Very nit picky grader of papers. But overall a good guy, with a mullet
He's more Canadian Tuxedo Man... Web Course is cool

Gives some busy work assignments, however, it is related to classroom activities. We even got to watch Southpark and analyze it one day in class. He's laid back and wers converse and faded blue jean jackets!!
Laid Back guy. Grades easy in comp 2. Highly recomend him.
i got an a in the class and english isnt my strong subject..easy and tries to make it interesting
Pretty easy A if you do the work (he likes you support your homework answers with good detail and examples). Also, answer in class and he'll like you.
Pretty easy, not too much work involved. Just follow the instructions for the paper and an A is no problem.
I took the mix mode class. Great teacher, but a lot of work for the web based class. Very helpful and a fair grader. Just do the work and you will be fine.
Good guy. If you are sensitive to criticism you might not want to take his class becasue he hands it out left and right. Every now and then, people became upset at his way of correcting there mistakes.
This is the worst teacher I have ever had! I love English, and he made me hate it. He is not helpful, and doesnt explain things very well. There is a lot of work, and he grades hard. BE CAREFUL!

I HATE THIS CLASS.I love English and he's made me hate it!
He is a real jerk with attendance, and offers pointless busywork which he grades rather rough. He also has these random little outbreaks of madness, and he is very hot and cold to his students. Avoid him at all costs!
he's an alright guy. critical, but none the less simple.
dude is straight up fun guy...made me laugh at least once a day, we even watched the simpson's in class. unclear at times, and is hug critic with your work, but you can benefit from everything he says, i cant imagine a better teacher to choose.
The busywork is a pain in the arse...
this guy is the worst! he curses out his students and blows up for the littlest things. the busy work is endless, never have a day w/o hmwk, very unclear about what he wants from his students so ALWAYS check the assignments online
horrible, horrible!! don't do it!!
Do Not Take his class he is a horrible teacher
i thought he was an excellent teacher - VERY EASY grader...tells you exactly what he expects out of you...not hard assignments even though there is at least one due a week
I've always been good at English... so I did really well on the papers... but there is TOO MUCH BUSY WORK. I got 1 zero on the HW and that killed my grade. Also, his quizzes on the book are too detailed. DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER!
Just make sure you do your homework and you will get an A. If you do your work, you will be okay. There is a lot of busy work, but it's usually easy and pertains to the paper we are writing. He is very straightforward, no BS in the class.
hmm...each paper is 15% so you've gotta do well. MAAAAAD Busy work online!! I've witnessed him being a ****o and seen him be really cool and funny as well. Not a good choice if you dont want busy work. Plus class time was pretty much pointless.
This class was no problem. There were hw assignments for each day, but they only took 5 minutes to do. He drops lowest quiz and hw grades, so he's not that unfair. The essays were pretty easy and the peer reviews made it better. He is tempermental, though
I thought he was an excellent teacher...He tells you exactly what he wants and when he wants it...If you do the assignments you'll get a good grade and learn a lot.
This class blowed! So did the prof. So much busy work i felt like i was in middle school. This guy did a lot of drugs and he hates anyone who has a point of view other than his own hippie ones. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!
Tons of busy work! Grades fairly, but often takes off points and doesnt explain why. Quizes are super detailed and sometimes impossible. Do your HW EVERY day and you should have no problem getting a decent grade.
Pretty easy, busy work is good b/c it helps your grade. Got A's on everything. Just do the homework, papers and partisopate and easy A.
awesome teacher. very easy and makes english somewhat interesting and fun. the assignments are not that hard. homework almost every night but he grades very easy. got all A's!
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! I am a very good english student and he ruined english for me. He has no idea what's going on and is very rude. Treats his class as if he had elementry students. I will be talking to the school about him. DON'T TAKE HIM!
An easy A as long as you do all of the work...there is something due every class but it usually isnt very time consuming
Easy teacher as long as you turn in homework. Really nice, but kind of wierd. Make sure u bring your book to class because he might kick you out. But, other then that I would deffinatly take him again.
My high school english teachers were tougher graders. My lowest essay grade was a 96...then again I'm a pretty good writer. No quizes or tests only essays and daily homework. He's pretty straight foward so if you do what he wants you'll be fine. He is kind of a hippie, but pretty funny.

Good teacher; gives lots of homework but the class isn't too tough--I'd recommend this professor anytime.
I think that Prof. Ethridge was great. He is by no means an easy grader on essays, but he is fair. DO read the material he assigns. DO bring your book to class. DO complete your homework. DO participate in dicussions. I learned a lot of new things. I would recommend this class to others.
Mr. Ethridge is awesome! I'd definitely say to try and get him as a teacher for enc 1101. He does give a lot of homework, but its really easy and always helps out your grade. He grades real easy as long as you follow his recommendations!!
Big hippy. He can be surprisingly funny, but he doesn't seem to be all there sometimes. Decent grader and assignments are pretty easy along with paper topics that are fairly interesting. Class discussion however, was not, and he takes attendance daily.
This teacher is a jerk. Do not take his class. He should not even be paid as a real teacher. His grading doesn't reflect the work, and his organization is pathetic. He can't even make up his own assignments most of the time. A 3 page paper usually requires about 10 other pages of garbage with it.
He knows his stuff, that's for sure. However, much of his feedback was descriptive, not prescriptive. He didn't offer many suggestions for improvement. Just, "edit this" but he won't tell you how. The readings were good, but his assignments were tedious. Not my favorite class.
He's a pretty good professer. Class attendence is taken every class. So if you want to skip, think twice. To get an A, do the homework online (20%), do the peer reviews (10%), and just do the papers. I'm an ok writer but i'm leaving the class with an A.
Good professor, lots of small homework activites that help your grade, 4 essays and grades fairly, just show up to class and do the work and you'll get an A.
This is one of the best english teachers i've ever had. Allow he does give alot of busy work, it is there to help your grade. I have recieved nothing less then a 92% on my essays. If you dont need to be told step by step how to write an essay then take ETHRIDGE!!
Ethridge is the most confusing professor Ive ever had, Im a talented writer, but 4 some reason this man seems to speak an alien language. Lots of busy work, & when you ask 4 help hes sarcastic and talks down 2 you. If you love english, steer clear of Ethridge.. he'll put an end 2 that very quickly.
(I took this course reduced time so part was on the web) Ethridge is a fun guy, kind of a hippy, atleast his hair anyway. He doesnt make you read a lot but there are several stupid little busy work assignments. I like that he does peer review and group activities for each paper, in which there are four. I got an A even though I missed 1 assignment.
Ethridge was awesome. I loved the way his class was set up. Although he was sometimes confusing in his way of explaining things... Homework was easy, papers weren't too bad and he was very chill about everything. I'd reccommend this class to anyone.
Awesome teacher! Easy grading and some busy assignments. I'm a pretty big slacker but i got an A in his class. Do your four core papers, listen to what he has to say, and take it seriously. Not at all a difficult class, very laid back and chill. Just make sure you do things on time and turn everything in!
Not bad. He tries to get you thinking at least.....
Assigns a ton of busy work (atleast 3 assignments per week) and gives four core essays which each account for 15% of your grade. In class, he is EXTREMELY boring and is actually pretty rude when you try to talk to him. I have a decent grade in his class right now (B+) but I really had to work hard to get it. Only take this class if you have to.
Not bad at all. His grading system isn't bad. Keeps you interested somewhat. I'm not the biggest english fan so once a week is great for me. Does give you work, but you gotta do it 50% reduced. Take him! Although one word of warning, cant really figure out his grading system.
awesome teacher! Easiest class ive ever taken. Nothing lower than a 94 on any paper, and i took about an hour to write them all. Reduced time rocked cuz i barely had to see the guy. Left the class with a 96% average. He's totally chill, and in class you just hang out and listen to him speak. TAKE HIM FOR ENGLISH!!
Fairly easy class if you stay on his good side. Do not show up late. I did once and he actually cursed me out in front of the entire class. Not only that but it seemed like he held a grudge against me while grading all my papers for the remainder of the term and the next semester.
PLEASE DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. this guy is the worst professor and he goes out of his way to disrespect his students. He is extremely unpersonable and unapproachable and tries to make fools of students in frnt of the whole class on a regular basis. I listened to the mediocre reviews and took his class but PLEASE dont take this class DONT TAKE THIS
AWFUL teacher! Does not know what he's talking about, I didnt learn anything in this class. Grades VERY unfairly and gives an unsurmountable amount of busy work. DO NOT take him!!! My AP english teacher would beat him up if she knew what he was teaching his students. Pure crap!
This teacher sucks.Don't take this class for comp its a bad idea. His grading system sucks and if you miss a class you'll usually get two zeros don't listen to good reviews don't take him
Mr. Ethridge is a very good professor if you are an organized person who does not need their hand to be held constantly. His expectations and assignments are stright up. He was very quick in answering emails and has an interesting sense of humor. Never got below a 93 on a paper. Although there is some busy work it only helps your grade in the end.
class was very easy...just do the homework its on webct and make sure you do all the peer reviews for the essays and try to participate a little. if you are absent you usually will get 1 or 2 zeros but just make sure ur not absent on a day that hes doing peer reviews or something important and then you wont get the zeros. he is moody.
This guy is not at all helpful. He acts like he could be doing something better than teaching, but after you read his writing, it's obvious he be better off flipping burgers. Most of the class is on the internet, where his directions might as well be in Mandarin, because nobody understands what to do. He never warns of upcoming assingments.
He's unhelpful and generally uninterested in teaching his students. He treats them like second-rate, worthless little kids, and is unwilling to explain, telling students not to talk to him again until they "read the course guide" even if the question is unrelated to the course guide. Don't take his class if you have any self-respect.
Must go to class and dont forget to do your homework because itll bite you later on.
Mr. Ethridge can be moody, but he's overall a nice guy. He isn't extremely helpful, so if you're not strong in english I wouldn't recommend him. He gives a lot of online work, but it is pretty easy and boosts your grade a lot. Always go to class because he takes attendance.
He really seemed as if he didn't want to be there. The class is really easy, but there is a lot of crap work. The work isn't really helpful if your intent is to learn, but there are enough assignments that actually doing them will earn you at least a B. He doesn't seem to like being asked questions...I'm not sure why he's a teacher.
He knows what he's talking about, but he uses examples and class assignments that are completely irrelevant to anything you're discussing. He doesn't like being bothered and he's extremely moody. Not to mention he has NO problem pointing out your mistakes or his annoyance with you in front of the whole class.
I retook the course with him and I had a blast. He was fun, made the class interesting, and was always looking for a new way to captivate us in class. I highly recommend him.
This was my second time taking Ethridge, and I am just as pleased as I was the first time. It's a reduced-time class so to succeed you must stay on top of the assignments and plan accordingly (this means weekend assignments). He is a pretty nice person but always seems to struggle getting the class to participate. Dont be lazy & you will get an A.
This class is a joke. Ethridge himself is a moody and whinny man. The homework is just as pointless as his use of class time. The core papers must be submitted to turnitin.com or you lose ten points on the paper. He grades easily enough though. If you do the homework, cores and attend the mandatory class you will pass, but it won't be fun.
great teacher, i definitely learned a lot. if you put effort in your papers, you will get A's. there's a lot of 'busywork' homework due almost every class, but it seriously helps your grade.
He is a very nice guy. The class is really easy and mostly boring. He lets you out early on most days. Be very descriptive in his essays. There is homework everyday but it is easy stuff that will help your grade a lot.
he is an awesome teacher. the homework is helpful and if you explain and give detail you will get an A pay attention and you will do very well on your essays.the way he teaches keeps you interseted and is very helpful
he is not very nice personally and kind of a pompous sarcastic jerk, but nonetheless very intelligent and helpful. i learned a lot. pay attention in class and participate. he grades pretty easy but be descriptive and apply what he teaches in class to your essays. its an easy A as long as you do the work.
This professor is an idiot. All he does is whine about stuff and is very un-personable. This is a professor that you should only take if you like to waste time in class and get nothing out of it. STEER CLEAR!!!!
World's "most stupider" teacher! I have never taken a class at a university or even in high school that I could say that I learned nothing at all. The main is most definitely an old school acid head. Forgets everything that he says and never remembers to tell you the things you need to know. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! LEARN SOMETHING!
Good class. I took him for mixed mode. go to class and just do what he says. He grades very easy. As long as you do the work you'll do fine. For the most part, hes a pretty cool "post hippie" and a pretty chill guy.
I loved this class and this professor. I think people don't understand him so they are quick to judge. He is a nice guy and he's really random and funny. I would recommend him to anyone with a good sense of humor. He's sarcastic but he knows how to use it appropriately. I had a great time! Just follow his deadlines and rules and you will be set.
teacher really confusing. assignments are boring and really easy. class makes no sense. teacher doesnt really tell you what you need to do or how to do anything. he needs to stick to teaching eng. classes instead of writing classes
Sometimes hes funny but hes quite frankly rude!!
Not the best professor to take composition with, but if you do have to take it with him, make sure you write well.
this class is a joke. i took the one that involved web ct as well as class time and it was so easy. the only problem was remembering to do the assignments online, but they are short and simple. He was obnoxious but its just his personality. He grades essays super easy.
I took him for both 1101 & 1102 RST and can i tell you that it was so easy. he grades essays a little hard but i am a really bad writer so that may be why. he has an obnoxious personality but dealing with his personality was worth the grade. and he sometimes shows episodes of wonder years and south park. i completely suggest taking this class
Ethridge was extremely rude but also extremely easy. As long as you do the work and dont show up late to his class you will be fine. Most of the time did the essays the morning of and still got an a in the class. A and B are both very achievable.
Take this class you're good at writing. It will be cake. I took the web-mediated course which was half class-time/half online. The online assignments were easy. If you're a good writer, it should be an easy A as he shouldn't find many things wrong with your papers.
BORING TEACHER ALL WORK ONLINE easy class
very easy....sometimes i thought i was going to do horrible on a paper and I would get an A
I took his mixed mode class and loved it. If you're good at remembering to turn things in online on time thats half the class. Really easy discussion and question assignments weekly, a few quizzes online, and 4 papers that he baby steps you through. Not a hard grader. If you don't like going to English you only go to his class once a week!Great!
I took his completely online summer class. It was a lot of work, tons of writing, but I learned a lot. I'm a math kind of person and I hate writing but I still got everything done. I got an A in the class! He didn't grade unfairly and he was very clear as to where I missed points! I'd take him again and I recommend him to others.
4 essays and a couple of homeworks out of the book. Ethridge makes class interesting but he NEVER updates grades. Literally. Keep track yourself and you'll be fine. I definitely recommend him.
Easiest grader in the history of professors. Weekly online homework assignments and participation assignments make up about 40% of your grade. 4 essays. Easy grader. I wrote papers hours before they were due and got high grades, made it out with an A-. Take his class mixed mode, you won't regret it.
I took the mix mode class, you only had class once a week and were allowed to miss 3 times. 4 core papers, about 10 things of book work and quizzes, discussion posts and peer reviews. Easy grader, easy topics to write about, and easy assignments. Always ended class early. Take him if you just want to pass English 2 and have it be easy.
Boring but generally easy professor if you follow the simple directions. Easy grader. Take mixed mode. Textbook only required if you want to pass the online quizzes. Busy work is not bad. Take if you want an easy good grade for ENC. Everyone did well on papers.
This class is super easy. You write 4 essays, ranging from 3-5 pages dblspc, with about 2 wks to finish the final draft. In class lectures focus on developing arguments, such as making claims that are congruent with evidence and facts provided v. making arguments out of the blue based on opinion or "gut instinct" logos, ethos, pathos, etc.
Easy class and the professor is super nice. You need the book if you want to pass the quizzes.
Very goofy/nutty professor. Easy grader, grades essays hard. Prepare yourself for a firing squad when it comes to presenting your work and idea to him.
Took him for Comp 1. There was homework every class (5 questions based off of 15-20pgs of readings from the book). 1 essay on "Rhetorical Analysis", 1 on your "Personal Writing Style", 1 on "Discourse Communities" and a final reflection paper. He's a pretty easy grader when it comes to homework and the essays. Not very clear in instructions though.
Easy A. Homework, which is really easy, due every class. No quizzes. Attendance mandatory. Book is NOT needed. Fair grader. For the essays, just actually give a damn and write something coherent and relevant to your topic and you will get an A.
If you hate english and want an easy A, I highly recommend taking this class (mixed mode version, though)! He is an easy grader, and all assignments are a piece of cake, as long as you turn them in on time. Compared to all my friends' english classes, mine was a walk through the park!
Want an easy A take this class. He gives homework assignments every class out of the textbook which are usually 5 questions nothing tough. As long as you go to every class, do the homework you're guaranteed to pass. Textbook is mandatory by the way
Took online over summer. He can sometimes be a little confusing, but is always open to help people. If you put forth some type of effort, you'll pass. Get the textbook or share with someone because some homework assignments are from there, but that's the only reason you'll use it. 4 major papers. The most being 4-7 pages. PARTICIPATION MATTERS.
I took this course for Summer B and it was awful. The wording in every assignment is so confusing because he wants to make himself sound more intelligent. Classes are only beneficial for the five minutes when he briefly describes essays, the rest of the time is learning pointless information. No midterm or final exam was the only good thing.
He's a really hilarious teacher, very knowledgeable when it comes to writing, and I really enjoyed his class.
The lectures can be dry but it's not long and he cuts classes short often.
No tests. Homework due almost every class based on readings. Four papers, some of which are somewhat confusing to write about. He is not very clear when he is giving lectures but the text usually gives the most clear answers. Papers are not long and are only 3 pages minimum. Not bad for a comp 1 class at all. I didnt get above a 94 on homework
Good teacher, he gave homework every class period which was out of the textbook and straightforward. There were 3 main essays and a reflection essay which all had clear directions and he would make us do a peer review before the final product. He was very honest and clear about why you received your grade on the essays.
There is a bit of homework but you can skim the readings and answer the 4 questions the night before. His lecture is 4-7 slides about the reading. Theres only 4 essays the whole class and you spend a week having classmates grade them, its impossible to not pass. He is very understanding and willing to work with you. Also, theres no final exam :)
Great Professor, would totally take again, as long as you pay attention in class you will do fine pretty relaxed grader.
Professor Ethridge is great! I enjoyed his class. He has very clear grading criteria and is willing to help if you ask. Attendance is mandatory and participation really matters to him. There are reading summaries due every class and 4 big papers. Very easy class definitely take him if you have a loaded schedule and need a light class!
Attendance taken everyday, a summary of assigned reading due each class. Lectures/explains all class & has an amusing dry humor. 3 reflective essays & 1 academic. Incredibly honest feedback on essays, made me appreciate & understand the writing process & everything behind it. There are plenty of grade opportunities so it's easy to maintain an A.
I thought I couldn't write an essay going in this class, but he made it much easier. The class was extremely simple and I became a good writer after. I actually enjoy writing essays after taking this class. Do the four essays and homework and you will get an easy A. He grades extremely easy on the essays too.
Super boring summaries every class for homework. The essays are kind of weird to write just because they aren't very good prompts where you can write a lot about it. Class is boring but short. It's easy to make friends in his class though cause you do group discussions. Only good part about this class.
There is something due every single class. A lot of the material you learn is meaningless. However, it's a fairly easy class. Good professor to take if you don't like English.
The content can be a bit boring, but the class was managed extremely well. He sets clear expectations of what he's looking for and grades fairly while providing good feedback. The gradebook was maintained frequently and accurately. Don't skip class because participation (doing the readings and showing up) is a significant part of your grade.
Attendance is mandatory so don't miss out. The assignments in the class are overall pretty easy but there is an assignment due basically every class. The essays will take you time to do and I would advise not to do them the night before. The lectures could get boring but he teaches the content really well. The final exam was relatively easy.
We had at least two papers to summarize each week and 4 essays but all were fairly easy. He is a stickler when it comes to getting to class and on time, I was late by two minutes once and he marked me absent so I only got half credit that day. Besides that he is a nice guy and lets class out early half the time
Every class a summary of a reading is due. It may seem tedious and boring but the summaries are sources for the essays. Each class is a discussion of the summaries. He gives good feedback. Attendance is mandatory. 4 essays for the entire semester. Not a difficult class
He tries his best to engage students in class and gives good feedback every essay. There is a lot of readings in the textbooks but they are important because you can reference them in your essays. He gives a rubric for every essay and appreciates participation! He can be nitpicky with essays but this is because there's a lot of time to revise them.
Professor Ethridge is a great guy! He is pretty clear on what you should expect from his class; i.e. participation, essays, protfolio, etc. Overall, great professor.
LOVED HIM!!! Literally the cutest and sweetest dude ever. You can tell he really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I would definitely 100% take this class again!!!!
As an educator, he's beginning to slow down a bit. Often he'll lose his train of thought and/or misplace things. However, he cares DEEPLY for his students. I promise if you put in the work that he'll allow you the opportunity to succeed. It wasn't the most challenging course, and if you show up every day, you'll get the A. No exams, no quizzes.
Prof. Ethridge was a very nice guy who genuinely wants his students to succeed. Showing up to his class is mandatory as you complete activities and peer review. On each essay he leaves good feedback. Lots of reading and writing but its doable with good time management.
Grading made no sense as hw and essays were worth the same, gave no feed back, give preferential treatment to students, makes assignments and class structure overly complicated for no reason, I am not saying this just because I dont like this man the class was mediocre at best
He is very clear about grading for summaries due each class and how they should be submitted (ePortfolio.) Grading criteria for papers are not always as clear. Four major assignments including an annotated bibliography which helps for the final researched argument. Put some time into the portfolio, it does help your grade in the end. Dont' be late!
I took him for both 1101 & 1102. Very easy if you write your papers & participate in discussion boards. Boring lectures, but it is worth the A. Keep up with your eportfolio & don't forget anything, because he will round up your grade at the end if it's organized! Text summaries due basically every class. Attendance is graded but drops one.
As long as you do the assignment in full, you'll get an A. Keep up with the ePortfolio so you don't have to rush to do it in the end. The lectures are really boring, but go to class so you get credit. Overall, the class was cake and I wouldn't hesitate to take it again. Easy A.
Taking Professor Ethridge was really easy. The assignments were easy and the papers were interesting to write about. He would respond somewhat fast and would give good feedback.
I'd have to say the best part was how he laid out the content and how he taught said content to us; I learned valuable info and the way that he centered the main assignments (the essays) around 3 different types of academic writing we may encounter was good. Wish lectures were more interactive but I can't blame him because of COVID restrictions.
Not too bad. I thought the course was pretty easy, but make sure to keep up with weekly reading assignments. Not too tough of a grader on the three main projects (essays) and offers EC as well. Somewhat dull lectures, but COVID eliminated all the planned group activities.
As someone who naturally excels in English, this was a hard class. It could have been the 6-week summer format and online, but I would not recommend this prof, especially if you have a job. He uses lots of unnecessary/confusing jargon for assignment instructions and there is a paper due almost every day. You have to work extra hard to do well.
Before every class is usually a summary due on an article in the textbook which is 15 pages long.4 Essays throughout the course, and if you put the work into them, you will pass with an easy A. There is just a lot of reading in the textbook, however the whole course is laid out and easy to follow. Ethridge is also very fun to listen to and helpful
There are 4 major essays in this class and are all very specific to the rubric. Along with that there are a couple of readings due each week as well as before class summaries. The readings are important for in class discussions about them, so make sure you don't skip out on them as you will be called on to answer questions.
I loved writing, so it was a fun class. He liked to discuss in class, but be prepared to READ! He assigns two readings every week that need a summary (very easy grades), and if it wasn't for my love of English, I definitely would have resented that. Four Gordon Rule essays that were simple enough, and he gave good feedback. No final exam :D
Light workload with decently generous grading
Professor Ethridge was my favorite professor during my fall semester. The class structure was very clear: read the text and submit a summary before class. During class, he would review the readings and encourage discussion in the class. There are 4 essays each around 4 pages double-spaced MLA format. Don't be afraid to use the writing center!
I freaking loved this guy. He's kind, caring, and has that old man sense of humor. He's soft spoken, loves group work, and assigns two text summaries that are do every week before class. They're easy, and he isn't a hard grader at all. He's quite monotone, but it's a very manageable class, and he's such a friendly guy! Take his class if you can :-)
Very unorganized online course
Dr. Ethridge is a very caring teacher. I took this class virtual so I'm not sure how he is in the classroom, but he was very quick to respond to any questions I had via email. His grading criteria was clear and he gave good feedback. Be warned though: he's very homework heavy and assigns at least 3-4 reading summaries/hw a week + 3 total essays.
I wish I could say better things about Mr. Ethridge, he likes to portray a easy going attitude in the class but he is super hard on his rubrics that leave a ton of wiggle room for interpretation. His lectures quickly become repetitive offering little to no new information and have no room for any innovative or new thought at all.
Grades harshly but shows what is expected (especially formatting and citations). Class grade is mostly from attendance/participation, papers and text summaries. Not too much homework. He is a cool instructor in general.
Took the class fully online and involved usually a couple readings a week with an analysis for a grade. Three essays throughout the year are the majority of your grade that can be challenging if you don't know what to write about. The rubric and assignment criteria can be confusing at times and he grades tough but fair.
Anyone who says that his class was a lot of work has just never taken a college level class. Sure he made us read and edit our essays, but we had MONTHS to work on our essays (just 2). Mr. Ethridge also is an extremely witty and interesting teacher. This was my favorite class last year because the class was never boring.
lots of homework for a beginning english class. Couple of essays that are graded pretty hard but gives good feedback. As long as you complete all the work you should be good.
Lectures were pretty useless but required for the attendance grade. The portfolio is really important so make sure you get that right from the start. A lot of readings are assigned in the class, but that's expected for ENC 1102.
