Great guy, effective, helpful, approachable, worldly and fun -- totally engaging course, recommend this guy to everyone
EXCELLENT Professor. Can't speak highly enough.
Good professor, he gave us a lot of good praise and advice.
toughest course I took at neu so far and should be the standard. guy is tough but works with you to understand - final presentations were an amazing experience --look for this guy and take him
professor goldens classes are inspirational and fun but dont be fooled, he is a tough businessman. this class is like shark tank and the final presentations and grade were harder than anticipated you need to pay attention and dont let his humor in class fool you as the grading is tough you need to do the work and pick your team well
Professor Golden, is a great teacher and a great guy. His encouragement and help allowed us to explore ourselves as individuals and entrepreneurs. His Experience and his practical way of teaching is the one i loved the most... that has been the most effective of any professor I have had. Good Grasp in lecture. good data analysis.
Best professor at Northeastern so far. Hands on, relative and animated. Sometimes can push hard but by the end of class it all comes together. I will take him again. Northeastern should use him as a baseline for teaching. And he is a good guy, very approachable. Not sure what else he is teaching.
amazing. course is lean design and this guy takes you through the entire process of launching a product - without a doubt, my favorite and most real-world educational class I've taken to date. final presentations to buyers from staples, brookstoen and tj max - tough grader, but fair and willing to help - his class is always full but try to take him
prof goden always wants the students to challenge their thinking. first time i have had such a professor. he is really different in the way he teaches but when the course was over it is the first time i wanted to keep going to his class. he always is meeting with students and helping them. i am trying to find more of his classes
He's awesome and passionate. It was my only class for business that I actually enjoyed & learned from. He's motto is "break the rules/show up to work like you're going to get fired". He was the only "real" teacher I had the pleasure of interacting with at Northeastern. He doesn't like cookie-cutter, and neither do I!
Awesome guy and a great professor, classes are fun. Would definitely recommend to a friend
Professor Golden is really a nice guys, he works hard to make the class interesting and listens to the students when they need help/support. Take his classes if you want to work hard and be rewarded for it. There is no simple task but a lot of good conversation that will make you smarter.
took this course for ent and goldin over delivers - just finished our final presentations today and he had us present to people from staples brookstone eastern bank and others. not easy course, but best at neu by far. prof works with you all the way, but gets on people if you slack. all team work but teams were too big -- love this prof take him
Professor Golden is amazing - real world teaching, best class that I have taken at Northeastern. Lots of group work which can be a challenge at times, but in the end the projects and rpresentaions for your final pulls it all together. I actually think that I learned something in this class. Class is hard to get into but if you can take him -
Professor Golden is easily my favorite teacher that I had a Northeastern. I have nothing to say but praise about his availability out of class, his mentoring capabilities when approached about things outside of class, his deep knowledge of the material, and his love and dedication for his students.
This guy is so awesome. Focused on real world applications, not just about getting good test grades
One of the best professors I've had in my college experience! He really cares about his students and is always available to chat about absolutely anything! Whether it is related to his class or about any topic that crosses your mind. His energy in class motivates you to do your best and going to class is definitely a pleasure!
Golden in 3330 was the best class i have taken in all my classes. the prof makes sense, pushes you to participate, and makes you think on your feet. this class was my last one at neu and what a way to close out this round of education. I am thinking about coming back to take him again -- hopefully I return as a success so I can "make him proud"
Golden is crazy in a good way. He's in love with innovation and he's always willing to talk about the latest developments in the business world. However this can often distract from his planned lectures, which is fine until you realize that he never explained the group project reqs. Hard grader, the midterm was absolutely ridiculous.
3330 is the hardest class that i have taken at northeastern and the one that i learned the most - golden lives for innovation and it shows - forces you to do the work and in the end you realize what he has helped you do. Always available for help outside class. taken him twice, wish he taught more classes - all professors should teach like him
tough but very smart , tough grader - says dont worry about it but make sure you pay attention
Goldens by far the best prof at neu. this course is so hands on and by far was the best I had at neu. You use all your skills and actually get to build a product and present to professionals at the end - recommend that everyone takes this course if you are thinking at all about going into business on your own -- the best!
Steve is your typical business professor - he isn't always clear with what he wants from his students but you learn how to get good grades with him as you go along. He'll give good feedback but can be a bit tough and honest with it. Other than that, it's definitely one of those "character building" classes.
Amazing professor. Super funny and is an amazing resource during and after the class. The class is based around one group project, and you learn so much from it.
Prof Golden is very funny and accessible You learn so much in his class Amazing semester He brought us all to Connor's for the last class
all group work, and difficult course. A fair amount of work, but the final presentation today was likely the best experience I have had in school. I learned more in this class this semester than in my first three years. Prof Golden likes to push you and at the beginning I almost dropped it, but glad I ddnt. Genuine guy that loves what he does
professor golden is just a great guy and likely the best that I have met during my time at neu - willing to spend time in and out of class, always available - taken him twice and would take him again if I could - admittedly I was struggling early on, he saw it and stepped up. 2301 and 3330 are the best ent courses offered, take golden
good guy, practical lectures that make sense, interactive and likes to engage students, tough grader at times but fair and explains rationale even though you might not agree at times but makes you think differently
prof golden is by far the best professor that I have had at northeastern
3330 is by far the best class that I have ever taken at either of the two universities that I have attended. I met some great new friends in this class and we have decided to carry our team project forward (minus one student). This class is all about how you take and idea and create a real business. Golding is a great coach and is always availa
Best professor yet, sometimes a bit challenging to keep up with, highly recommend golden for innovation -- i am also planning on taking his other classes - hit him up, good guy outside of class too
took this class lean product design two semesters ago and while I at times didn't agree with prof golden at the time, I am now working in a start-up, and boy was he right -- take this class - Prof Golden teaches the way we should learn, reflecting now, probably the best class I had at NEU - go Huskies, and keep it up Mr Golden
best course yet at neu. PRof Stephen Golden teaches this class in a way that will make you understand what you don't know (what other professors forget to help you learn). The final presentations last week were amazing. The prof had us present to professionals from staples wayfair and tjmax and they provided honest feedback. Prof G is a mentor
amazing professor and person - take him
I really enjoyed this class! I liked how it was very hands-on, engaging and consisting of a pot of different assignments. I probably would have liked to have a bit more case studies or more experiences of the professor. I would recommend doing that instead of the Bridge Building competition, which I found useless. I would also change the textbook,
Best professor I've ever had. He is an extremely passionate professor and I would recommend him to everyone I know.
Very funny and approachable. Certainly the most casual professor I've had. Treats students as his equals and challenges students to defend their point of view.
He is a really nice professor with lots of real world experience. You have to put effort into the assignments. Its not an easy A class and a lot of people think it is.
Lectures are casual and interesting and he has a lot of great experience, but really not as great as everyone thinks. Grading system is very skewed towards group project
Have to put this out there. five years as a husky, no professor comes close to this guy. i am a bio-med major and took this course on advice of a friend and this guy is amazing. approachable, friendly, truely cares about students - my team messed up a presentation bad, this guy pulled us aside and helped us bring up our grade. Awesome man.
Overall, Professor Golden is a great teacher and made class time both interactive and enjoyable. The material and assignments weremore hands-on than any other class I've had, and made my learning much more comprehensive and interesting. However, in terms of grading, I believe too much weight was given to the group project, which accounts for half
wish I could take him again. some people say that he is hard, but it is all about committment - work hard and you will want him for all your classes. Only complain t is the amount of the grade based on group work especially if you have people that are just in to get course credits but that happens everywhere. Prof is genuine
Professor Golden's teaching abilities are beyond words. He is charismatic, experienced, and extremely skilled in conveying ideas through story telling, such that every topic is engaging, important, and easy to remember. Golden's life and entrepreneurial experience truly comes across in his lectures, and it is clear that he knows what he is talking
Professor Golden is one of the most unique and distinguished professors - he helps you think non linearly, in a 360 degree perspective.
by far the best class I have had yet - much different than expected. might change my major as a result of his enthusiasm, help and encouragement
took him for summer session and thought that by far he is just one of the most amazing people that I have had the pleasure of meeting. Key takeaway for me from this class was (1) think big, (2) think smart, (3) work hard and (4) don't fall in love with the baby. prof Golden really helped me make sense of it all. Great, fun, inspirational guy
not easy, just awesome. a really genuine guy who cares but don't try to skip assignments, grades tough. approachable and funny. knows his stuff and works hard to bring it out of students. some people can find him a bit tough and pushy but when I finished the course I realized his method. I like him and recommend him.
Professor Golden is one of the best professor one could have. Taking classes with him was an amazing experience.
goldin is the best professor I have had in my four years at northeastern so far big on team projects and presentations which can be annoying at times with some students but in general makes sense grading can be tough but he is reasonable and willing to help
He is great professor who is willing to help students answer every questions. He really cares about students.
real deal clear direction tough but if you follow his instructions and ask for help he works with students he will call you out if you are no paarticipating can be embarrasing like him a lot wihs he taught more sections
Stephen Golden is the best teacher I've had at NEU. He is so inspiring, intelligent, and funny . He makes everything in class so interesting to learn and very obviously understand everything from real life experience. If you take Innovation!, you have to take it with him.
Professor Golden is very passionate about entrepreneurship. He has a lot of experience to offer and there is never a dull moment in his class! I wish, however, that he was more communicative about assignment due dates and what was expected.
This is withoutquestion the best course and professor I have had. Although it feels like a lot of tedious work, it is really up to you to take advantage of it. If you put in the time and effort on what may seem tedious, it will all make sense in the end. Especially when you choose your project, make sure everyone on the team is on board.
By far the best professor I've ever had. I never thought I would ever be saying this but I always looked forward to go to his class. He gives great feedback, he has great experience in the world, and he is extremely funny. Definitely recommend
skip the textbook wasn't as helpful and useful as actual class discussions and activities. Great interactive class, one of the best prof I've had during my time at Neu. The only issue I can argue is the toughness while giving essay's grades.
Mr Golden is not easy by any means, but he is very approachable and willing to help outside of class. The course materials are interesting and flow well. Sometimes he goes fast and skips things but if you ask he will go back. His explanations are comprehensive and relative. He is very experienced and different than other professors in that his
Pay attention to details. Golden is one of the most engaging and caring professors that I have had in my fours years @ NEU. I was part of the Seattle edition of the product development course and wish that I could do it again (this encouraged me to sign up for the Silicon Valley prog). Teams are important, address issues up front. Details #1.
Nice person, interesting but at times can wander in his lectures which don't always follow the syllabus. Certainly engaging and relevant subjects and he certainly has a passion for innovation. Might be the best professor I have had but can at times be challenging if you expect to follow the syllabus
SO MUCH WORK
NEU Shark Tank - this is by far the most comprehensive, pressure-packed course that I have taken during my five years at Northeastern. This should be a capstone course. Golden is fun, challenging and pushes you hard and it heavy team centric but if you are going to do your own business, take him. I love this prof
Terrible clarity with grading policies and a ton of work throughout the semester. Good lecturer tho
Golden was energetic but his projects were vague. Teams would lose most points because of APA citations and not the actual substance of their projects. He also possessed a lack of humility when it came to student-teacher interactions. There were rare occasions when he would admit to grading errors. Kudos for the alternative midterm, however.
got to do the work to get the grade guy is dope always willing to work with you and a really good person that cares - took the class outit after finals
prof gouldin is heavy on team projects so make sure you get on a good team, he is great meetin outside of clas and is very responsive to requests for help. He should be a chairman for the department and all courses should be like his. I am planning to take his second class and highly recommend him as a professor
do the work get the grade I rarely take the time to post to these things but this guys deserves some nice words. He is an amazing lecturer, cares about the students, shows respective and will meet with you any time, I heard he bought pizza for one class and took another out to celebrate finals. My only gripe is the amount of work- just do it
i don't usualy do these but this professor deserves some words . he is tough but he is one of the few professors that cares. Golden reached out to one of his contacts for me and helped me land a coop. As others have said, he puts the work out their but he is there to help, always, and his sht is real - not like most of the other stuff profess
I just completed this in Seattle. It was a 2 week dialog. Professor Golden is one of the most amazing and compassionate people that I have met in my time at Northeastern . The course is a lot of work but I have learned more in this experience than any other class. Be ready to work as a team and the down side is he picks the teams. But he is
take him if you can
Steve was a great prof, definitely an easy B. The group project is definitely a lot of work and your teams quality will impact your experience. The midterm is a crapshoot, as some questions are gotcha questions, but overall the class is really interesting and you learn a ton. It also helps Steve has tons of experience and is super fun.
I had Golden on the Seattle Dialogue (most impactful educational experience). When he told us to relax during stressful times, it was his way of letting us know that all things will pass. Important Note: he wants you to have fun and work things through with your group mates rather than leaving things left unsaid. It is a safe zone to fail often.
Professor Golden was hands down the best professor I have ever had at northeastern. His teaching style is inspirational and very different from everyone else. He doesn't teach you to get good grades, instead, he teaches you on how to be successful in life!
I would definitely recommend taking this class with Professor Golden! The class itself if interesting. There are a couple of homework assignments. However, they are not too difficult. The group assignments are fun and you create your own product. The class really inspired me and allowed me to come up with a few business ideas of my own!
The best professor at Northeastern. I took his class in summer, so each lecture was around 3 hours, but time would pass so quickly, as his lectures were very fun and interesting. He really wants his students to think outside of the box, it's one of the classes where you learn essential skills that could be applied in real life.
don't take this class. he will choose a group for you, and if you don't have a good group, IMPOSSIBLE to succeed because the entire grade is based in one giant project. too much work and the grade criteria is not clear. you will have to build a final prototype for this class, and you will have to beg for help in order to get this done.
Professor Golden is more "Northeastern" than Northeastern, his course on prototyping is experiential learning to the max. The course isn't easy, but the course prioritizes learning experiences above grades. If your goal is to one day be an entrepreneur, take the opportunity to learn from someone as experienced and talented as Professor Golden.
Prof Golden is one of the best professors Ive had at Northeastern. He is a tough grader, but if you put the work in he will take care of you. Take his deadlines seriously or your product wont be ready for the panel at the end of the semester. Highly recommend him as a professor. Teaches from real life experience, not from a textbook.
ENTR2301 was a course requirement for me so I went in thinking it would be a drag, but it was the complete opposite. Professor Golden runs you through the beginning stages of the entrepreneurship & innovation process, giving you the blueprint you need to begin execution of your ideas. Overall a really great professor and would recommend taking him.
This was probably one of the best classes I've taken at NEU. During the course you and your team make a LEGIT product, so it really is a lot of work. However, the grading is very fair and Golden always gives good feedback/critique. This was really a no BS class that gets you one foot in the world of product development & design.
Great Prof! Really enjoyed taking innovation with him! There is no final exam for the class and the mid-term is an interview with an entrepreneur. Would definitely recommend taking this class.
Prof Golden is great! He really prepares you to use the MOSIAC organizations on campus and take your learning beyond class to start your own small business if you want. Super helpful! Super available! I took as a summer online dialogue, but lots of VERY speakers and super helpful feedback. Teaches from experience! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF YOU CAN!
Fantastic professor! Amazing and super helpful! Definitely to take his class!! A big treasure!
I just took professor Golden for a 2 week dialogue that turned onine due to Coronavirus (so yeah this review is from 2020... weird times huh). He has been by far in my 2 years at Northeastern so far the most inspirational and effective teacher. He adapted amazingly to the online situation and brought very respected speakers in *linkedIn Boost* ;)
Professor Golden is one of the best professors I have ever taken. His dedication to teaching us the material is like no professor I have ever seen. He is willing to go the extra mile in and out of class to ensure that you understand the information and its importance to you. For anyone considering taking his class, stop thinking and sign up now.
One of the best professors I have ever had. His dedication to teaching us the material is like no professor I have ever seen. He is willing to go the extra mile in and out of class to ensure that you understand the information and its importance to you. For anyone considering taking his class, stop thinking and just sign up now.
You definitely have to work hard in this class, but Prof Golden is a great professor and all around person. He really inspires and motivates his students, and is available for help and feedback when your group needs it.
He's probably the best entrepreneurship professor, but the class in general was a waste of time. The entire semester you work on a new idea and creating a business using it. Basically, every group made out of mostly business majors just thought of some idea and said they would use artificial intelligence to solve it.
Ever sat down to play blackjack at a table where the dealer silently decides that the new max number is 11 and you have to count backwards from 10 before you draw a card? If you did, you would understand what taking a class from Prof. Golden is like. Prepare yourself for a series of invented problems that you can only solve by reading minds.
Great Professor and one of a kind business mentor. Take his class if you want to be challenged and inspired.
the whole class is based on the group project, where you come up with a product and go through the lean design process. I took Innovation! with him on-campus and it was a great experience. I can't say the same about the online Lean Design. Assignment instructions were very unclear and vague. Be prepared to go hunting for grading rubrics/guidelines.
This professor was an absolute pleasure to have for the semester. He brings a great level of energy to the classroom which is necessary for an entrepreneurial class, a characteristic that is a rare find. He really took advantage of the online learning by bringing in fantastic professionals to guest speak to us. Great professor, highly recommended.
Definitely one of my favorite professors at Northeastern. Prof Golden is always ready to teach. He devotes a great level of energy to class and always inspires his students. The feedback he provides is solid and detailed. I had lots of takeaways and would recommend taking his class!
Great professor that will go out of his way to help you out. Gives very useful constructive feedback.
Prof is very knowledgeable but he does not care about his students/this class at all, and his use of peer evaluations is extremely unfair and is just a way to lower students' grades so he doesn't have to think of a way to do it himself.
He always encourages students to explore our horizons, solving the problems existed in business, and creates innovations to make peoples lives better.
One of the best professors I've taken at NEU - super engaging class, funny, and really encouraging. It's hard not to do well in this class and along the way, you learn a lot about entrepreneurship and business. Has excellent connections and brings in great guest speakers.
Prof. Golden is a delight. ENTR2301 and ENTR3303 are both great courses. Prof. Golden pushes his students to succeed, his classes do require a good amount of effort. But all the effort is worth it. These are fantastic classes, and this is a great professor. You will learn a lot and have a great time.
Nice guy, but on day one he says, "most of you will not get As". 2301 is almost entirely weighted on the group project and as the only freshman in my group, I found it hard to be heard despite trying. Got an 89.4 final and he was quite rude when I asked if he'd consider moving it up.
golden is solid, what you come to northeastern for .. tough grader, but open to discuss, very helpful outside of class
worth taking the 8am course - always energized and funny - brings the content to life with personal stories - I was nervous at first because he calls on you a lot but is kind and engaging. Will take again.
Prof Golden is funny and intellectual, but annoying. Most assignments are 1 point. The final exam, which he never stressed, was worth 25 points. Set no expectations, vague rubrics, tough grader. This class was more stressful than it needed to be. I wouldn't take another class with him again.
professor golden really knows his material and shares real examples that are releavant and interesting. he is a tough grader but fair. my team explained a misunderstanding and he changed our grade. there is a lot of work in this class, but as a rising junior, this has to be the best class I have taken and he is the best professor ever - solid
This is supposed to be an intro course. This class was the best that I have taken at Northeastern in my four years here. The load might be heavy for an intro course but it all makes sense in the end. A lot to read but his lectures are so real world, it makes going to class at 8am worthwhile. Amazing energy. Lots of assignments and team project
You should know that this class is A LOT OF WORK. I think they changed the curriculum in the department cuz everyone was getting As but by just adding more things (exam, group projects, readings, etc), the class didnt get harder, but more unpleasant and less fun. Prof is great tho, even if he says that hes not an academic (he is).
Professor Golden is a great person, but sometimes his teaching mechanisms can be ineffective despite the lectures themselves being entertaining. He can be a strict/harsh grader on team presentations so make sure that you really follow the explicit rubric he gives you for them and do well on the one test (final) worth 25% of the grade.
I wish all professors could template his style of teaching. Best instructor that I have had in four years of education. Fun, interesting, contemporary, relevant, and beyond approachable. Seems like he is always available, at all hours. Sometimes he is straight up with his opinions but its refreshing to have a professor be so honest and real.
Easy workload and he is a good lecturer but he has a really frustrating sense of humor. He uses a lot of group exercises which aren't the most fun and gets upset when we don't enjoy them. I guess he just forgets we are 20+ and not children. He is a good teacher but ehh as a person. Not a bad professor just not for me.
I took this class as an undecided freshman. This class was my favorite course in the 2 semesters I've been here. It helped me choose my business major with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. Prof Golden is extremely helpful and receptive to other people's ideas and has a genuine interest in your ideation process.
Honestly, the best professor at Northeastern University. He is so good. He makes his lectures very interesting and teaches up to the point. Has only one exam that too in the middle of the semester- so the finals week is chill. If you really wanna learn and understand what innovation is, TAKE HIM.
Wow. My last year and I had to take innovation and got Goldin. Amazing, Professor is all about the experience both academically and practically. His ancedotes put learning in perspective. I cannot recommend this guy enough. I only wish that I had taken him sooner and I probably would have changed majors. Always available to talk
Professor Goldin is one of the kindest professors I have had during my time at Northeastern. On top of being extremely knowledgeable about entrepreneurship, he offers valuable advice on life during his team meetings and even outside class. This class was the most hands on, challenging courses I have taken but he made it worthwhile and fun.
Professor Golden clearly cares about his students and is very passionate about the material. He is very experienced in the subject matter and intertwines his lectures with his personal experiences in the industry. If you are lucky enough to have him, pay attention and ask questions as he will give thoughtful and helpful answers. Best class and prof
In five years at NEU this was the first time that I regretted the end of the semester. As others have said, his lectures are inspiring and helpful. He is not only approachable, but he actually reached out to me several times just to check in after I indicated confusion. Best professor ever. I only wish I could take him again.
He is hands down the best professor I have had at Northeastern so far. Take him if you want to learn.
This is my second course with Golden and I am glad that I chose to take this prototype course. Prototyping is a 100% hands on experience class where you larn how to work with a team (real challenge) to come up with a problem and build a solution. I liked working with Mass College of Artists students and in their makerspace. Take this course
Stephan Golden teaches this course with his heart and passion. I heard that he was good, but he exceeded my expectations. Blows my engineering classes away. If you can, take him. Best class in my three years here. We love you Professor Golden, you smoked it.
Although this professor is great in many respects, his grading style is very, very stringent. If you put in the right amount of time, you could do well, but it seems as though the professor expects everyone to know how to write case studies. Also, in my whole semester, I have never met the TA.
He is a very special professor, it was a enjoying but strange experience having his class
Amazing classes, the only 8 am class that I have ever looked forward to. There is a fair amount of work involved and your grade is heavily weighted toward team participation (you don't get to pick your team) so that can be a challenge. Fortunately I had an amazing team and now we have come good friends. This is the best class I have ever taken
Golden is hilarious. He's entertaining and clearly a very intelligent person. That being said, get ready to work in Innovation! Nearly your entire grade will be determined by your group and the grading criteria is very convoluted. This is a guy I would get a beer with, not take a class from. If you want to learn, take something else
do the work and get the grade. was by far the most inspirational, caring, and passionate professor that I have had at Northeastern. He is a serial entrepreneur with lots of personal stories that help you assimilate the content of the material. Fair enough there is a large number of assignments, but they are align well
Often ambiguous and unclear about grading/expectations. It was impossible to understand how hard to try to please him, and overall, much of the grading was confusing and subjective. Still, he was nice and his lectures were mostly engaging.
Thank you for being a professor that genuinely cares about your students. I learned so much throughout this course through your engaging lectures and the hands-on activities we do daily. I have enjoyed participating in the innovation process with my team and have learned how to collaborate better with others. I hope to have you again.
Professor Golden is incredibly engaging. It's evident he cares a lot about his students and subject matter. Don't take this class if you want easy grades. Stay on top of readings and assignments and you'll be fine, but be prepared to work really hard if you want to do well. Done right, you will learn and grow a lot throughout the semester.
I took Professor Golden for innovation and then was offered a TA role for the class. I graduated in December and I must say that he is the most genuine, caring, compassionate professionals that I have ever met or worked with. He really cares about students success. If you did poorly, I can tell you, you deserved it.
One of the best classes that I took at Northeastern. I cannot say it was easy and at times I was overwhelmed and confused, but by the end of the semester, it all came together and I felt good. This is project based course with reliance on your team, so make sure that the team is accountable. The final presentation was awesome.
This class was one of my favorites at neu, and Professor Golden has been teaching it how I learn best by using real-world examples and activities to help us apply the principles we are learning in class rather than just reading off slides. No question that there was a fair amount of work, but he tells you precisely what is expected
Not an easy A professor, but I'm sure you'll enjoy the lecture and really learn important values. Must say you'll need a bit of luck getting a good teammates, cuz you'll be working with your team the entire semester.
Professor knew how to get us to achieve exceptional results. We worked with students from other colleges and learned interdisciplinary skills not taught in my other classes. I felt like I had accomplished something when I finished finals. The final presentation was surreal. High recommend this course
Professor Golden was my favorite professor at Northeastern. Teaching entrepreneurship is second nature for him because of his extensive experience in the field. He has so much knowledge to share and I absolutely feel like I gained more from his lectures than most other classes. He's always happy to discuss projects, ideas, and questions.
"Studying" entrepreneurship is hard, but Professor Golden makes sure he makes the lessons as engaging as possible by talking about his personal experiences. There's a lot you'll learn in this class that will help you if you're applying to VCs, even if you're not involved with entrepreneurship-based organisations on campus too. Best class ever!
Prof. Golden was very enthusiastic and had a lot of practical knowledge to share. He was a great teacher! It was the class I learned the most in. He makes learning easy and makes you curious by incorporating creative activities in lectures. Everything is so applicable.
I thought he did a great job teaching the material overall and showed a lot of enthusiasm for the course. While there was a fair amount of work for the class it is doable. He was very responsive too, and gave a lot of good feedback. Some complain that he may be a tough grader but I found that he was more than fair.
His lectures were so exciting and thus made me more intrigued to learn. His passion for entrepreneurship shone through each session, and I am grateful to have been part of this class. I would also like to acknowledge his effort in providing us with valuable resources, thought-provoking assignments, and timely feedback.
Grades and judges students under very unreasonable expectations. Never makes it clear what he wants us to do in assignments then gets mad at us for trying to talk to him and clarify it. Most classes he seems like he hates teaching or just doesn't teach at all and belittles students simply for asking clarifying questions.
He's made it more than clear that he wants to retire and is dissatisfied with his work, and it shows. You'll definitely be able to pass this class with a C or higher, but there's no easy A. He gives meaningless feedback until it's time to actually grade your work -- except accompanied by the long-awaited necessary feedback is docked points.
This is my last semester at Northeastern and I am truly glad that I took this class as my capstone. Crazy fast paced course and he can be brutely honest in his feedback, It was the one class that I had a professor who really cared, not a robot. I love how he relates the material to his personal experiences. I wish that I had taken him earlier.
Clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about entrepreneurship. His excitement definitely rubs off on students. Very fair grader and clearly states what I required of students. No surprises with grades. Used class time effectively. Usually only spend 50-60 minutes of a 1 hour and 40 minute class, gave us the balance to work on projects
Weird guy. Sometimes mean, sometimes nice. Cannot organize canvas for his life, you're gonna be scurrying tyring to find how to do your assignments. But very fair grader. Do exactly what the rubric says and you've got a guaranteed A. Last, pray you get a good team cause you're stuck together all semester.
Must love teams and get a good one to do well. Tough but reasonable grades. No BS, great job realting his real world experiences. I will always remember the RC Car story. First real professor I had at Northeastern - not a robot like the others.
One of the best classes I have taken! The professor did an amazing job of guiding us through the complex journey of being an entrepreneur, giving thorough insights, project tasks, and overall advice that can translate to growth in a wide array of career paths and industries.
This class should be a capstone course for business. It was more work outside of class than expected and a whirlwind, but it all came together. I built the best relationships with my team, and the class work was incredibly applicable both to the course but also to my life goals. Working with engineers was eye-opening for a phylosophy major.
Fair grader and outlines what he is looking for in his rubrics. Your grade is extremely dependent on having a good team. A majority will be done outside of class, as much of the actual lecture is analyzing videos and learning to think like an innovator. Word of advice to not leave his case reports to the last minute, they really sneak up on you.
I took this class as an elective but I was blown away by Professor Golden. Probably the most enriching class I have ever taken at Northeastern. He has loads of credible experience with what he is teaching and incorporates what he has learned along the way into the lectures. Extremely fair grader and helps with public speaking! Would 100% take again
Golden is just a good guy who cares about us. If you can, take him. He will take you on a ride that you won't want to get off. He is the best professor ever (I matriculated at Northeastern). A fair amount of work, but his expectations are clear. And he is an extremely fair grader. Love him.
Thank you, Professor Golden. Amazing, delightful course. Group work dominates and a fair amount of work outside of class. But a great learning experience as my introduction to entrepreneurship.
The class was very engaging and fun, and I was able to learn a lot of real-world applications, as the course kind of promises to do. Professor Golden always made this class very fun! Notably, the classbenefi tted from Professor Golden's industry experience and matter-of-fact approach to teaching. I learned a lot in this class.
A legend. I am glad to have had the opportunity to take this class in my final semester. Golden has an incredible understanding of the innovation process and more importantly, he knows how to share that wisdom in a kind but encouraging method.
Wanted to take him in-person but settled for online expecting to be disappointed. Course material was amazing, readable, interesting and well structured. Unlike other online classes I have taken, he includes several live sessions and takes appointments. Definately need the right team to make this work. "Follow the rubric"! Great course. Take him
Professor Golden is the epitome of a masterful instructor, someone every student should aspire to emulate. While he can be demanding and occasionally confrontational, he consistently delivers in every class. Follow his guidance, and you'll thrive. I highly recommend him for any cornerstone business course.
Prof. Golden's class was engaging and fun. His industry experience shines through, and he makes entrepreneurship super interesting. Unstuck study was a big help for prepping. Reasonable grader if you put in the work.
Professor Golden is a gem! He has a world of knowledge about entrepreneurship, but he doesn't show off like some other professors do. Instead, he uses his experience to give honest, relevant, and engaging lectures. The group project is weighted heavily and you'll be working with the same people all semester, so get to know them well!!
He does not give clear feedback or instructions and doesn't return to the emails. He is very enthusiastic with what he is teaching, but sometimes weird, and Canvas is a mess. If you want clear feedback you won't be able to get any.
It's the best class ever at Northeastern. Pulled everything together from all my other classes. Approachable, friendly, and funny. Participation matters a lot, and I get to know him. Clear instructions but tough grader. This course was much more intensive than I expected.
Great professor, should do fine if you follow the rubric and instructions. Cares about his students, class was very engaging. Would definitely recommend taking his class again.
Do not let the ratings fool you, he is an ok guy. He did grade quickly, but I am still not sure what my grade is. The group project is good if you have a nice group of people, I did not. I recommend getting to know him, he likes that and you will get better feedback. This class is not horrible, but it also was not my best experience.
Solid professor. Follow his rubric, come to class, and participate. You will do fine, he is a reasonable grader. He tends to cold call a lot, but it works once you get used to it. He cares about students and greets you by name in each class. Don't be late. That bothers him regardless of the cause! He is very approachable and fun.
Liked him a lot. Honest and fair grader.
This was one of my favorite courses at Northeastern and he is a great professor. You can tell how knowledgeable he is in the course material by how well he can teach and explain it. The lectures were interesting, enriching, and engaging. The professor always encouraged our participation. MAybe a little too much reading, get on a good team!
Memorable: circles exercise, making spaghetti, einstein, choosing dinner, mix-ups, and fabulous life stories. Get a good group or make a good group. Lots of reading, tough on grading.
Absolutely amazing guy, would definitely take it again. Down to earth, he isn't fake, which is relieving. Has the life experiences to back his points/lessons, which I think every professor should have yet so many don't.
He is passionate about entrepreneurship, but he is really rude sometimes. He grades EXACTLY based off of rubrics and can be really harsh. The high score for our presentations were a 9/10 with an average of 8/10. He doesn't care to learn your name and will call you out if you are even a minute late.
Lectures aren't boring, you really learn a lot. If you closely follow the rubrics for the case studies, presentations and discussions boards you will get 100 or close to that. 3 group presentations that are graded on the powerpoint slides you submit to him, not the actual presentation. final exam only worth 10% of final grade, no midterm. Fun Class

Best course and professor ever. Course flows nicely, he is informative and passionate. The rc car story brings the entire course together. Tough to get in his class but if you can, do it! PS. he is big on teams so make sure that you have a good team.
Used class time eff ectively, rubrics were clear for presentations so we knew exactly what was expected of us, also let us knowwhen a certain concept came up that would appear on fi nal exam.
The team based environment of the course is defi nitely the strongest point. It helps build connections and teamwork skills thatcan be used a bit in the future. The weekly guest speakers were also very insightful.
The strengths of Professor Golden's Innovation class are that he is very enthusiastic to teach it- He wants to make sure groups have what they need to succeed, and has identified that business classes can be boring. The class is very group-work based and has a lot of real-world preparation.
This class was online async. Extremely group project heavy. Multiple required meetings throughout the semester. The course content is straightforward and all individual assignments are essentially busywork. The canvas is fairly disorganized and assignments instructions can be unclear. Prof. Golden himself is very enthusiastic and responsive.
This is long overdue—Golden's Lean Design course in 2023 was the best class I took at Northeastern. I'm now a software engineer and still hear his voice when I hit roadblocks: “What would Golden do?” His clear, no-nonsense advice shaped how I work today. Take his class, listen, and learn. Thanks, Professor!
I've looked through a lot of the reviews, and I think many people really enjoyed their time in his class. I agree he is enthusiastic and authentic, which allows you to take a lot from the class. However, he is also a harsh and inconsistent grader. It can also be difficult to ask him questions.
