Worst teacher i have ever had! He can not teach for his life. He was a nice guy, but didnt explain anything he wrote on the board. Have fun teaching yourslef. Take my advice and DO NOT TAKE HIM! YOU WILL REGRET IT IN THE END, I PROMISE YOU.
He does not prepare lectures, meaning he will pull examples out of his head. Don't even bother taking notes... he makes so many mistakes that it'll give you a headache. this guy is horrible, had him for pre-calc, we never finished the syllabus & he said that if we were moving on to calc to learn the material over the break! he's sloppy his tests i think he gives like 8 questions tops. Buy youself a book that teaches you the material because he will not. Only got an A in course b/c of my highschool teachers.
this guy was nice and wanted to be very helpful but he was horrible! didnt explain the material well and expected students to know the material and if you didnt then you had to go home and figure it out.. it was very hard to keep up and not fall behind.. his tests sucked.. do not take his class if you want to learn ..

He is a horrible teacher. He is not clear when explaining a problem. It seems like he does not come prepared for class. He shows you problems that are not relevant to the class. Stay clear of him.

I took him for Math for Liberal Arts...HORRIBLE! I do not understand why he is teaching! They never put down his name on the course schedule so you will see TBA so if you walk into that room and see HERSHKORN! LEAVE! Drop the class. He is condescending. Doesn't use the $130 textbook. He doesn't care to fail half the class.

worst teacher ever!! he goes so fast because all he cares about is the syllabus, and it's hard to keep up. 2 weeks before the final he taught new material rather than going over stuff for the final. he expects you to ask questions, but then gets mad when u do. also he sweats PROFUSELY and is really really creepy. don't take him!!

Perhaps one of the WORST professors you will ever find. Rude, filthy, and overall horrendous. Claims a low class average is not a reflection in his teaching. ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL.
I have him right now for the summer and sometimes teachers are a bit more lenient but with him...NOOOO!! quizzes everyday!! Lessons are rushed, gets aggravated when questions are asked or if you don't understand the material right away, doesn't explain every detail. HE'S HORRIBLE! the class even had to do math to find out our curves for our midterm
He is the worst prof. ever. In every class he gets corrected on his problems that he did wrong. He doesn't even look professional, don't even think he cares how he looks. He cant teach the students in class even gave up asking questions cause every time he answers them we still don't get it. If you get him switch out immediately.

Statistics isnt an easy subject, and this prof doesnt make it any better. He talks to you like a textbook, so its so hard to actually grasp the information. The midterms are hard. I Wouldn't recommend him unless you already know math.
GREAT PROFESSOR. Knows subject matter well, answers questions and fully explains details. Very considerate, is willing to stay long after class is over to help students.
If you are math genius you can take his class because you will find it challenging.He gives tricky exams with material much difficult comparing to what he teaches during the class.He jumps all over the book which was very confusing for me.If you are average at science don't take him because you will probably fail hard.
He was a nice guy, but I did not learn 1 thing from him, the D I got in his class was the hardest earned D I ever got and I thank God I got that D. Just to warn you when his class is on esims when you make your schedules they have his class say TBA until the last second just so people would take the class

If you want a good grade you're going to have to earn it. if you want an easy A this is not the place!! this isn't high school kiddos. i got an A- and it was very possible. not the greatest at explaining. more interested in calculus when im taking trig but very fair grader. curves like crazy!!quiz every Monday. easy midterm, easy final. recommended
dont take this professor, he is the worst professor in CSI. Give's a quiz every class and doesnt prapare you for the exam.
Fair grader. Definately need the textbook. answers questions and tries to help. Not a bad guy but you definately have to work for your grade. Gives homework. Tests not multiple choice but gives credit for showing work even if answer is wrong.
He does not teach clearly. You have to read every chapter. His exams have nothing to do with the review sheet. Takes 4 weeks to return your exam grade(literally)
He does not give a clear review of what is to be on the exam. He expects you to know everything and always says to the class that he will not waste time to review certain things because he expects the class to know it. He is more concerned about going ahead to the next level to keep up with the curriculum and does not care about his students.
herschkorn is HORRIBLE. Unless you are completely interested and good at math, this is not the teacher for you. He is unclear, a nervous wreck, and rude. Never answers questions and goes through the class without helping anyone. He acts as if everyone in the class is a mathematician. DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT take him if you want to pass statistics.
He shouldn't work in college. He doesn't explain anything. Nightmare don't take him and save yourself a time. I am great in math and I have A's with all my prof. With him I got D.
This professor is very confusing, even if you know what he's talking about you have to go to tutoring or watch youtube videos how to solve the problems. He will keep to in class till the very last second. If you are not good at math, DO NOT take him!!!
In my opinion he is a great teacher. He almost always takes attendance, so go to class. He explains the topics well and he gives many examples. His exams are not that difficult (In my opinion), the questions are similar from his review sheet. Sometimes he can be rude and inconsiderate, but if you respect him then he will respect you back.
Truthfully thought he was a terrible professor. Wouldnt recommend, he would put up a stem and leaf chart for our midterm grades and for both of them more then half the class failed them so i know it wasnt just me !
A great man but not a great professor. I love math and I found it very hard to be good at it this semester. He is not clear at all. He tends to throw a question on the board and solve it for you but not explain how and then expects you to understand how to do it. You'll need to go to tutoring to understand anything period. I don't recommend him.

This guy is the absolute worst. He doesn't know how to teach, he does problems on the board and skips a bunch of steps and does them in his head. skip this class, you won't pass. i went to tutoring and still failed the class. he's so rude and annoying too. he also expects you to know everything he's supposed to be teaching.

He doesn't give extra credit at all, he gave us back our first exam which was taken at the beginning of the semester, two weeks before the semester ended and then told us if we were failing or not. Horrible! Get ready to teach yourself calculus if you take this class. Focuses on theory way more than application. Does not explain/teach you how to apply theory.
Brilliant man. No complaints from me. His tests are quite challenging, but straight forward and correlate with the homework. He goes over hw questions in class, gives practice problems to work on solo, and gives practice exams as review sheets before midterm/final. People failing his class simply make no effort.
I thought he was just average; I didn't look forward to going to his class, but I didn't hate it either. He gives homeworks through WebAssign and they do help you understand the topics better. I like to think Im pretty good at math but if you aren't I can clearly see where the people giving 1/5 are coming from. Use the textbook if you need to.
He teaches from the textbook so he is very theorem based. He will solve the problems in his head in .2 secs and expects the class to know what he did. He spends a lot of time with a lesson that is unnecessary and not part of the curriculum, and then speeds through the actual curriculum which is not fair for the students. He makes the class awful.
Ive never taken such a hard class in my life. I have a 3.98 GPA and Im a straight A student, but this professor is horrible and im failing SO badly. He goes way too fast for the class and he expects you to know everything before he teaches it. Hes a horrible professor and Im warning you: DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
This professor conveys the material extremely poorly. He skips steps and insults the intelligence of his students. Refuses to go over mandatory steps to a problem due to his assumption that you should know the material prior to his class. Rude and sarcastic. I would highly recommend to take a different professor for a fair chance to pass.

Took Professor Herschkorn for my MTH 123 class in my freshman year 1st semester. I think he is a great professor. He really makes you realize that this is college and you have to be more responsible and independent when it comes to education. For me, he pushed me to do better in this class. His test are challenging. Overall, he is a good professor.

Reviews for his exams were nothing like the actual exam. He has a hard time teaching the class and is not clear with his explanations. If he's your only option to take for any math class... just wait to take math the following semester, you definitely do NOT want to have him as your professor.

This professor is the worst math teacher I've ever had ink my life and I'm not exaggerating. He shouldn't be a teacher, he doesn't teach, he just come to class solving examples from a textbook without explaining anything to students. Review all of precalc before the 1st day of class. He is rude and gets annoyed easily. He does not do it on purpose, it's just who he is. He makes things seem a lot harder than they actually are but, you will still learn some things. Personally I blame the txtbook he follows. You will def teach yourself calculus.

Professor taught us Probability and statistics . Class was held virtually. I was surprised when he graded me B+, so if you work hard expect to receive a bit higher grade.
I came into this class being so good at math and he made me lose brain cells. All he does is talk and if you ask a question he gets frustrated or annoyed. His notes are horrible. Sometimes he gets off topic. I am doing you a favor by telling you not to take his class. If you get stuck taking this class good luck.
online fall 2000, a lot of homework due in webassign every week plus the weekly quiz. He records his lectures so you can go back and review. Graded by weekly quizzes, homework and midterm and final. If you follow webassign you will do well in the class. He does not surprise you with questions that he never reviewed in class or in web on test.
If you want someone with no syllabus and no real guideline to follow, he's your guy. He literally went over homework questions every zoom session and his computer was slow. If you have him for online classes I strongly suggest you don't take his class.
If you're looking for the most unprofessional professor at CSI then you've found him. Is always off-task (making tea or eating), has inappropriate searches on google, gets mad when people ask questions, etc. Takes 1 week to go over a few questions and does not give extra credit/extensions. Do not take him if you do not want to ruin your GPA!!
I took this spring 2021 do yourself a favor & dont waste ur time & money taking this class. Gives quizzes almost every class expects you to do a lot of questions with multiple parts in 15 minutes then locks the quiz doesnt care if you finished or not. Did every hw & quiz and got an F. Doesnt care online or not will not give you a good grade
Honestly was really hard for me to understand. His lectures were very hard to understand and his handwriting even more so. Was very unclear on stuff when it came to tests. I would say it is a benefit that he curves grades well though. I wouldn't recommend this teacher unless you're confident at math because this was the worst class I've taken ever.
Herschkorn is decent. He's not rude or nasty, and was willing to help people. The thing that sucks about this professor is he can not teach very well. If math comes to you intuitively, chances are you'll make it. He also gives a huge curve.
He is a knowledgeable professor, but has nothing to do with you, because his teaching is so bad, he is easy to get angry when you ask questions, and you will even be counted as absent because of his fault. There is no extra credit and easy to fail in his class. If you dont have enough math learning ability, I hope you don't choose his class.
He's a good professor but I do understand where people come from when they say he can't teach that well. You can't completely rely on the teacher, classes depend on your self-study as well. I find it funny that people complain about him and their grades when they don't pay attention in class, like what did you expect? He's a really nice guy.
He can't teach very well. I got by using youtube videos and self-study. He expects you to know certain things and will not go over them. He makes simple things seem complex. It took me a bit to adapt to this class and my 1st exam grade was eh. Your grade is dependent on the few exams he gives. He is also a little condescending.
This professor is likely to be the worst educator Ive ever came across if you happen to get this professor save yourself the time and money and switch classes or just completely drop it before its too late. Seeing these reviews at first made me think I will fail this class, but after I took this class, all I can say is most of these reviews are false. In this class paying attention and giving your full undivided attention matters. Im guessing the people who left bad reviews didnt pay attention. Hes very helpful and reviews are just like exams!
You'll probably pass! Just don't expect much help from professor Herschkorn. His lectures are difficult to follow, and he'll only get 3/4 of the way through the course material. If you care actually care about the subject, I recommend a different professor.
Rude and condescending towards students as if he has some sort of complex and gets mad when students ask certain questions or they don't understand problems. Not a bad workload but his way of teaching is terrible. There are also things he will simply not explain because he expects students to know it beforehand.
Run run run! When I saw the reviews I initially thought this prof can't be that bad BUT ALL OF THE AWFUL REVIEWS ARE TRUE! Please don't enroll into this guys classes. HORRIBLE PROF. Barely teaches and when he does he does 3 questions a class. All he does is talk. Will get mad if you go to the bathroom before he gives the class a 5 min break. He'll start teaching and when the class ends he'll tell everyone to do the homework and for them to learn the rest themselves.

He knows his stuff, but his lecture is overly complex. Even simple stuff can be explained like it's rocket science. If you're going to enroll (which I do not suggest), use Khan Academy. His test is also very hard. He also has a hard time walking and talking. Watching him struggle throughout the semester was painful.
