Dr.Groff is a nice man, but a HORRIBLE teacher. This is coming from someone who takes pride in grades. I believe things should be done right. He is not clear at all. Things will appear on tests that were not covered in class. This happens on every test. He tells you that you don't have to read the book, but you do. Nice guy, but not a good teacher.

I didn't open the textbook. Any information that needed to be looked up outside of class could be done through Google. Groff is super nice. He always responds to emails and his lectures were always interesting. He even brought in a few guest speakers. He only counts test grades, but the tests are super easy and he always gave extra credit. I would definitely take another of his classes.

Dr. Groff is one of my favorite professors. He really cares about his students and focuses on general ideas instead of minute details. Grades were determined by 3 tests and a final exam, with participation grades here and there. Overall great prof and great dude!

Dr. Groff is super nice and understanding! As long as you go to class, do the (few) assignments, and participate you'll do fine. He gives so many opportunities for extra credit, and if you need them he usually makes accommodations. I will say his lectures are completely verbal (no ppt or anything) but I find them concise and easy to follow.

Dr. Groff is a super great guy! He's pretty funny and his class is very relaxed. You'll do fine if you show up to class. The only issues are that he's pretty disorganized and the material isn't taught super thoroughly. I'd suggest a more rigorous section if you're a psych major. If you're just getting the credit, I highly recommend Dr. Groff!

Professor Groff is a super nice guy. He does a great job of keeping the class interested. I will say that sometimes it felt like we weren't learning much, but looking back at the class, I feel that I learned a lot. His tests are super easy and graded with an immense curve. He also frequently incorporates super easy group projects.

Professor Groff is a really interesting guy with a lot of real world experience in psychology. The material can be a little boring but he has a lot of great stories to keep it entertaining. He also brings in a lot of really cool people to talk to the class. Highly recommend.

AMAZING Professor! Dr. Groff keeps class fun and interesting. He is a really cool person himself too!! His lectures are very straightforward and you will never be confused about what material you are being tested on. If you come to class you can definitely get an A! I highly recommend Dr. Groff-no doubt about it!!!

If you are a psych major I would not take this class. Professor Groff is very nice but test prep is not clear and he gets distracted pretty easily. Majority of the work you will do in the class will not go towards your grade. Guest speakers will come but won't have a lot to do with the class. Great guy but a wild card professor.

Dr. Groff is great! Gives a ton of extra credit and as long as you go to class he'll literally tell you exactly what will be on the exam word for word, you don't need to study much to do well. Offers a ton of extra credit. Had him for an hour and 15 min class and he never went over 55 mins or an hour which was nice!

Dr. Groff is genuine and kind. He is very engaging and class participation is fun. There are guest speakers, and you write a few page response on the speakers. He tells you what will be on the exam, and if you go to class, you will definitely do well.

Dr. Groff is absolutely amazing. Although lectures were admittedly all over the place sometimes, he had a lot of really interesting stories from his time in the Army and working at the VA. He always made it very clear what was necessary to know for tests and will basically give you answers during tests if you ask. Highly recommended.

I took Dr. Groff for PY 105. He was a superb professor who genuinely cares for his students. I am not sure he knows how to use Blackboard and is on the older side, and you have to email him to ask for your grade, but seriously it's worth it. Asked after my wellbeing every time I saw him; understands issues arise. Go to lecture and you'll be fine.

Had my bike stolen at the beginning of the year and he asked multiple times throughout the semester if it had been found/I'd gotten another. Had his 8 am class and it was worth it, which is saying a lot from me. He places a lot of emphasis on attendance, so you really can't miss more than a few classes w/o a valid excuse.

Odd man. Had this class at 8 am and it felt like a fever dream. There are like 3 classes the entire semester where you talk about psych. Most of the classes and assignments are about completely unrelated things that he will somehow try to tie back into psych. Bad class for psych majors. Exams are difficult if you dont intensely read the textbook

I adore this man, he's incredible, so funny, and truly cares about his students. I would recommend you take him for any class you possibly can. This is a senior seminar, and we only wrote one major paper and a few small ones, and gave a few low-stakes presentations. It was easy but more importantly he is a GEM and everyone should get to know him.

Dr. Groff is a very sweet man, but he really has no business teaching PY491 - we didn't even open the DSM the entire semester. He seems to think that this is a public speaking class so he just makes you do mini presentations. I didn't learn a single thing about psychology which was frustrating. However, this was super easy and almost 0 work.

This class was easy. The only assignments were tests and papers. Most of your grade comes from showing up to class and doing easy group work. His tests are easy, as he reviews them the class before. He will help if you have a question during the test. I would recommend if you're looking for an easy class, not if you want to learn about psychology.
