my first impression of him was that he was obnoxious...but after a few days...i had completely let go of my that idea. he tells you upfront that he expects effort and his tests reflect that. you must attend class, take notes, and (read) if you want an A. he knows the material very well, and is great at teaching us. very friendly and warm.

Wow. That's all I have to say about this guy. Best teacher EVER. Blew my mind with psychology. He tries to scare you about his tests telling you it's super-mega hard but I always paid attention and it was fairly easy. Great guy, he's like a comedian. Reminds me of David Spade. Awesome lectures. Always gotta take notes.

He does have a huge ego.But hes great and *really* funny.I hardly read the book I got a B. All based on notes.He makes the class really fun.TAKE THIS GUY!

Professor Phillips is by far the best teacher I have ever had. His class is not easy, but if you read the book, take notes, and go to class EVERY DAY you will do good. Gives you chances to improve your grade with thought papers.

This is the best professor I've ever had! He is hilarious and has an extremely interesting and fun way of teaching. However, if your looking for an easy A don't take him. The tests are somewhat difficult and you HAVE TO READ THE BOOK. But if you enjoy psychology and want to learn, this is the class to do it in. A DEFINITE CHALLENGE

After Dr Phillips' classes, most other professors will seem boring to U. He's funny, fun, intelligent, but my favorite "feature" of his is that he urges students to think critically. Throughout the class he throws out stimulating questions and keeps your mind racing. I wish other professors cared about their students’ brains as much as he does.

Tremendously exciting classes! In fact, many professors should take Dr. Phillips classes so they would learn how NOT to put us to sleep. We don’t need to go to school to listen to someone read slides to us. Dr. Phillips is very interested in the subject he teaches and has a lot to say about it. He also wants his students to learn how to THINK.

A combination of attractive personality, eagerness to pass on knowledge, eloquence, and a wonderful sense of humor make professor Phillips classes indispensable! I love every minute of it! He takes our minds to the best places! His pet peeve: students who walk in late.

Steve has revolutionized the term educator. I can't even begin to express how he's changed my view on life entirely. He's brilliant, witty, insightful and always willing to take the time to make sure you understand the concepts,and not just to be able to do the test, but to apply them in real life.

Awesome teacher!! If you show up everyday on time, take good notes, take down examples and overlap his outlines with the text, you'll do great, and really enjoy his class. Steve is an excellent teacher. He teaches according to a rigid outline (displayed on the board at every class) that follows the book. If you study, his tests aren't that difficult. Make sure you annotate the outline as he teaches and read the book at home, and you will have no problem with this class.

He is an amazing teacher. His notes are provided in a rigid outline which he places on the board. He discusses each point w detailed examples so that you can easily remember them. He makes class interesting and allows you to speak your mind. His test are VERY HARD but all the information you need is provided in your notes and text.

Love this class! I read the book after listening to the lecture and the text is a lot more understandable. Uses a lot of stories and examples - some from the book. Tests are difficult but not impossible, make sure to study a few days a head of time. Has an intriguing sort of ego and pretty good ties. Cute in some bizarre way.

FUN CLASS

Steve is the smartest, funniest, best professor out there. He is a genius!! He makes pyschology fun and interesting. His tests are not that hard as long as you study. The outline he gives you is everything - and he explains it so well that you actually understand the concepts. Bottom line - if you want to laugh non-stop & learn pyschology take him!

Steve has a gift for teaching! One of those professors who inspire you. He's very organized, focused, and gives tons of practical examples of how the theories work. And I have to say he's delicious!

HIS TESTS ARE HARD! If you like jokes, psych, and being able to twist your friends and families mind, than take him. But watch out, he is like a tiger because he looks harmless but then bites with the tests. He does add curves based on the average and you must attend because he gives out random thought papers. If you need help, ask!

Great teacher. Class is so much fun. Its hard to fail just go over the notes and show up to class he gives like six 4 point thought papers that are there to help you not count against you. Alot of fun. Two hours just fly by when you in his class.

Some people find it difficult, I personally never studied at all and I am still coming out with an A. I loved his class from start to finish. I was never bored, and on top of that, I have picked up many helpful tips on dealing with people. Completely gives you a new perspective on life. Take this class... please take it.

Steve was definitely one of my favorite teachers in all my years of going to school. His class was extremely entertaining. He is so passionate about what he does and is the farthest thing from monotone. You absolutely MUST read the chapters. Will be hard to pass the tests if you don't. Overall the class is easy, and he is very cute! so take it!

This class was extremely HARD! Steve is a funny guy, but he is not lieing about the difficulty of his tests. He says attendance is not mandatory, but missing a class will definatly hurt your test grade. The class is boring, he NEVER lets you out early. I spent the last 30 minutes eyeing the clock dieing to get out.

He gets such rave reviews. He is a good teacher overall but he tries to press his views onto you. He acts like we were all spoon fed and given everything. Like I said, good teacher, but he thinks his views are always right and everyone else's is wrong.

EXCELLENT PROFESSOR. he definitely gives the classroom a whole new meaning. He's hilarious and he gives plenty of examples to include in an outline (Organizing info. in our head to remember for test). His tests were a bit difficult. This teacher made this class so interesting with his personal stories and examples. He's pretty funny too and extremely helpful. I got a B on the first test and then went to his office to get his personal study tips...after that I got all A's. You actually do have to read in order to do well.

He draws your attention towards the topic with excellent examples and has a good sense of humor too. This was my favorite class. Steve was a very good teacher and made the class fun. His tests were definitely hard, you really have to study to get it totally. I would have to take 3 days and read all the chapters, but I took the class seriously since its my major. He thinks everything he believes is right, but overall excellent teacher.

Took twice at FAU - Best teacher I have ever had. Attendance is not mandatory, but gives random thought papers to increase attendance. In the two classes I've taken with him, I've never missed a class because they're so fun. Tests are hard, but you actually learn from him. However he "doesn't care whether you show up or do good in the class" Make sure you takes notes, he puts up an outline and they will help you. The tests are hard but he does a curve. Steve is a extremely interesting prof. Hes great at what he does, but his tests are very difficult. 4 tests, and 8-10 "thought papers" which are just your opinion on the given topic, which cant be made up if absent. Like i said, real good at what he does but the tests are confusing and hard!!!!

Steve is such a great teacher! I notice that I refer to him a lot bc I learned so much in his class. His tests are 50 multiple choice questions and are very tricky. The tuition is worth his entertainement value. He loves what he does; test are not hard but you have to understand his thinking. They are based on a is to b as c is to __ if you know how to work those out in your head they are simple. If you show up to his class it is an easy pass. He dosen't take attendance, but if you miss one lecture,your going to miss a lot of notes- great teacher to listen to, not boring but tests are extremely difficult. If you don't like reading/taking notes and studying, at least 2hrs a day,(on this subject),don't tkae this class cuz you'll never pass.

lecture contains sexual innuendos-good instructor-class not easy-likes to refer to sex a lot.little over dramatic- may want to be an actor-little over the top at times-but class is entertaining-take good notes-don't miss class, will miss lecture notes and he won't give them if you miss class-doesn't follow the text too much.

Turn in ALL thought papers and to pass the tests, you must memorize the details of ALL the case studies listed in the book and from his notes, this is why his tests are so hard for most people... trust me: STUDY THE CASES and vocab and you'll pass!

amazing professor. the only reason that I looked at my watch during the class was because I was afraid it was gonna be over soon. you never get bored. he teaches on a personal level( almost no one does that!) if you take good notes and study them, the tests are really easy.

He's the man. The only down side of taking his class is that no teacher lives up to him. He's the best teacher I have ever had. I'm sad I don't have him any more.... I know I'm being a pessimist.... Steve is amazing! If you think otherwise, it's probably because you're one of those students just looking for a quick,easy A and he definitely isn't going to give that to you. Notes are essential, as is reading and studying. If you're up for the challenge of a professor worthy of the title, take this class! You won't regret it.

He's fantastic. He's so funny. You want to go to class everyday because his lectures are so interesting, and so that you don't miss a thought paper. Tests can be challenging, but their doable. He says read the book, but he covers everything on the tests. He curves every test. As long as you take good notes and study the notes you will be fine.

Dr. Phillips was one of my first professors and I wish more could be like him! He is so funny and his lectures are always entertaining, actually wanted to go to class. You do have to study bc tests are not easy but gives extra credit which really helps out in the end. I got a B in the class but worked for it! Take the class you won't regret it!

Tests are hard if you do not study! BUT he makes the lectures come alive! He is humorous making it easy to loose yourself in his lessons at times. (Just be sure to take good notes (the outlines are provided for you)) I looked forward to his class and learned a lot. The lessons helped me in various ways when I applied it to my own life.

Professor Phillips is AMAZING!! Best professor, I've had at BC yet. His class isn't hard, it just requires you to think about things in different scenarios, not just memorize definitions, and you do have to read the book. His class isn't hard, what he teaches corresponds to the book, which you'll be reading a lot, and his notes are clear as day, they're very organized. When it comes to a test a lot of the questions are based off of examples he gives in class so it's IMPORTANT to be there. Very laid back person. :-)

His lectures are clear, easy to follow, and very interesting. Make sure to take good notes because the tests can get tricky. Hes very willing to help and just all around a really great professor. You get something out of every class. Its a challenge, but it makes you think differently, which I really appreciated.

A++ teacher. He is going to CHALLENGE you like you've never been challenged before. Gives 4 tests; be prepared to study 20 hours for each test. It is well worth it. If you get an A, you will earn it. Does not take attendance. (Steve laughs at it.) Still has 95%+ attendance rate which shows his skill as a teacher.

This was honestly my favorite class of all time and so sad it's over. I wish he taught more subjects because I would take any class he taught. His classes are hilarious and mind opening. PLEASE TAKE!!! I am actually upset the semester ended because he is THAT good. He is so hilarious and gives plenty of examples to help you understand. This class is only graded by four exams and easy chances for about 8 in extra credit. Other than that, the class is hilarious and he really keeps you tuned in. Psychology is an interesting subject in itself but this professor takes it to another level. His classes make you think intensely, they're funny and I think you'll leave more than satisfied. Take notes for his class with all of his examples and know the outline he gives you. A very critical thinking class, with application questions so you must know your material. Kind to all his students but very democratic, not thats its bad just to note because his lectures are geared more toward the left. Beliefs will be challenged which is great.

Steve is hilarious and his lectures are very interesting and entertaining. Showing up, taking notes, and studying are absolute musts, or else you wont pass. The content is easy to follow but you need to reinforce it to remember it. Seems like an awesome guy.

Amazing professor, probably one of my favorite classes. The way he teaches really keeps you engaged and the way he does notes i find it really easy to study. There arent many grades in the class and if you don't show up you wont do good but it is really easy and fun if you do go. AND IM ACTUALLY LEARNING

Amazing!! Very entertaining and although he claims his exams are terrifying they truly aren't. The textbook is not mandatory but if you're struggling, reading it definitely helps you reinforce his lectures. Make sure you pay attention to the examples he gives. Quizlets will not work for his test. OFFICE HOURS!! If you need help he will help well!!

TAKE HIM!! I genuinely enjoyed sitting through class because his lectures keep you so engaged. Don't let his tests intimidate you just make sure you pay attention to the lecture and write down EVERYTHING he says especially examples. 4 tests but gives thought papers which are super easy and help alot!! THE MOST AMAZING, EDUCATED, KNOWLEDGEABLE TEACHER I HAVE EVER MET. Hilarious, funny, & anti-trump/racist/homophobic so I just love him! Call him Steve not Professor:) only 4 big tests make up your grade- very scary but every single sentence that comes out of his mouth is on the test so pay attention. Such an interesting class I LOVED IT!!!

The BEST professor I've ever had! His lectures are so engaging and actually teaching you real world lessons. Make sure you write his outlines and go to class because he doesn't post them on D2L. He grades you off of 4 tests and 7 thought papers no hw. As long as you pay attention in class you will pass. Honestly a life changing class!

Steve is likely the best prof you'll ever have. The tests can be difficult, but what you gain from the class is SO worth it. Extremely entertaining and knowledgeable; can't recommend him enough!

The lectures are awesome, keeps you interested and want to attend class. Test are VERY difficult but he does curve. He is a jokester so if you are a snowflake don't take him. He is a amazing professor overall and cares about his students. He wants his students to learn and love what he is teaching

He's the best professor I've ever had. He literally got me into psychology and made me change my major because of how amazing he made psychology seem. Every class is so fun and you learn so many important things that apply to real life. Only take this class if you truly want to know and understand psych. Wish I could have him for my whole degree

Here's the truth about the tests: No you don't have to be amazing at studying. You just need to actually enjoy psychology and be able to apply it. His tests are not definition-based, he wants you to know the material as it is very useful for real life. His tests are tough, but they're a fun challenge. He is so real

10/10!! Dr. Phillips is the best. His office hours are very accessible; he cares about his students and passing the class. His lectures are captivating and the outlines are extremely helpful. He offers extra credit papers. I was even able to get his help in collecting research from studies, books, etc. for a paper in another class of mine.

Only reason for an average grade on my part is not doing the reading nor taking the appropriate notes. No systematic, mandated nonsense here, just solid presentation and conversation from start to finish. This man will give you one of the greatest teaching experiences of your entire life. Do not miss it. Couldn't make this up if I tried.

Steve scared me on the first day of class when he said his class was hard. But don't be discouraged he is by far one of the best teachers I've had in a long time. Just make sure to read and attended every class and take notes. He make lectures entertaining and gives extra credit to help. Thought papers! He is test heavy so make sure to study a lot

He's the best. He is very helpful and gives amazing lectures. I got a C because I'm not the best test taker but regardless, he is such a great professor. He gave us 4 tests and some thought papers throughout the semester so definitely read the book and take good notes.

Prof Philips is a GEM! His lectures are life altering and I can't recommend him enough. Take the notes as he recommends and show up for class to get the surprise extra credit papers as it'll help with your test grades. The class is grades only by 4 test. I missed a few classes hence my grade but if you show up you can pass!

Great professor! Very lecture heavy and needs the textbook to do well. Class grade is determined by 4 tests and simple 8 thought papers. He doesn't take attendance, but I 100% recommend not skipping if it's avoidable. Everything he says in his lectures come up on the exam so be ready to take notes. He is hilarious and his lectures are interesting.

steve was probably my favorite professor i've ever had as a college student. his lectures were captivating, entertaining but most of all you actually walked out of class with new information on psychology, not to mention it's things you learn for the test but you can also apply it in the real world. thought papers were given randomly. 10/10 prof :D

Professor Stephen was great. He was super understanding and shows a lot of care towards his students. His class is a little difficult as it is test heavy but as long as you study, show up for the lectures, and read the textbook you will be fine. He also makes his lectures very interesting and relatable.

Ok this guy enjoys his job! He is genuinely the best professor I have had at broward college. Lectures are not boring at all! If you are looking for a sign to take his course this is it! You will leave the class each day learning something new and useful to your everyday life. I wish more teachers were like Steve!!!!

Professor Phillips' lectures are captivating, and while his exams are challenging, the thought papers and unstuckstudy ai make for great study prep. Attend class, take notes, and you'll do well in this engaging course.

It's been almost 10 years, and I still think about Prof. Phillips' lectures from time to time! He has been “ahead of his time” due to his ability to take intricate concepts and explain their practicality. Phillips challenges you to develop your critical thinking skills permanently, without you realizing it. SUPERB! BRAVA!

Steve is a pretty good professor, but I will say that if you're not a person who usually studies for exams or at least has a really good study method you're probably gonna struggle since there's only 4 tests. The book isn't all too necessary in my opinion but it does help to an extent. There are extra credit options but you have to be in class.

LOVED HIS CLASS!!!! People say he is "opinionated", but it is because he uses real life examples. Notes are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, don't to miss a day, as it is important, interesting & relevant. Reading the textbook helps with studying, make sure to READ!!!! Few assignments but exams are IMPORTANT! Steve is wonderful, please take his class!!!!!

Hands down, the best class I've ever taken! I didn't want it to end. The lectures were engaging and genuinely entertaining. This class confirmed that psychology is one of my true passion. Highly recommend taking it!

Great professor, I learned so much in his class and he made it interesting. I recommend taking his class but be prepared to read ALOT, and try to attend every lecture. I was able to pass with a C, (attended most classes and read the book somewhat) he bumps up tests and gives you "thought papers" for extra credit.

Honestly, one of the hardest teachers I've ever taken if you're not good at psychology, I would not recommend this class. I would rather do it online. Very test heavy make sure to study attend. The classes thought papers might help. If you're not good at psychology honestly don't take this class face-to-face.

By far the most amazing professor here at BC. Before taking this class I was quite scared because I've never taken any psychology classes before this. He makes understanding concepts so much easier and makes the class fun with all his little dad jokes. Be sure to attend all his classes as everything that is said will be on the tests.

This class was amazing. Steve is very funny and I like how he relates what we are learning about to events happening in real time. The class is decently hard, so make sure to do the Thought Papers and read the textbook! Take notes take notes take notes!! . Go Gators!! 🐊

Passionate in craft as he makes sure you understand terms during lectures and also provides 8-10 point boosts on tests since he's aware of difficulty. However there's no assignments except 8 thought paper homework's and then 4 tests. If you're bad test taker and study student don't take him. Average on tests was 67% but thought papers boost to a C.

Steve is super educated & hilarious; the jokes help you remember material. Very engaging. PLS take the BEST notes & write his examples, they help tons on tests! Read the textbook to get a better grade on tests, but passable without it. No HW, only VERY SHORT thought papers that boost test scores. Office hours can be academic or for personal issues.

INCREDIBLE! One of the best I've ever had. Attendance isn't mandatory BUT he will randomly assign little papers to do in class that can't be made up to keep you on your toes, and they can make or break your grade. I don't know why you'd want to miss though. Tests are tough, but just study and you'll be fine. I never even read the book once.

He's a great professor. Record his lectures and take notes like he teaches—trust me. He's funny, gives great examples, and thought papers help your grade. His tests are tough but curved. Visit him for study tips; he helped me raise my grade from a D to an A and I never read the textbook. Cool professor and you'll learn a lot.
