He goes off on tangents & states "I'll go over that later but..." then spends 10 mins giving you a "brief" that nobody understood to begin with & still doesn't after. Says "Well let me back up" then another tangent. He expects you to know terminology that no prereq teaches you. Overall his class is very choppy & hard to follow.

Professor Miller is ready to retire and it shows! Goes on tangents that are off topic distracting from the lesson yet vaguely & quickly stumbles over important test related material. Says tests are based off his notes yet are not. Refers to anatomy and physiology course frequently assuming everyone has taken class. Demeans students.

Dr. Miller keeps going other tangents, which makes it hard for the students to follow his lectures. Even though he gives you the notes, you should read the book because his exams are not totally lecture-based. The information comes from the book as well. Lectures are boring that many students skip the classes. Pls take someone else!

Ok the last couple reviews have been rough, I didn't think he was as bad as everyone has been saying. Sure, the class is very, very challenging but as long as you study the notes, you should get a good grade. I got an A and didn't even have the book. He gives you the notes, go to class, take additional notes, and STUDY. Gives a small grade bump too

Prof. Miller is a great guy and he runs his class very well. He's been doing this a while so he has figured out all the contingencies that could come up during a semester. You will learn a lot in his class, but it was probably the most difficult class for me that I have ever taken. Every point was necessary for me to earn an A. I studied a lot.

Pros: Provide lecture notes. Cons: Subject material is scattered everywhere within 6-10 pages. Does not follow the textbook layout or have a reference guide (*you could be on ch.1 & then ch.8 in the same paragraph). Lectures 60% tangents, 20% news article clippings, 20% course material. Exams: SA fill-in-blanks are word for words in his notes.

One of the best science professors I've ever had. He is extremely engaging and makes lecture worth going. Material is much more interesting to recall when he uses real world stories. You only need to know what he goes over in class. Used book as a reference. Exams are fair, however you need to study.

Microbiology is rough, professor Miller does his best to make things interesting. I recorded his lectures, rewrote his notes (that are disorganized and hard to follow) and went to tutoring with Will. Those are my tips to you if you want an A. Dreaded lab every night and sometimes he seemed really irritated about you asking him questions.

He provides a borderline bump for your grade. I received above a 100% in his micro class overall. Had him for lecture and lab and got above a 100% in both. Use the book if you want to get an A+, though you can still get an A- without it. He's nice on some days, best to catch him in a good mood. Memorize his lecture notes verbatim guarantees A.

If you don't ask, he doesn't hold your hand. Fair grader, gives partial credit if your logic follows. Genuinely passionate about the material. Doesn't curve. Nice guy.

Professor Miller is a cool old dude. He's a bit hard of hearing and will tell you the first day and every day to speak up. The man knows his stuff. Has a side story to every bit of the course and makes it interesting if your corny like I am. 4 test in class the final not being cumulative but still hard (know your pathways for diseases) take his lab

Lecture was tough, but if you rewrite his notes you'll find everything you need in there. Lab was fun and easy once he had a lab assistant to help him (which I guess he hasn't had in the past). Very straightforward. Four lecture exams and his exams are completely based on the notes that he provides in class which you fill in while he lectures (book not needed). All I did was review the notes and rewrite them and review the terms, microbe, etc. before the exams and I got my A! And he gives bonus points for borderline grade students too.

You'll need more time to study for exam 3&4 (harder exams) and the lab is accumulative (not difficult). Don't take this class lightly, it is very challenging, especially if you work.
