Third time taking history, but I'mfinally passing this class with a B so far. Must attend class inorder to pass the exams. Gives an Oral Study Guide everything he say's will be on the test.Gives 3 essay questions and you have to pick one. Gives 25 terms much know 1-2 sentences about them and you'll get the points!! Easy Teacher!!
He is such an easy teacher!! He is really funny, takes a passion in what he teaches and the tests are so easy. The tests are 25 terms/people you have to define and one essay question. He goes through the whole test with you before. He is so easy, so nice, and a really fun teacher overall! TAKE HIM!!!
He is the best teacher in the world!!! Lectures are very interesting. Always attend his reviews before his test. No suprises with his test.
Very interesting and very knowledgable. He's nice and helpful. The class is easy, if you pay attention during the lectures you won't even have to study for the tests.
i love mr reed. i had him for three history classes and i must say, he is by far the best teacher ive had in college thus far. he is extremely intelligent, very funny, has a book coming out, and makes the best use of class time. when i took him for history 101, he let us out early every single day! i love mr reed! TAKE HIM OR DIE!
Really easy class. He gives you the information you need to know for the tests in the review. No Homework just study terms. 25 terms each test really easy. I got an A.
Took either his 120 or 1221 class cant remember but i took him in spring intersession and what an easy teacher!! I am doing the same thing this coming intersession. I highly suggest you take Mr. Reed he is sooo awesome no homework just read and study the notes/power point slides. Other than that...amazing teacher
Very easy and interesting class because you get to learn about the history of Mexico, but his lectures are very fast, so you would have to write really fast so you could write as much down.
Easy. Hardly any reading, get out early most of the time. PowerPoints can be boring but they're everything on the test and available online. He trys to make things interesting, but not too obnoxiously. Overall good experience, take him if you can.
Very easy class. Can be funny at times. Very nice and will try to answer any questions you have. Didn?t use the textbook even once so save your money for other classes. Attendance is not mandatory and showing up on review days will give you all the info you need for the test. Great teacher and would take his class again.
Professor Reed is intelligent and makes history come to life. His class is easy because he makes the subject material interesting and fun to learn. I recommend him, and I will definitely take him again.
easiest class EVER. He's a good teacher, thinks he's funny (sometimes he is), and he's really nice. take notes in his class, it'll help with the short answer. tests are 50 mult. choice questions (worth 2 points each) and 1 50 point short answer. miss a test, gives the option of writing an essay on what was covered. recomend taking the test.
One of the best Professors on campus! He is easy going, everything you need to know is in the notes. dont need the book! Highly recommend him
Easy, easy, easy A! One of the best Professors on campus! He is easy going, everything you need to know is in the notes. dont need the book! Highly recommend him
Great teacher and a nice guy...take him if you can.
mr reed is the man! he is such a chill guy! his classes are not only interesting, but his tests are easy! i studied half an hour for each test and aced every single one.
His class is pretty easy and if you miss a test he will let you make it up with an essay for one lower grade. The only thing bad about him was that he talked so much about politics and talked crap on the military and since I'm in the Air Force that really bugged me! He tells a lot of repeat jokes, but they are semi funny. Easy class.
Easy class if you take notes and listen to his lectures. He doesn't give much homework and goes over everything that will be on the exams. If you miss an exam he even will let you make it up by writing a paper on something from the section and turn it in at the end of the semester. Very laid back doesn't really care if you show up or not.
pretty useless teacher. reads straight from the book and tells lame jokes and is overall very awkward. I went to class 5 times and got an A in the class. He gives you test questions and answers the day before the exam.
He's hot and smart, really helpful!!!, When he takes off his glasses it brings out his eyes, i got an A because i was easy
this class is so easy! some of his lectures are boring, but you don't really need to be there anyway. reviews are key, because he goes over exactly what will be on the test. take reed if you want an easy A.
Good teacher but very monotone. Take him if you don't have much interest in learning and you just want to pass with an easy A.
Good teacher but very monotone. Take him if you don't have much interest in learning and you just want to pass with an easy A.
Wow! This dude is amazing I took his history 121 H class and it was the easiest course I've taken at scc! He's extremely helpful, and easy on hw with no attendence requirements ! Honestly easy A people take it!
He is an awesome professor!!!!!! I am not good at history nor interested in history, but he made the lecture easy to understand. Moreover, he gives a review section for each exam. You will do well if you take notes in class and review the notes for the exams.
AMAZING. The nicest professor at SCC. EASY EASY EASY class!
The best history teacher !!!!
Mr. reed is a great professor i wish there was more professors like him in the jr college system. he keeps you interested throughout class, makes students think outside the box. in my four years at SCC he is by far the clearest and straight forward teachers there. He wants you to pass and LEARN. unlike other teachers.
BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD!
If u want an easy A take him!!!
The only book needed is the one he wrote. Make sure to attend the review sessions, he goes over the questions and the essay prompt. Super easy if you attend the reviews.
One of his mottos is, "Education is about teaching students, not tricking them," and you can see this mentality in his teaching style. You learn a lot, yet marvel at how easy it is. Very nice person. His occasional lame attempts at humor make you laugh just because you can tell he's trying so hard to keep the class entertained. Highly recommended.
If you are a history major, then this is not for you. However, if this class is a class you need to have for another major, then, take it because it is super easy A. Four exams and one paper. I took this class in one month and had an A. this class is perfect to take along with anatomey and microbiology.
I took this class during the spring semester last year with some teammates. By far, one of the easiest classes I have ever taken in my life. you don't even really need to take notes. Just pay attention (somewhat) and give him a laugh every now and then for his jokes and you will pass the tests with flying colors and then the class with an A. :)
Reed is the best history teacher i have had. Loves what he is teaching and he just wants you to have learned something at the end of his class. Easy tests and ony one homework assignment. Have to buy his book for homework. Textbook is never used and you dont need to read it!
Reed is the man! He literally goes over the entire test with you the class before, so take notes on review day and you'll get an EASY A!!! Don't bother buying the textbook..never opened it once. Notes are all you need. Highly recommend!
Easy, boring, and simple. That describes Mr. Reed and his classes. 2-3 weeks lecture, 1 review day, and test. One essay assignment and it's easy. I averaged A's on all 6 tests and skipped class about once every two weeks. If you want an easy A and don't really want a great teacher, then take him.
Reed is the nicest man! I genuinely enjoyed his lectures because he makes them so interesting! He tells little jokes that aren't always funny, but they're still amusing because of how amused he is. He's my favorite professor, he loves his job so much, and his enthusiasm is contagious and adorable! Take good notes and you'll do well.
He's very understanding and clear as a professor. I had him for 2 history classes 120 and 101. Very enthusiastic about the subject. Buy the book!! You'll need the hw!! His exams are very straight forward!! You have to actually try to fail! He's very clear and gives more than enough hints for the exams!! Take him!! Take him!! Take him!!
Great, great professor! His lectures are so simple and straight to the point. He's very helpful and very understanding. There is even a review before the test! I recommend him!
It was Easy and stress free, which is good because you LEARN MORE
This class was beyond easy. Don't buy the textbook. Really all you had to do was show up to the review where he gives you the essay and the test questions to get an A. Also his tests were really easy and he only has 3 multiple choice answers per question.
Great teacher, provided a ton of useful info. His tests are extremely easy as long as you study at least a little for them. EASY A.
I don't really understand why everyone is saying his class is an "easy A." It's really not. Maybe an easy B. He's a sweet guy who makes "jokes" that no one understands or laughs at. Take him if you need a history class, not if you're majoring in history. Basically, his lectures are just him reading the textbook.
Easiest class ive taken here! One paper which you need his book for. Never once used the text book ever! Only went to class for reviews and test i got an A.
Easiest A. Not only that but if you show up to class you actually learn something. History major or not take the class. Attendance isn't mandatory and most people only showed up for review and test days.
Great professor. I'm taking him again next semester. Throws in funny little jokes, is clear and concise. Easy A if you pay attention to his lectures, take notes and listen to the review. Show up to class, do the homework. You'll pass and enjoy the class, too.
I LOVE HIM!! I've never liked a history class before, but this teacher is just awesome, i totally recommend him. He knows exactly what he's talking about and he will help you however you need. He'll also give you more time to bring in assignments. He cares a lot for his students. take him!!
He is probably the best history teacher i will ever have. Very nice and is very enthusiastic and passionate about the subject. Tests are easy. I highly recommend taking him
He is the greatest teacher ever! You don't have to go to class everyday; just on the review days before the tests. The tests are all easy and only 20-smething question long. You learn a lot an its just an easy class.
Okay teacher, long dry boring lectures. Makes you buy a book he wrote and then grades pretty tough on the assignments out of the book. Also grades kind of hard on essays on test. Super boring class but it is bearable
Reed's a good professor, BUT if you're somebody that strives for an A, he makes it hard. He'll tell you he doesn't bump grades, and he says that because he gives a LOT of B+ in his class. His tests are all based off the lectures and 5050 essaymultiple choice. With the exception of 1 hw assignment, it's all tests. Buy his book only.
Professor Reed is honestly a really chill guy! He is an author with a specific book he wrote and published. He assigns that as one of his assignment. It's pretty straight forward, 4 chapters and 3-4 long questions in the BACK of each end of the chap. He does have review sessions the day before the exam. I got a B in the class! :) There's no stress.
Such an easy class. Like everyone else is saying: show up, listen for a while, review for test, pass test repeat. I highly reccomened him if you are a patient person.
He seams laid back and like a really good teacher but in actuality it is just laziness. You can tell he teaches because it is a hobby, normally this seems like a good thing except he does not put much work into grades substance wise, and has absolute 0 regard for individual students. If you take him prepare for vague answers and late email replies.
Don't waste your time with this professor. He's a nice guy but is seemingly unwilling to work with the students who genuinely care about the material as evident by his refusal to bump grades. I received an 89.60% with a B as my final grade, so ridiculous. Buy his book ONLY. There are plenty of other great teachers in the department to learn from!
He was a very easy going professor. The tests are easy and based on the power point he shows. He does reviews a day before the test that are super helpful!
all you need to do is study your notes and you will basically passed the test. the test is 25 multiple choice and an essay. he lets you choose a question . the questions are difficult. for the essay all you have to do is make sure your essay is organized and detailed other then that its an easy class
Literally showed up to 6 classes total and passed. He doesn't take attendance. Either show up and get an A or stay at home read the book and get an A. Always has a review before the tests and goes over everything on it. Couple homework assignments which are easy.
Great professor, clear cut grading criteria. Very funny at times, would take again.
Reed is a pretty good professor although his lectures are boring (Do Not Take at 7AM). There is a book/ writing assignment due mid-semester (which was easy but wasn't very useful for the rest of the semester). His tests consist of multiple-choice and an essay question. Pay attention during reviews because that's what's on the test.
Super easy class. I took him for winter intersession. Nicest guy ever. 4 tests and one book report. Only buy his book. Got a A on all my tests. He has a lot of historical personal expierence so he is kinda bias and very liberal. I'm a moderate but I didn't care since he actually has lived through history and don't mind other opposing views.
Professor Reed was honestly the best teacher I've ever had while in college. I took his history 102 class over spring intersection and was the most laid-back awesome teacher ever. He does not care about attendance. All he cares about is that you listen and take the test at the end of the week which is very easy all you have to do is listen
He is very passionate about history which makes the class extremely enjoyable. Make sure you participate, but it doesn't have to be over-the-top. Just pay attention in class, take good notes, and go to the review sessions. It's a relatively easy class with a wealth of information.
Professor Reed is the most chill history teacher I have ever had. He would let you turn in your first assignment on the last day of class and still be rewarded with full credit. He is more of a verbal teacher, so you have to listen well and take notes while you're at it. All his tests consist of 25 questions and an essay portion, which is easy if you understand the material.
All you need to do is listen to his lectures or read the book. I really enjoyed this class and actually remember the material after finishing the class. The amount of work required was perfect to have us work for our grade but at the same time was not an overburden.
Great at telling his personal expierence and gives good detail about his background (career), honest guy, fair, and good at speeching
Professor Reed is a cool professor that is always positive and cares a lot for his students. He loves to joke around about History but sometimes his jokes are a little bit corney, but it can be funny if you get it. 4 easy test and a book report and the fun part are the 2 movies we watch in class. Read his book and listen to his lecture. You'll pass
His lectures are long since they go from "bell to bell". He makes you buy his book but I didn't buy the book and still got a B+ on the assignment!! He Is a really good professor.
Stephen Reed is definitely one to choose. He made me enjoy history a lot more( I hated it in HS). Ánd if youre trying to get your Gen Ed outta the way, hes a solid choice. Theres only about 5 tests and an essay throughout the semester. He even has review days in which I took advantage of. This professor wont dissapoint.
Professor Reed is a funny and easy professor. He lectures and you just take notes. You watch videos and movies throughout the semester. He doesn't take attendance. His book is needed to write the essay which is really easy. Only 3 exams and the finally. Each has a mini essay question and 25 questions. He is passionate about this subject & is great.
Basically you dont have to go to class, except for the review. There are also written essays that you need to do but he provides the essay question during the review and goes over it.
Been at Scc for 3 years and He was the worst professor Ive ever had, had him my last semester at Scc and gave me B while I had 89.2 as a final grade and got 96 on his final! He would do everything not to give u an A ! Gave 89 on most of the assignments without explaining why! He is so unfair and does not know how to lecture!try not to take him!
This class consists of 3 Exams, 1 Final, and a question/answer essay assignment. For the exams/final you only need to go to his review days, take good notes and study them and you should be fine. He does not take attendance. The only assignment is his book question/answer (super easy). Just buy his book (4 rev.) The rest you dont really need!
History is not my subject, so I appreciated how Professor Reed tried to make it fun. He grades the assignments pretty hard though and doesn't provide feedback. His tests are made up of an easy multiple choice section and a moderately difficult essay question that he gives you in advance. If you take good notes and study it shouldn't be too bad.
Take notes on lectures and you will pass his tests. You will need to buy the books because you will need to answers the questions that are in the book.
He's very laid back and nice. Honestly, if you show up for a few days plus the review days, you should be fine for the tests. Attendance is not mandatory. You can turn in the papers late. One con is he tells the same jokes/stories sometimes.
have fun with his notes
Hes very easy. You have about four test that are multiple choice and an essay question, very easy to pass. He has one homework assignment that you do need the book for and is very lenient about when it needs to be turned in. Watched like three movies. Show up on review days he goes through the essay questions in detail.
Hes a great Professor, you can tell his political bias a little but its very subtle. He has a passion for history and does tell you about his past life involving History. Hes very easy going and the class isnt too hard. Most importantly he knows his stuff.
About 4-5 exams. You may watch a couple of really good films. Take notes!
Honestly one of the most manageable classes Ive taken. 4 exams and a paper. He has review days so that was pretty nice.
Took his 4-week intersession. 4 tests and 1 assignment from his own book. Tests were pretty easy and the assignment didn't take long. Definitely would recommend him.
Awesome class, awesome professor. Zoom lectures were engaging, fun, and super interesting. Prof. Reed provides an exam prep session and is clear with grading. To further enrich the lessons, Prof. Reed uploaded movies that pertained to the historical content we were learning. One course paper due before mid terms- get started on that right away!
This is my first year and he is honestly one of my favorite professors. Attendance is not mandatory, you get to watch at least 2 films throughout the semester. Tests are really easy, just take good notes on the review days and you'll be set. He also likes to throw in corny jokes here and there. The only con is he doesn't provide a lot of feedback.
4 exams, 1 paper contains questions that relate to his published book. The class is well-paced, participation based on turning in discussions and exams on time. NOTE: for writing a paper with questions, provide effective detail and paraphrase in your own words. Study guides are provided, syllabus may confuse a litte, read them carefully
Reed's class is such a breeze and he really cares more you learning over worrying about a grade. The class is one paper and four extremely easy tests. His lectures are very entertaining and as long you pay attention then he covers everything you should know and will do review days before tests. Reed and the class are both great, take it!
Easily one of my favorite history professors. He makes a lot of dad jokes and engages with his students. Theres not any homework, just 4 exams and a book assignment that is very important. Make sure to do that book assignment or u wont past. Not needed to go to every class, but make sure you go to his review days before the exam!!!
My favorite professor this semester. Only a few test and one homework assignment. The two Books are a bit pricey which is the only downside to his class. I could see the class being boring if you don't like history but he does his best to make them fun with his dad jokes.
Instructor Reed is an amazing caring knowledgeable Instructor in History.
Reading the book he wrote is really important for the paper we did. He grades the essay portion of the tests fairly, hard to get a perfect score though. For doing well on the tests, just make sure you show up, and pay attention on the day he reviews for the tests, and you'll do fine. The other book (he didn't write) isn't rly relevant, use wiki.
Easy class if your good at history, if your not just study and you will be fine. You don't have to show up at all during lectures. Class before the test he goes over everything you need to do. 100% recommend him for any course he offers.
He forgot which class we were at least 2x and talked about course material that wasn't ours. Wastes a lot of time talking about what you don't need to know but skips quickly over what he's going to test you on. If you write down his every word, youll get an A-, but he'll knock off more points than reasonable from essays cause he "just wanted more."
This class was so easy. There is literally no excuse to get anything below an A. My 7th grade US history was harder than this class.
He was an amazing teacher. His class was easy to follow with lectures that include videos, music, and sometimes movies regarding the topic. He was very clear and very approachable. Tests were easy with only 6 assignments. 1 HW and 5 Tests. Would reccomend
If God resurrected a man into human form again it would be Stephen Reed. A super caring man with a great sense of humor and entertaining lectures. He jokes often and makes history interesting, especially with all his facts and anecdotes. Be nice to the man, he deserves the world.
I almost laughed out loud during some of the tests because some of the potential answers in the multiple choice were so funny. His lectures are very understandable, and if you miss class, they follow his book very closely. It makes sense, seeing as he wrote it.
He is a really good professor for the subject. Personally I enjoyed how his class is structured, but it's not for everyone. He is very lecture-heavy. However the exams heavily correspond with lecture. Pay attention and you can pass easily. My only real complaint is his required book; you have to fork over the money because he wrote it himself.
Teaches history with a bit of politics. Only need his textbook for a graded essay assignment. He gives in-class essays, but you get to choose which essay topic to write about and he provides all options several days in advance so that you can study at home. He's funny and incredibly easy-going.
Professor Reed is amazing and I highly recommend him to anyone who needs to take a history class. By far one of my favorites!
4 tests, no homework, and one paper about this book he wrote. sometimes review days aren't good enough to get an A. Make sure to review everything on the slides and you'll be good. Gives essay prompts a week before tests so you can prepare. if I studied more I could've gotten an A. Tests are based on his lectures so kind of mandatory to attend.
Good lectures- go to every lecture if you want to pass the class. Take copious notes- whats in the lectures is on the tests. The textbook (Foner) is recommended but not necessary to pass. Graded by 5 total assignments.
One of the best professors on campus! If you do not like hist, I would recommend you take him, and even if you do like hist, I would still recommend him. His lectures are awesome and very funny! He is very helpful. As for the test as long as you attend the lectures and take good notes you should be fine. I would most definitely take him again!
He made us buy a textbook that was well over $100 (written by him) for the class and a graded assignment. He has been teaching for so long he wouldn't remember what he had and hadn't taught us. No matter how much studying I did, it was never enough.
Good professor, although his class required two different textbooks. One was $60 and the other $110, and it was written by him. Classes were very lecture-heavy, and he taught multiple classes so sometimes he would repeat things or forget to mention things. There are 4 exams and one paper you can be graded on, slides NOT available on Canvas either.
The course has a transparent structure regarding homework assignments and tests. However, the required textbook, written by the professor, is expensive. The professor would decline to answer questions about Israel. Furthermore, the professor's public support of the current war in Ukraine conflicts with my personal values.
Professor Reed is an encyclopedia of history knowledge. His lecture style is story telling, so take notes. His tests come directly from his lectures notes. There are three tests and one final. No homework or papers. There is one required book but you can check it out at the library. You only need it to complete a 12 question test grade assignment.
Prof Reed is one of the best! He is super funny and entertaining but his class is pretty lecture heavy. Only 4 tests, one doc assignment and no cumulative final! If you have the opportunity to take him for Hist101 definitely do. Fairly easy if you study and be sure to take notes during test review!
Prof Read was by far the best history teacher I've had! He's very kind and funny. The class is very lecture heavy, but as long as you pay attention during the lectures and test reviews, you should be fine. There were 5 tests and a none culmulative final with 1 document assignment. If you planning on taking Hist101,I highly recommend professor Reed
