Very cool professor, just go to class and pay attention, which isn't hard since he's so entertaining. His test are straight forward if you read the book and go to class. Pretty easy class and you learn a lot.

Definitely one of my favorite professors. Very entertaining, always in a good mood.The class is very interesting too. I highly recommend taking him if you need a fun class that you'll actually learn a lot in.

AWESOME PROFESSOR! He is entertaining & cares about his students. He uses Powerpoints so there is no need to take notes. Read the book...he wrote it. He knows his stuff and will teach you some very interesting info .The class is WEBCT enhanced.

He's pretty fun. He shows a lot of pictures- too many- he'll show like 20 pics after we already get the point! Quizzes are easy- you just have to do them- ur grade doesn't matter. Take him =)

I can't say enough great things about this class. His class slide shows are one of a kind and will blow your mind. It is a class that you will WANT to attend. He has a great personality that will make you laugh and enjoy your time spent in a classroom. Take it, take it. No regrets, I promise!

Super nice guy! He makes the material VERY interesting! MC tests. No need to take notes, just go to class and scan over the book. Whatever you do, don't miss a class! Take him, I guarentee you won't be disappointed.

Great class to take even if you arent a CJ major. Only 2 exams (which can wk for you or against you) and weekly quiz on webCT. He puts presentations on webct. Presentations are interesting and informative and makes you want to stay tuned.

Best class and teacher ever! Makes a serious subject funny, entertaining, and very interesting. You'll want to go to class and the 2 tests are simple if you've been in class. You wont believe some of the stuff you will see but that is the world today. Hope he makes a part 2 of the class cause it will be just as good and the class will be full.

Holmes is a goofy guy, but you'll love him. Teaches in a way that softens a very hard subject. Some of the images you'll see are quite disturbing, but people need to realize this stuff is out there. I thought his final was a little unfair, didn't seem to cover what we talked about, but maybe it was just me. Most interesting class you'll ever have.

Dr. Holmes is my new favorite teacher at UCF. He is the first CJ professor w/ a PhD that i've had that actually cares about the students and wants them to do well. Taking Dr Holmes is a must for anyone taking Sex Offenders.

Dr. Holmes is excellent; well-organized; well-planned lectures; extensive use of Power Point with additional slides/videos etc. Exams are very fair and clear-cut. However, if you don't come to class and choose to study via Power Point and Text you will not do well on his exam! Take good notes. This is not a crib course. I loved this class!!!

Took both of the classes he taught when i was there and loved them both. Amazing professor- interesting, funny, well organized, knew everything there was to know on the topics he taught as he had well um written the books on it... literally! If you can get into any of his calsses TAKE THEM!! Incredible classes due in no small part to the teacher.

Class was easy, powerpoint presentations every day. I never took one note in class, just make sure you read the book prior to taking the test, b/c he will put questions from the book in...Some stuff you talk about is pretty crazy but he makes light of it by saying sarcastic jokes. The first exam was very easy. But you must read the material (book and powerpoints)carefully for the following two exams. The second exam was the most difficult exam.

pretty good teacher. posts notes but arent full notes bc of the material. quizzes are easy A's to factor in. really breaks down the material for you so that you understand. the class can get a little depressing and hard to sit through sometimes so be ready for that. otherwise an awesome teacher

Very interesting class, the professor is interested in what he's teaching and the class is just an overall good time. The material can be a bit gruesome and and grotesque, but if your a CJ major, kinda gotta get used to it. 2 Tests total, the classes are so interesting that youll WANT to go.

Professor is always in a good mood & truly interested in the topic. Sometimes he dragged on a little too long about certain items. There are 2 tests- neither hard as long as you attend class.

Professor is very enthusiastic about his job. Material is pretty gross and disturbing, but you learn some interesting stuff. Do his online stuff. 2 tests, first one is easy, second one is somewhat difficult.

Awesome class! Professor Holmes knew exactly what he was talking about. The lectures are kinda gross but very educational. I learned a lot and he always answered any question I had. Very straightforward as to what he expects but DO NOT assume his exams are going to be easy. I studied a lot but it was fun and interesting. Great Class!

Great Class! Don't sit in the front row or you're going to be subjects for his demonstrations and humiliation. Slides were gruesome, but I had fun and learned alot.

Took for sex offenders and it was great. Not much work and he makes you want to come to class very enjoyable!!! Would take again totally recommend

Professor Holmes is awesome! He has TON of real-world experience and he brings in photos from real crimes scenes. Class is so interesting and tests are not hard if you go. Only downside is you NEED to go to class, sucked for me cause I had it at 8:30am. But he made it fun. Book is not really necessary if you attend classes. Definitely recommend!

Great teacher! Easy class puts powerpoints online but not the full lecture so you should go to class. Exams were easy if you do his ungraded quizzes.

One of the BEST at UCF. His class was very very interesting in a disturbing way!!! but if your going into CJ you should get use to it. Lot of gruesome photos of crimes...lots of gross stories from his experience...attendance not mandatory but class not as interesting if you dont go

This was my last core class for my degree. Holmes breaks the material down well and keeps lectures interesting. I hate statistics; I took it for my AA two years ago. I learned so much more from this class than I did before. I'd take it with Holmes over any other professor.

Very knowledgeable about the subject. Only 3 tests and weekly quizzes. Very interesting class, not mandatory attendance but definitely helps if you do. Lots of information you can't find elsewhere from his career and experiences. Highly recommended.

I did not use the book (but it would of helped). The quizzes are easy and he has 1 paragraph assignments that are very easy to elaborate on. His power points are funny but THEY DON'T HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION NEEDED FOR THE TEST. Easiest & best class I've taken at UCF. Also book might be available for checkout in library

Very entertaining class. He knows pretty much everything about sex crimes and he has a deep pool of stories to tell too. 1 quiz every week online but they're super easy, just based on his stories in class. I will say some of the questions are weirdly specific though; expect to get asked things like "what color shirt was Bundy wearing" and whatnot.

Dr. Holmes is very experienced in the subject matter. Has weekly quizzes and 3 exams which are pretty easy if you attend class. The book isn't really necessary, I never used it. I would stress again to attend classes!! All of the questions in the quizzes and exams come straight from lecture, his powerpoints are just a guideline for what he says.

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He is amazing and I would take him for every class if I could. There are three exams, a study guide that is due every week (if you go to class you'll pass with 100) and quizzes that aren't worth a grade. Go to class, he goes over really interesting cases that are on the test. Test's aren't bad but you need to study! Got an A.

Grade is based on weekly quiz, weekly discussion post, 3 exams, and one optional final. Questions come straight from the textbook and often can't be found online. Can copy word-for-word from the textbook for discussion posts. Grades round up. No +/- scale.

Great professor. I took him in the Spring and even though attendance was not mandatory, I went to every class because the lectures were so interesting. There are quizzes you have to do every week, but they only make up for 10% of your grade. There are three test and the last one is optional, so that means the test make up for 90% of your grade.

I took this class over summer B semester. It was an easy A. Read, power points, 10 question chapter quiz after each chapter, three chapter exams, and an optional final. If you don't pass this class, then you didn't try.

Attendance isn't mandatory, but we had TopHat grades (basically like iClicker), so if you don't show up then you don't get those points. Tests consist of equal material from the textbook, lecture, and weekly chapter quizzes. Beware though, if you aren't a fan of crime scene photos and equally gruesome things then this class might not be for you.

I loved Dr. Holmes! he is an awesome professor and I'm taking him again for another class. I was a bit worried going in to stats but he is a very good professor and really tries to make it as easy as possible. Would recommend!!

He loves this stuff and it shows. He's friendly, humorous, and very patient. This is a math class, but you're not using formulas so much as explaining them and how they work. His lab worksheets are extremely useful; use them to make flashcards! Don't miss any class: pop quizzes and class worksheets happen. 2 exams, non-cumulative, 1 optional exam

Fantastic online class, definitely gives realistic expectations with workload. You learn a lot for an online class, although the material can be a bit sensitive. 13/10 do recommend.

I really liked this professor, I SUCK at math. Like horrible, division is about as much as I can do. But dude rly came through. Showed us how to use calculators and everything. Tests were based off of the end of class assignments and the weekly study guides (aka quizzes). Very easy, def take. Only thing that sucks is always having to go to class

This is the only class you'll actually want to get out of bed for. All the cases you go over are completely bizarre. Make sure can look at gruesome pictures like dead bodies. 15 q hw assignment every week. 3 exams, fairly easy if you show up to class. The only bad side is he requires two textbooks for class, and you need them both for homework.

Homles is great! Keeps the class engaged and is down to earth. 3 exams & biweekly 10 question study guides. There is a decent amount of work but fairly easy. You will see graphic photos & HE WONT upload those pictures to the pp he gives to students. Attendance is for a grade & the cases from in class lectures are tested not everything is on the pp

This professor was the best Ive taken so far at UCF. He is very knowledgeable & enjoys teaching. His lectures are via PowerPoint & they are very interesting & educational. He is funny & tells the best stories relating to the subject. I will definitely take him again if I can. Quizzes at the end are easy if u watches the PowerPoint & read the book.

Great and easy class. I enjoyed this class. I learned a lot by simply reading the chapters. You do NEED both books, and if you get both books I promise you will pass. There are about 4 easy quizzes per module. 2 on 1 book, 1 quiz on the other book, and the last quiz on the lectures he uploads. Only 2, 60 question exams.

Prof. Holmes is the most amazing professor. Although his class is very challenging, he knew I struggled and offered assistance beyond his normal office hours to tutor me via zoom. He encouraged me all the way, constantly reminding me not to give up.

Definitely a good professor for Data Analysis; Midterm and Final make up the bulk of your grade so make sure to do well after reviewing the lectures if online. GO TO HIS ZOOM CALLS, he does the Lab assignments AND Study Guides with you. Easy class if you know how to calculate on a graphing calculator and, or use Excel.

I've taken Prof. Holmes for data analysis and sex offenders, and I'd take him for every class if i could. He is by far the best professor I've taken over my four years. He's super caring and funny, and he makes you sure you understand the material. If you're reading this, enroll in his classes. I can't recommend him enough.

This professor is AMAZINGLY knowledgeable. You will need two textbooks for this class as well as a subscription to PackBack. There are weekly writings due, but can be on whatever topic and however long, as long as you get 50+ score on the scale on packback. The tests do carry a heavyweight. His lectures are the most unique and interesting! Take it!

Professor is very informative in his lectures, so I'd say they are worth the watch. I tend to speed the videos up to get through them, however. You usually have a reading assignment with a quiz and a lab assignment that gets you to apply the math you learn about. Paying attention on how to do the calculator methods is very important.

You NEED both textbooks and Packback. There are 2 exams in the class and other grades are based on: chapter quizzes, additional reading quizzes, study guide quizzes, and Packback discussion. Video lectures are very long and you need to watch to take the study guide quizzes, but he makes it fun to watch. Class is very quiz heavy, but they are easy.

Professor Holmes is easily one of the most informative professors I have taken throughout my degree at UCF. His lectures prepare you very well for the quizzes and they don't drag on all day. He is funny and relatable as well. I would definitely take him again if I had the chance.

Great professor, take any class of his that you can! He makes this class simple and easy to understand. He's very clear of expectations and if you show up to class/pay attention it's an easy A. Attendance isn't required, but he gives graded assignments each class that are used for the test questions.

Very thorough for an online class, but it was entirely worth it and he gives you plenty of time to do everything for each module. There's a lot of lectures but he goes into detail and actually teachers the material. Very knowledgeable on the topic, you'll learn a ton from him. Would recommend taking anything he teaches!

12 chap and each chapter has 3 assignments: media activity, packback posting, and quiz. He also gives an optional cumulative final exam that can only help boost your grade. Packback is 1 question and 2 responses with at LEAST 50 pts that the program gives you. Provides PDF summaries of the chap that were a lot easier to read than the book itself.

One of my favorite professors! Lectures are super interesting and not just a repeat of the textbook! He loves teaching the class and is passionate about the subject! Cares about the students! Lots of quizzes but very very easy. If you don't make it to the lectures you wont pass, but they are so worth your time!

Easy weekly quizzes worth very little of your grade based on lectures and side book. 3 major exams worth a large portion of your grade idk what they're based on maybe textbook and lecture? He was super funny

Professor Holmes is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Lectures are great and interactive, plenty of assignments, exams are just like the in class assignments, and he is super helpful and really wants you to learn. I would 100% recommend, I have taken two of his classes and both were awesome!

One of the best professors I've had online! His lectures were always super interesting to listen to. I'm not a big textbook reader, but I was genuinely intrigued by the textbooks we read. Two books, each mandatory for quizzes each week, but worth it. Also willing to work with you on deadlines if something comes up, and responds quickly to emails.

I delayed taking data analysis as long as possible because in HS and sophomore year I struggled to pass stats. Professor Holmes from day 1 made everything so easy to understand and went over everything multiple times to make sure I understood everything. You have to attend class to pass but take professor Holmes if you can. 100% worth it

The class utilizes packback heavily & there are reading quizzes every week. There are two required textbooks for the course. The class is fairly easy if you keep up with packbacks and readings. It was interesting to learn about punishment/torture in the CJS. Professor Holmes is a great professor that is always accessible to students (easy A class).

Professor Holmes is an amazing professor! His assignments are easy yet very informational. I learned a lot about ritualistic crime through his lectures. He uses two textbooks and one was provided! Packback discussions (learned a lot from these), quizzes, and media activities (watching videos, answering questions). I recommend Professor Holmes!

I have taken this professor for 3 elective credits(CCJ4334, 4611 &4690)love him! Join his zoom if you have issues,he will work with you(although he acts tough). Lots of chap(1-2 books)/lecture quizzes,11 packbacks(discussions),3 tests. Very caring and helpful (only when you ask)test questions can be confusing,but overall super interesting courses.

He is a really great professor, He cares in about the you and that you understand the class. You will definitely need the book, because it is his book. But after that the class focus in the book assignments, class assignments, 1 midterm and final exam.

Professor Holmes is the best math professor I have ever had, I have never understood stats like I did with him in data analysis. I really enjoyed his class and he is always there to answer a question. He is extremely accommodating of absences (missing for all the Jewish holidays was no issue).

I love Professor Stephen! He is the funniest, down to earth professor I have ever had. This is my 5th class I have taken with him, and I never regret it. Take him if you have the option to!
