Kinda full of himself and his teaching awards. Way too excited about Econ. Hands out helpful lecture handouts, but you have to go to class to fill in blanks. Group quizes every other week and homework due almost every class. Helpful at office hours, but only likes the smart people in class.
He loves econ and you can tell in the way he talks in class. Provides lots of EC chances which you may need because there is so much HW and quizes and if you miss one all the EC goes to those things. Tests are not too bad but there are a lot of notes to review. Take this class, not too bad!!!
Good teacher, lectures can be long and sometimes boring, but he really helps you understand. HW and tests are pretty easy points, not hard to get an A if you work.
Tests are very tricky whereas the notes are straightforward, lots of quizzes and hw alomst every class. DO NOT TAKE unless you want to spend hours memorizing his notes. Lectures arent too bad though.
One of the most arrogant and annoying teachers I have ever had. He treats the class as though it is at a high school level, and berrates & belittles the students. I would NOT recommend taking this class.
Really nice guy and wants all students to have a love for econ! Does a really good job teaching and provides a lecture handout packet with all the notes. Has random jokes and stories to relate! Notes are really easy and straightforward, but tests are a bit tricky. Be prepared to study as tests are 75% of grade and are really tricky and confusing.
Great prof. has a love for teh subject that can convert those who hate econ. He knows his stuff and the tests are straightforward if you go to class and pay attention to his lectures. HOmework is due often, but not graded for correctness. Take this prof if you can. I am taking him for an UD in the spring.
Good teacher, puts all the concepts into easy terms. The lecture hand out packet is very helpful- go to class and copy the notes from the powerpoint. Kind of a lot of homework, but not unbearable. Overall- fairly easy class and not too boring for the subject matter.
Good course. Prof. was pretty good. He is pretty complete. I would take him if I were you.
Good Class; Conroy is very helpful; tests are very tricky...require a lot of studying; lots of work but you will know econ really well when the semester is over
Dr. Conroy's class is tough, but I think that's because he really cares whether or not you learn. In the end, I was pleased with what I took away from this difficult class. (Even my final grade.)
One of the best professors I've had at USD. He is legitimately interested in helping you learn the material. Incorporates a lot of current news to put contextualize what you are learning. Even if you don't have a keen interest in Economics, this class will leave you with a good understanding and appreciation of the subject.
Good teacher. Make sure you study for the midterms.
He's an AWESOME teacher! Love him! You do have to work in his class though. He has a lecture handout packet which the whole class is based around. Make sure you study that along with the quizzes he gives you. Attending class is a must because he goes over a lot more in depth about the material rather than just filling in the blanks in the packet .
Awesome teacher! he has printed out power points of every word he speaks in class, but i recommend going to class to fill in the notes and get on his good side. he gets pissed if you don't attend. this class was super easy, if you can GET THIS TEACHER
Tough subject. Teacher is interested that you learn. Also he's receptive to comments about teaching style and calendar, and makes adjustments. Very smart and knowledgeable about subject matter and, when asked, Dr. Conroy will go back to the basics with you if you don't understand. Tells some funny jokes too. Overall very good.
Good Prof. Has a lecture packet that replaces the book. All u have to do is take the practice tests and show up for class easy A.
As an upperclassman coming into this class I found this professor to be very sarcastic and extremeely picky. Prepare to lose points if you don't word test answers EXACTLY as he words them. Tests are hard, and he admits to trying to prevent anyone from getting 100%. Group quizzes and essays are easy, and will get you at least a B if halfway try.
Great teacher! Workload was reasonable, studying was easy! I sold back my Econ book the first week of class and still got an A. Everything comes from his lectures. Totally worth taking!
Great teacher, personable, tells personal stories and helps with papers through email.
I really liked Conroy.Class is slow and kind of stale but he explains it well and the notes are set up in a way to help you study easily.Problem sets are decently easy and you get full credit if you try, Group quizes help your grade. Participation and lots of X-tra opporunities help. TESTS ARE TRICKY THOUGH.
conroy is one of the best professors that i've had at USD. he is very funny, helpful, and wants his students to do well. his lecture notes help you get through the problem sets and are good study guides for his quizzes. econ is a boring subject, but Conroy makes it somewhat interesting.
One of the best professors at USD. Great sense of humor, wants students to do well, and is VERY APPROACHABLE which can't be said for a lot of professors. Most organized professor EVER...if u study the notes he gives you there is no way you could possibly do bad on his tests!! lots of extra credit offers...great professor!!!
holy hell this guy picks favorite like no other! but if you are one of the chosen ones, it will be a v. enjoyable class. he's a really nice guy and is quite helpful.
Interesting class, great teacher. Conroy really enjoys economics, and this is very evident in his lectures. He ties the lecture material in with current events with his numerous articles. The class consists mainly of 3 tests and a couple essays; they're not too difficult.
Great teacher with a big heart. He loves to help people and does so with a great sense of humor. Overall, take this guy his class isn't the easiest but he makes it seem that way. Make sure you go to class, participate and you'll be fine. Funny guy
Very hepful when needed. Although I wasn't interested in the subject, the professor is there to help out ith any questions and tries to make everything clear. Can learn a lot if interested in the material.
here is your chili pepper, conroy! great teacher, really interested in student learning material. definitely recommend! not easy, but you will get a good grade if you study and attend class!
Sooooooooooooo hot
most genuine prof i have had so far. although he is really picky about papers, he tells you exaclty what he wants, just follow it. will go out of his way to help
Awesome Prof, he makes econ interesting, which most prof's can't do. He tells you what he wants, and if you do it your golden. Expects alot from his students, but its not extra-busy work.

most organized professor i've ever had. kind of obsessive about it if you ask me! but he's an awesome teacher and truly is passionate about economics and applying things to the real world. the class is completely do-able if u actually do your work and the way he wants it. 2 papers, 12 problem sets (piece of cake), 2 midterms, and a final. nice guy
Professor Conroy is the best teacher I have ever had at USD. His stories are funny, especially the ones not about Economies. He offers extra-credit opportunities and prepares you really well for each exam. Takes time out of his own life to review before each test. Major props to Conroy.
Like everyone else said, hes a great teacher, one of the best at USD. really easy if you goto class, he goes out of his way to make sure your prepared, and does a pretty good job of making economics interesting. I highly recoment taking him for any class he teaches

GREAT professor. Class was a rough start (Spring 06) but the first upper division he had ever taught. but ended up being a great and interesting class. Prof. Conroy has more heart than almost any professor at USD and truly cares that his students succeed in class. Always was willing to help out.
He loves teaching therefore he is an awesome teacher. Test are easy, he has all the homework answers, quiz answers and past test online and the test are just like the ones in the past year. Has lecture notes for you so all you have to do is listen in class. Great guy, definetly take him. He also is very helpful in office hours!DONT BUY THE BOOK
he is good
DO NOT TAKE. repeat. DO NOT TAKE! horrid horrid teacher. very nice man ill grant him that yet you will not learn ONE thing. i came in having previously taken econ and he has confused me! he likes to talk about random things and wastes alot of time. thus we are behind and then he tries to catch up by going really fast and confusing everyone even mor
Take this class! Conroy is the best econ teacher! Very nice and not too hard...easy work and tests are not bad (straight from the notes)! TAKE CONROY!!!
Very nice teacher and will explain everything if he's not clear. tests come straight from the notes and i never opened the book :) sometimes he can go too fast but if you study the notes you will do good. he also can be confusing but study study study the notes and you will be set!
Very Organized Professor as well as extremely helpful. Notes are very easy to take and he offers lots of extra credit. Homework is graded on completion and test are not to bad as long as one studies the lecture notes. Book is rarley used. Great Professor- he may be hard to understand at times just look over notes and it will be clear. A+ prof.
This was my favorite class. Conroy really knew what he was talking about and made it easy to understand. If you want an A go to class and study the lecture packet. The midterm and final weren't bad and he is always available for help if you dont understand. If you have to take this class, take it with Conroy...he's the best!
Good notes. Lectures. Participation Required. Good Review for Tests/ Previous Exams. Would take again. Only thing is that sometimes he thinks the world revolves around his class. Hi Conroy, I know you read this!
I've always loved econ, and still do, but I did not like Conroy. He explained everythng extremely well, and if you study, you will do well on the tests, but he doesn't care about anyone but himself. Take him if you want to learn econ, but you'll be on your own once your outside of the classroom.
Great Professor, second time I took him, he was voted the top professor in the Business School for a reason. Great for help outside of class.
Conroy is a very entertaining teacher. He is very organized and communicates clearly, which is nice. Econ is boring in general, but he made the class interesting. I definitly recommend taking this teacher. He is really nice too.
TAKE THIS CLASS!! Conroy is a great guy, and makes this class about as straightforward is possible. Class consists of powerpoint lectures and filling in the blanks in the course's lecture notes from the bookstore (which will be used 10x more than the book). Tests are not impossible if you study the notes. Final is from midterms, almost verbatim
I love himmm!! Take this class for sure. He's really nice and helpful. You typically only have one assignment a week that doesn't take long but is very helpful. You learn a lot without having to do hours of work. Plus, he's funny! Hah. It's enjoyable...
Amazing! I feel like a learned so much. Professor Conroy went over just about everything--i feel he's more comprehensive as opposed to targeted when teaching. He gives lots of opportunities for extra credit and has great resources for test prep. He's so helpful during office hours and is really excited about teaching and his students. Take him!
Conroy is great! Class is mostly lecture from his own PowerPoints. Very clear and tests are fair. Really nice guy who does his best to make class interesting. Not much homework. If you have a friend in the class, buy one book and share it, only used a few times for homework. Hey Conroy, I know you look at these :)
Awesome professor and person. His enthusiasm for the material definitely helps the learning of it. Tests weren't too bad, just follow his advice on studying for them and you're good to go. Writing assignments were also decent, not too difficult or too easy.
There's a reason why there's only about 4 or 5 bad/average ratings out of about 60 for Conroy. He's an amazing teacher who not only enjoys his subject but his students as well. If you are willing to pay attention and contribute and are willing to have an open-mind about enjoying his class then he'll love you and you'll in turn enjoy the class more
he is an awesome guy. he communicates the material very well with powerpoint fill in the blank notes. he keeps the class interesting. he is a stickler for detail, so pay attention, and you'll get an a. definitely take him
really nerdy not my type of teacher i guess...goes through things pretty quickly expects you to have a lot of background knowledge prior to his class it seems...an insanely easy grader just do your work and you'll get over a 90 on everything maybe not tests tho
GREAT Professor! Professor Conroy goes out of his way to help you succeed in his class!! I wish he thought more ECON courses... You must take him!
I had acceptable grade in his class but yet, I'd recommend avoiding taking a class with him. He covered a lot of topics that he could't cover them all 100% and he moves too fast to cover even more subjects! the work we had was too much 3 exams, 3 projects, and 3 quizes!! there are better econ professors at USD
GREAT PROFESSOR. I learned so much from him. He is one of my favorite teachers at USD. We never use the book. Everything comes from the powerpoint notes. He is good at explaining topics. The tests can be a little confusing but if you do the practice test he puts online you will be fine. Take him for any econ class you can.
Quizzes are group quizzes. Problem sets are graded on effort. He grades pretty easily. The notes is fill in the blank powerpoint slides. He tries to keep things interesting, but I thought the class was pretty boring. I didn't really learn anything.
Professor Conroy is a really good teacher. I took Econ of Latin America with him, and that topic is so ridiculously boring, but some how it made it mildly interesting. Expects a lot of work out of students (2 8 page essays, 2 midterms), but he is a pretty easy grader, and the class isn't that hard
Dr Conroy is an excellent professor, if you pay attention and do the work the class is very easy. He grades completely from his lectures and he even gives you a lecture handout that you just have to fill in a few blanks. His class was very fun and informative. His office hours are very helpful as well.
Professor Conroy is a great professor. I love his lectures; they're always fun! if you pay close attention in class, you don't even need to read a book. Though, we had a couple of writing assignments, but they're not hard either. So, I would definitely recommend him!!!!
Professor Conroy is a pretty good all-around teacher. He makes Macroeconomics seem easier, and does a great job connecting with his students. Midterms are challenging, Quizzes aren't bad and usually done in groups. He gives extra credit every so often, and is available in OH and very helpful. 2 Thumbs Up.
Conroy is a great teacher. He is passionate about the subject and will come to class with current events applicable to the topic of the day. He is very helpful in office hours. Quizes are not too difficult because they are in group. Be prepared for the midterms as they are relatively difficult and they weigh substantially on your grade.Take HIM!
Conroy is a great professor that presents up to date economic issues throughout the course. Quizzes are done in groups and are easy to points to get. Tests are challenging but he offers tons of office hours and review sessions to prepare you for the exams. Attendance is optional. Excellent class overall.
Conroy is the most passionate and knowledgeable professor that I have had so far at USD. He really wants you to succeed, and gives you every opportunity to do so. There is a lot of weight on Exams, but it is definitely possible to get an A. Very interesting class. You will actually learn in this class!
The BEST professor! One of my first and favorite classes at USD. He is so dedicated to his students and really wants you to learn and do well. Harder than most Econ 101 processors, but so worth it in the long run. Really prepares you for more advanced business classes. Very easy to talk to and keeps class interesting with funny stories. Definitely recommend!
Not sure why this professor has such high reviews. Overall I found his class average/difficult. I got an A- in the class....his exams are very difficult (I got a B+ on both), there's one paper which is easy, attendance/participation, and the final which wasn't too bad. Offers A LOT of extra credit which is really really nice.
COnroy was a great Professor! He is very intimidating though and can seem condescending at times. Don't ask irrelevant questions because he will single you out. test are difficult and if you do not study you won't pass. Final was not half as bad as exams!
He's very enthusiastic and really wants you to enjoy his class. He tries to be fair and he's easy to approach (although he does like to joke). Don't buy the book - it's such a waste and no one buys it back!
Conroy is very intimidating, but that is only because he is extremely smart and knows his stuff. Make sure to read his notes that he gives you AND the book. Don't freak out if you do bad on the first midterm. Just study study study. Go to office hours, he appreciates hard workers. You learn so much with Conroy as a teacher, he is greatly respected
Great class! Weekly problem sets, 1 quiz, 2 midterms, 2 papers, &a final. Nothing too hard, definitely study for tests but he gives u fill in the blank notes that is basically the test. Tests can be tricky in that u have to know the EXACT wording but other than that not too bad. Office hours were really helpful &the class was enjoyable. Take him!
Great, but difficult class. Tests are challenging. You must know the notes inside and out and most importantly be able to apply the knowledge. The Problem Sets are helpful and they are pass or fail. The final is cumulative but about 50% is verbatim from old tests. Overall a high quality teacher and class. Take him!
Conroy was my favorite professor. Exams were very similar to practice exams. Has review sessions before every exam. Problem sets due once a week (they don't take too long). Gives a lecture packet to take notes. Really knows his stuff. Overall a good teacher
Extremely helpful, and very willing to help you understand the material. I loved the course and would definitely take another class from him. His class is not hard to do well in, but the tests definitely require several hours of studying to get a high grade.
Dr. Conroy's class was extremely interesting for me. He makes it easy by supplying a notes handout packet and he is always willing to help clarify any questions you have both in office hours and in class. Sometimes he gets slightly behind and you have to teach yourself for the problem sets, but overall Dr. Conroy was fantastic.
Dr. Conroy is a great guy. He is very friendly, but sometimes his friendliness gets in the way of teaching. His class is all lecture, but he would get off track and talk about other things instead of econ. I learned a lot in his class, but I felt like I wouldn't always understand what I was learning because he wasn't very clear with the material.
Dr. Conroy is clearly interested in what he teaches and is very knowledgeable. His assignments are manageable (weekly problem sets, 3 tests, 2 papers, 2 novels) Reading the textbook isn't required, but for me it really helped reinforce what was taught in class. His tests are tough, but they are similar to the practice ones he provides.
Professor Conroy is "meh". While his class was enjoyable at times, I found that he bounced all over the place. He is a stickler on participation and gives students random Bs at the end for their participation which pulls everyone's grades down. He's also relatively unhelpful in office hours. Nice guy, but the class was average.
Conroy is awesome. I found him hilarious and a great lecturer. The note packets save your life and if you study from those for the two midterms you will do just fine!
Conroy's class was perfect for an incoming freshman. He teaches the course material very well, but tends to get slightly off topic on economic related tangents. He is a great professor to know on campus because of all his connections in the business school. If you are looking to major in any aspect of business, Dr. Conroy is a huge asset to have.
You have to do 2 midterms and 1 cumulative final. But the cumulative part of the final is the direct questions from the previous midterms so it is not that bad. Do study hard for the 1st midterm because it is the easiest and it can save your grade! He is a passionate professor and if you go visit him in office hours, he is super nice! Take him!!!
Conroy was a very knowledgable professor who was very engaging during lecture. If you study a lot for the first and second midterms, the final exam will be a lot easier and it'll help your grade.
Dr. C is a great professor and is passionate about what he's teaching. The notes handout packet is essential, but I found it helpful to read the textbook as well especially when doing homework problems from the book. If you're struggling, go in for office hours because he's super helpful! Dr. C definitely made Economics an interesting topic for me.
Conroy truly cares about his students and their understanding of economics. It is important to go to class because he bases his exams on the lecture notes, not on the textbook. He understands that economics is not everyone's strong suit and offers opportunities to earn extra credit. Exams are relatively straightforward and the workload manageable.
Professor Conroy is an amazing professor who cares greatly about his students. He is incredibly knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. His tests are quite difficult, and very lecture- heavy. His class requires a ton of effort but you'll learn a ton.
He's an easy teacher. You will most likely pass the class, but he was very lame. He graded unusually hard on the writing assignments and the midterms matter way too much for your final grade. Mediocre at best is what I would rate him. Take him to pass, but you won't take any knowledge with you.
Dude is whack. Period. You won't like him.
Great professor. About 80% of your grade is made up between the 2 midterms and final. Writing assignments are crazy difficult but count for a very small portion of your grade. Overall a great professor who is passionate about econ and ensuring that students learn.
If you're at all passionate about business and aren't just trying to fulfill a requirement, take Conroy. really cool guy, is passionate about the subject, and cares about his students. Helps you apply Marco do your daily life and future. Honestly helpful class, just look at the old tests to study and you'll do good.
Dr. Conroy is a great professor! He is very passionate about teaching. You need to study hard to do good on his midterm and finals. His final review session is very helpful, you have to attend if you want to do good.
Do not take his class. Very old-school way of teaching and is not available for office hours or to help you succeed. Hes a nice man with lots of knowledge but has a hard time communicating it to his students.
Professor Conroy was an amazing professor that taught a hard class. If you don't try in his class, you will struggle. His lectures are super interactive so make sure you are staying on top of the material. There were a lot of papers but he grades them SUPER easily. The midterms were difficult but the final was easy.
Take Dr. Conroy's class if you want a solid foundation in business and economics. Just don't be lazy and you will do fine, Dr. Conroy is always there for you and finds ways to help the class out. Don't stress too hard about the quizzes, and go into office hours with any questions. Study the midterms for the final.
Dr Conroys Econ 101 was my first class at USD. I remember having a phone call with my parents telling them how much I enjoyed it and how much I was going to enjoy the next 4 years, just based off that one class. He can move too fast at times, but you can always catch up with him during office hours. I will absolutely be taking Econ 102 with him.
Amazing professor who cares about his students. Makes subjects very interesting by connecting them to current events, this helps make topics very easy to understand. He is funny and very understanding. All he requires is that you focus and give him your attention, participate even if you get things wrong, and be truthful, and do the homework.
Very nice guy, good teacher. he can teach the material a little fast at times but overall terrific teacher who truly cares for his students.
Professor Conroy was a great professor for ECON 101. He truly cares for his students more than any professor I have encountered. He is very accessible during office hours and wants his students to exceed. Sometimes he goes a little fast, but it is easy to catch up or clarify. Three exams total and some group quizzes. Take him if you can.
Professor Conroy grew on me throughout the semester. He is really passionate about Economics and I definitely learned a lot from him. Compared to other Economic professors I've had in the past, Professor Conroy is the absolute best. His expectations are clear and he tells you exactly what to study and know for exams, making it easy to succeed.
He is one of the best professors I met in the school life. The work is not hard, but he'll answer everything he could, even if it's not about the lecture. Only need to understand the lecture note and problem sets, and if you have any questions, ask him as soon as possible. I enjoyed his lecture every class, as well as during the office hour.
I had Conroy last year and he is an amazing teacher. Definitely one of the harder microecon teachers but he is one of the few who cares a lot about his students. Go to his office hours when you can, he's extremely knowledgable about things even outside of the course he's teaching.
Micro with Conroy was great. His lecture packets were exactly what was on the test/quiz. I always wrote down a few notes on the side tangents he would go on since they were sometimes on the test. He genuinely cares and wants you to learn as much as you can. I almost switched from engineering to econ because of this class.
I loved Professor Conroy, however, you must study a lot to pass the class considering it is 69% of your grade. Other than that the other grades are based on effort. 2 midterms and some essays was the only downside.
Love Professor Conroy. Amazing professor who really cares for his students. Goes a little fast at times, but will always slow down and re-explain if you ask. Really great guy outside of class, and easily accessible. Will take him again if I can.
I have never had a professor who was so unsupportive. I can admit I struggled understanding the concepts of his course but when I emailed or asked for help I was always left with snarky and degrading replies. If Dr. Conroy is not fond of you he will for sure let you know of it.
Conroy is an awesome professor. His lectures are very engaging and hilarious. I learned so much in his class, a great introduction to econ. He is very nice and super easy to go see in office hours. The midterms and final are pretty hard so study a lot as they are majority of your grade.
Very nice and funny guy and made the classes interesting even when they ran decently long. He KNOWS his stuff and is very knowledgable about the topic as well so any questions no matter how intense he could answer. Only knock I have is he called on me every single class for 5 weeks straight but oh well. I recommend taking him if you put in the work
HE IS THE BEST. Professor Conroy is very old school but he does such a great job. Notes are all lecture slides that he has you print out and fill in. He is super smart and knows a ton about Econ. He is accessible outside of class and genuinely cares about all of his students. If you try you certainly can get an A. Strongly recommend him.
Professor Conroy is hands down my favorite professor at USD. So helpful, super knowledgable about economics. His class seriously made me consider switching to an Econ major. As long as you show up to class, pay attention, and make an effort to participate and get to know him at office hours you'll be set!
This dude is so funny. In order to pass the class you need to be present, everything is taught during lectures and he does not post them. His office hours are great to understand the material and he goes over problem sets and midterm study guides. The class is a lot about theory, and Prof Conroy makes the class very engaging.
I can't understate how great Prof Conroy is! His class wasn't unnecessarily hard, but I still learned a lot of useful material. He connects the course to world events so students are able to apply their knowledge. I took this course years ago and still came back to leave a review. That should tell you how great it was! Strong impact on my education
Professor Conroy's ECON101 class is a fun and engaging experience. Though the material can be challenging, his lectures make it digestible. Attending class and using resources like unstuck ai for study prep are key to success. Overall, a great intro to economics.
Conroy is such a nice guy. Lectures are SO engaging. The sweetest human and always makes things relatable. Class is definitely really hard, you have to put lots of work in to be successful. But as someone who struggled on tests, I still ended with a B because of other assignments. Don't take for an easy class, but conroy is great. GO TO OFFICE HOUR
Dr. Conroy is an alright professor. He sometimes moves too quickly and has a hard time understanding that students won't immediately just 'get it.' He can be intimidating at times because he is highly knowledgeable in economics. He's funny and genuinely wants you to succeed. Go to office hours and review the old midterms to do your best.
His lectures are really funny. The class is good, but still a difficult topic, so attendance is key. His office hours are really helpful. But, his tests are difficult. Participation is also key for the class. This is a great introduction for Economics class.
Professor Conroy was okay. He made lectures very engaging but he also had very strong opinions that felt unnecessary. For tests, he emphasized the need to read the textbook and look over practice midterms and past exams. He grades very harshly though on midterms and finals, with 50% of my class not passing the first midterm.
Very kind man. Super engaging lectures. Go to office hours if you want to succeed. Material is definitely tough. You will fail the quizzes, but you can drop 2/3 of them as long as you turn in all hw. Tests are just like practice tests, so master the practice test and you will do good.
I LOVE Conroy! Fun guy, cares and knows a lot about what he's teaching. Accessible during office hours. Quizzes don't matter much since he drops the lowest two, but study well for the exams, they matter a lot more. I had him for micro and macro and I'm sad I won't have him again. Love him but also his class isn't easy, be expected to put in work.
