Don't be fooled by the high ratings on this professor, he's awful and boring. He doesn't respond to emails and will give you a zero if you miss peer reviews on your assignments. Also, if you are going to miss class, don't, he will not accommodate you (even if he says he will) and your grade will suffer.

Professor Gibson is very passionate about English and writing, but is very tough for being a gen ed teacher. This has been the hardest class ve taken so far, and I am so glad to have it out of the way. I ended up with one of the highest grades in my class with a C, and most of the class failed. Grading is strict, and he's not easy to work with.

Consider this your warning and take this class with literally any other teacher. I can't believe how much I hated this class.

The most valuable thing Professor Gibson did was giving us a rubric and having us review our peers' writing. It pushed us outside our comfort zone. It also challenged us to think more objectively about writing, and learn how to give constructive criticism. I would like if the authors we read were less "this is the only way to properly write X."

Gibson is an alright teacher. He's not very good at commanding a discussion and hopes the students will pick up the slack. Really strict on attendance. Grades strangely, and doesn't explain why things lose points very well. Not very clear on expectations, and just refers to the assignments when students ask clarifying questions. Shows clear biases.

Mr. Gibson is really passionate about English and Writing, however you have to ask questions and his classes are pretty student led, (Popcorn reading, small groups, writing workshops, etc.) This class was pretty hard for a 2000 level class and was alright but I won't be taking a class from Gibson again.

He was fine. His lectures were hard to understand at times. He's not very good at getting his point across or being clear on grading criteria.

He actually manages to make creative writing boring. I didn't think it was possible. Read the text book on your own, you will learn more that way.

Professor Gibson rocks. I was super hesitant to take his class after reading some reviews, but I'm pretty sure the bad reviews are just from bad students. Prof Gibson has helped me improve my writing skills significantly. I definitely recommend taking his classes. Especially if you enjoy dry humor

Steve is a really good professor. He cares about his students and wants everyone to be included. He doesn't ask a lot of his students, but obviously expects good work from you. If you like writing and reading and talking about it, you will enjoy his classes. I think some of the bad reviews come from students not interested in that work ethic.

Creative writing is my passion; there are no words to describe how much I love creative writing. I have never once in my entire education disliked an English class, let alone a creative writing class, but I guess there's a first time for everything. This professor was so terrible her made me dislike a creative writing class for the first time ever.

You can tell that this professor got burned out years ago and is now just counting down the seconds until his retirement. This class was so uninteresting, and the professor would hardly ever teach; he'd just make you get in groups every day. This class has sucked my creative writing passion away, and I feel that my time has been wasted.
