GREAT GUY! CARES ABOUT THE STUDENTS AND IS FRIENDLY. I LEARNED ALOT IN HIS CLASS AND ENJOYED IT.

Reminds me of a little schoolboy. I want to tousle his hair. Hehe. Good professor. Earned bonus points from me when I discovered his favourite poem was T.S. Eliot's The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.

There's just something about him. He knows a lot about what he teaches. The only bad thing is that he can be a little critical when it comes to grading. He makes class fun though.

He teaches everything in dept. His test a fairly easy but do not let them trick you. If you need this class I wouldn't blame you if you took him.

He is a wonderful prof! Cares SO much about students getting the most out of the class. Really encourages students to see him during office hours to talk about direction paper is going in. Class wasn't hard, only real test was midterm (essay). Rest were 1000 word papers and a final paper of 10 pages

Professor Rice made western studies an interesting and enjoyable class to attend. 3 quizzes, 2 papers, and a final. He'll make you work for your grade but he's VERY clear about what he wants from his students. A must take.

i took history 1 with prof. rice and did an independent study my senior year. he is awesome, loves what he does, and it toally comes through when he's super excited about history at 8 am in the summer session!

He is SO cute & SUPER smart. He has interesting assigments, great feedback, and fun class discussions. He asks about your weekend and things on campus which is cool, doesn't just jump right into the topic. VERY CLEAR, u always know EXACTLY what he wants. Only thing, he's a little slow @ grading, but that's b/c he really reads ur stuff and comments

Professor Rice is an amazing man. He is concerned that students not only know the events of history, but also the who, what, where, why, and how. He is a cultural historian, and throws different perspectives on historical events. I highly recommend taking him. I absolutely loved his class.

Rice is hot. He's a good teacher too. Sometimes, he's boring, but he's fairly easy. Do the reading, go to his class, and turn in the assignments. He's not out to get you. Nice guy and helpful.

Awesome professor. I had him for American Studies. He admits that the material is boring but he tries to make the most of it. I didn't pay attention but I still pulled off a B+. A lot of the books for the class can be found online to read for free so check that out before buying the books. We had a midterm, paper, and final. He's a fair grader.

Professor Rice is one of the best at Ramapo.He cares about your learning and is always willing to answer any questions you have.3 papers and one research paper.They were all clearly explained,much more than they should be for a 300 level course.He is a little dull,if you do the reading you will be able to contribute and class will go much faster.

Rice is a great guy and good teacher. He's aware the material is boring but makes the best of it and knows how to make it interesting (if u pay attention). A few papers but they're easy. He gives a looot of readings but you'll find a way to take care of that. Overall very thorough and easy grader. Nice teacher I recommend him

Amazing professor!! He is so intelligent and knowledgable on all subject matter. Classes are discussion based and not boring at all. 3-4 main papers plus in-class writing assignments and the final. I would definitely take him again. Great man and inspiring teacher.

I wish I had this man's passion for his teaching subject. My lord he finds everything so fascinating and is so eager to learn from us students, which is great. It makes the class more relatable and tolerable unlike the other professors. I enjoyed showing up to all the classes and I'd do it again.

I love Prof. Rice. Having class with him makes me want to become a American Studies major rather than bio. Class involves reading for every class , a few papers, and about 6 in class, 20 min. writings. There is also a final with only essays. Class is discussion based, and he makes everything understandable by relating it to today. Would take again.

I took Professor Rice for my Intro to US History I course. His classes are interesting and you get to learn a lot about history and its introduction. Good gen ed to take if you need it and great if youre starting out as a history major. Make sure you study for the quizzes, take thorough notes, and there are multiple papers. Take him!

Professor Rice is one of my favorite professors at Ramapo. I had him my freshman year for HIST101 as well. Makes material SUPER easy to understand. He gives a bit of reading but it is always interesting. He REALLY cares about his students and really enjoys the material he teaches. Likes to make students feel important and involved. TAKE HIM!!!!

Professor Rice gives you the main points you need to know for every quiz, and it is always accurate, no surprises. Four quizzes, three papers, no final exam. If you study or know your history, this class is an easy A. Also, Professor Rice is a great professor and very intellectual. I'm looking forward to taking another class with him next semester.

Professor Rice makes me wish I was a history major so I can take more of his classes. He's so smart about so many subjects; I took him for both American History and Arts and Humanities and he was very knowledgeable about both. He knows how to manage a classroom, and his assignment dates are flexible if need be.

I had Prof. Rice for Honors Arts & Humanities and he was one of my favorite teachers during the semester. You can tell that he cares about his students and is usually very understanding. If you listen to lecture and participate by adding your opinions, you'll do perfectly fine. 10/10 recommend him as a professor!!

I lucked out with Prof. Rice. I only took a random art history class for credit, but he made it the best class I took all semester. Yes it's lecture heavy, with lots of reading. He took a boring subject & made it fascinating. You might not like every reading, but his research is so thorough you'll get a quality college learning experience.

Professor Rice has a love for history and teaching, and he shows that in class. He is soft-spoken and very caring for his students. He always asked about our weekend plans and if anybody is doing something fun. The lectures may sometimes get boring, however I did learn a lot from this course. I would 100% take a class with prof. I don't know why someone said he was annoying in a previous rating, he is so kind and clearly cares about what he's teaching. If you don't do the work, you won't get a good grade. If you take a 6:05-9:35 with him he will keep you the full time, probably because he is required to do so. It can be boring at times but he's so sweet and understanding.

He is by far the best professor I have had at Ramapo. His class was 3 hours long and it was tough to sit through but I PROMISE YOU, if you contribute to the conversation the class will feel a lot less like a drag. The conversations were NOT difficult to partake in. He DOES accept late assignments for partial credit. If you can, take him.

Literally such a great professor. Had him for Fall 2024 when I took his First Year Seminar course each lecture was amazing and he genuinely connects with his students. There is no homework except a few readings throughout the semester and 3 short papers scattered across the semester as well. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking him. You won't regret it.

Professor Rice is a great history teacher. There's a lot of reading and class discussions, but he cares for his students and it shows. You have three short papers and three major papers, but there are no tests, quizzes, midterm, or final! He also gives great feedback on your writings. Just do the readings and class will be enjoyable. He's the best!

Prof. Rice might be the one of the nicest people on the planet. I didn't take his class on purpose but I am not mad at all. The material does not interest me but i don't mind because it's so chill. very passionate about what he teaches. lectures might make you zone out but youll be fine. totally recommend. light class and chill dude

Very caring and class was fun.

Easy class, he is very nice. He gives readings which can be a little difficult but it's not graded you just talk about it. He has one oral exam, a research project, and a film project.

Good class and topic. If you dont like writing, dont take the class, there are weekly writings which have to be at least 3 paragraphs but if you do the reading/pay attention during the discussions you'll be fine! The final is all writing but nothing exceeds three paragraphs
