Steve is an incredibly fun teacher with a lot of creative ideas. He always keeps the class interested and makes psych even more demented than it already is (that's a good thing).
great teacher and a very interesting person. this is by far my favorite class.
He seems to have a fun personality that makes the lectures more bearable. Is fair on exams and really explains things well.
He's an excellent teacher, he keeps you interested in the topic. Very organized and helpful. Exams are very detialed, yet not too bad.

Very good teacher, easy to talk to. Will help you out, but you do have to do the reading. Lecture doesn't include everything.
Great class, easy grader
You've got to read the text because he doesn't include everything that's on the tests in his powerpoints. Overall, Steve's a great teacher and he makes the subject interesting
Steve is a great guy, the class was my favorite this semester. The exams are really nitpicky though, which can lead to disappointing grades even though you know everything you should. The class experience itself is very good, just watch out for those exams.
I love Forsell. He is an awesome teacher that makes class fun. Easy class if you just get your stuff done.
Fun class and Profesor Forsell is funny and very nice. Definitely go to his "happy office hours" at least once to get to know him in person. Don't skip class, because you never know what you'll miss.

Very friendly, knowledgable professor. Not the easiest grader, and the tests are long, but the class itself is great.
A great teacher- I learned alot in this class, and the lectures were interesting and thought provoking. In addition, he is a nice guy, with a positive outlooks, and a love for teaching- Tahe this class, and you will enjoy it!
Great Professor. Everything you would ever want in an intro class. When in doubt, take Forssell.
Great guy. Very helpful.
There are no homework assignments or pop quizzes but the tests are difficult even though it's multiple choice.
GREAT teacher - one of my favorite prof's. his tests are hard though, but they are fair...be prepared to read a lot for this class!
He is very nice
He's amazing. Tests contain no surprises, his lectures are interesting and he has a sense of humor. He has no problems with explaining any complex issues. Definitely get in his class.
This is a large lecture class. Tests are multiple choice scantron, easy if you read the book and attend class. Plenty of extra credit. Steve is a very funny guy. His lectures are engaging and interesting. He also has "Happy Office Hours" and brought his dog to class for a demonstration.
CAPPY!!
I had him for a lecture, which was difficult because there was not a lot of direct communication. But, he is a very entertaining guy who makes even the most boring sections of the material lively!
Steve is a really great professor who clearly teaches the subject because he is very interested in it. He is especially good with the units on gender and sexuality because he teaches the psych sex differences class as well. I highly reccommend this class, however, it is not an easy A.Tests are hard.
A cool guy but his tests are hard! If you dont like multiple choice, DO NOT take this class. even if you do really well on them, be prepared to study cuz his questions can be very vague.
He's a good guy, makes class interesting, gives no HW or quizzes. However, he tests are hard and there is a lot of reading, but he makes it fun and is willing to curve.
what a great guy. makes psychology an interesting subject. cares about his students enough to give a mid-semester evaluation and modify the course content from then on. 4 tests drops the lowest grade. not necessary to go to class but id still recommend it. extra credit too. got me interested in psyc
Really makes class fun. The grade is based on 4 tests, and he drops the lowest one. I didn't even have to take the "final" cause my first 3 tests got me an A. Is helpful when approached. Brought his dog in once for a class demonstration. He loves his dog.
Very helpful, made class fun.
Go to class, dont fall asleep, read text, study for exams, ull be fine.
Awesome professor. Makes class a lot of fun. Gives out extra credit! Study a lot though, his tests are vague.
tests are hard and he is very boring during lecture. he is monotone and reads off of his powerpoints.
Great professor...tests are HARD and vague. But he gives out extra credit, most of the info. comes from the book so its okay if you miss a couple of classes...or fall asleep in class. You get to meet his dog :) Cool guy, go see him during office hours.
Very interesting, funny guy. Makes class fun. Very fair on grading, straightforward. Tests are hard, lots of reading, but worth it. You learn a lot and have a good time. Only real work you do is studying for the 3-4 tests, no hw, quizzes or class participation. Enjoyable class - take psych with him!
Great teacher... gave 4 tests (none accumulative) and let you drop one test but gives no chance for a make up test (which means if u miss one test its considered your skip) but he gives a lot of extra credit and hes reaaaally flexible about his office hours and really wants you to do well
Pretty easy. If you have the notes you will ace the test. Always around for help and usually pretty funny. He'll say stuff you don't expect a teacher to talk about...but hey its sex class.
The class was fair, and he was consistently fair in his methods of grading and teaching. I personally did not like him nor his style of teaching--he didn't make the material interesting or fun (but not for lack of trying). But all-in-all, being in his class was a decent experience.
Cool guy. His tests are detailed and from the book. Maybe you don't have to go to class, but make sure you know the chapters!
Pretty simple class. Lectures are very well organized, tests are straightforward. Read over the chapters and the lecture notes he posts. He's a really great and charismatic professor. Great for an intro course, and he also teaches some upper level Psych courses. Highly recommended.
Do everything in your power to take this class! He was one of the best professors I have ever had at GW. His lectures are extremely engaging and interesting. He is awesome!
The class was 'okay'. Not the greatest subject but not a hard course if you are looking for a GCR to fill or something. Didn't really learn all that much. Exams aren't bad.
His tests are 'fair' in that they only cover things he has covered, but he puts to most minute stupid details on them. He does reward you for going to class, but sometimes it's hard to handle him if you've had a long day...
Easy class, fun teacher. He grades pretty hard on the lit review but tests are veery easy.
he is a funny guy and his test are really easy if you actually study
Great Professor, knows his material well and is interested in teaching. Fairly easy, basic course. Very helpful and available outside of class. One of the best undergrad courses I have taken.
very interesting class
Such an intersting class. He loves his dog and he some how incorportes it in every class which is funny. You watch a lot of movies that are really interesting. Test are a little tricky but if you study or study previous exams you will do fine. He drops your lowest test score which make it easy to do well.
He's a good professor. His tests are really easy. You'd have to try really hard to fail this class.
such a great guys! so nice and funny and always willing to help. tests a bit tricky but once you get the hang of it, youre good
Very good teacher. Only suggestions, show up to class to get participation points (no make-ups), REVIEW the major points in the book, watch his videos (at least one of his test questions will pertain to them), and pay attention to the analogies he makes during his powerpoints. He is fun and fair, although the material can be a tad boring at times.
Great professor, tests are totally fair, even easy if you actually study. His sex diff's class WILL keep you awake at 8 am. He makes it fun and interesting. Def. a keeper, and a very nice guy one-on-one.
Go to class!! (not everyone-but most) Tests are very reasonable if you've read the material. Subject matter is interesting and he shows a lot of cool videos. Very entertaining. definately take this class.
awesome guy but the class is really difficult.Go to class and keep up on the reading...alnighters before the exams will not do you any good. Go to his office hours though...hes a really interesting guy.
Great teacher! I really loved his class, but I was stuck with a ton of really conservative freshmen, who made it a pain sometimes. But Forssell is awesome, and he's really funny. Study and take the online quizzes and you'll get an A (in other words, do what he says)!
Easy course but the material is soo boring! Plus he does not make it interesting at all, he just reads off powerpoint slides that he keeps online. Plus he spews his political opinions as facts. Take for an easy A.
very easy to approach, OPEN MINDED, tolerant, respectful, understanding, and i have no idea what someone meant by " he spews his political opinions as facts" because he never shared his opinions about anything although he liked us to, he gave facts and gives u the info u need to make a good decision when it comes to politics or social life, easy cla
i have no idea what everyone is raving about. This guy IS NOT easy. I studied my ass off for all tests and didn't crack an 85. I squeaked out an A-, though, from going to class. Don't miss a class so you don't miss participation points; they are your only hope to do well.
Great guy - funny and good at engaging the people. Must go to class, and must read - exams aren't easy - all multiple choice though. Gives extra credit.
Forssell is awesome - I highly recommend that everyone takes him (if possible) for Gen Psych. He has a great and interactive way of teaching, even though the material could at times be too "scientific" and dull. It is not hard to do well on his tests if you make sure you know ALL the material (he loves little details from teh book). He is the best
sometimes his mult. choice questions can be vague and you get them wrong even though you know the material. kind of sneaky, but overall a fair and good professor...
great teacher. really passionate about the material. tests are very hard.
He's adorable, cute, funny, smart. All tests are mc and there's one paper but they're all fairly easy. I do kinda reccommend reading the book because that can raise your grade from a B to an A.
Good teacher. Knows his stuff and presents it on a fairly easy level. Go to class and read the book for an easy A. The lectures are very relaxed and questions are open. He can move fast at times but the reading helps. Tests are all MC, fair, and the lowest one is dropped. Participations are a pain but buffer your grade + have built in extra credit.
One of my favorite professors at GW - even his Powerpoints are amusing. Discussions are interesting and relevant, and he's hilarious and incredibly smart, but a little spacey and awkward at times. Skim the book, but save yourself the trouble and focus on the definitions page. I'm just sorry I never made it to Happy Office Hours.
he is the best prof. i've ever had! going to his happy office hours and having a corona with him, studying for his tests, writing his papers.. all were a good time. I'm definetly going to take any other course he is teaching. I HIGHLY recommend him.
Study for the exams! REALLY STUDY! Read the book and the powerpoints and you can get an A (averages for each exam are about 83... fair) wise, nice, and interesting... He knows his stuff and is very helpful.... also if u suck up to him.... he will be nicer to you!
Great guy, who knows his stuff. If you go to class you will be fine, and read the textbook. Get to know him, hes really nice, even though he appears like a hard ass the first few days. Hes a great teacher and among the best. Tests are very fare and if you study you will be fine.
I don't get the rave about Forssell. He's kind of nice, kind of a good professor, but in no way is he worth getting up at 8 am for. The tests require an incredible amount of studying. And although this isn't the professor's fault, social psych is horrendously boring, which doesn't make the reading any easier...
I don't understand why everyone recommends Forssell except that the class is insanely easy. His powerpoints are just average and he offers none of his real-life experience, making the lectures about as interesting as watching paint dry. The TA did a better job lecturing.
I think he is an amazing professor! He helps you understand what is going on by relating it to your life. He's a sex major and mostly he ties things to sex (keeps you interested!) He's funny and if you read the book you are guarenteed at least a B, but probably an A! Take him!!
Love the class, read all the chapters, and then get 70's on all the test. Do not take this class if you want an A..or a B. Every test it just keeps getting worse and I am working hard. He doesn't help and just makes the worst tests. It's very disappointing.
Great Teacher, easy class, clear and easy to understand, the slides are so helpful, not hard to do well in his class.
I'm not understanding the Forssell craze. Yeah, he's different because he has a very laid back personality, but he is not that interesting of a lecturer, he just reads directly from the slides which come directly from the book. Plus, but his tests ARE difficult and require a great deal of studying.
need to read chapter before test, has research requirement where u are pretty much a lab rat and participate in studies. plays videos during class, tries to make things funny. if u do well enough on the other tests and u like ur grade u dont hav to take the final (final counts as test, drops lowest test score)
He has a great sense of humor and is a pretty laid back guy but he doesnt like repeating himself so you need to pay attention and read the syllabus. The test were challenging but if you go over his lectures and actually read the book you should be able to get an A or B. Part of the grade is also participation so you have to go the class
ok he's funny, so what? don't take this if you want an A, thats what i thought i was gunna get. the only good thing was participations. If you want an A or B, take something else
I have to say I had NO interest in Psychology before I took this class; I just needed it for my GCRs. But Steve is an AWESOME professor. His Powerpoint slides are very clear, though he can go kind of fast during lectures. Yes, you have to go to class and read the text thoroughly, but his tests are all multiple choice. He is a great teacher! :)
GREAT teacher. NO FINAL. lectures are really really really interesting. Test's are really not hard.
Great prof. Knows that alot of people are taking it for a GCR and tries to make the material as simple as possible. He does sometimes go through it a little fast but if you don't understand you can ask him and reading the book helps. Tests are fair. Has 4 m/c tests including final all weighted equally and drops lowest.
Amazing professor. Too bad he's leaving.
honestly one of the best profs at gw. so interesting. tests are sometimes challenging but fair if you study. take his class.
Really nice guy. Tests are sometimes hard but just do the reading and study. Classes are fun. doesn't take attendance, but you should go anyways.
The class is really interesting. The lectures are amazing
Good class.. Not hard to do well if u read txtbook /come to class
Hes a great lecturer, super engaging and charismatic, but theres a significant bit of test material not covered, so if you want an A you have to read the book too. Attendance not mandatory but participations are 25% of your grade SO GO!
Amazing teacher, truly knows what he's talking about and is an incredibly interesting lecturer. great class!
Nice and easygoing guy. The material is pretty interesting. Packs a lot of stuff onto the powerpoints so it helps to go to lecture. The tests can be slightly challenging but are not too difficult if you know the material. To do perfect you have to read the book and go to class; to do OK you can get away with just class. I'd recommend it.
The Sex Differences class is awesome, and you learn a lot in it.. but he's a very dificult grader for papers and the test material is really difficult to study. If you take this class you'll enjoy it and truly like the work you're doing, but your grades probably won't reflect it.
He's a really funny and great guy. He's really biased though, so if you're conservative you will be offended by his opinions. He posts his PowerPoints online, but sometimes he has participation grades in class. He drops your lowest test score- but the tests require a lot of studying. Overall, great class.
Seriously the best professor I have. He's compelling, engaging, charismatic, and so funny. It's fun to listen to him lecture! Tests: they're a bit difficult and detailed, so study way in advance to get all of the info in (and there is a lot). Go to class for participation grades--easy A's you'll need to cushion his tests. But definitely take him!!
Forssell is the BOMB. He's an amazing professor; really knows his stuff and tries to engage people into intro psych topics through videos and really interesting examples. He's got a way of making really detail-heavy tests, so study out of the textbook to get it all down. Other than that, his class is my all-time favorite. No problems!
Forssell is actually awesome! I took him for General Psych first semester as a freshman, and even though he uses power points the whole class, he is really funny and engaging. Beware the conservative that takes his course, because his liberal bias definitely shows. The lectures allow heavy computer use, which can be detrimental to attention span.
Amazing professor!
Forsell is awesome! He teaches off power points, but he is very witty and puts an interesting spin off of everything. This is good because power points are easy to study! His exams are a little difficult but even without reading the book I got an A. Attendance isn't mandatory but he does random participations. He's pretty much the rockstar of Psych
He is amazing and very inspirational. No easy A. He works harder than the full time professors, but still only an adjunct. GW needs to rethink this. He is a chill, cool, smart, caring, real and great professor. He expects high quality work and want critical thinking. He appreciates effort and makes his courses very salient! Take him!
A great class, very well taught with straightforward lectures. I learned a lot, and the professor kept the class engaging and interesting. I would definitely recommend this professor, as he clearly knows his stuff and is a great teacher.
Take another psych class. I've taken psych with other teachers and enjoyed it and done well. Forssell made me hate it. He's rude and not willing to help. His tests are multiple choice and on very obscure details of the reading. Does not know the names of any of his students, nor does he care how you do.
I love Prof Forssell. He is a lot of fun. Extremely knowledgable. If he offers this class again definitely take it if you are in Honors. Everyone I know of in the class got an A. If you're taking him for Gen Psych I have never heard a bad thing about him.
Forssell is great professor and I highly recommend taking his class. He is really clear and helpful and funny too. Going to his class was fun and it really helped prepare me for his tests and papers. You will do better if you read the book, but the book is interesting so it isnt tough to do
Incredibly unhelpful professor. The reviews on here are too kind, he doesn't so much teach as he summarizes the book. Tests are mc and you end up learning nothing insightful about psychology. Get a different professor.
He is an awful professor, and he actually made me dislike psychology and drop it as my major. He also refuses to have normal office hours.
This guy is great. He makes his lessons so interesting and fun. I never get bored, he makes you listen to himself, it's like a stand-up show. Definitely take his class. My best professor at GW so far. Tough but fair exams keep in mind ;)
Not my fav prof. but he's funny. Try to go to his Happy Office Hours because he's 100x better there!! Clearly knowledgable but teaches from the book - exams can be hard especially if you don't study but a TON of chance to make it up IF you go to class. Ten 10 pt. particpations (full credit just for trying), 4 exams but drops lowest score. Take him!
Was very engaging, but the class required a significant amount of work. It's a great class to take if you don't have a heavy workload for that semester b/c it requires a lot of reading which makes up the majority of the tests. His lectures are very interesting but the class can be difficult. There are 4 exams & final, each 60+ questions all mc.
Read the power points, read the textbook, don't forget your psych studies, and you should be fine. the exams are long and cover alot of material but doable if you read the material. He is very clear, funny, and adorable.
Good prof. Not the easiest of classes. Fair grader, but you do so much learning on your own. Definitely a fun guy to listen to during lecture, though.
Lectures are incredibly engaging and participation is encouraged. Make sure you read all the assigned readings; they'll come back on the tests. You'll probably be pushed out of your comfort zone a little with some of the credit opportunities, but it's worth it! Definitely one of my favorite classes at GW so far!
the material is very easy. His exams are what will get you. I will share a secret with you though: go on the book website and take as many of the sample quizzes as you can bc he uses those questions on the exam (Ssssh). I wish I had discovered it earlier but I'm telling you USE IT! lectures are boring but go anyway for the participation points.
There are 4 exams, but he drops the lowest ones. His happy office hours are great, I strongly recommend going to at least 1. Forssell is just all around a really cool person. His lectures are interesting, and sometimes he shows videos. His tests are all multiple choice, but they're definitely challenging. You need to put in some effort
4 exams, drops the lowest. Multiple choice exams mostly. Just go to class takes attendance without telling and gives pop quizzes where they are not even hard. Put some effort you will guarantee a b or an b+. Tests can be challenging and long. Great person overall !
Forssell is an amazing professor who is so smart it's intimidating. The first two exams have more material so are a bit harder, but the second two get easier. Make sure to do all experiments and participations: helps your grade a lot! If you read the book, go over lectures, and test yourself, you can swing an A. Use his resources!
He wants you to do well. He wants to give you a good grade. He wants you to enjoy the material. Read the assigned chapters in textbook once, go to classes and take some notes and you can do well with relative ease. Also, he is just really entertaining.
Don't take this class if you have trouble hearing. I've never met a professor before who actually needs to make an effort to speak words. Overall it was easy. I honestly did not open the text book one time and got a B+. The final was also online AND open note. Its just a really freaken boring class.
There are 4 tests and he drops the lowest one. To me, the tests aren't super easy but they're doable. You have to read the textbook, make sure you get eight participations done in class, and do your research credits outside of class. He only wants to talk if it's in office hours. Hates emails. Makes lectures entertaining.
Amazing professor ! Although you had to read a lot in this class the content was really interesting ! Hes hilarious and wants everyone to pass. He also curves on exams and has given online exams several times! Definitely take him
I understand that I seem to disagree with the majority of comments listed here, but I didn't enjoy the professor or class. The biggest grades were the 4 exams and they were hard. The professor was also boring and arrogant because he constantly tried to show how smart he was. The exams were so technical and is hard for non-psych majors.
Good professor. Interesting lecture. Easy class. 2 of the 4 exams were online, open-book, open note. Show up to lecture and you won't have to read often. He doesn't trigger warn his lectures properly though so be aware if you've experienced physical/sexual trauma.
Nice professor, though sometimes the lectures were boring. 2/4 exams were online and you can drop one. The exams weren't super easy, so make sure to read the book. Participations are random so make sure you are in class for at least 8 of them, and fulfill your research requirements to boost your grade.
Forssell is an absolute gem of GWU. The class is by no means easy but you can do well by working hard. He is very funny and personable and I felt like I knew him well by the end of the semester even though I never talked to him. Also it was nice to not have to take a final.
2/4 tests are open note online, and you can drop one exam score. Easy if you read the textbook and take good notes. Funny lectures and personable guy.
If you're looking for a boring lecture hall with a teacher that gives you useless study guides then you have to sign up for this class!
Prof Forssell is great! He seems like a bit of a grump, but he knows his stuff and the class is easy if you do the work. You take four tests (three of which are online and open note) and the lowest grade is dropped. Make sure to get your research participation requirements done as soon as they're available!
Really nice professor. It is the traditional lecture style and participation points are part of your grade. Test were a little hard depending on the topic and you have to read to do well on test. If you show up, take notes, and actually study you should do well.
Professor Forssell was a very effective lecturer, especially for online. The workload depends on what you put in, but the tests are fairly easy regardless (open note, open internet at least during online school). There's one or two prerecorded lectures each week plus some helpful interactive textbook activities.
Forssell is the best teacher ever. He is super understanding and chill, with all the online issues we had this semester he always managed to help us. The class consists of homework every week, research credits and 4-5 exams. The material is very interesting so studying isn't dreadful. Definitely love this man
Traditional lecture style. The class is very easy and understandable IF you do the work, you really have to try to fail. The exams are open note. 4 highest exam grades are taken out of 5. TA is pretty nice too!
Easy and interesting class, as long as you do the homework readings and watch the lectures. Tests are open book which was great but won't do you any good if you don't do the textbook assignments and take notes. Attendance wasn't really mandatory but join the lectures anyway because he's super nice and can give you a good laugh!
A really good professor, and made an intro class really interesting. There was a lot of reading involved and little assignments, but they were helpful for the exams, which were all multiple choice. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but the lectures were usually pretty interesting.
Pay attention and keep up-to-date with the HW and it'll be an easy A. Professor is very nice and understanding. 10/10 will recommend!
Prof. Forssell is an excellent teacher in an online setting. The course was set up clearly, and the requirements were fairly simple. He made learning about psychology fascinating. The tests were not at all difficult as long as you read the textbook and finished the activities (pretty simple and painless). I would recommend taking a class with him.
Standard lecture style, and he is good at it. He uses humor which makes the class stay engaging. You can email him if you need help. You have a good amount of reading, 3 hours a week. You have weekly (completion graded) practice problems, which are helpful and quick (20mins). Open notes multiple choice tests. If you are smart they aren't difficult.
I really liked Mr. Forssell as a teacher, he made the lectures interesting but the class wasn't too hard overall. Tests were open note so as long as you did the reading and took notes you would do well. I would advise coming to class because there is occasionally graded participation. No discussions or group work, everything is lecture based.
I absolutely loved this class. Dr. Forssell really knows his stuff! He's one of the most personable professors I have had. He is not afraid to joke around with the class, or share his opinions which is great. The material was relevant and interesting and overall enjoyable. There are random in class participations throughout the semester BTW!
Prof Forssell is super funny, his lectures are really clear and he's not afraid to have fun with the class without being distracted from the content. The tests are open note and you have four days to complete them so as long as you read the textbook you should be fine. There is in class participation but there's ways to make it up if you miss it.
He is a great professor and his lectures are interesting, however, the tests are a little confusing and out of the 700 points, 500 are exams, even though they are multiple-choice, they can be tough. Also, 100 points are participation, so make sure to attend class and participate.
he's great and very passionate. exams are extremely application based (5, multiple choice exams throughout the year, nothing is cumulative) so get ready to read. overall a really solid choice especially if you're interested in psych
Prof Forssell is very laid-back and funny, but his lectures can be very dry. His class is very easy if you read and take notes on the textbook, because that's what he tests on. I recommend going to lecture because participation is a part of your grade and he sometimes mentions specific case studies that can be on the test. Overall, I recommend it.
Forsell is a great prof who has clear grading criteria. 5 exams that are all online and all multiple choice. Make sure to read because exams are all application. Show up to lecture so you don't miss the participations. Also lectures are interesting and funny.
forssell goes very very fast in class so dont expect to get all of the notes down, but be sure to look at the slides after class (he posts them) to get what you missed. all exams are open notes and are NOT cumulative and very fair. the class was very straightforward and forssell is very fun and does froggy bottom happy hours which are amazing to go
Dr. Forssell was the best! Awesome experience for my first semester of psychology. Would definitely take this professor again. Best dead pan jokes and a great lecturer. 10/10
Professor Forssell is great, a super nice person. Exams are difficult and worth majority of grades. So get ready for exams.
Forssell is a great proffessor, he is clearly passionate and has engaging lectures. He is straight to the point. The exams are bring home multiple choice. There is a lot of content. Attendance isn't mandatory and he records his lecture so you don't have to miss out on anything. Would definitely recommend this class.
. Dr. Forssell is great instructor and I thought almost all of his lectures were super interesting. He's super personable as well. Grades consist of take home open book open note tests and participation done in class and reading assignments. Attendance isn't mandatory but his lectures were interesting enough to go to class in my opinion.
Dr.Forsell is super engaging and very passionate about his teachings. The class reflects the textbook heavily, but the exams aren't cumulative and they're open notes.
Class material is not too hard. Although class is optional, show up because he does participations you do not want to miss. Great guy though, one of the best professors you could have in the psychology department. Highly recommend happy Office Hours.
Easiest class ever. All tests are open note and online. You can make up any assignments.
Easy class and knows how to keep his class engaged. Pretty funny at times but loves dad jokes. Overall, great guy and great professor.
Likely a result of teaching 350+ kids at once, Prof Forssell's course design is far from ideal. The tests are online and almost entirely based upon the textbook only, rendering lectures nothing more than participation points. Literally just read the book to pass the class. For the times I did go to lecture however, he was funny. Accessible + caring
Literally can only say good things about this professor. He is so funny, and it's honestly hard to do bad in this class.
Professor Forssell was absolutely amazing. He made the topics fun, and he was knowledgeable on everything presented. Attendance isn't required, although there are in class participations, so just be wary if you decide not to attend. All tests are open note, online, and taken out of class period; that being said, you do have to prepare for them.
Prof. Forssell was great for intro psych. Lectures were always engaging if you read the material beforehand, and he did class demonstrations, participations, & videos in class which were always fun. 5 exams non-cumulative/open note, and exactly what is stressed in class, but still study because some questions are very niche. 10/10 would take again!
really engaging and understandable lecturer. the class is graded mostly on exams, but they're all open book and not very difficult as long as you understand the material. attendance isn't technically mandatory, but he does do participation grades on random days and if you aren't there you'll have to write a page to make the grade up.
He makes sure to break down material and give plenty of examples to make students understand. His lectures can be dry at time but he is a lighthearted person who cares a lot about the field. Tests are open book and very easy if you use the time wisely. Only two simple papers and occasional attendance checks, overall would recommend.
Lectures are boring, not very engaging in class. 5 big exams, they are all open notes and take home. No final or midterm which is nice. Goes through slides quickly, hard to write notes or absorb. Can have a bit of a temper, but nice guy, lots of dad jokes. Wouldn't take class unless necessary. If exams weren't open notes it would be impossible.
He's so kind and the class was a breeze. There is so much leeway as long as you show up and read the textbook. The way he grades is very clear, and there is no midterm or final. Def recommend meeting at happy office hours to establish more of a connection.
no midterm or final, open note exams, and two papers. a bit condescending/ rude in his emails but overall a good professor. doesnt do makeup for participation so show up to class. textbook heavy
has popquiz participation. screwed over my grade from a to b+ bc of it. gives out extra credit at the end (strict deadline tho). take home online exams (non-cumulative) but very wordy scenario problems (only 8% questions was about terminology). kinda mumbles/rambles a bit. tests kinda hard tbh purely bc questions took so long to read/understand.
Dr Forssell made his class very interesting with in-class participation and jokes along the way. All the tests were open note and online which made test-taking more bearable. Make sure you go to class to get participation credit and do the homework. Overall a very refreshing class to take and not too hard as long as you pay attention.
The dude is a total chiller, he has office hours at the pub ffs. The class was also not too hard especially since all the test were take home.
Search the Textbook and/or slides for exams (I copied and pasted all the slides for each exam period into one doc) Forssell is awesome. He's super funny and has great lectures. He is often snarky. Great to talk to after class or in office hours. Highly recommended!!
Class is graded on "participation" which is where he writes a prompt and you answer, very short. Their are5 test but based on the text book. You have to research on a topic, I didn't do it but it not hard, best to get doe early. Mandatory text book to do hw, but everything is very easy, very easy to get an A. He's a laid back professor
Professor Forssell is a very fun person and loves to make jokes in class! He grades pretty easy. All of the exams are online. There are some random days in lecture where he would make us do some sort of activity for participation points. Other than that he is a pretty easy grader.
Professor Forssell makes the class fun with jokes, but the exams can be tricky if you don't prepare. Open-note tests and participation grades help, but attendance is a must. Try using Unstuckstudy alongside the textbook for efficient study prep.
