Great guy. He is very nice and always ready to help. His lecture test arent bad but his lab test are very tough, but he gives alot of extra credit. Just go to class and take good notes and there is no reason you should fail this class.

Go to class, attend the labs, do your homework, and you will make an A or B. He does assign a lot of homework but your grade will depend on whether or not you do your it so your grade is pretty much on yourself! NICE GUY! Has powerpoint lectures prepared!

Nice guy! I've always had trouble with Biology, but as long as you do the work, you'll be good to go. I took him this semester, and unlike the other comments, he hasn't given us homework this semester... only the labs you don't finish in class. A lot a note taking but easy to understand. Very Nice!!

Very good teacher. he knows what he's talking about. You have to put effort into his tests and make sure you are there for labs. he keeps you the whole class time so if you take him get used to it! he's really not bad at all!

I took this class last semester. I'm not good in science at all so I knew I would have to try hard-I wound up making a B. I didn't do any of the bonus because it was WAY too time consuming. The CD that came with the book really helped me learn. The labs are kinda long but not too difficult.

Fair, easy to understand. Powerpoint presentations are interesting, better than boring overheads! Show up, do bonus, and show some interest in this guys class and you can at least get a C like me.

Totally hot body! Gives biology a whole new look!!! Wants you to do well if you give SOME effort. Made a B and took advantage of all the bonus stuff. Easy on the eyes!!!!

Had him for long summer classes. Even though some days I thought I would die from boredom, he would make class interesting. Very funny, cute stories. Tests pretty hard but he does great reviews. Recommended to all my friends.

Do not take him he only likes girls. He does not know the material. He cant think very well.

Interesting class that he makes fun. He won't ever let you out early but his stories and knowledge of subject matter are interesting. Uses powerpoint with lots of greats pics and info. Highly recommend.

Good Teacher. Teaches mainly from PowerPoint presentations. You will be writing a lot unless you take him in the summer. The test are all multiple choice. I did not have a problem with them, but others did. Lab like all PHS labs at SU suck. Approachable, somewhat standoffish at first, but gets better as the semester goes. I'd recommend him.

If you go to class and take all the notes you will be fine. He teaches from powerpoint and gives you handouts of the notes with blanks that you just have to fill in. He always reviews for tests and the questions are straight from the notes!

He was great! Very funny and loves when students interact. You should come to class everyday in order to keep up with the notes and quizzes. Buy the book ASAP. His homework is sometimes long but it helps you understand.

He is a nice guy, and helpful. You need to study though. I took this my first semester and didn't study much and made a C. He gets off subject a lot in class, and always asked us if anyone had BBQ for lunch? But he was a good teacher. He gives 5 bonus pts on each test if you do 50 notes cards to study with (which is rly helpful for studying)

wow, this class really requires a lot of work yall, most of it was homework. The tests were pretty hard as well. If you do all the labs and homework though, you can still make a good grade, but you do have to work for it :)

Great instructor and interesting. Saw him at beach....wow what a bod! Hard tests but he is willing to help.

Class was fairly easy. I am only making a review to mention that his powerpoints are not as helpful on the test as you may think. He had a 300 question powerpoint for the final, and maybe 30% of the final came from it (but he said otherwise). I made a sucky grade on it, but still pulled off an A thankfully.

Very helpful. I studied and got a B. Having a good highschool biology background helped.

I really enjoyed his class. He is a nice teacher overall. I would recommend you come to class everyday, *BE ON TIME* HE does give 25 bonus points at the end if you are on time. Make sure you do note cards for each test. He gives 5 points for those. PAY ATTENTION IN LAB. Get your notes an everything from blackboard for tests, it helps a lot. :)

WOULD RECOMMEND! Best Bio teacher at SUSCC. Many bonus points. Study guides are almost exactly what is on test. He puts stuff on blackboard too but I never looked at it and still made an "A". Just read over the notes a few times before the test and you will be just fine. Lab Test is easy. Make sure you understand as you tho, chapters overlap. Take!

He's such an amazing teacher! Definitely the best science teacher I've ever had. Gives bonus points for attendance and for making note cards. Extremely helpful. He shows the diagrams we need to know before the test and gives a word for word review sheet. I wish he taught 202!! TAKE HIM!

I loved this class. His tests basically are from the notes, print offs and listening in class. He is really helpful and a great teacher. :) I took the class in 2011.

I loved every minute of his class. You see all these people complaining about his class. But the Mr.Owen is extremely helpful when you ask him questions. He gives lots of extra credit at the end of the semester. STUDYING is key for this class, your grade will reflect how much you study.

I loved this class! He gives study guides online and that is where most of the test questions come from. Attendance is only mandatory if you want the bonus points at the end of the semester.

this is an advanced bio course, as such, expect a grade that you have to earn. The classes are long, but interesting. Do the work, and study, you will do fine. A large part of the grade is entirely up to you. You will need the book for the code in the back, or you can purchase a code online.

He is a really good teacher. The chapters are long but the tests are your notes. You have to print them out before class and during class fill in the blank.

Great teacher. Those that complain about his "arrogance" just need to lighten up and grasp a sense of humor. He's very sarcastic in a comical way. Usually makes lectures interesting and entertaining. Lab could use a bit more explanation but it was very laid back and fun. Gives bonus points and study guides. Would definitely take again.

1) Attend Class 2) Bring your printed notes (you'll fill them in during lecture) 3) Study your printed notes for the tests 4) If you're having issues ... ask him Do all of this and you should have no excuse to not make high in this class. I see a lot of complaints. I had to take this class for my major, it is majors biology. If you are complaining about this class then you are probably lazy. He makes it a little hard because he knows this class will be the building block for the rest of our schooling. Buckle up, take notes, do connect and study and the class is more than passable.

Gives lots of information and has exams every 1 or 2 weeks. which isn't completely bad. With a lot of grades there is a better chance of keeping or bringing up a grade. Also, offers extra credit and adds points to exams. I advise to come to class and be on time NO cell phones. You will loose your extra credit points.

Its college people you have to work! Mr. Owen is a great teacher. The class is so interesting and the labs are fun. He explains everything and if you need anything he will help you. The connect assignments brings your grade up and it will help you with your test. I wouldn't say its just extremely hard but you need to do your assignments and study.

Attendance is definitely mandatory. As long as you are in class everyday and never late he gives 25 bonus points to you on the final. He is test heavy!!! Be prepared to study and KNOW the material! He knows what he is talking about. He can be funny when he wants to be.

Mr. Owen is an AWESOME teacher and person. The class/tests are difficult and you have to work for it. I bombed all the tests and still came out with a B because of homework and projects, etc. DO ALL THE HOMEWORK. Come to each class and don't be late. Mr. Owens is a very knowledgeable man, he is however not the worlds greatest lecturer. he provides copious amounts of extra material on canvas to study fro instance all notes are printable online, at least one if not two power point quiz with answers for each chapter, and identifies each exact thing(bonemuscle)he also shows exact diagrams on tests

I highly recommend this professor for PHS 111. He is very knowledgeable about the subject and offers plenty of extra credit opportunities. Attendance is essential for lab day to receive any type of grades. He works with you on anything you might need assistance with. For example, he let me review my previous tests to help me study for my final.

He is pretty easy, LOTS of homework but its an easy 100 if you do it correctly and have most of it right. Attendance is mandatory and you get extra points if you come everyday. Test aren't difficult if you study, he gives study guides that help. Textbook and Lab Manuel are required (make sure you have on the first day)

Just do the work and study for the tests and you will get at least a B. He has each week laid out so do the work and dont wait until the last minute.

took his class this semester, and i really enjoyed it. his class is tough, though. lots of assignments due if you're on hybrid for both on campus and in canvas. be prepared to work because you will fail if you don't give his class your all. aside from the grading and excessive testing, some back to back, he's a great professor.

I took his Biology class and got an B+ could have had A if I tried a bit harder. The way to approach this class is like a History class, you have to go through the textbook and write down everything and going through the online lecture videos. It's a lot of writing if you want to learn. But nice guy and had a good time in his class
