Dr. Lambert is an amazing teacher. His guidance and direction will only make you sucessful if you enroll in his class. If you are expecting an easy A with him, think again. This teacher expects hard work.
If you like writing essays, this is your class. Forget having a semester's worth of dry grammar and punctuation rules. He will teach you as you compile essays all semester long. If you do ALL your work ON TIME, you should earn a good grade.
Professor Lambert works hard and expects us to do the same. If you really want to learn how to write you should take his course. Also he's easy on the eyes!
If you work hard you should take this class. You'll learn a lot.
Great teacher, I had him twice. Do your work and listen and you will do fine. Makes the material very understandable.
I've had the pleasure of study under this professor twice now. I enjoy his teaching style and his professionalism. He literaly holds your hand through the whole research and writing process. You won't make the grade by just showing up. You really need to put forth an effort to earn a good grade.
Took lambert for both 1 & 2, loved the classes, but you will have to work for your grade. Once finished you should be able to write college level papers with no trouble.!!
I learned alot in the class and it wasn't horrible! He did his best to keep us interested and was very very willing to help. I would highly reccomend him!
Great professor...after being out of school for more than 10 years, he made coming to class exciting. I thoroughly enjoyed his class. Highly recommended for students who don't want to just breeze through a class..Slackers need not apply.
This class is not the easiest but not the hardest.Lambert is a very tough grader but is fair. He keeps class interesting and is very clear on what he wants from you.I recommend this class for freshman coming into to college
Lambert is a complete jerk. I really cant stand him and I would encourage anyone and everyone never to take him.
Very enthusiastic teacher...even at the crack of dawn. Very helpful and thoroughly makes sure everyone understands the work that needs to be done. He will walk you every step of the way for your research paper.
this is a very hard class, please take this at YBOR, Lambert is evil and will fail you even if you did all of your work. If you don't believe then just take his class. If your a English major then you should not have a problem, but if your just an average Joe, you will fail because he will say that your not good at grammer!!!!
A firm but fair professor who obviously cares about student success, which he defines in terms of actually mastering the course objectives. If you're lazy, don't bother, but if you want to learn and achieve, he's your man!
DO NOT take this professor! He is so baaaad. He is way too critical on papers and will literally make you rewrite them 20 times. He is NEVER clear on what he wants out of you. He def. Picks favorites. Also, He doesnt go by the syllabus and he drags discuss
Took him for Creative writing twice, the first time, I thought he was ok, but the next time, he was way too critical on papers that were not in a genre he liked. Picked his favorites and pretty much told everyone else that they're writing sucked. I enjoyed writing when I started his classes and now, I continue to write in spite of his classes.

I have had many creative writing teachers and Lambert is definately one of the best two I've had.

Prob one of the Best English teachers i have ever had period! I got an A in his class, just as long as you do all the assignments and study well on the midterm/paper and final, you should get a good grade! the key is the ASSIGNMENTS! DO THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!
HE is GREAT!! Good spirited! Teaches well. If you do all the assignments you'll do great. The courses is more weighted in what you write, not the tests. READ YOUR BOOK....TAKE IT ON A DATE>>His quote. Take advantage of all the bonus points available. If you don't know the correct answer...you still get the points.
A great PROF! Lambert is completely fair when critiquing. Many students say he picks his faves but really the ones who he seems to like all the time, to me, are deserving bc they're gifted writers. Gifted writing deserves praise and Lambert understands this. Also love the fact that he is open to any kind of writing. He deserves better than HCC.
I have learned more from this professor than any other. Go to class & do your work & you will do well in his class. He is extremely helpful & always makes time for his students. For those that called him a jerk, you must have slacked off and failed the class. His classes will prepare you for all other college corses.
Had this teacher years ago and I haven't forgotten how good he is! If you want to learn, Stephen Lambert is the MAN!
Very fair and knowledgeable, this professor is the one to take if you want to learn how to write college-level research essays. You won't get an easy "A," but hard work is rewarded.
I loved his class. Not difficult, just put in a little effort. There is only one research paper for the whole semester! He has a great personality, sense of humor, and is uber-intelligent (good combo). Highly recommend.

A good teacher, but not a good class to take in the summer! His sense of humor, or lack there of, is kind of irritating. If you can overlook that, you will do just fine. Be sure your attendance is on point and you are prepared at all times for whatever he may throw your way. I would recommend Mr. Scott Lowe instead for English.
Professor Lambert isn't one to hand out easy A's. If he sees your effort it will be rewarded. I would taking him again.
Simply the best!
Great Professor! Very helpful and fair.Really enjoyed the class.
Dr. Lambert is great. He requires students to write about real world situations thatt require thinking about their future. This guy is great but some of his jokes suck. Go to class and read what he tells you and you will pass with an easy A
Dr. Lmbert is a BAD professor. He does not explain himeself clearly. DO NOT TAKE HIM...I am warning you!!
Mr. Lambert is actually a good professor. If you have questions he'll answer them for you and make sure that you understand. There were some who told me not to take him for english because he's a jerk, but if you just do the work and he sees that you're putting in the effort, you'll get the reward. Overall, he's great.
Probably one of the best teachers I have ever had. I would recomend him to anyone! He is still there to help you even when you are no longer in his class! Take him!
Lambert is a difficult teacher if you do not know grammar. He grades his essay pretty easy, but he can be an **** if you do not take notes in his class for your notebook. I failed my notebook and received a C in the class. Personally in college he should not be grading a notebook. I took him summer of 2007 Brandon HCC
Nice guy but way too much work. Its crazy how much he makes you do.. deff take another english teacher..if your taking him for another writing class then stay with him. AGAIN >>HE MAKES YOU GO UP AND BEYOND WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR ENGLISH!!
Mr. Lambert is very black and white there is no in between with him. When he revises your paper he just puts a grade. He does not put anything on them you must make your own revisions. If you are not good at grammar he is very diffcult.

Rambles on a lot. Lessons are not very structured. Talks about himself a lot. There is a fair bit of homework, but he collects it up only a few times in the term, so if you don't keep up with the work, you get heaps due at once. He gives lots of opportunities for extra credit.
He is very good professer if you want to learn english very well take it with him
dude, lambert is the best teacher you will ever have. period. hes kinda tough on turning stuff in on time but if youre not lazy then you will do great in the class ;) he has an exit test that you have to make a 70 or higher on the PASS THE CLASS but its not too hard if you study. just keep up with the homework and its a great class :]
Extremely lenient. Almost a pushover. A student in our class was so bad at writing her papers were nearly illegible but he was so easy on her it was almost disgusting. If you even THINK you can write, take this class. He was giving two thumbs up (calling them "professional") to papers that would never in a million years be published.
Dr. Lambert is awesome! He gives you all the tools to get an A. English was not one of my favorite classes until I took him. He makes it interesting and is one of the VERY FEW knowledgeable teachers at HCC. I highly recommend for anyone to take his class! It was a priviledge to be in his class. A+ for Lambert!
You need to put every effort into this class, because she wants everyone on the same page. I personally didn't enjoy his class, but it was okay. Like one of the reviews before he gave more extra work than needed.
i was absent twice halfway through the semester and when i went to check on my grades he had me down for 6 absences! when i told him it was a mistake he said there was nothing he could do about it. i had to withdraw because the absences ruined my grade and i lost the out of state tuition i had to pay for that freakn classs!!!!!!
he is the best i took him for english 1 and 2 and he was awsome study the notes and u will be fine and for english 2 midtearm is the same midterm for english one so if u take english one wiht him take good notes when he goes over english 1
Very nice and easygoing guy. However,he is strict when it comes to grading. The lecture is not very structured, and even though I took notes and had perfect attendance, I felt the tests were a bit difficult and not exactly relevant to the material he teaches. He likes to go off topic. (Golf score,Latest news, etc.)
Dr. Lambert was an extreme joy to have as an educator. I was uneasy about my level of english before attending his 1101 class since I have been out of school since forever! He makes the class interesting as well as educational...I wish he taugh Public Speaking as well! Dr. Lambert is a must take professor for english, but be prepaired to work fo
This guy kinda sucks. I mean he is a great guy overall but they way he teaches is wacked out!!!! Several people failed his midterm. The things he tells you to study are not really what will be on the test. Not looking forward to the final at all. ughhhh
Great teacher, I actually learned things from his lectures! He's pretty strict with grading but as long as you take notes you should be fine. I had him for 1101 & 1102 and was satisfied with my grades considering the tests were a bit tricky. He gives you a lot of assignments to make up points!!!!
Great Professor. Student-oriented. This guy really knows his stuff. However, the lame and lazy student who expects a good grade just for showing up once in awhile need not apply. Some here have argued that he goes off-topic or tells too many jokes--I see it differently: this is a man who tries to make grammar and research paper writing fun.
He is awful. He doesn't let you know what mistakes you have made in your essays, he just gives you a number and the number represents what could possibly be wrong. I didn't miss a class and I got a C, but failed the final due to limited time and guessing the last 15 questions due to a minute left. Don't take him unless you are a grammar genius
Overall, he is a great professor, but there are some elements that he does not cover. In class, we do use the little brown grammer book, but he does not too much do any class assignments. All we ever do in class is debate over topics in the journal. I am very displeased with his teaching ethics. He is only pleased with the students who are more on
Great teacher! pretty good sense of humor considering he is an English professor. For essays, he does not grade them for grammar and spelling-says he wasted too much time doing that. INSTEAD: the student must look back upon their paper and find the errors themselves.
I had him for 1101 and 1102. Great teacher! Strong emphasis on grammar activities. 10 page paper that is required in 1102 was actually fairly easy, don't let that scare you away! If you want to actually learn, I suggest you take him.
I had Dr. Lambert for enc 1101, and he is fantastic! the thing i like the most about Lambert is he is fair, if you looked like you did the work and tried, he will give you credit, no questions asked! his lectures are not only funny but interesting and helpful too. he tells you how it is so you know what to expect straight away. A++!!
Great Prof. He has high standards, but that's a good thing if you are a serious student. If you want an "easy" teacher, look elsewhere (why not sign up at one of those online diploma mills?). If you are a true college student wanting to be challenged, he's your man!
Dr. Lambert is a fun classy man who has a great personality. One of my favorite profs. His classes are entertaining and laid back. He reviews grammar exercises and assignments just enough. Class goes by quick. Not a lot of homework. Essay guidelines are intensely high but after this class you will rock any paper! Got a B overall
Wonderful professor. Very entertaining to hold class discussions with. He is very thorough when going over all information covered. Will be taking for 1102.
Good prof. in his 1102 class the only thing that really matters is the research paper. Show up for class and provide him with a coherent well written paper and you win!
Great professor, encourages debates in class and makes class interesting
Do all homework, keep a neat notebook, journals & retype, show up, participate in class, turn in a good thesis you will do well. Lambert keeps you interested and is not dull.
Anything but a teacher.4 essays total and plenty of journals. He doesn't really teach and goes off topic ALOT!! You have to do work not an easy A. He can sometimes be unrealistic. Cool guy bad teacher.
Likes to get off topic!! not very clear about homework assignments, likes to talk about why a lot of students dont pass his class and he blames the educational system from middle to highschool, never really figured him out. Not recommended.
AMAZING TEACHER.
Great professor! Always there to help students.
he seems to be a little prejudice towards African Americans and Asian, and Hispanics. He seem to be a republican by the views he holds. I Guess he questions the legality of certain individuals by their skin color. Once i heard him speak on weather people should come here legally or illegally while looking at this short Arabic person.
He seems pompous. If you ask how to do an assignment he will say "Well I would..." and that is how it MUST be done. He tells stories, or situations relevant to the discussion from a faux-neutral view point, but he has a conservative bias. Tends to be late by a couple of minutes, but will also release early once in a blue moon.
Dont take his class. He dosent teach, he assigns buch of HW and never collects it, also makes u write essays but dosent check them and then gives them back for u to magically know how to edit it. he is always off topic and dosent follow his own syllabus outline. he also wont let you know your grade in the class, so u have to hope ur passing.
This guys pretty cool. Believe me...thats saying alot because I find English professors, as a group, to be incrediably frustrating, condescending, and pompous human beings. If you're into class discussions, you will love it.
Was in honors section; we spent more time on the history of English than the grammar; lots of little facts to remember, but quite interesting. He does tend to tell a lot of stories, but somehow they always relate back to the subject at hand. Only 2 tests, an oral presentation, and one paper. Fairly easy class.
Try to avoid this teacher all together. He is constantly off task, has very unrealistic grading/ expectations. His tests are full of trick questions and he only provides 30 mins to answer the 50 question midterm as well as final. I was one of the few who even passed the class. I spent over 55hrs out of class on Hw and Essays alone.
The class itself is extremely easy. Many chances for easy points. On the midterm I got a 60 something but I ended up with an A in the class probably because of the paper we had to write which also isn't too bad. I haven't taken an English in 2 years. If you have someone look over your paper then you'll do pretty well. Overall, I do recommend him.
I dual enrolled my senior year of highschool, and 1101 was my first college class. I received an A and continued onto 1102 and earned another A. He is very knowledgeable and interesting. Class flew by fast. He emphasizes grammar as well as writing. Come to class, be punctual, take lots of good notes, turn papers in on time, and you should do well.
He was usually off topic, NEVER stuck to the syllabus. You NEVER knew your grade in that class. All around he was a thumbs down. Wouldn't let you make up assignments after missing them. Avoid him unless you want to take a class where you never know your grade, never stay on topic, and deal with an extremely rude man. Not much help either. BOO!
All in all he is a great teacher. He is pretty tough as far as grading goes, but he tells you everything you need to know for the tests and/or papers. I enjoyed the class and I believe it made me a more well rounded writer. Just a side note: he is not an easy A, so if you are looking for that kind of professor, his is not your man.
I had him for linguistics and English Comp 1, both honors. He is a good professor and I like him. However, he always gets off topic and talks about other things. He doesn't stick to the syllabus either. Those are the only negative things I can say. I recommend taking him!
I really enjoyed him as a professor! He was nice and helpful!! His class was very easy as well, just make sure you do everything he assigns and you will pass the class!!
When Dr. Lambert first introduced himself he came off very arrogant; once you get to know him he is really a great guy; a little vague, but a great guy. He will leave you hanging for the whole semester making you wonder what your grade might be, but as long as you put the effort in, and show him you are; you will do fine.
In Sawyer's class I got an A,In Lambert's class a C. I don't like his teaching style, as a matter of fact I don't really think I learned anything. He marks you of for being 2 minutes late to class and even if you do arrive to class late he wont let you turn in what was due that day unless he takes off a significant amount of points. AVOID!!!
I took him twice the first time he failed me, the second time I got a C you have to do all the work exactly how he wants it and don't ever go to class late or leave early he takes points for that. he wont tell you your grade but enough students ask he will have a confrenece
Great professor! As long as you show up and show effort you will pass.
he doesn't collect any of your work until the midterm, and right before the final. i didn't know how i was doing on the essays. he makes you write 7 essays and randomly picks one to grade it as the final! WHAT?!!
Dr. Lambert is the best English professor in HCC.I learned so much from him.
Great professor for creative writing. The syllabus is nearly the same as his English courses which I'd guess are much harder. Class was laid back and focused on discussion and giving feedback on classmates' creative work. The course had ample opportunity for growth as a writer. We discussed tips to getting published as well. Recommend for CRW.
Professor Lambert was an excellent Creative Writing professor. He is open to all forms of creativity and yet will assist in making the creativity perfected and keeps the class fresh despite how late it is. Lambert is an astonishing professor and he has my recommendation.
I took him for the required SLS first year orientation course. He does not reply to emails. I have attempted to communicate with him on 6 separate occasions through email, he never replied once. This leaves a bad taste in your mouth as a student. He takes 4+ weeks to grade big projects and provides minimal feedback. Will not take this professor.
Dr. Lambert was a great professor. He is articulate and guided me through a tough semester.
Dr. Lambert was very hopeful during my Covid crisis. He really wanted his students to succeed. This was my first college class and I am so glad I ended up with him.
Professor Lambert was really amazing. His class was organized and easy to follow. I liked his feedback. As a first time college student I did not know what to expect. Great choice!
Dr. Lambert was a solid choice. He was very good with communicaton. I hate taking classes but he made it fun and engaging. I learned a lot and think that college will be easier, since I took his class.
Online required course, took over the summer because it really was not something I needed. I did learn some things from the course so it was not a total waste. He provides a rubric for every assignment but does not respond to emails or messages at all, and grading is not timely nor detailed. Would not take for a real course, fine for this.
Dr. Lambert is an excellent professor. I learned a lot from his class. There are a lot of choices for this course but he is the best one!
This class was not as difficult as English. Professor Lambert organized the class to make it easy to follow. He gave reminders on the announcements every week. It really helped me stay on track. He was super helpful during office hours.
I learned so much from Dr. Lambert. He is very helpful.
Dr. Lambert was amazing to take online. I wish I could have met him in person. I highly recommend his teaching style. He was available to help me navigate this course and I hope to take him for other classes.
Dr. Lambert is very professional and I could not be more pleased with his course. SLS offered what I needed to get motivated and moving. Awesome!
the main reason i dropped out.
He takes weeks to grade assignments, his feedback lack actual help, he deducts CRAZY points for nothing, he doesnt understand a student's writing styles and free choice of words. He deducts points because he didn't like the word you used like? I tried adapting to him but he's unpredictable when it comes to grading. Genuinely hope this helped yall.
I advise that you guys look for other professors. He's a tough grader and doesn't provided the needed sources. Professor Lambert doesn't communicate with students well and doesn't even attempt to tell you where to find sources for the class or even provide help. The only good thing about him is that he provides feedback in assignments.
He takes a lot of points off for minimal mistakes and doesn't grade stuff for WEEKS. I cried at least three times about this class and i got stomachaches from anxiety every time I had to submit an assignment.
He was pretty good as a teacher, gave a good amount of assignments but they were very do-able. I would take him again because he was tough but fair. I passed the class with a 90 and without the extra credit he offers in his course.
Professor Lambert's class is well-structured and engaging. Staying on top of the work is key, but with the help of resources like unstuckstudy, I was able to ace the course. Highly recommend for a solid college start!
Great teacher.
Communication in this class was poor, with unclear instructions and limited helpful feedback. There was a strong focus on AI accusations, which made the environment stressful even when work was genuinely written. The tone often felt accusatory rather than supportive, creating unnecessary anxiety throughout the semester.
Unclear directions and poor communication made it hard to know what was expected in this class. Feedback was limited and assignments were graded harshly. Frequent AI-detection concerns added unnecessary pressure and the overall tone felt more accusatory than supportive. This made the semester far more stressful than it needed to be. Not recommended
