Foundations of the US Constitution. I took during the summer. HE goes extremely fast, so fast it is really hard to take notes. There is a quiz almost everyday but NO tests. He does give out study guides. Very nice and likes to wear interesting shirts!!!!!
i also took the const. class over the summer it went too fast and was difficult. I'm an A student and got a C+. You need to try in this class. But he is nice to look at with his mountain dew. Cutie!
Hes too fast and does not explain things. he makes it hard to listen to him. He is also a tough grader. Although I do like looking at him.
His test are so hard, and they are nothing like the notes or book reading. I studied for hours. I am an A student and have only made A's on the papers, and B's and C's on the test.
This guy is so cool! He loves to teach this stuff and makes it so much fun to go to class. He is a lot of work, but you really learn the stuff and enjoy yourself at the same time. I loved the diet dew every day! Great teacher, loves to help, just ask.
I liked going to Powers class, if you can take it in the fall during football season and he's usually in a good mood and will give more extra credit. His tests are hard though, but the papers aren't so the grade balances out.
true this guy does give a lot of notes, but if you many attention and listen to his lecture you are sure to pass. he gives bubble in the answer test so that help. I got a "B" he make his classes interesting. And he never gives essays.
I ENDED UP WITH A 'B' IN THE 6 WEEKS CLASS THAT ONLY MET A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES, SO HE'S VERY EASY. KNOWS HIS STUFF, VERY SMART.
I DO NOT recommend taking his web-based class over the summer. He assigned A LOT of work, including TEN long writing assignments (2-5 pages each). It's nearly impossible to meet his expectations!
A bit challenging but for the most part a good teacher
Good Teacher!! He's a Cutie!! You won't pass unless you study and take notes... I did and I got a B. If you like politics it is pretty interesting.
He is a very good teacher, but his tests are really hard. He finds the smallest things in the book to test you on
i took him over the summer & it was okay. the marerial is alot to learn in 6 weeks but somehow i pulled through. he gives xtra credit & take home quizzes.
This class is hard. The tests are multiple choice but very hard. However, I had 3 essays and they are pretty easy. Powers is smart and not bias, so you will learn some good basics, but that's not what the tests are on.
Thought provoking and fair when it comes to tests and essays. Very well spoken. Gives PLENTY OF TIME to complete essays. Also gives extra credit on Fridays during football season.
He gave me a whole new outlook on how national government works. He is pretty liberal in his views which makes his lectures pretty interesting. His test are not the easiest. You probably would want to carefully read the chapters in the book and take good notes. His papers were pretty easy too.
Mr. Powers is sooo cool. Plus he's not bad to look at. Skim the book and listen to his lectures and you'll do fine. Take his class during football season and you'll get tons of extra credit.
He's an excellent prof! He is enthusiastic and insightful, has an open-door policy, will answer questions. Make sure to read the book and pay attention to the box-outs. Take notes in class! He allots more than enough time for essays, which are insightful, so there's no excuse for slacking.
Dr. Powers leads one of the finest Political Science classes I have taken so far. His lectures are interesting and very informative, and he encourages class discussion, regardless of partisanship. This leads to different perspectives on different issues and makes you more knowledgeable about them.
FOR ALL THOSE PEOPLE THAT JUST FLOAT THROUGH COLLEGE HE IS NOT FOR YOU. HE DOESN NOT COUNT ATTENDANCE BUT IF YOU MISS CLASS YOU WON'T PASS THE TEST. HE IS VERY INTRESTING AND LOVES WHAT HE DOES. HE IS VERYHELPFUL AND UNDERSTANDING.
I took his National Government class and it was probably the best class I've ever taken! He loves people debating him and people discussing different opinions. He's easy on the papers but exams are pretty hard. You have to know you know everything. Read the book and take notes and you'll do fine.
His class is hard at the beginning when you are first learning his teaching style but as you tke more notes the tests seem to get easier. though I will warn you not to just float through his class or you won't make it. he is fair and willing to help. He really does care a lot about his students.
This dude is awesome. He's very laid back and lectures are interesting. He makes the subject fun. His tests are pretty easy if you study the notes and skim through the book a bit. He gives lots of extra credit too.
AWESOME! One of my favorite professors. He's so cool and teaches things that are relevant for today. I still don't know what his political views are, which is the way I like it. He's so objective and lets you think for yourself. Why aren't all teachers like that?
Excellent instructor. This is the best kind of political science teacher, because he is libertarian, which makes discussions *very* interesting, even if you aren't one. If you come out of this class becoming or remaining a political extremist, you have officially failed college; he will change your views on almost everything.
He is great! He is really laid back. He made the class interesting and he wasn't too big on attendance. You do have to study, and put forth some effort to pass the tests. He will make it fun to learn the material.
A very energetic, enthusiastic and laid back guy. Good at explaining material and clearly defining what it will take to make an A in his class. His classes are not hard, but they are not a walk through either. You must go to class, take notes and read the book. His classes are very interactive and interesting. I Highly reccomend Dr. Powers.
He is a genuinely nice guy and means well. He teaches the material he has, but I am so sorry... his classes are sooo boring!
One of my first teachers. Very insightful, and loves to ask questions about the topics.

He was very helpful and helped me pull my C up to an A! Fun and entertaining.
cool guy. you must go to class for the notes to pass the test...he doesnt take attendence which makes that part hard...lots of extra credit...good study guides just alot to know...he loves politics!!
I would highly recommend Prof. Powers. Cool guy, tries to make class interesting. He gives you lots of chances for extra credit, and loves class participation. You can tell he loves to teach.I don't think I could've gotten through this material with another teacher!
Mr.Powers is one of the best teachers on campus, if you need this class take it with him,you will learn alot about our government had fun doing the extra credit TAKE HIM!
Mr. Powers is the man! He is helpful, nice, understanding, clear about what he expects, and fun. Even if you don't like politics this class is enjoyable.
He makes class interesting.
Great teacher! His class is kinda hard if your not intrested in politics, but he makes it entertaining!
He make the class funny and interesting. You will learn alot if you come to class. You really dont have to take notes, but it will help on the tests.
Mr. Powers class will require you to do a lot of studying on your own. He covers the basics and then expects you to get the rest from the book. He does assign extra credit which will help. His tests are a mix between multiple choice, true-false, and matching. He expects you to know the why and just not memorize. No attendance policy but go to class
Mr. Powers is super nice. He offers 30-50 extra credit points and if you come to class and take good notes you can do very well. He expects you to know and be able to apply the information but he is also willing to help you anytime.
He is a cool teacher. I think most of the material on the test come from his lectures. He does give a lot of extra credit which is nice.
If you are a person that does not like to read DO NOT take his class on the web during the summer at least. He gave us 6 essays + 1 simple assignments and 4 test including the final. All test were no less than 65 questions + 4 essay but only one was needed. the good part was he just let you go at it and finished everything by a certain date.
Was knowledgable and clearly stated every topic and term. Tests became easy because he made it easy to remember what to do. Easy to take notes to. A+. for shizzzzzzzal.
Very organized theacher in delivering the material. He repeats everything. Although he never mentioned that the students must be present in all his classes, but I went to all of his classes and taped his lecture. I was very confident in the tests. although it is only one credit hour you should realy pay attention to the course. All questions came f
He has a very laid back teacing style which makes the class easy (if you pay attention). Most of the tests are on the lecture material, so you really don't need the book. He makes potentially boring material into an interesting 50 minutes. His was the only class that I looked forward to attending while at TCC.
Try not to let this be your first option if your are an African American. But, that's just me. Take notes and read the book. He's Hard to pass. He's real funny!! but, his tests are real hard!!!
Do not take this class !!! hard test very unorginazied.
You'd have to be pretty dumb not to pass this class. The only complaint is that sometimes his test questions can be tricky, especially if you havent studied your notes. Everything you need to make A's on the test is in the notes, and he gives several, EASY oppurtunies for extra credit.
This teacher seems nice and intelligent at first, but once you take his class you slowly realize hes not as bright as he may seem. He babbles about nothing and his study guides suck. He thinks he knows everything about our government and DEF does not. You have to study A LOT of unecessary material. You need the book, I studied and barely passed.
He is an awesome teacher! He is really excited about what he is teaching and really enjoys the subject matter. He always brings up interesting debates on current issues. You do have to pay attention in his class and study but if you do you'll pass. He is always willing to help!
Mr. Powers is a great teacher! He's really intelligent and he know's his material! He likes to have in class debates which are great because it gets everyone interested and helps you understand the material better. The test questions can be tricky so just make sure you know your notes in and out! Easy "A"! He also gives plenty of Extra Credit!
(web-based)definately in the running for the top 10 WORST professors at tcc. 8 long essays for assignments, discussion boards, and 4 tests- 4 chapters each, 80 quest. and an essay - I'm a A/B student and found this class to be impossible! don't bother asking for help, his best suggestion to me was to "study and read"...well no sh*t!! DONT TAKE HIM!
great
Mr. Powers Class was not difficult, a lot of in-class notes from a projector, repeats at start of each class to overview what he talked about in the previous class. You should be in class to pass! Tests come strait from his notes! One long paper but he gives you an entire month to get it to him! Loves to talk Football! FSU and Ark.(GO HOGS!!!)
really nice guy, but you do have to study.. 2 papers, but there really easy and grades them easy.. test are difficult if you dont study and attendance isnt mandatory.. does football picks for extra credit!
Mr. Powers class online was awful. Alot of essays and discussion boards. Worst online class ever taken!!!!
Such a great teacher! I loved this clas!!
really good teacher! you have to study in order to do well on the tests, but he explains the material well! attendance isnt mandatory.. 2 papers but not too hard
Dont take his online class! Im an A/B student and I had to withdraw. The guy doesnt help you at all. You are responsible for tons of papers and test that you are screwed on. If you take it, your an idiot.
I wouldn't suggest taking this class if you are a working student or are very busy. He give you tons of material that will beo n the test on 12 pg handouts and puts info on tests that you don't discuss in class. This class has my gpa out the window!!
Great teacher! His opinions are clear, but extremely unbiased; fresh, eye-opening class. Take good notes and study. "Not all Constitutional laws are good and not all good laws are Constitutional."
Hey a real clear teacher but his test does be difficult. and He give out a lot to cover for one test
Good teacher, although the class can be very boring at times. He gives TONS of extra credit. Class was fairly simple, although his tests can be ReAllY tricky. His study guides usually arent much help for the test so I recommend taking good notes and reading the assigned chapters. If you do that and the extra credit you'll do just fine.
Mr. Powers was a fine teacher. Definitely knows what he's teaching. His tests were pretty tough... the wording and such were tricky. He loves football and you can earn extra credit by picking games. Solid teacher.
Mr. Powers is a great teacher!!! He deff. knows his stuff- backwards and forwards! He is very helpful. Attendance is not mandatory but you won't get any help for tests from the book- its all in class from the slides. I learned a lot!!!!
Pretty nice guy, and always makes the material very exciting. Very organized, and straight forward. Although I am only having to duct a few points off my score because his tests were a bit tough. He also expects a lot out of the essay portion. Just remember to be specific on each issue given. Text book is asked, but no assignments come from it.
I think I would of done better if did this class on campus instead of online. Test were hard. Thank goodness for the extra credit and essays.
DO NOT TAKE this class online. He is an awful teacher he only gives you three test to make a grade on and they are really hard. Then even when you think you did good he gives a bad grade. I asked him for help he didn't give any.
Powers is awesome, he only uses the book to refer back to and uses most of the class to discuss. tests aren't that bad, all you have to do is know the study guide and your good. great teach, take him
I took his class online and he was honestly the worst teacher I have ever had. The assignments I thought were fun and I learned a lot from those. However, his tests are pretty difficult, even when you think you do well. His grading doesn't make sense and when you ask for help he doesn't respond. At the end of the class he told us we could not ask a
Mr. Powers is very nice to begin, But he gives too many darn assignments! Coming to class is mandatorty bc you take notes everyday(He doesnt give you make-up notes if you dont come). He gives extra credit but its literally an arm & a leg worth your effort. Class is always fun tho! Tests are a pain in difficulty. Youll think you did well but u didnt
This Instuctor is indeed very CRAZY, His online classes are harder than rock, If you intend to take this class online because you dont have a lot of time on your hand, you might want to think again bcos his crazy assignments and tests without a study guide will put you to serious work, I still think he might be considerate but definitely very hard
Mr. Powers is a really great professor. He is so helpful and wants to do whatever he can for his students. There are a few required assignments that are just time conuming, but definitely fair for this class. The tests are mostly lecture, but Powers tells you what pages from the book are on the test.Just take good notes and you'll be fine!
He's a very cool guy. His lectures can get really boring because he gets off track a lot and wastes a lot of class time. He gives A TON of extra credit though, so there's no possible way to do bad in this course unless you try to. His tests are a little difficult but he posts a lot of the notes on BB. Final isn't cumulative
He's a nice guy, and really knows his stuff. The class can get boring and the tests are difficult. Mostly because the material is not common knowledge unless you really know a lot about the government, but he gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Some of the assignments are a lot of work. Use of the book is low and the final is not cumulative.
Pretty easy A. He is so boring and its so hard to motivate yourself to go to class because attendance isn't mandatory. He gives tons of extra credit though!! Decent teacher.
Mr Powers is very interested in what he is teaching and has plenty of stories that he tells throughout the semester but his class is very boring. he posts most of his notes on blackboard (even though he says he doesn't)and attendance is not mandatory so as long as you show up for a couple of classes and do the study guides you should do ok.
Web class- RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!! Unless this is your thing. If you have to take this class- you better keep up,do all the extra credit, you will need the points. 4 tests are extemely hard.
I am currently taking this class online and it is one of the hardest classes I have ever took that was online. The test are really ridiculous and its alot of reading. I took this class because I didn't have time to go to the actual class and now I'm wishing that i wouldn't have took it at all.
Took his course over the summer. Very fast course, but long class time, close to 3hrs! He will let you out 20mins early though. Show up, take LOTS of notes,do the extra credit & you will pass. I didn't buy the book & got a high B grade in the class. Final is kinda hard, cumulative. Overall an alright teacher, but boring subject.
AWESOME INSTRUCTOR! I wish ALL of my instructors at TCC were this passionate about teaching. He kept everything interesting, and was a super great teacher. If you go to class, and take good notes, you will get an A easily! I just can't say enough good things about this guy. TAKE HIM!
this guy is awesome. i enjoyed this class and got an A. he cuts people alot of slack
I am currently taking this class online. He does cover alot of material. His test are difficult but he specifically gives you instructions on what to study and where to find it. Good teacher. I have learned alot and I have an A.
Powers is a fun teacher, interesting material and class but the tests are very hard! Study study study. Study guides are vague, attendance isn't mandatory but I suggest to attend to get the most use of the information (although i didn't and still got a b). fun extra credit
I hate history and this was the first history class I was actually interested in. Mr. Powers makes things interesting and fun. He will tell you from the beginning if you don't want to be there in class then don't come. He gives A LOT of extra credit and that is what saved my grade. I made D's on all of my tests and made a C in the class
Do not take his online class his calender schedule is not easy to follow. Nothing I studied for was on the test. His assignments were easy.
Great teacher!! Extremely kind & helpful. If u take his class online be prepared to read alot. The instruc. can seem overwhelming but if u READ them he tells you exactly what needs to be done & where to go next. If u have quest. is more than willing to sit w/u & answer them no matter how dumb u think they are. Yes he is cute in his own spec way.
He's very helpful. I did well in his class.
Good class like his sense of humor. You got to buy the book $$ and you have to read all of it.
I would take a class with him agian,he is awesome
Makes lectures as interesting as possible. Offers a ton of extra credit. Test are easy (50 Q's multiple choice).
Great teacher! I learned a lot in his class and I'm not a huge political science person. Gives extra credit too and is very helpful. Don't be afraid to ask him questions during office hours if you're unclear about something.
I really dont understand why he has a 3.0 on easiness. I chose my class according to that, but now I regret. He has his own humor in his lecture and he is a helpful teacher. However, he makes his tests extremely hard. I swear to God his assignments are the hardest ones I have ever had! DO NOT CHOOSE HIM!!!
I took POS1041 online and must say that it was a HUGE challenge. I felt as though many of our assignments did not fit well with what we were studying in class. We had to do allot of research and listen to several full blown court cases. I would recommend taking the actual class, and not doing it online.
He gives A LOT of extra credit but also alot of paper assignments! I got F on 3/4 test and a C on the last one and still made a C!
He is very organized! He first gives you a simple outline of what you will learn. I actually learned a lot about about the governments. You will learn very interesting facts within this class. Although, the assignments are a killer to do besides the first few. But, he gives you enough time to do it. Offer Extra credit assign. that would help a lot!
I liked this prof a lot. He was very laid back, but he did have order. He gave a lot of extra credit, and his tests, including make-up, were all multiple choice.
very very difficult. a LOT of work, four essays for one assignment. It was ridiculous. The tests also had nothing to do with the homework. The practice tests he gives are nothing like the actual tests, DO NOT TAKE HIM. All other reviews that are "good reviews" are not true...
SO HARD! seriously THE hardest class I have ever taken. WAY too much work. all you do is read read read read SO much, and he doesn't give you a helpful study guide. his tests were SO hard. also, he doesnt seem smart because his tests have SO many grammar/spelling errors. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! i'm serious...
Hardest class I've ever taken. He doesn't give you a study guide, you depend on the book to learn. His tests were impossible. He takes forever to respond to emails too. Don't take him unless you're a genus and like teaching yourself EVERYTHING
assigns alot of detailed hw and tests are all multiple choice unless you just love poltical science take someone else
Mr. Powers is a fun prof. He cracks jokes and is very knowledgeable. He is a little scattered, and piled up a lot of homework toward the end of class, but it was manageable as long as you stay on top of the assigned reading. His lectures are as interesting as they can possibly be since this is a boring subject. Not easy, but not too hard either.
Professor Powers is the man..I never came to class, got an F an all 3 tests and managed a C due to his assignments and extra credit
I wouldn't recommend him to anyone ever. He doesn't care if you show up, isn't very clear on what he's teach, and doesn't get to the point half the time... well that just my opinion. I was excited to take this class but I was disappointed. I felt like I wasted my money. Not my cup of tea.
You can easily tell Professor Powers is very passionate about what he teaches. While not my favorite subject, he made it interesting. However I found like a lot of the assignments weren't as exciting as they could have been, but that might just be me.
Great professor, provides clear instructions and deadlines for assignments. Learned a lot in this class.
There is A LOT of reading for this online Political Science class, however Prof. Powers offers a good bit of (easy) extra credit assignments, responds to emails and questions rather quickly and confirms he has received submitted assignments. He also gets stuff graded and your results back to you in a timely manner. Great instructor, a lot of work.
Mr Powers was an AWESOME teacher he gives a bunch of extra credit and assignments. do not slack off on doing the assignments they are all at least worth 25 points
There aren't that many tests but as long as you can do well on the assignments and take advantage of the extra credit he offers you have a chance to do well. I didn't do well on tests but the extra credit and assignments really helped my grade.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT'S of assignments. Does accept late work, and has extra credit. Very laid back, but pay attention. You could prolly miss a few days if you read the book, and pass, provided you do the assignments.
In his National Government class online, is one of the most clear, organized, efficient online classes I have ever taken. He has step by step instructions on all homework, discussion boards, quizzes, tests, and provides tons of information for study guides. If you do not pass this course, it is because you did not reador dedicate yourself enough.
Powers was an alright professor. His lectures were long and sometimes if he posts the slides online you can just use that to fill in the study guides. Study guides are sort of vague at times but all the information on the test is on the study guides. You will have to read the book as not all the test material comes from the slides, but the book too
Great guy, even better teacher! For all the awful teachers at TCC here is a saint among all saints. This man cares about the kids!! Don't take his class if you are lazy
if you are a textbook reader then he is for you he lectures all class in tends to go off topic you never know exactly what talking about he expect you to read a lot of chapters from the textbook better off taking national government online
I took his online POS1041 and had to withdraw early because I knew I would fail. He does not provide any notes on the topics, he solely relies on the textbook so when it came time to take the first test, it was basically like you had to memorize an entire book. I would not recumbent him for anyone who struggles to memorize terms like I did.
The good: he's nice, quick to reply to emails, gives extra credit. The bad: Very hard, confusing lectures, study guides don't help on tests, tons of reading, and very unclear. 10/10 wouldn't recommend unless you're very good at history.
A very specific and organized professor. The tests are challenging but he does provide detailed reviews, you just have to work for a good grade! Gives many extra credit and homework opportunities to boost your grade!
Mr. Powers is great! There are 4 tests total and lots of homework, although some of the assignments can be tedious if you're not a good test taker they will save you in the end, he offers several extra credit opportunities which he says can sometimes bring you up a whole letter great so don't miss them! Make sure you read the textbook!
If you're interested in political science, he's great. There were 7 assignments (6 were 2-4 page papers), 4 extra credit assignments, and 4 tests (3 + final). Very broad study guides. Test questions are given in class. He's very knowledgeable, passionate, and will get you thinking about politics in a completely new light.
Professor Powers is the man! Super down to earth guy, open for discussion with any topic in class, and is quick to reply to emails. Not to mention, he keeps things up to date. There were online discussion boards that was super easy and actually on interesting topics. Tests are easy of the most part, might try to trick u on some questions though.
Great professor! Tests were stressful but for the most part you are prepared for everything just by doing the REVEAL quizzes. Professor Powers is also very generous with extra credit.
I don't like gvnmt but he made me very interested in it and presented it in a way that makes me totally understand! Lectures were fun and fantastic. Good personality, funny, easy A if you apply yourself. Go to class. study slides. take notes. Normal stuff and you will love the class!
DON'T TAKE ONLINE CLASS. TONS OF READING, QUIZZES, ESSAYS AND UNBEARABLE TESTS. You must read a textbook chapter every week, and each chapter has NINE corresponding online quizzes! You also have to write essays weekly/biweekly. No test study guides, and the tests are 50-60 multiple choice, 10-20 true/false, AND AN ESSAY RESPONSE.
Show up and pay attention and you should pass no problem. I didn't need to use the book. His lectures aren't always the most interesting, but pay close attention because exactly what's in the lecture will be on your exam. He makes a point to highlight the important stuff you need to remember from his lectures, and makes helpful study guides.
Mr. Powers is a really good teacher and you can tell that he really has a passion for what he does. He explains government in a way that is quite easy to understand and he is fun, but he will definitely lecture. In his class you can expect to read a lot, do a lot of essays/papers, do extra credit assignments (if you are wise), and take a few tests.
Absolutely loved this class! Lots of papers, especially near the end, and you definitely need to study in advance for the tests, but I have learned so much and truly enjoyed the lectures. He loves what he does and tries to always be impartial to political beliefs. Lots of extra credit, take if you want to learn a lot and are willing to work for it.
Professor Powers is a great teacher. He is very lenient with homework and tests. He gives you 4 extra credit opportunities and a day to make up a missing test or homework assignment. He's funny and very clear with his lectures.
AMAZING! His class was definitely the best that I have taken and incredibly informative, he tells you everything you need to know and his tests are a direct reflection of the study guide. He will definitely help you if you want to know extra information and is open to great discussions and debates. FANTASTIC PROFESSOR!
We had tons of homework and reading quizzes due each week. However, those homework assignments and reading quizzes did help make the tests simple. Do not get behind in this class or you'll get overwhelmed with all the work. I would recommend taking him in person rather than online since it was SO much busy work to do.
This class requires you to read about 15 chapters with about 8 sections. After every section there is a quiz, then also a chapter quiz. You are also required to do about 6 assignments that consist of mostly essays. Honestly, i enjoyed this class so much. If you have the time to stay focused and do not get behind. Take this class, He is AWSOME!
Awesome professor, i personally am not a poly sci wiz but he makes this class very clear and easy. Take notes and study lecture and you will do well on tests! He is also very easy to talk to and will explain something extra if need be!!
Loved this professor and his class. The class was structured very easily and to the point. His lectures come off more as if he were having a conversation with you instead of just lecturing, therefore making it so much easier to pay attention to and be interested in. Overall a great guy and is great at what he does.
Mr. Powers is a great instructor. As long as you do the required assignments, (there are 6, simple essays) take advantage of the many extra credit opportunities, and use his study guides for the tests you will be sure to receive a good grade. Lectures are not mandatory, and he posts most slides on Canvas. Definitely recommend!
The study guides for this class are extremely lengthy (about 5-7 pages.) If you like to skip class this isn't a good class to take beings a lot of the test material is not on the slides, just talked about in class. Powers is kind of monotone and that makes the class very boring.
Dr. Powers is a great professor, and is very knowledgeable about his subject. He has a very casual style of teaching which invites and encourages students to share their thoughts in group discussions about the topics discussed during class. He grades fairly and offers multiple extra credit assignments. My overall grade was 101%. He is awesome!
Best professor! He is easy to work with and get along with. There are some papers, but they are all on interesting topics. Exams are straight forward and he gives 4 extra credit opportunities.
A lot of homework but its honestly pretty easy. Lets you make up assignments and an extra credit opportunity at the end. I would definitely take him again! The class is easy and not stressful.
Professor Powers is extremely great. A total of 6 HW assignments, 4 extra credit opportunities, and 4 exams. Clear study guides show exactly what will be on the test. The only issue I have with the class is what he lectures on in class is not in the book, thus you must come to class for the lectures and read the book to get a good grade.
Lots of busy work. Only 3 exams. No quizzes. He requires the book but I NEVER opened it. His PowerPoints are enough for the exams.
I never used the physical book, only online. No study guides for test. He is very quick at responding to emails, and will help as much as he can as long as you try your best. He gives lots of extra credit, make sure you take advantage of it, they're easy.
I loved having this professor, he is really interesting and gives about 6 homework assignments, a bunch of extra credit and only 4 exams. He is definitely a really easy teacher.
This class was relatively easy as long as you go to class and pay attention. He's not very good at getting back to you quickly and can sometimes be vague when he gives you instructions but if you ask him about it he is willing to help and really cares for his students.
A good online professor who gives a clear and organized syllabus which will help you stay on track. The online quizzes arent my favorite but thats probably not his fault I think theyre generated from the textbook. You also have to submit a 3 page essay every few weeks but if you enjoy politics theyre pretty easy. He also offers easy extra credit
Mr. Powers is a very good teacher, enthusiastic about what he teaches. He incorporates subtle humor throughout his lessons and is very clear about his criteria. The quizzes are very heavy and difficult (they have a lot of grade weight) but I don't think that's because of him, just a course-computer quiz thing. Overall, a good course and teacher.
Mr. Powers is a great instructor! He gives assignments every 2 weeks (2-page papers), 4 exams total (including non-cumulative final), study guides, extra credit and posts powerpoints. I suggest filling out the study guides during his lectures (helps save time)! If you put time and effort into this class, you will pass! It's been fairly easy for me.
Lectures every class so make sure you show up. Also have powerpoints only. Make sure you study the study guide he gives you. Not much hw but usually 2 pages every time. Just make sure you do his work he gives you enough time to do it also
Powers is a really cool dude. As long as you put in the effort you will pass with flying colors!
Enjoyed his lectures and he made them entertaining!!! I really enjoyed his class a lot! Papers were super easy, gave extra credit, printed out his powerpoints and followed along w/ his lectures and took my own notes on the side. Stay on top of the study guide bc it can get lengthy. Great professor!
He's one of my favorite professors. He only takes off a couple points for late work, only a couple assignments throughout the semester & he has lots of extra credit opportunities. The papers are only 2 pages, he posts his power points online & is an easy grader. The study guides are super helpful & go along perfectly with the tests.
Powers is honestly a real gem at TCC. The class was wonderful and he really is there to help if you need it. I have nothing negative to say!
Great teacher! Straight to the point and he makes the class interesting. He knows his stuff, their are no surprises and I'd recommend him to anyone! Professional and he cares. Go for it!
Took this class online easy A. You have 8 papers only 500 words. You have 15 quizzes. Also he offer 3 extra credit opportunities, do them they really help your grade. He gives you the syllabus with all the work, you can work ahead. Amazing teacher, always replied back quickly to an email.
This prof. will specify he isnt a tough grader, but infact he is. The final exam was 61 questions with a 50 minute time limit, with very lengthy questions that were filled with typos. I was less stressed taking my SAT's. He does give lots of extra credit chances, which are crucial to do if you plan on passing this class. VERY slow grader.
He took months to grade things, the test were wack, he told us he went to prison.
He was okay until after the pandemic hit and school was cancelled. Most of my professors were really accomodating due to the national emergency, but he wasn't at all. He assigned two essays that weren't on the syllabus and didn't teach any classes or lectures and didn't send lecture slides or anything. Really inconsiderate.
Very easy class online. Teacher has a detailed and straight forward way of how he wants things completed. A lot of writing I can say like 8 2-3 page essays but other than that very easy class got an easy A in the class. Teacher also isn't a hard grader and is very lenient in grading.
I am surprised about some of the negative comments. He is a friendly guy and you can tell that he is passionate about it. He does a good job explaining SCOTUS cases and other important details about how to gov. runs. It is a lecture heavy class and you NEED to take notes because there are a lot of details to remember. You'll be fine if you do that
This was my first time taking an online class so i was a bit nervous, Powers is such an easy grader but makes it clear what he wants and what you could improve on. Nice guy, cares about your grade and if you do the simple essays and easy ish tests, youll definitely get a high B or A.
There are so many papers in his course, but it is all easy. You do not need to buy the book if you are online, I never used it. It is easy to pass the test trust me. He also lets you turn in 3 late assignments. I did not communicate much with him, so I don't know his personality but he is a very easy grader. You can get an A on almost any paper
Informative lectures that are easy to sit through and listen. Very nice guy who wants to help his students. Grading criteria is super obvious so you get what you get. He gives extra credit throughout the course if you ever mess up on a quiz/paper.
Very straightforward class. Somewhat of a lot to do outside of class, like papers, discussion boards, etc. With that said, if you turn everything in on time and follow directions there is no reason not to pass the class, or get above a B.
Professor Powers is absolutely amazing!!! He cares about his students and it shows... he gives clear instructions and has open office hours. I'd say the best thing about him is the fact he offers great feedback and it helps you do well. There's A LOT of work (research papers and quizzes), but if you do the work, you'll pass. Don't skip class!!!
Great professor, great person. Very caring person. Class is easy if you do the work. Very easy grader. Quizzes are open note and there are no tests.
Arguably one of the best at TCC. Took his class in online once, and it was my favorite class that semester. While his class was lecture-heavy, he spent gave more than enough time to jot down notes, and his tests were easy to pass if you studied. He's a great guy to have a discussion with and knows what he's talking about!
Professor Powers is a great teacher. He lectures for the whole class period, which people can easily lose focus. He gives extra credit, and is willing to help students understand assignments better. He is relatively an easy grader. Also, he does accept assignments late with a small penalty fee.
Easy easy easy class. NO HONORLOCK!!!! Quite a bit of reading/writing in the form of discussion posts and essays, but just put in a good effort and he grades fairly.
This professor is amazing. There is no honor-lock for any exams. There are a lot of essays for this class, but they are pretty easy and simple. He gives you clear instructions for papers and assignments, so you will never be confused. Ive learned so much since taking his class, and he grades very fairly. Such an easy class and you learn a lot.

Professor Powers is one of the best at TCC. He is very easy to reach outside of class and offers extra credit. There are a good amount of assignments but he is a fair grader
Super nice and was an easy class. Assignments and tests every week with 6 written assignments. Accepts late assignments and offers extra credit.
good professor, chill. doesn't make the class harder then it is. assignments are easier.
Super Easy class if you do your readings and homework. Tests are not on honorlock and questions come directly from the homework which is really helpful if you do your homework. Essays once in a while along with Written assignments and weekly multiple choice assignments.
As long as you stay caught up with the reading and homework, you should be fine. Sometimes there are essays and tests, but the questions come straight from the homework and are not honor locked. This was a morning class for me, so I didn't go that often, but I still did fairly well.
Easy class but lots of homework. Buying the textbook is mandatory since the homework and tests are through the online textbook website
His lectures do get really boring but the his tests arent bad and allows open book to make them easier
He deeply cares about his students and gives great lectures. He has a fantastic personality. He provides notes from each lecture in Canvas. The readings and the homework are very time consuming. Do not procrastinate. He is not a tough grader if you follow instructions.
Professor Powers makes this course manageable with a reasonable workload. The readings and homework are time-consuming but doable. unstuckstudy was super helpful for study prep alongside the textbook.
Professor Powers is a great person! Government can sometimes be a controversial topic, he delivers his lectures in a respectful and easy way to understand both perspectives. He is a funny guy as well and his classroom is always very positive. Homework is light and grading is resonable.
Powers was absolutely amazing, the workload was manageable, and lectures were easy to understand! Attendance is only required if you have a low grade, while passing you're all good! Tests are straightforward, requiring you to have a camera on, however they're not honorlocked and are labeled as "open book." Powers was excellent, highly reccomend!
In National Government the topics can get controversial, but he is very skilled at keeping things light and explaining topics in a very neutral way. His lectures are informative, fun and engaging. He is kind, funny and cares about his students. I would love to take another one of his classes.
Dr.Powers has been an amazing professor this semester! He gives wonderful feedback and truly cares about each one of his students. His papers are less heavy research and more on how you feel about specific topics which I really enjoyed. Overall, 10/10 class and prof!
I LOVED his class. I'm not a fan of history, never will be but he made this experience a breeze. Very caring, he's the most understanding professor I've met. 10/10 would recommend him for any course!
I loved this class so much honestly so sad to not have it anymore, such a good professor and genuinely cares for his students. Work isn't difficult at all super understanding as well.
Professor Powers is a great teacher that cares about his students. His assignments are heavily based off of reading the textbook and his PowerPoints, but are decently easy (McGraw Hill). He is very understanding and accommodating to students to make sure you succeed in his class. No final exam, just a chapter exam as our final grade.
Professor Powers is a great teacher, especially if you struggle to stay focused in classes like American Government. He's approachable, extends deadlines often, and is super lenient with late work. Assignments are straightforward (smartbook, concept clips). Only complaint: two exams were scheduled the week before our final, which felt a bit crammed
