he is strict but he prpares you for whats to come without the b.s. he can get extreme sometimes but thats reality good teacher if you mean business

I think that Stephen is an excellent teacher. He goes out of his way to help. He really cares about his students. He keeps everything real and to me that is a great teacher.

I thought tha Professor Fooks was a great teacher. He really cares about if you get the material. I would definitely suggest him to anyone I knew who struggles in Algebra. He made class fun, it was definitely not modane. I wish he was teaching the next class ,MAT 1033 - Intermediate Algebra, I would definitely take him again. Great Teacher!!

Professor Fook is very caring and makes his self available. However if you don't catch on to math quick I would not take him for Mat 0024. a little disorganized but over all a great person.

Wow if you think Fooks was hard you are a spoiled kid. He is easily the best math teacher I have ever had. This guy took hia weekend time to help me and a few others. Find another teacher that does that. The only time he gets loud is when someone is acting like a fool.

I have learned and understood more math in one week than I have my entire pre-college education. His clarity in teaching is amazing, and I am motivated in his class. I think he is a great teacher that will devote time to you outside of the class if you ask, and his priority, is to help students succeed that WANT to succeed. I recomend this teacher.

Best math teacher point blank. He rushes explanations at times to further along the class but has no problem (and even welcomes) explaining things out of class. He obviously cares for his students overall knowledge of the course and encourages questions, opinions, and insight. He's very proficient at what he does & I hope to take him again!

Professor Fooks is an excellent teacher. He makes the material very understandable. You have the option to use the book ($167.) or the one in lab or library. Work must be done from book and packet! He does work with you in the lab if you don't understand. Some prof will not! I recomend him, he is fantastic!

Fooks has a great sense of Humor he makes learning fun with his dry sarcasm. I think his class was Perpendicular! Plan on working hard and doing all your work. He gives you the tools to pass and wants you to pass. However, He lets you know it is entirely up to you. He will go above and beyond to give you the help you need. Great Prof!

Pretty good instructor. Makes things easy for everyone to understand. Has a dry and macabre sense of humor. Kind of dark. Keeps the class moving so it doesn't feel like it takes forever and a day. Grades pretty easily. Easy to get into contact with and offers a lot of help.

Mr. Fooks is a pretty good teacher, I'm easily going to pass this current semester with an A because of this. If you attend class every day and do the homework, you're likely to pass with flying colors.

I knew little going in and was refreshed with a easy understanding instructor who made learning math relaxing. *pay attention* and you'll pass.

Very good teacher, I really enjoyed his teaching methods. He taught one particular way, but told you if you did not understand his way, he could teach you a different way if you went to the Math lab. He was funny and joked around alot which made the class more relaxed. would definitely recommend him.

If you do the work, you will pass. He is also a tutor in the Math Lab, so if you need extra help you can get it in there from your teacher. He is a bit sarcastic, but he is hilarious. He not only wants you to pass, he wants you to understand the math you are working with.

Extremely easy class to learn in. He takes pride in students passing his class and will push you to do so. Has a dry sense of humor, which is amusing at times, and he also will meet with you on his private time to make sure you succeed. Homework load is trivial, but just don't fall behind.

I like the class and the teacher. He cares about everyone who's willing to learn by going the extra mile to help you out. The textbook wasn't useful at all. You need to go to class every day and take notes if you want to pass. He explains easy enough to where someone who is clueless can understand it. I definitely recommend this teacher.

I'm absolutely horrific with math (as in, not even solid on my times tables) and he made the experience beyond easy, all the while explaining everything crystal clear. Pretty dorky, too--in a good way! You will not go wrong taking Mr. Fooks. He is no longer in the Math Lab tutoring, but will make office hours for you on request. Wonderful guy!

Mr. Fooks is the best math teacher I've had. He teaches in a straight forward way and is willing to help anyone. Don't take this class unless you are willing to put in effort to study for tests and do the homework on time. Attendance and homework are two major grades in this class. Only thing I didn't like was he compared us to his UF students.

I hadn't taken a math class since freshman yr in high school, had severe anxiety about taking math in college. He taught you to understand WHY and not just how. Very laid back, good sense of humor & loves food... If you take him you'll know. He was encouraging and made math less-horrible... No textbook, only a workbook which is 100% essential.

I highly recommend Mr. Fooks for your developmental math courses. I have not been in high school for 12 years and had completely forgotten everything about math. The class was short and fast paced but he makes it easy to understand and only tests you on the stuff he lectured. He doesn't try to trick you or assign impossible homework. Study!

When I first Came in I was nervous but his sense of humor made me comfortable ,Not Only that he takes his time with you and helps you with anything you need help with im Thankful to have him as an professor !

Sometimes lectures didn't cover everything in the Homework but class time was limited so that is going to happen sometimes. Spent time in the Math Lab helping me and other students outside of class time to prepare for exam. Tests were like the homework and grading was pretty fair.

He is am amazing math teacher. Funny and easy going, but he makes it clear that you need to respect him as well as your peers. I think having mandatory math lab time was a huge help. Read you syllabus to understand how to grading works. Wish he taught another math class. Would highly recommend him. * Textbook advice, DON'T buy it. Just the code .

Very clear on what he expects. Overall, great and focused person. Has to be one of the best professors at Santa Fe. Just wish I could take more classes with him.

Professor Fooks is by far the best math teacher and possible one of the best teacher I have ever had. He just cared so much and really wanted everyone to pass. He would make sure everyone would understand before moving. I was never good at math and he tought in way that made it so easy to learn. Highly recommend for people not great at math.

Mr. Fooks should not being teaching students. He should be teaching other teachers how to teach. It's a real shame he doesn't teach the upper level classes. He breaks the math down to where you can understand it, and doesn't make you dumb for a second. It kind of feels like your brother is tutoring you, actually. He truly cares for his students.

I have failed MAT1033 three times now and decided to take MGF1100.. and Mr. Fooks is easily the best math teacher at Santa Fe, ever. Is lectures are so broken down/dumbed down that even I can follow them. He goes over EVERYTHING and makes it as easy as possible to learn. I would take him for every math ever.

Cares for all his students and answers his emails. In class work is worth 15% of ur grade, only one or two problems and he occasionally makes you turn them in. Only got a B bc I got lazy sometimes. Homework and quiz every week online but u can retake as many times as you want. Don't need the book but do need a online code.

Mr. Fooks is a great teacher and a great guy. He knows how to teach and he's freakin hilarious so it makes the math part of class not so bad. He will help you on the weekends and responds to emails. He really looks out and cares for his students and will sit one on one with you in the lab. Definitely would recommend.

Probably the best math professor I have ever had. He may seem harsh at first, but it is only because he wants to see you succeed. He will stay on you to make sure you are doing your work but its because he wants to see you pass at the end of the semester. If you listen to his advice and constantly work hard he will not let you fail.

During all of his lectures he was very clear and worked out any problems any of his students had. If there was an issue with a grade he would check on it and fix if needed quickly. He stays for the whole duration in the math lab and helps if needed. He was also a very nice guy.

If you skip class and are going to college for any reason but to obtain a degree do NOT attend this class. Fooks will assist you if you're actually trying to succeed but won't lose any sleep over the ones who don't try. Fantastic professor!

If you're absolutely terrible at math like I am, then this teacher is for you. If you put the effort in, he will do everything he can to make sure that you understand the material. Math has always been my least favorite subject, but this was my favorite class to attend this semester.

This Professor makes learning algebra quite easily and will go above and beyond to make sure you pass because he cares for every single one of his students. He clearly explains all the material in class and will help you if you need any help. I received an A in his class by simply doing the homework and studied a little for the test.

Took Fooks class Fall 2017 semester. Really good teacher you attend class you will passed. I hate math not good at it my first time getting A in math. HW,quiz, and test done on my open math lab. Take practice test many times you will passed each test. He collects your written work after each test so you always get extra points added on your test.

Hands down best teacher Ive ever had. Ive never been great at math. I passed with flying colors. He explained everything perfectly and taught that class with passion. I used to fail pretty much anything you set in front of me. He expects you to put in youre half of the work of course but he by far exceeds what any teacher has ever done for me.

I took Prof. Fooks for MGF 1107. He was very funny at times, but dead serious at others. I thought I was failing the class but ended up with a B. It was fast paced for me, but I did learn a lot!! I say take him!!

Mr. Fooks is probably my favorite professor. He gave it to you straight, but he was hilarious. He did a recall at the beginning of class which helped start the new lecture without missing anything prior. You were expected to turn in homework 2x/week. We had three exams and a final. If you struggle with math- I urge you to take him! 10/10 recommend.

Mr. Fooks was one of the best professors I ever had at Santa Fe. He made me feel more confident in my ability to do math and that is a big deal, as I was convinced I was just cursed to be forever bad at it. He explains things very well, and is always available for questions. My one regret is he doesn't teach more classes, but I am thankful for his.

I have ALWAYS been horrible at math. When I took math readiness with Fooks, it was my third attempt at passing the class and I couldn't be happier that I chose him as my professor for my final attempt. His "tough love" attitude was exactly what I needed to finally get the credit. Best professor ever.

Not a lot of professors out there like Mr. Fooks. Someone who cares about you, but gives it to you straight, no BS. He is there for you; email, office hours, etc. Cant forget to mention theres ZERO calculators, and if you like skipping, good luck on getting a good grade. Dont skip, he actually makes math enjoyable.

I took professor Fooks last spring, he was the best teacher I have had in my life, made everything so clear and easy to understand. He actually makes me consider becoming a teacher to be like him! I highly recommend this man. Not only did I take an 8 am class with him but I looked forward to it?! He is very good at explaining math. And for an 8am he made it a nice start to my day. He makes sure all of his students are doing what they need to do in order to succeed. Brilliant guy.

You'll have like 3, 50 question homeworks due on all the same day, but you can also retake quizzes like 10 times. The notes and video lessons are pretty easy to get through, but make sure you remember to turn everything in in time, I forgot to turn in notes at the beginning of class and it messed my grade up but I recovered it pretty easily.

I took this class as a summer class where it was all online. Mr. Fooks uploaded videos to youtube where he was explaining what he was teaching. I have never been very good at math, but I had an A the whole class! As long as you pay attention to the lectures you will be fine.

Math isn't an easy subject for me, but this teacher made it possible for me to get an A. There is a lot of homework, but you can take over and over until you get a 100%. The lectures are clear, and to the point. This teacher responds to emails, and he tries his best to help you. He wants you to do well. You won't regret taking him.

BEST math professor i've ever had

This class can be tough! There is a lot going on and it was easy to miss assignments and deadlines. Prof Fooks was really nice when I did miss work. He didn't let me make it up but drops a couple of quizzes and homeworks so it didn't bring my grade down in the end!

MAT1033 has a LOT of work you have to do each week two homeworks and a quiz and sometimes other stuff. I took this class before and failed it with another teacher. The class is the same, I guess the math unit designs the courses but Fooks met with me in office hours and emailed with me to help me prepare for tests. I have a B right now

Each week you typically have two homework's and a quiz then tests bi-weekly. There are additional assignments to submit notes and meet with tutors for check ins prior to tests. If you put in the effort to learning and mastering the material you will pass. You have a chance to raise one test grade and replace lowest test grade if you show mastery!

I took Fooks in person class semesters ago and it was awesome! Online is a lot harder because you don't get the in person interaction everyday but I emailed him and he was able to help me anyway.

This was my first online class and it was a lot more work than I was expecting! Fooks met with me in office hours and even though my first test wasn't good I was able to do much better on the others. He gives exam review guides and answers emails pretty quickly usually in a day. Wouldn't do online again but he was willing to take time to help!

Mr Fooks made sure we all knew what was going to be covered on Test 1 and gave us extra points for doing the review quiz. He also has office hours in the tutoring lab and is always free to help

I ended up getting surgery in the middle of the semester and prof Fooks was willing to work with me on deadlines and assignment deadlines and ultimately we worked out that I would get an incomplete and finish it in the next semester and I got a b in spring 2022! Thank you Mr Fook!

If you spend enough time in the studio with stephen or tutors you will be fine. If you let assignments stack up you will not able to catch up.This class has a lot of work so be ready. Nat and Jim and great tutors who work with me a lot.

Great teacher, you should definitely try him.

He is an amazing professor and a really chill dude! Cared about his students and did everything he could to help us. Every time I asked him for help he was very patient. Highly recommend him as a professor. Unfortunately only got to have him for part of a semester :(

Fooks is a great professor who cares about his students. While the class has a decent workload, using the math studio and tools like Unstuckstudy made it manageable. Overall, a rewarding experience.

Although I did not take Fooks for a class, he was always willing to explain something to me. I took MAT1034 with another professor, who didn't care. He was the polar opposite. He'll work with you if you DO THE WORK. He told me about some great sites to aid me in my learning, including Khan Academy on YouTube.

Fooks runs the math lab down the hall from the class and we went there everyday after our class. Sometimes I was ok and didn't need help but when I did and before tests the tutors were very helpful! Fooks gave us good idea of what to study on exams and if you spend the time where he tells you will pass. He can be scary but hes actually nice
