I've heard Nicoloff is great at teaching trig but his Calc class is extremely difficult. I have struggled with this class more then any other, and I have gotten A's in all previous math classes. His test are hard and hw is tedious although he is such a great guy, I wouldn't recommend him for Calc

I think he is an awesome teacher and very helpful. I took this class with a previous teacher which I got an F in the class, the folloing semester I took it with Nicoloff and I got a B. He was very helpful everytime I asked and patient too.
I took Nicoloff back in 97 for an Math class and he made sense...sometimes. i then came back to take this seriously and the Calc class I hardly understood due to the pop quizzes he gave. Even though he expected us to know it, I guess we pretended we did. I would never attend another class of his again. And I will let others know of that also!

although he is an awesome guy his class is very challenging. It's either sink or swim. he is very by the book. All of his exmples come from the book. he explains to the best of his abilities, but for most it's not enough. i wouldn't recommend him for calc unless you don't want much explaination and you have a very strong trig background.
Don't take with him.
Math is a tough subject for students and teachers. Nicoloff is one of those rare real life teachers who communicates excellently with his students. Here is a teacher committed to helping you succeed take advantage of that when you can get it.
Hes tough, its either sink or swim.
Nicoloff is a very nice teacher with a good personality. He is extremely helpful, and is very good at teaching the daily material. Unfortunately, the exam questions seemed to have a majority of far more difficult questions (limits, e) than the daily practiced problems. This often left even the hardest working/studying students lost on the exams.
He is a very nice guy, and I think that he really tried his best but he did not seem to get through to me or most of the class as the avg grade at the end was a D+. This was my first and hopefully last C ever. I would not take a class with him again unless I had a strong grasp of the concepts already. Good Luck.
Take with him...
An okay teacher and a nice guy I suppose, but the tests suck. I took MAT 151 with him, which was basically a class I had already taken in HS, yet I got a B due to his f*cked up tests. Overall, not that bad although I wish he gave out better study guides. Also, I fell asleep in class all the time, it was quite boring.
Excellent teacher, I would recommend him to anyone
Amazing teacher! Does a great job teaching and doesn't waste class time in stories and gossip like some another Math teacher!
He's such a great teacher. Math, in general, is not my forte. And although i passed his class with a C, i still learned something. haha He's very helpful and holds a lot of review sessions. His tests are quite difficult but if you do his practice problems, you are sure to do well in his class. He also gives points for being actively involved.
Goes over the topics so quickly you won't even have time to comprehend before he gives you even more information and then again more. He tells the class doesn't teach it in my opinion. Nice guy though.
horribly unbelievably fast. does not review anything in class, expects all the students to already know the material. tests have almost nothing to do with what we learned in class. hes a nice guy but needs to learn now to teach
He is horribly and so unbelievebly fast there is just no possible way of ever learning anything in that class. he is so unfair and too lazy to give any real homework out so the entire class revolves around doing 300 homework problems off Webassign.we never get to go over anything. he expects all his students to already know everything on their own
I was so glad that I passed PreCal with a B! He is friendly and will help. He also will explain the material.
MAT151(FLEX) I rate Prof. Nicoloff exllnt for the flex course because he gives instruction throughout every class meeting. Tests are the next day upstairs at admissions building exept for final. My other flex course had maybe 2 hours instruction for the whole semester. All homework is online and up to you. Thats the tough part.
He is the worst techer ever. He does not care about his students and how well they perform. He goes really fast when teaching and expects you to know what he teaches. He gives you a TON of homework problems online and never reviews anything. If you have his class you will hate your life, if possible get a different teacher. do whatever you can...
if not good at math don't ever take online! definitely willing to help. if struggling after first test definitely drop within the dates.
Dr. Nicoloff is a great math teacher with a sense of humor making it fun to learn. He is very thorough and clear when it comes to explaining the material however, if you are not good at math DON'T TAKE SUMMER CLASS, to much material in very little time. He is very understanding and down to earth if you show him sincere effort and respect.
Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy. As for a teacher though, my friends can explain the material to me within 20 minutes than a week of his lectures. The homework is an OVERLOAD. Literally had 6+ hours a week. He's extremely helpful, but the way he explains it is so contradicting. Nobody in the class got an A. Average 72. Does that say something?
incredibly bad, he will not respect your homework which is the larger and takes more time, than his tests, also he will not respect your effort and participation in class.
The work load is so much! He spends so much time lecturing there is no time for questions and you are completely lost and confused. His tests are impossible to pass! The average class grade was a 74%! You don't want him as a teacher!! I withdrew from his class by the deadline and instead of giving me W he gave me an F!
Terrible class. I would never recommend Dr. Nicoloff to anyone. Our homework is extremely long, and the test only tangentially relates to what takes hours and hours to do. No scored above a B on any test thus far, and MOST failed. I've never had such a terrible teacher, really, NEVER -- who fails more than 1/2 the class?
Horrible teacher. He gave an unrealistic amount of homework, which ultimately resulted in me doing worse in my other classes. His tests were hard and 15-20 pages. They took all of the 2 and a half hours of class, if not more. Although he is willing to help the students, I would never recommend him.
He always asked us if we had any problems with the homework, and most of the time he works the problem out. He's open and easy to get in touch with, but ONLY if you have skype, etc. If you want to talk face to face, then forget about it. He's rarely at his office.
Took this as a summer class & basically had no life. Tons of homework after a 3 hr class. I think the difficulty comes in the amount of material to cover in such a short time. BUT I thought Nicoloff did a great job. He was very helpful - always covered questions emailed to him about the homework the next day. Very positive w those struggling.
HOMEWORK HOMEWORK DID I MENTION HE GIVES TONS OF HOMEWORK DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. HOMEWORK.
people say the homework is overload but that was the only way I learned everything I needed. He would often leave out sections during the lecture because of how much time he spent answering questions.
Professor Nicoloff is a great instructor. He is very deliberate getting his point across. If you don't understand something he is very unerstanding and will go over the material again until you are satisfied. He will make time to help you one on one if you ask for it. He really does care if you understand the material. Overall great instructor.
Worst teacher ever!
HE SMACKED ME FOR HOMEWORK WHILE DEALING TONS OF HOMEWORK. DID I MENTION THE WORD HOMEWORK BECAUSE HE GIVES SO MUCH HOMEWORK ITS STUPID. Also his tests are very hard.
Very nice and friendly demeanor makes class enjoyable. Homework load is heavy but helps prepare for tests. always available for help, patient and thorough with questions.
He is very knowledgeable about the subject and is always willing to help clarify any questions.I'm glad I had his class and passed with an ok grade. He was always in a good mood and would tell a few interesting stories or jokes to keep us interested.would recommend!make sure you do the homework so you can do good on quizzes each week and the tests!
Very difficult class. I had at least three hours of homework every time I attended the class, a quiz almost every week and regression projects every few weeks. Professor Nicoloff is an extremely nice guy, but has trouble getting his students to understand the material. Tests are extremely difficult, make sure to study a lot!
Good teacher, biggest issue is the large amount of homework
A lot of homework but it's all on the tests. Just have to be organized and disciplined and you will do fine.
This class is difficult by design. Professor Nicoloff's mission is to make you succeed. He teaches several levels of math and is very knowledgeable in all. Expect a quiz almost daily, nothing difficult, but something to judge how the class is absorbing. Do the homework. He assigns a fair amount, likely on webassign. I will take him again for Calc 1
If you want to take a College Algebra dont choose this guy. He does not explain things very clearly at all and you better like homework because there is a lot of it. I feel like this class is an online math class because he uses my math lab which he basically lets you figure it out for yourself on my math lab. It feels like an online class!
He does not explain anything and expects the homework to teach you what he should be teaching.
If you don't have an extra 2-4 hours in your week besides his class dont even bother taking his class because he uses mymathlab and expects most of that to teach you. Unclear with what he is teaching and goes too fast sometimes. Test reviews are useless. Nice guy, just not meant to teach. Coming from a kid that has only had B's or higher in math.
If you want to show up and pass, this is absolutely NOT the right class. He does not teach well but expects you to know the material first hand. Kind of lazy with teaching. The amount of homework is significant which doesn't allow you to even study. Although he is nice he doesn't know how to teach. He just writes math on board, no lesson plan.
Hated this class. So unclear and does not explain a thing. Don't know what I'm gonna do.
Now im though final weeks and already hate this class. Though he was good.
Professor Nicoloff is not a teacher who makes you work so you understand the material. He taught us clearly, and even when I had trouble understanding , I asked for help and he helped me understand. I feel that this class was better with Nicoloff. (Gives great feedback if you ask. Also remember the tutors in the LSC building also are a great help)
Pathetic. That's all.
Hardest class I've ever taken. Terrible teacher. If you want to pass do not take this teacher.
He's a really nice guy, just not a great teacher. He makes it seem super easy, and talks as if its 3rd grade math, but it isn't. I had taken precalc in high school the semester before and got a B, this class is a step down and I got a C. There are no notes, he just does problems all period and tells you you font need formulas when you really do.
This class is very difficult. Theres a large amount of homework. Expect at least 5-6 hours a week if you decide to do all of it and get 100%. His lessons are just him doing homework problems the whole class period. Tests are way harder than homework. After the 4th test, average grade in the class was a 58%. willing to help, wouldn't recommend tho
Mr. Nicoloff is a good teacher, math is a hard subject. This is a HARD class. That being said if you have time to solely focus on this class, do it. Not something you will want to take with a big work load or lots of other classes. Ask for help, he is more than willing. Tons of homework, but are able to extend the deadline.
Dr. Nicoloff doesn't engage much in his online class. All work is taught through My Math Lab. The amount of homework is intense. He offers no curve, no lowest grade dropped, no extra credit, etc. Exams are proctored in his online class. He doesn't respond to emails over the weekend and when he does respond, you can't understand him.
Does homework problems on the board and thats it. Really thats it. NO TEACHING!!!!!!!!
He's exceedingly difficult and does not help at all, my you entire class is floundering and his only answer is "do the homework" but none of us have any idea how to do any of it, many have resorted to study groups and those aren't really as successful as we'd like, if you're not sure you're amazing at calculus, don't take this class
I never liked math and never got an A in math but I did earn one in Nicoloff's class. He does lecture the WHOLE time so it can be boring, but he is very helpful.
I do not enjoy math and find many lessons difficult. Mr. Nicoloff is a fantastic teacher! He is helpful, patient, and he truly wants you to understand and succeed at math. Highly recommend!
Do not take his class. I should have gotten the hint to drop his class by the students that disappeared around me. A class filled with 30+ students dwindled down to 5 stundents come the final week. Bad at explaining. Judgmental. Boring. Hard grader. I had one of the best grades in the class.. and it was a D.
Everything about his class was okay except the tests. They were BRUTAL. My class started with 30 people, and by the day of the final, there was maybe 4 including myself. But I put in the effort and he ended up giving me an A even though I probably should have got a B. His tests are so insanely hard, no extra credit at all, but it's not impossible.
I also took his MAT182 course during the same semester, got a B in that course and a C in this one. He did NOT allow retakes of any of the 7 tests (70%) or 10 quizzes (10%) in this course, which was strange as he did allow one retake in the 182 class. Pop quizzes were true surprises and frequent. Cumulative final. Had to write 4 multi-page papers.
I took both his MAT182 and MAT150 classes concurrently, got a B and C respectively. 10 pop quizzes (15%), 3 tests (47%), Final (23%), HW (15%). He expected you to self-teach the material before class via text/video/online hw. Minimal class interaction, questions seemed to fluster him. Very strict due dates in 150 yet allowed many extensions in 182.
He is a very smart man but not a good teacher, there is a quiz every other class and the tests are hard. he expects you to just know everything and doesn't stop when he is going to fast. although Outside of class he is very helpful , its very hard to keep up.
He is a helpful teacher, but you have to ask him for that help if you don't understand something. The class moved quickly and there was a lot of homework and information thrown at us quickly. He made it a habit of being available for us even at 10pm on a Saturday night in my case. In class time+out of class time I spent 9+ hours every week to pass.
MAT150 was difficult but I also didn't apply myself like I should've. Dr. Nicoloff was helpful throughout the semester and if you needed help he'd always be in his office and answer q's in class. The class moves very quickly and he starts teaching another chapter before you take the prev test & each class was 2+ hours. POP QUIZZES EVERY WEEK!!!
Anybody who talked trash about this teacher obviously did not do any homework or showed up to class. He teaches very well and will show you how to do it if you do not understand it the first time he explained it. He does give out pop quizzes but if you did the H.W then they are easy. And he doesn't give you a ton of H.W. either. Great teacher
Really solid teacher. Homework is done through MyMathLab and there are two sections due between each class. He gives partial credit on tests for questions that were on the right track which is very helpful. Always offering his office hours to help students. Tests were on paper, which made things a lot easier and homework had soft due dates, awesome
If you aren't great at math already, this class wont help you get any better. He goes over the material at an extremely fast pace, making it difficult to keep up. There are videos for assignments you'll solely rely on. There is a quiz every other week, so I highly suggest not skipping class If you do decide to take him.
Good professor, had for 151 and 182. Enjoyed the class overall.
Prof. Nicoloff encourages you to do well and gives you the resources to succeed, although it is on you. He only covers the basic concepts in class and you might have to get some extra help on harder concepts. He is pretty much always available if you need to reach him and he is happy to help if you ask.
Dr. Stephen J. Nicoloff is a very demanding professor, he gives very brief and simple lectures. He gives you a quiz every week usually, so if you don't do the homework you will likely fail, cause even if you went to his lectures they do not include everything in the homework, you usually need to figure it out yourself or message and wait for him.
Sometimes his lectures were confusing but the availability to ask questions and attend office hours makes up for that. Keeping up with the homework is crucial, not everyone has the ability to get an assignment done that night though and having a quiz most class periods screw over the full-time working students.
Overall a pretty good class with a pretty good professor. Nothing too insane in one way or the other.
He's a fast paced teacher who teaches mostly by examples. Very personable and easy to talk to. Lots of pop-quizzes/tests so keep up with your work. Good at communicating.
He is a tough grader, but he always helps if you have a question. His lectures are very brief and don't cover all the material, so most of it you end up learning by yourself, or by asking him directly in or after class. Don't skip class or you'll fail cause their is a quiz every week, and do your homework or you'll fall behind and ruin quiz scores.
Dr. Stephen Nicoloff was my second math teacher at PVCC and I thoroughly enjoyed having him as a teacher. He cares an incredible amount about each of his students and is always available for any help or questions. Besides just being a great teacher, he is also a very caring and warm person. I would recommend taking his classes if you can!
Dr. Nicoloff is a great professor he really cares about his students and he gives you feedback, he's always available to help. He goes through homework problems which helps a lot. Doing your homework on time helps a lot because of the quizzes in class.
Dr. Nicoloff is a good professor. He cares about students and really wants them to learn. His grading is very fair, even having a little leeway on tests. One thing I didn't like was doing the tests through the pearson online site. It was a very hard grader on the website, but Dr. Nicoloff helped out because the computer grading isnt' perfect
This was my second semester with this prof and I'm so glad I retook his class and stayed with him instead of going to some other prof. Math is my worst subject so it wasn't his teaching that caused me to fail, he's actually incredibly helpful and cares about his students succeeding. He won't give handouts though and you DO have to put in effort.
Accessible outside class Inspirational
This was my first semester with Dr. Stephen and I'm so glad that I was one of his students. Of course I will retake his class again if I need math class in the future, he's incredibly helpful and cares about his students. He wants everyone to be succeeded
Dr. Nicoloff is a very fast paced teacher and teaches mostly by examples. You need to keep up with your homework and the quizzes he gives out each week, so you need to be in class to understand everything. Overall, he is a good teacher and he cares greatly about his students.
ALWAYS available for office hours! LOTS of HW thats due the next class. HW is 100% necessary to prepare you for the quizzes so if you can't finish it, you're screwed. That's why I was failing quizzes but getting As on exams(more time to finish HW and study). Finish the HW the day he gives it and use office hours and you will ace the class.
He was a good teacher, but make sure to take notes and go to every class. It was very easy to fall behind.
The only thing hard about the class was how many chapters we focused on when there was about to be a test. It would have been easier if we would learn the material for a chapter, have the test, and then learn a new chapter.
You need to be prepared to learn when taking this Professor. He is very smart and moves quick. He won't stop and try to explain in depth. He provides you with times he will be in his office if you have any questions. About half of the class dropped by spring break. You can't get by without studying for this course.
Dr. Nicoloff is a great teacher! Im a student athlete and being gone for his class has made it hard to keep up but was always there to let me know what I missed. If I was ever struggling he would suggest tutoring or ask him for help and stop by on his office hours.
Professor Nicoloff has a good lecture, but often times I found him more helpful out of class. Many students also found it hard to ask him questions in class due to the speed and occasional reactions we would get after asking. Going to class will get you through, but homework and studying will get you the grade you want!
Dr. Nicoloff is a good teacher, he can go very fast on a section but still makes himself available to help students and also asks to make sure everyone is following. The times I struggled in the class was when we focused on more than one chapter at a time, and start a new one right away, not easy to pass unless you prepare before. Great experience
His class can be very difficult if you don't take any notes or sleep during lectures. The class is mostly theory with very few examples. The test can be brutal so study everything you can before taking them. Overall though he is a good teacher when you pay attention, and he is always available availed for help if you need it.
If you put effort into this class, you will pass. My number one tip is to do homework before it is due even when there is no penalty. It'll help you on the quizzes and with the next section. He is very available, so if you need help ask for it. Use the resources that are available on campus too. Expect to do work outside of class to be successful.
Mr. Nicoloff was a great math teacher for MAT 151 in particular. He does have a lot of homework but if you follow along with the lectures and do his homework assignments, you should pass the class. He is also readily available to help you out if you are struggling or need assistance. I highly recommend him to anyone!
Stephen Nicoloff is tough, fair but tough. He explains his lessons in a thorough manner but you need to do the homework if you expect to pass. I appreciate his willingness to respond to and help students succeed if they are willing to help themselves, and if I were to take another math course I would like him to teach it
Stephen Nicoloff is a very caring professor that really wants to see his students succeed. It will not be a breeze however because the material that is discussed needs to be practiced in order to do good in his class. I highly recommend doing all the homework assignments and staying on top of them because its easy to fall behind.
Professor is really good at explaining concepts/teaching. Course has lots of hw and pop quizzes.
Having taken this class once before, I can say with certainty if you take Nicoloff you should pass. If you go to class everyday, and do all the homework, you will get an A or B. He is incredibly willing to help you outside of class, and the pop quizzes actually help your grade if you're there to take it. I always felt comfortable in his class.
Professor Nicoloff is always available after class if you are having difficulty. If you have questions about the material he will explain in depth and find different ways to make you understand. Many of the examples were from the text, I would have preferred more in depth explanations and different examples that were not from the book.
Super nice professor, always there to talk/help when needed, class is super homework heavy but as long as majority is done then points are given, pop quizzes every week worth 10pts. Overall great professor
The class was overall ok. Tests were really hard, and notes could be a little bit better. Very fast paced
Really good professor. Teaches well and helps to make sure you understand. It's math so doing your homework helps and it's free points. Very lenient as well. He makes math enjoyable. Will him take again!
Prof, Nicoloff is a math professor who actually knows what he is doing. he understands concepts well and explains them in a practical way that is easy to understand. i honestly enjoyed his class and rarely left feeling confused. Im pretty sure he could teach college math to an elementary school student
Professor Nicoloff is a good teacher but he goes very quick when hes explaining new material. There are also a lot of quizzes and if you don't do the homework you won't pass them. Also there is a lot of homework but he gives you enough time to complete it before the test. He's always available if you need help.
Great teacher, can always go for help.
He does not explain anything and expects the homework to teach you what he should be teaching math.
Dr. Nicoloff was an awesome instructor for MAT092. It had been 11 years since I had taken math, and he was very encouraging and easily accessible. It was nice having a supportive math teacher, that was super supportive and willing to help.
All work is done online in MathAS. He does a good job explaining problems that certain students had trouble with, very knowledgable of the material and willing to help students.
Good teacher. If you need help he will be there for you. Most of the class is basically the homework. If you don't do the homework don't expect to know what's up. You easily pass without even coming to class as long as you do the homework. The lecture is just going over the homework
I took MAT142 last spring (2017), and had some difficult things going on in my family, Professor Nicoloff allowed me to start the class a little earlier so I could keep up - it was online. There are a lot of discussions in the class, and two papers - but we were given real-life scenarios where this math would be used.
Professor Nicoloff fails to provide solid notes in lectures. He simply does copious amounts of practice problems and expects you to catch on without providing the steps. Overall, very confusing teaching technique; leaves much to be desired.
Dr. Nicoloff is a wonderful person. It's clear that he cares about the students and their success. The textbook is not used and all of the homework and tests are done though MATHAS. He does skip around units (you could be working on unit 2 and have a quiz for unit 1) which is the only bad thing honestly. Definitely a manageable class
His MAT151 class is an easy A if you apply yourself. All homework is done online as well as tests which are taken online while in class. Tests will give you a second attempt at questions for partial credit if you get them wrong. Do your homework and practice problems and you'll do fine. Expect to do a little self-teaching though.
Dr. Nicoloff is a super nice guy and very smart. However, he's not my preferred style for a teacher. This is one of those classes where you have to do most of the work and teach yourself the topics. I wish he would provide lecture notes. He gives a lot of pop quizzes. If you work SUPER hard though, you will probably do just fine.
I took him for 151 and 182. He's a great 1 on 1 professor and he is available always. His lectures are fast paced but he goes over lots of examples. Lots of homework so use your time wisely. he offers no extra credit unfortunately but offers lots of outside help.
Very caring and understanding. Taking him for the summer was the best decision I made. Gives partial credit and lots of homework but it is needed. Gives quizzes every week and he tells you that so it is not a surprise. His tests are similar to the homework. An overall great professor.
Dr. Nicoloff was very unclear in his lectures and moved on very quickly whether it was understood or not. He is available after class but for someone that had sports and other things to attend, I just didn't have time. He also frequently takes off points from tests if you don't show exact work. Would not recommend to anyone.
Every night I had to log on to mathas and watch videos and teach myself the material because the four hours a week that he wasted he did not teach me anything. I was afraid to ask for help because of the way he responded. You can tell he never meant bad, but he does not have a clue on how to present the info or how to respond to students.
This man cares and unlike some math teachers Ive had, he has a sense for humor. He makes math very relatable to life and also encourages all of the students and personally never made me feel inadequate. Good guy. Good class.
He is an amazing instructor. Yes the lecture is somewhat dry but my class had interacted with him & made it fun. Has a funny sense of humor & helps alot in study sessions. He wants you to succeed & at the end of the semster he gives full credit for homework, drops lowest quiz grade, & will curve your grade if your close enough. Weekly quizzes(':
Nicoloff is the best professor I've had. He asks us for feedback to maximize our potential. He makes himself very accessible to students. I took this class during the Covid19 pandemic; he handled the situation with ease, always in constant & prompt communication, and adapted to new teaching strategies quickly. Doctorate in education, and it shows!
New concepts only seem hard to those that havent practiced learning them. This class is tough because of the new material, not because of the teacher. He will help you as much as you need but you have to practice the problems to pass. You can do it!
I would not suggest taking him for Trigonometry. He teaches through examples. But then when you ask him to explain it seems like he struggles. He's a nice guy, but a lot of the math he does doesn't make much since. And he treats the math like you already supposed to know it
He is one of the most 1-on-1 instructors I've ever had. If you get a question wrong you can message him and he will respond within 20 min and help you through the problem. On a test if you get the wrong answer but your work is correct he will give you points back. 10/10 would take again!
Took Mat 142, in summer of 2020 online. The professor is amazing. and always available. Even on Father's Day, he responded back to me to help me with a problem. He allowed notes for the proctor mid-term, but for the final, he had his own notes to help you. Since the second half of the class was easier. I suggested that it would be taught first
I had Nicoloff for MAT 142 online this semester and I would not recommend him. He utterly fails in online communication; he doesn't read emails in full, comes across as rude, and is unapproachable when it comes to asking questions. Skip this teacher unless you want to have a distant teacher who can't be bothered to communicate in a friendly manner.
Professor Nicoloff uses a program, MOER, that I very much enjoyed. By allowing multiple attempts for homework questions, he ensures that all students can earn up to 100% on their assignments. He cultivated an environment for learning, rather than memorizing and forgetting. As someone who struggles with math, I would recommend this course!
He is a nice guy but not the most amazing teacher. He goes fast and sometimes teaches the class like it is a review. shows multiple ways to do one problem which makes you confused. However he will help you anytime anyplace. If you stay after and asks questions he will help you. You have to work hard to even pass. But give up getting an A
Hes a very kind guy, but he makes a lot of mistakes, you write a whole page worth of notes and he suddenly realizes that its all wrong, he knows what hes doing thats for sure and he only wants whats best but his students, his teaching style is a bit old fashioned, and it didnt help me learn anything really.
He means well and is readily available to ask questions and for office hours. But his way of teaching was not my style, especially for calc. He does not explain things fully and sometimes gets frustrated when you do not understand him. Almost the whole class dropped by the end of the semester
Took this class online and the resources he provided like Mathispower4U were of great help. He was always available and helpful even outside of his working hours; very kind thing to do. There were multiple exercises for practice, and he offers half points instead of a completely wrong answer. I would really recommend this professor.
This teacher graded my work and gave me a zero even though I know I should have gotten points for most of what I did because I got them right. He is terrible at explaining the homework and is too lazy to even look at your work to grade it properly.
It was an online course, and he did give us the lesson plan on the first day as well as send us messages every week telling us whats ahead. HOWEVER my main gripe is the content. It is literally 15 things due every week! PLUS written assignments and a midterm and final. If you take his class especially online make sure it is your only class!
I was looking forward to this class but unfortunately I was very disappointed by this teacher's teaching style. Very tough on exams and quizzes. Many homework assignments that took me hours to complete. He posts notes of other professors on there which is helpful. However, I don't recommend taking this class. Very very tough
Please don't take this class. His way of teaching is not the best. Gets frustrated very easily if someone asks him to repeat multiple times. If you haven't had this class before in hs or learned it before I would not recommend taking this teacher. You'll get tested a lot and it's out of 150+ every question would be 5 pts. Find a different teacher.
Professor Nicoloff's MAT142 was tough but manageable with dedication. The workload is heavy, but he provides helpful resources like mathispower4u. Unstuck AI also proved useful for study prep. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding class.
Took an online course with this professor. Seems to really care about his students and wants them to succeed! Was helpful and accommodating when needed. He does seem to get a bit short when you ask too many questions though, but it wasn't a huge issue for me. Just be prepared for a lot of work. The workload is absolutely huge so be mindful of that.
Dr. Nicoloff was a fantastic professor. I took his online College Math course. He cares a whole lot about his students and their success. He is a straightforward man. I had questions about my midterm, and he immediately reached out so we could go over it. He then helped me set my Final up to be rescheduled, and personally called the math center.
