Very high expectations, but fair. Often times he would teach expecting you to know what he was talking about. Very dry humor.
.....he needs to get off his power trip......
Very thorough. Just listen and take really good notes during lecture, not to boring very interested and well rounded in his subject. TOUGH TESTS, you must be prepared. Not easy at all but one of the best classes I've ever had!!!!
you can tell he loves what he does and he knows what he's talking about. His tests are extremely hard. He gives you alot of information and expects you to remember all of it. Nice guy but i wouldn't take him again.
Great professor! He made humanities interesting.Tests are hard, but he does give a review guide,so that's helpful.I would definetely take him again.
Hardest teacher ever! But worth coming out of a class knowing something that I desired to learn going in. Tests are extreemly difficult and lectures are difficult to stay awake, very strang humor but I would take the class if I had no hard classes. Made C
Awesome teacher. He made my intersession class fun. I am definitely going to take him again this fall. Hard or not, you learn a lot.
Very fair, passionate about his subject, high expectations. Believes everyone should live up to their potential. Tests are very fair and thorough. Very engaging, never boring!!!
Supercharged! Tough teacher, but very exciting and never dull! Come to this class prepared to learn and be amazed, or die! Worth every penny of my tuition!
Hardest Humanities class ever! Expects everyone to major in humanities. Tests are rediculously hard. Quizes are even more hard. Weird guy with an even more weird personality. Heis the head of the humanities department. Be prepared to study your butt off and learn a lot about the past.
tests way too hard. didnt give enough information too many unnecessary terms. irrelevant questions and teacher expects you to know Everything.
I love Humanities, but this class was hard to stay awake in. He knows his stuff, but the only way you're going to make a good grade is if you research the study guide like crazy. Would only recommend taking this class if you are already knowledgable in the subject.
Very funny instructor. Dressed up in costumes and was very into the subject. However, tests are VERY HARD. You get an entire page covered(no exaggeration) in terms in 10pt font. Also there is an essay on every test. If you're good at remembering what you hear and study 4 hours you can manage a B.
Most brilliant teacher I've ever had----simply fantastic.
this guy is a conceited jerk! his tests are extremely difficult and he thinks that all american students are lazy! i would definetly recommed to AVOID him!
Dr. Law is very knowledgable about ancient humanities and has traveled all over the world to personally study it. He's very interesting, but his tests are difficult, and he doesn't allow enough time to take them.
Dr. Law is extremely intelligent. He makes class very interesting. If you want to learn something about the world you live in take this class. If your just looking for a good grade stay away from this class at all cost. His class is extremely intensive. Very hard. If this is not your major do not take his class. If hum. is your major take Dr. Law.
Dr. Law is probably the best professor I have ever learned from. He is very intelligent and really knows his stuff, he made the class intersting and I really learned in his class. If your thinking about a minor in humanities, take his course and you'll decide quickly. Top notch professor.
As concise comments are required here, I must make clear how arrogant, unbending, condescending, unhelpful, power-hungry, and awful Dr. Law is. As the dept. chair, these qualities should not be what describes this "man." Avoid at all costs.
horrible.... avoid! quizzes hard, tests even harder! Straight A students make D's in his class...
Dr. Law is the best professor I have ever had. If you take his class, be prepared to work, but you will learn so much. His class completely changed my life.
THIS MAN IS ON A POWER TRIP AND IS NOT WIILING TO HELP AT ALL... HE THINKS THAT UCO IS AN IVY LEAGUE SCHOOL AND CUTS NO SLACK.... RUN IF YOU SEE THIS MAN ON YOUR ENROLLMENT
he was ridiculous
This professor is a real jerk. His lectures are terrible, but he makes it ten times worse by acting as if he is godlike. I tried talking to him and he was NOT helpful.
He think he is funny and divine humanoids. His lectures are pretty fast and tide, so if you are an International freshman student eager in taking this class i suggest you to cancel your choice and wait until you are a little bit smarter and your English proficiency level has increases.
If you don't study for his tests you'll end up as grumpy as some of the reviewers below. Good students love his classes, bad students hate 'em.
Horrible & Hard! Do not take him!
Very difficult, tests are hard to pass... there is no extra credit or homework to help out! I would not suggest his class!!!!!
very bad!!!!!!!
dr. law is a character. he dresses up for medieval stuff. it's a pretty tough class though, lot of material to cover. studying is a must. no daily homework besides reading. he knows his stuff, good teacher. even if you fail the first test, you can still make an A in the class. requires effort, but overall it's not too bad.
He tests off the notes/powerpoint, but he quizzes off the assigned readings. The quizzes are fine, SO LONG as you do the readings. The tests are INSANELY difficult, however - you can't cram for them, you have to STUDY. No amount of cramming will get you higher than a B. Insanely difficult class - my other classes suffered because of this one.

Yah so the last class before finals he said to the class, there are 2 people passing this course so basically the rest of you need to make A's on the final to make a C in the class...He didnt even show up on final day. his reviews were about 150 words you had to know. VERY VERY HARD CLASS!!!!
You have to go to class. Very intelligent. You have to study hard to get an A in the class. Just be ready to work for your grade in his class.
horrible teacher. i studied for hours for him and always came to class. insane notes and terms and i did all of them and still failed. he is not cooperative and is a very difficult man to reason with. he wont look you in the eyes and laughs at all the wrong times. a total exgeek seeking revenge. DONT DO IT!
This is a very hard class but he does a great job teaching and makes it interesting. Don't take this class if your not prepared to work.
not an easy class. he piles way too much on a person
good prof. tuff, but fair. you'll know your stuff in the end, but this isn't a class for slackers!
wow, VERY hard class for real... he knows he stuff, but exams are way too hard, he wants you to know every little detail of the material which by the way is A LOT... i dont recommend him, find another professor.
Great teacher who expects a lot from you. I did the reading every day, and got a good grade. He makes you earn your grade, that's for sure! But if you want to think about the things that matter most, this is the class for you.
This prof is not for slackers, whinners, or loosers (see below!). Dr. Law expects you to earn your grade the old fashioned way: study hard! I liked the intellectual content of this class, it made me think outside the box. I took lots of notes, read the book, studied my butt off, and I passed the class. Take this prof if you have a brain!
Not for the weak of brain. He captivates you and brings you to a world you would have never seen otherwise. He may seem distant and scary but he's actually quite harmless and a lot of fun once you get to know him. He expects a lot of his students and even more of himself. Take if you love to learn. Avoid if you love to whine.
He somehow manages to cram extremely large lectures in to 50 minutes periods. He then proceeds to give ridiculously long exams, with review covering up to 300 terms, while there are only about 45 actually on the tests. Quizzes were easy if you read the book. This class is definitely not for the weak-minded. Take if you like a challenge.
Phil & Culture was a blast! Aced it. Thanks for the class.
He's wonderful! He tells his lectures kind of like a story, made them very memorable. You will have to remember a lot of terms and study very hard for the tests, but I learned a lot, loved the way he taught. Everyone says he's mean and way too hard, but I didn't think so, I passed with flying colors.
He is incredibly intelligent. I'll say that. But this class was ridiculous. Be prepared to study like crazy and still be disapointed with your grades. His lectures are awesome but his grading is unfair. He puts surprise material on the exam that wasn't discussed. His tests are unreasonably hard. Awesome guy, RIDICULOUS class and policies.
I took him over the summer. Was not at all happy. His study guides were broad and he handed the test back by giving the lowest class grade first. He was not the greatest teacher.
He teaches mostly with power points. He knows everything about the topics and makes them interesting. The tests are difficult, but if you study you should do well on them.
your grade will be based one three tests, nothing else. the tests are extremely hard. you have to study everyday, no cramming in the last minute. he will give you a paper telling you what to study but it is very braud, and be prepared for suprizes! he tells good stories though. and i have to say he is very smart, just hard as all hell! no a for you
Yes, it's a hard class. But this is college! You have to study a lot, and your only grades (at least in the summer) are 3 tests. But the man practically gives away bonus points, and has two pretty good deals to raise grades after the first and second tests. But he doesn't give away grades... your fate is in your own hands.
Awesome prof! Not that hard if you do the reading and go to class. Lots to learn, but well worth the cost of admission. Highly recommended for students interested in the humanities.
the class and the teacher were amazing. I really enjoyed it. I was surprised that students had marked Dr. Law as such a hard teacher. I thought gen. hum. was straightforward, very interesting, and not too hard at all. I look forward to taking another class from this professor
Seriously dedicated professor. He knows his stuff and tell is a great story teller. If you take notes and read the book this class is fairly easy. There were a lot of A's in our class (including me!).
excellent, entertaining
DO NOT TAKE HIM!! probably one of the most ridiculous classes, ever. there are random quizzes about once or twice a week, doesn't lecture about important stuff WHATSOEVER and the tests are insane. oh and he doesn't reply to any e-mails, even emergency ones, and expects us to know too much information that we can't keep up with our 5 other classes.
This professor is way cool. He makes the classes really interesting. Sure, you've got to do the readings, but if you do the work, its an easy A. I found him very helpful and easy to talk to.
DR. LAW IS THE BEST! Very clear and very well organized. Sure, you gotta do the readings to survive. Sure, you gotta study. Lots. But he's been everywhere and knows his stuff!
Slackers beware! This is a serious "Old School" professor who thinks it's important that students come to class, read the book, and study. If you are a good student, this is the prof for you! Entertaining lectures and extra credit for students who do the reading. Serious, but COOL!
I absolutely loved his class. He is the best professor I have ever had. His lectures are interesting and his papers that he assigns have really cool choices. His tests are not nearly as hard as they are made to seem. Study hard, go over every item on the study sheet. Reading the book is good. But you don't HAVE to I got a B without reading a page.
I've taken several classes with him. He's an amazing teacher, but his tests are unnessesarily hard. He also changes his mind on how he wants the essays written. First he says he doesn't want you to use outside sources and then he decides that he does. If you don't like hard classes don't take his classes, but he is very helpful and nice.
Very frustrating. his lectures and material is very interesting, but the carriculum is ridiculus. doesnt give you notes just have to write down whatever he is saying and assume that whatever you catch is going to help you. dont get me wrong i have had to work hard in classes before, but this class is not even worth it. it is literally impossible.
Talks alot about places he has been to that connects with the lessons. You WILL need to read the book, EVERY SINGLE page of it. You have to take notes yourself and decide what you think is important. Tests are unnecessarily hard! Have to be a very good student to pass!
very hard. take a lot of notes. study guide is very long and you have to know every term and everything about term. tests very hard. STUDY STUDY STUDY. its so worth it when you get an A on a dr. law test! READ BOOK and PAY ATTENTION!
The humanities survey class covers a lot of stuff, but this prof is way cool and has seen everything in the book. The tests are hard, but fair. Read, take notes, study and you'll be fine. I aced the class and will take another.
Dr. Law makes this class very interesting, but there is a lot of material covered. It is a survey class and he covers most of what is in the text. Paying attention and taking lots of notes is essential. He gives a comprehensive review guide, but you'll have to work if you want an A. I did't have any problems. Great teacher.
OBNOXIOUSLY HARD! COMPLETELY unnnecessary! His lectures are not cohesive with the text. The reading is insanne. It is a self indulgence exercise in his perceived intillectual superiority. If it's your only class.... Maybe. Plan on spending 10 + hours a week reading and studying
Do never take his class!!!!!!
Dr. Law's Intro to Philosophy class was challenging, but not particularly difficult. If you do the readings you can't help but get a good grade. He gave so much extra credit that I made an easy A. There were a lot of slackers in this class though! Serious whiners! I learned a great deal.
What a DINOSAUR! Law expects you to read the book and understand it. You have to go to class (and dont be LATE!). Lots of studying. It made my brain hurt. Who needs philosophy anyways? Where did they dig this teacher up? Talk about old school!!!
Prof Law is the BEST! Mostly lectures, but very interesting. TAKE LOTS OF NOTES. Tests are not too bad, but you really have to study for them. Perfect attendance gets you a big bonus (helped me out in the end). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
For the love of god do NOT take Dr. Law this is the hardest class I've ever taken. That's all I'm saying.
Dr. Law is challenging, there is no debate about that. But I can say I never learned as much from any other teacher. He puts a lot of effort into his lectures ... and he expects you to do the same.
Dr. Law is a dedicated professor and eager to teach what he loves to his students. I had him for not only Pagan Europe but for his Viking class as well. You WILL have to study for his tests but he has a study guide, I recommend learning something about everything he puts on it. Very funny and passionate guy, his classes are very educational.
Had Dr. Law for 5 classes, each class was hard but very enjoyable, educational, and full of surprises. He is great when he comes dressed up. His tests are VERY HARD but if you study you will do fine. Take LOTS OF NOTES, EVERY THING he says is important. He believes that if you are in college, you want an education and that's what he gives you.
Professor Law is intelligent. If you are intelligent and well read you should not have a problem. However, one should not stray into private ideologies. If you take a test and the essay is over a certain discipline or philosophy write about that subject. If you study you will pass with an A. Ancient Med, will cover pictures, know them.
I took Dr. Law's Humanities (Anc-Med) as a core requirement. It turned out to be a very interesting class! I came home everyday with a new "did you know". His tests are very hard and you must devote a lathe chance of time to passing. Do not skip class, you will be lost come test time. Highly recommended!
I took Humanities (Anc-Med) & I feel like I could compete on jeopardy just with what I learned in his class. Albeit, it is a very rigorous class that covers a lot of material so there is no way to skip & get by. You also must use several sources when studying (lecture notes, text, research). He rewards the effort though. ENLIGHTENING!
Interesting class. Large slightly unhelpful study guides!!!! =(
Dr. Law was one of the best professors I've ever had! He is very wise and I think very highly of him. I think he may have changed my life...
His study guide for Gen. Humanities has over 421 terms and 40 pieces of artwork you need to know. However only 5 of the artworks and about 35 terms are on the exam. He expects you to know 100% of that but only has 10% on the exam. AVOID HIM AT ALL COST. He treats the class as if we we're all Hum. majors. My Calc4, Diffy Q, PHYSIC2 class were easier
I wish I could rate this guy a 6.0 overall. I learned a HUGE amount in his classes. Yes, he's tough. There's a reason--HE WANTS YOU TO GET AN EDUCATION. And frankly, he knows what he's talking about. Don't take his classes if you're looking to skate by. If you're interested in learning, he's the guy.
A wonderfully funny beer connoisseur! He knows his stuff and presents it in a pretty engaging fashion. The best teacher I've had at UCO and my favorite class. Study for atleast 2 weeks in advance of his tests, do the reading, and you will be fine.
His class is very hard! I am very interested in this time period and am a religious note taker, but myself and the rest of my class did not do well on the tests (which there are 4 of and that's all) However, he is so interesting and wonderful to listen to, but the test seems to cover the most obscure material. Make sure you study hard and memorize!
This class was not particularly hard if you take notes during the lectures. Dr. Law presents the material in an interesting and thoughtful way. The terms you will be expected to know are mostly written on the board before class, so it is easy to anticipate what will be on the tests.
I learned more from this prof than any other. He knows his stuff and has been everywhere. TAKE NOTES if you want a good grade. LECTURES are first rate. Gives quizzes in addition to 4 tests, with lots of extra credit that can help improve your grade. RECOMMENDED!
I took this class in the Summer. Talk about flying through material. It was boring at times. But overall you can see Dr.Law's passion for the subject! I learned A LOT! If you want an easy A this is not the class for you.. You will get what you earn.. HE ALLOWS A LOT OF BONUS POINTS! It can bump you a letter grade!! You'll get out what you put in..
I highly recommend his class,I really enjoyed it. He offers A LOT of extra credit points. You can raise your grade a whole letter grade w it. His tests are challenging, he gives you everything on study guide but he gives SO MUCH that is not even on the test. There is also a lot of reading and quizzes, you have to have the book. A lot of artwork too
Great professor...If you attend class, and pay attention, and take notes based on what he puts on the board..you will get at least a B. People that have a problem with Dr. Law, are lazy and expect someone to give them a "break" instead of just doing the work..
This class was extremly hard his test were over the top hard he writes a million terms on the board and doesnt ever get done with them all but expects you to know them all his study guides are rediculious and not helpful more like stressfull and his test only get harder as the semester goes on. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
I took Gen Hum in the summer and got an A. Prof Law is one of the best teachers I had at UCO. Yeah, he expects a lot; but he delivers as well! IF YOU DO THE READINGS YOU WON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS! If you expect to get an A for doing nothing, this is not the teacher for you. Highly recommended for those who want to learn.
This class is very hard and he expects you to know every term in the book.
Prof Law is not the hardest I have encountered, but he is one of the best. You actually have to read the book in this class -- something most students think is an unrealistic burden. If you take good notes, study the review guide, and read the book, it is easy to pass his class. VERY INTERESTING CLASS!!!
Doctor Law is one of the best. He is passionate about his subject, that's for sure. DO THE READING ASSIGNMENTS if you hope to pass the course. He gives so many extra credit points (based on the readings) that it is hard to fail if you really come to class prepared. Loved this class and I plan to take another!
Fascinating lectures. Very passionate & informative. Takes LOTS OF NOTES! The test review sheets are intense; only a fraction of the data will be on the test but Dr. Law expects you to know them ALL! Loved this course!
I learned a lot in Professor Law's Introduction to Philosophy course. He has three tests and lots of extra credit for doing the reading (we had 50 points of extra credit for a 300 point course total). Can't go wrong if you read, take notes, and go to class! Recommended.
I have been told that I will be just like Dr. Law when I am teaching, which I take as a compliment. Dr. Law definitely makes you earn your grade, but he is very passionate about what he teaches. HE WORE ARMOR TO CLASS! Dr. Law is the real deal when it comes to a Humanities professor.
Class is fine as long as you do the reading, but the tests are far and beyond unrealistic to accomplish well!
Of over 100 courses I've taken in my many years in various fields of study, Dr. Law is the best professor I've ever had. But he ain't easy! If you intrinsically value education, you shouldn't care if it's difficult, you should wanna be challenged,as long as the professor can teach with clarity and passion, and Law certainly can do that!
For his 4 tests that he gives during the semester: Around 500 terms to memorize, and 40 pictures in your textbook you also have to know, but on the tests he only pics about 50 of the terms and 5 pictures. 10 true or false. 15 free response. Oh and you have to write a 300 word essay. Try to complete all of that in the 50 min of class. Don't take!!!
PROFESSOR LAW IS GREAT! He expects you to learn the material, so don't take him if you aren't serious about getting an education. Tests are fair, with matching, true/false, MC, and a couple of IDs. Yes, he expects you to write essays (this is college), but he gives the questions out in advance so there are no surprises. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
You can't find a better teacher than Dr. Law. His lectures are AMAZING and you can tell he is passionate about what he teaches. If you read the book and prepare for class you'll have no trouble. He writes all the words on the whiteboard before class begins, so you can follow what's important. He also gives so many bonus points it's hard to fail!
Took this professor for Intro to Phil. If you do the reading assignments, you'll ace the class cuz he gives LOTS and LOTS of bonus points on quizzes. No reading, no bonus points. Also big bonus for perfect attendance. Great class. Made me think.
This professor is GREAT! You'll need to do the reading, but Dr. Law has so many opportunities to earn extra credit that you have to really work at failing. I made nothing but Bs on the exams, but wracked up so many points I earned an A! Going to class every day also earns a bonus as well. I learned a lot and loved his sense of humor.
I took General Humanities 1 with Dr. Law. His lectures are AMAZING, but you will need to be prepared for class. DO THE READING! He gives 3 exams and plenty of quizzes, and there are bonuses (even for perfect attendance). Make it to the end and there is the real show: he shows up in class as a Viking and other medieval characters. RECOMMENDED!!
FIND A HUMANITES CLASS ONLINE ITS EASIER!! he's passionate but he's tests are HARD AF !Maybe its because it was a one month summer class so everything fast paced but clearly I wasn't the only one having problems because the class started out with 18 students then 1 week in we were down to 7 people. I HAD TO DROP THE CLASS. FEELS LIKE JUNIOR LEVEL
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! He taught this class as if it was a 4000 level class instead of an intro. Nothing he said ever made any since, he wasn't helpful at all. The class started with 30 students and ended with 10. I tried my best and showed up every single day and he still failed me. Every person who sat around me failed the class as well.
Wow. Not sure where the other students were. Very few dropped. I got an A in the summer philosophy class, without ever making an A on a single test. He gives so many bonus points that you really have to do nothing at all to fail. The lectures were amazing and the professor isn't hard to understand if you are prepared for class. FIRST RATE TEACHER!
If you are looking for an easy A, stop reading now. If you want to actually learn something, continue. Doc Law is intense. He expects you to do the reading and master the material. He gives a review guide with the terms you need to know, but it is up to you to do the work. Tons of Xtra credit, but you have to earn it by being prepared for class.
Law's humanities class was one of the best I've had. He's passionate about the material and he has lots of stories from visiting the things in the book. He brings the material to life. Review guides are tough, but fair. Do the reading every day, and don't wait till the last minute to study. I learned a lot about culture and history.
YOU HAVE TO READ!!!! There is no other way to pass this class. I was not ready for the amount of reading I had to do! I went into this class expecting it to be an easy A and ended with a high C. READ!!!!! If you read and know material this class is passable with an A or B but you have to read.
Doctor Law is the best. Clearly defined requirements, with so much extra credit quizzes that you could make Cs on tests and still get a final A. Makes you think, particularly about the issues of democracy. Read the book and you can't go wrong. Don't read the book and you're toast. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for those who are open to rational thinking.
Law is a professor who expects you to come to class prepared. If you read the book, you'll think this class ridiculously easy; if not, then you haven't got a chance. 3 tests, review guide, some writing of short essays, and tons of opportunities for earning extra credit on quizzes. Lectures are first rate, as the Doc has been everywhere. TAKE!
AWFUL, he made class a nightmare. The tests were insanely hard and passing near impossible
Whatever you do, do not take this class. I thought I was a good student who pretty much only made A's and Bs, till I took this class and I ended up having to withdraw since I was scared for my life that I would fail. I never studied so hard for a test in my life and I still failed. Also, the tests make up 90% of your grade and they are so tough.
Worst/most difficult class I have taken. His 1000 level courses are harder than my 4000 level. This dude has a huge ego and has no desire to help you learn the outrageous material. His test are ridiculous. Only take this course if you have 30+ hours to study a week because that is what he recommends. I never post ratings but do NOT take this course
Best class ever! Doc Law's class is heavy on reading (hey, it's philosophy), but he also offers LOTS AND LOTS of extra credit. Students who didn't do the reading complained a lot, but those who read the book scored big time points. Three tests and pop quizzes on the reading. The class is easy if you read -- and impossible if you don't.
This class made my brain hurt. I was never exposed to philosophy before, but Law made me rethink many of my basic assumptions. I don't think my world will ever be the same. Question everything seems to be his MO. And that was just what I needed. Keep up with the book and readings. Take notes. And study the terms on the review guide he gives you.
Dr. Law was an amazing professor and I very much enjoyed taking his Ancient Greek Culture class. You can tell he really has a passion for it. He is tough when it comes to papers, but only because he really knows his stuff... so bring your A-game!! I will be honest, I never read but still managed a high B/low A in the class just by taking good notes
LOTS AND LOTS OF NOTES!! Very hard tests but you do learn a lot.
Recommended for Gen Hum: Ren Mod. Lots of reading, but a ton of extra credit can be earned if you do it. Take lots of notes too, cuz your going to need them to study for the exams. They're tough but fair. The powerpoint lectures are well done. He also covers the entire period from the Renaissance to the present. I worked hard and made an A.
It seemed to me that he wanted to focus more on his accomplishments than anything else. I just wish he could have made the lectures more fun and interactive (especially for a cultural history of beer class). 2 take home tests (essays, definitions), 2 visits to brewhouses. Easy A if you can survive the 3 hour lectures and bragging.
I took the Cultural History of Beer class and it was GREAT. 2/3 culture and 1/3 brewing technologies (beginning, intermediate, advanced). The prof knows a LOT about the subject and has 25 years of experience as a brewer. Very interesting lectures. The class was "easy" because everybody got a chance to rework their take-home exams (written essays).
Personally did not feel like an Intro level Philosophy class to me. His exams are VERY lengthy and take up all the class time. We read the entire book and he lectures the entire time. Gets off topic very frequently so you basically have to teach yourself. For a visual learner I would not recommend taking this class. He is very quirky.
This class changed my ideas in so many things. Yeah, you read a lot (this is a philosophy class!), but the lectures are first rate and the historical approach gives you a good introduction to the topic. 3 tests, tuns of extra credit. I made Bs, but got an A. Attendance bonus helped. I used the tutors too. Read the book. Take notes. I loved it!
I have taken several classes from Dr. Law, but it all began here, in Gen Hum 1. He knows his stuff, and it passionate about cultural history. ou won't be disappointed. Great lectures with informative PowerPoints. 3 tests, lots of opportunities for extra credit, and clear study guides. You read, take notes, and study, and you're there. Fantastic!
I had no idea what philosophy was about, but this class spoke to me. We dealt with major questions and had a full exposure to the history of the subject. Very cool stuff. Readings were engaging. 3 tests (including essays). Quizzes on the readings with lots of extra credit. Never a dull moment and lots to think about. Highly recommended!
This class was the best. If you read the book you'll make so many bonus points that it is hard to fail. Loved the lectures. Thought provoking. Funny guy who makes you think! 3 tests, essays in advance, and very helpful. Recommended. I'm now signed up for his medieval philosophy class, and I'm thinking of taking a minor in philosophy.
I took this class on the recommendation of a friend, and I wasn't disappointed. Prof Law is one of the best. The lectures really make you think. His tests are not hard if you study, and he lets you know the terminology well in advance. Lots and lots of extra credit, and take-home essays. Take notes and read the book and you'll make an A.
To be honest I don't recommend taking any of his classes unless you are a Humanities/Philosophy/ Liberal Arts Major. He is a very rigorous teacher and his classes are no joke. I recommend recording the lectures and studying for the exam the minute you get the study guide. He's a great professor but will definitely make you work for it.
I learned a lot in this class. The prof knows his stuff and really makes you think. 3 tests, with plenty of extra credit quizzes, and 3 take-home essays. I found this class relatively easy, but I did read the assignments and studied for the exams. Probably the best class I've taken at UCO so far. Recommended.
Best class I ever took. This teacher changed my life. If you want to know were you came from, this is the class to take. Read and study and it'll be easy to pass the tests. But the lectures were by far the best I had in my 4 years at UCO
Doctor Law is an amazing Professor if you are willing to put the work in. His classes are extremely interesting but require large amounts of reading. I highly recommend taking his courses.
Stephen Law is by far one of the hardest professors Ive had. However, the difficulty of his classes has made me a better student. I actually feel like I am learning when I take his classes. Its not a simple read, memorize, and regurgitate information type of class. You have to actually understand the information and concepts.
Dr Law's class was central to my experience at UCO. He gave me an excellent foundation. His 2113 class proved to be the highlight of my college adventure. You will find his lectures incredibly inspiring, and he's been pretty much everywhere he teaches about. His tests are appropriately challenging, but easy if you take notes in class. RECOMMENDED!
The tests are a bit difficult if you don't take good notes in class, and if you don't take detailed notes from the chapters that assigned for the day. There are only three tests, and they increase in over the semester 80/90/100. He will also give more than enough points in quizzes, which can get more than the 30 points needed.
