Professor Lukacs uses lecture podcasts to explain difficult concepts in the chapters. He assigns lab, extra credit, and the grading depends on the quizzes and tests. It is best to get ahead of the syllabus, read the chapters early, and do the review questions at the end of the chapter. He will answer questions, and attending class is mandatory.

He has online lectures, so when you get to class it is your time to ask questions. He will answer any question in full detail. Read your book, watch all the lectures, go to class. Overall great professor!

This was a hybrid class and he seems like a bad teacher at first because his test were only 5-7 questions long but if you watch his podcast, ask questions when you can, and read the chapters you will pass, he is also a lenient grader when it comes to test. So if he sees you tried and you some what know the material you will pass the test.

I haven't finished his course yet, but with two weeks left, I am writing this because I fear I might die of stress before it's over. Don't get me wrong, he's an awesome guy- funny and very, very helpful. But this class is ENTIRELY self-taught. 4 hard quizzes and 2 tests, open . DON'T take him unless you are going into medical school or engineering.

Dr. Lukacs has been a great professor so far. He has podcasts online to watch so you can pause or re-watch as many times as you need. He also gave worksheets for the first 8 chapters to really nail down the basics of the course. All quizzes and exams were open note. Very helpful when you have questions. I would definitely recommend him!

Dr. Lukacs is a good professor, however he expects the student to really try hard and do your part by studying and practicing at home. I took his hybrid course. With the exception of podcasts ( available to you online) this course is self taught. If possible, take a class with a lecture included, especially if chemistry doesn't come easy to you.

Dr, Lukacs facilitates the class effectively. However, he makes you earn your grade and you are responsible for reviewing podcast, reading, and asking questions. He is an awesome Professor and very helpful as well! I took his hybrid course an it was all self taught! I am not good at chemistry at all but I still managed to pass with a B! If you are planing on taking his class be prepared to do his practice questions he posts on blackboard and a lot of studying. Also his quizzes do prepare you for his Exams.

Great teacher. He is goofy and makes chemistry fun to learn. I was really nervous because I've never had a chemistry class in my life but I'm doing really well and the class is more than half way over. Would definitely recommend and take him again!!!!!

I had to study hard for this class because it didn't come easy for me, but, Dr. Lukacs gave us plenty of time to ask questions before lab to clear things up. I practiced so many problems but the good news was he let us use our notes on the tests. Labs were sometimes difficult and sometimes cool.

He only teaches Hybrids, so class is mostly lab. His lectures are online. He does always ask if there are any questions before class starts and he always answers them if there are any, but no one asks. He is fair with grading but tests can be hard.

Hybrid course. Physical class consisted mainly of labs, it worried me at first because he didn't teach much during class time. That's because his podcasts are an amazing tool, combined with your book and actual hard work you won't fail. In my experience I liked the class, but what I didn't like was the fact that everything was self taught. throughout the class we would only go over things we would not be taught in class you would need to study everyday on your own.. it's not necessarily bad it's just preparing you for real life nobody is going to explain things to you.

Great professor, and his hybrid designed course allows students to progress at their own pace. I found the online lectures very helpful. The quizzes, and exams are based on the online lectures and the in class lectures. Chemistry is not an easy course by nature, but Professor Lukacs makes it simple to understand, and very enjoyable.

Here's a very forward professor for ya. If you can't handle sarcasm then he's NOT the professor for you. He does put chemistry into good life terms, and to be more specific, he's not "lecture" heavy, he's podcast/blog heavy. If you're willing to work for it, he's willing to help you succeed. While this course is mostly self taught, Dr. Lukacs is the best professor I've ever had. I learned so much more than I ever expected to. This class is not for the faint of heart. Dr. Lukacs expects you know your general chemistry prior to taking the class. Not knowing is not an excuse. The provided podcasts and other blackboard materials are a must read for the class. Lab report expectations are clearly explained. Reading the textbooks is a must if you want to pass.

I took him for Chemistry Instrumentation. This class is not for the faint of heart and requires a lot of research and self motivated learning to figure out the labs. He is a tough grader but if you figure out how to analyze the data and write a solid report for each lab you will do well.

Podcasts. Podcasts. Podcasts. Watch ALL of his lectures on time (2 to 3 a week). They are the foundation for all that will be discussed in class. Similar, almost exact problems will be on the quizzes and tests from the podcasts. Class is primarily to ask questions about problems you had from the podcasts and to do labs, do not skip lab.

He does all his lectures online and when you come to class you ask him any questions you need answered. But, if you don't do the online lectures then the next class isn't very useful.

I think this professor is great. show up once a week for labs, he spends the first hour answering any questions you want and breaks it all down well. lectures are online and they are great. they answer my questions before I need to go to class. labs are pretty good. he is funny too. he goes off topic but only to teach better study habits.

I never had chemistry. I worked very hard. Like he told us, I used the dictionary to understand the textbook. It helps. I watched the podcasts like 6 times and took lots of notes. It helped on the tests.

Had him for Chemistry Instrumentation. We all had to do our own labs in groups of 2. Lots of lab work. Lots of solutions. Data analysis was very hard and almost impossible. Lots of textbook reading. Very tough concepts. Learned a lot of Excel and Word.

I took chem online in a 7 week course. Dr. Lucaks was very hands off, which I really liked. He was very clear at the beginning of the course that we are adults and are responsible for our grades. I dedicated about 30 hours each week to chem, the grades were based solely on exams, and if you put in the work, there's no reason you can't earn an A.

I took his online class. He follows the text closely, its good, and he has excellent podcasts that really clear up the reading and problems. Even though we never meet face to face, his podcasts really make it like its not online at all. His first day, he explains working hard, notetaking, reading, and problem solving. Dr. Lucas was a solid choice. The online lectures and podcasts are very thorough and the majority of the tests and quizzes comes from that material. Science is not me, I hate chemistry, but I loved this class. Dr. Lukacs really made me work for my grade. He gave us reasons to do well and I want to be a nurse, it motivated me. I never worked so hard. The book was everything, did tons of problems. Took notes from the text and lectures. Used them on the tests. Labs were ok.

My test averages were very low, but my last test I did so much better and worked really hard by reviewing his lectures again. I had trouble with loading tests in week 3 but he saw what was wrong and opened back up for me. Great teacher, online classes are just not for me.

I thought my high school chemistry teacher was great, and he was very nice, but he didn't teach us like Dr. Lukacs taught. I learned so much more from Dr. Lukacs, and not just chemistry, but about real studying, college, and nursing. I have so much to more to learn. Take Dr. Lukacs if you really want to learn real chemistry for nursing.

I failed the class. I did not do enough homework and had medical issues. Dr. Lukacs is great. He has great lectures and really cares. He spent an hour guiding me through the expectations of engineering and I never knew there was so much math and study involved. I am going to take him again and get my engineering degree.

I hate fully online classes because there is little FaceTime with the professor. But Dr. Lukacs online lectures really make the textbook much clearer. They saved my life. The tests were tough but I know I'm better for it and prepared for nursing. He gives lots of partial credit on the tests.

Chemistry is intense like really the math the ideas the reading the problems the tests. Dr Lukacs got me through it with a B. he follows the textbook. he lectured and had podcasts as backups. you can't miss labs and you have to show up.

This was my first ever completely online class. I was put off by the first page of the syllabus having a quote about failure, and also an underlying theme of the class being that if you do not understand chemistry you will fail as a human. Class was hard but fair, although grading seemed wonky, I got 6 points off and my friend only 5 for same thing

Dr. Lukacs is a great instructor. Be prepared to work hard for whatever grade you want. Be ready to take notes. The notes I took from the podcasts and textbook helped me in his class, tests, and quizzes. Seriously, WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN. You won't regret taking good notes. Also WATCH THE PODCASTS they are important especially for hybrid classes.

The key to this class is studying. You will not pass if you don't. Read the book, watch the podcast, take notes, and do the practice problems ask questions on problems you don't understand. He is a difficult professor, but his is always there to help and provides the materials necessary that will allow you to succeed. 4 exams, 3-take home, 1 in class which is a review of general chemistry. Professor Lucas definitely reminds us what nursing is about and is not like my other teachers. Direct and closely follows the syllabus. He makes us learn the material and show all our work. He grades by partial credit. 1 test every week. No other assignments or homework is graded. I would take him again. He would not give me extra credit.

Dr. Lukacs is a very good teacher and doesn't try to over complicate chemistry which is already confusing enough. The laid back teaching style allows for students of different backgrounds to feel relaxed, and provides a wonderful learning environment. If the question is chemistry related, it will be answered.

I had Dr. Lukacs for his full face-to-face class. I needed to meet twice a week because chemistry is hard and I am not one for it. He is a great lecturer and I used the podcasts as backup lectures. He also tests from the textbook, so I had to read and practice those problems also. The text is good but not as good as his lectures. Labs were ok.

This course was a lot of work but his online lectures ensured you knew everything needed to pass all tests and quizzes. He is a very down to earth, comedic teacher. Even though chemistry is not my strong suit I did learn a lot and enjoyed the course.

Dr. Lukacs' hybrid class uses lots of podcasts and the textbook. He follows his syllabus with 11 labs, 4 quizzes, and 2 tests. You can use your notes on the tests, so take notes off of the podcasts and reading and practice lots of problems. He does partial credit on tests.

Dr. Lukacs is the best teacher I've ever had in college. His lectures are online and his labs are well organized. He gives partial credit on quizzes and tests and they are open notes. Study hard and you'll do fine.

Dr. Lukacs is the toughest professor I've ever had. Only a few people can handle his personality. He will make you work for your grade. Ask questions and he will set you up in the right direction for you to find the answer. Be ready to read and write because it will be the majority of what you do. Be as detailed as you can in your lab reports.

Hard class to take online. The podcasts are old enough to be 2nd graders, but they are pretty easy to understand and are actually EXTREMELY helpful with quizzes. Prepare to use EXCEL, go to the beach to get ocean water, and buy a bunch of chemistry stuff. Don't be the one to make him "lose his cookies." He has a personality that is cool overall.

Worked hard in this class. All online for covid19, labs too. His podcasts are very useful and help alot on the tests. Labs are difficult but interesting. He answered questions well during teleconferencing. I read alot and the text is difficult to read at times. I never worked so hard but I learned alot.

Professor Luckas pushed us to work hard for our grade. He is not mean, but he is realistic with you about your work and preformance. I learned a lot of chemistry, more than any other class. I really learned how to study. I outlined the chapters in my text book. I wrote notes on the lectures. I followed the directions in the labs. Its not hard, but it takes work. I made an A and will do these things in the future.

Corona changed everything. He tried to keep his hybrid class the same as before. The text, podcasts, and tests were the same. Labs were at home and I wish he could've been there to help me when I needed it. But he answered all of our questions during class time.

Typically l, I would not have taken chemistry online. This class just proved it all. Hes a good professor and provides a lot of resources, such as podcasts and worksheets. However, the lab section was tougher than anything else for me. Most labs are time consuming.

This is my third time taking this class. Chemistry is a lot of work not matter who you take. Dr. Lukacs really cares. He gives lots of pointers on studying and getting through the class. You have to study the text and podcasts and carefully follow the labs which were done at home. Tests are not hard if you studied.

The online class took a lot of studying, but he provides some very helpful podcasts for you to go over as much as you need. If you still don't understand a certain topic, there's usually plenty of extra questions to go over in the text book and by googling the topic.

Dr. Lukacs laid out the whole semester the first day of class. And he recorded it for us and posted it on Canvas. We followed the syllabus and we had labs, bingos, quizzes, and tests. The text was ok but his podcasts helped the most.

Very detail oriented professor. He provides podcasts and thorough notes that are good examples of what is expected to be on the tests and quizzes. His tests are always full response answers, no multiple choice. Sounds difficult, but it encourages thought process and he gives fair partial credit even if the final answer is wrong. Great enthusiasm and character. One of the few professors who has made me laugh out loud on multiple occasions. He is willing to take the time to help you understand anything you struggle with. Pay attention when class is going and record the lectures. If you put in the time between his podcast he creates and the book for the course, you will pass.

I took the 8:30am class so its hard to wake up for, but a great time to put you in learning mode. This is my second time having this teacher and one of the few classes that I picked up on the criteria. He makes sure that youre not only learning in class but on your own time as well. This was my first time taking this professor and I enjoyed this course. He reviewed all quizzes and made sure everyone had an understanding. There is feedback on all quizzes and test telling you what you need to work on and if you need extra help stopping by during office hours will do you some good. This teacher wants you to succeed.

By far my favorite professor I have had at FSCJ so far. There are two bingo's near the beginning of the course which are short, 15 min quizzes. There are 12 lab reports, 4 quizzes, and 2 exams. The bingos, quizzes, and exams are all open note, so if you take good notes you'll be fine. Overall, a great teacher, I will be taking him for chemistry 1 next semester.

Professor Lukacs style of teaching is a 10/10. Many labs to do, so as long as you show up to class and pay attention you'll be good with those. What he puts in the test is from the lectures (podcast) so if you watch those and read the book you'll make a good grade. He's a lenient grader, so study and take notes and you'll suceed.

Professor Lucas is great. This course was hard for me, but only because I didn't study as much as I should have. I probably deserved a D, but I made out with a B because there are lots of labs with high point values, so if you come and do the labs, that's most of your grade. Professor Lukacs is honest with you from the moment you get into his class ,in that you have to practice and there are no exceptions or shortcuts. Be sure to attend lectures and class as they are important for labs, review, and asking questions. Make sure to have chapters read and practice problems done before lectures.

Dr. Lukacs cares about his students success and their careers. He emphasizes hard work, study, and practicing problems. His podcasts are excellent but take time. 4 quizzes, 2 tests, and about 11 labs. His tests are not multiple choice and require you to show your work. Study and you'll do fine.

Chemistry is tough. I wish I had Dr. Lukacs for Intro. He is direct and no nonsense. He really wants us to learn chemistry. He stresses its importance in future classes and gives a lot of examples and answers questions. His podcasts saved me and the text is necessary, although I hate reading. Labs are ok and tests open notes.

I had Dr. Lukacs for Introductory and General Chemistry 1 and 2. He allows open notes on tests that you write yourself and any tables or equations. He answers all questions and goes over the tests thoroughly. His podcasts are amazing and got me through. He is not easy but I promise if you, study hard and you'll do great! and learn cool stuff!

Professor Lukacs cares very much for his students. He treats his students with respect. He does not water down the material and makes the quizzes and tests fair. If you need help understanding something he is willing to help you, however, he will not waste time on you if it is apparent that you have not studied. In his class, you must earn respect.

Dr. Lukacs is a particular man that may not be everyones favorite cup of tea; however, my experience in his class has left me feeling confident about chemistry. Isn't that the goal? He'll spend hours answering any questions students may have, but if you're the type of student with low motivation to self-learn..this professor may not be for you.

Dr. Lukacs's recorded lectures are VERY helpful. Do your reading and homework before the lab and then ask a lot of questions--he'll answer them and work with you until you figure it out. He fosters camaraderie in the classroom, which is helpful for finding study partners, which were helpful. The textbook was verbose and occasionally convoluted.

Prof.Lukacs isn't an easy prof. nor is this an easy class. It's challenging and time consuming BUT he does give you all the resources you need to pass the class and its up to you to put them to good use. He's a funny guy but don't expect him him to hold your hand through the class, he believes in preparing you for harder classes.I recc but be ready

definitely a tough professor. took the hybrid course so only went to lack once a week. expect to teach yourself most of the information. very little hand holding as the semester progresses. not the strictest grader but you will get low grades if you don't know the information. overall great professor. highly recommend but don't expect an easy A

The class was structured in a way to force you to learn the material by practicing on your own which I wasn't a fan of at first but later learned it helped me retain the information better. The labs are enjoyable and not difficult and help you actually understand all the different formulas you use. Would take this professor again.

While his class is tough, he was willing to answer any questions you had and his online podcast made understanding the section we were on so much easier. His podcast went more in depth in explanation, especially over harder math problems, so it made learning them a lot easier.

This was my third time taking a class from Dr. Lukacs. He is a wonderful professor who wants his students to succeed in his class and beyond! His lectures were very informational, and he enjoyed diving deeper into topics students had questions about. His knowledge and passion for chemistry are evident in how he teaches and supports his students.

Dr Lukacs was honest about having to work hard to do well, but he encouraged me every step of the way. I had some personal challenges this semester & he showed he cared. He is also funny & lighthearted which made me enjoy class. He never made me feel dumb for asking questions. I wish I had the chance to take his class again because I totally would!

Listening to lectures AND taking notes are KEY! Tests DO increase in difficulty/complexity. I took his 7-week class, so there was a test due every week on Sundays. You're only given 2 days to complete it (Sat & Sun) - not proctored but do NOT rely on the internet. No quizzes or HW. Overall, he's a good professor & wants his students to succeed.

Class is a hybrid class and is very self taught, all the information is laid out for you though. He makes his own lab book and has all of his lectures and useful information posted on his website. The class is not an easy A, you HAVE to study and learn the material. He answers all questions you have and you learn sm, highly recommend.

I had Dr. Lukacs for both Intro and Chem 1. Study for the quizzes and tests, labs aren't bad, put in the time and you'll do fine. He really cares and answers all questions.

Tough but fair professor. Expect to put in the work, but you'll actually learn the material. Used unstuckstudy ai along with the free textbook to study - really helpful for quiz prep.

Professor is nice and a good professor be careful with which type of class you pick he also has a hybrid class which is much harder.

Professor Lukacs was a great teacher. His class is challenging and a bit hard. I would take this class if you are ready for a challenge and ready to learn. He explains any questions you have and will try to help you as much as possible all you have to do is put in the work.

Choose this course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate chemistry to be honest, but he made it enjoyable and for the first time, I didn't want to quit a few weeks in. He is a really genuine guy outside of just classroom material if you ever take a second and speak to him. Very knowledgeable in a wide range of topics. I grew to respect him very much. Take it!

I truly cant say enough amazing things about Dr. Lukacs he is an amazing professor. Honestly to be successful in this class you have to do your part because he gives you all the material you need. He doesn't baby you which is a good thing. I worked so hard in this class and it payed off. It challenged me immensely but I would do it again. Take him

He is a different, funny and strict at the same time. He expects everyone to learn and work hard. Read the text. Lectures are online and they saved my life in the class. Take notes of the lectures and practice problems and use them on the tests. Labs are ok. He's very structured and there are no surprises.

Dr. Lukacs was tough but fair and understanding. He wants you to succeed. Follow his study habits and the syllabus and you'll be fine.
