Dr. Stroud teaches Music Appreciation in the conventional manner, ie. classrooom lecture, outside research and off site reports. He successfully imparts all the necessary material and keeps the classroom atmosphere light, humorous and interesting.

Looking for a snooze and cruse course? Here it is! His jokes and stories are amusing and inspirational. Overall it was fun and enjoyable. The music could be more difficult though. As a musician I found it not very challenging at all. Good job Doc!

He keeps the class fun, with his jokes and stories. He has a funny chuckle that you can't help but smile back. He loves his work, and his class is easy, but that all depends on the student.

Mr. Stroud is a cool instructor! he always makes me laugh when he tells his stories about his past experiences.He makes his lectures exciting and wanting to learn more.I wish Mr. Stroud would teach all my courses because he explains well&he is interesting

Music 110 was my first class in MJC, and I thougt it could be hard, but Stroud made it so easy for me. I love this person and really enjoyed his class. The best part are his jokes and stories. He rules!!! long live Stroud>.....

The cutest old man ever. Laughs like spongebob. Really enjoys what he does. Very jolly like santa claus. Goes over EVERYTHING and i mean ALL QUESTIONS to be on exams. Very fun guy, you'll enjoy him. An easy A!

This class is extremely easy. BUT, I hate people taking advantage of Dr. Stroud. The guy is HILARIOUS and he has such a passion for music. I recommend him 100%!

Fabulous. The music is great, assignments few and pretty easy, the lectures are highly entertaining, and the laugh...well, that is a whole subject on its own. The laugh will make your day each and every time you hear it. At first I thought he was joking, but it's his honest-to-goodness real laugh. H

Don't buy a book. You don't need it. This guy will make you laugh so hard. He's a really cute old man, he's simply adorable. He made me want to come to class everyday to hear his jokes-both nice and naughty. He will give you all the questions and answers on the 2 exams.You must go 2 class EVERYDAY

You need the book no matter what! He does give great lectures though, so take good notes and read your book and study for his tests and you'll do fine! I reccommend you take a writing course or visit the writing center b4 turning in your papers! He makes this material very interesting imo. Without a doubt, one of the best teachers I have had so far

Dr. Stroud is hands down an awesome teacher. I believe that there are no such thing as an easy class. So, I consider Dr. Stround as a very fair prof. I did not buy the book, rather;I used the reference book at the library. I did recieved a grade I desrve which is a big fat A.

Easy to the point of lunacy. The writing assignments challenge your mind, and the lectures are interesting. Tells funny stories about life experiences with a grim sense of humor.

I loved going to summer school everyday to hear what he had to say and have us listen too! He is such a nice man with a positive outlook!

I love, love, love Dr. Stroud. So freakin' funny. He says the most unbelievable things! ...and his laugh alone is worth taking the class. Fun. Dr. Stroud is so my idol!! I base everything I want to do in life on what he has done with his. The best band director I ever had the pleasure of being under. I miss having him as a teacher quite terribly:(

Dr. Stroud is an extremely intelligent instructor who is enjoyable and jovial in and out of the classroom. If you need extra help, time, etc talk to him and he'll help.

His humor makes him absolutely gorgeous. Great laugh and smile. I can actually say I want to read my book; I want to be in class. He's an excellent teacher, too bad we don't have more like him. If ever I find a husband, I hope he's just like Stephen Stroud. Too much man for MJC, yes, that's what he is. This man gets 3 chili peppers in my book!

He's hecka FuNnY!!!! Talks about random things alot and all u do in the class is write notes have like 3 exams and thats it. We also have to go to concerts and write reviews but thats it. Hes a great teacher!!

He's the easiest & funniest teacher u'll ever have. U have 2 tests and go 2 3 musical concerts (like ur sister's Christmas play) and write 2 pgs 4 each of them and that's it. I totally recommend him. Easiest A of ur life.

Honestly, you get an "A" or an "F" If you come to class and sit and listen you pretty much get an "A" If you never show up to class you get an "F"that's about all there is to it. Plus he's like his own Comedy Central, I highly recomend this class.

Awesome teacher, funniest guy you'll ever meet. You need to go to the class as a requirement in order to get an A, but you will want to go just to listen to this guy. Hilarious. Very easy and enjoyable.

Stroud is an awesome professor. I would love to take the class again just so I can have him as a teacher again. Not only is he a great teacher and very fair, but he is more than just funny...he's hilarious! Love hearing his stories. He could easily be on Saturday Night Live and do improv. He is outrageously funny and has a clever wit. He is quite glib and intelligent. He would be a challenge in a department of Linguistics. I give him a"hot" because he has an incredible brain & that is the ultimate aphrodisiac to stimulate the senses. A clever, well read, traveled Prof.

i have never learned so about a teacher! lol, i think he's a teacher who wholeheartedly cares but to some people, it can have a different interpretation. it's really not that difficult to come to class and if you do, you will pass -- guaranteed.

I had just finish taking this class a minute ago and i'm sad to say that I will definitely miss this class. Dr. Stroud is the best teacher i had ever taken at mjc. The class was so easy all you had to do was come to class everyday and do all your work just like every class you take.I advice you all to take this class without any regret.

Good Teacher, still in the class and at midterm got an A on it. Lame jokes, but can be funny at times. definatly take during summer, easy class and i missed 4 so far.

Wonderful teacher who really wants you to learn. He is funny, smart, and warm. We learned a lot about music so this class is highly recommended. He includes a lot of personal stories, most of which make him look like the smartypants, but he is fun and engaging. I may take another one of his classes!

Great teacher! He tells a lot of personal stories which are usually funny and has tons of stories about his travels. Really easy class. If you go every class there is no need for the book. He tells you everything you need for the midterm and final. Great teacher!

Took Stroud in Spring of 2007. He is really funny.. talks a lot about his life but its interesting and funny. You pretty much listen to music every day, but learn to appreciate it. Attendance is somewhat important but not every one shows up every day.. Overall a easy class, just listen to lectures and take notes.

Dr Stroud is a fun guy. He has a unique personality and he adds a little entertainment to the class with his jokes. If you go to his classes, you will pass the class. Only 3 papers and 2 tests all semester! I thought he was a little odd at first, but he definitely grew on me. He's my favorite teacher this semester!

If you show up, have respect are courteous you will pass this class. He is really easy to take for such a class and I didn't have to have preexisting knowledge of how to write musical notes to get the A I received. :)

Easy A. Come to class on time. Be respectful, that means no talking or playing with widgets. Pay attention and take notes. No homework just a few papers to write, midterm and final. Stroud will be rude if you are disrupting the class. Anyone who has complaints about Stroud will not get far in college. He is the best instructor at MJC. If you are not getting an A, it's your fault not his.Take Stroud! No regrets.

He's easy enough. He's funny and I enjoyed his talks. He will definitely not be the cause of a low grade. The only complaint here is his extreme kindness. At times I wished he would kick a couple of rude students out for talking. Disrespectful students mistake kindness and see a "pushover". Don't be one of these, if you want to then go to Delta

I learned many new things about music in this class. Teacher was very good and made the class fun. Especially the part of listening to the music in class and many classical music was perfect.

This is the best teacher ever on the face of the earth!! I took this class first summer session, you have to attend each day so you can take notes, every Thursday was a quiz from the notes and you can use your book. Had to write two EASY essays ( all info in book) on two quizzes & then had to do a concert review. Class is fun & his jokes are funny!

easy teacher, for those who don't pass are sad. You get to use your notes, book isn't neccessary in summer. I did all the essays with notes i took. Class is alright. Great teacher though.

He's a great teacher u learn a lot other than music and his tests are easy just study ur notes and ur good but attend everyday so u can get the test answers on tests

I wish Prof Stroud didn't retire. He was the best instructor and was passionate about music. His class was insanely easy especially during the summer semesters. I overall enjoyed that class so much. The stories he told were funny and heart touching. Best instructor hands down!
