Great Teacher!! The class is really interesting and his personality brings out the best in the material. Great sense of humor! If you get a chance to be in his class, take it!
Solid teacher, pretty funny... really passionate about what he's talking about. Kinda pompus at time, hard to understand his complex sentences that really don't need to be that complex.
GREATEST PROF EVER! looks sorta like comic book guy from the simpson's. he really knows what he's talking about and is incredibly funny...he makes the course fun and unteresting and relative to you! greatest prof ever!
Great Prof. Cant say enough about him. Very funny, relates to young people, talks about up to date matters and is very laid back. Will help you in ANY way possible, and responds to emails very quickly. 1 slight prob. He uses too many thesauras words. Other then that (which is small), AWESOME.
His vocabulary is difficult to understand, but other than that, he is definitely PRO - STUDENT!!!! HE ROCKS!
amazing prof. seems to really about subject matter- but also about his students. hard marker, but also fair. i agree he uses a wide vocabulary, but nothing beyond the reach of senior university students. all around positive and energizing prof to have.
He's hilarious at times, and his lectures are actually interesting. Yeah, his vocabulary isn't middle school level, but he doesn't use words that university students should be unfamiliar with, and whenever he does use a word that he thinks might be foreign to some, he stops to define it.
he has really long hair and plays with it alot and that is kind of distracting. he uses sometimes overly complex explanations but he always explains further.

Very interesting character. Learning some new vocab. Good guy, knows his stuff, can be really funny.
The first day I saw Muzzati I thought a homeless man stumbled into our classroom. He really looks like a hobo. His hair is long and greasy and his clothes are always ripped. I think he is a genius and I love his class and I want to give him a make over
Really BAD Prof!!! During all his lectures, he talks with a lot of complicated words that I bit most of the ppl have no idea wut the heck he is talkin about! Oh man, I think he should be teaching English instead of SOC. Also, He marks really really hard on the essay assignments. What more should I say......
Ok my, where do I get to start? *rubs hands in evil glee* He's smart and sure, he can be "cool" (whatever that one means now) BUT God, I want to nominate him for TLC's "What Not to Wear" already... except I'll wait til AFTER the semester for that one :D His TAs? I think mine marks too harshly. But otherwise, it's a cool class. :)
"big words"- well, this is university people! I thought that the material was helpful and interesting, and I think the TA's are hot!
Says he wants our criticism but gets defensive if you give it to him. His SUPER left position is kind of getting old. Generally a nice guy. Class can be somewhat boring because of the non-stop class discussions where everyone just likes to hear their own voices and he lets it go on forever.
Dr. Muzzatti is a great prof! His lectures are entertaining and very open to discussion. I had his class at 9 AM but never felt resentful for being there just because he made the class enjoyable.
Worst prof ever!!!!! No help and class is really boring!!!!! DROP NOW AND SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE!!!!!!
Muzzatti is very, very entertaining, and obviously quite smart. He's a little over the top and intimidating at first, but I think he's genuinely nice. He'll answer anyone's questions, and clarify things a lot.
This guy is excellent! Makes the class interesting, very funny, and the course a complete joke. You will love his teaching style.

Do NOT take a full year course with him. He was ok the first semester but got progressively crazier over the year. Not saying this to be bitter-I got a really good mark. Says he wants criticism and to discuss differing opinions but goes ballistic if you offer criticism or share opinions which deviate from his own. Can be nice but dont' take class.
Tutorials with the TA were a waste of time and the lectures with Muzzatti were not much better.
If you can handle the constant bombardment of his extreme left wing rhetoric, then this class is for you. Constantly strays off topic with his political rants and opinions that you sometimes wonder if the class you're in is popular culture.
The tutorials aren't helpful. They just go through the green book, but that's just about it. Attend the lectures though. They're helpful -and- interesting.
Muzzatti is a very insightful prof; you won't fall asleep in his lectures. You can get an A if you do the readings and attend the weekly tutorial. The midterm and exam had hilarious questions which were basically bonus marks. I would definitely recommend this course!
Good professor overall, but don't take this class if you're a business student because you will find it hard to think "sociologically" I failed my essay because I had a business perspective more than a sociological one. Still managed a C+ though.
The class is a bit harder for business students but it allows you to think differently which is good. His classes are always interesting and they make you want to go to class but the course itself isn't a bird course, you learn alott
This proff is awesome, his lectures are very useful because you learn a lots so always attend his lectures! Sadly your evaluation and final grade is all done through his TA's which I experienced as tuff, unfair and at times biased. I wouldn't recommed taking this course with this awesome proff because of his TA's!!
Lectures = good. Tutorials = dumb. Not a bad course in itself, but some of the course management issues are stupid. Have do a dumb journal every week, which (imho) is subjectively marked by a TA of questionable sanity. Way too much work for the course, find another liberal. SOC 103 is much better.
Interesting course, I had intentions of dropping the course at least three times each month. Alot of work! Let's just say if you go to LECTURES, readings possibly, and get a good TA then your good. Not a BIRD course... which is stupid. But yeah, I really learned alot esp when i had no knowledge on sociology. good incorporations with business someti
i found this course to be hard... its alot of work and if you get stuck with a bad ta good luck. dont take it unless you want a hard course that lowers your gpa
Don't take SOC 202!! HUGE waste of time wish I could get my money back he teaches the most useless garbage. I can't stress it enough...Dont waste your time and $500 on pure garbage!!
Great Prof- Hes down to earth approachable, good sense of humour but @ same time a no-nonsense type of person. Gets down to business and usually finishes a bit early, but there's a hell of a lot of info. to grasp, but all interesting and helpful. Also doesnt pressure you to participate, good if u are bit shy, but there are participation marks.
Great Prof! cool dude, down to earth approachable, good sense of humour but @ same time a no-nonsense type of person. Gets down to business and usually finishes a bit early, but there's a hell of a lot of info. to grasp but all interesting and helpful. Also doesnt pressure you to participate good if u are bit shy, but there are participation marks
Best Prof Ever.. if you attend lectures and read the material youll get a an A. He is very understanding and keeps the class engaged in his lectures. Highly recommend this class!!
great class..cool TA helps lol nothing overly complex..go to class..crack ur textbook open it helps lol you'll do great lol
Probably the funniest prof ever. Always drops perfectly timed f-bombs.. VERY enjoyable lecture. Recommend taking this course.. not hard and you get many many laughs out of it.
Keeps class really intresting, you have to read the textbook, what he talks about in class is very intresting but does not cover everything that will be on test.
best teacher ive ever had! lovee him
lectures are really important to attend if you want a good mark. entertaining
Hilarious teacher. Listen and take detailed notes in lecture and you will pass the mid term and final with flying colours. Be sure to do some readings for the tutorial aspect cause my TA had quite the foot up her backside. This prof is by far the most jokes!
AWESOME PROF
1 of the best profs at Rye. Not because he's easy (because you WILL have to put in work for your grade) but because he's very passionate about teaching, keeps things interesting, fair, and not to mention hilarious. Refreshing to have a prof who is fun and and kind, while being able to really learn. Must go to class to pass exam, but u will want to!
Reminded me of Jack Black in School of Rock. Unorthodox, but entertaining and interesting prof. Ryerson could use more profs like Muzzatti, nuff said!
Hilarious prof ever. Attend lectures to get the most out of the course. Drops perfectly timed f-bombs. midterm and exam quite easy as long you you get all lectures. you will enjoy this class.
No laptops, no slides. Handwritten notes. Uses very big words. Can be pretty funny, his swearing will keep you wide awake. Forces you to participate and provide your opinion, so pay attention. Essay isn't that long nor hard. Make sure you only say left-wing in your paper, tests, and class participation. Otherwise, he will shoot you down.
BY FAR the best lectures Ive had as a university student were with him. Even though I didnt have much interest in the course at first, he made it interesting for me. Very knowledgeable and hilarious.
I don't know where to start- I have fallen madly in love with Dr. Muzzatti. He is the smartest/compassionate man I know. His lectures blew me away- along with his written publications. Everyone who cares about truly learning should take his classes. Dr. Muzzatti is one of a kind.
Amazing prof. i actually learned a great deal. i would recommend everyone to take a course with him
Amazing prof, really interesting lectures, prepares you well for midterm and exam! go to class and take good notes, and you'll do great
An amazing professor! He can keep the class wide awake and makes everything so interesting. I've never been bored in his class. But you need to attend every lecture of his to be at par with the rest of the class as he doesn't post notes online. Makes you study. Makes you want to learn. Makes you think, again. What a prof! :)
Coolest professor in all of Ryerson. Super intelligent; makes everything very clear, making sure students understand what he is saying. Asks for a lot of participation but as long as you attend his class you are sure to succeed. Definitely recommend his class to all.
Awesome prof, very funny! READ THE TEXTBOOK! 80% of the final is on it and the other 20% is based on in class discussions/videos. Attend ALL of his lectures and you'll get a good grade in the end.
He was such an amzing prof. I enjoyed every single one of his lectures. They were very entertaining and clear. Kept the class engaged and spoke clearly
Very nice prof. Fun, makes class interesting. BUT give a LOT to read, have to attend class and take notes because he does not post lecture notes. Marking is quite hard; he does not give specific guidelines to study, so at the end you have to study everything you read, including extensive notes from class. Hard to remember everything there is.
Really great prof. Keeps you engaged. Must read textbook but then again you have to read a textbook for all the electives. Must attend class but it's worth while. I would definitely take his class again!!!
HANDS DOWN THE BEST PROFESSOR AT RYERSON UNIVERSITY!!! EVERYONE OUGHT TO TAKE PROF. MUZZATTI'S CLASSES!!! HIS KNOWLEDGE IS INCREDIBLE.
This class is really interesting and relatable to young people. That said, you have to attend lectures, take notes and do the readings. But the material is not dry and it is actually very intersting. You watch movies in class, the essay topic is pretty cool and hes a pretty fair marker. Not a tough class but you need to put in the work!
Awesome prof, however I think he marks the assignments a little hard. Another problem is that he does not post any slides of his lectures up, you must take hand written notes of is lectures and if you don't attend you're going to do bad. I wouldn't take him again due to no slides and mandatory attendance if you want to do well.
Best prof ever. Sucks that he doesn't post slides but it forces you to go to class which for monday 8am are not that bad! He's really laid back and the tests were average if you read your notes and easy if you studied a couple times.
The best professor I've ever had. Easy if you do the readings and take notes in class (if you don't, you won't pass). A lot to read, must go to lectures, but that is not a problem as you probably will want to go to class. I'd take his classes over any other any day of the week.
Strict and intimidating at first but really interesting and helpful. Assignments and exams are straightforward. Need to attend lecture to get all information. Funny guy as well!
amazing prof, cant use electronics but its worth it. He is an easy marker and very fair with the exams. All multiple choice and super easy mini assignments for easy marks. He is funny and makes the class worth attending to.
Such a fun class. Intimidating at first and almost wanted to drop the course but I am really glad I stuck with it. Very passionate about sociology and is very entertaining. Always looked forward to his class. Pretty easy marker, but must do readings. Exams are all multiple choice and pretty easy. Likes to put in joke questions for bonus marks.
Seriously one of the best profs I've ever had. He's funny, keeps it light & interesting and uses good examples in class. If you attend all lectures and do the assigned readings, you'll be cruisin'
BEST professor ever, but their are few blackboard posts, you HAVE to go to class there are no lecture ntoes
Amazing teacher!! Teaches with enthusiasm, moves about the classroom and keeps it interesting. Fantastic delivery method, helpful, clear instruction, and keeps the attention of students with his hilarious jokes and stories. Would recommend him time and time over!
Amazing teaching technique, very animated. Hilarious and swears in class often. Attend class regularly. My least boring class this semester! Not the most clear on the information he gave us which was often irrelevant to the textbook. Included a few key words on the midterm exam that he never taught! Overall, good experience.
Great professor! Sociology isn't something i'm interested in but i like his sense of humour adding interests to his lectures! He always made the class laugh! Pick him if you can!
He is amazing he made me love this class so much, he so enthusiastic, you have to go to his class to learn, his final exam was all MC and so easy the entire course finished within 30 min to an hour so very easy. Love this professor
You must attend his lectures!! He doesn't post anything online, but his lectures are really clear, funny and enjoyable. I actually learned some of the key concepts as he explained them for the first time. He's really funny and you won't regret having him for Soc!
His expectations for this class was that of an individual doing there MBA for sociology. the novel was impossible to understand and while he keeps his lectures funny and interesting, your writing none stop cause he just talks and your expected to write what he says word for word. Hes a tough marker and his tests are hard. dont take this class
Egoistical. His jokes are sub par and his need to call people out is annoying. This is not an easy A class, so be prepared to put in work or take another course. He assigns random in class group assignments as well. & don't take out cellphones/laptops, you wouldn't want the old man to blow a gasket.
Horrible. After this class, I will never take another sociology class again. If you're not a sociology student, AVOID this class and this professor.
The highlight of my first semester was this class, his lectures were hillarious and interesting and his tests are easy as long as you attend lectures and do the readings, highly reccomend taking a class with this prof, learned alot and would gladly have a class with him again
This is probably the best sociology professor I've had. He is so enthusiastic about the material, especially in a class with dry introductory content! He doesn't like technology AT ALL, so you need to be there to learn. If he catches you texting he isn't afraid to call you out- but honestly BEST professor I've had. Will take all his clases!
Best professor thus far! He has made every lecture interesting regardless of the content. it is obvious that he cares about the success of his students and his examsmarking schemes are an easy A I found.
My favourite prof so far! His lectures are hilarious and very informative, although sometimes he moves fast and it may be a little difficult to keep up. If you attend lectures frequently your guaranteed a pass. His midterm and exam were super easy, all multiple choice and based on the lectures. overall great class!
This professor's lectures are amazing! He gives great examples that illustrates his points very well and make it easier to remember content. He is also extremely funny, which keeps your attention. There is a lot of information to remember, but it is mostly from the lectures, not so much the readings. Very few and straightforward assignmentstests.
One of the best professors I have had. Great lecturer, very straight forward and fair. Once you know what he is looking for - you are golden. So long as you do all the readings and come to lectures (must take notes) it is easy to get an A with him. Those who don't plan on reading or coming to class should avoid him. Would take his class any day
He is an amazing prof who is funny, but more so, makes you want to attend class. If you are looking to go to lectures which fly by with interesting information, he is your guy!! He does pick on people in class, but he asks the easiest questions. Don't miss the lectures because the tests are based on them.
Midterm and final exam were completely multiple choice. Course material was interesting and the delivery was hilarious, makes you love going to class.
I took this class because of the positive ratings but screwed me over, it's heavy readings and his short answer questions are easy but never able to get full marks even when you think you memorized everything. He said because everyone did well on the mc he would weight them more but the next mc was hella hard (so i don't know what he was trying)
Great prof. gives excellent and interesting lectures.
Amazing prof, very clear lectures.
Amazing guy. Knows his stuff and puts on the some of the most engaging lectures I've ever attended. Assignments and tests are dead easy if you just read over your notes once or twice and attend class. Very approachable.
This guy's the biggest beauty at Ryerson. Like a bigger beauty than me..... if this isn't concise and specific enough then you're hopeless in your future endeavors.
The Best!!
loved this class! would definitely take again
super smart and funny, will take again.
For a class with almost no slides or media, his lectures are interesting and engaging. You'll have to read a bit but its very fair and a lot is skimable. Close to nothing is posted online you'll have to show up. Little projects are done throughout the term for attendance marks. Really nice guy if you need help.
I like sociology and the material, but the way Dr. Muzzatti teaches just drives me up the wall a little bit. Some people found him funny, but I found him unbearable as a person and couldn't handle the sarcasm and dry humour he used to teach. He knows what he's talking about though.
Funny. Explains content very well and at a good pace. Even if he may not use powerpoint slides, his lectures will still stick with you.
Prof Muzzati is super chill. His lectures are really great, and I personally enjoyed them a lot, even though it was an 8 am class. He made it funny, enjoyable and interesting. His lectures are key, so if you want to truly understand the course go to class, he covers a lot, and a lot of what he talks about in class will be in the exams
I'm really surprised by how much other people like Dr. Muzzatti. I found his lectures to be extremely slow, dry, and not engaging. I didn't think he was funny. Yes, all the tests are multiple choice, that's because it's 100x easier for them and he doesn't have to mark. He wasn't terrible but I wouldn't say he is a good teacher by any means
Muzzatti was a really good teacher and you can tell he cared about what he taught. He does not post any slides online and does not use really any technology in the class. You need to go to the lectures in order to understand everything perfectly. Lots of textbook reading and secondary source reading. Tests aren't too hard if you study for them.
Great professor! would take another one of his classes
If you are not a soc major, his advanced classes are very difficult and heavy on understanding sociological theories. Short answers are difficult. You must attend class as PPTs are never posted and are not allowed to use laptops to write notes. If you do not participate every class, your grade for that component will probably be 3/10.
Most annoying prof I've ever had. He's super against using technology in class which I can understand but at the same time I don't think using a laptop to take notes should be such an issue. This class really reminded me why I don't like sociology and his sense of humor gets really old really fast. I hope I never have him as a prof again.
You must go to his lectures, but that wasn't a problem because they were fantastic. He is passionate about sociology, and uses amazing analogies/ examples so that his students can learn. My TA sorta screwed me over with my mark, but Muzzatti himself is a fair and caring guy. No electronics allowed, but that didn't stop me from loving his class!
Stephen is a funny guy who is very unpredictable. He is truly what you think of when you think of a sociology prof. His assignments were very easy but his midterms and exams are a little tricky because he sometimes forgets that he didn't teach something. Otherwise, cool guy with cool vibes.
Amazing. Great lecture discussions. Fair grader
great prof. Fair grader. Great discussions
I wasn't sure what to expect when entering SOC105, but Muzzatti made it worthwhile and I'm so glad I took the course. Although the lectures had a lot of content which was on the midterm and final, he always tried to engage the class and make it funny. He's a great guy and I would definitely take a class with him again.
Muzzatti has great lectures that are very clear in what is important for the mid and final. He doesn't use slides but if you go to his lectures, you don't even have to use the textbook. He's caring outside of the classroom as well and appreciates honesty if you approach him needing help. He's woke and will bless you with "help" on the final.
Lectures are fun b/c he's incredibly charismatic. You learn a lot and he's happy to take questions or conversation points from students. Essay was straightforward & the textbook is useful. Midterm and exam were all multiple choice but the wording of questions was tricky; make sure you read the textbook and pay attention in class. Would take again!
Great professor who clearly knows the course content well. If you attend every class, and do all the readings it is an easy A.
Took a criminal justice course with muzzatti in the late 90's. He was an amazing teacher and I still refer to many things I learned in that year, almost daily. Spot on with his teachings on crime and deviance and criminal theories.
Muzzatti is such a great prof. He cares about the success of his students and really tries to make lectures enjoyable. He doesn't use powerpoint and doesn't let technology in the room but it's really not that big of a deal. I definitely learned more without being distracted by my phone or laptop and he makes the lectures enjoyable. Would take again
unclear material, opinionated. If he does not agree with you, then will not approve your paper/topic. Changes the topic if class discussions does not go his way or his opinion. It feels like you have to agree with him to get a good grade, I wish teachers were more open to other ideas.
An old-fashioned professor who doesn't use powerpoint or post much online. Discourages use of phones in class and will call you out for it. Teaches well, using lots of examples and analogies to help you understand. However, a lot of the quizzes are based on random content that you either discussed briefly or is a small section in the textbook.
Muzzatti is an okay prof but he does not allow electronics, meaning you are not allowed on your phones or laptops or he will call you out. Also, his lectures consist of him talking for hours and you just handwriting what he verbally says. 3 tests, 3 assignments and tutorial assignments. Tests don't reflect material in class. Makes the course hard
He's funny. Claims he's the best prof you will ever have. Cannot pass his classes without reading the textbook chapters at least 3 times and you have to go to all the lectures. He expects you to know when stuff is due, how to submit assignments, how to use RULA, and all that. He won't answer questions about basic stuff like that so just ask TA.
Loved his class. Had assignments throughout the whole semester worth a little bit each so it was easy to catch up if your mark drops. Best thing about all the small assignments was he had no exam and we had no essays. Definitely lowers stress in the semester.
Definitely knows what he's talking about. Condenses material to make it accessible for first-year students and easy to learn.
There were 3 tests, 3 assignments and tutorial assignments, though marking was mainly done by TA's, his tests were difficult. He's a funny person though and tries to make content easier to understand, but it can get quite heavy, making it hard to take notes (not allowed electronics).
He's a nice guy but the class is lecture heavy. There isn't any specific course outline which makes the class seem really unorganized. You have to take written notes while he speaks, and there are no power points, which makes it difficult to catch everything. His tests are hard and include irrelevant material from the textbook.
He's a really good professor. Ensures that you understand in tutorials but the assignments can be very difficult. You have to have really good TAs to do well in them.
He was pretty chill. Knows his stuff, but you have to write everything he says since he does not permit ANY electronics. Overall though, he was a great prof. and makes the class bearable. Just do you readings and remember the points he talks about in lectures because they were prominent in his quizzes. No exam which was amazing!
Professor Muzzatti in general makes his lectures interesting. You'll never find a person falling a sleep. No exam however, all the quizzes were too complex because he asks random questions from the textbook never covered in class. Therefore, if you don't have the textbook memorized chances are you wont do well.
Best professor! His jokes and whit make 3 hour lectures fly by. - Doesn't post lecture material on D2L so you must attend class - Doesn't allow laptops or phones, so you must handwrite everything (at first that scared me, but I have come to appreciate it) - Speaks slowly and clearly while lecturing so the students fully grasp the concepts
No laptops in lecture, but he will keep you entertained and wanting to listen. Amazing lectures, no exam or final paper. But you gotta go to class and do the reading. Easy A if you do. 10/10 would recommend.
No laptops or phones allowed whatsoever. His lectures are ok, but the quizzes are insane. They're based off random facts from the textbook never mentioned in class and unless you memorize the textbook you're not gonna do well.
I found that the midterms were on the most random things in the textbook. If you cant memorize random facts of the textbook good luck. His lectures are rants that do not really matter for the midterms. If he mentions a name once though that is what hell use on the midterm not the thing he spent an hour talking about. Didnt like the class
In this course you will experience heavy use of the textbook, all exams and questions on the exam are from the textbook. His lectures give some insight to main concepts but I mostly had to teach myself the course. Honestly wouldn't recommend him as a prof and wouldn't take this course again. When he says chapters 4-7 are on the exam he means 8-10.
Great prof! One of my favourites. a little monotone sometimes but he's really nice and cares about his students. Doesn't allow laptops, written notes only so make sure you make a friend to share notes if you miss class. Easy A. All quizzes multiple-choice, final exam only worth 15%. Basic readings from textbook. I really enjoyed Muzzatti's class!
I am personally not a fan of social science so it was kind of an annoying course to take but I still got a decent mark. All tests were multiple choice, including the exam which was only 15%. I am happy I took this course since I learned about a lot of social issues I did not really take the time to think about in the past. Very eye-opening.
Professor Muzzatti really wants his students to succeed. You have to understand his humour or you may think he's being rude. Personally, I find him hilarious. He gives great lectures that are very engaging. No laptops, so as a 4th year student, it was kind of weird. He means well though, and is a pretty easy grader. Tests are multiple choice.
This prof is truly a gem. He wants his students to succeed and will provide you all the necessary tools to do so. He responds to emails quickly and posts grades less than a week! This course requires work so do not slack but If you do what's expected, you will do extremely well!
Prof. Muzzatti was pretty absent while online, most of the work came from the textbook. The grading criteria were very fair and as long as you follow the instructions you will do well. He is very kind and accommodating with time on assignments. Tests were fully multiple-choice and completely based on the textbook readings.
Literally have no clue who this man is. Took his class this semester online and he never did a live zoom, barely introduced himself, or even posted pre recorded lectures. From the small email I exchanged I believe he is a nice man and it is a very easy class.
The course itself is fairly easy and interesting but I really wish the professor did at least pre-recorded lectures bc he did not engage with the students other than through emails and office hours. however, he seems nice through email. I really liked my TA but I felt like I learned more from tutorials than I did from the PowerPoints.
Honestly have no idea who this man is, no zooms or pre recorded videos or anything. Class was pretty easy tho, just do the readings and go to TAs if you need help. I have NEVER interacted with this prof which is a bit odd
Dr Muzzatti is a knowledgable, responsive, and supportive prof--highly recommend taking SOC319 with him! 32% of marks were from weekly discussion questions and the rest were from tests. If you do the work that's asked of you (which is quite interesting and not difficult), you will excel in his class.
Never met him, everything is mostly done through the TA, so pray that you have a good TA or else you're pretty much on your own for this course. Hopefully it changes in the coming semesters. The content is easy, just take notes from the textbook and you should be fine for the exam and midterm. Assignments are vague, so ask your TA questions.
I have nothing but positive experiences thus far learning under Dr. Muzzatti. I really appreciate how he asks "okay are we good?" before moving on to the next concept during his lectures. He tries to learn the names of his students, has compassion and a good sense of humour. He has also been understanding and respectful about IEPs.
Muzzatti is an awesome prof and his lectures were super engaging. Tests are based on his lectures, his readings and a lot of other things he mentions in class. His class is an easy A if you do the work just complete each reading as assigned as they are always in the tests. Easy assignments!
Amazing prof! Definitely do not miss class, there is stuff in the lectures that is not in the textbook that will be on the exams. Also, it's just a waste not to go because he's a great lecturer! He's a caring guy with a great sense of humor, highly recommend taking class with him if you get the chance.
Professor Muzzatti made the lectures enjoyable and not dreading and he's hilarious. He is not the one who marks the assignments, pray you get a good TA because they are pretty tough. This class consisted of 3 assignments that were pretty difficult, to me at least. in-person exams, both exams were all multiple choice, study and you'll be just fine.
He was a nice guy. But honestly I would never take his class again. During his lecture he doesn't have a slide show to follow. So you just have to type what he says. He post the slides up, but they are only available for 24 hours. The assignment weren't hard but its all depends on your TA. And all submissions must be printed and handed in-person.
you will be reading nearly the ENTIRE textbook! it will seem excessive but you learn a lot! he's very engaging and keeps the lectures very interesting. he gives great examples for sociological terms and concepts. Very understanding but attendance is mandatory if you want to do well! veryyy fun course, I recommend it highly :)
Muzzatti is alright. Lectures can be boring at times, as you have to take notes as he is talking. Slides stay up for a limited amount of time, which can be a burden sometimes. In his course, I'd say the TA matters a lot, so I was lucky to get a good TA (Calvin), who made the course so much more fun and was also a fair grader.
Get ready to memorize the entire textbook... His exam questions often included direct quotes from the book as well as from his lectures that he wouldn't put in the slides. Lectures were always interesting but you do have to take note of almost everything he says. There are quite a few assignments and tutorial attendance is mandatory.
Do not take this class if you want a good mark. Teaches you unnecessary stuff and you'll need to know the textbook. The assignments were annoying and weird. His lectures are interesting but barely have anything to do with midterm/exam. If you want to take SOC105 take it with a different prof. This class will stress you out and bring down your GPA.
Content is really interesting & lots of in-class discussions. Textbook is mandatory as much of the content is based on it. Prof puts on an act that he is going to be strict and no BS but he is actually nice and sometimes even funny. Just dont get caught on your phone because he gets pissed at that. Midterm and final are multiple choice only
Great professor no complaints. Just do readings!!!
The best professor I've ever had. Took his class in my final year of study, and it was such fortunate to finally find a prof who is knowledgeable, funny, humble, and sees the world in the same way I do. His amazing lectures provide a wealth of general knowledge about society and global politics. Highly recommend and trying to get connected.
lectures are engaging, has a "no phone" policy during lectures, keep up with readings from textbook. midterm and final were pretty tough but multiple choice, study as much as you can from the textbook, go to the lectures. have to submit assignments in person and online. Tuts worth marks, all marking done by the TA. He doesn't give an exam outline.
Dr. Muzzatti is overall a good prof. He takes the time to learn the names of students who participate in class. It is important to attend lectures but you could probably get away with missing a few. My only complaint was exams. No matter how much you study you won't be very prepared. Questions are very specific, things you wouldn't think to study.
Literally so much fun. First class I took associated with criminology and he made it interesting and incredibly though provoking. For this class there was only tests and participation marks, but the tests are super easy as long as you go to class and do the readings. I would have him as a professor again if I could.
Clearly explains ideas. Midterms and exams are multiple choice. Get ready to read, read and read. Even after studying everything, some questions on exams will trip you. No electronics allowed in class except for taking notes. Liked almost everything except the dual submission on paper and online. Gradings done by TAs.
This professor covers a lot of interesting content, but the exams can be tricky. Definitely do the readings and take advantage of tools like Unstuck ai to prepare. Attendance is mandatory, but the lectures are engaging if you stay off your phone.
Prof is very interactive, lots of interesting class discussions. Very lecture heavy, big on attendance and takes down his slides the next day. Will need to know textbook inside and out. Has a no phone policy and will call you out. Doesn't give clear instructions for assignments or exam, will need to rely on a good TA. Overall an interesting class
Horrible. Literally choose any other professor for this course.
very engaging and interesting lectures, made 8 am class berable. the assignments were horrible, gave very vague explanations on what to do, the ta had to clarify things more times than they should have needed to. if you don't read the textbook you may be screwed. he tests everything he mentions or posts so take notes.
most of his tests are all about the textbooks, even the parts you'd think don't matter. you need to know everything you read.
For an 8am class, I had a lot of fun! PROS: 20% just for attendance in tuts, fairly easy to understand concepts. CONS: chapters are fairly long and you will be tested on even the niche material. He does come across as mean at the first class, BUT, was my funniest prof of the semester. Would take more of his classes. Engage, you'll do fine!
The course itself isn't too hard. It's annoying that you have to submit assignments both online and in person. The midterm and final are mostly textbook based and a few references to videos we watched in class. Classes are interesting in context but mostly useless in terms of tests. Only thing I really hated was he's moody and has anger issues.
This class wasn't bad, I found the prof kind of funny personally. Attendance at tuts is mandatory but otherwise it was a pretty good class. I knew most of the content but it was still engaging. One caveat is that he added random stuff I didn't think to study for on the exam and midterm
- He is pretty funny and passionate so that's a plus - BUT when it comes to answering questions he has a tendency to make the person feel slightly dumb; even if they were just clarifying something - if you want to do well do the readings but if you just need to pass focus on attending the lectures and watching videos and articles he emphasized
He teaches well and his teaching style kept me engaged. He's eccentric in a good way and was funny. I feel like his TA's mark harder than he would and that's irritating but just try your best and that should be enough.
Dr. Muzzatti was an amazing prof. He genuinely cared to see his students succeed, especially when you approach him after or before class with questions. He seems a little intimidating at first, but he's really quite silly and incredibly knowledgeable about his field. Would take again for sure!
recommend attending his lectures, as the test material covers both lecture content and the textbook. His lectures are engaging but his tests can be a bit confusing.
