. Easy grade, but I would have liked to learn more...

steve is reall a great professor. everyone's right when they say the only reason you would fail his class is because of yourself. don't blame the professor for your short comings. take responsibility, he does when he's wrong. would definitely take him for another psych class.

Ok, Coccia is a great Professor. Is it true that he's a little preachy? Yeah but he just has strong beliefs and good for him! He may have been teaching for 30 somewhat years but he's still kicking. Who ever posted a degrading comment is just miss attributing their probable bad grade to Coccia and not the fact that they didn't study.

I don't know what everyone is saying about how he doesn't teach psychology! WHAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT??? He does teach from the book and brings outside sources. He tries everything possible to help sure you succeed.He gives tons of extra credit! He truly wants you all to get an A!! If you don't then YOUR really stupid! VERY easy course!

Why do some people consider him a horrible instructor? Just because someone doesn't teach/or lecture in the manner in which you like, does not make them a bad instructor. I've had him and his teaching style was perfect for the way I absorb information. There are constructive ways to disagree with the lecture/discussion. Lets act like adults here.

If you fail his class. than you are not ready for college at all. There is no reason for anyone to fail his class. I have nothing negative to say about Prof. Coccia! The lectures are so entertaining and interesting; an hour and fifteen minutes goes by in a flash. If you study, you'll do fine! Prof. Coccia is just a good guy overall. And he's HILARIOUS. BTW turn your phone off before class -- It's not worth 5 points off your next exam if it goes off!

If you love multiple choice tests, hes your man. He is funny and has many important lessons to teach his students(don't hit your kids, don't text and drive) and is pretty funny. READ the textbook. Quizzes almost every week but they only help you to get a better grade.

Good teacher, he's always there to help if needed. He's a funny guy and his lectures are fairly enjoyable. Although he does tend to tell a lot of stories, so the textbook is your best friend. You need to teach yourself most of the information.

Interesting class however, after a while his lectures get repetitive and boring. He's definitely a fair grader and loves to talk and make everyone laugh. Quizes almost every class (make sure you read the pages assigned, not just the definitions) Tests are all multiple choice but get tricky.

Great teacher. He is passionate, funny, interesting, fair, and really one of the best professors I've had. Sure, you have to read the text, but it is college, you should be reading the text. Quizzes every week help boost your grade. I learned a lot from this class. I highly recommend taking a class with him.

He's a great professor and I thoroughly enjoyed his class. He's very relatable, approachable, and hilarious. He likes to get everyone engaged and is a no nonsense kinda guy. You'll have a good time with him, and you'll learn a lot! He tells a lot of interesting stories too, all, in a way, related to the class, but fun to hear nonetheless.

Mr. Coccia is a great professor! I learned so much in his class that I have already applied to life and that I know I will use in the future! I took his class in the summer, online, and I was overwhelmed at first because of how accelerated it is but as long as you write everything down it is easy to stay on top of everything.

Wouldn't take again

I took professor Coccia online for developmental psych. Thought it would be an easy A but it is not. There is a paper due each week and he grades them harshly. I found myself putting more time in for this class than I did for my more important classes. Also, you have to make sure you stay on top of what is due because it gets a little hectic.

Took his during summer session, and be forewarned, it is a lot of work, especially when crammed into 6 weeks. Very fair grader and gave lots of opportunities for extra credit. If you do the work and follow his exact guidelines, you will get an A. Quizzes and tests are straight from the textbook.

This teacher's lectures are not helpful and mostly about his life. Not one thing in his lectures are in the tests. Most of his material is from the 70's. The majority of the grade is from exams, and all the material is in the book. Exam is set up to confuse you and makes it harder to get a good grade. Nice guy, just not my favorite teacher.

I was nervous taking his class bc I saw all of the bad reviews, but honestly, professor Coccia's class was one of the best classes that I have taken. He gives a lot of work, but he communicates well with the class & makes it clear when things are due & what is expected. I HIGHLY recommend you take his class. I liked this course. The textbook was a lot and you had to read it since the tests are all based on it. Theyre timed which was pretty difficult and the essays were super easy and he graded everything on time and fairly. Hes give you feedback on the papers which helped a lot.

I enjoyed what he taught in Developmental Psychology. Try to finish all the papers and follow the instructions, he gets irritated if you forget to respond to something on the prompt of a paper. I loved that he was actually involved with the course and emailed the class often. I would definitely recommend his class.

Very clear, concise and to the point in everything he does. Makes the entire class easy to understand and his discussion boards cover topics that are interesting, not just the generic textbook learning ideals. Definitely a professor I'd be happy to have again.

Be prepared to do weekly discussion boards- 2 response posts, weekly quizzes, exams & papers. Discussion boards were really interesting. Pay attention to his instructions when completing assignments because he will take points off. You have to be organized and stay on top of deadlines because he will NOT allow you to take a make-up. .

Stephen Coccia is an ok teacher; however, if you are taking an async class, then run. He is passive-aggressive in his reviews and unforgiving. I took his class because everyone says how nice he is. I have yet to experience that. Get ready for absurd amounts of homework and no communication with async.
