if placed in writing skills do your self a favor and stay clear of DR. Meagher. He is very unorganized and doesn't explain anything. He enjoys watching his students fail by putting them down. Highly recommend to NOT get him.

Horrible teacher not helpful at all. I agree with most of the things posted about him he is very unorganized (at one point we were reading 4 stories at once and writing 2 papers and never finished our "midterm". He gives you no time to write your papers and is no understanding or forgiving and VERY RUDE! Save yourself don't take him!

Dr. Meagher is incredibly rude. I made three appointments with him to discuss my research paper and each time he never showed up. It is unfortunate that I have learned nothing in this class. He is a terrible teacher, and this class was a waste of my time. I recommend taking English 102 with someone else.

I have had a few bad professors, but I think he may top them. He bounces from one thing to another. Very difficult to follow. I'm a history major (bachelor degree) and he doesn't like my writing! Very picky with your writing. Avoid him

I've always heard how OCCC had a good English department but this teacher makes you think it's a living hell. I've had above a 90 average throughout high school in my English classes and I barely passed with a "C." This class will make you fall behind in others. You only do essays-- about two a week.DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS EVEN IF IT IS A LAST RESORT

Nice man. Bad teacher. I did well in his class but I was very much on my own. He was all over the place with his lectures and his assignments. It was ridiculous and very unorganized. However, his grading was difficult which was good because it pushed me to try to do better.

By far one of the worst instructors I have ever had, not clear with his assignments/changes them without notice. His classes are not clear nor are his instructions. He belittles his students in front of the class, god help you if you have an honest question, he will treat you like a five year old.

Definitely the worst Professor. Ever. Do not take him even as a last resort.

He's the most close minded person I have been around, always negative, never encouraging or understanding. Not clear on assignments, assignments are constant along with quizzes, that are so into detail. Has no consideration for others or their feelings.

Meagher was the worst teacher I've ever had. Not clear with anything. When you ask a question is talks about something completely different. If he doesn't like your opinion about something or interpretation of something he will give you a bad grade and act like your stupid. It's his way or no way.I had no idea what my grade was in class til the end

Worst professor!!!

One of the worst I've ever had. I took Givant for 101 and got an A+. I didn't even receive a grade until fall (I took him in the spring) because he marked it as incomplete since he didn't take attendance for the final and thought I wasn't there. Unclear, unhelpful, and belittles students in front of the class and in private. Would not take again.

Professor Meagher is such a confusing professor, lacks clarity. His instructions are all over the place, making the assigned papers extremely difficult. discouraging professor.

STAY AWAY. Professor Meagher is probably the worst professor I've had, not only is he a terrible professor, he is just blunt and rude. He expected way too much out of the class and his students. Sad part is, I did not even choose him as my professor. My advice to you is just leave while you still can it's not worth the pain.

Professor Meagher was the worst professor I ever had. I was struggling to pass and when I asked him for help he never got back to me. He was never specific with anything when he talked.

Stay FAR, FAR away from this Professor! He does not provide clear material and will not help provide clarity. His assignments are all over the place and your never sure what he wants, nor does he tell you. Lectures are just as confusing and he is always right.

The most unclear professor i have ever had. When asked a question he does not provide a clear answer, which does not help. Majority of the time my entire class did not understand what he wanted. Extremely unorganized, do not take a class with him if you do not need to.

Can't really say he's the worst professor I've ever had, that said though he expects way too much out of people. Everything I have done for him this semester has been wrong. He is as deaf as they come and he expects major assignments to be due on a class by class basis. He gets verbally abusive towards students who are struggling,making them drop.

if you don't know how to "Interpolate" you won't pass. If you ask the teacher what is "Interpolation" he explains around the question leaving you confused and frustrated. He makes accusations of plagiarism with no proof, and doesn't care for anyone you doesn't come EVERY SINGLE DAY. My class ended the semester with 4 students left.

He is an absolutely horrendous professor. Nothing you do will be correct and he will not help you to correct it. If you are late or absent expect to be berated. If you ask for advice he will tell you to drop the course.

He is a terrible grader, very unorganized, grades apon his opinion, refuses to share final grades, and if he dislikes you he constantly calls you out. He also tells the grades of other student.

He's probably decent outside of class not being a professor, but as a professor not so much. Very unclear instructions, extremely condescending, and does not take the time to help you as an individual student . Also is an extremely tough grader. I wish I took a difference prof. and i would not suggest him.

Hands down the worst teacher I have ever had. He is unclear, condescending, mean, and down right nasty. Don't sit in front even if you have to take his class, he spits all over. He also just gives out essays like it's nothing, he gives an essay due each class pretty much. He also doesn't grad a thing, if he doesn't like you good luck passing.

he does not know what personal space is- will get in your face if you ask a question. lets you know you aren't as important as you think you are. I dropped him and took the W. if you want to purposely fail take him . lots of essays starting the first week of class.

Went from 25 students to about 5 because no one could learn. Unclear notes. Can't understand what he says. Never heard us. Always assigning things without telling us what he wants or what he's looking for. Insults your work if it's not good enough. Doesn't help you get better or explain what he wants you to do. Overall an awful, and rude, professor

If you need you help there are tutor, he will tell you there aren't go to the library. Very unorganized lost my first quiz and now offered to give me a B for it but now I had no feedback on what I was suppose to be doing. Did not listen to any of my problems and assumed all my questions. Refused to meet me later for help; I was late to my class.

For an English 101 course, this will be a tough class in the worst way. The class operates more like a "how to write" session. He also has the tendency to give out last minute assignments. If you do not follow his formats, you will lose points. However, said formats are written unclearly. If you don't have the patience, don't pick him as your prof.

He is such a nice man. Horrible teacher. Literally can never answer a question clearly and has emailed me on Sunday at 9:15 at night telling the class something is due on Monday... horrible.

Avoid at all costs. Nearly endless papers with needless in-class exercises. Assignments unclear, vague, and oftentimes directly contradictory. When asked for help, he dodges the question and refuses to answer. Routinely ridicules students publicly. Deducts too many points for errors. One error on a paper is about 15 points off on your final grade.

Hes a nice guy but, hes so vague with what he wants from an assaignment. Hes also not very good with feedback on papers since he uses some sort of codes on errors. My math teacher gives better feedback showing what I actually did wrong. Notes are also very messy, he goes on abstract thoughts a lot of the time. Again very nice guy but, avoid

Grading is completely subjective. Constant ranting without proper explanation of what is expected. "Should we do A or B?" "Yes." The first 2 months of the semester we barely had any assignments. Halfway through the semester several students had dropped the class. The last few weeks we had Narrative Research and Final essays all due in a short time

Horrible professor, terrible! Had him my first semester and he told me, "I didn't know how to write papers in English." Which I don't understand AT ALL since English is my only language. Plus he grades heavily! Don't expect seeing any of your papers, the final was horrible, didn't learn anything since he'd just ramble on about nothing.

He talks to tou like you are unintelligent and goes off on tangents a lot.

This guy is by far the absolute worst professor at suny orange. He assigns way too many papers and his lectures are sporadic and have no correlation to the essays and subjects. He's also incredibly rude and talks down to his students. He also assigned a 6 page research paper on the last day of class. On top of that he is a ridiculous grader.

With him being one of the professors Ive had my first year of college, it was the worst experience of my life. He would not only make no sense, he would go off topic a lot and confuse the other students. What he usually assigns is the a fair college level of work, but when he explains it, it never made any sense to anyone in my class. Never again.

Hardest teacher I have had all semester. He is very disorganized, very hard to understand and doesn't explain the assignments enough. He assigns a lot of papers through out the semester and doesn't explain what he wants until he already graded the work. Only allows three missed classes before he drops your grade. He is also a tough grader

terrible teacher. He makes sure to make every class as stressful as possible. I really tried to like him, but I just can't. Some days the class is chill. But most days, everything he says has a rude and angry tone and makes it seem like i'm going to a military boot camp. Lectures are disorganized and not explained properly. He rushes things alot.

terribly unorganized and very unclear. Everything he says just doesn't correlate to anything. Never tells us when an assignment is officially due, you have to ask him to find out. Does not explain assignment requirements properly until after the assignment is supposed to be handed in.

Very tough grader. No matter how hard you try on your paper there will always be mistakes. Takes off many points until you end up with a C on every paper you write. Do not take this class if you care about your GPA.

He is the WORST English professor Ive ever had. He assigns papers that are due the very next class. He takes off points for every little thing. His class is impossible to pass. If you are struggling with his papers, he wont even bother to help you out, even if he sees you are putting in effort. You will REGRET taking any class with this guy!!!!!!

By far the worst teacher at this school. He confiscated my phone like I was in middle and high school! He talks down to his students a lot and even screams and curses at them loudly. Does not care about students' feelings, and to him it's joyful belittling them. Gives absolutely no partial credit and midterm and final is worth 75% of overall grade!

He assigned us novels to read that were hundreds of pages long & would expect a full rough draft the very next day. If you asked him a question he did nothing but rub the fact that he had a PhD in your face & not answer your question. If you want a professor who will make you feel worthless & stupid (& tell u that ur stupid then take this class!)

Nothing he ever says makes sense. It got so bad I had to reach out to a high-up but even then nobody did anything to help. Its a real horrible class, I learned one thing from this class and it was not helpful what so ever. He needs to retired already because hes stuck in his ways and don't care for anything anyone has to say. He is DISRESPECTFUL..

Whatever you do DO NOT take this class. Im not sure how this guy still has his job. He doesnt answer questions and dances around questions. He is never clear on what hes talking about my entire class wanted to drop this course. My entire class never knew what we were doing . He gives papers due every week. And you can never under what he is says

Being a college freshman who is always determined to complete assignments correctly and having this professor as my first teacher is just not really acceptable. I have no issues with the mass amount of papers but I do have a issue with him not giving his full 100%. (Ignoring questions, miss-grades papers, confuses students with strange topics.)

No matter how much effort you put in he always has something to say about it and it is never anything positive. He puts in no effort to teach and just hands us things and expects us to know what we are doing without explaining it. He never knows what he is doing. If you try to email him he will avoid everything you say and not answer what you asked

He is very confusing, doesn't tend to finish his sentences or explain things fully. Chooses one topic overall for the entire semester. Can never hear him clearly no matter wear you sit in the room. Doesn't answer your questions but instead makes you more confused...

Dropped this course/switched to professor crowell after two weeks of classes because we still hadn't gone over the syllabus or actually discussed any class-related topics. he rants constantly and gets extremely off topic within seconds. he has also said some questionable things about students skin color/race/ethnicity in front of them.

Was not flexible or understanding of a students ability to write a paper, had to get a tutor for his class since he was no help at all. Lectures were tiring and un-inspirational, very heavy on writing papers about the environment.
